National policies and practices on nursing services in Nepal are guided by health service acts and regulations. The quality of nursing professionals is monitored by the Nepal Nursing Council. Nursing services are an integrated part of the overall health services. The Nepal Nursing Council Act and Health Service Regulation establish rules for nursing education, registration, practice, and different nursing service positions. The national health budget prioritizes free health services, maternal and child health, access for poor and marginalized groups, senior citizens, and treatment programs. Nursing colleges are administratively controlled by entities like the Ministry of Health and Population but academically controlled by universities and the Nursing Council. Universities and governing bodies have responsibilities related to nursing college administration, staffing, facilities, budgets,

• Total budget: 2451 billion (24 Arab, 51 cros) NRS
which counts 7.25% of total National budget;
• Health is taken as basic fundamental rights;
• Priority is given on: Free health services, Maternal
and child health promotion, health services access to
the most poor and marginalized groups, Care of the
senior citizens, Safe delivery program, and Uterus
prolapse treatment.
