Dissonance In Music
When listening to music, some people experience a strong emotional reaction towards it with
something that can be described as a tingling sensation running through the body (a.k.a.: chills ).
These chills are very distinct and clear, so they can be used in a scientific study involving music. In
previous studies, researchers have found that there is activity in certain regions of the brain which
relate to feelings caused by music that sounds jarring, or clashing tones of music. In the past, these
regions of the brain have been found to relate to emotion. However, the regions of the brain related to
musical dissonance were different when compared to the neocortical parts of the brain (which are
known to be associated with how people recognize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each PET scan was one minute long. During each scan, participants did nothing but listen to one out
of four different stimuli (their selected music, the control, random noise, and silence). The stimulus
began to play approximately fifteen seconds before the scan commenced so that the participant s
response to the music would be stable. Each of the four stimuli was repeated three times for each
subject in a random order. During each PET scan, an F1000 polygraph instrumentation System was
used to measure heart rate (HR), electromyogram (EMG), respiration depth (REP), electrodermal
response, and skin temperature. After the conclusion of each PET scan, subjects were asked to rate
their emotional reaction using an analog rating scale. Three different ratings were used: intensity of
chills (0 to 10), emotional intensity (0 to 10), and unpleasant or pleasant ( 5 to

Cognitive Development And Language Development
Theo s emotional development did compare with his normative development because he demonstrated
a pro social behavior. Since Raymond and Kenta were friends and were playing together, Theo was
cooperating with them and sharing ideas to come up with a game. This means that Theo could be pro
social for many reasons it is targeted at him for self interest such as to make himself look good in front
of the other two boys and to become friends with them (Steinberg, Bornstein, Vandell, Rook, 2011).
Cognitive Development and Language Development Raymond is a male and his date of birth is
3/14/2011, he is four years and six months according to the paper I saw posted in the observing room.
Raymond along with other kids are running around and playing in areas that they shouldn t be in.
Raymond along with the other children get into trouble with one of the teachers and she tells them that
they have to find a new area to play in, the teacher then talks to Raymond and he says I m sick, by
using these two words he is trying to escape from getting into more trouble. He demonstrated
cognitive ability by being curious and roaming around the classroom with his friend Kenta, also a
male and his date of birth is 4/2/2011. They couldn t stay in one area so they would move from the arts
and crafts group to the reading group until they found something of their interest. Eric who is also a
male and his date of birth is 3/12/2011 showed cognitive ability skills by building a fort. He knew

Netflix s Strengths And Weaknesses
1 Overview of Netflix Netflix is an American entertainment company specializing in streaming and
video on demand services. The company has three main departments: domestic streaming,
international streaming, and domestic DVD. Currently, Netflix streams to over 190 countries, with a
combined worldwide viewership of 93 million. 1.1 History Netflix was founded in Scotts Valley,
California by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings on August 29, 1997 (Keating, 2012). The initial
focus of the business was DVD rental by mail, which was a new technology at the time. The business
was launched on April 14, 1998, with 30 employees and a catalogue of 925 DVDs. In 2007, Netflix
began their international expansion with the introduction of streaming services in Canada. In 2014,
Netflix expanded into 41 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4.1 Massive Scale Netflix s size confers significant economies of scale, since marginal costs of
allocating content to an additional user is minimal. Profit margins improve as subscriber counts
increase, allowing Netflix to purchase more content and increase its attractiveness. Termed as a
virtuous cycle by Hastings, it gives Netflix an edge over smaller scale competitors such as Hulu
(Bylund, 2013). Netflix s massive size is valuable, rare, and costly to imitate. The company is also
organized to leverage on its massive scale by fully utilizing all the benefits it confers, such as usership
data and continued global expansion. It is thus a long term competitive advantage. 4.2 Strong
Branding Netflix has become synonymous with Internet video streaming; users often envisage
watching Netflix instead of watching individual shows. In comparison, the closest competitors such as
Hulu and Redbox are not nearly as well known, whilst Amazon Prime Instant Video is often
overlooked due to it being packaged with the Amazon Prime membership (Snider,

What Is The Impact On The Early Development Of Early...
Christianity belief is seen more as a theology while Greek thinking or Hellenism is seen more as a
philosophy. All theologists are philosophers but not all philosophers are theologists. Greek
philosophies had great impact on the early development of Christian thought. Much of the elements in
the early Greek philosopher s theories regarding the soul, creation, and salvation were reflected in the
development of early Christian thought. The Greeks were tenacious in asking why and how questions
concerning those and things around them, and even about themselves. The main purpose behind
theology is to understand and follow God s divine revelation. Philosophy tends to arrive to general
principles through consideration of what is perceived by the sense, which is then rationally evaluated.
Theologists like Augustine and Thomas Aquinas both discovered the use of Aristotle in the formation
of the Christian mind. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, believed that all humans had a purpose and that
the purpose was for the greater good. However, the good life or the blessed life for Aquinas and
Augustine was heaven. For Greek thinkers like Aristotle or even Plato, human actions derived from
reason, rationality, and intellect. Christian thinkers like Augustine saw philosophical reflection as a
complement to theology. Those philosophical reflections were based off of the underlying intellectual
commitment of the Christian Faith. The thoughts of both Augustine and Thomas Aquinas

Essay On Lily Briscoe s To The Lighthouse
Often times, humans are known to reflect on their past actions in search of significant moments
contributing to their life purpose. The novel To the Lighthouse has many hidden meanings within the
characters thoughts and actions relating to the themes of the novel. Lily Briscoe, a young female artist
and guest staying at the Ramsay family summer cottage, reflects on a painting in progress throughout
the novel. Over the course of 10 years, the characters and environment change dramatically, causing
Lily to continually make alterations to her painting until she finds it perfect. Lily s reflections
throughout the novel offer insight on art as a meaning of gender relations, preservation, and a
significant life. At the start of the novel, Lily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This lowers Lily s confidence about her skills as an artist and she begins to view the painting as
infinitely bad (48)! She reflects on the gender norms in the current time period. It is common for
women to be married and raise children, they are meant to comfort and care for others. Mrs. Ramsay
represents this belief. She encourages Mr. Ramsay when he feels down about his works, but also
questions why he needs this constant reassurance. Mrs. Ramsay feels that Lily will not succeed in art
and should focus on marriage, which is why she tries to feel helpful by continuously mentioning the
marriage of Lily and Mr. Bankes.
During the novel, Lily tries to analyze the different aspects of Mrs. Ramsay so she can correctly
portray her in the composition. It is revealed that Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay are in search of something to
make their life significant in the eyes of others. This is one thing Virginia Woolf mentions throughout
the novel to emphasize the desires many people have in the world today. Mr. Ramsay reflects on being
remembered through his philosophical works and research after his life has ended. Mrs. Ramsay finds
significance and importance in making memories with others to build a memorable reputation. Lily
notices this when she realizes Mrs. Ramsay wants Lily to marry Mr. Bankes.

Using Plastic Bag Levies On Plastic Bags Essay
In recent time green taxes have been implemented by many governments throughout the world in an
attempt to change consumers behaviour in order to achieve environmental sustainability s. One of the
most successful implementations of a green tax in recent times would be the levies on plastic bags
throughout European in the last decade. This paper will analyse why certain green taxes such as
plastic bag levies are successful compare to other measures such as fuel duties and to what effect
factors such the price elasticity of demand has on consumer behaviour and thus the effectiveness of
such taxes.
Word count 1890
According to the Green Fiscal Commission, green taxes are levies imposed on certain processes or
goods which produce significant amounts of pollution, in order to change the way, the public
consumes these goods. Ever since the introduction of the first green taxes, such as the fuel duty
escalator in the UK right up until the introduction of plastic bag levy, the success of such taxes in
changing behaviour has been debated. (Green Fiscal Commission, 2009). In essence the success of
such taxes in changing consumer behaviour depends on the price elasticity of the good and the
consumers willingness to pay for a good. For a tax to be successful demand must fall by a lower
proportion than the rise in price, which means the tax induced price will increase tax revenue as well
as lessen the environmental impact of the good. (Green Fiscal Commission, 2009).

Opium War Dbq Essay
The Opium War was a major part of China s history. There were many economic issues, (the high cost
of importing opium), political issues (disobedience of Chinese ban on opium imports) and
consequences of the British victory (Britain s greater power over China) that precipitated the Opium
war, but the British victory had the greatest impact on China because the extension of British power
reduced China s autonomy and made them more dependent on Europe. The high cost of importing
opium had major consequences that weakened the Chinese economy and was a leading cause for the
Opium War. Document A is a record of the British Imports and Exports at the Port of Canton. The
average price of imported opium was ten times greater than that of Cotton Yarn, the second highest
average price import. The combined total value of imported opium alone was over 16 million Spanish

the first Opium War. This document contains various benefits for the British such as the ceding of

This document expresses the actions of the British to extend further control over China by acquiring
from them a major port and a significant sum of money. The Treaty of Nanking is one of many

Dante Inferno
Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet and a moral philosopher born in Florence in 1265. He is most
known for the epic poem The Divine Comedy , which he wrote after he was exiled for twenty years
and so he began to travel and write. This epic poem was written for the purpose of warning Christians
of the society he was in to repent and fear the wrath of hell or experience the rewards of paradise. It
was most likely Dante s own experiences of love, politics and exile that inspired him to write so
deeply. The Divine Comedy is a work of originality. Dante is an important figure for Italian literature
and Western literature in general. The reason for that is his imagery brings the reader into his world
and his senses. Dante provides an in depth analysis of Hell and all its dimensions, more than we would
ever imagine. His imagery does not only enforce the reader to imagine the words but also to take the
journey with him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dante s journey goes from Hell, to purgatory and finally to paradise, leaving the readers with a happy
ending. Dante titled the epic poem The Divine Comedy but there is not a single joke in the book, quite
the opposite. The comedy of his journey is that it ends on a good note instead of a bad. The most
interesting aspect about Dante is, while he is on the journey though the nine circles of hell, he does not
realize that he can still achieve salvation and be forgiven and he has the opportunity to enter paradise.
Dante s imagery pulls the reader into all nine circles of hell. Also, Dante felt pity for most of the
sinners but not all of them. His sympathy declines as the story goes on. He feels the least pity towards
Simonists, those religious leaders that make a profit out of sacred

Terrorism And Its Effects On The United States
Externally, states take into account any and all threats existing in their environment that may bring
about conflict to its right to rule. As states spend resources and time parcipaniting in competing with
its outside rivals in military and economically ways to neutralize the threats to its legitimacy. On the
other hand, how about the internal threats to the state legitimacy. With that being the case, is it
possible for a state to be as successful with neutralizing threats to its legitimacy imposed by its people,
in the same way as its external threats? To answer this question, yes it is possible. Generally using
violence is seen as the primary tool in achieving the goal of overthrowing the state, in the traditional
forms of armed guerillas or violent protesters rioting and looting. In this situation, the response from
the state consist of confronting the protesters with the army and police as a means of overwhelming
the violence with using violence upon the people and crushing the uprising. This practices has been
used for hundreds of years by states to protect their claim of legitimacy and is still today the ideal
thinking for handling protest.
However, now things have changed in the past couple decades. As a trend of revolutions lunched by
massive amounts of unarmed people protesting and taking part in nonviolent civil disobeys against the
state has become very successful. With this in mind, states face a new real challenged to their
legitimacy, as now the ways in which

Marc Antony s Speech
In the playwright Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare, Marc Antony appears to be a strong
advocate for Julius Caesar s triumphs for more power. However, like Caesar, Antony is extremely
manipulative and powerful. After Caesar s death, Antony persuaded the conspirators into trusting that
he understood their intentions on executing Caesar and later asked if he could speak at Caesar s
funeral. While Brutus and the conspirators remained fooled by Antony s innocence, Antony took the
initiative to inform the citizens of Rome on the conspirator s horrendous actions towards Julius
Caesar, their beloved leader. Caesar s funeral was a time of reflection on the citizens of Rome as Marc
Antony questioned their allegiance to Brutus. Marc Antony s power has always been a part ... Show

He captures the emotions of the citizens as he makes his speech by stating his own emotional state
after the death of his trusted friend.
Some may think that Marc Antony changed as the playwright progressed; however, during Caesar s
funeral speech, Antony purposely tries to manipulate the citizens to his own advantage.
In order to manipulate the emotions of the citizens, Antony says:
If you have tears, prepare to shed them now./You all do know this mantle. I remember/the first time
ever Caesar put it on./ For Brutus, as you know, was Caesar s angel./Judge, O you gods, how dearly
Caesar loved him!/This was the most unkindest cut of all (Julius Caesar 3.2.164 178).
Antony used the emotions of the citizens to his advantage as he presented Caesar s dead body to the
crowd. He tells them to prepare to shed their tears because of the unkindness of Brutus blade cutting a
hole through Caesar s soul. The reason why Antony s power intensified is that people were
emotionally invested in his speech. Power didn t change Antony; it only intensified his impulsive,

Similarities Between Dreamland And The Giver
Did you know that characters from different books can have many things in common? Caitlin O
Koren s best friend, Rina Swain, is a go getting, playful, beautiful girl. Asher, Jonas s closest pal, is a
goofy, trouble making boy. Rina Swain from Dreamland and Asher from The Giver have similarities
and differences. Rina Swain and Asher are outgoing, fun loving friends that have much in common.
For example, Cheerleading is a sport, Rina said firmly. And besides, you get to go to all the good
parties (Dessen, 28). Rina always has a spring in her step, and looks for fun and excitement. Like
Rina, Asher s always funny and joyous. In addition, Jonas had casually picked up an apple... and
thrown it to his friend. Asher had thrown it back, and they had begun a simple game of catch (Lowry,

Absolutism Under The Influence Of Samgha
Although it may not seem evident initially, even the Chinese Buddhist Association and therefore the
Chinese sangha ultimately remain under the control of the communist government. These goals
ultimately help the government have a say in Buddhist affairs because the Chinese Buddhist
Association cannot exist without the government in the first place. For example, the Chinese Buddhist
Association and the samgha completed the socialization of monasteries under the name of promoting
Buddhism (Welch 1961, 7). Under the Land Reform Act of 1960, monks and nuns received the same
amount of land as farmers. After land distribution, the number of monks in the monasteries continues
to decrease as many of them return to the laity (Welch 1961, 1). One monastery, for example, which
had 800 monks before land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process, known as political indoctrination, helps the samgha understand that although the
government possesses ultimate authority, their voices can influence interpretation of doctrines,
scriptures, and beliefs (Yu 1971, 54). Even where the samgha receives their education remains
centralized. Most samgha studies through the Chinese Buddhist College that is affiliated with the
Chinese Buddhist Association as well. The samgha are made aware of the relationships in politics and
religion. Since only one college controls the samgha teaching primarily, the process remains very
standardized and differences get eliminated. This helps maintain legitimacy and power because one
organization and its clergy makes the decisions rather than multiple organizations fighting over control
(Yu 1971, 55). Thus, the hierarchy gets further simplified because the Chinese government simply
answers to one organization, the Chinese Buddhist Association, rather than multiple organizations.
Ultimately, this strengthens the government s control over the

How Did China s Growth Have Contributed To The British Museum
According to the British Museum, growth can be attributed to two main factors: the support of the
general population and royal patronage. Introduced by merchants during the 6th century AD
Buddhism had spread throughout Cambodia and to China during 50 AD. Another strong hold that
allowed the religion of Buddhism to blossom was the conversion of Ashoka to Buddhism. By
broadcasting his beliefs on inscribed stones and pillars Ashoka gave Buddhism the royal support it
needed to thrive, he also sent Buddhist missionaries all over Asia making it as far as Syria. Eventually
Buddhist philosophical schools began to rise and teach the religion, such as two prestigious schools in
China, Hua Yen and T ien t ai.

Dulse Research Paper
Move over kale, there s a new superfood in town: bacon flavored seaweed! Scientists at Oregon State
University have developed a new food item that experts are already saying could be the most nutrient
packed food to date.
When Abalone Food Becomes Human Food
According to Chris Langdon, of Oregon State University s Hatfield Marine Science Center, the bacon
flavored seaweed was originally developed to be a superfood to feed abalone. The newly announced
superfood, known as dulse, had been growing in Oregon State University s laboratories for 15 years.
When researchers fed it to abalone, they found that the resulting growth rate of the abalone was much
higher than previously expected. Despite growing interest in developing the lab grown dulse for
human consumption, the researchers had only focused on using it to ... Show more content on

Dulse is a wild seaweed, also referred to as palmaria, which grows along the Pacific and Atlantic
coastlines. It is a lucrative ocean plant, as when it is dried out it is known to have gone for up to $90
per pound. The newly developed strain of dulse created by the scientists at Oregon State University
looks similar to red algae and is translucent. It is said to somewhat resemble translucent red lettuce
and is packed with 16 percent of protein and several antioxidants when it is dried out. This particular
strain apparently takes on a very strong bacon flavor when it is fried.
Bacon Flavored Seaweed Brings Dulse to America
According to Langdon, Europeans have been using dulse in powder or flake form and adding it to
their dishes when they cook, but there hasn t been much interest in the fresh version. Dulse has been a
popular food item in Europe for many years, but across the ocean in the United States, no one has

however, this bacon flavored seaweed might just grow in popularity and overtake kale as the most

What Are The Stereotypes Of Boys And Girls
Ever since birth your parents choice the gender, from pink or blue to the toys you play when you were
younger to even who was acceptable to hang out with. Boys and girls have always had different roles
growing up. Boys are suppose to be the tough and strong person who didn t ever need help with
anything and girls were always the weak ones who always needed someone to help or save them. Its
all how society told us how to grow up, women and men both share something in common and that s
how society says how we should look, women just have it a little harder. Starting at a young age girls
are already being pressured to be perfect , the models ,the magazine covers, all reveal a completely
impossible body image. Not because their parents may have had what some people call good genes...
No, it s the photo shop and all the editing and weight lose that sometimes they have to lose just to get
a certain role. They are not happy with it. They look nothing like they do in photos or movies or
magazines but that s not what society sees and that s why people feel the need to be perfect and no
flaws whatsoever, they feel if they don t look a certain way the guys wont take the time to look their
direction that no one would like them that s where the depression and self harm comes into play and
that s the sad part of it. Middle school is where we see it start more than often, people are just now

death and always believes she has caught something from the deceased people in her home. She
dropped her basketball in the basement with a dead body. She finally got the courage to go get it and
got locked into the basement. This fear sent her into an anxiety attack. She always thought she was
dying. She went to the doctor and would describe problems that the dead people at her house had
experienced before their death this was her hypochondriac behavior setting in. She is at the adolescent
stage of believing that bodily processes stop at death, but psychological ones still exist. She has a
better understanding of death as an adolescent than a child does due to her more developed cognitive
skills, but doesn t have a complete understanding yet. She thinks of her own death a lot, but not much
about her loved ones dying. This is why when her best friend Thomas died it hit her so traumatically.
She was in such shock and confusion. She tried to talk to him while he was in the coffin and tried to
get him up to play. It was a psychological shock. Vada also deals with not only her mother s absence,
but her father s absence and lack of

Resistance Training Program
Discussion #2
The importance of the endocrine system when designing a resistance training program:
The endocrine system releases hormones to help the body regulate and stabilize internally. When
designing a resistance training program, it is important to look at the predicted outcome (for example:
muscle growth) and see what hormones are linked to that predicted outcome. The goal is to get the
best hormonal response from areas that will help guide you to the intended outcome of the program. If
I was designing a program for strength and muscle growth (using the knowledge I have of the
endocrine system), I know that human growth hormone and testosterone are the hormones that will
play a large role there. Since testosterone directly interacts

Bosnia Herzegovin A Rough History
Body: Bosnia Herzegovina has a rough history, especially with its neighboring countries. Tensions in
the Balkans increased after World War II. Bosnia Herzegovina went from a prime example of cultural
unity to the exact opposite due to the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia was created at the end of
World War I, when Bosnian, Croat, and Slovenian territories joined that of the Serbian Empire.
Yugoslavia was split up during World War II, but was once again unified at the end by Josip Broz Tito.
Due to cultural differences, remembrance of WWII events, and the death of Josip Broz Tito,
Yugoslavia, once again, broke up in the early 1990s. My parents were born and raised in different
parts of Yugoslavia, but with the break up of Yugoslavia, and wars that followed between Bosnia and
Serbia, my parents had to escape to Germany (where my brother and I would soon be born). Growing
up I always heard about how great it was to live in a Yugoslavia that was ruled by Josip Broz Tito, it
was a place where people got along with one another. However, that would soon change. In an essay
written by Alan Fraser, he describes the conditions of Yugoslavia during the time of unity. In his
opening sentence he says the first thing I noticed about Yugoslavia was the ease and honesty, the trust
people had for each other, treating one another like family. The quote speaks volumes, especially
coming from a foreigner to the region. Yugoslavia was truly a place where everyone got along with

Essay on The History of the Antiguan Girls High School
The history of the AGHS began in 1886, when an English couple a Mr. and Mrs. Williams, came to
Antigua, because of Mr. William s failing health. Mrs. Williams became the school s first
headmistress. After her husband died, she sent for her sister and together they shared the responsibility
of running the school. At this time the school had boarding facilities for local students, as well as
students from neighbouring Caribbean islands such as St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, Dominica and
Grenada. In 1902 Mrs. Williams and Ms. Easie resigned and were succeeded by Ms. Simpson, who
served for two years. From 1905 to 1944 Misses Millicent and May Branch served as joint
headmistresses. Because of steadily increasing numbers, the school ... Show more content on

It was during this time that the Primary School section was phased out. In 1976 the school again
became an all girl institution. From 1973 1978, there was some instability in staffing, especially with
headmistresses. The school had a parade of them. During this five year period it had no less than eight
headmistresses and interestingly one headmaster all be it briefly. Actually from 1886 to present this
school has had 16 headmistresses, 5 acting headmistresses and one acting headmaster. Over the years,
students of the A.G.H.S have excelled academically in external exams. With CXC they have obtained
many top awards. Some have been Island Scholars. We even had a Rhodes Scholar by way of Karen
Mae Hill and last year for the first time, the Karen Mae Hill Award was bestowed upon two deserving
young ladies, Sherriann Rodney and Nicole Roberts. In 2003 we proudly added Ebonee Williams
King to our list of students who have done A.G.H.S proud. She was Antigua s most outstanding CXC
student. In 2004 we added Nicole Roberts. She too was Antigua s most outstanding student. In 2005
our own Marissa Crump was Antigua s most outstanding female CXC student. In the area of creative
writing AGHS continues to excel and in August 2004, Aleka Hewlett was the proud recipient of the
Antigua prize for the 2004 Commonwealth Essay Competition. AGHS also placed first in the World
Environment Day short story competition. In Art, Jamie Gardner, a promising Art student, was

Open Bite Malocclusion
Open bite malocclusion is either inherited or due to habits, that may persist for a long period. Treating
an open bite malocclusion is challenging, as it requires a high patient compliance and good
orthodontist knowledge and experience, which could be decisive in choosing a suitable treatment plan.
After treating open bite patients, for example, using a palatal crib and a chin cup, only a significant
extrusion of the incisors, as well as an increase in the overbite and the exposure of the maxillary
incisors will be gained, and no significant changes in the level of eruption of the molars, with no real
or relative intrusion of these teeth, skeletal changes, or a significant growth inhibition of the lower

David Hesmondhalgh
David Hesmondhalgh claims that, as the media came to dominate symbol making in the twentieth
century, more and more people have aspired to work in the supposed glamour of the cultural industries
(2013, 83). While creative work and symbolic creation may be glamorous for some, Hesmondhalgh
reminds us that a greater percentage of individuals wanting to work professionally in the cultural
industries have failed in comparison to those who have succeeded (2013, 83). That being said, prior to
embarking on a career in the lucrative cultural industries, it is important to research the conditions
shaping work in the complex professional era. This essay will analyze the positive and negative
aspects of working as a digital journalist to demonstrate how workplace flexibility, stress, precarious
labor, limited creativity autonomy, and future job insecurity are defining factors of work for
journalists. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of primary importance to me is that a job s outputs are directly involved with influencing social
change. Moreover, as someone who is critical of the meaning and importance of capitalist work, I
believe that for a job to be considered good , its goal must not be monetary, but rather philanthropic.
Additionally, I require a job where my personality and creativity can flourish. Having the ability to
produce unique work and not be constrained by rigid guidelines is very important to me. In regards to
salary, I value a stable pay and thus an income that is not in flux or contingent on the work I produce,
current economy, or company s success. I also believe that good work is employment with an
adequate work life balance whereby when you leave the office, there is no pressure to continue
working. As such, a philanthropic job that allows for creativity, minimum stress, and stability are

Two And A Half Men Deviant Analysis
I personally have never seen the show Two and a Half Men , but based on what you wrote I could see
where people in society could view this as deviant. For example, someone living in the neighborhood
and just seeing them on a daily basis could possibly form their opinion that the men are homosexual
and trying to raise a child. I could also see the other perceptive where one is a womanizer and
alcoholic while the other one is socially awkward.
Society could instantly form the opinion that they
don t need to be raising a child because of their lifestyle and behaviors. I do agree that some things are
observed in larger cities that are more acceptable than smaller cities. I feel this is accepted because of
the diversity of the people living within that city. Whereas, in your city or town it is mostly people that
have grown up in that area and the norms are already set and lived by. ... Show more content on

3-Acetamidopropane-1 Alcohol Analysis
It is well known that excessive alcohol can produce various side effects to human. However, giving up
drinking is difficult and can bring several symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. To treat this problem,
acamprosate, 3 Acetamidopropane 1 sulfonic acid, is used as a medication with a common brand
name, Campral. Acamprosate is a small molecule that has a molecular weight about 181.21 g/mol. Its
molecular formula is C5H11NO4S and is named as 3 Acetamidopropane 1 sulfonic acid or N acetyl
homotaurine. The main function of acamprosate is re balancing the chemicals in the brain. Before
alcohol consumption, human brain retains a balance of chemicals called neurotransmitters. When the
intake of alcohol is repeated, the brain alters the balance and turns to adapt to that chemical changes,
and finally, this will be lead to tolerance and addiction of alcohol. By modulating and normalizing the

During the synthesis, the first two steps are using SOCl2 (Thionyl chloride) and Na2SO3 (Sodium
sulfite). Thionyl chloride is a reagent of the reaction of alcohols that replaces the alcohol with
chlorine. Then, the chlorine becomes a leaving group, and the sodium sulfite reacts as a substitution.
When the 3 aminopropane 1 sulfonic acid is made, this is treated with calcium hydroxide and acetic
acid. Calcium hydroxide, which is a strong base, deprotonates the molecule and makes the product,
acamprosate calcium. This synthesized acamprosate has two functional groups, sulfonic acid, and
amide. Interestingly, acamprosate molecule does not have any chirality or E/Z stereochemistry. There
is no carbon that has four different substituents or no nitrogen with three different substituents and a
positive charge. In addition, there is no carbon carbon double bond existing in this

The Basic Concepts Of Ilp
Introduction Instruction level parallelism(or we call it ILP) is a form of parallel operation or
calculation which allows program to perform multiple instructions at one time. Thus it is also a
measurement to describe the amount of instruction per unit time.We will explore the LIP from an
overall view to the several specific methods to exploit it. ILP is a measure of how many of the
instructions in a computer program can be executed simultaneously. When exploiting instruction level
parallelism, goal is to maximize CPI. As for how much ILP exists in programs is very application
specific. In certain fields, like graphics and scientific computing the amount can be very large while
workloads such as cryptography may exhibit much less parallelism. Micro architectural techniques
that are used to exploit ILP include instruction pipelining, superscalar execution, register renaming,
and so on. This paper will first access the basic concepts of ILP by exploring the ways of handling
data, including the controlling data dependence and data hazards. Then we will talk about ways of how
to expose ILP using pipelining and loop scheduling in compiler(the ways to speed up instruction
operation). Additionally, we will discuss the details of dealing with data hazards by dynamic
scheduling (allow execution before control dependence is solved) by using the examples of Tomasulo
s algorithm and explain the different types of branch prediction(choose which instruction to be
executed). Next we will

used to encrypt emails or important messages. Paper mail has slowly decreased because of everyone
using the internet to do everything and making it easier for someone to intercept an important message
. However, when sending the information or message thru paper mail it is more difficult for someone
to intercept the message, but if using the internet if you don t send it encrypted it can be easy for the
message to be read by someone else.

The two scenes were beautiful in a natural, traditional and exotic way, which was different from
Yokohama s beauty of modernity in picture 2 and 4. Yokohama was one of the seven treaty ports
opened by the Kanagawa Treaty in 1854 and Harris Treaty in 1858. Under the intimidation of America
s steam and coal warships, Japan had no choice but ended its close country policy and gave the U.S.,
later also Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, and France, the access to the seven treaty ports. After a
decade, when the globetrotter tourists visited Japan and pressed the camera shutter, we can see how
those treaty ports, especially Yokohama, were influenced by the West. Picture 2 depicted a main street
of Yokohama. On the left side of the street was a printing office while on the right side of the street,
there was a Cigar store. Cigar was clearly not a native product of Japan, but something introduced
from the West. Another noteworthy detail was that the shop signs of the two stores were both written
in English instead of Japanese. Picture 4 was a portrait of a railway station. Train was a symbol of
technology development and signified Japan was stepping outside of the Biological Old Regime and
start to use steam and fuel as the source of energy. In addition, in the middle of the picture stood a

The Horrors of the Jewish Holocaust
What if there was a choice on whether to be Jewish or Non Jewish, to either be Jewish and fight back
or to go with the flow, and to be Non Jewish and fight back or go with the flow? Being non jewish and
going with the flow would be the smart choice, if survival is the goal. In that time period being Jewish
was awful. Being Jewish basically meant you were an outcast. During the Holocaust it would have
been better to not be Jewish and to stay out of the way, or go with the flow.
Even though being Non Jewish and not fighting back is the easiest way to go, being Non Jewish and
fighting back is the most sincere thing to do. Fighting back is a great thing to do too. If the Non Jewish
people are fighting back they could be saving peoples lives which is great; however, taking the risk of
fighting back can affect more than just one person. Sure if the Non Jewish people are fighting back
they could be helping the Jewish people which is a great thing. If your Non Jewish and fighting back
then they could also be considered heroes in the long run, and maybe could convince the Nazis to stop
harming the Jewish people. There is always a possibility that if the Jewish people would have fought
back that maybe the black and white issue would not have happened. Yes, fighting back is the most
sincere thing to do, but if survival is the key then fighting back shouldn t be done.
Staying out of the way and not making more problems is honestly the smart thing to do. Simply going

Matthew Miller Analysis
The human body and its relationship with technology in the digital age that we live in, plays as the
main inspirations for British designer Matthew Miller. His work reflects a belief that fashion is
essentially a product, just like anything else, that reflect simple manufacturing values. A graduate of
the Royal College of Art, Miller combines aspects of tailoring and casual wear to create delicate
fusions that utilise contemporary fabrication processes. His modern interpretation of classic tailoring
combined with a desire to use particular materials offer a glimpse into his creative mind. Miller s

simple fact of the matter is we live in a very cut throat world and if you come up with a beautiful idea
and fail to subsequently commodify that idea, be assured there is a very long line of sharks/brands

Global Automobile Industry in 2009
A thorough analysis of the external forces that shaped the global automotive industry in 2009 reveals
how the rivalry between established car makers set the stage for some to successfully survive the
global recession while others were forced to seek Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A closer consideration of the
impact of consolidation, demand and supply, fixed costs, product differentiation, and exit barriers on
rivalry within the industry reveals how new entrants and weaker competitors were able to take
advantage of environmental opportunities during the recession and gain profit shares. These
considerations illustrate the critical importance of analyzing the forces that shape competition in an
industry and how such an analysis serves as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consolidation As it relates to the competitive structure, or the number and size distribution of
companies within an industry, the automobile industry is considered a consolidated industry, where a
small number of large companies dominate and are able to set prices. Traditionally, in America, these
companies were called The Big Three, Chrysler, Ford, and GM, but Toyota, was also a major rival
during the recession. In consolidated industries, companies are interdependent, because one company
s competitive actions or moves (with regard to price, quality, and so on) directly affect the market
share of its rivals, and thus their profitability (Hill Jones, 2012, p. 62). The relative power of
consolidation on the automobile industry was high.
Demand and Supply A second point of consideration relating to the intensity of rivalry within the
industry was the level of industry demand. Demand declines when customers are leaving the
marketplace or each customer is buying less (Hill Jones, 2012, p. 62). This was the case in 2009 in
many developed nations due to the recession, which was marked by job loss, credit problems, and
high gas prices that increased the demand for fuel efficient vehicles or left consumers unable to
purchase vehicles altogether. At the same time, growth was expanding in China and some other
developing nations, which opened the doors for automobile companies in these countries to expand at

Compare And Contrast The Temple Of Aphaia

unnatural way. The warrior is smiling and is in a modeling posture rather than a realistic one.
However, the warrior on the east pediment seems more realistic as it s seen in the appropriate position
for someone who is near death. The reason for this is because it has been said that the pediment from
the west was created 10 years earlier than the one from the east, which is why the one built first is

Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare
Throughout Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra, readers are constantly thrown in the middle of a
battle between Roman and Egyptian values. Antony, a noble warrior for the Romans, is the character
that seems to have the most trouble between this dichotomy. He is constantly caught between reason
(Rome) and passion (Egypt) and has a difficult time making the transitions. Cleopatra is the character
that stays most true to her roots, but begins adopting the other side s values toward the end of the
story. She makes a smoother transition than Antony, which can be attributed to her self confidence and
open minded spirit. Antony is a constant source of back and forth commotion while Cleopatra seems
to posses Egyptian qualities until the end of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although much rage from Antony caused him to threaten to kill her, Cleopatra had seduced Antony
through her sexualized actions and personality so much in their time together that Antony quickly
forgave Cleopatra when he received news she was dead. In a contrasting view, Cleopatra s decision to
betray Antony twice in battle can also be seen as a Roman action that signifies strong dominance and
influence. Although it was a decision that hurt the Romans, she took on the masculine role of the
Romans and led them to their loss. When Cleopatra decided to betray Antony, not once but twice, she
made a decision that took initiative, leadership, and masculinity that are all characteristics of the
Romans. Another way in which Cleopatra expresses this inner dominance is through her power over
Antony throughout the entire book. While maybe not seen as a Roman quality at the beginning
because Egyptians tend to portray femininity, Cleopatra s actions towards Antony go far beyond
femininity and into supremacy. Whether it was through her charm and sexual manipulation to control
Antony in his decisions, her persuasive powers to regain his trust and forgiveness after her betrayals,
or her structured view on how Antony should treat her, Cleopatra undoubtedly dominated the
relationship. As the story ends, Cleopatra possesses reason, a Roman quality, in her decision to kill
herself. While many may argue this was an Egyptian action, it

  • 2. Dissonance In Music When listening to music, some people experience a strong emotional reaction towards it with something that can be described as a tingling sensation running through the body (a.k.a.: chills ). These chills are very distinct and clear, so they can be used in a scientific study involving music. In previous studies, researchers have found that there is activity in certain regions of the brain which relate to feelings caused by music that sounds jarring, or clashing tones of music. In the past, these regions of the brain have been found to relate to emotion. However, the regions of the brain related to musical dissonance were different when compared to the neocortical parts of the brain (which are known to be associated with how people recognize ... Each of the four stimuli was repeated three times for each subject in a random order. During each PET scan, an F1000 polygraph instrumentation System was used to measure heart rate (HR), electromyogram (EMG), respiration depth (REP), electrodermal response, and skin temperature. After the conclusion of each PET scan, subjects were asked to rate their emotional reaction using an analog rating scale. Since Raymond and Kenta were friends and were playing together, Theo was cooperating with them and sharing ideas to come up with a game. This means that Theo could be pro social for many reasons it is targeted at him for self interest such as to make himself look good in front of the other two boys and to become friends with them (Steinberg, Bornstein, Vandell, Rook, 2011). Cognitive Development and Language Development Raymond is a male and his date of birth is 3/14/2011, he is four years and six months according to the paper I saw posted in the observing room. Raymond along with other kids are running around and playing in areas that they shouldn t be in. Raymond along with the other children get into trouble with one of the teachers and she tells them that they have to find a new area to play in, the teacher then talks to Raymond and he says I m sick, by using these two words he is trying to escape from getting into more trouble. He demonstrated cognitive ability by being curious and roaming around the classroom with his friend Kenta, also a male and his date of birth is 4/2/2011. They couldn t stay in one area so they would move from the arts and crafts group to the reading group until they found something of their interest. • 4. Netflix s Strengths And Weaknesses 1 Overview of Netflix Netflix is an American entertainment company specializing in streaming and video on demand services. The company has three main departments: domestic streaming, international streaming, and domestic DVD. Currently, Netflix streams to over 190 countries, with a combined worldwide viewership of 93 million. 1.1 History Netflix was founded in Scotts Valley, California by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings on August 29, 1997 (Keating, 2012). The initial focus of the business was DVD rental by mail, which was a new technology at the time. The business was launched on April 14, 1998, with 30 employees and a catalogue of 925 DVDs. In 2007, Netflix began their international expansion with the introduction of streaming services in Canada. In 2014, Netflix expanded into 41 ... Profit margins improve as subscriber counts increase, allowing Netflix to purchase more content and increase its attractiveness. The company is also organized to leverage on its massive scale by fully utilizing all the benefits it confers, such as usership data and continued global expansion. It is thus a long term competitive advantage. 4.2 Strong Branding Netflix has become synonymous with Internet video streaming; users often envisage watching Netflix instead of watching individual shows. In comparison, the closest competitors such as Hulu and Redbox are not nearly as well known, whilst Amazon Prime Instant Video is often overlooked due to it being packaged with the Amazon Prime membership (Snider, ... • 7. What Is The Impact On The Early Development Of Early... Christianity belief is seen more as a theology while Greek thinking or Hellenism is seen more as a philosophy. All theologists are philosophers but not all philosophers are theologists. Greek philosophies had great impact on the early development of Christian thought. Much of the elements in the early Greek philosopher s theories regarding the soul, creation, and salvation were reflected in the development of early Christian thought. The Greeks were tenacious in asking why and how questions concerning those and things around them, and even about themselves. The main purpose behind theology is to understand and follow God s divine revelation. Philosophy tends to arrive to general principles through consideration of what is perceived by the sense, which is then rationally evaluated. Theologists like Augustine and Thomas Aquinas both discovered the use of Aristotle in the formation of the Christian mind. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, believed that all humans had a purpose and that the purpose was for the greater good. However, the good life or the blessed life for Aquinas and Augustine was heaven. For Greek thinkers like Aristotle or even Plato, human actions derived from reason, rationality, and intellect. Christian thinkers like Augustine saw philosophical reflection as a complement to theology. Those philosophical reflections were based off of the underlying intellectual commitment of the Christian Faith. The thoughts of both Augustine and Thomas Aquinas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mrs. Ramsay represents this belief. She encourages Mr. Ramsay when he feels down about his works, but also questions why he needs this constant reassurance. Mrs. Ramsay feels that Lily will not succeed in art and should focus on marriage, which is why she tries to feel helpful by continuously mentioning the marriage of Lily and Mr. Bankes. During the novel, Lily tries to analyze the different aspects of Mrs. Ramsay so she can correctly portray her in the composition. It is revealed that Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay are in search of something to make their life significant in the eyes of others. This is one thing Virginia Woolf mentions throughout the novel to emphasize the desires many people have in the world today. • 9. Using Plastic Bag Levies On Plastic Bags Essay In recent time green taxes have been implemented by many governments throughout the world in an attempt to change consumers behaviour in order to achieve environmental sustainability s. One of the most successful implementations of a green tax in recent times would be the levies on plastic bags throughout European in the last decade. This paper will analyse why certain green taxes such as plastic bag levies are successful compare to other measures such as fuel duties and to what effect factors such the price elasticity of demand has on consumer behaviour and thus the effectiveness of such taxes. Word count 1890 According to the Green Fiscal Commission, green taxes are levies imposed on certain processes or goods which produce significant amounts of pollution, in order to change the way, the public consumes these goods. Ever since the introduction of the first green taxes, such as the fuel duty escalator in the UK right up until the introduction of plastic bag levy, the success of such taxes in changing behaviour has been debated. (Green Fiscal Commission, 2009). In essence the success of such taxes in changing consumer behaviour depends on the price elasticity of the good and the consumers willingness to pay for a good. For a tax to be successful demand must fall by a lower proportion than the rise in price, which means the tax induced price will increase tax revenue as well as lessen the environmental impact of the good. There were many economic issues, (the high cost of importing opium), political issues (disobedience of Chinese ban on opium imports) and consequences of the British victory (Britain s greater power over China) that precipitated the Opium war, but the British victory had the greatest impact on China because the extension of British power reduced China s autonomy and made them more dependent on Europe. The high cost of importing opium had major consequences that weakened the Chinese economy and was a leading cause for the Opium War. Document A is a record of the British Imports and Exports at the Port of Canton. • 11. Dante Inferno Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet and a moral philosopher born in Florence in 1265. He is most known for the epic poem The Divine Comedy , which he wrote after he was exiled for twenty years and so he began to travel and write. This epic poem was written for the purpose of warning Christians of the society he was in to repent and fear the wrath of hell or experience the rewards of paradise. It was most likely Dante s own experiences of love, politics and exile that inspired him to write so deeply. The Divine Comedy is a work of originality. Dante is an important figure for Italian literature and Western literature in general. The reason for that is his imagery brings the reader into his world and his senses. Dante provides an in depth analysis of Hell and all its dimensions, more than we would ever imagine. His imagery does not only enforce the reader to imagine the words but also to take the journey with him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dante titled the epic poem The Divine Comedy but there is not a single joke in the book, quite the opposite. The comedy of his journey is that it ends on a good note instead of a bad. The most interesting aspect about Dante is, while he is on the journey though the nine circles of hell, he does not realize that he can still achieve salvation and be forgiven and he has the opportunity to enter paradise. Dante s imagery pulls the reader into all nine circles of hell. Also, Dante felt pity for most of the sinners but not all of them. His sympathy declines as the story goes on. As states spend resources and time parcipaniting in competing with its outside rivals in military and economically ways to neutralize the threats to its legitimacy. On the other hand, how about the internal threats to the state legitimacy. With that being the case, is it possible for a state to be as successful with neutralizing threats to its legitimacy imposed by its people, in the same way as its external threats? To answer this question, yes it is possible. Generally using violence is seen as the primary tool in achieving the goal of overthrowing the state, in the traditional forms of armed guerillas or violent protesters rioting and looting. In this situation, the response from the state consist of confronting the protesters with the army and police as a means of overwhelming the violence with using violence upon the people and crushing the uprising. This practices has been used for hundreds of years by states to protect their claim of legitimacy and is still today the ideal thinking for handling protest. However, now things have changed in the past couple decades. However, like Caesar, Antony is extremely manipulative and powerful. While Brutus and the conspirators remained fooled by Antony s innocence, Antony took the initiative to inform the citizens of Rome on the conspirator s horrendous actions towards Julius Caesar, their beloved leader. Antony used the emotions of the citizens to his advantage as he presented Caesar s dead body to the crowd. Absolutism Under The Influence Of Samgha Although it may not seem evident initially, even the Chinese Buddhist Association and therefore the Chinese sangha ultimately remain under the control of the communist government. These goals ultimately help the government have a say in Buddhist affairs because the Chinese Buddhist Association cannot exist without the government in the first place. For example, the Chinese Buddhist Association and the samgha completed the socialization of monasteries under the name of promoting Buddhism (Welch 1961, 7). Under the Land Reform Act of 1960, monks and nuns received the same amount of land as farmers. After land distribution, the number of monks in the monasteries continues to decrease as many of them return to the laity (Welch 1961, 1). The samgha are made aware of the relationships in politics and religion. Since only one college controls the samgha teaching primarily, the process remains very standardized and differences get eliminated. This helps maintain legitimacy and power because one organization and its clergy makes the decisions rather than multiple organizations fighting over control (Yu 1971, 55). Thus, the hierarchy gets further simplified because the Chinese government simply answers to one organization, the Chinese Buddhist Association, rather than multiple organizations. Another strong hold that allowed the religion of Buddhism to blossom was the conversion of Ashoka to Buddhism. By broadcasting his beliefs on inscribed stones and pillars Ashoka gave Buddhism the royal support it needed to thrive, he also sent Buddhist missionaries all over Asia making it as far as Syria. It is a lucrative ocean plant, as when it is dried out it is known to have gone for up to $90 per pound. The newly developed strain of dulse created by the scientists at Oregon State University looks similar to red algae and is translucent. It is said to somewhat resemble translucent red lettuce and is packed with 16 percent of protein and several antioxidants when it is dried out. This particular strain apparently takes on a very strong bacon flavor when it is fried. Bacon Flavored Seaweed Brings Dulse to America According to Langdon, Europeans have been using dulse in powder or flake form and adding it to their dishes when they cook, but there hasn t been much interest in the fresh version. Dulse has been a popular food item in Europe for many years, but across the ocean in the United States, no one has really heard of it. Acamprosate is a small molecule that has a molecular weight about 181.21 g/mol. Its molecular formula is C5H11NO4S and is named as 3 Acetamidopropane 1 sulfonic acid or N acetyl homotaurine. The main function of acamprosate is re balancing the chemicals in the brain. Before alcohol consumption, human brain retains a balance of chemicals called neurotransmitters. • 30. The Basic Concepts Of Ilp Introduction Instruction level parallelism(or we call it ILP) is a form of parallel operation or calculation which allows program to perform multiple instructions at one time. Thus it is also a measurement to describe the amount of instruction per unit time.We will explore the LIP from an overall view to the several specific methods to exploit it. ILP is a measure of how many of the instructions in a computer program can be executed simultaneously. When exploiting instruction level parallelism, goal is to maximize CPI. As for how much ILP exists in programs is very application specific. In certain fields, like graphics and scientific computing the amount can be very large while workloads such as cryptography may exhibit much less parallelism. Micro architectural techniques that are used to exploit ILP include instruction pipelining, superscalar execution, register renaming, and so on. This paper will first access the basic concepts of ILP by exploring the ways of handling data, including the controlling data dependence and data hazards. Then we will talk about ways of how to expose ILP using pipelining and loop scheduling in compiler(the ways to speed up instruction operation). Additionally, we will discuss the details of dealing with data hazards by dynamic scheduling (allow execution before control dependence is solved) by using the examples of Tomasulo s algorithm and explain the different types of branch prediction(choose which instruction to be executed). Consolidation As it relates to the competitive structure, or the number and size distribution of companies within an industry, the automobile industry is considered a consolidated industry, where a small number of large companies dominate and are able to set prices. Traditionally, in America, these companies were called The Big Three, Chrysler, Ford, and GM, but Toyota, was also a major rival during the recession. In consolidated industries, companies are interdependent, because one company s competitive actions or moves (with regard to price, quality, and so on) directly affect the market share of its rivals, and thus their profitability (Hill Jones, 2012, p. 62). The relative power of consolidation on the automobile industry was high. Cleopatra is the character that stays most true to her roots, but begins adopting the other side s values toward the end of the story. Although much rage from Antony caused him to threaten to kill her, Cleopatra had seduced Antony through her sexualized actions and personality so much in their time together that Antony quickly forgave Cleopatra when he received news she was dead. In a contrasting view, Cleopatra s decision to betray Antony twice in battle can also be seen as a Roman action that signifies strong dominance and influence. Although it was a decision that hurt the Romans, she took on the masculine role of the Romans and led them to their loss. When Cleopatra decided to betray Antony, not once but twice, she made a decision that took initiative, leadership, and masculinity that are all characteristics of the Romans. Another way in which Cleopatra expresses this inner dominance is through her power over Antony throughout the entire book. While maybe not seen as a Roman quality at the beginning because Egyptians tend to portray femininity, Cleopatra s actions towards Antony go far beyond femininity and into supremacy. Whether it was through her charm and sexual manipulation to control Antony in his decisions, her persuasive powers to regain his trust and forgiveness after her betrayals, or her structured view on how Antony should treat her, Cleopatra undoubtedly dominated the relationship.
