How To Write The Best College Application
Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of crafting the perfect college application essay is a task that
requires a delicate balance of insight, research, and personal reflection. Firstly, one must delve
into the nuances of effective writing techniques, from structuring compelling introductions to
crafting memorable conclusions. This necessitates a thorough understanding of the target
audience – admissions officers seeking authentic voices amidst a sea of applicants.
Moreover, navigating the fine line between showcasing one's achievements and conveying
genuine personality is a challenge in itself. It requires introspection and the ability to highlight
experiences that are not only impressive but also reflective of one's character and aspirations.
Additionally, incorporating anecdotes and examples to support key points adds depth and
credibility to the essay.
Furthermore, grappling with the constraints of word limits while striving for depth and clarity
can be daunting. Every word must be meticulously chosen to convey the desired message
effectively. Balancing humility with confidence is another tightrope act, as applicants must
present themselves as deserving candidates without appearing arrogant.
Ultimately, crafting the best college application essay is a multifaceted endeavor that demands
self-awareness, creativity, and precision. It's a process that involves numerous drafts, feedback
sessions, and revisions to ensure that every aspect of the essay aligns with the applicant's unique
identity and aspirations.
In conclusion, writing an exceptional college application essay requires more than just
proficiency in writing; it demands introspection, authenticity, and a deep understanding of the
admissions process. It's a journey of self-discovery and expression, where each word serves as a
testament to the applicant's potential and aspirations.

Alexander Hamilton Essay
Alexander Hamilton
Alexander Hamilton was a great man that will be remembered for being a great
major general of the armed forces of the United States of America. As well as the
secretary of the treasury. In 1769, at twelve years old he had a job as a clerk in a
general store and Alexander dreaded spending the rest of his life there. He wanted
something more for his future. He wished for a war to occur. He wanted to prove
himself to be more worthy then a clerk. To his thinking, only some brilliant and
heroic act on the battle field would give me a chance to achieve his hopes. He
seemed to be doomed to a life of clerking. For one thing, he was at the bottom of a
social ladder. His parents, who never married, separated when Hamilton was ... Show

He needed at least a year to study before he new enough Latin, Greek, and
mathematics to enter Harvard, Yale, or the college of New Jerseyat Princeton. Getting
that extra education proved no problem for him. He had arrived in New York with
letters of introduction to prominent citizens from Cruger. These people in turn
introduced Hamilton to their friends and associates. One of these new
acquaintances enrolled Hamilton in Dr. Barber s Academy in Elizabethtown, New
Jersey. Hamilton worked hard at his studies. He often stayed up past midnight
doing his homework by candlelight. In 1773, after less then a year of study, he
was ready for college. So Hamilton packed up his books and clothes and ferried
back across the Hudson to King s college. Hamilton intended to become a doctor
and worked even harder then he had at Dr. Barber s school. He found other
interests at King s as well. The college library was the largest Hamilton has ever
seen, and soon he was reading his way through it. Stories about great emperors and
their wars thrilled him, but he was most fascinated by books about politics and
economics. Besides the classic works on those subjects, Hamilton also loved to
read copies of debates in both the British parliament and the colonial assemblies.
He even founded a debating society to discuss the issue he had read about. By the
start of his second year at King s college, politics and debate had become a far
Determining The Measurement Of The Local Magnetic Field
Investigation
Up until 1830 s it was difficult to measure the magnetic field of the earth
quantitatively, due to there were no real standard to compare it against. Geologists in
that era had difficulties on navigating from point A to point B [2]. As electromagnetic
theory was industrialized through the 1800s, it was found that magnetic field
strength could be given a definite value using coils which carries the current. In this
EEi, the aim is to determine the measurement of the local magnetic field, comparing
to a known value created by a coil known its size, current and turns. [1]
With a compass on a bench in between 2 copper coiled PVC tube, it is possible to
make the compass move towards east or west by placing a magnetic field at right
angles to the compass direction. If it is possible to achieve moving the needle to
move to 45o It means that the coils is the same magnitude as the Earth s field but
acting in a right angle. [1]
Using the Biot savart Law to determine the magnetic coil strength due to the coil:
BC = 8 ОјoNI/(R x 5в€
љ5)
Where N = number of turns on each coil (not the total), I is the current, R is the
radius of the coil. The constant Ојo is the permeability of free space (4ПЂx10 7 Tm
/A). [1]
Aim
Using a designed apparatus by letting current pass through the copper wire around A
PVC tube, generate electricity and measure the local magnetic field by comparing it
to a known value created by a coil of known size, current, and turns.

The Human Rights Act Of 1998 Essay
The Human Rights Act of 1998, also abbreviated to HRA is a national law passed
in the United Kingdom and mostly came into force on 2 October 2000. Its purpose
is to incorporate the rights within the European Convention on Human Rights into
UK national law. This law allows the citizens of the United Kingdom to defend their
rights in UK courts and states that public organisations such as the Government,
Police and other public authorities must respect the people s rights by treating them
fairly and equally with dignity. Firstly, this essay will be discussing what the
Human Rights Act (1998) is and its effects. Secondly, this essay will be pointing out
the Articles and explaining the Act. Thirdly, this essay will be talking about the
history and why this act came into place. Finally, this essay will argue the necessity
of the Human Rights Act (1998). The Human Rights Act (1998) consists of sixteen
fundamental rights that everybody is entitled to from birth or since the act was put
into place. These sixteen rights are set out as Articles and along with these Articles
there are also Protocols to extend and adapt new rights into the Human Rights Act.
There are three main effects of the HRA: Firstly, it has subsumed the rights set out
by the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) into British national law; if
in any given situation there is a breach of rights, this allows people to take their cases
to British courts instead of seeking justice from the European Court of

Lego Case Study for
ISM class 5014
How did the information systems and organization diging changes implemented by
Knundstorp align with the changes in business strategy.
The Lego Cast Study is about how the toy company has been affected by the rapid
and vast change in the way children play with toys and their preference of the same.
Historically, Lego s have been a top rated toy for children and when that quickly
changed Lego was not expecting it and furthermore not prepared. The company
began to lose money, by 2004, the company found itself close to extinction, losing
$1 million a day. (Saunders Pearlson , 2013) A new CEO, Jorgen Vig Knudstorp,
was hired in an effort to bring the company back to its feet and the Lego toys back ...

This allowed Lego to better serve customers by enhancing their overtaxed order
management and fulfillment systems. (Pearlson Saunders)
At first glance many would discount the idea that Lego deployed a strategy of hyper
competition. However, when we consider some of the characteristics of hyper
competition, such as profit maximization, emphasis on customer satisfaction, and the
ability to dynamically adjust allocation of organizational resources, we see that Lego
did adopt a hypercompetitive strategy.
4. What advise would you give Knudstorp to keep Lego competitive, growing and
relevant?
I think Knudstorp did an amazing job with coming into Lego and taking a failing
business to a successful one by building a block style work environment. He made
standards which the employees were to follow which allowed them more creative
freedom and incentives to want to improve upon the great quality of their products.
One suggestion I would give Knudstorp would be to spend more time focusing on
his competition and to see what Lego could do to model what has worked for their
company and how it would fit in best with Lego. Mattel is Lego s biggest
competition in the market place. Mattel has advanced in the market place due to their
new product development effort. Toy developers are encouraged to think globally

Symphony No. 3 Concert Essay
The first composition was Symphony No.44 in E minor Trauer. It was composed
by Franz Joseph Haydn. The piece is from the Classical era and it is a symphony.
Symphony is a large orchestral piece in several movements. James B. Mallard III was
the conductor for the performance. The piece has four movements: Allegro con brio,
Menuetto Trio: Allegretto, Adagio, Finale: Presto. All of them were performed. The
first movement was fast. It started softly then it became louder. Regularly, the minuet
(with trio) of a symphonyis place at third movement. The second movement of this
piece is a minuet with trio. It was played fast, but it was not as fast as the first
movement. Those movements was sad. The third movement was slow and soft. Its
notes was higher and the mood is better. I felt that it changed from minor mode to
major mode in this movement. The closing movement was very fast and had a high
end.
The second piece was Concerto for Two Pianos in D minor, FP61. The piece was
composed by Francis Poulenc. This piece is from the Modern era. Its genre is
concerto. Concerto is a large composition for orchestra and solo instrument. This
piece has three movements: Allegro ma non troppo, Larghetto, Allegro molto. The...

This was the shortest piece in this concert. Jae Hyeong Park was the conductor of this
piece. It alternated between the strong, fast with high notes and the soft, slow
sections at the beginning. The melody of this piece was beautiful. I felt it bright and
fast. There was alternating with soft sections. The stringed instruments, the brass
instruments, the woodwind instruments and the percussion instruments worked well

Apple Life Cycle
Apple s I Phone is a creative product that has a constant product life cycle. Each
new phone that Apple produces goes through the same process. The simple lifecycle
of which I will discuss a small scope of within this essay relating to social factors is,
introduction, growth and maturity and then decline. Social Factors that revolve
around the life cycle of the I Phone are those such as trends, social media, social
reputationand the competition around you. As the I Phone is a technological

The social factors that tie in to the lifecycle of the I Phone relate or tie in to the

of said product. Social media is a social factor that can be accounted for, for a
substantial chunk of todays marketing of creative products. In relation to the I
Phone, large hype is made through streams such as Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram. When Apple is due to, or has released their creative products many
videos, stories and photos will be shared relating to this new product. This
phenomenon is causing business to embrace the web platform and it s strengths

John D Rockefeller Captain Of Industry Essay
John D Rockefeller was one of the first major businessmen in America. He was the
wealthiest person in the United States at the time, and had a big influence on
everyday lives of Americans with his oil refineries. John D Rockefeller s business
was captain of industry because he progressed creation of businesses and created
jobs, gave money to many different organizations and causes, and used his own
business tactics to complete an oil monopoly of the oil business. Rockefeller s
business was captain of Industry because it progressed creation of businesses and
created jobs for many people in the lower class. Rockefeller was able to complete a
monopoly with all of the oil refineries in the United States as shown in this quote: By

For example, he was able to secretly negotiate with the railroad companies for him
to have lower prices on his shipments. This resulted in Rockefeller making much
more profit, so he was able to lower his prices compared to other individual
businesses. Rockefeller built an oil monopoly by ruthlessly eliminating most of his
competitors (Costly). The individual businesses would eventually run out of
customers and Rockefeller would force them to sell their refineries to him at cheap
prices in order to complete his monopoly. When independent companies tried to
compete, Standard Oil quickly cut prices sometimes below cost to drive them out
of business. Then Standard raised prices to recoup its losses (Costly). This is how
Rockefeller was so smart about how to buy other companies so he could have a
monopoly. Some people viewed it as choices of a businessman, but some thought he

Russian Working Conditions in the 19th Century Essay...
Russian Working Conditions in the 19th Century
Karl Marx drafted The Communist Manifesto with Friedrich Engels in the mid 19th
century after living in Moscow and seeing the strife of laborers there. The document
was a reflection on the two men s belief that the wealthier members of society were
exploiting the working class. From his experience in Russian society, Marx became
concerned with the way that the majority of the proletariat class was living. The
filthy and inhumane working conditions, the negligible wages, and the way that the
employers disrespected their employees, all led to Marx penning The Communist
Manifesto. The theme of humans and nature is shown by the ideas that Marx and
Engels wrote about in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Paul Brians states,
The old feudal restrictions which had fixed peasants in place on the land and limited
their income had also guaranteed them a place in the world. They may not have
prospered, but they were often able to fend off starvation and homelessness simply
because they had been born onto estates from which they could not be removed
against their wills. [i]
After the feudal system was destroyed, workers moved to the cities and began to
participate in what would later be referred to as, The Industrial Revolution.
As technology increased and the demand for manufactured goods grew, more and
more Russian peasants migrated to the cities. Soon the big metropolises such as St.
Petersburg and Moscow became hubs for the demands of the industrial world. As the
number of factories expanded, so did the number of laborers, and in turn, the
conditions in these workplaces worsened. As Bonnell writes,
In the second half of the nineteenth century the face of traditional Russian society
began to change. Many villages and towns became transformed into factory centers,
and mills started to appear where once there had been only peasant huts. In the
leading urban centers of the Russian Empire St. Petersburg, the modern capital, and
its predecessor, Moscow the pace of industrialization was rapid and intense. Factories
and shops were springing up as never before, spilling over into the outskirts of each
city, and creating

If I were a proud owner of a new bakery shop, it would be called Eva s Pastries. My
bakery would be opened within a school district on Staten Island. The location of
my bakery would play an important factor to my target market; the reason why I
chose to open it within a school district is to attract the age range of the students
attending the schools, as well as the parents of the students. The convenience of my
bakery being opened within the school s range is to provide the students a place
near their school to grab some quick foodto eat nearby for breakfast or a snack. In
addition, my bakery would have different varieties of bread and cakes for the
students to grab to go and also dine in for individuals to sit in to enjoy their pastries.

Reflection On Clinical Evaluation
This semester, through the use of clinical evaluation, I have learned how to be a
better clinician. To clarify, I have learned how to evaluate the interventions,
measurement choices, implementation of interventions and data collection process
I practice with my clients to better understand how my clients are responding to
therapeutic treatment. The first experience with regards to clinical evaluation I
had began when I was required to complete the first immersion program report. In
order to better understand my positionality with clinical evaluation it is important
to know that this school year, I am interning with Henry Ittleson Center as a day
treatment therapist. Henry Ittleson Center is a day and residential child treatment
center located in the Riverdale area of the Bronx. The agency services children
between the ages of 5 to 13 who are diagnosed with severe emotional and
behavioral disorders and require special education services. As a result of clinical
evaluation being such a long process, for the sake of this paper, I will be focusing
on apprehension moments I encountered when completing my immersion report
such as frustrations I faced with my agencies limited objectives/goals selection,
frustrations with diagnosing children, difficulties with measurement selection,
biased results and quick glance at the progress made by my client since I began to
evaluate my own practices. My experiences with clinical evaluation formally began
when asked to complete section one of the immersion report, which includes brief
synopsis of client, target problem, goals and objectives. Initially, I found it quite
easy to list out the target problem, goals and objectives because in essence, I was
taking this information straight from the data base system we use in the agency to
file our reports. However, as I started to reflect on this process with my immersion
partner, I realized that I was not required or expected by my agency to ask my
client or my client s family what they wanted me to identify as my client s goals
and objectives for the year. As I went back into the system, I recognized that all the
objectives and goals available on the AVATAR (system we use to keep our records)
are dependent on the client s

the occurrence of the first corporate scandal of Enron and Arthur Andersen in late

In addition, these firms must file an annual report that discloses selected client
information. As of October 2012 there were approximately 2,500 accounting firms
that are registered with the PCAOB ( Guide to cob, 2012).
The firms that are registered with the PCAOB must use the PCAOB s established
auditing standards. Accounting firms must also use the PCAOB s ethics and
independence standards relating to their public company audits.
The PCAOB inspects accounting firms that provide auditing reports. Those firms
that provide reports for more than 100 companies are inspected annually. Those that
provide for less than 100 are inspected every 3 years.
The PCAOB also enforces compliance to Sarbanes Oxley by investigating and if
found necessary, may discipline registered accounting firms and persons that are
associated with that firm. This enforcement can include suspension of a person, fines
and/or imprisonment of up to 20 years for

History of the Christmas Cookie
Before Christmas brought its traditions into the world, ancient cooks baked sweets
for different occasions. In the Middle Ages, Europeans started cooking cookies for
Christmas. Christmas cookies were defined by cut outs and molds brought over to
Europe by the Dutch. The first American Christmas cookie is documented by Amelia
Simmons, who wrote American Cookery. The very first cookey had flour, coriander
seed, butter, sugar, pearlash and milk. A far cry from what Americans have come to
know and love as the Christmas Cookie.

Dark Matter and Dark Energy Essay
Dark Matter and Dark Energy
Dark Matter and Dark Energy are important. They can help us know how the universe
began. These two are the mysteries of the universe; they compose about 90% of the
universe. They are mysteries because we believe that they exist but we can t see them
or detect them. People question whether they manifest to be the same thing.
Astronomers know very little about their constitution so they cannot assume they are
related. Dark Energy is a mysterious force that drives the expansion of the universe.
Astronomers states that the universe is expanding and the expansion is accelerating,
so the unknown anti gravity force at work is termed dark energy. Dark energy has

Once the temperature of the Universe dropped below the neutron proton mass
difference, neutrons began decaying into protons. If the early baryon density was
low, then it was difficult for a proton to find a neutron with which to make helium
before too many of the neutrons decayed away to account for the amount of helium
we see today. So by measuring the He/H ratio today, they can calculate the necessary
baryon density shortly after the Big Bang, and, consequently, the total number of
baryons today. It turns out that you need about 0.05 M total baryonic matter to
account for the known proportion of light isotopes. So only 1/20 of the total mass of
the Universe is baryonic matter. This is probably the reason why Astronomers claim
that Dark matter must exist to account for the gravity that holds galaxies together. If
the only matter in the universe was matter we could directly detect, galaxies would
not have had enough matter to have ever formed. The galaxies we observe today
would fly apart because they wouldn t have enough matter to create a strong enough
gravity to hold themselves together. Dark matter is also responsible for amplifying
small fluctuations in the Cosmic Microwave Background back in the early universe
to create the large scale structure we observe in the universe today. Astronomers are
still in the hunt of the Dark energy and dark matter but they haven t found none. They
are undetectable which makes it

In general insurance, Insurers make use of data gathered previously out of
experience in order to predict the future liabilities. Such an estimate is made through
the help of a loss function in decision making, as well as mathematical optimization.
It is a common tendency to minimize the loss of the risk models and hence to do so
are different methods applicable in today s statistics. Frequentist expected loss,
Bayesian expected loss are mostly used; with Bayesian statistics being the
increasingly common methodology in actuarial science. Insurers also make an
estimate of the expected claims that arise in the future years, and so they need to hold
reserves based on the aggregate claim amount they could face in the near future.
Hence one way of doing this is by using the aggregate claim model. Therefore,
examining and comparing the different forms of loss distribution that could be used
in the aggregate risk model analysis, besides investigating about issues surrounding
the application of Bayesian statistics in such a context. Acknowledgement: I would

Introduction: Insurance by nature is an uncertain subject. The Insured events occur at
random times, particularly in a general insurance field, thereby the amount of claims
are also random. Based on the future ability to pay the claims the insurer has to
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fuel Cell Technology
One of the greatest problem faced by the world is pollution, which is causing a lot
of damage to the planet which is irreparable damage. The damaged being caused is
affecting the human society by polluting the basic needs like fresh air, water and
food (Everythingconnects.org, 2013). Pollution caused by humans is rising daily and
as a result radical changes to the planet are happening. Pollution is caused by many
things, but a major contributor is the automobile industry. Vehicles which are part of
our lives, they are emitting greenhouse gas which causes pollution.
Today there are about 1.2 billion cars on road in the world (Voelcker, 2014) and fossil
fuels like petrol, coal and crude oil are not renewable and burning these fuels causes

The positive terminal is a catalyst which is meant to speed up the chemistry in the
fuel cell. When atoms of hydrogen reach the catalyst they split into hydrogen ions
protons and electrons. The protons which are positive they attract towards the
negative terminal and travel from electrolyte towards this layer is made up of
plastic film and only protons can pass through it. This process powers the electric
motor the fuel cell is made of stacks of fuel cells because a single fuel cell has power
similar to a single battery.
The central theme is exploring if Fuel cell technology can be a viable alternative to
fossil fuel cars. Firstly, most cars on road use petrol or diesel. As fossil fuels are
non renewable these fuels are crude oil fossil fuels and have taken years to form,
but fuels are used at a faster rate than formed. Furthermore, the combustion of these
fuels leads to global warming and climate change caused by greenhouse gases from
the combustion. These effects can be solved by using fuel cells as a replacement
for fossil fuels. fuel cells have near zero emissions, as fuel cell cars use hydrogen
gas as fuel. The hydrogen gas reacts with oxygen from the air, this reaction s end
result is electricity and water (Torres, 2014). The use of fuel cells will drastically
lower the amount of greenhouse gases released, as only water comes out of the
exhaust instead of CO2 and N2. The effect of that
Mini Cooper Pros And Cons
Drop the top in this handsome little British people mover. The Mini Cooper now

The standard model is powered by a 1.5 liter, turbocharged three cylinder engine;
the S gets BMW s 2.0 liter, twin scroll turbocharged four cylinders and the top end
model garners a twin turbo motor also displacing at two liters. The three and four
cylinder engines are world s apart and, luckily, I had a full week of top down fun

Push the pedal hard and the turbos spool quickly I detected virtually no lag and that
didn t surprise me as BMW twin turbos are optimized to minimize the effect. Not
many small cars outside of sports cars are especially fun on the twisty roads. The
Mini Cooper S is an important exception as it handles the twisties with confidence not
a taint of understeer was detected. It doesn t plow into curbs, instead, it confidently
moves through them. Credit the standard dynamic traction control system with
improving front axle traction, especially when accelerating on slick or sandy
surfaces. But that s not enough to keep you centered under all conditions dynamic

Heart and Right Atrium
The heart is a hollow muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the blood vessels
to various parts of the body by repeated, rhythmic contractions. It is found in all
animals with a circulatory system, which includes the vertebrates.
The adjective cardiac means related to the heart and comes from the Greek
ОєО±ПЃОґО№О¬, kardia, for heart . Cardiology is the medical speciality that deals
with cardiac diseases and abnormalities.
The vertebrate heart is principally composed of cardiac muscle and connective
tissue. Cardiac muscle is an involuntary striated muscle tissue specific to the heart
and is responsible for the heart s ability to pump blood.

pulmonary and systemic circulations permanently kept entirely separate by a physical
barrier.
In the human body, the heart is usually situated in the middle of the thorax with the
largest part of the heart slightly offset to the left, although sometimes it is on the
right, underneath the sternum. The heart is usually felt to be on the left side because
the left heart is stronger . The left lung is smaller than the right lung because the heart
occupies more of the left hemithorax. The heart is fed by the coronary circulation and
is enclosed by a sac known as the pericardium; it is also surrounded by the lungs. The
pericardium comprises two parts: the fibrous pericardium, made of dense fibrous
connective tissue, and a double membrane structure containing a serous fluid to
reduce friction during heart contractions. The heart is located in the mediastinum,
which is the central sub division of the thoracic cavity. The mediastinum also contains
other structures, such as the esophagus and trachea, and is flanked on either side by
the right and left pulmonary cavities; these cavities house the lungs.
The apex is the blunt point situated in an inferior direction. A stethoscope can be
placed directly over the apex so that the beats can be counted. It is located posterior
to the 5th intercostal space just medial of the

There are 5 designated wilderness areas in the White Mountain National

wilderness areas there shall be no commercial enterprises, no permeant roads, and no
motor vehicles of any kind along with no structures in the wilderness areas. Also,
emissions from the surrounding area must be controlled so as not to disrupt visibility
within the wilderness areas.

Stereotypes In Ernest J. Gaines A Lesson Before Dying

Honors English IV
16 December 2015 Setting a novel in the south during the 1940s bring upon certain
racial stereotypes that are deeply rooted in the mainstream culture. While these
stereotypes may not always be true, they are extremely difficult to ignore and
escape from. In Ernest J. Gaines s novel A Lesson Before Dying, Grant Wiggins
struggles to break away from the social norms of Bayonne Louisiana, and finds it
challenging to convince others of his own worth. Although Grant has led a
successful life, and has a respectable career, his white counterparts still treat him as a
second class citizen. Jefferson is another product of the system, who is also unable to

While Jefferson had a trial with a jury of his peers, the general consensus of
Bayonne is that Young Black men had a predisposition for violent crimes. During
his supposedly fair trial, Jefferson is treated as less of a human. The prosecution
states, Gentlemen of the jury, look at him look at him look at this. Do you see a
man sitting here? Do you see a man sitting here?...Do you see a modicum of
intelligence (Gaines 7). The prosecution goes on to call Jefferson a hog , and
Jefferson takes this to heart. These men saying these terrible things about Jefferson
are in positions of high power, and it s only natural to believe what these powerful
men are saying. Jefferson later refuses food, complaining that, I m a old hog...just

about Manhood: Appropriating the Word in Ernest Gaines s A Lesson Before
Dying is a great analysis of how power is derived in the novel, and why the society
in Bayonne is arranged the way it is. Auger suggests that Gaines tries to show that
there are social institutions such as education, religion, and law that are overdue for
a change. Grant is a teacher, and is considered to be an intelligent man with some
degree of power. This is contrary to the social norms in 1940s Louisiana,
How Instant Messaging ( Im ) And Texting
Discuss how instant messaging (IM) and texting could be a benefit, or an obstacle, or
both, in your industry.
In my workplace, employees are able to connect with colleagues through internal
social media and instant messaging (IM) tools. The social media chat tool affords
employees (globally) to connect and discuss topics such as proposal support,
employees with special skillsets, training interest, online tutorial sessions (i.e.,
updating resumes, corporate management seminars), shared information obtained at
conferences and/or technology presentations, global engineering industry news, and
individual and team awards and recognition. Although a separate application,
messages generated through the social media tool are displayed in the company s
email inbox.
The IM feature is very beneficial because employees can simultaneously review a
document or spreadsheet and communicate/provide input to one another via online
IM, instead of over speakerphone which can be very distracting for employees
operating in a cube farm type environment (common practice within the industry).
To date, I have not viewed the internal social media and instant messaging (IM) tools
as obstacles; however, my email inbox gets very populated by the numerous social
media messages from employees who are sharing information or requesting support..
I don t always find time to review each message, but I am confident that if my direct

How Does Stalin Deserve The Great Purges
During the 1930 s, Stalin ordered large scale purges, targeting anyone who
displayed even the slightest sign of being a threat to the government. The
government was able to identify these people through family members or close
friends who informed on them. With this, people no longer expressed their true
opinions and instead conformed with the government s ideas in fear of persecution
( Purges and Praises ). About 20 million people that were suspected of performing
anti Soviet activities were executed, sent to Gulag labor camps, or forced them to
take part in a show trial, where they would be forced plead guilty publicly to
inconceivable crimes that they had never committed (Gracheva). Many officials and
military leaders were also executed after being convicted of treason. It is estimated
that one thirds of the Communist Party s three million members were put to death
during the Great Purge. However, the traces of the people that were murdered were
eliminated after the government rewrote history books and doctored photographs to
exclude them. Additionally, members of the NKVD, the Soviet secret police, were
killed at the end of the Great Purges, so that the people that had known too much
about this event would be eliminated.

Stalin and the state seized total control of the media: dictating what people say, read,

Churches were shut down and church leaders were arrested or executed. The
reasoning behind this was that anyone who worshipped God was a challenge to those
who worshipped Stalin through his personality cult

In the 15th section of The Worldhood of the World, Heidegger writes about the how
we can experience things phenomenologically if we pay attention to our everyday
environment. He calls this Being in the world or our dealings . Each entity that we
encounter has a Being, and in order to investigate those Beings, we must closely
investigate how we deal with the environment. Entities that we encounter are not
object, but what gets used, produced and more, such as a tool. Entities are not defined
as Things rather, the way in which humans interact with them changes their meaning,
and transform these entities into something that can be manipulated. Heidegger calls

He ends the section by asking whether people are able to grasp the concepts of
phenomenology.
In section 16, Heidegger first talks about the possibility that if the Dasein, humans,
are able to phenomenologically experience Being in the World (such as objects and
consciousness) instinctively, phenomenon could be held at bay and studied. He
then goes on talking about the un usability of ready to hand objects. He begins by
talking about equipment being conspicuous, something that might be damaged or
broken. By losing its usability, the tool also loses its usefulness and character as
ready to hand and is now pure presence at hand . However, the equipment isn t
perceived differently than before. For instance, a broken hammer isn t perceived as
a piece of steel and wood, but it would still preserve its identity as a hammer. He then
talks about obtrusiveness. He explains that equipment can be unusable because of
missing pieces. The more important the missing piece is, the more unusable the
equipment is. Lastly he explains that unusability can characterized as something that
stands in our way . Heidegger calls this obstinacy. Conspicuousness, obtrusiveness,
and obstinacy are capable of bringing presence at hand characteristics to ready at
hand objects through modifications of the equipment. However, even if this is the
case, we don t lose sight of the identity and function of the tool, because we are so

might be subtle, but there are definite changes you see by the end of the story. In the
beginning of the novel, Uncas is extremely reticent, and prefers to let his actions
speak for themselves. However, he has a strong moral compass and does not often
stray from the path that will help his companions, no matter the circumstances.
Being one of the last two Mohican Chiefs, he fights with valor against the Mingos
and French, and is strongly devoted to his father, Chingachgook and his companion
Hawkeye. Uncas is an expert at hunting and tracking, and these skills come in very
handy when his love interest, Cora, and her sister Alice are taken captive by
Magua, a rival Indian who wants revenge. Uncas being enamored with Cora is one
of the romantic aspects in the novel, and one that, at the time, was quite
controversial. Being that interracial marriages were not common, and in some
places was not allowed. Uncas role in early stages of their adventure was to see to
Cora and Alice. He attended their needs without complaint, and this shows the
compassionate side that until this point, was not seen in him. By the end of the
novel, Uncas had a major shift in how he was perceived and how he viewed himself.

Information Systems And The Business School
Introduction
Why is introduction MIS the most important class in the business school?
Management information systems is known as one of the most important class in the
business school because it helps you to success in order, function and efficiency. The
interesting part about information systems is that always will give you The
background you need to assess, evaluate, and apply emerging information systems
technology to business. Also, it offers in job security marketable skills whereas you
will get knowledge in abstraction, systems thinking, experimentation and
collaboration. Furthermore, Management Information Systems (MIS) not only is
based on software systems, but also includes set of business processes and useful
resources that work to put the information together from tactical systems. The entire
system is designed to the company to get tactical goals and meet strategies.
Basically, the role of any MIS organization could be compared with the heart of a
body. This means that information is the blood and MIS is the heart. For a good
function of the body should be flow pure blood, because it will help to regulate
correctly the brain. MIS has the same role in any organization, all information is
collected from distinct sources to all needed destinations. Additionally, MIS plays a
particular role of information generation, problem identification and communication
because all of this help to improve and take right the decision making.

Brace Your Beard Research Paper
Brace Your Beards: Winter is Coming
To some people a beard is nothing more than a facial feature, but to others it is the
ultimate form of self expression. Even at a first glance it is easy to differentiate
between a beard that is result of careful grooming and that which stems from simply
not shaving. In other words, growing a true manly beard takes time, knowledge and
no small amount of patience. Coincidently, these values are something that a real
man is supposed to possess, which is why manscaping stands as a symbol of
manliness.
So far, we talked about the commitment needed to grow a beard, but the most
important thing about it is the upkeep. This means washing your beard regularly,
trimming it whenever possible and using a wide array of quality products.
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an ultimate tip for skin care, since there are
numerous variables to take into consideration. Amongst them, the two most important
are your skin and hair type as well as the climate conditions. Because of this, you
need to pay special attention during the winter period and here are few tips that may

How Sports Can Help Someone Out Socially
1) Sports have played an important role in my life ever since I was very young.
Because of sports, I am very confident in myself. Although many people believe
sports are just to have fun and stay active, I believe that their influence leaves more
behind. I believe that playing sports can help someone out socially, physically, and
mentally. Participating in sports has completely and utterly transformed me into the
person that I am today.
2) I believe playing sports can help many people throughout their long life and also
through many years of school. Trophies, gold medals, and awards are a few
reasons why you might play a sport, but there is something else that you can also
gain in trying to achieve your goal. All the work you put in for a particular sport
can set you up for success and also can set you up for failure, but it can also leave
you with something that you will remember for the rest of your life.
3) An event that changed my way of life was the world swimming championship in
2011 in Shanghai. I was 15 years old when I competed. Participation in this event
gave me hope that I could fulfill my dream, the dream of all athletes, to participate in
the Olympic Games. After the world swimming championship I was more dedicated
to my swimming and my school. So far, my life has gone the way I hoped it would
and I have accomplished many of the goals that I have set out to achieve.

misunderstandings, and the current trends.
History of the Debate:
Public schools originated in 1647 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony and soon spread
across New England. They began with an elementary school for every fifty families
and a Latin school for every one hundred families. Their mission was to ensure that
Puritan children learn to read the Bible and receive basic information about their
Calvinist religion. 1 By 1840, conflict was at a climax in New York City. The public
schools had taken on a common school education that included a ... Show more

New York City adopted a 22 word Regent s Prayer as part of their Statement on
Moral and Spiritual Training in the Schools.
In 1962, the United States Supreme Court was called upon to interpret the
Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution citing
the Regent s Prayer in violation (Engel v. Vitale). In a 6 to 1 decision (with 2
remaining neutral) the Supreme Court decided that the Regent s Prayer, which was
to be said aloud by each student in the presence of a teacher at the beginning of each
school day, was unconstitutional: Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence
upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers, and our
Country. Mr. Justice Black delivered the opinion of the court:
The State s use of the Regents prayer in its public school system breaches the
constitutional wall of separation between Church and State...The Establishment
Clause does not depend upon any showing of direct governmental compulsion and is
violated by the enactment of laws which establish an official religion whether those
laws operate directly to coerce non observing individuals or not...When the power,

Conformation to the Supreme Court Essay
The appointment and conformation to the Supreme Court has become on of the most
sought after and most prestigious positions in the U.S. Government. In the past two
hundred years the Supreme Court has changed in many different ways and with each
decision affecting the delicate balance of the U.S. legal system the appointment of
justices has become a very watched over subject. In all conformation and appointment
to the Supreme Court there is politics involved but with each presiding president their
agenda is focused towards appointing a justice that expresses their ideas on the court.

Some justices have even held congressional positions. In 1908 1912 William H.
Taft was president afterward he was appointed to the Court and then was named
chief justice in 1921. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; Before 1936 there was a
religious biased to the court in that all of the justices that were appointed were
protestant. When Andrew Jackson appointed Roger B. Taney a catholic it broke the
protestant preeminence on the court.4 Another misrepresentation to the Supreme
Court was the geographical. In the courts pre civil war history it was assumed that
each region should have representation on the court, meaning that the larger more
populous states like Virginia, New York, and Massachusetts should have a seat on
the court. After the Civil war this tradition faded with the expansion of the United
States.2 nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;A total of six justices have been born out of
the United States all of whom served on the court before 1940. The first Justice to
be born outside the United States was James Wilson, in1742 and came to America
as a young man from Scotland. He was an original signer of the Declaration of
Independence and a member of the 1787 Constitutional Convention; he was also one
of the original members of the Supreme Court. One of the most important was
George Sutherland who came here from England and became a justice in 1922 and
was well known for constantly voting against most of Franklin
Columbine Shooting Theory
The Columbine Massacre that occurred on April 20th, 1999 is one of the biggest
shocks to hit the United States at that time. It was centered around two lonely and
depressed high school boys, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who had a highly
detailed plan on attending school with explosives and firearms. The perpetrators
murdered 12 students and a teacher during the attack along with injuring 21
additional people. The first victim who had their life taken was 17 year old Rachel
Scott who took shots in the head and in the torso when the two gunmen entered the
school. Scott was an energetic, sociable girl, who displayed concern for the well
being of others (About). Eric and Dylan ended the attack by committing suicide.
Rachel had received a journal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These boys did not make it all the way to high school with the intention to cause
harm. There were many links between them, such as: bullying, depression, video
games, social climate, gothic subculture, and music. The link between school
violence and bullying has increased in attraction exponentially after the Columbine
shooting. The shooters were classified as gifted children who had allegedly been
victims of bullying for four years. Many of those who are close to them regarded
them as the losers of the losers (Ball) . Klebold has also made remarks to his father
about his hatred toward the jock culture in his high school. He added that Harris had
been victimized by the jocks by stating to his father They sure give Eric hell. There
is no doubt this helped drive them to the decision they made. Before the shooting,
Harris was scheduled a meeting with his appointed psychiatrist and had complained
of depression, anger, and suicidal thoughts so he was prescribed with the
antidepressant
Sonnet 138 Analysis
The textual differences between the 1599 and 1609 renditions of Shakespeare s
Sonnet 138 subtly change the meaning and shift the focus of the poem. Most
notably, in the 1609 rendition, more emphasis is placed on their shared complicity
and Shakespeare more vividly paints his mistress as an individual opposed to a
third party construct. To begin, note the difference in lines 6 8 of both renditions:
Although I know my years be past the best, / I, smiling, credit her false speaking
tongue, / Outfacing faults in love with love s ill rest (1599) versus Although she
knows my days are past the best, / Simply I credit her false speaking tongue: / On
both sides thus is simple truth suppressed (1609). In the 1599 rendition, Shakespeare
admits to knowing he is old while in the 1609 rendition, his mistress is doing the
knowing. By changing the pronouns, Shakespeare makes their deceit seem more
mutual because she actively recognizes his age. Obviously, Shakespeare knows he is
old what matters is how much his mistress knows it. Allowing his mistress to do the
knowing heightens her deceit and by extension their mutual duplicity because the text
plainly conveys what she is lying about. Similarly, Shakespeare s complete rework of
line 8 in the 1609 rendition further shifts the focus by candidly admitting that On both
sides the ugly truth is being ignored. In the 1599 rendition, there is a very vague and
ineffective attempt at imagery instead due to the words outfacing and the
Military Forces in Vietnam Fighting for the Survival of...
The term ARVN many times is used to describe all military forces in Vietnam
fighting for the political survival of South Vietnam. It refers to the army within the
Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces (RVNAF), which includes the air force, navy,
marines, rangers, regional and popular forces, and civil defense forces. There are
four conventional field divisions and six light divisions which the ARVN were
structured into in 1956. In 1959 this was reorganized into seven infantry divisions
and three corps headquarters. This reorganization was to essentially better deal with
the communist led insurgency and to make the most of U.S. advisory efforts. From
there, there was an increase in the ARVN force structure which was comprised with
ten infantry... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meanwhile, the ARVN lived up to these negative views. They lost over 200,000 men
in combat, some of whom must have been committed to counterrevolutionary
alternatives. Ground commanders treated the notion of rotation the ARVN units to
the frontlines as a joke of sorts. For example, an attempt was made to transfer the
ARVN 18th Division in July 1969 to hot delta border regions for invaluable combat
experience. This meant that the ARVN were secondary players in terms of strategy,
tactics, and logistics. In other words, like Huei (2006) states the ARVN simply just
did what they were told (Huei, 2006). Based on the books we were provided about
the Vietnam War, I wanted to focus on the relationship the Americans and NVA had
with the ARVNs. More specifically, I wanted to examine how the ARVNs
relationship with both sides of the war shaped our perception of the Vietnam War. I
was inspired not only for personal reasons but to also see it through the lenses of the
Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) in South Vietnam.
What were the relationships like among the American soldiers and the ARVN
soldiers? What were the ARVN s duties and did they help accomplish anything?
Information about the ARVN soldiers is not clearly mentioned that we are unaware
of what they did during the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, from the guest speakers in
class they did not have much to say about their relationship with the ARVN nor if
they even had a relationship. Instead they proudly
The Impact Of Media On Sports
For the past years the media have had a big effect on society. Many people rely on
the media for news or sports coverage, but they don t realize that the media may
influence people s beliefs or way of behaving. The media cover sports in order to
provide information to the fans, but they also can create fake news to spark
controversy in sports. The world of sports is largely affected by the media as they
are a big topic to talk about throughout all kinds of media. Although the media can
provide information about sports to fans, it can also create positive and negative
conditions for the athletes. The media s portrayal of sports creates rivalries between
teams and players which increases competitiveness, damages professional
relationships, and lowers morals which affects the player s motivation and skill.
When the media begins to make comparisons between athletes and sports teams the
competitiveness between them increases. If athletes begin to notice that they are
being compared to another athlete, they may become motivated to work harder in
order to outdo their opponent. For instance, Cristiano Ronaldo, professional soccer
player, is constantly being compared with his arch rival Lionel Messi. These two men
are considered the best soccer players in the world, but they play for rival teams.
Their teams are also considered the two best soccer teams in the world which is
the main reason that they are always being compared. When Cristiano was asked
about his rivalry with Messi, he stated that the rivalry that the media created,
motivates him to push himself harder in order to surpass Messi. Cristiano s goal
has always been to become the best and this rivalry gives him an even bigger push
to train harder. The rivalry created by the media have benefited both the players and
the fans as they both have become motivated to play better and the fans get their
share as they get to witness a great match between these two amazing players.
Although the media can create healthy rivalries between players, it can also create
harmful ones. What may start as a simple friendly rivalry, can become a serious and
problematic issue in sports. Sometimes a rivalry can become intensely heated and it
may become violent. In the sport
Analysis Of The Movie I re Your Problem Annie
You re your problem Annie, and you re also your solution, is something
surprisingly deep from the R rated Comedy Bridesmaids (1:37:13). This movie is
about a girl, Annie, who along with falling on hard times has to plan her best friend,
Lillian s wedding while dealing with a crazy group of bridesmaids: Helen, the rich
perfectionist, Rita, the mother who hates her three boys, Becca, the newly wed, and
Megan, the overtalkative nutcase. Bridesmaids has a lot of truths about money,
success, and overall happiness. The main themes of the movie are that money will
not always make someone happy and that money does not make anyone better than
anyone else. With those themes there are also a lot of comparisons that could be
made with the movie including how Helen, the very rich, and Annie, the very poor,
constantly struggle to prove who would be a better maid of honor, and how Annie
could be an embodiment of the struggles millennials faced during and after the stock
market collapse.
Two characters that really show that money does not buy happiness: Megan and
Rhodes, a cop who becomes Annie s love interest. Megan is a very interesting
character in this movie because while she is very odd she really has her life put
together. She was able to overcome the obstacles that she talked about with Annie
and how she loves what she does (1:35:54 1:36:24). While Megan does make a lot of
money, she would most certainly be happy without and be able to have a fulfilled
life as long as she did what
Who Invented The Airplane Research Paper
I had always wondered how the Wright brothers invented the airplane. Slowly I had
become more and more interested in flight. Because of my interests, I decided to
build a time machine in my garage and take it to 1896, when the Wright brothers
first started working on the plane. It took me a year to completely finish the
machine. Then the day finally came to test it out. Shaking, I climbed into the small
cylinder and typed in 1896. After I pressed the button the machine shook.
Nervously and excitedly I opened the door. Surprisingly I found myself in a small
town. After walking around for a while I saw two men through the window of a
building. They seemed to be building something. Looking through the window I saw
the blueprints on the table, it looked like a plane. That was exactly what I was
looking for.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What are you building ? I asked, even though I already knew. They explained to me
their whole plan, like how they were going to make it and what they were going to
make it out of. That sounds very interesting I said. We could use an extra hand one
of the brothers told me. They asked me if I wanted to help. Very excitedly I agreed.
It was very hard work ,but it was also very fun. It was also amazing that I got to
work with the Wright brothers. It took us about a year to finish the plane. When
we were finished, we ran into small problem. Who was going to be the first to fly
it? I wasn t sure I wanted to fly it but then I started thinking. How cool would it be
to be the first person to fly ! So I decided to volunteer. Everyone thought it was
crazy for a girl to be the first to fly, but I didn t listen to them. It was exciting and
scary at the same time. No one knew how it was going to turn
Women Of The New Zealand Essay
Women make up 51% of the New Zealand population, however, women in New
Zealand parliament only make up just over 30% in parliament (2014). For women to
be represented in parliament, it means that women need to be seen as a norm in
government, and therefore all positions of power. This under representation can be
linked to factors such as the environment and the culture of the New Zealand
parliament and political parties. It is important to note that women are not a
homogenous group; and we have to include ethnicity and class, which links into
opportunity. This gender gap in parliament has caused societal issues to be silenced
and minority groups to be left out of decision making and therefore society.
New Zealand was the first country to give women the right to vote in 1893, however,
since then we have dropped to 27th when it comes to gender representation in
government, out of 188 countries. One of the many reasons as to why women are
under represented in parliament can be linked to the issue of the political obstacles
that face women. This is when they want to be in parliament, women whom are in
parliament, and the many women who this is not an option for due to lack of
opportunity. Women have to face this masculine model of politics and government.
Men are dominant in parliament, meaning that political life revolves around male
norms and values (Shvedova). This can be extended, politics is very much about
competition and confrontation. Rather than politics being
Effie Trinket Propaganda Essay
Later on in the scene, a particularly captivating shot captures Effie Trinket
introducing the propagandist video. With the aspect of editing, the camera s cut from
the video, to Effie (as representing the people of the Capitol), and then to the people
of the district, we see the propaganda, the influence, and the effects. The propaganda
video uses phrases like hard fought (war), sorely won (peace), traitors and treason
(district rebels) in order to strike feelings of fear, anger, and patriotism in the minds
of the people of the Capitol. Towards the end of the video, as an element of acting
in mise en scene, we see Effie mouthing the final words, This is how we remember
our past, this is how we safeguard our future . This phrase served as the justification
for an event like the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, continuing the focus on the costume aspect of mise en scene, Effie sports
outrageous outfits, makeup, and hair with vibrant colors. This represents the
economic and social position that Effie (representing the Capitol) holds in society.
Like the Holocaust, during the Hunger Games, the people of the Capitol are able
to ignore or minimize the problem because of the influence of the propaganda, but
also because it is in their benefit to ignore it. The people of Germany ignored the
circumstances of the Jewish, Polish, mentally or physically disabled, Gypsy, and
certain Christian peoples because Hitler pulled the nation out of an economic
crisis and created stability for the people. This can also be observed throughout the
Hunger Games, as the people of the Capitol, the receivers of the propaganda, are in
a stable position with extreme economic advantages. This also plays a key role in
the results of propaganda and the passage towards genocide, as the economic benefit
of the people in the Capitol creates the illusion of a developing utopian
What Is The Theme Of The Eve Of St Keats
In The Eve of St. Agnes, Keats finds out a happy alternative of Isabella, Lamia, and
the other darker odes linking with death or failure. The major theme of this poem is
the celebration of human love and as the representative of critics it is an imaginative
projection of young love (Stillinger, 1999, p. 38). There is no other way of reading
the poem than of an intense, happy, achieved lovethat makes it the contrast of
Isabella. It is a romantic love which has the heavenly experience and through Keats
magic Madeline and Porphyro fell they are in heaven. The poem tells the story of
Madeline and her lover Porphyro who are deeply in love but their families are against
of it. Madeline is practicing a St. Agnes Eve ritual to fulfill her dream... Show more

Agnes is one of Keats s best loved works or it is a celebration of romantic love.
Here Keats represents himself somewhere in the form of the narrator and
somewhere in the character of Porphyro. The main characters Madeline and
Porphyro who achieve their secret love and boldly escape from the decaying castle
are associated with Keats and Fanny Brawne. Keats shows the superstition
connection with St. Agnes Eve invites the emotional warmth of his happy lover
Fanny Brawne. The character of Porphyro is compared with Keats feelings and
also his expression of ambivalence toward women. No other poet of the Romantic
period seems to have been influenced so deeply by a woman than Keats. It is his
love for Fanny Brawne that inspires him to write much of his poetry after December
of 1818. John Middleton Murry writes in the same year, If the crude equation be
taken with enough imaginative margins, we may say that Madeline is Fanny and
Keats Porphyro and The Eve of St. Agnes was the first poem in which Keats was
inspired by his love for Fanny Brawne . Similarly, Murry also says that not only in
The Eve of St. Agnes but also in Lamia Keats is Lycius, Fanny Brawne is the Lamia,
and Apollonius is Charles Brown the realist, trying to break Fanny s spell over Keats
by insisting upon her as the female animal. The identification seems transparent

As well as the secretary of the treasury. In 1769, at twelve years old he had a job as a clerk in a general store and Alexander dreaded spending the rest of his life there. He wanted something more for his future. He wished for a war to occur. He wanted to prove himself to be more worthy then a clerk. To his thinking, only some brilliant and heroic act on the battle field would give me a chance to achieve his hopes. He seemed to be doomed to a life of clerking. For one thing, he was at the bottom of a social ladder. His parents, who never married, separated when Hamilton was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He needed at least a year to study before he new enough Latin, Greek, and mathematics to enter Harvard, Yale, or the college of New Jerseyat Princeton. Getting that extra education proved no problem for him. He had arrived in New York with letters of introduction to prominent citizens from Cruger. These people in turn introduced Hamilton to their friends and associates. One of these new acquaintances enrolled Hamilton in Dr. Barber s Academy in Elizabethtown, New Jersey. Hamilton worked hard at his studies. He often stayed up past midnight doing his homework by candlelight. In 1773, after less then a year of study, he was ready for college. So Hamilton packed up his books and clothes and ferried back across the Hudson to King s college. Hamilton intended to become a doctor and worked even harder then he had at Dr. Barber s school. He found other interests at King s as well. The college library was the largest Hamilton has ever seen, and soon he was reading his way through it. Stories about great emperors and their wars thrilled him, but he was most fascinated by books about politics and economics. Besides the classic works on those subjects, Hamilton also loved to read copies of debates in both the British parliament and the colonial assemblies. He even founded a debating society to discuss the issue he had read about. By the start of his second year at King s college, politics and debate had become a far
  • 3. Determining The Measurement Of The Local Magnetic Field Investigation Up until 1830 s it was difficult to measure the magnetic field of the earth quantitatively, due to there were no real standard to compare it against. Geologists in that era had difficulties on navigating from point A to point B [2]. As electromagnetic theory was industrialized through the 1800s, it was found that magnetic field strength could be given a definite value using coils which carries the current. In this EEi, the aim is to determine the measurement of the local magnetic field, comparing to a known value created by a coil known its size, current and turns. [1] With a compass on a bench in between 2 copper coiled PVC tube, it is possible to make the compass move towards east or west by placing a magnetic field at right angles to the compass direction. If it is possible to achieve moving the needle to move to 45o It means that the coils is the same magnitude as the Earth s field but acting in a right angle. [1] Using the Biot savart Law to determine the magnetic coil strength due to the coil: BC = 8 ОјoNI/(R x 5в€ љ5) Where N = number of turns on each coil (not the total), I is the current, R is the radius of the coil. The constant Ојo is the permeability of free space (4ПЂx10 7 Tm /A). [1] Aim Using a designed apparatus by letting current pass through the copper wire around A PVC tube, generate electricity and measure the local magnetic field by comparing it to a known value created by a coil of known size, current, and turns. • 4. The Human Rights Act Of 1998 Essay The Human Rights Act of 1998, also abbreviated to HRA is a national law passed in the United Kingdom and mostly came into force on 2 October 2000. Its purpose is to incorporate the rights within the European Convention on Human Rights into UK national law. This law allows the citizens of the United Kingdom to defend their rights in UK courts and states that public organisations such as the Government, Police and other public authorities must respect the people s rights by treating them fairly and equally with dignity. Firstly, this essay will be discussing what the Human Rights Act (1998) is and its effects. Secondly, this essay will be pointing out the Articles and explaining the Act. Thirdly, this essay will be talking about the history and why this act came into place. Finally, this essay will argue the necessity of the Human Rights Act (1998). The Human Rights Act (1998) consists of sixteen fundamental rights that everybody is entitled to from birth or since the act was put into place. These sixteen rights are set out as Articles and along with these Articles there are also Protocols to extend and adapt new rights into the Human Rights Act. There are three main effects of the HRA: Firstly, it has subsumed the rights set out by the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) into British national law; if in any given situation there is a breach of rights, this allows people to take their cases to British courts instead of seeking justice from the European Court of

Product Management and Lego Lego Case Study for ISM class 5014 How did the information systems and organization diging changes implemented by Knundstorp align with the changes in business strategy. The Lego Cast Study is about how the toy company has been affected by the rapid and vast change in the way children play with toys and their preference of the same. Historically, Lego s have been a top rated toy for children and when that quickly changed Lego was not expecting it and furthermore not prepared. This allowed Lego to better serve customers by enhancing their overtaxed order management and fulfillment systems. (Pearlson Saunders) At first glance many would discount the idea that Lego deployed a strategy of hyper competition. However, when we consider some of the characteristics of hyper competition, such as profit maximization, emphasis on customer satisfaction, and the ability to dynamically adjust allocation of organizational resources, we see that Lego did adopt a hypercompetitive strategy. 4. What advise would you give Knudstorp to keep Lego competitive, growing and relevant? I think Knudstorp did an amazing job with coming into Lego and taking a failing business to a successful one by building a block style work environment. He made standards which the employees were to follow which allowed them more creative freedom and incentives to want to improve upon the great quality of their products. One suggestion I would give Knudstorp would be to spend more time focusing on his competition and to see what Lego could do to model what has worked for their company and how it would fit in best with Lego. Mattel is Lego s biggest competition in the market place. Mattel has advanced in the market place due to their new product development effort. Toy developers are encouraged to think globally from

When independent companies tried to compete, Standard Oil quickly cut prices sometimes below cost to drive them out of business. Then Standard raised prices to recoup its losses (Costly). Russian Working Conditions in the 19th Century Karl Marx drafted The Communist Manifesto with Friedrich Engels in the mid 19th century after living in Moscow and seeing the strife of laborers there. The document was a reflection on the two men s belief that the wealthier members of society were exploiting the working class. From his experience in Russian society, Marx became concerned with the way that the majority of the proletariat class was living. As Paul Brians states, The old feudal restrictions which had fixed peasants in place on the land and limited their income had also guaranteed them a place in the world. They may not have prospered, but they were often able to fend off starvation and homelessness simply because they had been born onto estates from which they could not be removed against their wills. [i] After the feudal system was destroyed, workers moved to the cities and began to participate in what would later be referred to as, The Industrial Revolution. As technology increased and the demand for manufactured goods grew, more and more Russian peasants migrated to the cities. Soon the big metropolises such as St. Petersburg and Moscow became hubs for the demands of the industrial world. As the number of factories expanded, so did the number of laborers, and in turn, the conditions in these workplaces worsened. As Bonnell writes, In the second half of the nineteenth century the face of traditional Russian society began to change. Many villages and towns became transformed into factory centers, and mills started to appear where once there had been only peasant huts. In the leading urban centers of the Russian Empire St. Petersburg, the modern capital, and its predecessor, Moscow the pace of industrialization was rapid and intense. Factories and shops were springing up as never before, spilling over into the outskirts of each city, and creating

To clarify, I have learned how to evaluate the interventions, measurement choices, implementation of interventions and data collection process I practice with my clients to better understand how my clients are responding to therapeutic treatment. The first experience with regards to clinical evaluation I had began when I was required to complete the first immersion program report. In order to better understand my positionality with clinical evaluation it is important to know that this school year, I am interning with Henry Ittleson Center as a day treatment therapist. Henry Ittleson Center is a day and residential child treatment center located in the Riverdale area of the Bronx. The agency services children between the ages of 5 to 13 who are diagnosed with severe emotional and behavioral disorders and require special education services. As a result of clinical evaluation being such a long process, for the sake of this paper, I will be focusing on apprehension moments I encountered when completing my immersion report such as frustrations I faced with my agencies limited objectives/goals selection, frustrations with diagnosing children, difficulties with measurement selection, biased results and quick glance at the progress made by my client since I began to evaluate my own practices. My experiences with clinical evaluation formally began when asked to complete section one of the immersion report, which includes brief synopsis of client, target problem, goals and objectives. Initially, I found it quite easy to list out the target problem, goals and objectives because in essence, I was taking this information straight from the data base system we use in the agency to file our reports. However, as I started to reflect on this process with my immersion partner, I realized that I was not required or expected by my agency to ask my client or my client s family what they wanted me to identify as my client s goals and objectives for the year. As I went back into the system, I recognized that all the objectives and goals available on the AVATAR (system we use to keep our records) are dependent on the client s

In the Middle Ages, Europeans started cooking cookies for Christmas. Christmas cookies were defined by cut outs and molds brought over to Europe by the Dutch. The first American Christmas cookie is documented by Amelia Simmons, who wrote American Cookery. The very first cookey had flour, coriander seed, butter, sugar, pearlash and milk. A far cry from what Americans have come to know and love as the Christmas Cookie. By 1924, the ingredients had started to change to what Americans know as butter, eggs, sugar, flour and milk. These two are the mysteries of the universe; they compose about 90% of the universe. They are mysteries because we believe that they exist but we can t see them or detect them. People question whether they manifest to be the same thing. Astronomers know very little about their constitution so they cannot assume they are related. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the temperature of the Universe dropped below the neutron proton mass difference, neutrons began decaying into protons. If the early baryon density was low, then it was difficult for a proton to find a neutron with which to make helium before too many of the neutrons decayed away to account for the amount of helium we see today. So by measuring the He/H ratio today, they can calculate the necessary baryon density shortly after the Big Bang, and, consequently, the total number of baryons today. It turns out that you need about 0.05 M total baryonic matter to account for the known proportion of light isotopes. So only 1/20 of the total mass of the Universe is baryonic matter. This is probably the reason why Astronomers claim that Dark matter must exist to account for the gravity that holds galaxies together. If the only matter in the universe was matter we could directly detect, galaxies would not have had enough matter to have ever formed. The galaxies we observe today would fly apart because they wouldn t have enough matter to create a strong enough gravity to hold themselves together. Dark matter is also responsible for amplifying small fluctuations in the Cosmic Microwave Background back in the early universe to create the large scale structure we observe in the universe today. Astronomers are still in the hunt of the Dark energy and dark matter but they haven t found none. They are undetectable which makes it

Such an estimate is made through the help of a loss function in decision making, as well as mathematical optimization. It is a common tendency to minimize the loss of the risk models and hence to do so are different methods applicable in today s statistics. Frequentist expected loss, Bayesian expected loss are mostly used; with Bayesian statistics being the increasingly common methodology in actuarial science. Insurers also make an estimate of the expected claims that arise in the future years, and so they need to hold reserves based on the aggregate claim amount they could face in the near future. Hence one way of doing this is by using the aggregate claim model. This process powers the electric motor the fuel cell is made of stacks of fuel cells because a single fuel cell has power similar to a single battery. The central theme is exploring if Fuel cell technology can be a viable alternative to fossil fuel cars. Firstly, most cars on road use petrol or diesel. As fossil fuels are non renewable these fuels are crude oil fossil fuels and have taken years to form, but fuels are used at a faster rate than formed. Furthermore, the combustion of these fuels leads to global warming and climate change caused by greenhouse gases from the combustion. These effects can be solved by using fuel cells as a replacement for fossil fuels. fuel cells have near zero emissions, as fuel cell cars use hydrogen gas as fuel. The hydrogen gas reacts with oxygen from the air, this reaction s end result is electricity and water (Torres, 2014). The use of fuel cells will drastically lower the amount of greenhouse gases released, as only water comes out of the exhaust instead of CO2 and N2. The effect of that

He then goes on talking about the un usability of ready to hand objects. He begins by talking about equipment being conspicuous, something that might be damaged or broken. By losing its usability, the tool also loses its usefulness and character as ready to hand and is now pure presence at hand . However, the equipment isn t perceived differently than before. Although many people believe sports are just to have fun and stay active, I believe that their influence leaves more behind. I believe that playing sports can help someone out socially, physically, and mentally. Participating in sports has completely and utterly transformed me into the person that I am today. 2) I believe playing sports can help many people throughout their long life and also through many years of school. Trophies, gold medals, and awards are a few reasons why you might play a sport, but there is something else that you can also gain in trying to achieve your goal. All the work you put in for a particular sport can set you up for success and also can set you up for failure, but it can also leave you with something that you will remember for the rest of your life. 3) An event that changed my way of life was the world swimming championship in 2011 in Shanghai. I was 15 years old when I competed. Participation in this event gave me hope that I could fulfill my dream, the dream of all athletes, to participate in the Olympic Games. • 40. The Removal of Prayer from Public Schools Essay The removal of prayer from public schools is a very controversial and misunderstood debate. This paper will address the history of the debate, common myths and misunderstandings, and the current trends. History of the Debate: Public schools originated in 1647 in the Massachusetts Bay Colony and soon spread across New England. They began with an elementary school for every fifty families and a Latin school for every one hundred families. Their mission was to ensure that Puritan children learn to read the Bible and receive basic information about their Calvinist religion. 1 By 1840, conflict was at a climax in New York City. It was centered around two lonely and depressed high school boys, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who had a highly detailed plan on attending school with explosives and firearms. The perpetrators murdered 12 students and a teacher during the attack along with injuring 21 additional people. The first victim who had their life taken was 17 year old Rachel Scott who took shots in the head and in the torso when the two gunmen entered the school. • 43. Sonnet 138 Analysis The textual differences between the 1599 and 1609 renditions of Shakespeare s Sonnet 138 subtly change the meaning and shift the focus of the poem. Most notably, in the 1609 rendition, more emphasis is placed on their shared complicity and Shakespeare more vividly paints his mistress as an individual opposed to a third party construct. To begin, note the difference in lines 6 8 of both renditions: Although I know my years be past the best, / I, smiling, credit her false speaking tongue, / Outfacing faults in love with love s ill rest (1599) versus Although she knows my days are past the best, / Simply I credit her false speaking tongue: / On both sides thus is simple truth suppressed (1609). In the 1599 rendition, Shakespeare admits to knowing he is old while in the 1609 rendition, his mistress is doing the knowing. By changing the pronouns, Shakespeare makes their deceit seem more mutual because she actively recognizes his age. Obviously, Shakespeare knows he is old what matters is how much his mistress knows it. Allowing his mistress to do the knowing heightens her deceit and by extension their mutual duplicity because the text plainly conveys what she is lying about. Similarly, Shakespeare s complete rework of line 8 in the 1609 rendition further shifts the focus by candidly admitting that On both sides the ugly truth is being ignored. In the 1599 rendition, there is a very vague and ineffective attempt at imagery instead due to the words outfacing and the

It refers to the army within the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces (RVNAF), which includes the air force, navy, marines, rangers, regional and popular forces, and civil defense forces. There are four conventional field divisions and six light divisions which the ARVN were structured into in 1956. In 1959 this was reorganized into seven infantry divisions and three corps headquarters. They lost over 200,000 men in combat, some of whom must have been committed to counterrevolutionary alternatives. Ground commanders treated the notion of rotation the ARVN units to the frontlines as a joke of sorts. For example, an attempt was made to transfer the ARVN 18th Division in July 1969 to hot delta border regions for invaluable combat experience. This meant that the ARVN were secondary players in terms of strategy, tactics, and logistics. In other words, like Huei (2006) states the ARVN simply just did what they were told (Huei, 2006). Based on the books we were provided about the Vietnam War, I wanted to focus on the relationship the Americans and NVA had with the ARVNs. More specifically, I wanted to examine how the ARVNs relationship with both sides of the war shaped our perception of the Vietnam War. Information about the ARVN soldiers is not clearly mentioned that we are unaware of what they did during the Vietnam War. • 45. The Impact Of Media On Sports For the past years the media have had a big effect on society. Many people rely on the media for news or sports coverage, but they don t realize that the media may influence people s beliefs or way of behaving. The media cover sports in order to provide information to the fans, but they also can create fake news to spark controversy in sports. The world of sports is largely affected by the media as they are a big topic to talk about throughout all kinds of media. Although the media can provide information about sports to fans, it can also create positive and negative conditions for the athletes. The media s portrayal of sports creates rivalries between teams and players which increases competitiveness, damages professional relationships, and lowers morals which affects the player s motivation and skill. When the media begins to make comparisons between athletes and sports teams the competitiveness between them increases. If athletes begin to notice that they are being compared to another athlete, they may become motivated to work harder in order to outdo their opponent. For instance, Cristiano Ronaldo, professional soccer player, is constantly being compared with his arch rival Lionel Messi. These two men are considered the best soccer players in the world, but they play for rival teams. Their teams are also considered the two best soccer teams in the world which is the main reason that they are always being compared. When Cristiano was asked about his rivalry with Messi, he stated that the rivalry that the media created, motivates him to push himself harder in order to surpass Messi. Cristiano s goal has always been to become the best and this rivalry gives him an even bigger push to train harder. The rivalry created by the media have benefited both the players and the fans as they both have become motivated to play better and the fans get their share as they get to witness a great match between these two amazing players. Although the media can create healthy rivalries between players, it can also create harmful ones. What may start as a simple friendly rivalry, can become a serious and problematic issue in sports. Sometimes a rivalry can become intensely heated and it may become violent. In the sport
  • 46. Analysis Of The Movie I re Your Problem Annie You re your problem Annie, and you re also your solution, is something surprisingly deep from the R rated Comedy Bridesmaids (1:37:13). This movie is about a girl, Annie, who along with falling on hard times has to plan her best friend, Lillian s wedding while dealing with a crazy group of bridesmaids: Helen, the rich perfectionist, Rita, the mother who hates her three boys, Becca, the newly wed, and Megan, the overtalkative nutcase. Bridesmaids has a lot of truths about money, success, and overall happiness. The main themes of the movie are that money will not always make someone happy and that money does not make anyone better than anyone else. With those themes there are also a lot of comparisons that could be made with the movie including how Helen, the very rich, and Annie, the very poor, constantly struggle to prove who would be a better maid of honor, and how Annie could be an embodiment of the struggles millennials faced during and after the stock market collapse. Two characters that really show that money does not buy happiness: Megan and Rhodes, a cop who becomes Annie s love interest. Megan is a very interesting character in this movie because while she is very odd she really has her life put together. She was able to overcome the obstacles that she talked about with Annie and how she loves what she does (1:35:54 1:36:24). While Megan does make a lot of money, she would most certainly be happy without and be able to have a fulfilled life as long as she did what

  • 48. Women Of The New Zealand Essay Women make up 51% of the New Zealand population, however, women in New Zealand parliament only make up just over 30% in parliament (2014). For women to be represented in parliament, it means that women need to be seen as a norm in government, and therefore all positions of power. This under representation can be linked to factors such as the environment and the culture of the New Zealand parliament and political parties. It is important to note that women are not a homogenous group; and we have to include ethnicity and class, which links into opportunity. This gender gap in parliament has caused societal issues to be silenced and minority groups to be left out of decision making and therefore society. New Zealand was the first country to give women the right to vote in 1893, however, since then we have dropped to 27th when it comes to gender representation in government, out of 188 countries. One of the many reasons as to why women are under represented in parliament can be linked to the issue of the political obstacles that face women. This is when they want to be in parliament, women whom are in parliament, and the many women who this is not an option for due to lack of opportunity. Women have to face this masculine model of politics and government. Men are dominant in parliament, meaning that political life revolves around male norms and values (Shvedova). This can be extended, politics is very much about competition and confrontation. Rather than politics being

The people of Germany ignored the circumstances of the Jewish, Polish, mentally or physically disabled, Gypsy, and certain Christian peoples because Hitler pulled the nation out of an economic crisis and created stability for the people. This can also be observed throughout the Hunger Games, as the people of the Capitol, the receivers of the propaganda, are in a stable position with extreme economic advantages. This also plays a key role in the results of propaganda and the passage towards genocide, as the economic benefit of the people in the Capitol creates the illusion of a developing utopian

The major theme of this poem is the celebration of human love and as the representative of critics it is an imaginative projection of young love (Stillinger, 1999, p. 38). There is no other way of reading the poem than of an intense, happy, achieved lovethat makes it the contrast of Isabella. It is a romantic love which has the heavenly experience and through Keats magic Madeline and Porphyro fell they are in heaven. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agnes is one of Keats s best loved works or it is a celebration of romantic love. Here Keats represents himself somewhere in the form of the narrator and somewhere in the character of Porphyro. The main characters Madeline and Porphyro who achieve their secret love and boldly escape from the decaying castle are associated with Keats and Fanny Brawne. Keats shows the superstition connection with St. Agnes Eve invites the emotional warmth of his happy lover Fanny Brawne. The character of Porphyro is compared with Keats feelings and also his expression of ambivalence toward women. No other poet of the Romantic period seems to have been influenced so deeply by a woman than Keats. It is his love for Fanny Brawne that inspires him to write much of his poetry after December of 1818. John Middleton Murry writes in the same year, If the crude equation be taken with enough imaginative margins, we may say that Madeline is Fanny and Keats Porphyro and The Eve of St. Agnes was the first poem in which Keats was inspired by his love for Fanny Brawne . Similarly, Murry also says that not only in The Eve of St. Agnes but also in Lamia Keats is Lycius, Fanny Brawne is the Lamia, and Apollonius is Charles Brown the realist, trying to break Fanny s spell over Keats by insisting upon her as the female animal. The identification seems transparent (Stillinger, 1999, p.
