4. PERSONAL PROTECT EQUIPMENT
 Respirator or facemask-A device designed to protect the wearer from inhaling hazardous
atmospheres like fume,gases,vapours,dust,airborne microbes.-Can be also made at home
 Medical Gloves are disposable gloves used during medical procedures which help to prevent the
cross-contamination between caregivers and patient.
 Self-quarantine-Avoid handshaking,large gathering & wash hands several times a day.

5. CAUSES
 Transmission-spread between people during close contact,small droplets
produced during sneezing,coughing or talking.
 This is transmitted through air-droplets often fall on the ground or the skin of the
person who is in close contact from the infected one.
 People may also be infected from touching the infected surface to their
face-virus can survive on the surface for 72 hours.
 Virus can be spread within 3 to 6 feet & uncovered coughing can also
travel up to 15-20 ft.

6. SYMPTOMS

 Respiratory sputum production(phlegm-mucus[sticky substance] produced by respiratory system from nasal passage
 Loss of the sense of smell
 Shortness of breath
 Muscle and joint pain(persistent chest pain and pressure)

 Haemoptysis(bleeding in airway from trachea,larynx,bronchi,lungs.
 Infections like pneumonia,brochititis,dirrahea,cynosis(blue-purpulish skin due to low oxygen saturation) & lung cancer

7. Covid-19 Prevention
• Maintain over all good personal hygiene, washing hands(40 sec), avoiding
touching the eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands, and coughing or
sneezing into a tissue and putting the tissue directly into a waste container.
• Don’t spit in public places
• Social distancing-reducing the number of times people come into close contact
with each other. Keeping a distance of six feet or two meters from others and
avoiding gathering together in large groups.
• Total number of sick people should be quarantined _slow down the rate of which
new people get sick. And increase the healthcare capacity.

8. INDIA TO SURVIVE FROM COVID-19
 Lockdown of 1 month & 10 days –nearly all factories & services were suspended but the grocery
stores were open and their supply also
 Janata curfew(for 14 hours) scheduled on 21 March,2020 prior to the lockdown. At 5 p.m. that day, all
citizens were asked to stand in their doorways, balconies or windows, and clap their hands or ring
their bells in appreciation for the professionals delivering these essential services.
 On 5 April, citizens all over India cheered and showed solidarity with the health workers, police, and
all those fighting the disease by switching off the electric lights at home from 9:00 p.m. to 9:09 p.m.for
9 minutes and lighting diya, candle; and flashing torchlight and mobile flashlight.
 On 16 April, lockdown areas were classified as "red zone", indicating the presence of infection
hotspots, "orange zone" indicating some infection, and "green zone" with no infections
 App launched by Indian Government known as Arogya Setu which helps user to prevent from virus &
indicates him if any COVID-19 patient is near him.
 Environmental impact-Rivers have become cleaner as industries are shut due to the lockdown.
 Financial supports by Government and some negative impacts.
 The PM has addressed the Nation on the need for preventive measures and has also held meeting with
all the Chief Ministers through video conference.
