Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet And Edward Taylor
Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor are two of the most distinguished and fervent Puritan poets. Yet
this similarity has proven to be one of the few, if not only between these two. One cannot help but find
it intriguing that poets who belong to the same religious group and style would write so differently.
Many of these differences are not even subtle or hidden beneath the text itself. The differences
themselves hold implications and ideas that differ between each poet. The first difference which is the
most obvious would be the style of each respected poet. Every poet has a unique style, but generally
those who belong to the same period or set of ideas have similar styles. Between Bradstreet and Taylor
there are no similarities in style. Taylor can be considered a much more polished poet. Taylor s poetry
is full of poetic techniques and advanced styling tools such as the iambic meter and advanced rhyming
schemes. This style can be seen as the norm for a highly educated preacher which Taylor was.
Bradstreet on the other hand has a more simplistic style that can be seen as the voice of the common
or average Puritan. Therefore, there is far less ornamentation in her poetry. If one compares the
Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666. and Taylor s

diction while tackling the topic of her burning house. She uses simple and

Shirley Jackson Satire
Shirley Jackson was an author who wasn t well known at first, but her literary works brought her
recognition, including the short story, The Lottery , a mandatory reading in many high schools. She
wrote many other stories such as Charles and The Possibility of Evil , these works influenced by her
life. The dark moods of her stories sourced first from her abuse as a child, but these are what made her
stories unique. In her story The Possibility of Evil , Shirley Jackson creates this heavy mood of hatred
and despair by combining her unique uses of ellipses, adjective focused word choice, and vivid
descriptions of setting. The story follows an elderly lady named Miss Strangeworth, who believes it is
her duty to protect her townspeople from evil by alerting them to situations with her letters, but in
reality, is only creating more evil and tension with her paranoia. ... Show more content on

She uses tons of ellipses to create moments of suspense in the story, as foreshadowing, and to pause
after intense descriptions of setting. For example, when she uses them at the end of a sentence, she
creates tension because it leaves the reader uncertain of what will happen. Jackson combines this with
actions in The Possibility of Evil , by describing Miss Strangeworth Then she went into her supper...
after her dishes were done, and the kitchen set in order, she... set off on her evening walk, pocketbook
under her arm... This quote gives an ambiguous quality by ending an action, with the

Crime And Punishment By Fyrodor Doveskey
The Theorized Extraordinary to the Ordinary Romantic
The human race remembers people in history who fought for something they believed in. For
example, both Neapolitan Bonaparte and George Washington killed other people in battle, because
they had something that they believed worthy to fight for regardless of the established and universal
law against killing. In Raskolnikov`s words from Crime and Punishment, they were extraordinary
men. These men, according to Raskolnikov, had the right to commit any crime, because they were
leading ordinary people into a new and improved society, without any moral repercussions. In Fyrodor
Doveskey`s, Crime and Punishment, his character Raskolnikov`s argument of the extraordinary man
versus the ordinary man, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it becomes clear throughout the novel that he does feel guilty. For example, when
Raskolnikov helps Semyon Zakharovich Marmeladov return to his family after he is ran over,
Raskolnikov walks away feeling like he has somewhat atoned for his sins. Also, proving that
Raskolnikov feels guilty for what he did is that, at the end of the novel, Raskolnikov confesses in the
street, even though there was someone charged with the crime already. If, according to Raskolnikov,
an extraordinary man, which he believes himself to be, should feel no guilt, then why does
Raskolnikov feel the need to atone for his sins by helping Semyon Zakharovick Marmeladov`s family
and then eventually

Analysis Of The Book The Sign Of The Beaver By...
Located in the Eastern Woodlands of Maine are the Penobscot Native Americans. Formally known as
the Penobscot tribe of Maine, they are now known as The Penobscot Nation. One can glean
knowledge of this tribe through the historical fiction novel The Sign of the Beaver, by Elizabeth
George Speare, and the article Penobscot, from Wikipedia.org. The novel is the story of a 12 year old
boy s experience and interaction with the tribe after he finds himself left alone in the wilderness of
Maine. The article is a non fiction work describing the history, culture, and daily life of the tribe.
Though both pieces revolve around the indigenous people, they are written from different
perspectives. They also contrast in author s purpose. The article neutrally informs the reader about the
tribe, whereas the novel presents its information subjectively through the main character s feelings and
emotions.
Though writing sources differ in their genre, they can still share similarities. The book by Elizabeth
George Speare and the article from Wikipedia demonstrates a closeness between each other. In the
novel The Sign of the Beaver, Matt, the main character, is introduced to the Penobscot tribe after he
falls out of a tree while being attacked by a swarm of angry bees. Fortunately, Saknis, the Penobscot
leader, saves his life and as payment he forces Matt to teach Attean, his grandson, English. In return,
Attean would bring Matt some necessities and teach him how to survive in the

`` Darkness At Noon `` By Arthur Koestler
Novel name as Darkness at Noon is Written by a British novelist Arthur Koestler. For the first time,
this novel was published in 1940. The novel situated in 1938 amid the Stalinist Great Purge and

instance, the Soviet government is alluded to as the Party and Nazi Germany is alluded to as the

Rather, the individual is the basic calculate making a general public. An individual can get by without
an elected representatives. However, management cannot get by without the support of the individual,
and it is therefore that no type of Communism has ever achieved the idealistic top in which Engles and
Marx communicated in the proposal of the communalist association.
Amid the start of Rubashov s lone detainment, he starts to question the dependability of the
communalist administration, and for a period, sees himself sovereign from the Party. Rubashov s
pulling far from collectivism is understandable in his conversation with the inspecting

Nation of Israel Essay
Nation of Israel
Background: History and general facts about Israel
Along the eastern coastline of the Mediterranean Sea, at the junction of three continents, lies a much
disputed piece of land, now known as the country of Israel. Although this land is now controlled by its
original inhabitants, the Jewish people have only had political power for the past half century. After
the Jewish people lost authority, the control of this piece of land changed hands numerous times. This
land has been plagued for centuries by disputes between its neighboring countries and peoples over its
rule. Located in the Middle East, Israel s neighboring countries include Egypt, Jordan, Syria and
Lebanon. The majority of its western side and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The vast climactic differences are reflected in the rich variety of flora and fauna. Despite the wide
environmental range, fresh water scarcity has been a lasting problem. The National Water Carrier aids
in bringing water from the north to the south, and additional methods of using other sources are
underway. Desertification and pollution are two other environmental issues that Israel faces.
Sandstorms are a natural hazard, which most often occur in the spring and the summer. The natural
resources are copper, phosphates, sulfur, manganese, bromide, asphalt, potash, clay, and sand. The
highest point in Israel is 1,208m at Har Meron, and the lowest point in Israel is the lowest point on
earth 408m below sea level in the Dead Sea.
Israel s current population nears six million, as compared to its population of fewer than one million at
the time of its inception. The vast majority, 90%, of the population resides in urban centers, and most
of the remainder of the population inhabits rural cooperative settlements named the moshav and the
kibbutz. The age structure is as follows: 0 14 years 28%, 15 64 years 62%, over 65 years 10%. The
population growth rate is 1.8%. The sex ratio for the total population is 0.99 male/female. Children
begin school at age 5 and can continue through age 18. Pre school is common for 3 and 4 year olds. 12
years is the median amount of schooling for the population.

Blakes cry for a voice Essay
Blake s cry for a voice
William Blake had a vision. It was a thought that changed the way poetry and writing would be
viewed from here to eternity. Blake s point of views and associations with the characters represents a
change in the way the reader dictates who the victim is really and who is not. In Blake s The Chimney
Sweeper from the Songs of Innocence and Experience, both aspects of heaven and hell can be
examined just the same as a good versus evil aspect of the two different styles of the poem. One poem,
two totally different views on manners, morals, customs, and what is right and wrong.

Highly critical poems on rationality, normality and societal parameters are not uncommon and a
trademark of Blake s later, far more bitter poetry. As a social commentator, a number of issues relevant
at the time were the inspiration behind gloomy works such as The Chimney Sweeper regarding
industrialization and, from the Songs of Experience.
Blake was society s unwillingness to accept and recognize new ideas and opportunities for change.
Stating at one point that these reservations were an enemy to social progression . To be condemned in
a society that is much Blake s as well as anyone else s is a torment that would be felt on all of his art.
The Chimney Sweeper from William Blake s Songs of Innocence comprises
songs of happy cheer about field and flower, hill and stream, and the innocence of child and lamb, as
seen through the eyes of a child (World Book vol.2 pg 314).
In one excerpt, The Chimney Sweeper, Blake, through religious symbolism, gives the image of an
innocence child living a life of hardship and grief that gains comfort from the knowledge that God will
deliver him to a better life in heaven. The image of this child who cried when his head, that curled like
a lamb s back, was shaved gives the impression of the sacrificial lamb, sacrificed into a life of
hardship, poverty, and early death. The child dreams of an

Evaluation Of The Video Discussion
This was a very interesting simulation. As mentioned in the Flipchat video discussion, I have done
several other simulations during my undergrad schooling. Compared to this simulation they were
based in the financial realm focused on stocks and bonds. However, they all share a similar aspect in
regards that their ultimate goal to maximize profit. Ultimately I ended up doing three different runs
through the simulation that each had unique results. My best results showed a profit of $37.5 million
and a market share of just under 50% for the state of Florida. During my first run through of the
simulations I had simple strategy which was to mimic the prices of the competition. I matched the
prices of competitor for both weekend and weekday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, at the same time I believed that because there was only a little gap in market share, the
reputation of Universal was greater than its competition and the price difference was the reason for the
market share gap. Therefore, I lowered the prices to be comparative to the competitor and my theory
was correct and the market share flipped and Universal gained more as the months progressed. This
process is what I would implement on a larger scale in my second simulation run.
Throughout my second run in the simulation I altered my strategy to have my prices lower then
competition and it backfired greatly on me. My thought process for this was that having lower prices
would definitely raise market share as consumers would chose the cheaper costs. At the same time I
envisioned the drop in prices would result in more consumers switching companies and renting from
Universal, but I was wrong. The results of this simulation ended with a loss of over $11 million but a
market share of over 50%. My error for this simulation was that I relied too much on lowering prices.
In the first simulation the last three months were the competition increased their prices and there were
no change to universal resulted in losses of profits. I took that as not adjusting the prices and not that
my prices were too low. However, after the second simulation

Harper Lee s Kill A Mocking Bird
Most blacks are unable to speak English well. They cannot conjugate verbs. They have a poor grasp of
verb tenses. They have a limited vocabulary. They cannot speak without swearing. Many, when they
testify, show a complete lack of empathy and are unable to conceal a morality based on the
satisfaction of immediate, base needs. Most jurors are white and are appalled by the demeanor of
uneducated, criminal blacks .
The prevalent attitudes of the American Public in the 1930 s are brazenly conveyed in this quote.
Black people were viewed as the epitome of moral, physical and mental ugliness and were expected to
be uneducated and wholly beneath white citizens. Although this mindset was fundamentally
unavoidable for many at that time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lee also presents the problems she witnessed through her Bildungsroman style narrative, allowing
Scout s maturity and morality to align with her conclusion to reject racial discrimination.
Harper Lee presents the problem of racism specifically in the trial of Tom Robinson a black man
unfairly convicted of rape by Mayella Ewell, Robert Ewell s daughter. The courtroom setting entitles
the reader to identify an extensive range of characters, with varying social statuses, backgrounds and
idiosyncrasies, representing a complete society itself. The heavy use of dialogue and symbolism
throughout the trial also enables the reader to view other s predispositions of black people, as well as
Scout s detached insight into the case as a young girl, and her reflection of it as a woman, creating a
contemplative chapter. When Tom is responding questions asked by Judge Taylor, Atticus and Mr.
Gilmer, he explains that Mayella approached him, causing him to flee as he was scared. Tom stated,
No suh, she she hugged me. She hugged me round the waist . Here, Tom s use of suh displays his
conditioned response when generally conversing with white people. The accent representation on the
vowel also shows the differentiation between white and black at the time; uh is lower and more

very serious and engaging to a young adult. Having read the story at that point in my life, it will

A Comparison of Biographic Features in The Sun Also Rises...
A Comparison of Biographic Features in The Sun Also Rises and The Great Gatsby The writers F.
Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway included biographical information in their novels The Great
Gatsby and The Sun Also Rises that illuminated the meaning of the work. Although The Sun Also
Rises is more closely related to actual events in Hemingway s life than The Great Gatsby was to
events in Fitzgerald s life, they both take the same approach. They both make use of non judgemental
narrators to comment on the lost generation . This narrator allows Fitzgerlald and Hemingway to write

States and the corruption of the American Dream. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, based on the details, the narrators conclusions are relatively evident. In this novel,
Fitzgerald is able to write about his experiences from a different perspective and include his self in
both the characters of Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway.
As in many of Fitzgerald s works, he writes about a golden girl 1), the desire of every man that he
couldn t have. In the case of The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald creates the character of Daisy to fit this
discription. In actuality the motivation for Fitzgerald s writing about the golden girl came from real
events. Ginevra King was the love of [Fitzgerald s] young life. 2) In Ginevra s eyes, however,
Fitzgerald was simply one of the many men in her young life and when it came time she dropped him.
3)Most importantly, however, his rejection by Ginevra motivated much of his fiction. 4) In The Great
Gatsby, Daisy is shown by the end to be a very careless and confused who smashed up things and
creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness... and let other people
clean up the mess they had made. 5) This statement from the novel relates to Fitzgeralds own fealings
for Ginevra who used him, then dropped him when it came time leaving Francis devastated.6) This
rejection shaped Fitzgeralds view of women in general and thus affected his characterization of
women. The romance between Fitzgerald and Ginevra King is also given

Analysis Of The Movie Gosford Park
In thinking about the English country house and the lifestyle that came with it, it is undeniable that
what often comes to mind is the forms of conspicuous consumption that were displayed both inside
the country house, and also on the country house inhabitants. Displaying oneself was not only meant
for the London Season, but during visits to friends as well. At the same time, what is also not seen
plays a significant role as well. While on the surface the country house is revered as an elegant and
extravagant mansion filled with multiple layers of conspicuous consumption, the life of those who
have the crucial task of upholding this image is often held up in contrast. For an upstairs, there is a

In placing the country in this time period, Altman was able to employ symbolisms that Morris
Weissman, as both an American and a filmmaker, could represent. Indeed, there is a sort of irony in
that the murder mystery plot of Gosford Park was exactly what Weissman wanted to capture for his
own fictional movie: Charlie Chan in London. The movie begins with the guests and servants
assembling at Gosford Park for a shooting party hosted by Sir William McCordle. The housekeeper,
Mrs. Wilson, promptly organizes the guests valets and personal maids in their lodgings, also making
sure all the luggage and guns are in their proper places. Altman, during the mingling of the guests and
servants before dinner, portrays the complicated relationships between and among those in the house.
Servants gossip amongst each other while the guests upstairs are constantly flirting and glaring at one
another. The following event is the dinner, both for the guests and the servants. In the downstairs,
dinner is separated between the kitchen staff and the house staff, due to the disagreements between
Mrs. Wilson and the head cook, Mrs. Croft. During this dinner, Morris Weissman s valet, Henry, asks
about the history of the servants families. We learn that many of them were also in service, but there

The Progressive Tax System Of The United States Essay
There is an issue that has plagued the United States even prior to the founding of the nation. That issue
is fair taxation. While the American Colonists were being taxed unfairly without parliamentary
representation, average modern Americans are being taxed unfairly without legal representation. Some
hold the belief that the progressive tax code employed by the United States to be fair as the wealthy
pay a higher marginal tax rate. The operative word there being marginal. As the upper class typically
has a much lower effective tax rate since they are able to afford tax attorneys who are able to find
many deductions that average citizens are unaware of. Mitt Romney is a prime example of low
effective rates of taxation. According to CNN Money, Mitt Romney made twenty one million dollars
in one year, but only paid an effective rate of fifteen percent, which is much lower than the rate he
should be paying. The progressive tax system is one that is littered with loopholes, but those are only
known to those with the means to search them out as the federal tax code spans seventy thousand of
pages of convoluted text. Not even the highest paid tax accountants will ever read anywhere near the
full volume of tax laws. By the tax code being as long as it is, few are able to reap the full benefits of
the tax code. The level of complicated text is not the only major issue with the federal tax code.
Another issue with the tax code of the United States is the inability to separate

There has been some improvements made over the years, in a few categories that have heavily
impacted LGBTQ+ members. The first category is one many people overlook, legal issues. Second is
social change and how society s views and actions have changed. Last but certainly not least is, the
progression with homelessness. While examining LGBTQ+ issues it becomes clear that although the
ideal societal state has not yet been reached, progress has been made. A comparative assessment of the
past and present provides a clear understanding of the ongoing progression for this community of
people.
There has been quite a bit of progression made through laws and the removing of bans in Canada.
Starting from the darker side of the progression, homosexuality used to be punishable by death. As

LGBTQ+ Youth are overrepresented in the homeless youth population. The same group of people are
also underrepresented in homeless shelters. There is one main reason for why this is, many shelters are
not the most accepting to this group of people. This being said though brings me to this quote from an
anonymous person, Although we ve come to expect homelessness as an inescapable part of urban life,
there s no good reason it needs to be so. Unfortunately a lot of discrimination occurs in shelters. It can
range anywhere from others directly being mean to you because of your identity, to workers putting
you in the dorms that match your birth sex rather than your gender identity, and also bluntly not being
permitted access into the shelter because of something you can t control. Overtime this has slowly
changed, there is now a homeless shelter for LGBTQ+ Youth. They called it the Sprott Home. The
idea of it is it s a safe place for transitioning youth. Places like this are pretty rare but as society
becomes a more accepting place the need for them will hopefully die out, or they will be more
commonly found throughout

Steve Jobs, An American Engineer And Entrepreneur
Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs, an American engineer and entrepreneur, co founder and executive director of Apple
Company, was born on February 24, 1955 in the town of Mountain View, California. He spent his
childhood and youth in the family of the adoptive parents Paul and Clara Jobs. His biological parents a
Syrian immigrant Abdulfattah Jandali and an American student Joanne Carole Schieble let to adopt the
newborn baby. The main condition for adoption was the promise of the adoptive parents to provide the
child with the higher education.
After graduating from high school in 1972, Steve Jobs became the student of the Reed College in
Portland, Oregon. Captivated by the philosophy of Zen and Buddhism, Steve Jobs applied the
principles of these teachings to all the spheres of this private and professional life. He dismissed the
college after the first semester of studying and decided to attend the calligraphy courses. It gave him
an idea to equip the operation system for the Macintosh computer with the scalable fonts. Then Steve
took a job at Atari. His duty was to develop different computer games. Some years later Steve Jobs
helped to establish the sales of the computers, which were developed by his friend Steve Wozniak.
In 1976, Steve Jobs and Stephen Wozniak became the founders of Apple Company. Steve Jobs

Julian Rotter s Contribution To Personality
In the field of psychology, many psychologists have contributed to the understanding of personality.
Through their research, they have come up with an understanding of the various factors: genetics,
environmental, learning, parental, developmental, consciousness, and unconsciousness, that play a
role in shaping personality. In addition, it has helped people to discover themselves in a deeper level
by learning the various aspects of the characteristics and traits that make up who they are as unique
individuals. Out of all the contributors to the study of personality psychology like Sigmund Freud,
Karen Horney, and so forth, the focus of this paper will be on Julian Rotter. In delving deeper, the
paper will cover Julian Rotter s major contribution to psychology, how his theory change the
understanding of personality, and how it explains various cultural ways of life.
Julian Rotter s major contribution to personality was coming up with the social learning theory
construct of locus of control. The construct locus of control is a personality style and orientation
characterized either by the belief that individuals can control events by their own efforts (internal
locus of control) or that their future is determined by forces outside their control (external locus of
control) according to the The Gale Encyclopedia of Psychology (Longe, 2016, p. 694). In other words,
people with an internal locus of control manage their life on their own accord while people with an

Judaism Truly Value The Culture Of Non Violence
The wolf shall lie with the lamb and the leopard with the kid. Isaiah 11:6. One of the more commonly
known verses from the Hebrew bible. There are many verses such as this that express the longing for a
culture without violence that is attributed to the ethical values of Judaism. Upon further research
including an ethnographic study it was clear that followers of Judaism truly value the culture of non
violence. It is these ethics and values within the Judaistic tradition for the development of non
violence that are invaluable for contemporary society as they help to create a safer civilisation.
Firstly, the Torah or Hebrew bible has many different examples and teachings on violence, non
violence, punishment and war (Freeman, 2015). Isaiah 2:4 states He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares And their
spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war
anymore. The thirst for a world without violence is clearly portrayed in this passage and it appears to
reflect one of the strongest values of Judaism. However in Joel 4:9 10 this idiom is reused in a far
more barbaric manner (Heft, 2004). Announce this to the nations: Proclaim a holy war! Alert the
warriors! Let all the soldiers report and march! Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your pruning
knives into spears; Let the weakling boast, I am a warrior! Of these passages, which shows

How Long Break Dna Research Paper
Ok let s break DNA down first. DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid. Deoxyribose is referred to the
absence of an O in the Carbon 2 of the ribose pentose. DNA is made up of six smaller molecules a five
carbon sugar called deoxyribose, a phosphate molecule and four different nitrogenous bases adenine,
thymine, cytosine and guanine. The basic building block of DNA is called a NUCLEOTIDE. A
nucleotide is made up of one sugar molecule, one phosphate molecule and one of the four bases. In
other words, the sugar that makes DNA is ribose a pentose sugar in the case of this molecule DNA its
lacking an Oxygen in its carbon 2. Nucleic is referred to its position, our DNA most anyways is

To sum this up DNA is an electronegative molecule with a lacking Oxygen found in the nuclei of
Eukaryotes. Now let s go deeper, DNA is not only composed of Sugar, it is also composed of a
phosphate backbone, and nitrogenous bases. The phosphate backbone generally expressed as PO4^ 3
provides support for the nitrogenous bases [also bonding through ester bonds. The nitrogenous bases
in DNA are divided into two Purines [Adenine and Guanine] and Pyrimidines [Thymine, Cytosine,
and uracil in RNA] Purines are double ring structures, and Pyrimidines are Single ringed. In other
words, they provide the perfect asymmetry of the DNA double helix. When Watson and Crick did
their DNA model, they noticed that two Purines bonded together meaning for instance A G was too
wide, and too Pyrimidines bonded together would be too thin. But how did they know which was
which? It was found that Adenine always double bonds with hydrogen bonds of course with Thymine,
and that Guanine will always triple hydrogen bond with

How An Enterprise Data Warehouse ( Edw ) Can Help Manage...
Abstract
High risk patient populations are generally small, however, they account for a large portion of
healthcare costs. For example, the costs to Medicare for treating heart failure (HF) exceeds $17 billion
a year, with readmissions contributing significantly to the cost (Health Catalyst, 2016). These costs are
unsustainable, which why the US healthcare system is beginning to shift towards alternative payment
structures like value based reimbursement (VBR). To remain successful in this changing landscape,
healthcare organizations (HCOs) will need to improve how they manage high risk patient populations.
Health information technology could be a tool that helps. This paper explores the benefits of how an
enterprise data warehouse (EDW) can help HCOs manage their population of high risk patients. This
paper also recommends the type of EDW best suited to handle complex healthcare data and provides a
framework for a phased implementation

How Did The Enlightenment Influence The American Revolution
During the American Revolution many of the ideas of Enlightenment were used as the guidelines that
influenced things such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Key figures and
innovators like Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln, who have been greatly influenced by the
ideas of Enlightenment, founded the United States. This is one of the key periods in time that helped
shaped the United States to the way it is has become today. The Enlightenment has produced a number

Such events changed the English government and the conflict between the monarch and Parliament

were led to believe that God created an orderly universe, while some citizens believed that its laws
could be discovered through human reasoning and logic. Many of these influential leaders wanted to
apply the laws that ruled nature to people and society. These new ideas played a big role in the affect
of political thinking in Europe and the America. Another way that the Enlightenment helped to shape
some of the colonies was in the terms of religion and prayer. The Great Awakening was known as a
new understanding of America s relationship to God and the Church. Instead of one dominate and
powerful church, Protestant ideals based on Enlightenment principles of free will and freedom from
institutions were allowed by people to choose a membership in a specific church rather than being
forced into one. During the Enlightenment, the colonies were still very religious but believed that they

Lyndon B Johnson Accomplishments
Lyndon B. Johnson had only served one term, but he surprisingly accomplished a lot during his only
term. Johnson had the ability to pass the acts that Kennedy created during his time in office. Some of
these accomplishments include: Medicare and Medicaid, Education acts, and the Civil Rights acts. In
order to continue his war on poverty, he established Medicare and Medicaid to aid poor families and
the elderly. To further help families in need, as well as children, Johnson passed education acts to fix
and create more public schools in poor areas. Lastly, civil rights acts were passed to give better
opportunities for blacks within the United States. While these acts were based on Kennedy s ideas,
Johnson found the way to put them into place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Medicare and Medicaid federal programs were put in place as a way to help the less fortunate.
Individuals with severe disabilities or over the age of 65 qualify for Medicare. This program helps
them with health coverage, so the disabled and elderly who have Medicare do not have to worry about
their medical bills and not going to the hospital when they are sick. Medicaid is a similar program,
however, it only applies to low income families who cannot provide for their children. Similar to
Medicare, this program covers any health related problems and takes away the worry and troubles that
come with hospital bills.
Continuing his war on poverty, Johnson passed numerous education bills and acts. The Higher
Education Act of 1965 has had great impact on the American education system. In addition to helping
low income students, this program created scholarships, which created more opportunities for students
living in poverty. The Bilingual Education act of 1968 created a pathway for equal education for
students who could speak little to no English. While it didn t do much, the amendments added to this
act later on helped give children equal opportunities in

What Does Shukhov Mean To Me
I just spent twenty minutes trying to decide what I want for breakfast by reading over a 30 page
nutrition guide. Then I cracked open my book and read, Apart from sleep, the only time a prisoner
lives for himself is ten minutes in the morning at breakfast, five minutes over dinner, and five at

it. If it were up to me I could eat a half gallon of my favorite ice cream in one sitting. Shukhov, like
many others today, could only dream about eating as much as his heart desired. No matter what or
how much food he had, he always saved part of it. He was not just saving food, he was saving strength

When Bob Iger succeeded Michael Eisner, he was considered a safe Mr. Inside who was a competent
operator and an unobjectionable personality.
Iger has steered Disney shrewdly since succeeding Michael Eisner. Where Eisner seemed forever
awash in controversies, Iger has chosen a shrewder, less confrontational path. It has helped Iger build
a stellar reputation on Wall Street, where the money barons don t like provocation.
His calmer approach helped repair key relationships that were strained during Eisners reign as CEO.
He believed in being productive instead of fighting wars and that gave a sign of relief to the company.
He was not too adherent to the company tradition rather he focused on being more innovative. He
encouraged risk taking as a means of innovation and development. He took risk to expand Disney

Teratogenic Effects Of Alcohol On Fetus
Effects of Alcohol on Fetus
Teratogen Defined. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy is known to have teratogenic effects.
Teratogen means that a particular agent is known to cause abnormalities on a developing embryo. The
teratogenic effect the alcohol will have on the embryo is highly dependent on dose and frequency of
consumption. As stated in the medical journal, Alcohol Abuse In Women, Exposure to heavy drinking
(over 48 60 gr. ethanol/day) may cause fetal alcohol syndrome; exposure to moderately high drinking,
between 24 48 gr. ethanol/day which may result mostly in alcohol effects.... (Ornoy, Ergaz 2010).

These three Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders may have mild to severe effects on the fetus. Fetal
Alcohol Syndrome, is known for the physical abnormalities it causes. Children with Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome have abnormal facial features, such as a smooth ridge between the nose and upper lip, small
head size, shorter than average height and low body weight. FAS also causes problems in the central
nervous system and may cause a wide range of behavioral issues (CDC,2015). Alcohol Related
Neurodevelopmental Disorder has properties that may not be readily visible right after birth. The
reason being that the disorder is based on the effects it has on the child intellectually and behaviorally.
These effects are prominently seen when the child is older. These children have difficulties with math,
memory, attention, judgment, and impulse control (CDC, 2015). The last Fetal Alcohol Spectrum
Disorder that will be discussed is Alcohol Related Birth Defects (ARBD). The defects associated with
this disorder are problems with the heart, kidneys, bones and hearing. Other consequences of alcohol
consumption while pregnant include spontaneous abortion, sleep and sucking problems as a baby, and
death. All of these consequences can be easily prevented if a mother chooses to abstain from drinking
while she is pregnant.

How Did Television Shaped American Culture
Television during this time greatly shaped American culture. Televisions were affordable and middle
class America began to invest in them. The technology developed which allowed the networks NBC,
CBS and ABC, to broadcast TV in real time. The moment was realized during the 1952 presidential
election. Broadcasters were able to show the Democratic and Republican conventions live. This was
important because rural America was able to see in real time Dwight Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson

about 45 million. The amount of TV stations grew from a mere 69 to almost 570. The amount of
Americans with at least one TV grew to 96% of America by 1970.

Petri Plate Discussion
To obtain some organisms, I took four samples from four different environments and put them on a
petri plate. The petri plate was then put in the incubator at 37°C for forty eight hours (Lammert, 2007).
Out of four, samples A and D grew nothing and sample B had some growth but not much. As a result I
had to choose two unknown organism, that were possibly different, from the third quadrant. This
quadrant, which I refer to as sample C, was taken using a wet swab on the border of my right shoe.
From a spot where the white border had an orange tint. In that quadrant, specimen Ca. came from a
lone circular spot near the rim whereas specimen Cb. came from a fibrous colony near the tip of the
quadrant. To gather more information on the two specimens, I incubated each specimen in a petri plate
for forty eight hours at 37°C. After, I isolated each specimen using a streak plate and incubated them
for twenty four hours at 37°C (Lammert, 2007). Using the petri plate, I determine that the specimen
Ca. has an elevation, which I considered in between raised and convex. I also notice that the specimen
Ca. has a smooth texture but does have small crack like patterns in it. After incubating the 27°C and

  • 2. Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet And Edward Taylor Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor are two of the most distinguished and fervent Puritan poets. Yet this similarity has proven to be one of the few, if not only between these two. One cannot help but find it intriguing that poets who belong to the same religious group and style would write so differently. Many of these differences are not even subtle or hidden beneath the text itself. The differences themselves hold implications and ideas that differ between each poet. The first difference which is the most obvious would be the style of each respected poet. Every poet has a unique style, but generally those who belong to the same period or set of ideas have similar styles. Between Bradstreet and Taylor there are no similarities in style. Taylor can be considered a much more polished poet. Taylor s poetry is full of poetic techniques and advanced styling tools such as the iambic meter and advanced rhyming schemes. This style can be seen as the norm for a highly educated preacher which Taylor was. Bradstreet on the other hand has a more simplistic style that can be seen as the voice of the common or average Puritan. Therefore, there is far less ornamentation in her poetry. If one compares the Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666. and Taylor s From God s Determinations. One can see the difference in syntax clearly. Bradstreet uses simple diction while tackling the topic of her burning house. She uses simple and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Shirley Jackson Satire Shirley Jackson was an author who wasn t well known at first, but her literary works brought her recognition, including the short story, The Lottery , a mandatory reading in many high schools. She wrote many other stories such as Charles and The Possibility of Evil , these works influenced by her life. The dark moods of her stories sourced first from her abuse as a child, but these are what made her stories unique. In her story The Possibility of Evil , Shirley Jackson creates this heavy mood of hatred and despair by combining her unique uses of ellipses, adjective focused word choice, and vivid descriptions of setting. The story follows an elderly lady named Miss Strangeworth, who believes it is her duty to protect her townspeople from evil by alerting them to situations with her letters, but in reality, is only creating more evil and tension with her paranoia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She uses tons of ellipses to create moments of suspense in the story, as foreshadowing, and to pause after intense descriptions of setting. For example, when she uses them at the end of a sentence, she creates tension because it leaves the reader uncertain of what will happen. Jackson combines this with actions in The Possibility of Evil , by describing Miss Strangeworth Then she went into her supper... after her dishes were done, and the kitchen set in order, she... set off on her evening walk, pocketbook under her arm... • 4. Crime And Punishment By Fyrodor Doveskey The Theorized Extraordinary to the Ordinary Romantic The human race remembers people in history who fought for something they believed in. For example, both Neapolitan Bonaparte and George Washington killed other people in battle, because they had something that they believed worthy to fight for regardless of the established and universal law against killing. In Raskolnikov`s words from Crime and Punishment, they were extraordinary men. These men, according to Raskolnikov, had the right to commit any crime, because they were leading ordinary people into a new and improved society, without any moral repercussions. However, it becomes clear throughout the novel that he does feel guilty. For example, when Raskolnikov helps Semyon Zakharovich Marmeladov return to his family after he is ran over, Raskolnikov walks away feeling like he has somewhat atoned for his sins. Also, proving that Raskolnikov feels guilty for what he did is that, at the end of the novel, Raskolnikov confesses in the street, even though there was someone charged with the crime already. If, according to Raskolnikov, an extraordinary man, which he believes himself to be, should feel no guilt, then why does Raskolnikov feel the need to atone for his sins by helping Semyon Zakharovick Marmeladov`s family and then eventually ... • 5. Analysis Of The Book The Sign Of The Beaver By... Located in the Eastern Woodlands of Maine are the Penobscot Native Americans. Formally known as the Penobscot tribe of Maine, they are now known as The Penobscot Nation. One can glean knowledge of this tribe through the historical fiction novel The Sign of the Beaver, by Elizabeth George Speare, and the article Penobscot, from Wikipedia.org. The novel is the story of a 12 year old boy s experience and interaction with the tribe after he finds himself left alone in the wilderness of Maine. The article is a non fiction work describing the history, culture, and daily life of the tribe. Though both pieces revolve around the indigenous people, they are written from different perspectives. They also contrast in author s purpose. The article neutrally informs the reader about the tribe, whereas the novel presents its information subjectively through the main character s feelings and emotions. Though writing sources differ in their genre, they can still share similarities. The book by Elizabeth George Speare and the article from Wikipedia demonstrates a closeness between each other. In the novel The Sign of the Beaver, Matt, the main character, is introduced to the Penobscot tribe after he falls out of a tree while being attacked by a swarm of angry bees. Fortunately, Saknis, the Penobscot leader, saves his life and as payment he forces Matt to teach Attean, his grandson, English. Blake s point of views and associations with the characters represents a change in the way the reader dictates who the victim is really and who is not. In Blake s The Chimney Sweeper from the Songs of Innocence and Experience, both aspects of heaven and hell can be examined just the same as a good versus evil aspect of the two different styles of the poem. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Highly critical poems on rationality, normality and societal parameters are not uncommon and a trademark of Blake s later, far more bitter poetry. As a social commentator, a number of issues relevant at the time were the inspiration behind gloomy works such as The Chimney Sweeper regarding industrialization and, from the Songs of Experience. Blake was society s unwillingness to accept and recognize new ideas and opportunities for change. Stating at one point that these reservations were an enemy to social progression . To be condemned in a society that is much Blake s as well as anyone else s is a torment that would be felt on all of his art. The Chimney Sweeper from William Blake s Songs of Innocence comprises songs of happy cheer about field and flower, hill and stream, and the innocence of child and lamb, as seen through the eyes of a child (World Book vol.2 pg 314). In one excerpt, The Chimney Sweeper, Blake, through religious symbolism, gives the image of an innocence child living a life of hardship and grief that gains comfort from the knowledge that God will deliver him to a better life in heaven. Compared to this simulation they were based in the financial realm focused on stocks and bonds. However, they all share a similar aspect in regards that their ultimate goal to maximize profit. Ultimately I ended up doing three different runs through the simulation that each had unique results. My best results showed a profit of $37.5 million and a market share of just under 50% for the state of Florida. During my first run through of the simulations I had simple strategy which was to mimic the prices of the competition. I matched the prices of competitor for both weekend and weekday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, at the same time I believed that because there was only a little gap in market share, the reputation of Universal was greater than its competition and the price difference was the reason for the market share gap. Therefore, I lowered the prices to be comparative to the competitor and my theory was correct and the market share flipped and Universal gained more as the months progressed. This process is what I would implement on a larger scale in my second simulation run. Throughout my second run in the simulation I altered my strategy to have my prices lower then competition and it backfired greatly on me. My thought process for this was that having lower prices would definitely raise market share as consumers would chose the cheaper costs. At the same time I envisioned the drop in prices would result in more consumers switching companies and renting from Universal, but I was wrong. The results of this simulation ended with a loss of over $11 million but a market share of over 50%. My error for this simulation was that I relied too much on lowering prices. In the first simulation the last three months were the competition increased their prices and there were no change to universal resulted in losses of profits. I took that as not adjusting the prices and not that my prices were too low. However, after the second simulation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Damn Daniel, made by Josh Holz, was a video in which Holz would admire his friend Daniel s shoes and yell Damn, Daniel! The February after the video went viral Holz s family was attacked. An unknown party reported to the police that there was a shooting at Holz s home and a SWAT team raided his home. They cannot speak without swearing. Many, when they testify, show a complete lack of empathy and are unable to conceal a morality based on the satisfaction of immediate, base needs. Most jurors are white and are appalled by the demeanor of uneducated, criminal blacks . The prevalent attitudes of the American Public in the 1930 s are brazenly conveyed in this quote. Harper Lee presents the problem of racism specifically in the trial of Tom Robinson a black man unfairly convicted of rape by Mayella Ewell, Robert Ewell s daughter. The courtroom setting entitles the reader to identify an extensive range of characters, with varying social statuses, backgrounds and idiosyncrasies, representing a complete society itself. The heavy use of dialogue and symbolism throughout the trial also enables the reader to view other s predispositions of black people, as well as Scout s detached insight into the case as a young girl, and her reflection of it as a woman, creating a contemplative chapter. When Tom is responding questions asked by Judge Taylor, Atticus and Mr. Gilmer, he explains that Mayella approached him, causing him to flee as he was scared. Tom stated, No suh, she she hugged me. Analysis Of The Movie Gosford Park In thinking about the English country house and the lifestyle that came with it, it is undeniable that what often comes to mind is the forms of conspicuous consumption that were displayed both inside the country house, and also on the country house inhabitants. In placing the country in this time period, Altman was able to employ symbolisms that Morris Weissman, as both an American and a filmmaker, could represent. Indeed, there is a sort of irony in that the murder mystery plot of Gosford Park was exactly what Weissman wanted to capture for his own fictional movie: Charlie Chan in London. The movie begins with the guests and servants assembling at Gosford Park for a shooting party hosted by Sir William McCordle. The housekeeper, Mrs. Wilson, promptly organizes the guests valets and personal maids in their lodgings, also making sure all the luggage and guns are in their proper places. Altman, during the mingling of the guests and servants before dinner, portrays the complicated relationships between and among those in the house. Servants gossip amongst each other while the guests upstairs are constantly flirting and glaring at one another. The following event is the dinner, both for the guests and the servants. In the downstairs, dinner is separated between the kitchen staff and the house staff, due to the disagreements between Mrs. Wilson and the head cook, Mrs. Croft. While the American Colonists were being taxed unfairly without parliamentary representation, average modern Americans are being taxed unfairly without legal representation. Some hold the belief that the progressive tax code employed by the United States to be fair as the wealthy pay a higher marginal tax rate. The operative word there being marginal. As the upper class typically has a much lower effective tax rate since they are able to afford tax attorneys who are able to find many deductions that average citizens are unaware of. Mitt Romney is a prime example of low effective rates of taxation. There are many verses such as this that express the longing for a culture without violence that is attributed to the ethical values of Judaism. Upon further research including an ethnographic study it was clear that followers of Judaism truly value the culture of non violence. It is these ethics and values within the Judaistic tradition for the development of non violence that are invaluable for contemporary society as they help to create a safer civilisation. Firstly, the Torah or Hebrew bible has many different examples and teachings on violence, non violence, punishment and war (Freeman, 2015). Isaiah 2:4 states He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares And their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. The thirst for a world without violence is clearly portrayed in this passage and it appears to reflect one of the strongest values of Judaism. However in Joel 4:9 10 this idiom is reused in a far more barbaric manner (Heft, 2004). Announce this to the nations: Proclaim a holy war! Alert the warriors! Let all the soldiers report and march! • 36. Case Conflict at Walt Disney Management Organization ____________________________________________________________________________ Week 6 Case Assignment 1. How would you describe the conflict between Michael Eisner and the Weinstein brother, the two board members (Disney and Gold), and Steve Jobs Was it functional or dysfunctional? The functional conflict is defined as a confrontation between groups that enhances and benefits the organization s performance while dysfunctional conflict is defined as any confrontation or interaction between groups that harms the organization or hinders the achievement or organizational goals. Though, a point the Ivancevich makes is that in most cases, the point at which functional confrontation becomes dysfunctional is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compromise is a good backup strategy that conflicting parties can fall back on if their attempts at problem solving are unsuccessful. 3. To what degree do you think Iger s calmer and less confrontational approach to running Disney has helped the company position itself to survive a major economic recession? When Bob Iger succeeded Michael Eisner, he was considered a safe Mr. Inside who was a competent operator and an unobjectionable personality. Iger has steered Disney shrewdly since succeeding Michael Eisner. Where Eisner seemed forever awash in controversies, Iger has chosen a shrewder, less confrontational path. It has helped Iger build a stellar reputation on Wall Street, where the money barons don t like provocation. His calmer approach helped repair key relationships that were strained during Eisners reign as CEO. He believed in being productive instead of fighting wars and that gave a sign of relief to the company. He was not too adherent to the company tradition rather he focused on being more innovative. He encouraged risk taking as a means of innovation and development. He took risk to expand Disney business adding broad mix of business to its portfolio like ABC family, ESPN and Disney channels. He bought Pixar for $7.4 billion in 2006, gaining unmatched creative resources as well as the close counsel of Pixar founder Steve Jobs (whose estate is Disney s single largest shareholder). • 37. Yellowstone National Park Observation Report The national park system has become an invaluable laboratory for researchers while also being popular travel destinations for tourists looking to relax, learn, and reconnect with nature. It is through family trips to these national treasures that I became interested in studying more about the natural world at the university. Yellowstone National Park, which I visited over a decade ago, has recently been in the news for its successful reintroduction of wolves into the park grounds. However, a new article from The New York Times raises concern over the reintroduction of hunting, which threatens not only the wolf population, but ongoing research and a thriving tourist economy. The depletion and extirpation of wolves in the national park occurred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Teratogenic Effects Of Alcohol On Fetus Effects of Alcohol on Fetus Teratogen Defined. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy is known to have teratogenic effects. Teratogen means that a particular agent is known to cause abnormalities on a developing embryo. The teratogenic effect the alcohol will have on the embryo is highly dependent on dose and frequency of consumption. As stated in the medical journal, Alcohol Abuse In Women, Exposure to heavy drinking (over 48 60 gr. ethanol/day) may cause fetal alcohol syndrome; exposure to moderately high drinking, between 24 48 gr. ethanol/day which may result mostly in alcohol effects.... (Ornoy, Ergaz 2010). Aside, from developing Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), the developing fetus is at risk of also developing Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders may have mild to severe effects on the fetus. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, is known for the physical abnormalities it causes. Children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome have abnormal facial features, such as a smooth ridge between the nose and upper lip, small head size, shorter than average height and low body weight. FAS also causes problems in the central nervous system and may cause a wide range of behavioral issues (CDC,2015). Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder has properties that may not be readily visible right after birth. The reason being that the disorder is based on the effects it has on the child intellectually and behaviorally. These effects are prominently seen when the child is older. These children have difficulties with math, memory, attention, judgment, and impulse control (CDC, 2015). The last Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder that will be discussed is Alcohol Related Birth Defects (ARBD). The defects associated with this disorder are problems with the heart, kidneys, bones and hearing. Other consequences of alcohol consumption while pregnant include spontaneous abortion, sleep and sucking problems as a baby, and death. All of these consequences can be easily prevented if a mother chooses to abstain from drinking while she is pregnant. References Ornoy, A. , Ergaz, Z. (2013). • 39. How Did Television Shaped American Culture Television during this time greatly shaped American culture. Televisions were affordable and middle class America began to invest in them. The technology developed which allowed the networks NBC, CBS and ABC, to broadcast TV in real time. The moment was realized during the 1952 presidential election. Broadcasters were able to show the Democratic and Republican conventions live. This was important because rural America was able to see in real time Dwight Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson running against each other. From 1949 to 1969 the amount of televisions grew from one million to about 45 million. The amount of TV stations grew from a mere 69 to almost 570. The amount of Americans with at least one TV grew to 96% of America by 1970. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Petri Plate Discussion To obtain some organisms, I took four samples from four different environments and put them on a petri plate. The petri plate was then put in the incubator at 37°C for forty eight hours (Lammert, 2007). Out of four, samples A and D grew nothing and sample B had some growth but not much. As a result I had to choose two unknown organism, that were possibly different, from the third quadrant. This quadrant, which I refer to as sample C, was taken using a wet swab on the border of my right shoe. From a spot where the white border had an orange tint. In that quadrant, specimen Ca. came from a lone circular spot near the rim whereas specimen Cb. came from a fibrous colony near the tip of the quadrant. To gather more information on the two specimens, I incubated each specimen in a petri plate for forty eight hours at 37°C. After, I isolated each specimen using a streak plate and incubated them for twenty four hours at 37°C (Lammert, 2007). Using the petri plate, I determine that the specimen Ca. has an elevation, which I considered in between raised and convex. I also notice that the specimen Ca. has a smooth texture but does have small crack like patterns in it. After incubating the 27°C and 37°C temperature plate, I observed that specimen Ca. has a lobate margin. From the petri plate for specimen Cb, I determined that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this test, I found that both of my organisms Ca. and Cb. cannot grow at 5°C or 60°C. From the temperature plates I also inferred that both organism can grow at 27°C and 37°C. Although for specimen Cb. I have determine that its optimum growth temperature is around 37°C. As for specimen Ca. it must have an optimum growth temperature ranging between 27°C and 37°C but closer to 37°C. I have determined this range due to observing possible spores while looking at a gram stain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
