There are eight core engineering technologies that are building blocks of technological systems: mechanical, structural, electrical, electronic, fluid, optical, thermal, and biotechnology. These core technologies involve putting together parts to transmit motion, create structures, produce and control energy, use fluids and light, exchange heat, and adapt organisms. Examples of applications for each technology are provided.
