Employee Productivity Is The Backbone Of Any Enterprise
Chapter 1: Problem Definition
Background
Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the backbone of any enterprise.
According to Amabile and Kramer (2012), the source of productivity at any company ...is the
individual knowledge workers who get things done every day (para. 1). And according to Axilrod
(2015), the typical employee is at his or her desk for an average of approximately five hours a day,
paid for by the company. Thus, in the current climate of globalization, outsourcing, downsizing, and
pension reduction, it is vital for administration and management to stay on top of what sustains
employee loyalty and employee productivity. Several elements contribute to effective employee
productivity, including employee job satisfaction and morale (Axilrod, 2015; Manson, 2014; Jarrow,
2013; Kaupelyte, 2013; Turner, 2013; Amabile Kramer, 2012; Walters, 2010; Bowles Cooper, 2009).
Neely (2013) asserts that Regardless of the profession or type of work, the central element that has
had a stake in productivity, longevity and overall success of any organization [is] employee morale (p.
13).
The technology sector is one of the fastest growing in the business, if not the fastest growing sector.
Like many others in other sectors, companies in the technology sector are facing the challenges of
employee productivity and are initiating actions toward performance management (Axilrod, 2015) to
...focus... on the performance of employees and [ensure] their

Different Properties Of Polymers That Each Reaction
Discussion The results demonstrated the various properties of polymers that each reaction produced.
For the nylon polymerization, a condensation reaction took place and produced a long, polymer string.
As described in Figure 1, the product was clear and several meters long, and the fibers held together
when stretched. However, when a portion of the nylon string was heated, fibers weakened. The nylon
turned a bright white, and, when the stirring rod was used to move the piece, the string broke in half.
Ultimately, the reaction presented the fact that polymers are sensitive to heat and easily thermally
decompose. In contrast, for the methyl acrylate polymerization, an addition reaction occurred and
produced a soft, white flat wad of polymer substance. The methyl acrylate polymer had the
consistency of chewed gum, but tore easily when stretched. Therefore, the reaction revealed that the
type of reaction (addition or condensation) plays a key role in determining a polymer s properties.
Additionally, the cornstarch experiment also displayed a non Newtonian fluid s features. While the
polymer was subjected to many tests, its unusual properties were observed. It acted like a liquid when
left alone, but it cracked when squeezed. In conclusion, the three experiments demonstrated the
polymer s wide spectrum of properties and a variety of its subgroups. As seen in Figure 3, the percent
yield exceeded one hundred, indicating a source of error. When weighing, the methyl acrylate

Sourd Vs Cullinan
While Hollywood seems adamant to push the pace of its films to the absolute extreme, it is refreshing
to be able to sit and patiently enjoy a film that rejects this silly philosophy. With Sofia Coppola s latest
film, which earned her the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival becoming only the second
woman to do so in the process, one enters an almost entire different era of filmmaking that, though
superior in many ways, has become antiquated for many viewers. Now this is not the first film
adaptation of The Beguiled novel, written by Thomas Cullinan; the novel was adapted in 1971 with
Clint Eastwood in the starring role, but Sofia Coppola decided to give her own spin at the novel and
succeeded in extraordinary ways. This film tells the story of an injured Union soldier (Colin Farrell)
who is taken in by an all girl boarding school in Virginia until he heals. Now the film ... Show more

The cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd has already been nominated for an Academy Awards for his
work on The Grandmaster a few years ago, and it would be a crime if he is not nominated again. Of
course, we are only halfway through the year and I m sure other beautiful films will be released, but if
I had to bet today The Beguiled would not only be nominated for this prestigious award but it would
win. However, what makes the cinematography of this film great is not simply beautiful framing and
lighting, but it enhances the characters. The aesthetic is reminiscent of period films like Barry Lyndon
or Tess, two films whose cinematographers were awarded for their work on their respective films.
Truly every frame of this film looks as though it belongs to an impressionist painting, and even the
films that displayed cinematographic excellence of the past few years seem sub par in comparison to

Manchester DBQ
When Manchester first built its big mechanized cotton machine, it became the leading textile
manufacturing city in the whole world. Much of its population in 1850s was made up with the
working class and immigrants from parts of Britain and even Europe. In 1851, it was granted a royal
charter after Queen Victoria s visit. The Reform Bill granted Manchester representation in parliament
and middle classmen the right to vote. All this was due to the exponential growth of Manchester
during the Industrial Revolution. According to the Encarta World English Dictionary, Industrial

their bodies thin and frail, their limbs feeble, their complexions pale, their eyes dead. This is the horror
that Flora Tristan witnessed; people were working more than half a day with no food, clothes, and the
working conditions were full of toxic air and other harmful substances. Her standpoint in this
statement can be said as being non biased as she is a socialist and thus, she cares (Doc. 7). People
reacted violently to these conditions, which forced the government to pass the Ten Hours Act, which
limited the number of hours a worker could work to ten hours a day. This resulted in better condition
of the workers. William Abram, a journalist and historian, noticed, the condition of the factory
laborers has been vastly improved (Doc. 10). This shows the result of the reaction of the people. The
point of view of William Abram is factual and accurate as he is a journalist and a historian, and his
work is to provide people with the truth. As witnessed by Frances Kemble, actress, poet, and
dramatist, people were [s]houting No Corn Laws when she arrived in Manchester during the inaugural

The Life of Carl Friedrich Gauss
Mathematicians have always formed a very important role in history. From the Greeks to the modern
era, mathematicians have made spectacular discoveries and critical contributions to the world of
mathematics. Because of great mathematicians, the human race is exploring and discovering unknown
boundaries of space and technology. The life of Carl Friedrich Gauss was full of phenomenal
adventures and discoveries. He was born in Brunswick, Germany on April 30th, 1777 to poor working
class parents. Gauss father was known as a hard worker and an honest man but heavily discouraged
Gauss from attending school to follow a family trade. On the other hand, Gauss mother and uncle
recognized his remarkable intelligence at an early age. Gauss intelligence was so powerful that one
day at the age ten solved the problem that his arithmetic instructor gave him with one number, 5,050.
The simple math problem for Gauss was to write all whole numbers between one and 100 and add up
their sum. Furthermore, he first went to college at the age of fourteen and was financially sustained by
Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand who was the Duke of Brunswick. While studying language at Caroline
College, he discovered that a regular polygon with seventeen sides could be drawn with a compass
and a straight edge. He was so impressed with his discovery that he turned to study mathematics.
Mathematics composed a vital part of the life of Friedrich Gauss. All of his contributions and
advancements were so

Separation of a Mixture of Solids
PURPOSE The purpose of this experiment is to become familiar with the separation of mixtures of
solid and learn separation techniques based on the chemical properties of a substance.
PROCEDURES
1. Separating out the Iron
a. Use your digital scale to determine the mass of your weighing dish.
b. Empty the entire mixture of solids from the plastic bag into the weighing dish and determine the
gross mass of the total mixture and weighing dish. Compute the net mass of the mixture: this is equal
to the gross mass of the weighing dish with the mixture less the mass of just the weighing dish
determined in 1 A.
c. Spread the mixture into a very thin layer over a full sized piece of paper.
d. Cut a second piece of paper into a 10 cm square. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In this time Cooper was never thanked for her effort to maintain ethical business practices and to
report inappropriate actions. Cooper has since moved on and left the company. WorldCom acquired
Arthur Andersen as the independent external auditing for the company. As WorldCom grew after the
merger with MCI, Andersen began to invoice less than they should have. The charges were defended
as an opportunity to prolong business with WorldCom. (Kaplan and Kiron, 2007). This is an
immediate red flag for a company. Where were the ethical practices of the independent auditor? If the
auditor has no ethics, how can one possibly be assured that the company is performing its intended
function appropriately? The board of directors should have immediately been informed of Andersen s
practices and made a decision to confront Andersen s practices and possibly obtain new independent

Hunting For Michigan Morels By Ben Smith
Hunting for Michigan Morels
Ben Smith
ENG 100
Introduction: The state of Michigan is great for hunting edible mushrooms. Some of the common
mushrooms people like to hunt for are the chanterelle, honey or stumpers , and the morel. The morel is
one of the more popular mushrooms that people look forward to hunting. Michigan s atmospheric
conditions make it a great state for these mushrooms to thrive in during the season. Before you go
hunting, it is important to know the etiquette and a little about the particular mushroom you re hunting
so not to make the mistake of accidently picking one that could potentially harm you. Because there
are so many mushrooms that are edible here in Michigan, I choose to focus on one of my favorites the
morel.
Topics:
As mentioned, one of the most common edible mushrooms that people look forward to hunting is the
morel. Not only are they one of the most hunted mushrooms here in Michigan, they are also one of the
most easiest mushrooms to correctly identify. Before we discuss the description of the morel it is
important to know when to go searching for this delicious mushroom. Here in Michigan, the best time
to spot morels is early spring. They can be pretty unpredictable as to where they will pop up and you
may not find them in the same spot the next year. I ve seen them along trails, in fields, along paved
roads or even in a pile of old wood mulch. You will find them alone or in a group with others on the
ground. A

Walter Mitlter s Character Analysis
Walter Mitty is an average, middle aged man living a dull life, and is married to a bossy wife. He does
just about everything that Mrs. Mitty tells him to do, except see Dr. Renshaw; and because of all this,
Walter often daydreams about the more exciting lives that he could have possibly lived. These
daydreams become so elaborate that Walter is very easily distracted and does not communicate with
other people very well.
Walter s boring life leads him to become highly imaginative, though he grows more anti social at the
same time. All of this does not help him create bonds with anyone or feel as needed as he wants to be.
Walter s mundane life starts off with his wife telling him what he needs to do and go get. Mrs. Mitty
tells him to: slow down when he drives faster than forty kilometers per hour, to buy overshoes and
puppy biscuits, and asks why he s not wearing his driving gloves that she got for him (implying that
Walter should put them on). Knowing his wife would only be so long at the hair dresser and that she
wants him to get back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Walter starts off with a daydream about piloting an SN202 hydroplane for the Navy, through one of
the worst storms in twenty years of history. This shows that Walter wants to be essential to something
important. In another daydream, Walter is a world renowned surgeon getting praise from another
highly skilled doctor, Dr. Prichard Mitford. Even Dr. Renshaw is there and asks Walter ot perform a
surgery after he temporarily fixes the anesthetizer with a piece of a fountain pen. The last daydream
that Walter has, he is a captain in the war against Germany, taking on a suicide mission to pick up
heavily needed ammo. All of this must certainly prove, if anything, that Walter has the urge to be
wanted and finds that in his daydreams. This then further distances himself from society and those

De extinction could provide help to preserve highly endangered species. (Text 1, Line 26) The

Physics of Roller Coasters Essay
Roller coasters are driven almost entirely by inertial, gravitational and centripetal forces. Amusement
parks keep building faster and more complex roller coasters, but the fundamental principles at work
remain the same.
A roller coaster is like train. It consists of a series of connected cars that move on tracks. But unlike a
passenger train, a roller coaster has no engine or power source of its own. For most of the ride, a roller
coaster is moved only by the forces of inertia and gravity. The only exertion of energy occurs at the
very beginning of the ride, when the cars are pulled up the first hill, or the lift hill .
The purpose of this first climb is to build up potential energy. The concept of ... Show more content on

If the track slopes down, gravity pulls the front of the car toward the ground, so it accelerates. If the
track tilts up, gravity applies a downward force on the back of the coaster, so it decelerates.
The track begins with a steep climp, building up potential energy in the coaster car. The rest of the
track s hills, valleys, twists and turns are to change the built up energy back and forth between
potential energy and kinetic energy. As the train moves, it gradually loses energy to friction until it
reaches the end of the ride.
There are two major types of roller coasters, which are defined by what their tracks are made out of:
wooden and tubular steel. The tracks of wooden roller coasters are a little like traditional railroad
tracks. The metal wheels of the cars roll on a flat metal strip, about 4 to 6 inches across. This strip is
bolted to a running track made out of laminated wood. In most coasters, the car wheels have the same
flanged design as the wheels of a train (the inner part of the wheel has a wide lip that keeps the car
from rolling off the side of the track). The car also has another set of wheels that runs underneath the
track. This keeps the cars from flying up into the air.
Wooden coaster tracks are braced by wooden crossties and diagonal support beams. The whole track
structure is supported by wooden or steel beams However, since the track and support structure are so

The Journal Of The Elaine Race Riots
In the Journal of the Elaine Race Riots, I got to know the basic criticism that was for almost all the

Racial Riots was relatively new on the scholarly scene. It was, therefore, not surprising comparatively
to work that was been undertaken. The problems the poor Negroes faced during the 1919 s. The
Negroes had worked hard to raise the cotton crops but there was some trouble regarding the
settlements for the cotton crops. The white landlords and the sharecroppers never went along with
each other after the cotton was ready to be sold out. The landlords use to sell their crops the way they
felt was perfect according to them. Nothing was owned by the poor black planters during the

of the wages established for cotton and seeds that they grew. They were afraid of the whites. The

Mary Shelley Is The Author Of The Famed Novel Frankenstein.
Mary Shelley is the author of the famed novel Frankenstein. The era in which Frankenstein was
published happened to be one where religion was followed in more of a strict manner than today s
society follows. The monster in the novel was viewed as an abomination not only in its existence, but
even as an idea. Although the novel was released unanimously, it was critiqued mostly from a
religious standpoint. Critiques gave reviews saying that it was unintellectual work that was not worth
the time it took to read because they saw it as a threat to their religion. Mary Shelley herself never
specified anything for or against religion, although her husband did. Once it was discovered that Mary
Shelley was in fact the author of Frankenstein, many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mary never knew her mother because she died a few days after childbirth, and the woman that her
father remarried to was not an ideal or loving mother figure. She and Shelley did not get along at all.
Once she came into the picture, Mary did not enjoy her life at home. She loved her little family, but
she yearned to get away from all of their chaos. That s why she would go and read or write by her
mother s grave or in any other calm place she could find. That s also why she created Frankenstein s
mother to be so loving, gentle, patient, and nurturing. She made Frankenstein s mother based off of the
way she viewed her own departed mother in her head, and the way that Frankenstein suddenly wanted
to prevent death and disease because of her death was probably what Shelley wished she could have
done for the mother she never knew.
Mary also used many of her mother s beliefs in the novel. Wollstonecraft had a very hard life in her
early days. She lived in a financially unstable home and was taken over by domestic abuse and alcohol
addiction. Motivated by the life she once endured, he decided to support herself as a professional
writer rather than remaining dependent on others to care for her. She always wrote about the political
and philosophical issues in the world. An example of this would be her writing about the wrong inherit
rights of not only women, but of men. She believed in the concept of men and women in society
having equal rights to education. She fought

He looked into the water and saw that it was made up of a thousand thousand thousand and one
currents, each one a different colour, weaving in and out of one another like a liquid tapestry of
breathtaking complexity; and Iff explained that these were the Streams of Story, that each coloured
strand represented and contained a single tale. Different parts of the ocean contained different sorts of

The passage personifies the ocean by talking of its playful nature of the currents weaving in and out of
one another and its ability to change, as it has a mind of its own. The last sentence within the passage
states it was not dead but alive the use of short sentencing emphasised its point and indicates its
importance. However this short verse changes the mood of the passage, the reader is confronted by the
abrupt word dead this single word changes the tone of the sentence and explores that along with the
capability to be alive there also is the capability to be dead. This foreshadows the next passage and the
future of the ocean.
Within the passage the metaphor of the ocean being a library is emphasised, it states that it is the
biggest library in the universe this metaphor is used to try and example the extent of the sea and how
many stories it possesses, connecting it to a familiar idea for the reader. However the metaphor is later
contradicted renouncing the oceans likeness to a library of books due to the fluid form of the stories
and their changing nature and ability to become new versions and to join up with other stories. It
presents the ocean to be much more. This is revisited throughout the novel, exampling how the ocean
is much more and how it is a health source to plentimaws fish, directly impacting them as the ocean
becomes more toxic, as well as a way of life to all members of gup city.

The Film Adaptation Of Defiance By Nechama Tec
In the Modern Age, adaptation of stories of film has become commonplace in the film industry. These
films seek to bring stories into the visual spectrum, so that we can not only learn these stories but also
get the feel of what the people went through. Defiance written by Nechama Tec, tells the stories of the
Bielski Brothers and their struggle for survival in the second World War. The Bielski Brothers created
a community in the woods under the leadership of Tuvia Bielski, a community that welcome all and
provided for those trying to escape the violent oppression of the Third Reich. A film adaptation by the
same name directed by Edward Zwick, starring Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber attempt to bring this
story into the theatrical world. While entertaining the film adaptation of Defiance only provides a
snapshot of the events that happened to Jews and others in and around Nowogródek and Lida in the
German Occupied Poland. One of the failing of the film adaptation is that it fails to bring the real
stories in the same way the book does. The book was written through historical study, but as well as
through interview of the people that lived in the Bielski otriad. These people throughout the book
provide commentary on the many events that took place within the otriad. These commentaries, some
from people who were saved by the otriad, others by Tuvia himself, providing a human element that is
lost in the film. These people suffered for over two years in the forest after losing

What You Pawn I will Redeem

looking closely, there are many symbolic passages that my lead a person to much deeper conclusions.
Throughout the story there are many clues that hint at the fact that this quest may not have been real,

test 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, X and Y, because these chromosomes are most commonly associated
with miscarriages, failed IVF cycles, and genetic abnormalities caused by advanced maternal age. The
testing is 90 95% accurate, and we recommend it for all patients undergoing IVF.
CCS, or comprehensive chromosome screening, and it has many advantages over FISH. This testing
method can screen all 24 chromosomes, and current information suggests that CCS leads to better
implantation and live birth rates. Our Nashville genetics lab recommends CCS for patients with a
history of failed IVF cycles, recurrent miscarriage or advanced maternal age.
Our Nashville genetics lab can help you get started with PGD
If you re considering PGD with our Nashville genetics lab, you should first schedule an appointment
with an Ovation Fertility partner physician. You will then schedule a consultation or class with the
director of preimplantation genetic diagnosis at our Nashville genetics lab Amy Jones,

The Worth of Native Americans Essay
When you feel worthless, and are told you are completely worthless, and start to believe it, would you
have the strength to break down the walls? As a Native American it was hard, and still is, to feel as
though you belonged in America. They struggle with high rates of suicide, are told they aren t going to
be anything but and Indian, and some overcome. But why do they have to be put through it? From the
time the first settlers arrived, Native Americans lost all control over their land; and, in the 19th
century, when they gave all their land to the government, they were also promised health care benefits.
They relied on the government to give them the help they needed and when the sequester came, and
budgets were cut, they stopped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Junior said most of his friends would end up getting a diploma for attendance, some wouldn t get one
at all, and the ones smart enough to were too scared of the big world. He new that his people would
live up to most of the stereotypes and didn t want to be that way. Little Tree is a determined,
experienced, nieve, 5 year old boy. His parents died in a matter of a year together and he lived with his
half Cherokee grandfather, and full Cherokee grandmother. Little tree doesn t quite understand why
people treat Native Americans the way they do. He wants to believe everyone has good in them, but
his spirit as a Native American gets tested. Little Tree doesn t let what people say get to him. For
example, when he gives a little girl a pair of shoes and her dad smacks him for it and says We don t
take handouts. Little Tree didn t care about what the man had said or done, he was more worried about
the little girl because she had gotten so attached to them. Little Tree refuses to see the barriers and
most of the time, doesn t know that they are there. He didn t understand the fact that people didn t
appreciate his culture. Unlike the people effected by the budget cuts, and Junior, Little Tree doesn t let
his situation get the best of him. We all know it s hard to perservere through rough situations, and not
everyone can; but when you don t let your predicament influence the choices you make, you can

The Death Of The Police Officer Wilson
Every day, people make noise whether it be gibberish or intellectual thinking. It comes to many of us
naturally and we use our voices all the time to communicate with others, to sing, to yell, and to .....
But many of us are left to ask, what is voice? Voice is a way to express yourself intellectually, make
other minds think for themselves, and analyze the world around them causing change in society.
Ferguson, Missouri the town where 18 year old Michael Brown, an unarmed black man, was killed by
Officer Wilson, a white police officer on August 9, 2014. Protest had begun in Ferguson, but many of
the protester were nonviolent and felt the police were racially profiling black men. Three months later,
the Grand Jury released its verdict to not indict Officer Wilson. The verdict led to protests that became
violent quickly. The protester began to loot local business such as a McDonalds where they flat screen
TV s. People also broke into the liquor store that Michael brown stole the cigarillos from. The
protesters that broken into the liquor store stole sodas, chips, and other snack food items. Not only was
there looting, but there was many gunshots that rang in the town. According to Jon Belmar, the St.
Louis County Police Chief, ... personally heard about 150 shots fired. Belmar claims that none of his
police officers fired shots at protesters leading to people s conclusions that it must have been
protesters shooting. The next day, the town woke up to a city that was

The 2 films Invictus and remember the Titans are based on real life events, the main similarities
between the films are racism and sport. The films are based in different eras but the issues are similar

When both the black and white teams are brought together the tensions arise when the players were

Site Agent Syndrome
As we learned the Secret Service , and other agencies, assigns an experienced agent to oversee the
advance for every site the president visits during a trip. That site agent is often a senior member of the
detail, or at least trusted by his or her colleagues to supervise the complex process of managing even a
short visit from the most powerful man in the world. Site agents handle everything. They are
responsible for everything. Details matter. If the Secret Service suffers from complacency, or if agents
are not properly trained, the sites will fall apart. Errors, large and small, will cascade. Yet here are
some news making moments and blunders from the past five years: In November 2009 reality TV
stars Tareq and Michaele Salahi became known as the White House party crashers when they attended
a White House state dinner without an invitation. The Secret Service let the couple into the White
House, where their arrival was broadcast just like every other visiting dignitary. The appearance raised
concerns that guests weren t being properly vetted. Another memorable moment happened ... Show

faced charges of rape and murder in the past. This caused understandable alarm that a potentially
dangerous person was allowed to be in such close proximity to the president for so long. The Secret
Service responded that agents were in close proximity to the president and while the agents don t
know sign language, they know human language and would have taken action if Mr. Jantjie had

Essay Enlightenment from The Tao Te Ching
Enlightenment from The Tao Te Ching
The Tao Te Ching can be helpful to all, and the reading of it may be enlightening. Reading the Tao can
give much insight on the challenges and dangers that humans must face in this world, how a person
should live his life, the dangers of a powerful ruler, how the state should rule, how citizens should
serve the state, and the messages or forewarnings for us today.
Mankind has the tendency to be self conscious, greedy, and materialistic, and human history shows
this to be the case in all societies. Even in China they suffer from the selfish aspects of humans. The
Tao states on page 9, Chase after money and security/and your heart will never unclench. It is natural
for people to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand the Tao explains that one should lead a simple lifestyle. A simple life, is just that,
simple. A person can lead a very enjoyable life if one does not have worries about money. The Tao
states on page 8, In dwelling, live close to the ground./In thinking, keep to the simple./In conflict, be
fair and generous./In governing, don t try to control./In work, do what you enjoy./In family life, be
completely present. When one keeps their living conditions simple, are fair to others, and enjoys their
work, life can be very fulfilling. The Tao states that the family arrangement is the most honorable
virtue, and each family member must contribute to family unity according to page 54, Let the Tao be
present in your life/and you will become genuine./Let it be present in your family/and your family will
flourish. Having a successful family life should be everyone s goal, but this simple statement is rarely
what we see in the western world today. Instead of unity we either see one out of every two marriages
ending in divorce, or we see disunited families. Rarely do we see united families, and when we do it is
very refreshing.
A ruler, in China, is the most honored person in the Chinese society, but the ruler has an obligation to
be a moral and upright individual. The Tao addresses these individuals on page

Mary Barton Industrial Revolution
Gaskell wrote her first novel, Mary Barton, in 1848 at a time that was full of changes and
controversies, and that was reflected in it. Those who read Mary Barton for the first time can see the
changes in the novel and how it echoes the age that the novel was written in. Gaskell wrote Mary
Barton as a representation of society at that time which was characterized by a change in people s life
because of the Industrial Revolution. The Revolution brought not only class division but also gender
division. This life is the life that Gaskell lived and can be seen in her works. Characters in Gaskell s
novel are represented as real characters speaking everyday language which makes Mary Baron real
and a mirror of the Victorian age. Women have been treated differently from a writer to another, a
culture to another, and from an age to another. Gaskell sympathizes with women in general and with
fallen women in particular. She also presents them as victims. This industrial novel is an image of the
suffering of working class women, since even most of factory ... Show more content on

The Beauty Of Victoria s Secret
Behind the Beauty of Victoria s Secret Introduction: I remember the first time I ever stepped foot into
a Victoria s Secret, I was fifteen years old. I was mesmerized by the bright pink and white walls. The
signature PINK dogs scattered all over the PINK side of the store. The cosmetics section was
sparkling in the distance and the signature fragrances filled the air. I remember the feeling of finally
being grown up, here I was shopping for fragrances and bras in the same store that my Mom and Aunt
bought theirs at. When you are fifteen there is nothing else in the world that matters more than feeling
grown up, you are no longer a kid and there is a whole new world for you to explore. Talking to
women, most have the same first experience at the store, in fact it is nearly the closest thing to magic
some young girls will experience in this era of their lives. This unfortunately, is not going to be about
that coming of age experience this paper is a whole lot deeper than any fifteen year old girl buying her
first grown up bra could ever imagine. Victoria s Secret a common name in households with women
from young adulthood to mature womanhood. What is Victoria s actual secret you may ask? That
would be a whole behind the scenes world of global fair trade issues and sweatshops. When you start
to think about a company that many women shop at you do not think about where the objects you are
buying are really coming from. This is a company after all that has vouched for free

The Darkside of Whistleblowing
Being a Whistleblower Advantages and Disadvantages Whistleblowers are strong and brave people,
for example employees, who recognize a wrong behavior of someone or their organization and want to
do something against it in order to see that this behavior, or the wrong actions taken, are corrected for
them it is a matter of ethical responsibility, and they need to do it to feel comfortable in their skin. An
advantage of this behavior is that the Whistleblowers feel a deep satisfaction making a substantial
contribution toward the welfare of society. Of course, personal gratification isn t the only benefit of
becoming a whistleblower. For example, in qui tam cases under the federal False Claims Act,
Congress decided to give whistleblowers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But by the time he recognized he could gain profit out of blowing the whistle on this case, he followed
the wrong path. Instead of telling the right people inside the company, he collected material to prove
his theory and did not hesitate to trap colleagues which weren t really part of the fraud, just to get a
good amount of money for him out of it. So he chose his own interests above the interests of the
organization. The Federal Government as a representative of the United States had to act on behalf of
all people who had an interest in this case, such as doctors or competitors in the same industry. Federal
Government acted under the assumptions of the utilitarian approach. The utilitarian approach to
ethical decision making says that the ethical choice is one that produces the greatest good for the
greatest number (R.L. Daft D. Marcic, 2013).
Assessment of the actions taken by Douglas Durand and the Federal Government
According to Alex Storey (2009), in the old days, you were expected to be loyal or be fired. Durand
refused to be loyal to his company and chose to follow the ethical individualism approach. The
individualism approach suggests that actions are ethical when the individual s best long term interests,
because with everyone pursuing self interested, the greater good is ultimately served (R.L. Daft D.
Marcic, 2013). Because most people try to get the best for their own interest, there might be a great
understanding for the behavior of Douglas Durand

Summary Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman
In The Judgment of Thamus, Neil Postman (1992) discusses that any technology has two sided effects
and can indefinitely bring people some benefits or disadvantages. Technology is also one of the
indispensable elements in society. Postman (1992) supports his argument by analyzing the myths
about technology. Through the metaphor of Thamus, Postman (1992) states that it provides two
criteria for contemporary technology criticism technology always comes with a hidden cost and
people who create technology might not best judges of its value .
As a matter of fact, with the gradual development of science and technology, robots have been widely
used in people s work and life. On the one hand, robots have brought a mass of convenience to people.

As Thamus, the king of an Egyptian city said, although a person who invented the product cannot be
considered a reliable prophet. Because new technologies may change what we call know , truth and
even the deep rooted thinking habits. Actually, if we look back at the history of cell phones
infrastructure, we also found that it is really unpredictable. In the 1940s, the first mobile phone calls
appeared. However, they were made by cars using equipment weighing about 35 kilograms. And then,
the first commercial mobile phones made by Motorola were introduced to the market in 1983. These
mobile phones used first generation (1G) networks. Next, the development of mobile phones had a
rapid growth. In the meantime, the weight of mobile phones gradually decreased from about 800
grams to less than 160 grams during around 20 years. In addition, in the 1980s, the first network (1G)
was introduced to people on a large scale but its use was only restricted to the country s boundaries.
The second generation (2G) network was digital, not analog and its development began in the late
1980s. Then, the marketing demand began to shift from 2G to 3G in 2002. Compared with the
previous networks, the data and voice communications capabilities of 3G have increased significantly.
In present, 4G is applying with IMT Advanced and bring more convenience to people. The evolution
of mobile phone infrastructure is developing at an incredible rate. No one can accurately predict the

Dante’s Inferno in Milton´s Paradise Lost
Many arguments have been made that Dante s Inferno glimmers through here and there in Milton s
Paradise Lost. While at first glance the two poems seem quite drastically different in their portrayal of
Hell, but scholars have made arguments that influence from Dante shines through Milton s work as
well as arguments refuting these claims. All of these arguments have their own merit and while there
are instances where a Dantean influence can be seen throughout Paradise Lost, Milton s progression of
evil and Satan are quite different from Dante. Dante s influence on Milton is noted by many scholars
and is very apparent in several instances throughout Paradise Lost, however, Milton shows a
progression of evil through his own vision of Satan and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his article, he discusses many of the authors previously mentioned such as Samuel, Hollander, and
Gurteen, and develops his own ideas about Milton s use of Dante s form of punishments. He makes
note of the fact that when Satan returns to Hell after successfully tempting Eve...he hears a universal
hiss as he and his crew transform into serpents which is clearly an allusion to that which the thieves
undergo in Cantos 24 and 25 of Dante s Inferno.
Other scholars agree that there is some flicker of Dante through Paradise Lost but argue that, although
there are instances where it seems clear of the influence, Milton and Dante s versions of Hell and
Satan are quite different.
In S. Humphreys Gurteen The Epic of The Fall of Man: A Comparative Study of Caedmon, Dante and
Milton he says, the influence of Dante s strong imagination, however, is evident throughout Paradise
Lost. It is not plagiarism, it is not imitation, it is the effect that must necessarily follow from the
contact of one powerful imagination, strong intellect, and deeply erudite mind, on that of another, in
many respects, his equal. (Gurteen, 383) While he explores

  • 2. Employee Productivity Is The Backbone Of Any Enterprise Chapter 1: Problem Definition Background Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the backbone of any enterprise. According to Amabile and Kramer (2012), the source of productivity at any company ...is the individual knowledge workers who get things done every day (para. 1). And according to Axilrod (2015), the typical employee is at his or her desk for an average of approximately five hours a day, paid for by the company. Thus, in the current climate of globalization, outsourcing, downsizing, and pension reduction, it is vital for administration and management to stay on top of what sustains employee loyalty and employee productivity. Several elements contribute to effective employee productivity, including employee job satisfaction and morale (Axilrod, 2015; Manson, 2014; Jarrow, 2013; Kaupelyte, 2013; Turner, 2013; Amabile Kramer, 2012; Walters, 2010; Bowles Cooper, 2009). Neely (2013) asserts that Regardless of the profession or type of work, the central element that has had a stake in productivity, longevity and overall success of any organization [is] employee morale (p. 13). The technology sector is one of the fastest growing in the business, if not the fastest growing sector. Like many others in other sectors, companies in the technology sector are facing the challenges of employee productivity and are initiating actions toward performance management (Axilrod, 2015) to ...focus... on the performance of employees and [ensure] their ... • 3. Different Properties Of Polymers That Each Reaction Discussion The results demonstrated the various properties of polymers that each reaction produced. For the nylon polymerization, a condensation reaction took place and produced a long, polymer string. As described in Figure 1, the product was clear and several meters long, and the fibers held together when stretched. However, when a portion of the nylon string was heated, fibers weakened. The nylon turned a bright white, and, when the stirring rod was used to move the piece, the string broke in half. Ultimately, the reaction presented the fact that polymers are sensitive to heat and easily thermally decompose. In contrast, for the methyl acrylate polymerization, an addition reaction occurred and produced a soft, white flat wad of polymer substance. The methyl acrylate polymer had the consistency of chewed gum, but tore easily when stretched. Therefore, the reaction revealed that the type of reaction (addition or condensation) plays a key role in determining a polymer s properties. Additionally, the cornstarch experiment also displayed a non Newtonian fluid s features. While the polymer was subjected to many tests, its unusual properties were observed. It acted like a liquid when left alone, but it cracked when squeezed. In conclusion, the three experiments demonstrated the polymer s wide spectrum of properties and a variety of its subgroups. As seen in Figure 3, the percent yield exceeded one hundred, indicating a source of error. When weighing, the methyl acrylate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sourd Vs Cullinan While Hollywood seems adamant to push the pace of its films to the absolute extreme, it is refreshing to be able to sit and patiently enjoy a film that rejects this silly philosophy. With Sofia Coppola s latest film, which earned her the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival becoming only the second woman to do so in the process, one enters an almost entire different era of filmmaking that, though superior in many ways, has become antiquated for many viewers. Now this is not the first film adaptation of The Beguiled novel, written by Thomas Cullinan; the novel was adapted in 1971 with Clint Eastwood in the starring role, but Sofia Coppola decided to give her own spin at the novel and succeeded in extraordinary ways. This film tells the story of an injured Union soldier (Colin Farrell) who is taken in by an all girl boarding school in Virginia until he heals. Now the film ... The cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd has already been nominated for an Academy Awards for his work on The Grandmaster a few years ago, and it would be a crime if he is not nominated again. Of course, we are only halfway through the year and I m sure other beautiful films will be released, but if I had to bet today The Beguiled would not only be nominated for this prestigious award but it would win. However, what makes the cinematography of this film great is not simply beautiful framing and lighting, but it enhances the characters. The aesthetic is reminiscent of period films like Barry Lyndon or Tess, two films whose cinematographers were awarded for their work on their respective films. Truly every frame of this film looks as though it belongs to an impressionist painting, and even the films that displayed cinematographic excellence of the past few years seem sub par in comparison to this ... Much of its population in 1850s was made up with the working class and immigrants from parts of Britain and even Europe. In 1851, it was granted a royal charter after Queen Victoria s visit. The Reform Bill granted Manchester representation in parliament and middle classmen the right to vote. All this was due to the exponential growth of Manchester during the Industrial Revolution. Her standpoint in this statement can be said as being non biased as she is a socialist and thus, she cares (Doc. 7). People reacted violently to these conditions, which forced the government to pass the Ten Hours Act, which limited the number of hours a worker could work to ten hours a day. This resulted in better condition of the workers. William Abram, a journalist and historian, noticed, the condition of the factory laborers has been vastly improved (Doc. 10). This shows the result of the reaction of the people. • 6. The Life of Carl Friedrich Gauss Mathematicians have always formed a very important role in history. From the Greeks to the modern era, mathematicians have made spectacular discoveries and critical contributions to the world of mathematics. Because of great mathematicians, the human race is exploring and discovering unknown boundaries of space and technology. The life of Carl Friedrich Gauss was full of phenomenal adventures and discoveries. He was born in Brunswick, Germany on April 30th, 1777 to poor working class parents. Gauss father was known as a hard worker and an honest man but heavily discouraged Gauss from attending school to follow a family trade. On the other hand, Gauss mother and uncle recognized his remarkable intelligence at an early age. Gauss intelligence was so powerful that one day at the age ten solved the problem that his arithmetic instructor gave him with one number, 5,050. The simple math problem for Gauss was to write all whole numbers between one and 100 and add up their sum. Furthermore, he first went to college at the age of fourteen and was financially sustained by Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand who was the Duke of Brunswick. While studying language at Caroline College, he discovered that a regular polygon with seventeen sides could be drawn with a compass and a straight edge. He was so impressed with his discovery that he turned to study mathematics. Mathematics composed a vital part of the life of Friedrich Gauss. All of his contributions and advancements were so ... • 10. Hunting For Michigan Morels By Ben Smith Hunting for Michigan Morels Ben Smith ENG 100 Introduction: The state of Michigan is great for hunting edible mushrooms. Some of the common mushrooms people like to hunt for are the chanterelle, honey or stumpers , and the morel. The morel is one of the more popular mushrooms that people look forward to hunting. Michigan s atmospheric conditions make it a great state for these mushrooms to thrive in during the season. Before you go hunting, it is important to know the etiquette and a little about the particular mushroom you re hunting so not to make the mistake of accidently picking one that could potentially harm you. Because there are so many mushrooms that are edible here in Michigan, I choose to focus on one of my favorites the morel. Topics: As mentioned, one of the most common edible mushrooms that people look forward to hunting is the morel. Not only are they one of the most hunted mushrooms here in Michigan, they are also one of the most easiest mushrooms to correctly identify. Before we discuss the description of the morel it is important to know when to go searching for this delicious mushroom. Here in Michigan, the best time to spot morels is early spring. They can be pretty unpredictable as to where they will pop up and you may not find them in the same spot the next year. I ve seen them along trails, in fields, along paved roads or even in a pile of old wood mulch. You will find them alone or in a group with others on the ground. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He does just about everything that Mrs. Mitty tells him to do, except see Dr. Renshaw; and because of all this, Walter often daydreams about the more exciting lives that he could have possibly lived. All of this does not help him create bonds with anyone or feel as needed as he wants to be. Walter s mundane life starts off with his wife telling him what he needs to do and go get. Mrs. Mitty tells him to: slow down when he drives faster than forty kilometers per hour, to buy overshoes and puppy biscuits, and asks why he s not wearing his driving gloves that she got for him (implying that Walter should put them on). • 13. Physics of Roller Coasters Essay Roller coasters are driven almost entirely by inertial, gravitational and centripetal forces. Amusement parks keep building faster and more complex roller coasters, but the fundamental principles at work remain the same. A roller coaster is like train. It consists of a series of connected cars that move on tracks. But unlike a passenger train, a roller coaster has no engine or power source of its own. For most of the ride, a roller coaster is moved only by the forces of inertia and gravity. The only exertion of energy occurs at the very beginning of the ride, when the cars are pulled up the first hill, or the lift hill . The purpose of this first climb is to build up potential energy. The concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the track slopes down, gravity pulls the front of the car toward the ground, so it accelerates. If the track tilts up, gravity applies a downward force on the back of the coaster, so it decelerates. The track begins with a steep climp, building up potential energy in the coaster car. The rest of the track s hills, valleys, twists and turns are to change the built up energy back and forth between potential energy and kinetic energy. As the train moves, it gradually loses energy to friction until it reaches the end of the ride. There are two major types of roller coasters, which are defined by what their tracks are made out of: wooden and tubular steel. The tracks of wooden roller coasters are a little like traditional railroad tracks. The metal wheels of the cars roll on a flat metal strip, about 4 to 6 inches across. This strip is bolted to a running track made out of laminated wood. In most coasters, the car wheels have the same flanged design as the wheels of a train (the inner part of the wheel has a wide lip that keeps the car from rolling off the side of the track). The car also has another set of wheels that runs underneath the track. This keeps the cars from flying up into the air. Wooden coaster tracks are braced by wooden crossties and diagonal support beams. The era in which Frankenstein was published happened to be one where religion was followed in more of a strict manner than today s society follows. Critiques gave reviews saying that it was unintellectual work that was not worth the time it took to read because they saw it as a threat to their religion. These films seek to bring stories into the visual spectrum, so that we can not only learn these stories but also get the feel of what the people went through. Defiance written by Nechama Tec, tells the stories of the Bielski Brothers and their struggle for survival in the second World War. The Bielski Brothers created a community in the woods under the leadership of Tuvia Bielski, a community that welcome all and provided for those trying to escape the violent oppression of the Third Reich. As a Native American it was hard, and still is, to feel as though you belonged in America. They struggle with high rates of suicide, are told they aren t going to be anything but and Indian, and some overcome. But why do they have to be put through it? Little Tree didn t care about what the man had said or done, he was more worried about the little girl because she had gotten so attached to them. Little Tree refuses to see the barriers and most of the time, doesn t know that they are there. He didn t understand the fact that people didn t appreciate his culture. That site agent is often a senior member of the detail, or at least trusted by his or her colleagues to supervise the complex process of managing even a short visit from the most powerful man in the world. Site agents handle everything. They are responsible for everything. Details matter. If the Secret Service suffers from complacency, or if agents are not properly trained, the sites will fall apart. Reading the Tao can give much insight on the challenges and dangers that humans must face in this world, how a person should live his life, the dangers of a powerful ruler, how the state should rule, how citizens should serve the state, and the messages or forewarnings for us today. Mankind has the tendency to be self conscious, greedy, and materialistic, and human history shows this to be the case in all societies. Even in China they suffer from the selfish aspects of humans. Those who read Mary Barton for the first time can see the changes in the novel and how it echoes the age that the novel was written in. Gaskell wrote Mary Barton as a representation of society at that time which was characterized by a change in people s life because of the Industrial Revolution. The Revolution brought not only class division but also gender division. This life is the life that Gaskell lived and can be seen in her works. I was mesmerized by the bright pink and white walls. The signature PINK dogs scattered all over the PINK side of the store. The cosmetics section was sparkling in the distance and the signature fragrances filled the air. I remember the feeling of finally being grown up, here I was shopping for fragrances and bras in the same store that my Mom and Aunt bought theirs at. When you are fifteen there is nothing else in the world that matters more than feeling grown up, you are no longer a kid and there is a whole new world for you to explore. Talking to women, most have the same first experience at the store, in fact it is nearly the closest thing to magic some young girls will experience in this era of their lives. So he chose his own interests above the interests of the organization. The Federal Government as a representative of the United States had to act on behalf of all people who had an interest in this case, such as doctors or competitors in the same industry. Federal Government acted under the assumptions of the utilitarian approach. While at first glance the two poems seem quite drastically different in their portrayal of Hell, but scholars have made arguments that influence from Dante shines through Milton s work as well as arguments refuting these claims. All of these arguments have their own merit and while there are instances where a Dantean influence can be seen throughout Paradise Lost, Milton s progression of evil and Satan are quite different from Dante. Other scholars agree that there is some flicker of Dante through Paradise Lost but argue that, although there are instances where it seems clear of the influence, Milton and Dante s versions of Hell and Satan are quite different. In S.
