island chains in the South China Sea (SCS), the Paracels and the Spratleys. Those nations disputing
their rightful ownership include China, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei, and Taiwan. The
source of the conflict in this area stems from the geographical location and the natural resources to be
gained through their ownership. According to the World Bank, the sea contains approximately 900
trillion cubic feet of natural gas and seven billion barrels of oil. That roughly equates to the amount of
energy needed to power the entire world for an entire year. Furthermore, the sea is a center for fishing
and provides most of the surrounding countries with the vast majority of their total fish supply.
Finally, the SCS is a major trade route, especially for petroleum products and crude oil shipments;

Prince Carl of Solms Braunfels, was a key figure in the establishment of German culture in Texas.
Despite being in Texas for only one year, Prince Carl of Solms Braunfels was able to leave a lasting
legacy of German culture and traditions through the town of New Braunfels.
Early Life
Born on July 27, 1812 to Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Solms Braunfels and Princess Friederike of
Mecklenburg Strelitz, Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Ludwig Georg Alfred Alexander, known as Prince Carl,
was brought up in a wealthy noble family. He was educated as a soldier and courtier, and was fluent in
three different languages. As with most nobles of the time, Prince Carl had an illustrious family tree
and many connections. Because of this, he received important military assignments and awards. In
1834, he secretly married Luise Auguste Stephanie Beyrich, a woman of lesser status. This was
considered a disgrace and not fit for a prince, so in 1841, he annulled his marriage to Luise after being
pressured to by his family. While serving in the cavalry of the Austrian Army, Prince Carl stumbled
upon G.A. Schrepf s guide to Texas immigrants, Charles Sealsfield s novel about Texas, and William

The Ninemile Wolves is a compelling nonfiction story told by Rick Bass, while Bass approaches the

including some local ranchers, hunters and politicians. The wolves are studied by Bass, Rick Jimenez,
and others of how they are endeavoring for their presence in the Ninemile Valley in Montana. Bass
consumes his reader into his work by using both scientific and spiritual relevance of the wolves, and
how they balance the ecosystem. While the biologist are cheering for the survival of the Ninemile
pack ranchers, hunters, and politicians are concerned that they will attack livestock and decimate the
population of elk and deer. However, despite all the stereotypes put into place the wolves survive off
small mammals, and stray away from large pray. Bass anthropomorphizes the wolves by saying they
have a soul like humans, and their spirit has an effect on the Ninemile Valley. In the begging chapters
the first set of wolves were found on a rancher s property, the rancher let them stay long enough for
the pups to mature; a month later, after attacks on dogs and calves, probably by coyotes, the wolves
were removed, kept in captivity for several weeks and released. One pup escaped, and then was
captured; the other two died of starvation. The Montana Department of Fisheries and Wildlife
Preservation asked the USFWS to remove the pups because they might affect Montana s biggest cash

reactive element will replace an element that is underneath it in the activity series. (Dickinson et al.

The whole world can become an enemy when you lose what you love Kristina Martin. I used to be the
one/the kind of kid who didn t put much effort for/towards anything. I used to not try as hard in school
but now i do because my grandpa does/trys to or did put forth 110% on anything and everything he
