This document discusses convenience sampling, which is a type of non-probability sampling where samples are gathered from populations based on their accessibility and availability. Convenience sampling does not give all individuals in the population an equal chance of being selected. It is a simple, low-cost method where the first available subjects can be used without additional screening. While it is easy to implement, convenience samples can be biased and not generalizable to the overall population due to the non-random selection process.

* Non-probability sampling is a sampling
technique where the samples are gathered
in a process that does not all the
individuals in the population equal
chances of being selected.
* In the absence of any idea of
probability the method of sampling is
known as Non-Probability Sampling.

* Convenience sampling technique may
prove to be effective during exploration
stage of the research area, and when
conducting pilot data collection in order to
identify and address shortcomings
associated with questionnaire design.

* A Convenience sample is one of the main types
of non-probability sampling methods .
*A Convenience sample is made up of people who
are easy to reach or who are conveniently available
to participate in study.
* Convenience Sampling is a type of sampling
where the first available primary data source will be
used for the research without additional
requirements.
* Convenience Sampling method can be applied
by stopping random people on the street and asking
questionnare questions.

* This is also known as “accidental “ or “haphazard”
sampling.
* Sample is selected according to the convenience of
the sample.
* No pre-planning is necessary for the selection of
items.
* The convenience may be in respect of availability of
source list,accessibility of the units, etc. .

* Simplicity of sampling and ease of research.
* Helpful for pilot studies and for hypothesis generation.
* Data collection can be facilitated in short duration of time .
*Cost effectiveness.
*Cheapest to implement that alternative sampling methods.
* Convenience sampling is very easy to carry out with few rules governing how the
sample should be collected.
* The convenience sampling may help you gathering useful data and information
that would not have been possible using probability sampling technique which
requires more formal access to lists of populations.

* Highly vulnerable to selection bias
* Generalisability unclear
* High level of sampling error
* Convenience sampling , which is regarded as the
weakest of all sampling procedures.
* It might be biased by volunteers.
* Because of the short deadline for completing the
study , convenience sampling is used and therefore
the study may not be sufficiently representative of the
entire population.
