The Glass Ceiling In The Workplace
Over the past few years, the percentage of women in lower managerial positions has increased
tremendously while the number of women who reach the top is still just a small proportion. They are
held back by an invisible barrier that is named the glass ceiling (Dreher, 2003).
The glass ceiling is a concept that is repeatedly used in studies, analyzing inequalities between men
and women in the workplace (Baxter Wright, 2000). The phenomenon glass ceiling has been used
universally in the media as well as in official government reports (US Department of Labor, 1991; A
fact finding report of the Federal glass ceiling commission, 1995) and academic publications.
The federal Glass Ceiling Commission was founded in 1991 with its mandate to identify certain
barriers that have blocked the promotion of minorities and women. They refer to the glass ceiling as

Nowadays people refer to the glass ceiling when describing a situation where women and minorities
are held back from advancing to a certain level (Jackson, 2001).
Although women can get access to the first levels of managerial hierarchies, at some point they will
hit an invisible barrier that blocks them of any further upward movement. As one of the early writers,
who used the metaphor, Hymowitz and Schellhardt (1986) describes the glass ceiling as an obstacle in
organizational hierarchies that is situated just below the top management level (Dreher, 2003).
The definition of the concept glass ceiling has changed over time. Taken literally, the metaphor of the
glass ceiling implies the existence of an impermeable barrier that blocks the vertical mobility, below
this barrier women and minorities, are able to get hired by male dominated organizations, and can get
promoted, above this barrier they are not. (Baxter Wright, 2000). Sometimes they are considered to be
promoted to a higher position, but rarely reach that position (Maume,

A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats
A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats
William Blake, John Keats and William Wordsworth all believe in the depth of the world and the
possibilities of the human heart. However, each poet looks towards different periods in time to capture
meaning in life. Blake looks towards the future for his inspiration, Keats towards the present and
Wordsworth towards the past. Regardless of where each poet looks for their inspiration they are all
looking for the same thing; timeless innocence. Each poet sought to transcend time by creating works
that dealt with life, death, hope and imagination and to discover some kind of deep truth or meaning in
existence. Life and death is an issue that we will all have to deal with at some point in our life ... Show

Technological advancement and social progress were steps backwards for Wordsworth and thus he
looked to the past for his inspiration.
John Keats did not have the luxury time that Wordsworth had to look to the past and reminisce about
things that were because he knew he did not have long to live. Even from a young age Keats felt his
life would be a short one and he so he applied himself to his art with a desperate urgency . Keats died
at twenty six years old and managed to leave behind some of the greatest poetry ever written. He didn
t bother to look toward the future because he knew that he wouldn t live to see it and he didn t look to
the past because he decided that it was more important to live in the moment.
Keats was very aware of his own mortality and his poetry reflected the intensity and the passion of a
man who didn t have very long to live. His poetry remains some of the densest prose ever penned
because, like his brief existence, he had to condense so much life into so little space. The thought of
impending death would be enough to make anyone fall into hopeless despair but Keats s incredible
talents and commitment to live in the moment perhaps allowed him to three lifetimes. The Chimney
Sweeper is a quintessential Blake poem as it embodies his belief in looking towards the future for
hope and comfort. Additionally, the poem is a perfect example of a child s movement from innocence

Essay Slough by Sir John Betjeman
Sir John Betjeman s poem, Slough, opens with a wonderful, dramatic stanza. There is huge tension
between the ideas of cows grazing and the idea of death. Even in the opening line there is conflict
friendly bombs is a contradiction in terms, as bombs are almost never thought of as friendly, and
Betjeman s use of this defines what a bad place. Another tool Betjeman employs is rhythm; the stanza
is at a steady, predefined pace until the last line where the rhythm is broken with the word Death ,
which gives a powerful image of Slough.
In the second stanza, Betjeman cleverly compares people s minds and breath to tinned products,
giving everything a feeling of sanitised dullness, without fresh air. He also uses the form here, listing

It also has an elegant form.
In the fourth stanza, Betjeman repeats always in the second line which implies the fact that it is this
man s way of life. He also uses this man with double chin as a way of expressing all the people who
have this attitude and life, and the image of washing with women s tears is extremely effective.
Every line in the next stanza opens with And , which makes it seem rather like a list, a list of the poet s
demands. Indeed the entire stanza is simply stating things which he demands be done to this man.
The poem changes tack after this: it speaks of sparing clerks. There is tension simply in using the
description bald young . The rhythm again breaks at the harsh phrase They ve tasted Hell .
The next two stanzas continue the description of these bald young clerks . There is a comparison
between birdsong and the radio , two things which would generally be contrasted. In the last two lines
Betjeman introduces a wonderful tranquil image of looking up and seeing the stars, but then dispels it
with the disgusting line But belch instead .
The ninth stanza is a bit like a throwback to the canned breath it speaks of chemicals and synthetic
things. It discusses peroxide hair and painting nails, poking fun at them.
The final stanza concludes the poem. The opening line is the same as the opening line of the first verse
and it reminds us of the aims of this whole poem and of the subject, Slough. It is aiming

The Actions Of Rosa Parks And The Civil Rights Movement
December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks, a forty year old seamstress, got arrested for
refusing to vacate her seat and move to the rear end of the bus for a white passenger. Rosa Parks help
start the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. This incident organized a bus boycott that began
on behave of the believe of Rosa Parks violating the segregation laws. According toTrueman, C N.
Montgomery Bus Boycott. History Learning Site, 27 Mar. 2015 The boycott lasted more than a year.
The U.S Supreme Court ruled that the segregation was unconstitutional. Rosa Parks was nationally
recognized as a symbol of dignity and strength in the struggle to end entrenched racial segregation
within the United States. This sparked the American Civil Rights Movement of the 20th century, and
to honor her, she was voted by Time magazine as one of the top 100 most influential people of the
20th century (1998). They also built a museum and a library in honor of Rosa Parks, in Montgomery,
Alabama. I believe this was a very important event in the history of African Americans because for
once they were given the chance to retaliate from the outrageous laws against them.As the news of the
Montgomery boycott began to rapidly spread African American leaders throughout the city began
lending their support.

Catilina Island Trip
Today was the last day of my field trip to Catilina island. I was going kayaking that day. I was on a
rocky beach. I could here the waves crushing agisnt the rocks as we where getting ready to go out to
sea on the kayaks. The sea breeze stung my face when I looked into it. We had to put on water shoes
to keep our feet from getting cuts on the rocks. The shoes did not do a very good job of keeping our
feet from hurting, altho they did stop us from getting cuts. The hardest part was getting the kayaks to
the shore. They were about 48 to 58 feet from the shore. It was hard because we could not drag the
kayaks to the shore. After we got the kayaks to shore we sat in our kayaks ready to go out to sea. This

the ore brought up water onto the kayak. People were also throwing seaweed at us. The seaweed that
was not from there felt like an unsticky spiderweb but more durable. The seaweed that was from the
island was a teardrop shape with a vertical oval alomost at the bottom. It felt better than the other

We Shall Fight On The Beaches
In Winston Churchill s speech, We Shall Fight On the Beaches he presents a powerful call to action
directly to the British House of Commons in the year of 1940 on the forth of June. Winston uses the
techniques of figurative language to capture his audience s attention in a way they could understand
the importance of his message, without disregarding his high level of intellect. In order for one to truly
understand Churchill s message one must understand the difficult task he was coined with prior to
delivering this powerful message. Through the use of logos Winston provides us with the necessary
background information to inform the listeners that prior to delivering the speech the British military
suffered a great loss in both France and Belgium. In great detail he speaks on the events that have
occurred leading up to him speaking, giving both us now and the then listener a better understanding
of what he stands for and is fighting for. His use of logos makes the speech more reliable and comforts
the audience because it informs them that Churchill knows what he is talking about. In his speech he
announced to the public that he knew it was going to be hard to announce and speak on the greatest
military disaster in the history of Britain. His ability to be sensitive and honest in his challenges
creates a powerful bond between his message and the audience. His use of rhetoric helped bring about
a final victory after all the disasters caused by the Nazis. Churchill knew

The Model-Minority Stereotypes
My friend is a Chinese Indonesian, and the first word or image that came to her mind when the word
minority was introduced, is culture. Being a Chinese that lives in Indonesia, she has the privileges of
learning both cultures. Both Indonesian and Chinese cultures, unfortunately, are very conservative,
which is why she said she had hard times accepting the freedom in the White culture. She did not see
her race as a minority, because she said, Asian kids are the smartest, it is just our accent that makes us
look dumb. She also did not receive any racial discrimination before. She supported immigration, and
her first image regarding immigration is of her grandparents as an immigrant because they move from

Lee s reading on Behind the Model Minority Stereotypes: Voices of High and Low Achieving Asian
American Students, I learned that that people s identity has a lot to do with how they perceive
minority and immigration. There are many things that Lee described that I find very accurate to the
answers of my interviewees. Lee mentioned that Asian American students are viewed as a model
minority, and there is this model minority stereotype that causes many teachers to expect greater
things from their Asian students. However, I discovered something interesting, that two of my Asian
interviewees actually believed in the stereotype, and thought of themselves as academically superior.
This is very true for my Asian American friend who said that she felt extremely proud to have the
American English accent and White culture, and at the same time having the intelligence of the Asian
brain. This can be related to the reading when one of the Korean students responded, We are smarter. I
mean, I don t think it s a stereotype look at our report cards. We are better, and we have to show it
(417). However, this is different with my peer s interview on his Asian friend who hates Math and
denies the stereotypes. The Chinese Indonesian Asian whom I interviewed also felt intelligent
compared to other races, but she admitted that her accent prevents her from speaking her thoughts.
This is similar to Thai s case where he wanted to be a lawyer, but chose engineering because of her
accent. In addition, my Chinese Indonesian interview can support Ogbu s argument, that is also
present in Lee s reading, that voluntary minorities who usually migrate because of better education
and opportunities, tends to do better academically (414). However, this should not be applied to all
Asian voluntary minorities, as generalization should not be made. In addition, Lee also mentioned
about Ogbu s

The History of the First Emperor of China
On March 29, 1974, a couple of workers were digging a water well on the east side of Mount Li
outside of the city of Xi an. The workers uncovered a single terracotta figure and called the
government authorities who investigated the matter. Soon, government archeologists were sent to the
site. The unearthed great clay army that has baffled modern day craftsmen, intrigued archeologists,
and amazed the general public. Before this discovery, no one knew about the First Emperor of China.
Forty years later, we know a good deal about his legacy. Ying Zheng was born in 259 BCE to the King
of Qin and his concubine. In 246 BCE, he took the throne at only thirteen. By the time he thirty eight,
he had unified the seven warring states involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lack of historical records makes some historians question the association between the First Emperor
and the construction of the wall. What is certain, however, is that if the First Emperor gave the orders
to build the Great Wall, it was not built as we know it today. The walls would have been made of
stones or earth, depending on what was more readily available. The philosophies of the time included
Confucianism and Legalism, as simplified by modern scholar Arthur Waley in his book, Three Ways
of Thought in Ancient China. Confucianism was considered bad and impractical, based on the idea
that it was ruler based and hind sighted. The Legalists were considered good and practical because the
administrations they set up were run by qualified men, used agriculture to stimulate the economy, and
created clear laws. In fact, the First Emperor ordered the burning of several Confucius texts part of the
Five Classics including the Book of Poetry and the Book of Documents. This was knows as the
Burning of the Books. This burning also included other literature such as poetry, historical documents,
and philosophical texts. This was done because the emperor felt threatened by those below him with
something critical to say. [All] persons in the empire daring to store [these books] should go to the
administrative and military governors so that these books may be indiscriminately burned. Those who

The Monument Of The Statue Of Liberty
Entry 1. The Statue of Liberty
In 1865 when the American Civil War was close to the end, a French historian Edouard de Laboulaye
suggested that France should create and give to the United States a statue that would symbolize the
nation s success in building a viable democracy. However, because of the lock of money, the work on
the statue didn t start until the end of 1875. The creator of the statue is the French sculptor Frederic
Auguste Bartholdi who created the statue out of sheets of hammered copper and Alexandre Gustave
Eiffel, the creator of Eiffel Tower created the statue s steel frame. The female form represented by the

and established in Pennsylvania and this is when Andrew Carnegie formal education ended because
his family had no money for education. He then got his first job as a bobbin boy at a cotton factory,

where he made got money and that s when he was able to make some investments in coal, iron and oil

continued his ascent in the business world. But because the railroad industry experienced a rapid
growth during that time in the United Stated, Carnegie made an investment in the railroad business
and by the age of 30th he was the richest person. In the early 1870s, he started working in the steel

Swot Analysis Of Bean s New Multi Purpose Camping Unit Essay
With the introduction of a new product comes the potential for risk. Great care and thoroughness
should be taken to identify as many potential risks as imaginable since although it is not always
possible to control risk factors it is entirely possible to mitigate potential ill effects if a solid strategy is
in place. Some risk factors identified may never actually be realized, but it is well worth having a
contingency plan in place rather than running the risk of causing detriment to the financial well being
of the business. Several possible risks have been identified in association with the launch of L.L. Bean
s new multi purpose camping unit, the first being the risk of losing business to competitors with
similar products. The mitigation plan to address this risk comes from the very core of L.L. Bean s
business. L.L. Bean will differentiate itself from its competitors by offering a unique product of
superior quality, shipped for free, and backed by their unsurpassed customer service and 100%
satisfaction guarantee. This new product is multifunctional, and can take the place of several other
items. There is nothing quite like it on the market. L.L. Bean will present a product of value to the
customer, lessening the risk of competitors taking business away. A second potential risk lies in
marketing to the proper audience and reaching their target. The mitigation plan to address this risk
involves making use of L.L. Bean s already established clientele. The new product

The Logistics Of A Supply Chain
The logistics of a supply chain can be very difficult to understand. There are many different parts
involved and if one does not function correctly the others will soon follow. From manufacturing to
transportation there is always something happening within the supply chain. Every section of the
supply chain is scrutinized and checked to see if the process is going as smoothly as possible.
Knowing different styles of research can help in diagnosing problems from within the supply chain.
Two of these methods are quantitative research and qualitative research. Two methods that are used to
research and calculate an issue would be the quantitative method and the qualitative method. Each
method has its own style. Quantitative research deals with numbers, has data that can be measured
such as length, speed, time or cost (Roberts, 2012). Qualitative research deals with descriptions and
data that cannot be measured (Roberts, 2012). These methods will both help to diagnose any issues
that could arise within the supply chain from the manufacturer all the way to the customer s hands.
Having a customer do a survey is a qualitative research object. This can then be formulated with other
customers and figure out if it is necessary to make more product to have on hand or to back off and
stop production on the product. If a researcher is going through online reviews and is counting how
many stars a product received through a website, they would be using quantitative research. This is

Reflection Paper On Fitness
Welcome to Fitness In my life so far, there have been very few instances where I honestly thought
about giving up. I like to believe I am a very strong willed and sometimes stubborn person. I also
believe everyone has moments where they reach their limit and must decide whether or not to raise the
bar. My first day of track practice was one of those moments. I don t believe I fully understood what I
was getting myself into that day. I walked through the gym door nervous and filled with a mixture of
anxiety and excitement. The first thing I noticed was how many people there were. The entire gym
had people circling the perimeter. I mean it was insane. It felt like everyone I had ever known to be in
sports was there. People I had never even said a word to had managed find to their way to the gym. I
was out of my league and out of my mind. I couldn t do this. I m going to make a fool of myself.
Everyone here is conditioned for this and they ve done this before. They know what is going to
happen. I was standing there, looking around like an idiot. The first person I recognize and actually
talk to is Franky. I attempt to casually sneak my way over to him. I feel like a fish out of water. I
decide that if I ever get confused as to what to do I must have a plan. Ask Franky. That was the best I
could come up with. The warm ups and stretching weren t so bad. I was left out of breath from the
quicker ones, but I felt I would recover in time for the real workout. When coach shouted

Divided People Ireland
The Divided People of Ireland Ireland is a country with two very different peoples living there,
Nationalists (or Catholics) and Unionists (or Protestants). There are many differences between the
beliefs of the Nationalists and the Unionists. The main one being that Nationalists want a united
Ireland and see themselves as Irish whereas Unionists want to be part of Britain and see themselves as
British. Before partition this caused many problems because Nationalists resented being ruled from
London, where the politicians there probably had never even been to Ireland and so, in their opinion
could not know what would be best for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gives them prejudiced views and means they judge each other on their religion. This comes from
generations of dislike which over the years has been distorted into hate. Protestants believe that Rome,
the Pope and the whole of the Catholic Church have a huge say in the running of Eire. Catholics
however deny this and say that although many Catholics will live their life around the Church and the
beliefs of the Catholic Church, the British government allow the Church of England a much greater
say in the running of the country.
Stemming from this lack of knowledge about each other s religion is the problem that Protestants
believe Catholics have no personal freedom. The Catholic Church does not allow divorce or abortion
as they believe marriage is sacred; as is life, so to kill a child or end a marriage is to go against God.
As most Catholics want to lead good lives and follow the teachings of the Bible and religious leaders,
then they agree that divorce and abortion are wrong and so, the fact that the Irish government says
abortion is illegal does not bother them. Protestants living in Ireland though see this as an
infringement upon their freedom and freewill.
Throughout Northern Ireland there are symbols of different loyalties, on one wall will be painted a
mural in memorial of William of Orange and his victory at the Battle of the Boyne over the

The Life of Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis
Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis was an inspirational role model for women of her time. She
was always seen as a fashionable classy lady, dressed in designer clothing and pearl jewelry. Her
elegant and simple style made her a beautiful lady. But when the time came, Jackie was facing serious
things in her life: she had a lot of schooling ahead, after which she would become the wife of the
president, and later face a tragic end as the First Lady. But despite all the chaos, she was able to handle
things on her own. All images of Jackie Kennedy, being a well educated First Lady, a fashion icon,
and later a surviving widow, showed other women what it meant to be a strong individual in the
1950s. People today still look up to her, not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jackie Kennedy attended Vassar College and the Sorbonne in Paris for school and later on graduated
from George Washington University with a bachelor of arts in French Literature. At an early age,
Jackie wrote essays and poems which were sometimes published in local newspapers. In 1951, she
submitted an entry to Vogue magazines and won the contest. After college, Jackie worked for the
Washington Times Herald as an Inquiring Camera Girl. Her job was to both photograph and interview
local citizens with one question every day. She was a well educated woman with lots of knowledge
and was a good model for other women to show they could be whatever they wanted to be. They didn

Jackie showed a good example of an educated woman. Jackie Kennedy s life as the First Lady came to

while riding in Texas. Being the one right by his side, Jackie watched as her husband died in her arms.

losing her husband, Jackie was determined to lead her own life. After all, she was an educated woman

Technology Addiction In Frankenstein
Smartphones. Televisions. Computers. In this time period when technology has become prevalent, it is
almost impossible for someone to not have constant contact with such gadgets on an everyday basis.
As technology becomes more advanced, human beings are further entrenched in this field of
innovation. In fact, some have claimed that their dependence on technology is so extreme that instead
of using other means, they strive to eliminate its negative effects through more innovation (Dreyfuss).
Such overdependence can be considered as technology addiction. One of the most prominent changes
that sparked this addiction is the Industrial Revolution, a boom in technological progress. During the
Industrial Revolution, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They saw improvements in terms of transportation, communication, and banking ( Industrial
Revolution ). Little did they know that they would soon be facing miserable lives. As scientists sole
goal during the Industrial Revolution was to innovate, they became too fixated on their passion and
were ignorant of the consequences of their inventions. With the rapid increase in the number of
factories and machinery, pollution and grim working conditions quickly ensued. Without realizing
how severe the negative implications of technology could be, society was not able to keep pace with
the immense amount of pollution and unsanitary living conditions ( Industrial Revolution ). In Shelley
s novel, Victor Frankenstein, the fanatical natural philosopher, represents the scientists collective
perspective while his creation embodies the very ideal of technology. As Victor becomes extremely
obsessed with finding the origin of life , he does not care about any other elements around him,
including his friends and his environment. On the other hand, his creation, though a naturally gentle
being, becomes destructive as he is disdained by humanity for his monstrous appearance (Shelley).
These two characters parallel the trend of Industrial Revolution in terms of how technology
developed. While the role of technology was to make peoples lives easier, it gradually became an
existence similar to Victor s creation, which turned out to be

An Incident At Johnny A s Third Rail Pub
This claim arises out of a lawsuit filed in Kane County, Illinois involving an incident at Johnny A s
Third Rail Pub, a local pub owned by the Insured, Beslidheje, Inc. Mr. Tefik Ashiku owns and
operates the Insured corporate entity. The pub operates out of a building owned by the co defendant,

claiming that the stairway had insufficient or inoperative lighting at the time she fell.
We have had further discussions with Mr. Ashiku, Mr. Zubairi, and Ms. Kristen Finkensher, the

in our prior report. In short, on the night of the incident, the City of South Elgin was hosting its annual

which illuminated the surrounding buildings, including the pub. Plaintiff came into the pub, ordered

Youth Hunting
When i was 13 i shot my first deer and i was really nervous about it but i was also happy because i
thought i would get one and i did so it was about an hour later at prime time i big buck came from the
corner of the field and i got my gun ready to shot and my dad said { what are you doing} i said {buck
in the corner of the field} then he got closer but we never saw this one on the camera so when he
stopped i shot and he ran then dropped. Some people think that youth hunt should not hunt because
they re too little but hunter safety makes it more safe. There are hunters all around the world that help
keep the population down. Some hunters use the meat they collected to feed their family. Hunters hunt

Diction Used By Sharon Olds
How does the author use simple language to display a deeper meaning? The diction used by Sharon
Olds and Sara Teasdale illustrates a mood of judgment. They do this by using simple sentences about
how appearances could be deceiving. Olds using the skin color as a way to convey a mood of
judgment. Teasdale uses the concept of having a mask or second personality as judgment. Sharon Olds
describes a mood of judgment through a scene on a subway car between a white women and a black
man. When Olds writes His feet are huge, in black sneakers . The reader can comprehend that the
speaker might feel intimidated by the guy. Then she describes the pattern of them to a set of scars.
Olds could be displaying a deeper meaning of that he suffered for these

They Say I Say Analysis
My favorite quote from They Say/I Say belonged to the Agree But with a Difference section: In a
culture like America s that prizes originality, independence, and competitive individualism, writers
sometimes don t like to admit that anyone else has made the same point, seemingly beating them to
the punch. In our view, however, as long as you can support a view taken by someone else without
merely restating what he or she has said, there is no reason to worry about being original. I
purposefully chose this quote because I believe that I can share some significant knowledge from my
field, and support this statement. Research interested in social psychology showed that since people
want to be more original, they tend to highlight their

one doesn t know is what really happens behind the scenes of a model s life, the struggles they have to

Operation Enduring Freedom
While this story wasn t a vacation; it was a six month experience. Living and interacting, and
understanding the culture of a foreign country is a task as most people who travel often can attest to.
To realize that Afghanistan wasn t always in the condition as it is in modern times, it was important to
me in realizing that Afghanistan was a much different place prior to the conflicts taking hold during
the 1970s and beyond. My unit was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation
Enduring Freedom(OEF) at the beginning of 2010. Most people assume that military units
immediately deploy to these countries. However, that is not the procedure at all and a lot of
preparation is required. There is training that needs to be conducted, ... Show more content on

The Importance Of Collectivism In Japanese Culture
Collectivism also affects how the Japanese make decisions within their companies. Unlike their
counterparts in Western business organizations, Japanese executives and managers are not real
independent decision makers (Samovar 268). While Western businesses usually adopt a top to bottom
approach to decision making, Japanese businesses operate under a more democratic approach.
Japanese CEOs rarely make decisions on their own for fear of backlash from the overall group.
Rather, they adopt what is called a ringi style of decision making that promotes harmony, cooperation,
and consensus within the organization (Samovar 267). Before any major decisions are made, the CEO
confirms that all members of the group have reached an agreement. In The Silent Language, Edward
Hall claims that what people do is frequently more important then what they say (Hall Silent
Language 2). Furthermore, non verbal communication research shows that over 70% of interpersonal
interaction happens non verbally (LaCour 66). Words convey what a person wants you to think, but a
person s actions express what they are actually feeling. Thus, it should come as no surprise that
perhaps the most important aspect of effective communication within Japanese culture is non verbal
communication. Within the theme of non verbal communication in Japan comes the subject of high
contextuality. While Americans emphasize directness and clarity in communication, the Japanese
typically rely on communicating with vague

Greek Theatre Development
In the 6th century BCE, a new form of recreation and entertainment was taking place. A new artform
would revolutionize civilization in ancient Greece, and subsequently, the rest of the world. With this
new artform came many inventions and developments that have surpassed centuries and influenced
future creativity. With these developments came the theatre of ancient Greece.
While some sources claim that Greek theatre began around the 6th century, other sources claim that
the origins are vague and subject to debate. There is, however, evidence suggesting that the origins of
Greek theatre can trace back to when Greek farmers would celebrate with feasts, music, and dancing
after a bountiful harvest. Evidence also suggests that Greek theatre also originated as entertainment for
the god Dionysos. There is also not much evidence of how early Greek theatres were built as they
were constantly rebuilt. So far, the only evidence of the ambiance and environment surrounding Greek
theatre is in vase paintings.
Once Greek theater took off, it suddenly became the talk of the town, and by the end of the 6th century
BCE, every city in ancient Greece would hold a theatre, which was usually built along a slope so that
audiences sitting the farthest would be able to see the play take place. These theatrons , though
constantly refurbished, had at least three sections: the orchestra, the skene, and the audience. The
orchestra was where all the acting and performances took place. It was the main

Pros And Cons Of Frederick Winslow Taylor s Principles Of...
When I am appointed as a consultant by the Government to research and suggest improvements for
the organization, I would put forward the following points that are mandatory to be changed and as
mentioned in the question, I shall find and suggest measures to improve the company policy and rules
as it is being criticized for Taylorism , which in it s own way has pros and cons.
Taylorism, which is actually a method adopted and named after the US Industrial Engineer Frederick
Winslow Taylor, who in his 1911 book Principles Of Scientific Management laid down the
fundamental principles of large scale manufacturing through assembly line factories.
Introduced in the early 20th century, Taylorism basically :
(1) has the aim to achieve the best and great result on the job fragmentation upfront by basically to
minimizing the skill requirements and grasping time, (2) it also splits execution of work from the
actual work plan. (3) the it splits direct labor from indirect labor.
(4) it replaces rule of thumb productivity estimating the right/correct/precise measurements,
(5) also, it introduces time and motion study for optimum job performance, cost accounting, tool and
work station design, and
(6) finally it makes it possible to achieve the payment by result method of wage determination.

Taylorism denies the fact that managers can chose from a variety of strategies and in many cases can
be flexible in their approach to the workforce. This methodology will also be changed and an
improvement will be arranged from my end.
Again another problem that exists is Fair s day s pay for a fair day s work: Also the external factors
such as scarcity, product demand and economic conditions within the country, all out of the direct
control of management.
This will be taken care of by the management and no complains of any sort will be provided from

Sea Venture In The Tempest
As described in the Arden edition of The Tempest, despite its beautiful visual wonders, not so much
happens (Vaughan 2) in this relatively short Shakespearean play. However, it had become a symbol of
the English Explorations during Shakespeare s life time a period of geological, governmental, and
artistic discoveries. In this regard, the story of Sea Venture through the Bermuda islands, is very often
told, since it is the inspiration of The Tempest. The story and the play are very closely related that a
significant part of the story made it into the writing of the play. The story becomes a candid example
of England during the Age of Explorations the people wondering about life in their colonies, the
sailors bringing back the shocking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frankly, it is very difficult to see peace and even civilized manners in the English society back then.
People would argue every time, though they survived an enormous accident together; stealing each
others goods were so prevalent; the place where they thought was safely colonized had, in fact, almost
completely disappeared. However, we, as people from 2015, would be able to understand
Shakespeare, who insisted to make this disastrous story as a play, because the story itself is so
fascinating. It, ironically, is a great pleasure to see the English struggling to face the new world
coming at them. It seems like their trait of willing to discover makes the story interesting. It is how
they are not avoiding the challenges that make us want to see more about how they are going to
overcome those challenges and engages us further into the story. This perhaps is the reason why the
story is so often told until these days. It gives us a clear idea about what lives were like in the Age of
Explorations during England how they were struggling, but desiring. In this regard, it isn t strange for
us to wonder if Shakespeare merely wanted to retell this journey. Shakespeare must have been
impressed after reading Strachey s writings. It perhaps was written in the hopes that the readers could
take away something from the English back then from their open, active attitudes towards challenges.

Understanding Jesus Heritage
Sandra Schneiders (as cited in Ryan, 2012), describes the bible as ...an integral, even normative, part
of living tradition . This can be seen particularly in the use of the infancy narratives which tell the well
known Christmas story, in Catholic religious groups today individual parishioners, churches and
Catholic Education institutions. The text is used and heavily relied upon to inform believers and those
wishing to gain insight into the Catholic religion, on the faith. It appears through contemporary
scholarship, however, that the infancy gospels of Matthew and Luke present to their readers, different
themes, conflicting information and two very different accounts of the significant birth and early life
of Jesus. It is therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He came into the world to work along side the poor, the rich, the healthy, the sick, the good and the
bad. Examples of this are shown in stories such as that of Jesus and Zacchaeus, the sinful tax collector
(Luke 19) and the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30 37). These gospel stories are used today
to show how Jesus love and compassion flowed through to all man kind and that it was not reserved
for any favoured groups or individuals. Luke is demonstrating to his audience the universality of Jesus
and that salvation is offered to everyone.
Mason (2009), indicates it is very unlikely that Luke or Matthew was an eyewitness to Jesus life and
that they relied upon other sources to formulate their gospels. Therefore, as previously discussed, it is
imperative that the infancy narratives be viewed as separate stories and not one historically accurate
recount. This is, in large part, due to the discrepancies and conflicting information readers are
presented with.
An example of these conflicts has been previously discussed, in both texts providing differing
genealogies at the discussion of Jesus birth. Matthew traces Jesus blood line back to that of Abraham
and King David, whereas Luke aligns Jesus heritage as far back as Adam. These conflicting accounts,
as aforementioned, are for differing purposes and convey different messages to the reader. Matthew s
purpose is

The Importance Of Listening As A Servant Leader
Discussion Following this further, we will discuss the remarks of various authors about the importance
of listening as a servant leader, as well as how it is effected by emotional intelligence. It is also
important that we compare and contrast the various viewpoints on this subject, before we answer the
research questions based on this literature.
Listening
First, we will review the literature from various authors on why listening is important as a servant
leader. As mentioned earlier, Spears (2002), illustrated how listening was a critical aspect of servant
leadership, and the first in his list of ten elements which were vital in regard to the development of
servant leaders (loc. 119). This identification as a crucial element of servant leadership, ... Show more

Emotional intelligence is a term that Daniel Goleman coined to describe a bundle of psychological
attributes that many strong and effective leaders exhibit (Hill, Jones, Schilling, 2014, p. 32). As
described by Hill et al. (2014), emotional intelligence incorporates self awareness, self regulation,
motivation, empathy, and social skills (p. 32). In contrast, Covey (2002) lists only empathy and
awareness as one of his ten characteristics of servant leaders. Daniel Goleman also goes on to mention
that leaders who have these traits are more successful than those who do not. In Goleman s view,
people respect leaders who, because they are self aware, recognize their own limitations and, because
they are self regulating, consider decisions carefully (Hill et al., 2014, p. 32). He goes on to describe
how motivation helps persuade others towards a leader s vision. Finally, strong empathy and social
skills can help leaders earn the loyalty of subordinates (Hill et al., 2014, p.

  • 2. The Glass Ceiling In The Workplace Over the past few years, the percentage of women in lower managerial positions has increased tremendously while the number of women who reach the top is still just a small proportion. They are held back by an invisible barrier that is named the glass ceiling (Dreher, 2003). The glass ceiling is a concept that is repeatedly used in studies, analyzing inequalities between men and women in the workplace (Baxter Wright, 2000). The phenomenon glass ceiling has been used universally in the media as well as in official government reports (US Department of Labor, 1991; A fact finding report of the Federal glass ceiling commission, 1995) and academic publications. The federal Glass Ceiling Commission was founded in 1991 with its mandate to identify certain barriers that have blocked the promotion of minorities and women. They refer to the glass ceiling as an Unseen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nowadays people refer to the glass ceiling when describing a situation where women and minorities are held back from advancing to a certain level (Jackson, 2001). Although women can get access to the first levels of managerial hierarchies, at some point they will hit an invisible barrier that blocks them of any further upward movement. As one of the early writers, who used the metaphor, Hymowitz and Schellhardt (1986) describes the glass ceiling as an obstacle in organizational hierarchies that is situated just below the top management level (Dreher, 2003). The definition of the concept glass ceiling has changed over time. Taken literally, the metaphor of the glass ceiling implies the existence of an impermeable barrier that blocks the vertical mobility, below this barrier women and minorities, are able to get hired by male dominated organizations, and can get promoted, above this barrier they are not. (Baxter Wright, 2000). Sometimes they are considered to be promoted to a higher position, but rarely reach that position (Maume, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats A Comparison of Blake, Wordsworth and Keats William Blake, John Keats and William Wordsworth all believe in the depth of the world and the possibilities of the human heart. However, each poet looks towards different periods in time to capture meaning in life. Blake looks towards the future for his inspiration, Keats towards the present and Wordsworth towards the past. Regardless of where each poet looks for their inspiration they are all looking for the same thing; timeless innocence. Each poet sought to transcend time by creating works that dealt with life, death, hope and imagination and to discover some kind of deep truth or meaning in existence. Life and death is an issue that we will all have to deal with at some point in our life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Technological advancement and social progress were steps backwards for Wordsworth and thus he looked to the past for his inspiration. John Keats did not have the luxury time that Wordsworth had to look to the past and reminisce about things that were because he knew he did not have long to live. Even from a young age Keats felt his life would be a short one and he so he applied himself to his art with a desperate urgency . Keats died at twenty six years old and managed to leave behind some of the greatest poetry ever written. He didn t bother to look toward the future because he knew that he wouldn t live to see it and he didn t look to the past because he decided that it was more important to live in the moment. Keats was very aware of his own mortality and his poetry reflected the intensity and the passion of a man who didn t have very long to live. His poetry remains some of the densest prose ever penned because, like his brief existence, he had to condense so much life into so little space. The thought of impending death would be enough to make anyone fall into hopeless despair but Keats s incredible talents and commitment to live in the moment perhaps allowed him to three lifetimes. The Chimney Sweeper is a quintessential Blake poem as it embodies his belief in looking towards the future for hope and comfort. Additionally, the poem is a perfect example of a child s movement from innocence to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay Slough by Sir John Betjeman Sir John Betjeman s poem, Slough, opens with a wonderful, dramatic stanza. There is huge tension between the ideas of cows grazing and the idea of death. Even in the opening line there is conflict friendly bombs is a contradiction in terms, as bombs are almost never thought of as friendly, and Betjeman s use of this defines what a bad place. Another tool Betjeman employs is rhythm; the stanza is at a steady, predefined pace until the last line where the rhythm is broken with the word Death , which gives a powerful image of Slough. In the second stanza, Betjeman cleverly compares people s minds and breath to tinned products, giving everything a feeling of sanitised dullness, without fresh air. He also uses the form here, listing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also has an elegant form. In the fourth stanza, Betjeman repeats always in the second line which implies the fact that it is this man s way of life. He also uses this man with double chin as a way of expressing all the people who have this attitude and life, and the image of washing with women s tears is extremely effective. Every line in the next stanza opens with And , which makes it seem rather like a list, a list of the poet s demands. Indeed the entire stanza is simply stating things which he demands be done to this man. The poem changes tack after this: it speaks of sparing clerks. There is tension simply in using the description bald young . The rhythm again breaks at the harsh phrase They ve tasted Hell . The next two stanzas continue the description of these bald young clerks . There is a comparison between birdsong and the radio , two things which would generally be contrasted. In the last two lines Betjeman introduces a wonderful tranquil image of looking up and seeing the stars, but then dispels it with the disgusting line But belch instead . The ninth stanza is a bit like a throwback to the canned breath it speaks of chemicals and synthetic things. It discusses peroxide hair and painting nails, poking fun at them. The final stanza concludes the poem. The opening line is the same as the opening line of the first verse and it reminds us of the aims of this whole poem and of the subject, Slough. It is aiming ... I could here the waves crushing agisnt the rocks as we where getting ready to go out to sea on the kayaks. The sea breeze stung my face when I looked into it. We had to put on water shoes to keep our feet from getting cuts on the rocks. The shoes did not do a very good job of keeping our feet from hurting, altho they did stop us from getting cuts. The hardest part was getting the kayaks to the shore. They were about 48 to 58 feet from the shore. It was hard because we could not drag the kayaks to the shore. • 8. We Shall Fight On The Beaches In Winston Churchill s speech, We Shall Fight On the Beaches he presents a powerful call to action directly to the British House of Commons in the year of 1940 on the forth of June. Winston uses the techniques of figurative language to capture his audience s attention in a way they could understand the importance of his message, without disregarding his high level of intellect. In order for one to truly understand Churchill s message one must understand the difficult task he was coined with prior to delivering this powerful message. Through the use of logos Winston provides us with the necessary background information to inform the listeners that prior to delivering the speech the British military suffered a great loss in both France and Belgium. In great detail he speaks on the events that have occurred leading up to him speaking, giving both us now and the then listener a better understanding of what he stands for and is fighting for. His use of logos makes the speech more reliable and comforts the audience because it informs them that Churchill knows what he is talking about. In his speech he announced to the public that he knew it was going to be hard to announce and speak on the greatest military disaster in the history of Britain. His ability to be sensitive and honest in his challenges creates a powerful bond between his message and the audience. His use of rhetoric helped bring about a final victory after all the disasters caused by the Nazis. Churchill knew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being a Chinese that lives in Indonesia, she has the privileges of learning both cultures. Both Indonesian and Chinese cultures, unfortunately, are very conservative, which is why she said she had hard times accepting the freedom in the White culture. She did not see her race as a minority, because she said, Asian kids are the smartest, it is just our accent that makes us look dumb. She also did not receive any racial discrimination before. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lee s reading on Behind the Model Minority Stereotypes: Voices of High and Low Achieving Asian American Students, I learned that that people s identity has a lot to do with how they perceive minority and immigration. There are many things that Lee described that I find very accurate to the answers of my interviewees. Lee mentioned that Asian American students are viewed as a model minority, and there is this model minority stereotype that causes many teachers to expect greater things from their Asian students. However, I discovered something interesting, that two of my Asian interviewees actually believed in the stereotype, and thought of themselves as academically superior. This is very true for my Asian American friend who said that she felt extremely proud to have the American English accent and White culture, and at the same time having the intelligence of the Asian brain. This can be related to the reading when one of the Korean students responded, We are smarter. I mean, I don t think it s a stereotype look at our report cards. We are better, and we have to show it (417). However, this is different with my peer s interview on his Asian friend who hates Math and denies the stereotypes. The Chinese Indonesian Asian whom I interviewed also felt intelligent compared to other races, but she admitted that her accent prevents her from speaking her thoughts. This is similar to Thai s case where he wanted to be a lawyer, but chose engineering because of her accent. In addition, my Chinese Indonesian interview can support Ogbu s argument, that is also present in Lee s reading, that voluntary minorities who usually migrate because of better education and opportunities, tends to do better academically (414). However, this should not be applied to all Asian voluntary minorities, as generalization should not be made. In addition, Lee also mentioned about Ogbu s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lack of historical records makes some historians question the association between the First Emperor and the construction of the wall. What is certain, however, is that if the First Emperor gave the orders to build the Great Wall, it was not built as we know it today. The walls would have been made of stones or earth, depending on what was more readily available. The philosophies of the time included Confucianism and Legalism, as simplified by modern scholar Arthur Waley in his book, Three Ways of Thought in Ancient China. Confucianism was considered bad and impractical, based on the idea that it was ruler based and hind sighted. The Legalists were considered good and practical because the administrations they set up were run by qualified men, used agriculture to stimulate the economy, and created clear laws. In fact, the First Emperor ordered the burning of several Confucius texts part of the Five Classics including the Book of Poetry and the Book of Documents. This was knows as the Burning of the Books. This burning also included other literature such as poetry, historical documents, and philosophical texts. This was done because the emperor felt threatened by those below him with something critical to say. • 12. Swot Analysis Of Bean s New Multi Purpose Camping Unit Essay With the introduction of a new product comes the potential for risk. Great care and thoroughness should be taken to identify as many potential risks as imaginable since although it is not always possible to control risk factors it is entirely possible to mitigate potential ill effects if a solid strategy is in place. Some risk factors identified may never actually be realized, but it is well worth having a contingency plan in place rather than running the risk of causing detriment to the financial well being of the business. Several possible risks have been identified in association with the launch of L.L. Bean s new multi purpose camping unit, the first being the risk of losing business to competitors with similar products. The mitigation plan to address this risk comes from the very core of L.L. Bean s business. L.L. Bean will differentiate itself from its competitors by offering a unique product of superior quality, shipped for free, and backed by their unsurpassed customer service and 100% satisfaction guarantee. This new product is multifunctional, and can take the place of several other items. There is nothing quite like it on the market. L.L. Bean will present a product of value to the customer, lessening the risk of competitors taking business away. • 14. The Logistics Of A Supply Chain The logistics of a supply chain can be very difficult to understand. There are many different parts involved and if one does not function correctly the others will soon follow. From manufacturing to transportation there is always something happening within the supply chain. Every section of the supply chain is scrutinized and checked to see if the process is going as smoothly as possible. Knowing different styles of research can help in diagnosing problems from within the supply chain. Two of these methods are quantitative research and qualitative research. Two methods that are used to research and calculate an issue would be the quantitative method and the qualitative method. Each method has its own style. Quantitative research deals with numbers, has data that can be measured such as length, speed, time or cost (Roberts, 2012). Qualitative research deals with descriptions and data that cannot be measured (Roberts, 2012). These methods will both help to diagnose any issues that could arise within the supply chain from the manufacturer all the way to the customer s hands. Having a customer do a survey is a qualitative research object. This can then be formulated with other customers and figure out if it is necessary to make more product to have on hand or to back off and stop production on the product. If a researcher is going through online reviews and is counting how many stars a product received through a website, they would be using quantitative research. This is ... • 15. Reflection Paper On Fitness Welcome to Fitness In my life so far, there have been very few instances where I honestly thought about giving up. I like to believe I am a very strong willed and sometimes stubborn person. I also believe everyone has moments where they reach their limit and must decide whether or not to raise the bar. My first day of track practice was one of those moments. I don t believe I fully understood what I was getting myself into that day. I walked through the gym door nervous and filled with a mixture of anxiety and excitement. The first thing I noticed was how many people there were. The entire gym had people circling the perimeter. I mean it was insane. It felt like everyone I had ever known to be in sports was there. People I had never even said a word to had managed find to their way to the gym. I was out of my league and out of my mind. I couldn t do this. I m going to make a fool of myself. Everyone here is conditioned for this and they ve done this before. They know what is going to happen. I was standing there, looking around like an idiot. The first person I recognize and actually talk to is Franky. I attempt to casually sneak my way over to him. I feel like a fish out of water. I decide that if I ever get confused as to what to do I must have a plan. Ask Franky. That was the best I could come up with. The warm ups and stretching weren t so bad. I was left out of breath from the quicker ones, but I felt I would recover in time for the real workout. When coach shouted ... There are many differences between the beliefs of the Nationalists and the Unionists. The main one being that Nationalists want a united Ireland and see themselves as Irish whereas Unionists want to be part of Britain and see themselves as British. Before partition this caused many problems because Nationalists resented being ruled from London, where the politicians there probably had never even been to Ireland and so, in their opinion could not know what would be best for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This gives them prejudiced views and means they judge each other on their religion. This comes from generations of dislike which over the years has been distorted into hate. Catholics however deny this and say that although many Catholics will live their life around the Church and the beliefs of the Catholic Church, the British government allow the Church of England a much greater say in the running of the country. Stemming from this lack of knowledge about each other s religion is the problem that Protestants believe Catholics have no personal freedom. The Catholic Church does not allow divorce or abortion as they believe marriage is sacred; as is life, so to kill a child or end a marriage is to go against God. As most Catholics want to lead good lives and follow the teachings of the Bible and religious leaders, then they agree that divorce and abortion are wrong and so, the fact that the Irish government says abortion is illegal does not bother them. Protestants living in Ireland though see this as an infringement upon their freedom and freewill. After college, Jackie worked for the Washington Times Herald as an Inquiring Camera Girl. Her job was to both photograph and interview local citizens with one question every day. She was a well educated woman with lots of knowledge and was a good model for other women to show they could be whatever they wanted to be. They didn t have to worry about being smarter than their spouse or about having to clean the house every day. Jackie showed a good example of an educated woman. Jackie Kennedy s life as the First Lady came to a tragic end on November 22, 1963 when her husband, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated while riding in Texas. Being the one right by his side, Jackie watched as her husband died in her arms. The surviving widow now had two children to raise on her own. In this time period when technology has become prevalent, it is almost impossible for someone to not have constant contact with such gadgets on an everyday basis. As technology becomes more advanced, human beings are further entrenched in this field of innovation. In fact, some have claimed that their dependence on technology is so extreme that instead of using other means, they strive to eliminate its negative effects through more innovation (Dreyfuss). Such overdependence can be considered as technology addiction. One of the most prominent changes that sparked this addiction is the Industrial Revolution, a boom in technological progress. As scientists sole goal during the Industrial Revolution was to innovate, they became too fixated on their passion and were ignorant of the consequences of their inventions. With the rapid increase in the number of factories and machinery, pollution and grim working conditions quickly ensued. Without realizing how severe the negative implications of technology could be, society was not able to keep pace with the immense amount of pollution and unsanitary living conditions ( Industrial Revolution ). In Shelley s novel, Victor Frankenstein, the fanatical natural philosopher, represents the scientists collective perspective while his creation embodies the very ideal of technology. As Victor becomes extremely obsessed with finding the origin of life , he does not care about any other elements around him, including his friends and his environment. On the other hand, his creation, though a naturally gentle being, becomes destructive as he is disdained by humanity for his monstrous appearance (Shelley). These two characters parallel the trend of Industrial Revolution in terms of how technology developed. Mr. Tefik Ashiku owns and operates the Insured corporate entity. The pub operates out of a building owned by the co defendant, Junaid Zubairi. Plaintiff s lawsuit alleges negligence against both Beslidheje, Inc. and Zubairi, claiming that the stairway had insufficient or inoperative lighting at the time she fell. We have had further discussions with Mr. Ashiku, Mr. Zubairi, and Ms. Kristen Finkensher, the bartender on duty on the night of the occurrence. Their statements are consistent with the facts stated in our prior report. In short, on the night of the incident, the City of South Elgin was hosting its annual festival, Riverfest, near the pub. There were light towers located throughout the festival grounds, which illuminated the surrounding buildings, including the pub. Plaintiff came into the pub, ordered one beer and, at some point, left the pub. An unknown patron then alerted Ashiku and his bartender that Plaintiff had fallen near the bottom of the stairs. Plaintiff refused assistance from the bartender including an offer to call an ambulance and left in a vehicle driven by her friend. The lights above the stairs were functional and the village s light towers brightly illuminated the stairs. The bartender described the plaintiff as being about 5 8 tall and weighing about 300 pounds. She believes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In our view, however, as long as you can support a view taken by someone else without merely restating what he or she has said, there is no reason to worry about being original. • 25. The Importance Of Collectivism In Japanese Culture Collectivism also affects how the Japanese make decisions within their companies. Unlike their counterparts in Western business organizations, Japanese executives and managers are not real independent decision makers (Samovar 268). While Western businesses usually adopt a top to bottom approach to decision making, Japanese businesses operate under a more democratic approach. Japanese CEOs rarely make decisions on their own for fear of backlash from the overall group. Rather, they adopt what is called a ringi style of decision making that promotes harmony, cooperation, and consensus within the organization (Samovar 267). Before any major decisions are made, the CEO confirms that all members of the group have reached an agreement. In The Silent Language, Edward Hall claims that what people do is frequently more important then what they say (Hall Silent Language 2). Furthermore, non verbal communication research shows that over 70% of interpersonal interaction happens non verbally (LaCour 66). Words convey what a person wants you to think, but a person s actions express what they are actually feeling. Thus, it should come as no surprise that perhaps the most important aspect of effective communication within Japanese culture is non verbal communication. Within the theme of non verbal communication in Japan comes the subject of high contextuality. While Americans emphasize directness and clarity in communication, the Japanese typically rely on communicating with vague ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A new artform would revolutionize civilization in ancient Greece, and subsequently, the rest of the world. With this new artform came many inventions and developments that have surpassed centuries and influenced future creativity. With these developments came the theatre of ancient Greece. While some sources claim that Greek theatre began around the 6th century, other sources claim that the origins are vague and subject to debate. There is, however, evidence suggesting that the origins of Greek theatre can trace back to when Greek farmers would celebrate with feasts, music, and dancing after a bountiful harvest. Evidence also suggests that Greek theatre also originated as entertainment for the god Dionysos. There is also not much evidence of how early Greek theatres were built as they were constantly rebuilt. So far, the only evidence of the ambiance and environment surrounding Greek theatre is in vase paintings. Once Greek theater took off, it suddenly became the talk of the town, and by the end of the 6th century BCE, every city in ancient Greece would hold a theatre, which was usually built along a slope so that audiences sitting the farthest would be able to see the play take place. These theatrons , though constantly refurbished, had at least three sections: the orchestra, the skene, and the audience. The orchestra was where all the acting and performances took place. However, we, as people from 2015, would be able to understand Shakespeare, who insisted to make this disastrous story as a play, because the story itself is so fascinating. This can be seen particularly in the use of the infancy narratives which tell the well known Christmas story, in Catholic religious groups today individual parishioners, churches and Catholic Education institutions. The text is used and heavily relied upon to inform believers and those wishing to gain insight into the Catholic religion, on the faith. Examples of this are shown in stories such as that of Jesus and Zacchaeus, the sinful tax collector (Luke 19) and the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30 37). These gospel stories are used today to show how Jesus love and compassion flowed through to all man kind and that it was not reserved for any favoured groups or individuals. Luke is demonstrating to his audience the universality of Jesus and that salvation is offered to everyone. Mason (2009), indicates it is very unlikely that Luke or Matthew was an eyewitness to Jesus life and that they relied upon other sources to formulate their gospels. Therefore, as previously discussed, it is imperative that the infancy narratives be viewed as separate stories and not one historically accurate recount. This is, in large part, due to the discrepancies and conflicting information readers are presented with. An example of these conflicts has been previously discussed, in both texts providing differing genealogies at the discussion of Jesus birth. Matthew traces Jesus blood line back to that of Abraham and King David, whereas Luke aligns Jesus heritage as far back as Adam. In contrast, Covey (2002) lists only empathy and awareness as one of his ten characteristics of servant leaders. Daniel Goleman also goes on to mention that leaders who have these traits are more successful than those who do not. In Goleman s view, people respect leaders who, because they are self aware, recognize their own limitations and, because they are self regulating, consider decisions carefully (Hill et al., 2014, p. 32).
