Examples Of Faith In Good Country People
Faith is what someone knows to be true, whether they believe it or not. Whether provoked by
doctor s grim diagnosis or inspired by something else, these words of Flannery O Connor are a
good example of how one should always follow this rule in order to meet their expectations of
life. However, it is in our human nature to think, dream, and imagine things that are far from our
knowledge. O Connor s Good Country People tells the story of Hulga, a girl with an artificial leg
who loses it after blindly believing the lies of astute Manley Pointer, a Bible salesman. Using the
example of Hulga, Good Country People proves how unrealistic expectations can lead to
unhappiness and dissatisfaction. This happens because faith does not play a role... Show more

They symbolize their personalities and ways of acting. Good Country People begins with Mrs.
Freeman free man . She is indeed free she has got the freedom to aware herself of everything
around her and to spread information about it. She benefits also from her freedom of speech and
personal opinion by always sharing her thoughts on various topics. What is more, Mrs. Freeman
thinks she is never wrong about anything she says. This is possible through the universal
formula that she invents: Well, I wouldn t of said it was and wouldn t of said it wasn t (445).
Having different facial expressions and fast eyes, and being aim driven as a heavy truck , she
does not let anything happen without her knowledge. Mrs. Hopewell, the big boss from the
high level, finds a way to benefit from these characteristics of her servant. Despite being irritated,
Mrs. Hopewell carefully listens to the heavy truck using her for as a free information source.
She hopes well that the world goes around her and is firmly convinced that it is so simple that
she can easily have everything she wants. This explains her pleasure when Mrs. Freeman agrees
with everything she says. However, she is unable to realize how ironical everything is and that
her moral blindness is much deeper than her visionary wisdom . By underestimating her servant
she cannot understand Mrs. Freeman s hypocrisy which can be concluded in her naming Hulga
Joy in front of the boss and with her real name all the other time. This way Mrs. Hopewell
becomes easily vulnerable, which raises the question of who of the two women is

Moll Flanders Analysis
In Daniel Defoe s Moll Flanders we follow a woman named Moll throughout her life. She
encounters several serious situations, gets married five times, and has many children that she
leaves in the care of their fathers or paternal grandparents. As a society, the first emotion that
comes to our minds when we recognize these behaviors in a woman is disgust, after all, how
could a woman leave her children? However, if a man did the very same some readers wouldn t
give it a second thought. Defoe s story brings to light societal concerns regarding women in his
time period and how society should address them.
The key issue is the number of children Moll has and leaves behind. In total, she has 12 children
by the end of her story; three are dead, seven that are left with their fathers or grandparents, and
two of which are left unaccounted for. Only one does she ever reunite with and not until late in
life. To society, the question remains, why she didn t try her best to bring up and support her
children from her first husband. Scholars question whether it was due to her own abandonment as
an infant and lack of a motherly figure to teach her how to love her own children, they were
nothing more than a happenstance of sex, or if it was because she was never able to feel secure
of her own basic needs and thus couldn t think to take care of another s. Firstly, Moll was born in a
prison because her mother was a convicted felon. After six months, her mother was transferred to a

The Impact Of Internet On The Level Of Competition
The ways in which the internet will affect the level of competition in this industry and for this case
include the following;
Cost Reduction
In the previous years, the film industry in Japan used to make use of many employees in the
production process. That means that the company spends a lot of money in paying for labor. With
the availability of the internet, there are animated pictures that are found on the internet and can be
used for the film production industry. That means that the number of employees who are used in
production will be reduced. The company will also be able to work in a fast way. That means that
the wages that were paid to the drawer over the three months of production will be drastically
reduced (Gardner, and Howard, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Availability of High Skilled Staff
With the availability of the internet, the companies in the film production industry will be able to
advertise for job vacancies via the internet. Internet adverts usually go wide and broad. That
means that the companies will have a wide variety of staff to select. That means they will get the
best skills from all over the world. Availability of skilled labor will lead to more innovations in the
company, and that will result in company efficiency. Availability of efficient staff usually leads to
increased efficiency that cuts on the costs of the company (Bartlett, Ghoshal, 140).
From the above advantages of the use of the internet, then to is evident that it will be the next big
thing that brings about competition. Companies should invest in technology so that they can
benefit from the advantages that accrue from the use of technology. With a rapidly growing
technological environment, it is advisable for companies to invest more in technology and that will
be their biggest source of competitive advantage (Due, 56).
Strategies That Can Be Adopted
Every organization should have laid down strategies that will help in the achievement of the goals
of a company. The first thing for a company is to set up its goals. The goals will help in
determining the strategy that will be used in a company. A company

also factors such as preferring people to live in the cities rather than villages, demanding the better

The Pros And Cons Of Air Pollution
Imagine the world around us different than how it would be now. Less safe and more risk for
diseases. People are finding it harder and harder to breathe the toxic air. It is becoming more
unbearable each day. Arctic sea levels have risen. Gas prices are at an all time high due to oil no
longer being as easy to grasp. The world we live in is dark, gloomy, and filled with a life that is
worrisome for us, and our future children. It is no longer livable for mankind, but how do we
avoid such a troublesome future? What is some sort of solution to help the future of mankind to
provide clean air not just for us, but for future generations? One simple solution to prevent this sad
future is purchasing an electric vehiclerather than a gasoline vehicle. According to the union of
concerned scientists in 2013, transportation contributed to more than half of the carbon monoxide
and nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons emitted into our air. This air
pollution carries significant risks for human health and the environment. Through clean vehicle and
fuel technologies, we can significantly reduce air pollution from our cars and trucks, while cutting
projected U.S oil use in half within the next 20 years. Due to such high gasoline prices, the electric
vehicles market has grown drastically in the past couple years. Electric cars are quiet, more energy
efficient, save you money, and have zero emissions rather than a gasoline car. Therefore, I support

Agamemnon And Achilles Essay
You Reap What You Sow: Honor Received from Hard Work as a Value of the Heroic Outlook on
Life in Homer s The Iliad
The Iliad, by Homer, is an epic poem set in the era of the Trojan War, accounting the battle logs
during the time of conflict between Agamemnon and Achilles, the text s tragic protagonist. The
heroic outlook on life, in Iliadic terms, is exemplified through the construction of one s honor
through hard work. Being an aspect of the heroic outlook of life, this value is demonstrated through
his contribution and dedication to the Trojan War, his experience with neglect from the deities,
Achilles overall disdain towards Agamemnon, and, lastly, his longingness towards Briseis, his dear
lover.
Honor can be demonstrated as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason why Achilles honor is determined by Zeus is because Achilles feels that since he has a
short lifespan, Zeus should give him honor to make his contributions during the war in a short
period of time worthwhile. However, Achilles is currently neglected by Zeus as the God of Gods
gives the Swift Runner nothing , after all his achievements made during the war, feeling mistreated
and denied of honor as the best of Achaeans , the hero of the Argives. This implies how Achilles, as
a hero, values his achievements and contributions as something worthy of honor, building blocks
that constructs his honor not only among men but also the gods. In short, having the deities
blessing honor onto a hero is a extravagant recognition to them, meaning that the hard work the
hero puts in is greatly appreciated and honored, even by the gods, therefore considered a heroic
outlook on life.
Referring to the first claim once again, Achilles overall disdain towards Agamemnon shows how
unheroic characters tend to be the opposite, solidifying the idea that a hero should be contributing
with their hard work to gain honor. Achilles describes Agamemnon s contribution to the war to be
minimal, seeing the Lord of Men skulking behind the lines, /safe in his fast ships (Il.9.402 03;
Fagles 262). While Agamemnon s contribution is meek, he is the one who would take it all,

shown in The Scarlet Ibis when Doodle s brother states, Doodle was my brother and he was
going to cling to me forever, no matter what I did, so I dragged him across the cotton field to Old
Woman Swamp. After that day Doodle and I often went down into Old Woman Swamp. This
shows that Doodle and his brother started to form a bond when they started to visit Old Woman
Swamp. Loss is another characteristic shown is The Scarlet Ibis. Loss is portrayed in The Scarlet

looked very familiar. Doodle! I screamed above the pounding storm and threw my body to the

Government Shutdown Essay
The October 2013 government shutdown stimulated a wave of delays in pay and furloughed non
excepted government contractors, which affected agency s operation, services, contracts, and
grants. The furlough builds exclusive doubts on government stability and security from the affected
contractors triggering a negative impact on their WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance
linking to CWB I and CWB O. Several research questions and hypotheses below correspond with
the problem statement and the purpose of the study. Q1. What percentage of government
contracting men and women were furloughed during the shutdown? Q2. How does furlough
impacts non excepted contractors WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance? Q3. What is the

How is job satisfaction and WLOC related? Q6. What is the relationship between furloughed
government contractors and WLOC as it relates to CWB I and CWB O? Q7. What are the effects
of shorter or longer furlough periods as it relates to CWB I and job performance? Q8. What are the
effects of shorter or longer furlough periods as it relates to CWB O and job dissatisfaction?
Hypotheses This study could potentially test the following hypotheses: H1a. Male contractors are
most likely affected by being furlough more than female contractors. H1b. Female contractors are
most likely affected by being furlough more than male contractors. H2a. Furlough is positively
associated with non excepted contractors WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance. H2b.
Furlough is negatively associated with non excepted contractors WLOC, job satisfaction, and job
performance. H3a. There is a positive relationship between WLOC, job satisfaction, and job
performance when non excepted government contractors are furlough. H3b. There is a negative
relationship between WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance when non excepted government
contractors are furlough. H4. Job performance mediates the relationship between furloughed

The Issue Of Offshore Jurisdictions
Introduction
At first glance, the legislation in offshore jurisdictions makes the repatriation of assets seemingly
impossible, providing the impossibility defence for debtors unwilling to relinquish assets owed to
creditors. Offshore jurisdictions may use clever tactics such as duress and flight clauses to make
repatriation of the assets in protection trusts difficult, but onshore jurisdictions are not to be fooled;
the court will either declare the trust a sham, void the transaction, threaten professional negligence
against the attorney or hold the settlor in contempt until compliance. As long as the debtor is
physically residing in the onshore jurisdiction and subject to the laws of that nation, the court can
effectively through coercive means attempt to repatriate the assets from the trust.
Sham Trusts
In Snook v London and West Riding Investments Ltd [1967] 2 QB 786, 802, Lord Diplock defined
sham as, acts done or documents executed by the parties to the sham which are intended by them to
give to third parties or to the court the appearance of creating between the parties legal rights and
obligations different from the actual legal rights and obligations (if any) which the parties intend to
create. But one thing, I think, is clear in legal principle, morality and the authorities ... that for acts
or documents to be a sham with whatever legal consequences follow from this, all the parties
thereto must have a common intention that the acts or documents are not

Importance Of Good Manners Essay
Manners, we hear about then every day, at home, at work, from our parents, and peers but do we
really recognize the importance of good manners? Manners are respectful actions that make an
ordinary man a gentleman. Good manners and courtesies are one of the most valuable facets of
society. They make a man a useful member of the world, making one functional in both their
professional life and personal life by helping us to win the favor and confidence of others. In
order to have progress in life, good manners are essential. On the other hand, an ill mannered man
is generally shunned by everyone and has no chance of success in any walk of life he pursues. In
today s society, proper etiquetteand good manners are almost nonexistent in some parts of the
country and we have to ask ourselves why this is. Why do people lack the basic etiquette that is
essential to living a professional and respectful life? The answer is that people are uneducated on
these topics. The fact is most parents don t do a good enough job building good etiquette habits in
their children and there is absolutely no requirement for the skills in the school systems. They may
be enforced but they are in no form taught in a formal classroom setting. In order to improve our
society and educate people of these essential etiquettes we must implement proper etiquette and life
skills classes in the youth school systems.
Family household dynamics are drastically different in today s society. According to the California

Social Work Capstone Reflection
This capstone course assisted in connecting all the material I have learned thus far in the
program as well as helped me to identify what skills and knowledge I need to continue working
on. The capstone presentation, as well as class, helped me to practice strength based language
and be conscious of how I describe my clients when presenting them to others. It can be a habit to
use negative language to describe a problem saturated story and unintentionally describe a patient
s story in a way that comes off as stigmatizing. This class helped me become conscious and tactful
about how I word sensitive circumstances. It was a great experience to present my patient s case to
the class and practice being thoughtful of how I portrayed my patient s presenting problem to the
group.
A patient frequently comes to a social worker with a variety of problems, and it can be
overwhelming trying to determine where to start with the patient. In capstone class, we discussed
presenting problems and determining which problem is more appropriate to focus on within the
agency setting. In class we were able to practice identifying the presenting problem by using case
vignettes as an example. This activity was extremely helpful in learning how to identify a patient s
presenting problem and acquiring the skill to determine which problem takes precedence within
certain settings. Two overarching perspectives that I will focus on are striving to be culturally
responsive and using evidence based

It s hard today to speak about Handel s life and works without mentioning the similarities between
him and Bach; first of all they were born in the same year:1685, even if it s not a case than the
most geniuses of the late baroque era (Couperin, Telemann Scarlatti ) would have almost been all

Essay about The Life of Abraham Lincoln
The Life of Abraham Lincoln
Although other states such as Indiana lay claim to his birth, most sources agree that Abraham
Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a backwoods cabin in Hodgeville, Kentucky. In an
interview during his campaign for the presidency in 1860 Lincoln described his adolescence as
quot;the short and simple annals of the poor. quot; (p 30). His father Thomas was a farmer who
married Nancy Hanks, his mother, in 1806.
Lincoln had one sister, Sarah, who was born in 1807.The Lincoln family was more financially
comfortable than most despite the common historical picture of complete poverty. They moved to
Indiana because of the shaky system of land titles in Kentucky. Because the Lincoln s arrived in

that arose from the National Rebublicans of 1824 was in opposition to the powerful Democratic
party of President Andrew Jackson. Lincoln agreed with Clay that the government should be a
positive force with the purpose of serving the people. Internal improvements were high on both

start.
As the Whigs rose in stature throughout the 1830 s, so did Lincoln, but not without paying his

The Wars by Timothy Findley Essay
The Inherent Evil of Humankind Joseph Conrad once observed that a belief in a supernatural
source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness. As a result of
the violence that is necessary during wartime, soldiers are permitted to engage in savage behavior
that is normally forbidden in society. In The Wars by Timothy Findley, however, soldiers act in
violent ways even when they are not actively engaged in battle. The inherently savage nature of
humankind is evident when Robert Ross kills the German soldier after the gas attack, when Robert
is raped in the baths, and when Robert kills Captain Leather. These violent events that occur outside
the direct action of the wardemonstrate the evil inherent in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Despite the fact that the German has let the rest of the soldiers escape unharmed, Robert s innate
violence triggers the death of an innocent soldier. Thus, Robert s actions reveal the inherent savage
nature of humankind. Not only does Robert s killing of the German soldier expose humanity s
inherent savagery, but his fellow soldiers brutal rape of Robert also shows the brutal nature of
humankind. After his shower, Robert senses a human presence in his cell and he was spun around
in the dark so many times he lost all sense of gravity.
Then he was lowered onto his back and held there by someone who was lying underneath him.
His legs were forced apart so far he thought they were going to be broken. Mouths began to suck at
his privates. Hands and fingers probed and poked at every part of his body. Someone struck him in
the face. (192)
Robert is ferociously raped and handled roughly in the darkness by the unknown males, and he
describes that he is spun around in the dark. The confusion that he faces causes him to lose all
sense of gravity, which emphasizes the intensity of this violent act. The severity of the rape scene
is once again emphasized when Robert elucidates that his legs are forced apart so far he thought
they were going to be broken and he is struck [...] in the face. The rapists do not merely rape
Robert; they viciously attack and beat him as well. After the

Industrialization During The 19th Century
Life in the 19th century changed rapidly due to the influences of the industrial revolution, which
lead to the mass production of goods, making products more affordable for common people.
Industrialisation lead to urbanisation and more people flocked from rural areas to towns
creating more disease, and by the end of the 1800 s 80% of the population of Britain lived in
cities. Steam powered cotton factories supplied half of the world and coal mining, in areas such
as Newcastle, expanded to meet the demands of railway construction. Ship building increased
and so did engineering. Farming was still big and machinery was easier to use and faster.
Craftsman, blacksmiths and carpenters could be found in rural areas, and lace making was a
popular industry there too. Factories were ill equipped but the conditions were bad. Children
were regularly used as they were ideal to do jobs in small spaces and for cleaning. The state took
over from the private, and law makers such as trade unions addressed and improved working
conditions, particularly child labour. The 1833 factory act improved conditions for children and
forbade factory owners from working children under 16 to work longer than 10 hours each day,
and that children under 13 years were to get at least 2 hours of education per day. There also
became a provide for inspectors. Working conditions continued to improve for the working poor,

Different Types And Patterns Of The World
It is early in the morning, and women in Hindu families all over the world are preparing to begin
their day. As the women in these families, they have many duties and rituals that they perform daily
for them and their families. After washing up, they clean the house and make sure that everything
is properly decorated. Next, they prepare the place that they are going to perform a ritualwhere they
make something called a Kolam.
Kolams are made in many different places, there are different types and patterns, and there are
many reasons that Kolams are said to be made. First, I want to look at what they actually are: A
kolam is a drawing that is typically done at the entrance of a house and is created from rice flour.
Kolams are not only made for the entrance of a house however. Kolams are also made for things
other than every day activities such as weddings and in front of temples, which are considered
sacred kolams that are not to be touched. Kolams are drawn for festivals and many other special
events. Although there are several traditional patterns, kolams do not always have a pattern and the
creativity of the drawing is left up to whomever is drawing it. Kolam is practiced only by women
and is taught to the younger girls in the family by the mothers. They are very intricate drawings and
there are certain ways in which the women go about drawing them.
The place that the women prepare for the kolam is cleaned and then dampened with water in hopes

The Meaning Of Discipline In School
Discipline means follow rules to be worked hard by someone in the interest of teaching something
to the student. Discipline is taught in many places in many ways. I was taught discipline at a school
that studied the art of taekwondo. This school helped me with my shyness and confidence problem.
Without Euns Martial ArtsCenter I would not be the person I am today. My first year of taekwondo
taught me the meaning of discipline. Joining this school was one the best decisions I ever made.
I can never forget the day I decided this was the thing I wanted to do. It was a sunny day and my
dad and I were wondering around Knoxville when we came upon EMAC. My dad had decided
that I needed something to help me with my lack of confidence so we walked through that door.
I was amazed as we sat there and watched the class. There were colorful belts and at the end they
fought each other with pads on their legs and arms. After they bowed and shook hands with the
teacher and his assistants. He walked over to where we were sitting.
Welcome! he said with a Korean accent. My dad introduced himself and I did the same. Then
we followed him to a room in the back of what looked like a padded room where the class had
just practiced. I didn t know it then it said OFFICE. I was amazed by the Korean artifacts. He
and my dad talked like what seemed like an hour. Then I tried on uniforms they were white and
felt like itchy paper on my skin ,but it fit. We then said good bye to the teacher and went on

Stereotypes In Skyscraper
Have you thought about songs that represent you? Songs can explain everything you are going
through, you just have to listen or read the lyrics. The song Skyscraper by Demi Lovato
represents me because of how no one can tear me down, I have been hurt for so long I have
learned how to ignore the pain most days. Next, the lyrics from Adam s Songby Blink 182 relates to
me because I have hit rock bottom and decided that I thought suicide was the answer but I
changed my mind soon after those thoughts. Then the lyrics from Hall of Fame by The Script
showed me that I can do whatever my heart desires and that I should not listen to the people
trying to drag me down. That is to say, If Everyone Cared by Nickelback is what I wish everyone

You may not realize what was said was hurtful to that individual, but to that individual that can
be the words they wake up to in the morning or when they look at themselves in the mirror. My
freshman year of high school I got called a whale, and that 110% still sticks with me. Every time
I look into a mirror I replay that moment, and see that guy who said those things and I could tell
it did not bother him one bit. As the lyrics from the song You Want A Battle? ( Heres a War)
state, your words cut deep.../ I will not take this anymore/ These words will not be ignored/ you
want a battle/ here s a war (Bullet For My Valentine 2015). When a bully bullies an individual you
have to learn to stand up for yourself, tell someone, let people know you are being bullied so that
you do not have to continue feeling worthless because of a single ignorant comment. Sometimes it
is best to ignore that person, because they will realize that their words do not affect you, they

Meiosis In Children Lab Report
Introduction Ever wonder how children inherit their parent s traits? Though every human being is
unique, there are often family shared traits that stand out from family to family. Family similarities
occur because children inherit genes from their parents. Genes are genetic information that
contributes to what traits children get, or don t get, from their parents. A child s genetic information
is shared through tetrads. Tetrads are homologous pairs that carry genes controlling the same
inherited trait. Tetrads are exchanged and distributed to the child during the process of meiosis.
Hypothesis Crossing over in meiosis increases genetic variation in the offspring s traits. Occurring
in interphase one, crossing over is the process... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, to possibly explore how meiosis ensures new traits and diversity. The data showed that when
going through the meiosis simulation there will be different varieties and possibilities of ending
chromosomes in the four haploid daughter cells. The genetic information of the chromosomes
began to change during prophase. Here, the homologous chromosomes are coming closer to form
tetrads and are exchanging segments of adjacent non sister chromatids. The chromatids can do this
by breaking and reattaching to the other chromatids, this is called crossing over. After this each
ending chromosome varied in genetic information. The completion of the lab the results in 4
haploid cells, each with a unique set of chromosomes. Therefore, the outcome of meiosis will

Adolf Hitler And The Holocaust
Adolf Hitler, chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and fГјhrer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to
1945, was the mastermind behind both World War II within Europe and the Holocaust. In the Final
Solution, concentration and extermination camps were implemented in an attempt to rid of the
Jewish population entirely. Such a task, genocide, would not be done easily. By the end of World
War II, over six million Jews had been killed. However, not merely Jews were subject to mass
murder, but nearly five million non Jewish people. Out of all of these deaths, a range from
1,885,889 to 2,045,215 were in the concentration camp system. Furthermore, approximately one
million of these deaths were carried out within the Auschwitz concentration campcomplex. Thus,
one in every six Jews killed during the holocaustwas killed at an Auschwitz camp. These
extermination camps were the only means by which such a multitude of murder could have been
efficiently accomplished. The systematic mechanization of mass murder, using gas chambers and
crematoria, made such high death tolls fathomable, making efficient killing easier both physically
and psychologically.
The concentration camp system was established well before World War II and the Final Solution.
The camps had commonly been constructed in desolate places, free from German jurisdiction.
Thus, allowing murder in both large and small amounts to be carried out surreptitiously. Some, if
not most, of these murders being cursorily reported. As

Weathering The Postwar Years Chapter 2 Summary
1. The chapter I am reviewing is chapter 2, Weathering the Postwar Years. This chapter is about
how the Signal Corps regained their place after the Civil War by establishing their mission as the
weather service provider. General Myer was the main effort to revive the Signal Corps back to
life. The need for reporting the weather paved the road for the Signal Corps to build the telegraph
network lines throughout the country. This network enabled the Signal Corps to communicate and
share data instantly. Though the Signal Corps was successful when it started, it had trials and
tribulations of its own that it had to endure. 2. General Myer wanted to establish a more concrete

Mrs. Lovett, What about the judge? When will I get to him? The entire musical is about
Sweeney breaking the moral law. In the artistically stunning Epiphany, many of his Machiavellian

him back (the Judge who has escaped death) even as he gloats. In the meantime I ll practice on
less honorable throats. Clearly, this means he plans to murder everyone who comes into his

Persuasive Essay On Weightlifting
Weight training is vital to your sports performance, because if you are matched with someone in
skill, then it will take speed, power, and strength to defeat your opponent on the court, field or in the
ring.
Some athletes even coaches and trainers get confused with the deference between, bodybuilding or
muscle building vs. weight training for strength and power for specific sports.
For example having huge muscular legs does NOT mean you can jump very high, or run very fast;
increased jumping ability comes from being able to lift with speed.
If the weight continues to increase and the speed stays the same, power and vertical jumping ability
will increase only if you maintain your body weight.
When using weight lifting for sports the main goal is to improve and strengthen movements in your

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of The Movie The Single Moms...
In today s society, media portrays more stereotypes than we can count on one hand. Latino s and
Latina s are particularly stereotyped in media way too often. This overview of the most common
Hispanic stereotypes portrayed in the media reveals why sweeping generalizations about Latinos
are harmful (Nittle). Whether it is a male or female Latin actress/actor, the stereotypesrage from:
Latin lovers and sexpot s to thugs and immigrants. When in reality, not all Latino s are what the
stereotypes claim.
Have you ever seen a movie or show in which the main male character is a Hispanic hunk who
gets all the ladies? He would be considered a Latin Lover , which in other words is the real world
Latino Ken Doll with a great romantic and sexual prowess. William Levy, a Cuban American
actor and model, is an exact replica of this Latin Ken Doll. In the movie, The Single Moms Club,
Levy plays the hunky secret boyfriend of one of the mothers. Of course, because he is a Latin
lover he is absolutely gorgeous just as his lady is, he is said to be a master in the sheets and also
has a big heart. Although in the real world, just as any other culture or race, not all Latino men are
perfect, and mirror Greek Gods.
Latina women are often portrayed as sexy, sassy, and spicy on television according to Sexy, Sassy,

Decline of US Dollar
For more than sixty years the United States dollar has been the central reserve currency for the
world. A reserve currency, also referred to as an anchor currency, is a currency that is held in
significant quantities by governments and institutions as part of their foreign exchange reserves
(Carbaugh, 2011). As the world s reserve currency, the U.S. dollar is used throughout the world as
a medium of exchange and is used as the global currency for products traded within the global

All of these actions by the U.S. Government have greatly increased its reliance on foreign investors
to fund both large budget and trade deficits.
Increased trade deficits can be concerning, but it is the United State s large budget deficits that
are concerning the worldwide leaders. The trade deficit is a reflection of the United States rapid
growth compared to other countries along with the continued injection of foreign funds into the
U.S. due to the dollar being the reserve currency (Carbaugh, 2011). A portion of the trade deficit is
a result of a capital surplus and not a reflection of an imbalance in the U.S. economy. In other
words, the budget deficit is due to a structural imbalance as the U.S. is spending beyond their means.
Due to the $14 trillion deficit, the United States has had to print more dollars to support their
financial responsibilities. Foreign countries and investors have concerns that the U.S. will be
confronted with financial difficulties in the future which will result in the depreciation of the dollar
and also increased inflation. If this were to occur, foreign nations who have invested in millions of
U.S. dollars would lose considerable amounts of their investments. These concerns have caused

How Does the Line Between High and Pop Culture Become...
In this essay I intend to explore what is meant by the terms popular culture and high culture. I will
also look at how the relationship between these two terms has become distorted and blurred over
time. In order to reinforce what I am saying about popular and high culture I will be using a range
of examples from the music industry to show how the line between high cultureand popular culture
has become ambiguous. I will also call upon the work of John Storey to give my work an
academic foundation. Although Storey is the main academic I will be looking at, I will also include
references to a number of other academics who have written about popular culture and high culture.

Tupac s All Eyez On Me
During the past year, I have started to listen to more hip hop music. I went to see the movie
about Tupac s life, All Eyez on Me , with my friends, which intrigued me to look into him more
as an artist and a person. What I found fascinating about Tupac s songs is that how he is taking a
stand in social and cultural issues in his lyrics, in contrast to most rap songs nowadays that
revolve around money, sex and alcohol. Because of his socially conscious lyrics, Tupac has been
called one of the most influential rappers of all time. In class, we looked into different forms of
dialects and slangs and discussed how they form one s identity, which I found very interesting.
Tupac was a perfect example of this. Therefore, I wanted to create a column in the magazine Rolling

skills and improve psychological health in addition to physical health, noting several other authors
works on the subject. He shares the results of an experiment that was conducted with non
professional dancers of two different genres of dance; street and modern (ten of each) in his
article. The purpose of this experiment was to establish the current emotional state and
background of the participants before they started dancing and see if possible changes occurred
due to the effects of dancing. The dancers were both male and female (six female and four male
street dancers, ten female modern dancers) between the ages of 17 and 36, and the only
requirement was that the participants of this study attend dance classes at least two times a
week. The positive factors that were measured in this experiment were psychological well being
and activeness, and negative factors were anxious expectations, fears and sadness. Dancers were
given a questionnaire as a pre test and post test before and after every class for a set period of
time. The questionnaire consisted of 24 adjectives that described psychological experiences,
feelings and emotional states that the dancers ranked on a scale of zero to four (zero meaning they

Use Of Propaganda In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Throughout history propaganda has been a way for sinful leaders to manipulate their citizens. In
George Orwell s novel Animal Farm, an allegory based on events that took place during the Russian
Revolution pigs overrule the farm. In the novel the animals take over Manor Farm from their past
leader and establishes a new community. Napoleon, the leader of the farm, and Squealer the
mastermind behind persuading the animals, manipulate the animals into trusting their leader
completely. Napoleon and Squealer effectively use propaganda to achieve domination on Animal
Farm.
One type of propaganda that Napoleon and Squealer use effectively to control the animals is
cult of personality. Cult of personality is usually used to praise the leader. A few days after the
execution of the animals, Napoleon decides to get rid of Beasts of England. He says that there
was no reason for it, now that the rebellion was over. The general feeling of the farm was well
expressed in a poem entitled comrade Napoleon, which was composed by Minimus (Orwell 94).
By creating a song that glorifies Napoleon, this benefits what the animals think of Napoleon.

Causes Of Celiac Disease
Every day, people are diagnosed with various diseases. Many of these diseases affect different
parts of the body, including but not limited to the stomach, liver, or heart. One disease that affects
the stomach is celiac disease. Celiac disease occurs in the small intestine where it destroys the
stomach lining and causes the stomach to not be able to digest any gluten products: wheat, barley,
or rye. A person may find out one has celiac disease through bloodtests and an endoscopy. There is
no cure for celiac disease, and a person will have it for the rest of one s life. The only current

Homo Sapiens In Search For Fire
Lets take it back 80,000 years, to when fire was first discovered. The film Quest For Fire was set
in Paleolithic Europe, and provides an accurate idea of the behaviour and life of the early human
species. By watching the film, it is clear to see that some tribes/groups are very different from
others, such as the homo erectusand the homo sapiens. The homo sapien specimen was the
precursor of modern humans, and was therefore capable of doing a lot more than the homo erectus
could. For example, the homo sapiens were clearly more socially advanced than the homo erectus.

erectus tends to sleep in large groups, in a communal fashion. However, the homo sapiens tend
to live in smaller groups, as families, sort of like how we tend to live now. The homo erectus
group also appeared to have a hierarchical system, where some members were ranked higher or
lower than each other, according to status/authority. When it comes to the homo erectus group, they
tend to live in a more equal society. For instance, in the movie, the homo sapien women actually
have choice in what they do. While the homo erectus men would just rape women, going against
the women s desires, the homo sapiens had a sense of intimacy. Homo sapiens often used sex as a
way to bond with their partner, and in most cases, it actually meant something. In the movie, it
appears that both partners provided consent when two homo sapiens were having sex, which was
not the case for the homo erectus members. Another thing that differentiates the homo sapiens and
the homo erectus is that the homo erectus community in the movie had a lot of taboos, while the
homo sapiens had less of a tendency to instigate conflict. In the homo erectus community there
were many social prohibitions, and several actions that were declared as sacred and forbidden. If
you were to break one of these taboos, you would most likely be looked down upon, and be
considered abhorrent to others. However, the homo sapiens in the movie tended not to instigate
conflict like the homo erectus community did. Overall, the homo sapiens were more civilized than
the homo erectus

The Advantages of an Automated System
The likely main advantage of such an automated system is the fact that it is a much faster system
than the general approach to recruitment and selection. The fact that the system is automated
would mean that the entire process is less complicated and time is saved. The business benefits
from the fact that the people who are hired can immediately start work and be included in the
business process. Another great advantage is the cost advantage. The fact that this system is
automated likely means a one time payment to the company or software producer who has created
the system in the first place, plus potential additional periodical costs related to the system s
maintenance. However, for automated system, it is likely that the human resource and personnel
costs will significantly decrease. The automated system requires fewer people to work it,
potentially only one or two. The non automated system involves individuals at every stage of the
process, including the recruitment and selection phases. The cost advantage is also complemented
by the fact that the automated system would be implemented for individuals that are hired in

Homeostasis In The Human Body
Homeostasis is a healthy state that is maintained by the constant adjustment of biochemical and
physiological pathways in the human body where a human is able to maintain stability,
equilibrium and consistency needed to carry out its normal reactions. An example of homeostasis
in humans is the maintenance of blood glucose levels which are maintained through the endocrine
and nervous systems. Glucose is a monosaccharide sugar and is the only sugar found in the blood
as fructose and galactose are absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and is converted into
glucose in the liver. Glucose is used by virtually all cells, including neurons (nerve cells) for
cellular respiration. This sugar needs to be present in the blood at all times to fuel... Show more

When blood glucose levels rise, there is an increase in soluble glucose molecules in the blood and
is detected by the beta cells of the pancreas in the islets of Langerhans of the endocrine tissue. Beta
cells respond to hyperglycaemic stimuli by producing a hormone called insulin which stimulates
cells, especially adipose and muscle cells, to take up soluble glucose molecules from the blood.
Insulin is a short protein consisting of a string of amino acids with a particular shape. Insulin
responds to this hyperglycaemic change by converting individual glucose molecules to form
polysaccharide molecules called glycogen, which is stored in the liver and muscles and triggering
glucose transporter molecules to gate glucose into the cell.[1] This process is called glycogenesis.
Beta cells are the only cells in the body that produce insulin that enters the bloodstream straight
away. The stored insoluble glycogen causes the amount of glucose present in the bloodstream to
decrease and therefore insulin has a hypoglycaemic effect on the body. The mitochondria of cells
require glucose to drive cellular processes such as muscle movement, and the glucose metabolized

The Influence Of Aristotle s Arguments On Single Time
Aristotle has constructed theories and arguments that set him apart from Socrates and Plato. One of
his arguments allegedly concludes that humans cannot affect the future. Though many find comfort
in this conclusion many find it depressing that they are powerless to create a good future. Aristotle
s argument uses a single linear timeline to show the validity of his claims. However, the
predeterminist idea that everything that happens in the future is one single timeline rather than
countless branches stretched out across time and the reality that is experienced is the branch that is
actualized.
In his argument, Aristotle claims that there are only two possible outcomes for any prediction,
either it is true, or it is false. If the prediction is true, then it was always true that the prediction was
going to be true, and therefore the prediction could never have been false. Because the prediction
could never have been false then the prediction is a necessary truth. This was smart of Aristotle
because, by definition, a necessary truth can never be false. Because the prediction, as a necessary
truth, cannot be made to be false. Therefore, all predictions that are true cannot be changed to be
false. As a result, every event that happens in the future cannot be changed. Additionally, because
anything that could be accurately predicted as true cannot be changed, nothing can change the
events of the future. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is represented in the premise that states that a prediction that is true could not have not been
true. Though this premise helps the argument to be possibly true, it doesn t seem undeniable that
this is the way time works in reality. A good counterview of this premise is a complicated timeline
that allows the possibility of events that truly happen to not have

On the 10th of May 1508 I signed a contract to agree to fulfill Pope Julius commission on painting
the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. I had bad feelings about thewhole thing from the day Julius
commissioned me to paint instead of sculpt. I am anarchitect and sculptor not a fresco painter. It is
not that I doubt my ability s to completesuch a task, but I believe that there are other artists that
would be much better suited for the job than I. It is of course an honor to be chosen to paintsuch a

here. I will paint this ceiling, not for the popeand not for the Romans but for myself, to fell proud
of my own work.
To show the reality in this painting of Noah I will place him collapsed on theground next to a jug

what God s plan is for him and his family. Noah issuch a peaceful man with a lot on his mind and
this is how I will paint him. (Camesasca,

How Does The Speaker Use Imagery In The Rainy Day
A booming echo of thunder bellows in the distance as the rain hurls upon the earth with no intent of
ceasing, demolishing what would have been a gorgeous sunny day. Abruptly, the precipitation
pauses, the sun glows upon the land, and the harmonious chirps of birds fill the air. In Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow s poem The Rainy Day, he depicts the immediate and long term effects of
enduring hardships on the mind. Misfortunes are an inescapable element of the life of any
individual. Symbolism and imagery convey the speaker s initial mindset that life will always
remain dull and gloomy. For example, what begins as a sorrowful day transitions into the speaker s
whole life, which he describes as cold, and dark, and dreary, (7). Addressing the entirety of life in
this manner identifies immense emotional unrest. This negative mindset influences the belief that
there are no moments to cherish in life. In addition, the speaker discusses his unsettling thoughts
that cling to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

shining, (12). The sun is a symbol for better days and more positive instances yet to come. These
pleasurable moments are masked by symbolic clouds that represent the complications that make
life seem dreary. This demonstrates the understanding that pain and discomfort are provisional.
Moreover, the speaker continues to explain his belief that, Into each life some rain must fall,
/ Some days must be dark and dreary, (14). The rain represents hardships and unpleasant days,
which are now understood to be inevitable. Instead of fretting over these obstacles, the speaker
learns to accept this fate. As the turmoil begins to cease and a wave of content commences, the
speaker realizes that bad days are unavoidable, but they do not last

John F. Kennedy Essay
Among his many honors as President of the United States of America, John Fitzgerald Kennedy
remains the youngest man ever elected to the office of Chief Executive, and the youngest man to
die while still fulfilling his duties. Serving as America s President, John F. Kennedy held his office
for 1000 days, dying November 22nd, 1963, assassinated at the age of 46.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, the second son
of nine children of the wealthy Roman Catholic Kennedy family. Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Kennedy
s father, was a self improving multi millionaire who had built a financial empire through projects in

That very thesis was later expanded into his best selling book, While England Slept.
As a youth, John F. Kennedy never sought a vocation in politics, but planned to become a
journalist. Joseph Kennedy, as head of the nation s Securities and Exchange Commission and a
U.S. Ambassador, coached his eldest son, Joe, to move on and increase his family s political
tradition. Joe and John Kennedy both enlisted in the armed forces during World War II, John
joining the U.S. Navy in 1941.
In 1943, while appointed to the South Pacific as the commander of a torpedo boat, John
Kennedy was nearly killed in combat when his PT 109 ship was rammed and sunk by an enemy
ship. The 26 year old Kennedy, though badly wounded, was able to bring his existing crew
through miles of harsh waters to shelter, an act which earned him the U.S. Navy and Marine
Corps Medal for Heroism. Kennedy s injuries seriously aggravated an old back injury, and
although what proved to be chronic pain, he returned to active duty and served until 1945. Kennedy
s older brother Joe, the successor apparent to the Kennedy s political tradition, did not endure the
war.
Once stateside, John Kennedy was able to momentarily chase a journalism career as a reporter for
the Hearst Newspapers, but was steered into politics by Joseph Kennedy. In 1947, John F. Kennedy
was elected the

Changes in the Social and Political Fabric in 16th and...
The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were periods of questioning and searching for truth. The
practice of challenging traditional institutions, including the Church, was revolutionary. Individuals
began to use reason to guide their actions and opinions and realized the oppressive nature of the
Catholic monarchy. Individuals strove to act in their own best interest and in the name of what
was true to them. The consensus was that society would be better off with an economy that
shifted away from agriculture, looked globally, and decreased monopolies and the importance of
Guilds, as economic opportunities would surface for all classes of men. This type of economy was
only possible in light of religious reform, as religionwas the... Show more content on

These men were taxed, denied an education, and politically underrepresented. They received few
benefits from their work and were ready to challenge their subordinate role in society. Such
individuals were attracted to rebellion against their Catholic oppressors and to Protestantism which
advocated an involved citizenry. In the Netherlands in 1566, Calvinists destroyed property owned
by the Catholic Church in response to a permanent sales tax that hurt many commoners and Philip
II s attempts to crush heresy. Similarly, noblemen supported the rebellion against the Catholic
monarchy, desiring freedom from economic and political restraints (Spielvogel, 405). This was the
beginning of a movement of religious partition and resulting secularization, and it traversed all
classes in nearly all European nations. Such secularization was necessary for the development of the
emerging economy.
The state became increasingly centralized. Small, religiously guided, regional governments
decreased in importance. This was a necessary change for the development of infrastructure such as
currency, contracts, and general order which were integral to a nation s success in the new global
economy and could only be effective in the context of a centralized government. The building of
roads and ships, establishing banks, and even creating currency inevitably translated into

Bad Problems In My Life
Bad things happen to everyone. Everyone has their problems but life still will go on, whether
you want it to or not. My timeline shows problems that I had throughout the past 17 years of my
life. I had surgerys, and i ve hurt myself too many time to count, but I kept on going. Even when I
was young, I pushed past all those problems, and I still have continued to succeed today. I do
things I need to do to get where I wantto be later, whether it was something small of something
big for me, I got it done. I took some time off, I got better, and I didn t let these downfalls slow
me down. I got sick often when I was younger, so the liquids would drain from my sinuses and
into my ears, but my ears would not drain. I got tubes put in my ears to help drain some of that
liquid. When kids get tubes put in their ears they have to be put to sleep. Once you get out of the
hospital the next couple of days you were told to just rest, I guess I was just a hard head back
then because I did not listen. I was up trying to play within thirty minutes of being home. I
sprained my ankle at a softball game. I went to the hospital, they gave me the things I needed:
crutches, the blue stabilizer thing. I never had to use crutches before, so I never knew how to use
them. I was a kid back then, so I didn t want to stay in bed. I wanted to go to all my dad s co ed
softball games. I fell so many times on the crutches, I probably would of walked better and faster
just by walking regularly. I had to

Analysis Of The Movie China Boy And John Maxwell Coetzee...
The role of motherhood is iconic; with expectations of nurturance and altruistic acts of love which
are difficult to live up to. Charged with giving selflessly and expected to love to the point of
abandoning their own needs; mothers are simultaneously expected to expertly navigate the process
of initially having an intense, all encompassing relationship with their offspring to gradually letting
go and encouraging their child s independent development. While error is expected and
surmountable; maternal abandonment and rejection result in dire consequences for children to
overcome. In the following two stories, Gus Lee s China Boy and John Maxwell Coetzee s Life

During her illness and death, Michael takes on a nurturing role; caring for her and seeing to it that
she is respectfully buried.
Perhaps it was out of an unmet desire for his absent mother, or because he had been secluded, from
all but her presence so early in life, which led to Michael K s having developed an enmeshed
relationship with his mother. Unfortunately, this inhibits his ability to interact with the world on his
own and he appears incapable of communicating the intensity of their bond or to express an
emotional response outside of this relationship. His task is to learn how to separate from his
mother and develop into a separate individual.
Due to his life experiences, Michael is perplexed when his friend says: People must help each
other, that s what I believe (Coetzee 48). After thinking about if he has beliefs or might help
people, he concludes: Do I believe in helping people? . . . Perhaps I am the stony ground, he
thought (Coetzee 48). Yet, clearly Michael is compassionate certainly in the treatment of his
mother, whom he cares for with a sense of duty and dignity that she never gave to him:
. . . did not like the physical intimacy . . . forced upon the two of them. He found the sight of his
mother s swollen legs disturbing and turned his eyes away when he had to help her out of bed.

Adversity In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
People constantly determine that hardships prepare them for an anomalous triumph and that
without adversity they will not have the strength to excel. However, in trying to achieve
adversity people damage their psychological well being, just like the Tuskegee Airmen who
faced racial discrimination for serving their country. Although this may be true, the Roman poet
Horace elucidates that Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous
circumstances would have lain dormant . This is often exemplified in A Raisin in the Sun and
through Cristian Mariano Deppeler. To initiate, if it wasn t for the hardships that adversity
exposes people to, then many would not see meaning in their life, and in some cases, end up
putting and end to it. For instance, the story of Cristian Mariano Deppeler, a social
communicator that is known today for his video on YouTube in which he shocked the world and
affirmed that he is not disabled . Even though the doctors said that Deppeler was going to be a

How Does Adichie s Collection Explore The Notion Of...
How does Adichie s collection explore the notion of identity? In the anthology The Thing Around
Your Neck, our author exposes her readers to various characters who face challenges about their
identity and sense of belonging. Many of Adichie s characters weigh their value and sense of self
against their gender. Some of her characters find security in the fact that they are male. Conversely,
some of her other characters feel lost and in despair, and this may be contributed by the fact that
they are at the receiving end of prejudiced treatment. Also, Adichie uses narrativestrategies in order
to explore some deep rooted mentalities regarding identity. By keeping some of her characters
unnamed and describing them using only their race or nationality, she seems to be challenging
the concept of homogenous identity. She also seems to be encouraging her readers to recognize
her characters as singular people, not as representatives of certain a certain race or nationality.
Adichie also uses second person narration in some of her short stories in order for her readers to
be more involved in the narrative. She exposes her readers to feelings of loneliness, anonymity
and loss faced by her characters in order for them to have a more relatable grasp of their situation
in the hopes that they would be able to understand and accept her characters more readily. By
subjecting some of her characters to sexist and biased treatment, Adichie seeks to expose her
readers to the reality of how a

Companies Are Treating The Animals We Will Ultimately Consume
In America, our everyday lives tend to revolve around our food choices. The average consumer
veers towards the quick and easy food options. Without prior knowledge, an individual could be
consuming contaminated meat products that were produced on a factory farm. Since the 1960 s,
factory farming has accounted for over 99% of the meat sold in the United States (Zacharias,
2011). The move towards large, factory farms saves meat industry millions of dollars a day. These
farms pose a huge risk to public health and environmental safety. Currently, four major companies
produce 85% of all the beef in the United States (Bernice, 2014). It is important to examine how
these companies are treating the animals we will ultimately consume. Knowing what these animals
are fed, the conditions they are kept in and the effect that these factory farms have on the
environment is essential for our health. But are there other options other than Big Ag corporations?
Smaller, family owned farms might be the key to better nutrition and a smaller, ecofriendly
footprint. Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) are defined as agricultural operations
where animals are kept and raised in confined situations (Foundation). The EPA estimates that there
are over 450,000 CAFOs in the United States (Humane Society). These operations can hold over
100,000 chickens, 10,000 pigs or 1,000 cattle. Factory farmingis a relatively recent development in
food production. The introduction of antibiotics and

  • 2. Examples Of Faith In Good Country People Faith is what someone knows to be true, whether they believe it or not. Whether provoked by doctor s grim diagnosis or inspired by something else, these words of Flannery O Connor are a good example of how one should always follow this rule in order to meet their expectations of life. However, it is in our human nature to think, dream, and imagine things that are far from our knowledge. O Connor s Good Country People tells the story of Hulga, a girl with an artificial leg who loses it after blindly believing the lies of astute Manley Pointer, a Bible salesman. Using the example of Hulga, Good Country People proves how unrealistic expectations can lead to unhappiness and dissatisfaction. This happens because faith does not play a role... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They symbolize their personalities and ways of acting. Good Country People begins with Mrs. Freeman free man . She is indeed free she has got the freedom to aware herself of everything around her and to spread information about it. She benefits also from her freedom of speech and personal opinion by always sharing her thoughts on various topics. What is more, Mrs. Freeman thinks she is never wrong about anything she says. This is possible through the universal formula that she invents: Well, I wouldn t of said it was and wouldn t of said it wasn t (445). Having different facial expressions and fast eyes, and being aim driven as a heavy truck , she does not let anything happen without her knowledge. Mrs. Hopewell, the big boss from the high level, finds a way to benefit from these characteristics of her servant. Despite being irritated, Mrs. Hopewell carefully listens to the heavy truck using her for as a free information source. She hopes well that the world goes around her and is firmly convinced that it is so simple that she can easily have everything she wants. This explains her pleasure when Mrs. Freeman agrees with everything she says. However, she is unable to realize how ironical everything is and that her moral blindness is much deeper than her visionary wisdom . By underestimating her servant she cannot understand Mrs. Freeman s hypocrisy which can be concluded in her naming Hulga Joy in front of the boss and with her real name all the other time. This way Mrs. Hopewell becomes easily vulnerable, which raises the question of who of the two women is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Moll Flanders Analysis In Daniel Defoe s Moll Flanders we follow a woman named Moll throughout her life. She encounters several serious situations, gets married five times, and has many children that she leaves in the care of their fathers or paternal grandparents. As a society, the first emotion that comes to our minds when we recognize these behaviors in a woman is disgust, after all, how could a woman leave her children? However, if a man did the very same some readers wouldn t give it a second thought. Defoe s story brings to light societal concerns regarding women in his time period and how society should address them. The key issue is the number of children Moll has and leaves behind. In total, she has 12 children by the end of her story; three are dead, seven that are left with their fathers or grandparents, and two of which are left unaccounted for. Only one does she ever reunite with and not until late in life. To society, the question remains, why she didn t try her best to bring up and support her children from her first husband. Scholars question whether it was due to her own abandonment as an infant and lack of a motherly figure to teach her how to love her own children, they were nothing more than a happenstance of sex, or if it was because she was never able to feel secure of her own basic needs and thus couldn t think to take care of another s. Firstly, Moll was born in a prison because her mother was a convicted felon. After six months, her mother was transferred to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Impact Of Internet On The Level Of Competition The ways in which the internet will affect the level of competition in this industry and for this case include the following; Cost Reduction In the previous years, the film industry in Japan used to make use of many employees in the production process. That means that the company spends a lot of money in paying for labor. With the availability of the internet, there are animated pictures that are found on the internet and can be used for the film production industry. That means that the number of employees who are used in production will be reduced. The company will also be able to work in a fast way. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of Air Pollution Imagine the world around us different than how it would be now. Less safe and more risk for diseases. People are finding it harder and harder to breathe the toxic air. It is becoming more unbearable each day. Arctic sea levels have risen. Gas prices are at an all time high due to oil no longer being as easy to grasp. The world we live in is dark, gloomy, and filled with a life that is worrisome for us, and our future children. It is no longer livable for mankind, but how do we avoid such a troublesome future? What is some sort of solution to help the future of mankind to provide clean air not just for us, but for future generations? One simple solution to prevent this sad future is purchasing an electric vehiclerather than a gasoline vehicle. According to the union of concerned scientists in 2013, transportation contributed to more than half of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons emitted into our air. This air pollution carries significant risks for human health and the environment. Through clean vehicle and fuel technologies, we can significantly reduce air pollution from our cars and trucks, while cutting projected U.S oil use in half within the next 20 years. Due to such high gasoline prices, the electric vehicles market has grown drastically in the past couple years. Electric cars are quiet, more energy efficient, save you money, and have zero emissions rather than a gasoline car. Therefore, I support the investment of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Agamemnon And Achilles Essay You Reap What You Sow: Honor Received from Hard Work as a Value of the Heroic Outlook on Life in Homer s The Iliad The Iliad, by Homer, is an epic poem set in the era of the Trojan War, accounting the battle logs during the time of conflict between Agamemnon and Achilles, the text s tragic protagonist. The heroic outlook on life, in Iliadic terms, is exemplified through the construction of one s honor through hard work. Being an aspect of the heroic outlook of life, this value is demonstrated through his contribution and dedication to the Trojan War, his experience with neglect from the deities, Achilles overall disdain towards Agamemnon, and, lastly, his longingness towards Briseis, his dear lover. Honor can be demonstrated as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason why Achilles honor is determined by Zeus is because Achilles feels that since he has a short lifespan, Zeus should give him honor to make his contributions during the war in a short period of time worthwhile. However, Achilles is currently neglected by Zeus as the God of Gods gives the Swift Runner nothing , after all his achievements made during the war, feeling mistreated and denied of honor as the best of Achaeans , the hero of the Argives. This implies how Achilles, as a hero, values his achievements and contributions as something worthy of honor, building blocks that constructs his honor not only among men but also the gods. In short, having the deities blessing honor onto a hero is a extravagant recognition to them, meaning that the hard work the hero puts in is greatly appreciated and honored, even by the gods, therefore considered a heroic outlook on life. Referring to the first claim once again, Achilles overall disdain towards Agamemnon shows how unheroic characters tend to be the opposite, solidifying the idea that a hero should be contributing with their hard work to gain honor. Achilles describes Agamemnon s contribution to the war to be minimal, seeing the Lord of Men skulking behind the lines, /safe in his fast ships (Il.9.402 03; Fagles 262). • 12. The Issue Of Offshore Jurisdictions Introduction At first glance, the legislation in offshore jurisdictions makes the repatriation of assets seemingly impossible, providing the impossibility defence for debtors unwilling to relinquish assets owed to creditors. Offshore jurisdictions may use clever tactics such as duress and flight clauses to make repatriation of the assets in protection trusts difficult, but onshore jurisdictions are not to be fooled; the court will either declare the trust a sham, void the transaction, threaten professional negligence against the attorney or hold the settlor in contempt until compliance. As long as the debtor is physically residing in the onshore jurisdiction and subject to the laws of that nation, the court can effectively through coercive means attempt to repatriate the assets from the trust. Sham Trusts In Snook v London and West Riding Investments Ltd [1967] 2 QB 786, 802, Lord Diplock defined sham as, acts done or documents executed by the parties to the sham which are intended by them to give to third parties or to the court the appearance of creating between the parties legal rights and obligations different from the actual legal rights and obligations (if any) which the parties intend to create. But one thing, I think, is clear in legal principle, morality and the authorities ... that for acts or documents to be a sham with whatever legal consequences follow from this, all the parties thereto must have a common intention that the acts or documents are not ... • 13. Importance Of Good Manners Essay Manners, we hear about then every day, at home, at work, from our parents, and peers but do we really recognize the importance of good manners? Manners are respectful actions that make an ordinary man a gentleman. Good manners and courtesies are one of the most valuable facets of society. They make a man a useful member of the world, making one functional in both their professional life and personal life by helping us to win the favor and confidence of others. In order to have progress in life, good manners are essential. On the other hand, an ill mannered man is generally shunned by everyone and has no chance of success in any walk of life he pursues. In today s society, proper etiquetteand good manners are almost nonexistent in some parts of the country and we have to ask ourselves why this is. Why do people lack the basic etiquette that is essential to living a professional and respectful life? The answer is that people are uneducated on these topics. The fact is most parents don t do a good enough job building good etiquette habits in their children and there is absolutely no requirement for the skills in the school systems. They may be enforced but they are in no form taught in a formal classroom setting. In order to improve our society and educate people of these essential etiquettes we must implement proper etiquette and life skills classes in the youth school systems. Family household dynamics are drastically different in today s society. According to the California ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Social Work Capstone Reflection This capstone course assisted in connecting all the material I have learned thus far in the program as well as helped me to identify what skills and knowledge I need to continue working on. The capstone presentation, as well as class, helped me to practice strength based language and be conscious of how I describe my clients when presenting them to others. It can be a habit to use negative language to describe a problem saturated story and unintentionally describe a patient s story in a way that comes off as stigmatizing. This class helped me become conscious and tactful about how I word sensitive circumstances. It was a great experience to present my patient s case to the class and practice being thoughtful of how I portrayed my patient s presenting problem to the group. A patient frequently comes to a social worker with a variety of problems, and it can be overwhelming trying to determine where to start with the patient. In capstone class, we discussed presenting problems and determining which problem is more appropriate to focus on within the agency setting. In class we were able to practice identifying the presenting problem by using case vignettes as an example. This activity was extremely helpful in learning how to identify a patient s presenting problem and acquiring the skill to determine which problem takes precedence within certain settings. The Wars by Timothy Findley Essay The Inherent Evil of Humankind Joseph Conrad once observed that a belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness. As a result of the violence that is necessary during wartime, soldiers are permitted to engage in savage behavior that is normally forbidden in society. In The Wars by Timothy Findley, however, soldiers act in violent ways even when they are not actively engaged in battle. The inherently savage nature of humankind is evident when Robert Ross kills the German soldier after the gas attack, when Robert is raped in the baths, and when Robert kills Captain Leather. Despite the fact that the German has let the rest of the soldiers escape unharmed, Robert s innate violence triggers the death of an innocent soldier. Thus, Robert s actions reveal the inherent savage nature of humankind. Not only does Robert s killing of the German soldier expose humanity s inherent savagery, but his fellow soldiers brutal rape of Robert also shows the brutal nature of humankind. After his shower, Robert senses a human presence in his cell and he was spun around in the dark so many times he lost all sense of gravity. Then he was lowered onto his back and held there by someone who was lying underneath him. His legs were forced apart so far he thought they were going to be broken. Industrialisation lead to urbanisation and more people flocked from rural areas to towns creating more disease, and by the end of the 1800 s 80% of the population of Britain lived in cities. Steam powered cotton factories supplied half of the world and coal mining, in areas such as Newcastle, expanded to meet the demands of railway construction. Though every human being is unique, there are often family shared traits that stand out from family to family. Family similarities occur because children inherit genes from their parents. Genes are genetic information that contributes to what traits children get, or don t get, from their parents. A child s genetic information is shared through tetrads. Tetrads are homologous pairs that carry genes controlling the same inherited trait. Tetrads are exchanged and distributed to the child during the process of meiosis. Here, the homologous chromosomes are coming closer to form tetrads and are exchanging segments of adjacent non sister chromatids. The chromatids can do this by breaking and reattaching to the other chromatids, this is called crossing over. After this each ending chromosome varied in genetic information. Adolf Hitler And The Holocaust Adolf Hitler, chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and fГјhrer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945, was the mastermind behind both World War II within Europe and the Holocaust. In the Final Solution, concentration and extermination camps were implemented in an attempt to rid of the Jewish population entirely. Such a task, genocide, would not be done easily. By the end of World War II, over six million Jews had been killed. However, not merely Jews were subject to mass murder, but nearly five million non Jewish people. Out of all of these deaths, a range from 1,885,889 to 2,045,215 were in the concentration camp system. Furthermore, approximately one million of these deaths were carried out within the Auschwitz concentration campcomplex. Thus, one in every six Jews killed during the holocaustwas killed at an Auschwitz camp. These extermination camps were the only means by which such a multitude of murder could have been efficiently accomplished. The systematic mechanization of mass murder, using gas chambers and crematoria, made such high death tolls fathomable, making efficient killing easier both physically and psychologically. The concentration camp system was established well before World War II and the Final Solution. The camps had commonly been constructed in desolate places, free from German jurisdiction. Thus, allowing murder in both large and small amounts to be carried out surreptitiously. Some, if not most, of these murders being cursorily reported. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I went to see the movie about Tupac s life, All Eyez on Me , with my friends, which intrigued me to look into him more as an artist and a person. What I found fascinating about Tupac s songs is that how he is taking a stand in social and cultural issues in his lyrics, in contrast to most rap songs nowadays that revolve around money, sex and alcohol. Because of his socially conscious lyrics, Tupac has been called one of the most influential rappers of all time. In class, we looked into different forms of dialects and slangs and discussed how they form one s identity, which I found very interesting. Tupac was a perfect example of this. Therefore, I wanted to create a column in the magazine Rolling Stone, where I discuss the imagery and language Tupac uses to illustrate the problems in the African American communities of the United States. The famous chorus of Changes is a rework of Bruce Hornsby s and the Range s ballad The Way It Is , with the second line Some things ll never change changed to Things ll never be the same , suggesting instead that a change is coming, creating an oxymoron with the previous line That s just the way it is . In the article, Hrusova explains that dance can help develop social skills and improve psychological health in addition to physical health, noting several other authors works on the subject. He shares the results of an experiment that was conducted with non professional dancers of two different genres of dance; street and modern (ten of each) in his article. The purpose of this experiment was to establish the current emotional state and background of the participants before they started dancing and see if possible changes occurred due to the effects of dancing. The dancers were both male and female (six female and four male street dancers, ten female modern dancers) between the ages of 17 and 36, and the only requirement was that the participants of this study attend dance classes at least two times a week. The positive factors that were measured in this experiment were psychological well being and activeness, and negative factors were anxious expectations, fears and sadness. Dancers were given a questionnaire as a pre test and post test before and after every class for a set period of time. The questionnaire consisted of 24 adjectives that described psychological experiences, feelings and emotional states that the dancers ranked on a scale of zero to four (zero meaning they never experienced the feeling at all and four meaning they experienced ... In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm, an allegory based on events that took place during the Russian Revolution pigs overrule the farm. In the novel the animals take over Manor Farm from their past leader and establishes a new community. Napoleon, the leader of the farm, and Squealer the mastermind behind persuading the animals, manipulate the animals into trusting their leader completely. Napoleon and Squealer effectively use propaganda to achieve domination on Animal Farm. One type of propaganda that Napoleon and Squealer use effectively to control the animals is cult of personality. Cult of personality is usually used to praise the leader. A few days after the execution of the animals, Napoleon decides to get rid of Beasts of England. He says that there was no reason for it, now that the rebellion was over. The general feeling of the farm was well expressed in a poem entitled comrade Napoleon, which was composed by Minimus (Orwell 94). • 39. Homo Sapiens In Search For Fire Lets take it back 80,000 years, to when fire was first discovered. The film Quest For Fire was set in Paleolithic Europe, and provides an accurate idea of the behaviour and life of the early human species. By watching the film, it is clear to see that some tribes/groups are very different from others, such as the homo erectusand the homo sapiens. The homo sapien specimen was the precursor of modern humans, and was therefore capable of doing a lot more than the homo erectus could. The homo erectus group also appeared to have a hierarchical system, where some members were ranked higher or lower than each other, according to status/authority. When it comes to the homo erectus group, they tend to live in a more equal society. For instance, in the movie, the homo sapien women actually have choice in what they do. While the homo erectus men would just rape women, going against the women s desires, the homo sapiens had a sense of intimacy. Homo sapiens often used sex as a way to bond with their partner, and in most cases, it actually meant something. In the movie, it appears that both partners provided consent when two homo sapiens were having sex, which was not the case for the homo erectus members. Another thing that differentiates the homo sapiens and the homo erectus is that the homo erectus community in the movie had a lot of taboos, while the homo sapiens had less of a tendency to instigate conflict. In the homo erectus community there were many social prohibitions, and several actions that were declared as sacred and forbidden. If you were to break one of these taboos, you would most likely be looked down upon, and be considered abhorrent to others. • 40. The Advantages of an Automated System The likely main advantage of such an automated system is the fact that it is a much faster system than the general approach to recruitment and selection. The fact that the system is automated would mean that the entire process is less complicated and time is saved. The business benefits from the fact that the people who are hired can immediately start work and be included in the business process. Another great advantage is the cost advantage. The fact that this system is automated likely means a one time payment to the company or software producer who has created the system in the first place, plus potential additional periodical costs related to the system s maintenance. However, for automated system, it is likely that the human resource and personnel costs will significantly decrease. The automated system requires fewer people to work it, potentially only one or two. The non automated system involves individuals at every stage of the process, including the recruitment and selection phases. The cost advantage is also complemented by the fact that the automated system would be implemented for individuals that are hired in auxiliary positions, such as at the cafeteria, rather than in those related with the core activities of the company. This would tend to show that the cost reduction process would be applied selectively to a particular category of employees that generate a lower level of revenues for the organization. Homeostasis In The Human Body Homeostasis is a healthy state that is maintained by the constant adjustment of biochemical and physiological pathways in the human body where a human is able to maintain stability, equilibrium and consistency needed to carry out its normal reactions. An example of homeostasis in humans is the maintenance of blood glucose levels which are maintained through the endocrine and nervous systems. Glucose is a monosaccharide sugar and is the only sugar found in the blood as fructose and galactose are absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and is converted into glucose in the liver. Glucose is used by virtually all cells, including neurons (nerve cells) for cellular respiration. This sugar needs to be present in the blood at all times to fuel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When blood glucose levels rise, there is an increase in soluble glucose molecules in the blood and is detected by the beta cells of the pancreas in the islets of Langerhans of the endocrine tissue. Beta cells respond to hyperglycaemic stimuli by producing a hormone called insulin which stimulates cells, especially adipose and muscle cells, to take up soluble glucose molecules from the blood. Insulin is a short protein consisting of a string of amino acids with a particular shape. Insulin responds to this hyperglycaemic change by converting individual glucose molecules to form polysaccharide molecules called glycogen, which is stored in the liver and muscles and triggering glucose transporter molecules to gate glucose into the cell.[1] This process is called glycogenesis. Beta cells are the only cells in the body that produce insulin that enters the bloodstream straight away. The stored insoluble glycogen causes the amount of glucose present in the bloodstream to decrease and therefore insulin has a hypoglycaemic effect on the body. The mitochondria of cells require glucose to drive cellular processes such as muscle movement, and the glucose metabolized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of his arguments allegedly concludes that humans cannot affect the future. Though many find comfort in this conclusion many find it depressing that they are powerless to create a good future. Aristotle s argument uses a single linear timeline to show the validity of his claims. However, the predeterminist idea that everything that happens in the future is one single timeline rather than countless branches stretched out across time and the reality that is experienced is the branch that is actualized. In his argument, Aristotle claims that there are only two possible outcomes for any prediction, either it is true, or it is false. If the prediction is true, then it was always true that the prediction was going to be true, and therefore the prediction could never have been false. Because the prediction could never have been false then the prediction is a necessary truth. This was smart of Aristotle because, by definition, a necessary truth can never be false. Because the prediction, as a necessary truth, cannot be made to be false. Therefore, all predictions that are true cannot be changed to be false. Since the 1960 s, factory farming has accounted for over 99% of the meat sold in the United States (Zacharias, 2011). The move towards large, factory farms saves meat industry millions of dollars a day. These farms pose a huge risk to public health and environmental safety. Currently, four major companies produce 85% of all the beef in the United States (Bernice, 2014). It is important to examine how these companies are treating the animals we will ultimately consume.
