2. Introduction
• Corona is a large group of viruses that can
infect both humans and animals with cold
related diseases.
• Various types of corona viruses alpha Cov
(229E, NL63) and beta Cov (OC43, HKU1)
• The most important and dangerous are MERS-
CoV, SARS-CoV and 2019 Novel corona virus
( 2019 n-CoV)

3. • Sometimes Corona Virus that infect animals
may evolve and cause disease in human
beings and form a new virus i.e MERS, SARS
and 2019 n-CoV

4. • MERS-CoV(Middle East Respiratory
Syndrome) was reported first in 2012 in
Saudi Arabia
• SARS-CoV(Sever acute respiratory syndrome)
was first recognised in china in november
2002
• 2019-nCoV(Novel Corona Virus) was
reported on 9 January 2020 by Chinese
authorities. WHO reported

5. Transmission
• Direct Contact
• Aerosols

6. Signs and Symptoms
• Fever
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Headache
• Chest heaviness
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting

8. • In severe cases it can cause pnemonia, Severe
acute respiratory distress, Kidney failure and
even death

9. Diagnosis
• ELISA
• PCR
• Chest X-ray
• CT Chest

10. Treatment
• There is no treatment until now
• Isolation of the patient
• Symptomatic treatment
• Get plenty of rest
• Drink fluids

11. Prevention
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm
water
• Keep your hands away from nose, eyes and
mouth
• Avoid contact with people who are infected
• Wear Gloves and Masks
• Screening
• Avoid unprotected contact with farm and wild
animals
