Racism
Racism is a term that is often used to describe a variety of social, culture and economic problems, but
has, unfortunately, acquired so many contradictory meanings that it takes on the aura of a myth, it has
become increasingly difficult to define . Although the term wasn t officially featured in the Larousse
Dictionary until 1932, racism had been a dark cloud hanging over the global horizon for centuries (de
Benoist, 1999). Whenever there are people of different cultural and social characteristics introduced
into the mix, a recipe for racism and the hostilities it generates is created. Because racism defies a
singular definition but is usually represented by the categorizing of people according to certain
criteria, it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their zeal for prosperity, many countries have exploited lesser developed nations and their natural
resources as well as so called
inferior or primitive peoples for economic gain (Vorster, 2002).
This is how slavery and colonialism, which have too often flourished throughout history, became the
primary examples of racism or the development of the mentality that white (civilization) was right.
When this desire for wealth and the power it represented encouraged territorial expansion with a
vengeance, the enslavement of indigenous peoples throughout Africa in particular was justified until
well into the twentieth century. When Germany had suffered a staggering blow to its nationalist image
after its humiliating defeat in World War II, a crazed dictator named Adolf Hitler was able to satisfy
his lust for power and at the same time bring his vision of a supposedly superior
Aryan race eerily close to realization through genocide or the extermination of Eastern European
Jews.
The third and possibly most compelling cause of racism is collective fear (Vorster, 2002, p. 296). This
creates group solidarity particularly among minority groups and is centered around protecting their
own interests (Vorster, 2002). It is this fear that ignites feelings of prejudice, an emotional rather than
rational reaction to perceived biases (Vorster, 2002). These prejudices are formed by mistaken

Non Stick Grilling
Using these non stick grilling mats is easy. You can use in almost any cooking situation, and on almost
any surface. The thin sheet is meant to completely cover the metal grate in order to provide a flat, stick
proof surface for cooking. They are ideal for shrimp and veggies, but they can also make cooking
regular foods easier too.
1. After turning on your grill, or knocking down the fire, ensure that the metal grate is in position.
2. Place a single mat over the grilling surface, or use two next to each other for larger grills.
3. Do not layer, and maintain a single thickness. Either side of the mat may face up because they are
totally reversible.
4. Once the mat is in place, apply food and cook like normal.
5. As with other non stick cookware,

Statement Of Biotechnology
Biotechnology functions to living organisms or any technological application that uses biological
systems. I don t remember when I showed interest in that subject first, but I liked to read science
articles and watch national geographic since I was young. It was just a simple interest and curiosity
about science at first, but it developed to the aspiration of studying specific major of biotechnology
when I chose IB subjects. After I had a conversation with teachers, peers, parents, and other
acquaintance about science subjects and reflected my past science classes, I chose biology and
chemistry in order to study biotechnology in the near future. The reason why I want to study

It was a challenge to live in a developing country in Southeast Asia trying to speak a new language. I
adamantly refused to even walk out the front door because of the fear of studying in different
circumstances. But as I left Korea, I realized that Vietnam is a bigger world for me. In Korea, I have
learned everything based upon the perspective of Korean, but as I moved to International school, the
teachers and the students vary in nationalities, so I was able to learn how to respect other cultures and
to accept the diversity of individuals. After I moved to Vietnam, I became the person who understands
the differences and accepting other people s ideas. As I keep experiencing new things, I am not afraid
of the changes anymore and became an assertive student who continues to challenge myself. I played

Police Suspicion Essay
Many things go into making a decision for a police officer on a daily basis. Assessing a threat is an
activity that any police officer must do in order to better stay safe within the community and to live
long enough to see retirement. There are obvious and easy to pick out things which give red flags to
an officer such as weapons, disregard for the safety of yourself or others, and clear intent to harm the
officer. Other, less obvious factors, also must come into play. The factor which we are going to look at
in this paper is age. During February of 2006, five researchers observed police officers in Savannah
Georgia for 132 8 hour shifts. After each stop police officers would debrief the researchers and talk
about how and why a character was deemed as raising suspicion. Over the course of this research,
there were 174 documented cases of suspects raising suspicion. In order to form suspicion officers
must have, at any time, became doubting, distrustful or otherwise troubled or concerned about an
individual. Suspicion arose in a majority of cases due to the abnormal behavior of the individual(s)
that seemed to pique the interest of the officer. Although the end result of the suspicion did not always
end up in a stop of an individual or vehicle. In some cases, the officers ... Show more content on

Even the cases in which officers did raise suspicion on the basis of appearance it was never recorded

age and police suspicion at all.
Through the knowledge done by this research, we can confirm the fact that indeed officers seem to not
become suspicion of an individual due to age. The next logical step is to try and understand why
juveniles are treated differently and how this affects what the ultimate outcome of what is supposed to

Immigraton in the U.S. Essay
Immigration in the U.S.
While immigration has played an important role in the building
and formation of America, new federal laws have resulted in mass
immigration. America was primarily founded on immigrants,
however, immigration must be controlled legally, and immigrants
should be treated equally despite what country they come from.
America has the most liberal laws towards immigrants than any other
country. Luis Barker, Chief Patrol Agent In Charge, US Border Patrol,

had to amend them to control the flow of both legal and illegal

Measures were put in place to reduce this by requiring couples to

Sociopathy And Psychopathy Essay
Mental disorders are dreadful things that can attack without warning. While some are aware of the
disorders that affect them, others are not, and they can therefore be affected by their disorders to the
point of no return. Sociopathy and psychopathy, which can stem from either environmental factors or
brain abnormalities, are examples of this. While there are misconceptions about the true identities of
these disorders and the differences between them, this paper will attempt to inform the readers of their
distinctions, and just where in the world they are present. This paper will also discuss how to confront
those who are affected, and the factors that are involved in doing so. To first understand the basic

With different media such as books, articles, and databases, this paper s primary goal is to grab one s
attention and inform one on issues relating to personality, mental illness, and conditions such as
sociopathy and psychopathy. As mental disorders become more and more prevalent within the
American population today, it is only necessary to inform oneself on the varying topics being
discussed. To know how the mind works is merely one step into the mystery that is the human body,
and it would be neglectful to approach such a topic without being properly prepared. Sociopathy and
psychopathy are harming conditions, but as previously portrayed, things are much more complex than
they seem. With the presence of new treatments for thousands of conditions increasing by the day, it is
only a matter of time before the human race will be ever closer to understanding others as well as they

Capitalism And Capitalism
Capitalism, as Speth explains, is an economic system that is geared toward accumulation of profit, its
tendency to change and expand. Root explains that the developed world has necessary tools to guard
themselves against uncertainty and risk. They also can count on social institutions and welfare
programs to manage risks. Engaging business activities, developed world is dealing with risk by
developing products and marketing, for instance. Developing and marketing new products require
capital, and capitalism by nature is geared toward capital accumulation, to make profits. Whereas, as
Root points out, the developing nations don t have enough capital to improve their lives and climb out
of poverty. The idea is that a poor nation not being able to invest, the economy does not grow, so they
remain poor. According to Root, the wealth gap between the rich and poor nations has widened
tremendously. However, it is necessary to also explore other contributing factors for the economy of
the developing nations not being able to grow.
However, Root explains that uncertainty and risk are the factors how developed countries have grown
rich by turning uncertainty into risk. Of course, the presence of institutions are needed to make the risk
management possible. For example, institutions might discourage people to acquire education to learn
new skills to engage business activities to accumulate capital (p. 4).
Further, innovation is needed to develop necessary technology for economic

Three Techniques To Integrate Database To The Web Analysis
InfoHarness Repository Language, has the capability to generate simple metadata. It provides
automation for generation of metadata; InfoHarness is often used to encapsulate raw data
(heterogenous), and used as a runtime entity to search that encapsulated data.
In this technique, when the data item arrives for archiving, information is automatically extracted and
sent to a catalog named summary. Simultaneously, more information is gathered and sent to catalog
named program. Now, the users have the ability to locate data from the summary, using which they
analyze the data retrieved through program catalog.

The idea is to rebuild parts of the UI on web before executing/displaying them on the user s machine.
Hence, improving the scalability issues that the web currently faces. Although it reduces the load of
the server, this approach is largely platform dependent. For example, web programs written in java
improves interaction with the database. i.e., it will limit the disadvantage of the stateless protocol
(HTTP).
Middle Layer approach, this technique mainly concentrates on the heterogenous form of the data and
how to improve its integration to the web. CORBA, is an existing technique in this area that can be
used to solve this issue. It supports interoperability between the objects. It is capable of handling
different machines written in different languages, considering that these systems work mostly on a
distributed/heterogenous environment.
4.4 Techniques to improve scalability factor for Web Based Databases
Especially with the growth of web usage, there has come a time to relook into the design of both web
based applications and traditional DB techniques that are currently in place to counter scalability
issues. Below are some of the suggestions to improve the database techniques,
In order to achieve a cut edge database application, there should be freedom for the web clients to
update DB. Example, an accepted order should trigger the update of available quantity. The current
and traditional DBs use conventional models for transaction purpose,

The Results Of Gothic Architecture
The results of Gothic architecture in York
In the 12th century architecture saw the progression from Romanesque architecture to the Gothic era,
which saw the forthcoming of the prodigious cathedrals that were to become the architectural symbol
of the middle ages. This was during a time of high aspirations. As well structural developments Gothic
architecture is also associated with a change in thinking and social attitudes that are represented in
numerous ways, essentially appealing to emotions.
After the fall of the Roman Empire the political culture shifted from the feudal system to monarchy,
bringing forth a cultural identity. Poetry and art became more personal and intimate, giving people
individuality. It reflected the social sustainability of the modern age and the growing confidence of the
Christian Church of Rome, which successfully lead crusades to reclaim the Holy land from the Islamic
occupants. The representation of Christ changed from a godlike hero in the battle between good and
evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To
respond, architects believed that light was the closest substance to God s true presence and focused on
making a network of ribs and vaults reaching towards heaven. Pointed arches looked towards the sky
as the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine on it: for the glory of God did lighten
it . (The Bible. Revelation 21:23) The results were specific elements, such

Around 2.5million young men were helped by this scheme, which gave them work on environmental
projects. Men signed on for periods of six months, which could be renewed if work could still not be

farmers modernize. Unfortunately modernization meant that many farm labourers lost their jobs.
Another important act that was introduced during the 100 days was the National Industry Recovery
Act which set up two organisations: the (PWA) Public Works Administration and the (NRA) National
Recovery Act . The PWA used government money to create millions of jobs building roads, bridges,
dams, schools and airports, which would be important once the US had recovered. The NRA improved
working conditions and banned child labour. It also set up a minimum wage and set out industries
level of production. This helped the economy because it meant employees had money to spend. The
scheme was voluntary and those companies who joined used the Blue Eagle as a symbol of

as of late, the sales have declined by approximately half. This has become an alarming situation as the

Political, and Business Ethics. Cultural: In the U.S. there are many cultural variations. One of the
things I ve found to be a factor with marketing, is the basic cultural and language variations between
people from different countries. The complex details of a variable annuity are difficult to explain in
any language, so when the client may not speak and understand the broker s language well enough,
there may be a high level of insecurity over the whole purchase process. Also, imagery used in
marketing materials may not have the same impact on people from different cultures, and may even be
offensive or unrealistic. These same anxiety inducing factors may also prevent the investor from
asking questions they feel are relevant, but don t want to be perceived as uneducated or
unsophisticated. Consumer behavior differs in each culture, in which one might use everything from
body gestures, long periods of silence, and empathy to exchange communications. People might have
a hard time with reading investment materials, writing and speaking a less than familiar language, but
might have very clear listening abilities that could increase their comfort with and comprehension of

Female Oppression in The Yellow Wallpaper Charlotte Perkins Gillman s The Yellow Wallpaper

differently when it comes to serious situations such as how to help someone who is greatly suffering

her mental illness worse while he is in fact trying to help her get better. John is not a bad person. He

Jane looks at him and declares, I ve got out at last in spite of you and Jane! And I ve pulled off most of

femininity as a weakness and tried to do everything in his power to make sure she was rested and did
not push herself too hard. Yet, John was the one who fainted, which is usually considered a
predominantly feminine trait. His fainting demonstrates the fragility of masculinity. John ends up
representing his own hidden femininity when he faints. It is often considered the job of the man of the
family to be strong and to protect the weaker sex. John s fainting ends up proving that both men and
women can experience high levels of distress when something serious happens. John treats Jane like
she is fragile and breakable, but it seems like he is just as fragile and breakable, if not more so. Even
though John ignores Jane when she tells him what she thinks would be better for herself John is also
denying himself the ability to show compassion to his struggling wife. By treating his wife like she is
unable to acknowledge her own needs John becomes shocked when Jane descends into madness. If he

Human Computer Interaction ( Hci ) Essay
Emotion is a distinguishing feature of human beings. It is not because other beings cannot express
emotions, but we are good at grasping emotions of our fellow beings. Emotions play an important role
in the decisions we make in our day to day lives. We express emotions in almost everything we do,
such as; we express anger when we face atrocities, we express sadness when we hear news of demise,
and we express happiness when we get what we want. Further, emotions are not just limited to our
personal lives. In fact, conservatively, we express emotions in our professional life as well. Likewise,
technology plays an irrefutable role in our lives. Our dependency on technology has increased over the
years, and at times, we feel its intrusiveness as well (Grint Woolgar, 1997). We are depending more
and more on the technology and further, we are hoping the technology to sense us and understand us
better, in order to serve us well. Human Computer Interaction (HCI) has emerged as a field to
understand and contribute more to the interaction between technology and humans. The adaptable and
interdisciplinary nature of HCI has spawned multidimensional topics. For instance, to understand the
collaborative nature between the machine and humans, mixed initiative systems emerged. To sense
and ease work of the human beings, intelligent systems came into existence. Affective computing field
talks about the myriad possibilities of understanding the emotions and operationalizing emotions for

Old Man Sea
The book I have read was the old man and the sea by Ernest Hemingway. He wrote the book in the
Cuba in 1951 and the bok came out 1952. the old man and the sea was one of the most famoust book
of Hemingway. The protagnist in the book is a fisherman who called Santiago. The supporting roll is a
boy who called Manolin. The old man has not caught a fish in 84 days. But he never gives up, he has
full of fighting spirit.. Finally in the eighty fifth day he catchs a really big fish, a marlin. The Marlin
dragged his boat into the sea and the old man pulles the fish tightly to not let it go. Although there are
no water, no food and no weapon, he nevers give up. And after to days and to nights, he finally killed
the Marlin. But this is not happy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that place, he can find the freindship and the thing he loves. The old man loves sea, he sees the sea
as a kind and beautiful women. Like the book said He always thought of the sea as la mar which is
what people caller in Spanish when they love her. He sees the birds, fish and wind as his freind. I do
not understand these things, he thought. But it is good that we do not have to try to kill the sun or the
monn. It is enough to live on the sea and kill our true brothers. Here brothers mean fish. Sometimes he
talkes with them, sometimes he talkes with himself. For exampel: How old are you, is this your first
trip? This is the old man asks the bird. From all his conversation between them and himself, I
understand how lonely and complacted in his heart. When he catched a big fish, he was very happy,
because he can finally make a lot of money, but gradually the old man begin to appreciate the wisdom
and insistence of Marlin, he sees Marlin as a great enemy. And in the end he is very sad for the death

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy ( Rebt ) Foundation
Introduction
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) foundation says that the way people make assumptions
about themselves and the world around them influences their emotions and behavior. (McLeod, 2008)
Sometimes these assumptions may impact people negatively because they are not rational ways to
view aspects of life. The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of what REBT is, its obstacles,
how to deal with those obstacles, and the effectiveness of this therapy.
History
REBT was developed by Albert Ellis in 1955. (Wilson, 2014) Ellis did not agree with conventional
ways of psychoanalysis because, to him, they were superficial and unscientific. (Wilson, 2014) Ellis
then combined a therapy that had humanistic, cognitive, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An example would be: I want to be approved of this, but it s okay if I do not. (Wilson, 2014) The
second rational belief is called the anti awfulizing belief that says, It s bad to be disapproved of at
school, but it isn t the end of the world. (Wilson, 2014)The third rational belief would be the high
frustration tolerance belief that says, It s difficult to face being disapproved of at school, but I can
tolerate it. (Wilson, 2014) Lastly, the fourth rational belief is the acceptance belief. For example: I can
accept myself if I am disapproved by my peers at school. These were all examples of Ellis rational
beliefs. (Wilson, 2014)
The first irrational belief is called the rigid demands and an example of it would be I must be liked at
school , and the second is awfulizing beliefs like If I m disapproved at school, it s the end of the
world. (Wilson, 2014)The third irrational belief is the low frustration beliefs and an example of it
would be I can t tolerate not being liked by people at school. (Wilson, 2014) Lastly the fourth
irrational belief is depreciation beliefs an example would be, People that do not approve of me are
terrible people . (Wilson, 2014)These were examples of Ellis irrational beliefs.
The second principal preposition is that cultural and family tendencies and patterns can influence
irrational beliefs in people. (Wilson, 2014) The third principal preposition is that thinking,

The Violence Of Black Americans Essay
Who are we? What defines us? In America, we are defined by our class, what we do and most
importantly how we look. Since the birth of our nation, a notion of race has been rooted to our core
personas. In fact it can enforce stereotypes of class and careers. It is evident that Black Americans are
un proportionally living in poverty and without easy access to achievement. This harsh reality is not
helped by our media driven society. In a world so heavily integrated with mass media hysteria, we
scroll past posts that can have the countering effects of degradation or empowerment through our
identities. While movements of Black Power can be painted through media, it also not hard to see the
difference between the ways in which Black Americans are manipulated within the lens of media.
They are portrayed as fitting a certain stereotype uneducated, violent and intriguingly exotic. For
example, while women in general face the enemy of sex sells , black women have this experience
intensified. These women are portrayed as exotic sexual beings. They are objectified and degraded
with the intent of women of color being seen as sexually gratifying, but nothing more. The parallels to
the mindset one hundred years ago is uncanny black women, black men and black children are seen as
objects to appropriate and use for the media s benefit. We can see this through our some of our
greatest stars. Miley Cyrus, the Kardashians and even Justin Timberlake have taken a culture and

King Louis Vii s Reign
Louis VII was a Capetian King of the Franks from 1137 until his death. He was the son and successor
of King Louis IV of France, or most commonly known as Louis the Fat. He was married to Eleanor of
Aquitaine, one of the wealthiest and most powerful women in Western Europe. Reigned from 1137 to
1180; b. 1120. The second son of Louis VI and Adelaide of Maurienne. Louis s education at the
cathedral school in Paris prepared him for an ecclesiastical career; however, upon the death of his
brother, Philip, in 1131, he became heir to the French throne to which he succeeded in 1137.

In May 1152, Eleanor subsequently married the future Henry II of England (r. 1154 1189), whose
possessions in France and powerful ambition became a source of rivalry and conflict for Louis. His
contemporaries, including Odo de Deuil, Stephen of Paris, John of Salisbury, and Walter Map praised
Louis VII for his piety and his favorable disposition toward the church. He undertook pilgrimages to
Santiago de Compostela (1154 55), the Grande Chartreuse (1162 63), and to Canterbury (1179).
Because of a disputed papal election, Alexander III sought refuge in France in 1162, where he
received Louis s welcome. Louis s protection of Thomas Becket, who had fled to France in 1164 to
escape the wrath of Henry II, received widespread approval. Louis asserted his rights over the French
church, especially regarding episcopal elections in his realm and control over royal churches. To
provide continual support for his royal policies, elections to royal bishoprics often went to members of
the king s own household or to families loyal to Capetian interests. As a benefactor to the Templars,
Louis gave them the land for their commandery at Savigny, along with sizable rents and privileges. He
also made generous grants to smaller monastic

How can Ricci protect her product design? 4. What are the pros and cons of the mail ordering market
strategy? What are the pros and cons of alternative distribution methods? The biggest benefit that the
mail order marketing strategy will yield to Ricci is that she gets to choose when and where the Beach
Carrier is offered for sale. With this feature she can choose who distributes her product as well. The
next big pro for the mail order strategy is that she will receive immediate feedback on the
effectiveness of the system. If after the first wave goes out there is a lag in sales, she may need to
think of a new method to market/sell her product. A major disadvantage to the mail order system is
that oftentimes a small picture in a catalog is not an effective representation of the product itself and
could turn people off to potentially purchasing the Beach Carrier. Another con to this system is that
Ricci may not be reaching enough of the target consumers through her system. Her target
demographic, women, would not necessarily be reached by a Boating magazine. Also, advertising
through a magazine is a very ineffective way to reach a large market because it is very unlikely that
many potential customers are subscribed to that

Milkweed Research Paper
Milkweed in the Garden Common milkweed, asclepia syricia, is favorite choice among monarch
butterflies for host plants to their larvae because of its low toxicity. Because milkweed spreads from
runners deep underground, it needs a lot of surface warmth to trigger growth, so it does best as a first
emergent or in recently mowed fields where light and heat can reach the soil. Because of this,
common milkweed does not perform well in home landscaping. The cool shade offered by broad,
leafy perennials inhibit the germination of milkweed. Since landscaped gardens are not cut back in the
summer, the milkweed does not get the needed sunlight to send up late shoots for the summer and fall
monarch population. I have chosen to include green and purple milkweed for my front gardens.

Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart better known as, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
(1756 1791) was born in Salzburg, Austria to Leopold and Anne Marie Mozart. Leopold Mozart (1719
1787) was a violinist, composer and the Vice Kapellmeister to the court of the Archbishop of

them on music and othe subject at which they also exceeded in these areas as well. Leopold teaches
Mozart how to play the clavier, organ, and violin. At the age of four, he had already mastered some of
the works his father had him play and by the time he was five, he had already composed a small

three years to the courts of Paris, London, Munich, Mannheim, The Hague, and back to Paris, home

Scum Frogging at Shakamak
Locating bass can sometimes prove to be a futile attempt leaving one to wonder, where did they all

searching shallow and deep, shade and sun, grass and rock, dead falls and standing timber for any bass
willing to take the bait. I had decided that the bass just were not in a feeding mood but I was. I eased
into a cove and pondered my predicament over a cold drink and turkey sandwich. I had searched every
possible hiding spots in that lake and wondered what it would take to salvage the day after such a long
trip to enjoy some of the great bass fishing Shakamak State Park has to offer. My boat drifted deeper

prefers to be close to deeper water and cover so that they can move into it if danger approaches. The
bigger bass came from the narrow stretches of thick scum that lined the deeper banks where the water
underneath this scum was two to three feet. Most of the scum was in the shallow coves so that s where
most of the bass were caught but when I came across the occasional deep scum line there was nearly

What Are The Characters In The Novel Paperboy
1, The first paragraph of the novel Paperboy talks mainly about the characters. The story talks about
the stabbing so the character may have experienced some horrible things. Then it goes on by stating
why the main character (Victor) has a disability to have a talk fluently. And lastly, it said that character
named Mam has lain too by the main character and that might mean they don t have a good
relationship with the main character.
2. If a character in the story was represented by an animal I would classify Victor as a snake and Ara T
as a rat. Victor is a snake because people actually call him a snake. They call him that since he hisses
whenever he s stuck on a word so he could sneak up on it. Ara T is a rat because he collects trash, has
dirty baggy clothes, and goes around the streets. This portrays a rat because they re dirty and roam the
streets.
3. There are many patterns in the book. One of the patterns I spotted was that he goes to knock on the
door to collected weekly fees and at first he is always scared. But every time he talks to a neighbor
they all give him warm welcomes and shows that they can understand and care for him. Another
pattern I spotted was always he messes up in every house. He messed by saying a bad word to the
neighbor, messes up by leaving a question and standing there for a minute, and he messed up by lying
to Mrs.Rat.
4. An artifact that would help you understand the character IS this book because it s his diary/memoir.

My Dreams Of My Superpowers
Superpowers You can do anything that you set your mind to! This was a very common phrase that my
parents would say to me when my siblings and I were younger. Now at the age of 17 I understand that
it s supposed to inspire me to follow my dream. But that s not how the mind of my five year old self
translated it. At five years old I was more focused on playing with barbie dolls and watching
superhero movies. My favorite superhero was batman. He would always make sure to save the day
and get the bad guys. At five years old my dreams for my future were nothing like they are now. They
mostly revolved around having some type of special ability. I wanted to have telekinesis which was no
doubt inspired by watching Race to Witch Mountain. Most of the movies that I watched at five years
old had some type of main character who either had a superpower or was a superhero. Most of my
dreams were to be like them and have some cool superpower that I could use. So when my parents
kept telling me that I can do anything as long as I try, I don t think they meant that I can have any
superpower I want. Looking back on it now, most of the time that my parents said that phrase was
when I told them I couldn t do my homework because it was too hard. They most likely meant for that
saying to inspire me to work hard and finish my homework. But at five years old I thought that if this
phrase applies to homework then why can t it apply to everything else, like gaining a superpower. My

Field Programmable Gate Array ( Fpgas )
ABSTRACT:
Placements of logical blocks in FPGA use many optimization algorithms in heuristic manner. Main
objective is to provide minimization in wire length during the task placement inside Reconfigurable
FPGAs, which will decrease the area, power and delay and increase the speed of execution.
Optimization algorithms are applied in the Benchmark circuits and the results are compared. Due to
the technological advancement, density of the devices increases so that necessitates improvement in
minimization of wire length. Hence this project, proposes an optimum solution for wire length
minimization.
KEYWORDS:
FPGAs, Optimization algorithm
INTRODUCTION
Field Programmable Gate array (FPGAs) is becoming important implementation platforms for the
digital circuits. The main requirement is to utilize the FPGA s static resources in proficient manner.
Most of the commercial FPGAs will have the same structure. A 2D array of programmable logic
blocks that can implement multiplicity of bitwise logical functions bounded by channels of wire
segments to interconnect logic block I/O.
Fig 1: Basic Internal Structure of FPGA
There are two stage design in FPGA s are scheduling, Placement and Routing.
Scheduling
Determining sequence of executing the tasks with deadlines, i.e., real time Scheduling. The Worst case
Response time and feasibility analysis under scheduling algorithms of great importance.
Placement
The FPGA s placement is to create a placed configuration

Mattel Barbie State of Depression
Mattel
Barbie s state of depression
OVERVIEW
Mattel, the largest toy company based on revenues, is the manufacturer of Barbie, Hot Wheels,
Matchbox cars and board games. Barbie dolls (Mattel s flagship brand) were introduced in 1959. With
these dolls attracting 7 to 12 year old girls, different varieties of Barbie dolls were released into the toy
market. Mattel dominated the toy market till the late 1990s. But in 2001, when MGM s Bratz dolls
were introduced, the realistic look of these dolls attracted girls and they started abandoning Barbie
dolls. Now Barbie faces stiff competition not only from Bratz but from Mattel s own American Girl.
Between 2001 and 2004, Barbie sales fell by 27.5% due to stiff competition from Bratz. MGM ...

Mattel turns 64 this year, with much of that time spent at the forefront of the toy industry which built
brand recognition: in Mattel s case, this is a positive thing. The brand remains very popular among
customers.
This long history has also allowed sufficient time to develop effective marketing strategies. This
includes an integrated focus on the customer. One of the most significant ways this is accomplished is
through market research in an attempt to satisfy the market s wants by releasing new products
annually. Mattel also follows a code of ethics, as well as requiring ethical actions of their suppliers.
Finally, Mattel contributes to the communities in which it operates, particularly to causes benefiting
children. It makes it very easy for stakeholders to support a company that will reciprocate the support.

  • 2. Racism Racism is a term that is often used to describe a variety of social, culture and economic problems, but has, unfortunately, acquired so many contradictory meanings that it takes on the aura of a myth, it has become increasingly difficult to define . Although the term wasn t officially featured in the Larousse Dictionary until 1932, racism had been a dark cloud hanging over the global horizon for centuries (de Benoist, 1999). Whenever there are people of different cultural and social characteristics introduced into the mix, a recipe for racism and the hostilities it generates is created. Because racism defies a singular definition but is usually represented by the categorizing of people according to certain criteria, it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In their zeal for prosperity, many countries have exploited lesser developed nations and their natural resources as well as so called inferior or primitive peoples for economic gain (Vorster, 2002). This is how slavery and colonialism, which have too often flourished throughout history, became the primary examples of racism or the development of the mentality that white (civilization) was right. When this desire for wealth and the power it represented encouraged territorial expansion with a vengeance, the enslavement of indigenous peoples throughout Africa in particular was justified until well into the twentieth century. When Germany had suffered a staggering blow to its nationalist image after its humiliating defeat in World War II, a crazed dictator named Adolf Hitler was able to satisfy his lust for power and at the same time bring his vision of a supposedly superior Aryan race eerily close to realization through genocide or the extermination of Eastern European Jews. The third and possibly most compelling cause of racism is collective fear (Vorster, 2002, p. 296). This creates group solidarity particularly among minority groups and is centered around protecting their own interests (Vorster, 2002). It is this fear that ignites feelings of prejudice, an emotional rather than rational reaction to perceived biases (Vorster, 2002). These prejudices are formed by mistaken ... • 5. Police Suspicion Essay Many things go into making a decision for a police officer on a daily basis. Assessing a threat is an activity that any police officer must do in order to better stay safe within the community and to live long enough to see retirement. There are obvious and easy to pick out things which give red flags to an officer such as weapons, disregard for the safety of yourself or others, and clear intent to harm the officer. Other, less obvious factors, also must come into play. The factor which we are going to look at in this paper is age. During February of 2006, five researchers observed police officers in Savannah Georgia for 132 8 hour shifts. After each stop police officers would debrief the researchers and talk about how and why a character was deemed as raising suspicion. Over the course of this research, there were 174 documented cases of suspects raising suspicion. In order to form suspicion officers must have, at any time, became doubting, distrustful or otherwise troubled or concerned about an individual. Suspicion arose in a majority of cases due to the abnormal behavior of the individual(s) that seemed to pique the interest of the officer. Root explains that the developed world has necessary tools to guard themselves against uncertainty and risk. They also can count on social institutions and welfare programs to manage risks. Engaging business activities, developed world is dealing with risk by developing products and marketing, for instance. Developing and marketing new products require capital, and capitalism by nature is geared toward capital accumulation, to make profits. Whereas, as Root points out, the developing nations don t have enough capital to improve their lives and climb out of poverty. The idea is that a poor nation not being able to invest, the economy does not grow, so they remain poor. According to Root, the wealth gap between the rich and poor nations has widened tremendously. However, it is necessary to also explore other contributing factors for the economy of the developing nations not being able to grow. However, Root explains that uncertainty and risk are the factors how developed countries have grown rich by turning uncertainty into risk. Of course, the presence of institutions are needed to make the risk management possible. For example, institutions might discourage people to acquire education to learn new skills to engage business activities to accumulate capital (p. 4). The Results Of Gothic Architecture The results of Gothic architecture in York In the 12th century architecture saw the progression from Romanesque architecture to the Gothic era, which saw the forthcoming of the prodigious cathedrals that were to become the architectural symbol of the middle ages. This was during a time of high aspirations. As well structural developments Gothic architecture is also associated with a change in thinking and social attitudes that are represented in numerous ways, essentially appealing to emotions. After the fall of the Roman Empire the political culture shifted from the feudal system to monarchy, bringing forth a cultural identity. Poetry and art became more personal and intimate, giving people individuality. The representation of Christ changed from a godlike hero in the battle between good and evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To respond, architects believed that light was the closest substance to God s true presence and focused on making a network of ribs and vaults reaching towards heaven. He viewed Jane s femininity as a weakness and tried to do everything in his power to make sure she was rested and did not push herself too hard. Yet, John was the one who fainted, which is usually considered a predominantly feminine trait. His fainting demonstrates the fragility of masculinity. • 22. Human Computer Interaction ( Hci ) Essay Emotion is a distinguishing feature of human beings. It is not because other beings cannot express emotions, but we are good at grasping emotions of our fellow beings. Emotions play an important role in the decisions we make in our day to day lives. We express emotions in almost everything we do, such as; we express anger when we face atrocities, we express sadness when we hear news of demise, and we express happiness when we get what we want. Further, emotions are not just limited to our personal lives. In fact, conservatively, we express emotions in our professional life as well. Likewise, technology plays an irrefutable role in our lives. Our dependency on technology has increased over the years, and at times, we feel its intrusiveness as well (Grint Woolgar, 1997). We are depending more and more on the technology and further, we are hoping the technology to sense us and understand us better, in order to serve us well. Human Computer Interaction (HCI) has emerged as a field to understand and contribute more to the interaction between technology and humans. The adaptable and interdisciplinary nature of HCI has spawned multidimensional topics. For instance, to understand the collaborative nature between the machine and humans, mixed initiative systems emerged. To sense and ease work of the human beings, intelligent systems came into existence. Brown material, such as dead leaves, shredded newspaper, and dead flowers is the base layer. Green waste such as grass clippings, kitchen waste, and manure are the next layer. Finally add a layer of garden soil. This should all be at least three foot by three foot high, which needs to be watered and aerated (Staff, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Personal Narrative-Scum Frogging At Shakamak Scum Frogging at Shakamak Locating bass can sometimes prove to be a futile attempt leaving one to wonder, where did they all go? During one such outing at Shakamak State Park located in Jasonville Indiana. I found myself searching shallow and deep, shade and sun, grass and rock, dead falls and standing timber for any bass willing to take the bait. I had decided that the bass just were not in a feeding mood but I was. I eased into a cove and pondered my predicament over a cold drink and turkey sandwich. I had searched every possible hiding spots in that lake and wondered what it would take to salvage the day after such a long trip to enjoy some of the great bass fishing Shakamak State Park has to offer. My boat drifted deeper into the shallow cove and as I approached the shoreline I began to hear a sound I had not heard since I was a boy fishing farm ponds in Tennessee. Even though the sound brought on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On this trip I found that the bass preferred the scum that covered these lay downs or the scum that was located near this cover. Bass will cruise along under the cover of the scum in search of baitfish but prefers to be close to deeper water and cover so that they can move into it if danger approaches. The bigger bass came from the narrow stretches of thick scum that lined the deeper banks where the water underneath this scum was two to three feet. Most of the scum was in the shallow coves so that s where most of the bass were caught but when I came across the occasional deep scum line there was nearly always a good bass lurking beneath. Skakamak State Park provides great bass fishing with lots of different cover available for the bass. • 38. What Are The Characters In The Novel Paperboy 1, The first paragraph of the novel Paperboy talks mainly about the characters. The story talks about the stabbing so the character may have experienced some horrible things. Then it goes on by stating why the main character (Victor) has a disability to have a talk fluently. And lastly, it said that character named Mam has lain too by the main character and that might mean they don t have a good relationship with the main character. 2. If a character in the story was represented by an animal I would classify Victor as a snake and Ara T as a rat. Victor is a snake because people actually call him a snake. They call him that since he hisses whenever he s stuck on a word so he could sneak up on it. Ara T is a rat because he collects trash, has dirty baggy clothes, and goes around the streets. This portrays a rat because they re dirty and roam the streets. 3. There are many patterns in the book. One of the patterns I spotted was that he goes to knock on the door to collected weekly fees and at first he is always scared. But every time he talks to a neighbor they all give him warm welcomes and shows that they can understand and care for him. Another pattern I spotted was always he messes up in every house. He messed by saying a bad word to the neighbor, messes up by leaving a question and standing there for a minute, and he messed up by lying to Mrs.Rat. 4. Now at the age of 17 I understand that it s supposed to inspire me to follow my dream. But that s not how the mind of my five year old self translated it. At five years old I was more focused on playing with barbie dolls and watching superhero movies. My favorite superhero was batman. He would always make sure to save the day and get the bad guys. At five years old my dreams for my future were nothing like they are now. They mostly revolved around having some type of special ability. I wanted to have telekinesis which was no doubt inspired by watching Race to Witch Mountain. Most of the movies that I watched at five years old had some type of main character who either had a superpower or was a superhero. Most of my dreams were to be like them and have some cool superpower that I could use. So when my parents kept telling me that I can do anything as long as I try, I don t think they meant that I can have any superpower I want. Looking back on it now, most of the time that my parents said that phrase was when I told them I couldn t do my homework because it was too hard. They most likely meant for that saying to inspire me to work hard and finish my homework. But at five years old I thought that if this phrase applies to homework then why can t it apply to everything else, like gaining a superpower. My family and I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
