Feminism In Shashi Deshpande
Shashi Deshpande is a known name in the world of Literature today. She writes about the Indian soil,
spreading its fragrance all over the world. Writing on Indian womanhood, she does not personalise
incidents or situations. Her aim is to enlighten women folk to stand for their own rights.
It is note worthy that the women are the sufferers and then, they are oppressors also. Works have been
done on the poor plight of women, especially in India but it has been a tedious task to mark out the
traces of women dominion in Deshpande novels. The artistic beauty of the author lies in being able to
project both sides of the coin. She has never been defensive about womanhood, although a male writer
is acclaimed as a writer whereas if a woman attempts to write, she is tagged as feminist. When a man

Shashi Deshpande is hailed because she has an infinite aptitude to sketch the other side of womanhood
too the darker, the oppressor, the matriarch woman.
Saru s mother in The Dark Holds No Terrors keeps dominating her from the beginning but when her
brother Dhruva is drowned she becomes furious. Saru had only been a child. Her fault was that she
was a girl child. Saru s mother goes to the extent of telling her, Why didn t you die? Why are you
alive, when he s dead? (The Dark Holds No Terrors 191)
Beyond imagination, a mother can be such impudent with her own child just because she is a female
child. A mother wishing her daughter dead can be the crudest form of patriarchy supported by women.
These words get carved so deep inside her mind that Saru becomes a rebel against her mother. Not
only this, she could not develop the rationale of judgement and decision making being suppressed
always. Moreover, the guidance of her mother could have helped her but neither her mother bothered
nor she cared for the

Analysis Of The Hollow Men
A Short Analysis and Discussion for the piece: The Hollow Men In various occasions, the human race
tends to make several mistakes throughout the span of their lives. In the poem, The Hollow Men,
written by Thomas Stearns Eliot, is not exactly the most uplifting of poetic literature. Although, the
poem does have some underlying value to its notion; it emphasizes moral values, responsibility, and a
depiction of the aftermath of World War I. T.S. Eliot depicts the poem s message into five sections; the
first, speaks of a group of individual human beings who are characterized as We are the hollow men,
We are the stuffed men ... Headpiece filled with straw and basically confusing the reader. Eliot is
trying to represent a group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once more, the emphasis on detail for the individuals is necessary for Eliot to elaborate for the reader
and allow it to create hollowness and sense of emptiness. Lastly, the final section of the poem is the
huge downer of the entire poem. It starts with a nursery rhyme Here we go round the prickly pear
which analyzes the surroundings once again and finally explains the reason for the immobility and
lifeless presence of the individuals. The poem states, Between the motion, And the act, Falls the
Shadow emphasis on the Shadow, which has now taken control of their actions, they cannot even
exist. Eliot actually slowly starts write human expressions but then it quickly dies away with him
depicting how the fate of the human race will fall Not with a bang but a whimper . As a conclusion,
this poem has quite a few ties in with several of Eliot s works and other writers. Vincent Persichetti, a
composer of the Modern Era in music, actually composed a work The Hollow Men for Trumpet and
String Orchestra in 1944, nearly 20 years later since The Hollow Men was actually written. The piece
highly resembles the written work because of how hollow and dissonant the piece is. Persichetti s
talents could be seen in this piece and is most notably one of his finest works. The piece premiered in
1946 for the first and T. S. Eliot later received the

Examples Of Skepticism In The Truman Show
The Truman Show introduces us to a man named Truman who is living a fake life, a life in which
everything around him has been scripted out by a director of a television show. He was adopted at
birth and raised inside a television studio that was made to resemble the real world. However, Truman
is unaware that he has been the star of a television show since birth and thanks to free will, he
continues to live life as a normal person. Meanwhile, the director, Christof attempts to control every
aspect of Truman s life as if to lead him to take certain actions and to think a certain way.
Like so many other philosophical issues, the problem of skepticism can be traced back as far as the
ancient Greeks. Nevertheless, it was Descartes who placed this ... Show more content on

Given the logical possibility that such a creature exists, how can we be certain that our beliefs about
the world are not radically mistaken? How, Descartes asked, can we be certain that we are all not
utterly deceived? The Truman Show presents a similar skeptical problem, but in the most convincing
of ways. Christof is clearly the evil genius that Descartes described, but whereas Descartes fatal
demon is a creature of pure fantasy, the character of Christof and the conspiracy that he orchestrates
seem dangerously real. In Descartes Second Meditation he says, I suppose, then, that all the things that
I see are false, I persuade myself that nothing has ever existed of all that my fallacious memory
represents to me . In the Truman show, Truman finds himself believing that the world around him is
the real world, however he is being deceived. Would Truman have been better off believing Descartes
words? Descartes attempts to question how he is supposed to understand the world around him as real.
Through thinking and questioning, Descartes knows himself, and his mind to be real. However, he still
has an uncertainty about the world around him. Descartes concludes the Second Meditations by posing
that, because it is

Native American Role Model
Being Native American it is always your goal to graduate high school first, and to go to college. I
would love to be someone to bring the knowledge back to my community. Native Americans are
known for having the highest dropout rate and the lowest college graduation rate. I could help the
Lumbee Tribe change their statistics of Lumbee Indians attending a four year university. Overall,
make high education changes who we are as people. Having the younger generation in my community
see me make something out of myself could create a role model to them and give them the tools in
order for them to achieve their goals also. Out of all my family I will be the first to go to college.

Mrs Bennet Satirized Essay
Mrs. Bennet being satirized in Jane Austen s Pride and prejudice Jane Austen satirizes Mrs. Bennet for
her foolishness, lack of intelligence, being overly dramatic, and her obsession over marriage. It then
affects her relationships with her daughters and the connection they share, it also affects the
relationships with her neighbors, family, and friends as she comes off as pushy or annoying. In order
to ultimately criticize how Mrs. Bennet is overly involved in her children s life and unable to relax.
Mrs. Bennet is being satirized for her obsession over marriage. Throughout the novel, Mrs. Bennet s
main priority is to get all of her daughters married. For instance when Mrs. Bennet first heard about
Mr. Bingley moving in her first thought was how he would make such a good man for one of her
daughters to marry. Mr., Bennet says , Oh! single, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bennet is satirized for her lack of intelligence and how careless she is. For example when Lydia runs
away with Wickham she was all worried in the beginning but she then finds out that they are getting
married and she s is no longer sad and upset, suddenly she is happy and isn t mad at anyone. Mrs,
Bennet says, My dear, dear Lydia! she cried: This is delightful indeed! She will be married! I shall see
her again! She will be married at sixteen! My good, kind brother! I knew how it would be (247). This
shows satire because Mrs. Bennet should still be worried, her youngest daughter has still run away
from home but because Mrs. Bennet is careless and has different priorities it s okay. Mrs. Bennet also
gets satirized because in this passage she does not have the normal reaction of a mother, she is happy.
Also before Mrs. Bennet was given the news about Lydia being married Mrs. Bennet was so worried
and upset, she was blaming everyone and it was a horrible thing that she had run away but then she
heard the news and was excited and happy and back to her regular self

Willy feels that if he takes the job offer from his friend Charley who is more successful than him, it
will look like he is failing and in need of help. Charley, being the nice person he is, sees a friend in
need of a little help and offers to help him become stable with a job, but Willy takes it a different way
than it is intended. One literary critic observes Willy s insecurity and describes it by writing, Instead of
accepting it, Willy assures him that he already has a job, and that he likes being a salesman. The truth
is that Willy has just been fired. Charley does not understand why Willy will not work for him because
it is a guaranteed salary (Campo). Willy would rather lie to someone and struggle without a job rather
than take a job and have a better life with the guaranteed salary. Willy has let his overwhelming pride
get to him, and it has weighed him down in becoming successful in the long

November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, and he was the sixth child of John and Jane Clemens. His
father was always searching for wealth, but he never achieved it, and he often times found it hard to

distinct writing style, where everything was funny and friendly, but also scornful, ironic, and sarcastic.
He wrote Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog, earning his big break. His next jump into success came
from his cruise along the Mediterranean, where he wrote humorously for newspaper, also hoping to
get a book out of the trip. At the age of 34, he published The Innocents Abroad, and he became a best

where he saw how slaves and Native Americans were treated. Huck Finn is an orphan who travels
with a freed slave named Jim. Another experience, such as the fact that his father and a few of his
siblings died when he was young, shaped his writing of Huckleberry Finn. Young Huck Finn

According to an article by Charles Oliver, The Harrison school district in Colorado has barred a
student from attending classes if he takes medicine to control his seizures, states that The boy was
prescribed a lozenge containing THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. The school said he couldn t
bring the pills to school because it would violate its zero tolerance policy on drugs (Oliver). Without
the pills containing THC, the young boy could have a seizure. If medicinal marijuana was legal, this

The Human Diet Essay
Introduction You are what you eat is a common phrase amongst parents attempting to convince their
children to trade their candy in for some vegetables. As it turns out, this saying holds more truth than
one may think. The human diet has played a major role in our evolution. Not only has human
evolution shaped our diet, but our diet has shaped us. The relationship between man and diet
throughout time is complex, and not completely clear. However, what information we can gather
about the diet of our ancestors may help to explain how what we eat affects us today. Our diet paved
the way for us to evolve the traits that now define us as human, such as our bipedal stance, more
developed brains, and ability to manipulate tools. It also resulted in a disconnect between our
nutritional needs and the foods we actually consumed due to the rapid changes in our diet during
agricultural and industrial revolutions. This disconnect manifested itself in the form of chronic
diseases. The leading three causes of death in America are heart disease, cancer, and chronic lower
respiratory diseases, all of which are linked to dietary intake. Examining how our diet evolved can
give us insight as to why these diseases are so prevalent in our society, and how we can potentially
adjust our diets to foster a healthier society for the future. Dietary evolution of early hominids For the
purpose of simplicity, the diet of australopithecines will used as the foundation of which the human
diet evolved

case is about how Couch essentially killed four people but got out of doing time in prison because of
money and his inability to make good decisions thanks to his parents and wealth. The author of this
paper believes that Ethan Couch should have gotten harsher sentencing. The sentence should have

term was only brought up by a witness during the Couch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Affluenza was used as a reason for Couch needing to have his charges lessened, but in looking
through reasons that someone can have their sentence lessened Affluenza was not among them. The
term itself is just a mix of affluence and influenza. Neither of these things would lessen a sentence in
court by itself, and affluenza is not term even used in any courts nor does it hold weight as a term.
Ethan Couch was old enough to make decisions by himself. He would have known that drinking
heavily and driving was a bad decision. If he had just acted his age he would have either asked
someone to drive him of gotten a taxi to go home, and avoided the whole incident and not had to go to
court. He was 16 years old at the time of the case so he would have known what he did was wrong.
The final issue with the term Affluenza is that the term itself gives rich people the right to say that
Affluenza was the cause of their crime. If Affluenza is to be used as a valid excuse for a crime then
other people would be able to create their own special reason for why they did their crime. Any rich
person or semi wealthy person could say that they or a relative were affected by Affluenza and could
get away with the least possible punishment when they should have gotten a worse

this possible? Technology has advanced incredibly quickly over the last hundred years, with
developments such as the Internet and the smart phone. Along with this technology has come a lot of
developments in the robotics industry. Robotic surgeons, controlled by professionals, have hands

Sensors like these protect against most accidents already, and make up for any amount of human error
that might put a driver in some amount of peril. The ultrasonic sensors tell the car whether or not there
are bumps on the road, or if it s approaching a curb, something a human is not always capable of
doing, and the lidar on top identifies lane markers and the edges of the road by bouncing light off of
them. Sensors on self driving cars take out all the guess work usually involved in driving a car out of
the equation. While all of these sensors work together to steer the car away from danger, occasionally,
says Olivia Solon, data amassed by all the sensors can conflict with each other, resulting in a
dangerous situation referred to as sensor fusion. This fusion of sensors has already resulted in a fatal
crash involving a tester of a self driving Tesla car; the sensors produced conflicting data, and as a
result mistook a truck for an overhead road sign, causing the car to run directly into the truck.
Therefore, while these numerous sensors are instrumental to the driverless car, they are still in
development and not yet safe to trust with human lives. GPS tracking and positioning is also
incorporated into every automated car, for the self evident purpose of informing driver and car where
they are and where they re going. Some cars

Difficulties Of Defining Terrorism Has Changed Our Lives
Difficulties of Defining Terrorism
Christine King

Dr. Alanna Smith
July 12, 2015
Abstract
Terrorism has been around for hundreds of years and through the years the definition of terrorism has
changed. While the United States knew of terrorism it wasn t a main stream issue for Americans, these
types of activities happened in other countries, not ours. Unfortunately that is not true, which we
found that terrorism can and did reach our shores and change our lives, this unfortunate realization
took place on September 11, 2001. Of course this was not the first terrorist activity that occurred on
American soil, it is just the one that slapped American s in the face telling us that American was not
untouchable , we are just as vulnerable as other countries. Defining terrorism has been an issue for
many years, the different branches of the federal government cannot even agree on a definition of
what terrorism is let alone different countries. To back up the above I have listed some of the different
definitions from different branches of the federal government and from other countries (White, J.
2014).
The Intelligence Community is guided by the definition of terrorism contained in Title 22 of the US
Code, Section 2656f(d): (www.cia.gov) o The term terrorism means premeditated, politically
motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine
agents. o The term international terrorism means terrorism involving the

The Lion s Body
Introduction: The Panthera Leo, also known as the lion, is a member of the cat family, and shares
many common traits of this family. The lion s body is very muscular, with less bone mass than other
animals of comparable size. This allows the lion to make powerful blows with its forepaws heavy
enough to break a zebra s back. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements quiet enough to sneak
up on prey. Lions walk on their toes which means they are digitigrade walkers. The claws on the paw
grow as a series of layers. As a layer wears, the layers shed, and a new sharp pointed claw is then
exposed. The lion s body is covered with a brown coat, but sometimes, a white variant that shows up.

When a lion kills/threatens a farmer or a rancher s livelihood, that individual is likely to poach or
poison the lion in retaliation. Farmers and Ranchers are more likely to kill the lion to make sure they
won t their crops or livestock don t get threatened. Moreover, conservation groups work with people
living in lion territories, educating them about the lion s ecological importance, and developing cheap
ways to protect their subsistence.
Evidence of Evolution:
The lion s most common and recent ancestor lived around 124,000 years ago. Learning about the lion
s history has been difficult since animals living in tropical areas tend to leave fewer fossilized remains
behind. Around the time of the earliest lion s ancestor (124,000 years ago), tropical rainforests
expanded across equatorial Africa, and the Sahara region started turning into the savannah. Lions
living in the south and east of the continent became separated from, and had began to diverge from,
those who were living in the west and north. Then 73,000 years later, the continent dried and the
Sahara expanded, isolating off the lions in the west from those in the north.
At the same time, lions on the west expanded their range into Central Africa, which became more
inhabitable. At the end of the Pleistocene period, lions left North Africa, eventually reaching as far as
India. This meant that southern and

Effects Of Colonialism
During the 20th century aboriginals in Canada were victims of racism. The church and European
settlers saw the aboriginals as savages because of their beliefs and values. In order to combat the
Indian problem the Canadian government introduced residential schools as an assimilation policy.
Children were removed from their families and were forced to practice Christianity and learn the
European way of life in order abolish the Aboriginal culture. This paper argues that Euro centrism
reproduces the marginalization and downward social mobility of aboriginal people through the
residential schooling system.
Canada was colonized by the British in the 17th century for economic exploitation proposes. Post
Colonialism looks at the impact of colonization on the native settles after the colonizers rule is ended.
In Canada, Aboriginals were forced on to reserves, their land was taken through deceit and their
children were sent to residential schools in order to assimilate them and end the Indian Problem.
Residential schools were run by the church and funded by the state. The motive behind the residential
schooling system was to separate children from their families and compel them to assimilate to
European Canadian way of life. Haig Brown explains that First nations in BC not only had European
exploration on their land but also, faced assimilation policies: the residential schooling system which
forcefully took children from their families and trained the culture out of them

How Did Alexander Kerensky s Fall To The Fall Of The...
After overthrowing Tsar Nicholas II, Russian people were optimistic for change. The Provisional
Government inherited authority after the removal of Tsar Nicholas II. A better life was promised and
optimism spread across the country as the Provisional Government took control. Eventually the
Provisional Government was confronted by the same issues Tsarism faced. The majority of the people
felt the abdication of the Tsar was positive, but now the main issue became Russia s involvement in
World War 1. Alexander Kerensky, was appointed Minister of War and rose to a higher rank on July
1917, when he became Prime Minister. Kerensky was initially praised for his role in the Duma and
was favourite to become Russia s saviour. Despite his best efforts to unite all political parties, he soon
alienated himself by not bettering the lives of the Russian people. He also lost the confidence of the
left wing by refusing to apply their radical social and economic program. Kerensky failed to control
certain aspects such as; Russia s involvement in World War 1, Land rights and the Kornilov Affair .
Due to these failures Kerensky and the Provisional Government collapsed.
During World War 1 Russia faced difficulties constantly. Russia suffered food, transport, men and
weapon shortages regularly. After the failures of the June Offensive, Kerensky took charge. The
Russian army s strength had been eroding for months. The Radical Left political group, the
Bolsheviks, called for peace, land, and bread. . Kerensky had planned an offensive, known as the June
Offensive. The June Offensive failed and this impacted negatively on the Russian army. Morale was
dangerously low, whilst desertion and indiscipline began to grow. Weary soldiers terrorised the
civilian population on their way home, and violence became a common daily condition in Russia.
Whilst Kerensky was trying to inspire soldiers, Lenin was actively convincing people to stop fighting.
General Brusilov said
In a year of war the regular army had vanished. It was replaced by an army of ignoramuses. From July
onwards it became increasingly evident that the majority of support for the soldiers lay with Lenin and
the Bolsheviks, instead of Kerensky. Kerensky claimed propaganda had

The Importance Of Human Evolution
Through research it has been determined that evolution is a part of nature, and organisms become
more complex over time. As organisms become more complex their characteristics begin to change,
and aspects that are beneficial for their survival become prominent in their offspring. However,
characteristics that are not beneficial to their survival begins to fade as organism evolve. From this
arise Charles Darwin s theory that evolution occurs because of natural selection, expressing that
organisms with the best characters will have a higher survival rates and have the ability to pass these
characteristics to their offsprings. Branching out from the theory of evolution it is believed that all
species have a common ancestor. Depending on how similar and different species are the further back
in time they would share a common ancestor. By discovering fossil remains, using radioactive dating,
and DNA mutation rates scientist were able to develop a phylogenetic tree. As of right now the
phylogenetic tree is extensive, but it is not complete. Human evolution is a prime example of a branch
that is still incomplete. By comparing DNA it has been determined that Chimps and Human DNA are
98.8 percent similar, however we are still different species (1). The question that still needs to be
answered is who is the common ancestor of Human and Chimps. Recently human ancestry has
become clear through the discovery of Ardipithecus ramidus, commonly referred to as Ardi. A group

Sumarian Beliefs
History
In the southernmost region of ancient Mesopotamia laid the land of Sumer. Many believe that it is the
cradle of civilization. The name Sumer comes from the language of Northern Mesopotamia known as
Akkadian. It translates as the land of civilized kings . The Sumerians referred to themselves as the
black headed people and the thier home was simply the land . The biblical Book of Genius makes
mention of this area calling it Shinar. We know the land today to be southern Iraq.
Archeologists believe Sumer was settled somewhere between 4500 to 4000 BC. They developed thier
culture in the form of city states. Known city states are Ur, Kish, Eridu, Lagash, Nippur and Urak.
Urak is regarded as the first true city.

The music that has been found is difficult to convert to modern music. The staff notation that we use
today did not exist in ancient Sumer. They utilized a system of words or intervals followed by
numbers to identify pitch. We had no idea what interval matched what pitch. It was decided that we
would base the intervals off the tones made from replicas of ancient instruments. The Sumerian music
system is based around the lyre (a type of portable harp) that had nine strings just like contemporary
harps. Each string was tuned a step above or below the next string. The Sumerian scale had seven
notes in it just like a modern scale. The Sumerians gave their scales names just as we do today.
However, we do not know what the Sumerian scale names translate to. In other words, we do not
know the mode. Melodies today are made by assigning each note a specific pitch. Sumerian notation
gives each note a certain interval followed by a number. This is confusing. Does the number mean that
we play the interval a certain number of times? Do we play the same interval an octave apart at the
exact same time? No one knows for sure. Most scholars do not think that it means to play the intervals
simultaneously. That would make the music polyphonic. Polyphony in music was not truly seen until
1000 AD, 2000 years after Sumerian music was

Hypothesis For Abusive Relationships Essay
There are many different hypotheses that are being tested during this study. The first hypothesis is that
people who come from families with a history of domestic violence tend to be involved in an abusive
relationship themselves more often than people who came from normal families. The second
hypothesis is that people with more social support are less likely to be involved in abusive
relationships than people with less social support. The third hypothesis is that people with lower
socioeconomic status are more likely to be involved in abusive relationships than people with a higher
socioeconomic status. The fourth hypothesis is that people who are involve in an abusive relationship

Differences Of Myths
It can be seen that every culture have historical stories associated with their origin that have been
passed from one generation to another. Some among these are classified as legends, while others are
called as myths. These stories mostly consist of a superman like character that breaks all logic and
rules of nature. According to me, History is a concern which raises a number of issues in factual way
where sources come from primary sources or objective secondary sources. History is considered as an
accurate guide to the past which is read to explain, analyze and describe the truths of the past. On the
other hand, Myths only tells about a few daily occurrences through very subjective ways. The sources

youthful learning that would fill their lives with significance and reason, bringing on in them an
otherworldly quality that would never fall flat them in times of need. Myths are stories of confidence,
which open the eyes of everybody to truth and empower them, to end up who they genuinely are.

Dark Inside Trust Quotes
The Significance of Trust
Trust is a valuable asset in which many people rely on everyday. Once trust is broken, it becomes
difficult to move forward in life and trust new people.Individuals must be cautious in the ways trust
will affect their life. In the novel Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts, the main characters often contemplate
if there are other people going through the same traumatising moments as they are, and whether they
would be considered trustworthy. These characters go through many times of struggle, confusion, and
bravery in order to find out whether the path they travel on will lead them to victory, or traps they will
regret falling into. Mason s risky encounter with Twiggy, Aries questionable friendship with Daniel,
and Clementine s great trust in her mother are all ways in which involve the difficulty of trust. ...

John Wesley Principle
In the doctrine of John Wesley, one discovers a new objective; distinctive from Wesley s interpretation
of human depravity based upon the Reformed perception of sin, and the requirement of divine grace
for salvation. He distinguished himself from the activists and brought out the doctrine of prevenient
grace into his construction of the doctrine of redemption. Wesley abandoned the theory of election,
electing the concept of conditional election. Consequently, he fused the teaching of the total sinfulness
of a person and the importance of grace with the emphasis on human liberation, giving birth to his
doctrine of sanctification.
His aspect of sanctification derives from an operation of becoming more like Jesus in disposition and
reference. God s desire for our sanctification as a desire for love to become the constant ruling temper
of our soul. It is a process of cleansing humanity from sin. This made it possible for a person to enjoy
communion with the Father and abide in his presence. He believed genuine Christian maturity was
evidenced by actions lies behind his identification of love as the sum of Christian sanctification.
Wesley emphasized the importance of justification, and the confidence of salvation is grounded in the
righteousness of Christ. He considers the progression of sanctification as one of making the person
admirable of salvation. I am first to inquire wherein that circumcision of the heart consists which will
receive the praise of God. This

The Death Penalty is a racist practice and is costly to go through with. The death penalty must be
abolished for reasons such as punishing the poor, violating the human right to live, and being

governments all this power to decide whether someone lives or dies? Along with inequality, the death
penalty punishes the poor. In recent studies if a defendant cannot afford good legal representation they
are more likely to head towards the death penalty. If the defendant can afford good legal

The Importance of Music In Marketing Techniques
Music has become an important part of the marketing tool s extent, with the compound usage of TV
and radio as the mean of communicating with the consumers.
Music can serve universal promotional goals in one or more of several capacities. The classic jingle is
the most common musical technique for aiding memorability and thus product recall. Some of the
biggest products and companies in the world are successful solely because of the customer
satisfaction, this is also because the customers like a particular jingle/music in an advertisement the
brand produced. An intimate jingle/music catches the customer s attention and makes them think twice
about a product; and a bad jingle might make a company famous for the wrong reasons, or persuade
people from looking at a certain brand. The usage of music and jingles in marketing has proven to be
of importance. It helps to create the product or brand s image and it also helps, together with all of the
other marketing tools to promote the product and to make it memorable for the consumers. (Shimp
Andrews, 2013 pp 65 66)
One of the important aspects in music in advertising is the music fit or the degree of congruity
between the advertisement and song content. Marketing and music can definitely agree. This
involvement refers to the amount of attention directed toward the advertisement and its content. It can
be implied or directly stated, changing the way in which background music interacts with
advertisement viewing or listening.

Chapter 15: Crucible of Freedom: Civil War, 1861 1865 Both North and South were ill prepared for
war in 1861. Initially dependent on volunteers, the Confederacy established a draft in 1862, and the
Union did so the following year. At first the South relied on imported arms and munitions but soon
was able to produce its own. It had more trouble with clothing and food throughout the duration of the
war. Financing the war was also a problem. Americans had been unaccustomed to paying taxes to the
national government, but both sides had to end the tradition of hard money and minimal government
by raising taxes, issuing war bonds, and printing paper money. Inflation was serious in the North and
devastating in the South by 1865. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Sea Islands, black refugees took advantage of temporary reallocation of former plantation lands

dissension. With its superior resources, the Union met the challenge more effectively. Although the
cotton textile industry in the North was hurt, industries directly related to the war effort arms
manufacture, ready made clothing, and railroads flourished. The Republicans in Congress were able to
act on their idea of free soil, free labor, free men and passed the Homestead Act and the Morrill Land

price increases. The Southern economy was totally shattered by the war, as railroads were torn up,
food growing regions were occupied by Union troops, and planters continued to try to raise cotton
crops. Southern women were forced to revive home production of goods in short supply, but even that
was hard to do as Union invasions turned women and children into refugees. As the war went on,
dissent became a problem on both sides. In the North Peace Democrats, known as Copperheads,

Animal Testing Is Cruel And A Waste Of Time
Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals are locked inside
barren cages in laboratories across the world. They languish in pain, ache, with lonliness, and long to

will be performed on them . This statement about animal testing is from PETA.org. I have a strong
belief about this topic so I am arguing the point that animal testing is cruel and a waste of time and
money.
My first point is about the problem with animal testing for cosmetics. Around the world, countries use

There are many types of alternatives that can be used for medical research such as; cell cultures,
human tissues, computer models and volunteer studies. There are very few countries that actually use
these alternatives which is selfish because they kill innocent animals because their projects are not
designed properly. They could be saving animals lives by using alternatives and it is a much cheaper
option. Alternatives for cosmetic research are toxicity tests, neuroscience and drug development.
These are safer ways to test products to roll out the kinks so they wont burn or irritate skin without
harshly testing them on animals. I think all brands should go cruelty free because it is much easier to
test the products in the labs. It is a more effective and faster way to get the products to customers. It
saves many lives and boosts the sales of brands in every country possible. But for medince I think they
should just limit the amount of animals that are allowed to be used per year and exceeding the limit
shall result in a large fine.
To conclude, I think that animal testing should be banned and I disagree with companies that are still
using animals to test their products. This is a very cruel and inhummaine problem that is happening

Not Just On Sunday At The United States Army
Not Just on Sunday
In the many years I have been working; in high school, a soldier in the United States Army, factory
work along side of my father, and in law enforcement, I have experienced many leaders or bosses who
were products of what they were taught or not taught. Those skills they adopted along the way, they
imparted them to lead people. Maybe, in their hearts, these leaders had theological beliefs and
principles they learned and practiced Sunday or their own Sabbath, Remember the Sabbath day by
keeping it holy (Exodus 20:8), but it just seemed to me, on Monday through Friday, in my work life
experience, those theological principals taught on Sunday ended sometime between the end of Sunday
service and the beginning of the work week on Monday. In other words, scripture (s) that was read and
interpreted on Sunday did not collate or merge in their daily lives, and this led to leadership principles
and skills that were without Jesus. It was a division: Jesus and His mercy on Sunday and a secular
ideology on Monday through Friday. I have always believed those theological principals taught on
Sunday, Bible Study, Revivals, or weekly Bible Schools, etc. was just not extended beyond the church
doors to the work environment where those same individuals who ask for Jesus mercy and love, failed
to show mercy and love to the men and women they led daily. No boss I worked for has ever come to

Immigration remains a popular political but also ethical topic. For one, we like to consider ourselves
progressive and moving towards a more multicultural world, yet we continue to cherry pick
immigrants with the right qualifications and skills and there is still talk of foreign born people taking

which is why a Voight Kompff test is needed to detect replicants by their responses to emotional
situations; however, the existence of Rachael, a replicant who has been given artificial memories in
order to help her understand and experience emotion and make her more human like, changes that
distinction. The ambiguity of human identity and experience is highlighted when Rachael questions

Co2 Adsorption Capacity Is Defined As A Measure Of An...
CO2 adsorption capacity is defined as a measure of an adsorbent s capability or potential to adsorb
CO2. It is expressed in terms of number of moles of CO2 that a unit mass of an adsorbent adsorbs
under equilibrium conditions. The CO2 adsorption isotherms for MCM 41 30, MCM 41 30 AP 9 85
0.5 and MCM 41 30 TP 9 75 0.3 at 30 °C are presented in Figure 6(a). The CO2 adsorption isotherms
for amine tethered samples exhibit a steep nonlinear concave shape due to the strong interactions
between carbon dioxide molecules and amine moieties. In contrast, MCM 41 30 exhibits a less steep
isotherm indicating that pure silica interacts with CO2 only by physisorption and hence lacks
sufficient strong affinity towards CO2. Therefore, it is clear that the ... Show more content on

Amine efficiency provides a measure of the fraction of amine groups present in an adsorbent that
actively participate in adsorbing CO2 by chemisorption. It is reported that the theoretical maximum
value for amine efficiency that an ideal adsorbent should exhibit under dry CO2 adsorption conditions
is 0.5 (for PCO2 = 0.1 0.2) i.e., in the absence of significant physisorption at non functionalized sites.
The amine efficiency values for MCM 41 30 AP 9 series and MCM 41 30 TP 9 series are presented in
Table 2, from which the variation in amine efficiency with respect to amine loading can be noticed.
From Table 2, it is evident that, as amine loading increases, at first amine efficiency increases, then
reaches a maximum at a critical value of amount of water added in the reaction mixture and then
finally drops off at water levels higher than the critical value for both mono and tri aminosilane
addition. The similar trend in amine efficiency is observed with respect to increase in grafting
temperature for constant amount of water, in case of both mono and tri amino silane compounds.
MCM 41 30 AP 9 85 0.5 sample exhibited the maximum amine efficiency of ~0.5, which is close to
theoretical maximum value. This proves that MCM 41 30 serves as an ideal support for amine
tethering process, where the CO2 adsorption process is not hindered due to transport/diffusion

How Did The French Revolution Unsuccessful
The Unsuccessful French Revolution
Before the French Revolution France was divided into three estates. These Estates determined very
significant things ranging from social class, to the percentage of land a person owned and even the
duties and privileges of a person. The French revolution began in the 1780 s and was triggered by The
Assembly of Notables, and the Estates general not considering the third estate while voting, sparking
the first phase of the Revolution. On July 14, 1789 Bastille was stormed because to the third estate it
symbolized the French monarchs dictatorial rule. The Reign of Terror, ending in 1794 can be
considered the end of the revolution resulting in 50,000,000 deaths. The French Revolution was
mainly unsuccessful because, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If the absent parent does not comply I will make sure they suffer the consequences, and repercussions

was growing up and how its important to be there for your child. A child needs a mom and a dad one
parent should not have to raise one or more children alone it takes two parents to make it work. Just
because the parents are divorced or they broke up does not mean that the absent parent has to stop
coming around or even stop paying to help with the child. That child is still your responsibility.
The career path I have chosen can bring me fulfilment by being able to get families back on track. The
more I m successful in my job the more motivated I will be to contiune and grow and get better. I will
be the one who defends the child or teen, and I want them to have the best care from there absent

Major Advantages Of Functional Behavioral Assessment
According to Raymond (2012), FBA is the process of gathering information about a learner s
behaviors in order to determine the purpose of a problem behavior in addition to its antecedents and
consequences . This process is for all students regardless if they have a disability or not. Once the
target behavior has been implemented, a hypothesis can be developed and more effective behavioral
interventions can be designed and implemented, including PBIS. All data used to create these
implementations need to be recent...properly collected and interpreted . In addition to our textbook s
information, I also found this: Functional behavioral assessment is a test that is meant for identifying
the reason for behaviors displayed by individuals with severe cognitive and communication problems.
(...) The following are key benefits gained from a functional behavioral assessment.
1. Offers a deeper insight
The major advantage of functional behavioral assessment is that it looks beyond all the unsuitable
behaviors themselves. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the social and environmental factors
that are responsible for causing certain behaviors. This wide perspective offers a deeper insight of the
reason behind a person s behavior. Hence, a functional behavioral assessment helps in explain the
reasons why someone behaves badly, which is very helpful when dealing with various problematic
behaviors.
2. Enhances child development
Most children can only communicate well

My Life As A Hero
There are many people in my life that have done great things. My mother and my father raised me in a
great way to give me a great life. I will never forget the man who pulled me out of a ditch while I was
stuck in a snowbank on the way to swim practice. I will never forget my counselors in Maryland that
made my move back to Fargo much easier. I will never forget my teachers that made a difference in
my life. I will never forget my friends who have impacted my life positively. However, these people
are not heroes, they are altruistic. These people are great human beings but do not deserve the title of
hero just because of how they helped me through my life. A hero should be the highest compliment of
a human being, and calling everyone a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had an older sister and a younger brother. He grew up in a very deep Christian faith with great
emphasis on the commandment Thou shall not kill . On December 7th, 1941, while Doss was 22 years
old, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in the surprise attack against the Pacific fleet stationed at
there. At the outset of the war, Doss worked at a shipyard, but he quit his job to join the armed forces
despite being offered to work at the shipyard during the war instead of going in arms overseas.
He was sent to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, to become a medic for the newly reactivated 77th
infantry division. However, despite Doss s persistence to join the uniformed forces, he refused to carry
a weapon into combat, and to fight on Sunday (the Sabbath) which his higher ups harassed him for. He
was eventually allowed to serve as a medic, unarmed as a conscientious objector.
He served in campaigns in Guam and the Philippines in 1944, and the United States was closing in on
the Empire of Japan through their island hoping campaign. The United States had one more island to
go, Okinawa. Okinawa was only 400 miles from mainland Japan and that would serve as an invasion
base for mainland Japan, and a launching point for air assaults on Japan. The taking of Okinawa
would be of huge strategic importance to the United States of America.
Every island the Americans took, the fighting was more and more bloody. For example, in the Battle
of Iwo Jima, on an island only 21 square kilometers,

Lesbian Gay Bisexual And Transgender Rights
The Umbrella Widens To Cover Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Rights
The business world is an ever changing environment; there are new laws, regulations, and tax codes
passed all the time that effect how we do business here in America and abroad. It is important that we
keep abreast on those changing laws to protect our companies as well as the employees that work for
us. The last few years have opened up many hot topics of debate when it comes to rights being
extended to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. There is no shortage of passion, no
matter what side you stand on, when it comes to same sex marriage, transgender bathroom rights,
legalized adoption for same sex couples, and non discrimination laws being extended to cover LGBT
individuals. While all of these seem like topics that should not affect the workplace drastically, that
could not be further from the truth. A new decision by the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC), Baldwin v. Foxx, extends Title VII s protections to cover sexual orientation for
federal sector employees and may lead the way for courts to recognize similar protections in the
private sector. The EEOC also now maintains that gender identity is protected by Title VII,2 and some
courts have agreed (Muñoz and Kalteux, 2016, p. 43). The job of a Human Resource Manager is to
keep up on the changing laws, and to make sure that the company they work for is compliant in
upholding them. While women have long

Diversity Interview Assignment
SW 3410 Human Behavior and the Social Environment
Steven D. Sledge
Madonna University
Abstract
The people in the world that we live in are extremely diverse, in terms of the nationalities, religions,
gender classifications and physical abilities. Social workers must have a clear understanding of the
consequences of diversity and difference and the mechanisms of oppression and discrimination as they
relate to human development. The range of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds that social
workers will practice in is huge. Because of this, social workers must have an understanding of the
values and attitudes of a multitude of different cultures as well as an understanding of their own
attitudes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

IV. Information Obtained
Ms. Mao describes herself as Chinese of the Han nationality. The Han nationality dominates the
ethnicity of the population of China. According to everyculture.com, China is the most populous
nation on earth; in 2000, the estimated population was 1,261,832,482 (over one fifth of the world s
population). Of these people, 92 percent are Han Chinese; the remaining 8 percent are people of
Zhuang, Uyhgur, Hui, Yi, Tibetan, Miao, Manchu, Mongol, Buyi and Korean (everyculture.com,
2013). According to Ms. Mao, Chinese people who live in the far south of China belong to what she
describes as the South Asia race.
Ms. Mao earned a degree in journalism in China and has worked as a journalist there for some time.
She stated that she wanted to expand her knowledge and learn new things. Her major at Madonna
University is business. She has no brothers or sisters and states that this is the result of China s one
child law. According to the Journal of Politics and law, The Birth Control Law of PRC restricts
married, urban couples to having only one child, and rural couples to having 2 children if the first is

Gender Stereotypes In The 1980 s
The 1980 s are typically viewed as being a great decade for the United States; the Cold War came to
an end, the economy experienced major growths under President Reagan, and the United States was
starting to emerge as the sole world power whose actions with regards to foreign policy, economics,
and social culture would influence how the rest of the world would react in the decades that followed.
However, the 1980 s also consisted of the AIDS epidemic. The AIDS epidemic was first identified in
the United States in 1981 and by the time the first antiretroviral AZT was approved and released for
treatment of HIV/AIDs in 1987, 48,000 people had died directly as a result of AIDS, and over 700,000
people have died from 1981 2017.1 Many people that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Joe and Louis are selfish; Louis in wanting to abandon his terminally ill boyfriend and Joe by

to unify playreaders by showing how needlessly divided we are over something that may or may not
exist and that we shouldn t use it as the single standard that defines how good a person is.
Additionally, religion acts as a source of exposition in the play17; Millennium Approaches begins at
Louis grandma s funeral8 and the use of religion throughout the first act gives readers an idea of how
the characters are going to act based on their religious beliefs because in America, religious views and
political ideology are hand in hand.
Finally, religion and a belief in God also highlights the notion that Reagan s America wasn t that great
because certain religious groups during the time believed homosexuality to be a sin, and thus those
with HIV/AIDS were seen as being morally deficient and were to be avoided at all costs.10 In 1993, at
the height of the AIDS crisis, Evangelist Billy Graham said, Is AIDS a judgment of God? I could not

from Sunday school because of the fact that they contracted it from a botched blood

  • 2. Feminism In Shashi Deshpande Shashi Deshpande is a known name in the world of Literature today. She writes about the Indian soil, spreading its fragrance all over the world. Writing on Indian womanhood, she does not personalise incidents or situations. Her aim is to enlighten women folk to stand for their own rights. It is note worthy that the women are the sufferers and then, they are oppressors also. Works have been done on the poor plight of women, especially in India but it has been a tedious task to mark out the traces of women dominion in Deshpande novels. The artistic beauty of the author lies in being able to project both sides of the coin. She has never been defensive about womanhood, although a male writer is acclaimed as a writer whereas if a woman attempts to write, she is tagged as feminist. When a man writes of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shashi Deshpande is hailed because she has an infinite aptitude to sketch the other side of womanhood too the darker, the oppressor, the matriarch woman. Saru s mother in The Dark Holds No Terrors keeps dominating her from the beginning but when her brother Dhruva is drowned she becomes furious. Saru had only been a child. Her fault was that she was a girl child. Saru s mother goes to the extent of telling her, Why didn t you die? Why are you alive, when he s dead? (The Dark Holds No Terrors 191) Beyond imagination, a mother can be such impudent with her own child just because she is a female child. A mother wishing her daughter dead can be the crudest form of patriarchy supported by women. These words get carved so deep inside her mind that Saru becomes a rebel against her mother. Not only this, she could not develop the rationale of judgement and decision making being suppressed always. Moreover, the guidance of her mother could have helped her but neither her mother bothered nor she cared for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Hollow Men A Short Analysis and Discussion for the piece: The Hollow Men In various occasions, the human race tends to make several mistakes throughout the span of their lives. In the poem, The Hollow Men, written by Thomas Stearns Eliot, is not exactly the most uplifting of poetic literature. Although, the poem does have some underlying value to its notion; it emphasizes moral values, responsibility, and a depiction of the aftermath of World War I. T.S. Eliot depicts the poem s message into five sections; the first, speaks of a group of individual human beings who are characterized as We are the hollow men, We are the stuffed men ... Once more, the emphasis on detail for the individuals is necessary for Eliot to elaborate for the reader and allow it to create hollowness and sense of emptiness. Lastly, the final section of the poem is the huge downer of the entire poem. It starts with a nursery rhyme Here we go round the prickly pear which analyzes the surroundings once again and finally explains the reason for the immobility and lifeless presence of the individuals. The poem states, Between the motion, And the act, Falls the Shadow emphasis on the Shadow, which has now taken control of their actions, they cannot even exist. Eliot actually slowly starts write human expressions but then it quickly dies away with him depicting how the fate of the human race will fall Not with a bang but a whimper . As a conclusion, this poem has quite a few ties in with several of Eliot s works and other writers. Vincent Persichetti, a composer of the Modern Era in music, actually composed a work The Hollow Men for Trumpet and String Orchestra in 1944, nearly 20 years later since The Hollow Men was actually written. The piece highly resembles the written work because of how hollow and dissonant the piece is. Persichetti s talents could be seen in this piece and is most notably one of his finest works. The piece premiered in 1946 for the first and T. S. Eliot later received the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Skepticism In The Truman Show The Truman Show introduces us to a man named Truman who is living a fake life, a life in which everything around him has been scripted out by a director of a television show. He was adopted at birth and raised inside a television studio that was made to resemble the real world. However, Truman is unaware that he has been the star of a television show since birth and thanks to free will, he continues to live life as a normal person. Meanwhile, the director, Christof attempts to control every aspect of Truman s life as if to lead him to take certain actions and to think a certain way. Like so many other philosophical issues, the problem of skepticism can be traced back as far as the ancient Greeks. Nevertheless, it was Descartes who placed this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Given the logical possibility that such a creature exists, how can we be certain that our beliefs about the world are not radically mistaken? How, Descartes asked, can we be certain that we are all not utterly deceived? The Truman Show presents a similar skeptical problem, but in the most convincing of ways. Christof is clearly the evil genius that Descartes described, but whereas Descartes fatal demon is a creature of pure fantasy, the character of Christof and the conspiracy that he orchestrates seem dangerously real. In Descartes Second Meditation he says, I suppose, then, that all the things that I see are false, I persuade myself that nothing has ever existed of all that my fallacious memory represents to me . In the Truman show, Truman finds himself believing that the world around him is the real world, however he is being deceived. Would Truman have been better off believing Descartes words? Descartes attempts to question how he is supposed to understand the world around him as real. Through thinking and questioning, Descartes knows himself, and his mind to be real. However, he still has an uncertainty about the world around him. Descartes concludes the Second Meditations by posing that, because it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Mrs Bennet Satirized Essay Mrs. Bennet being satirized in Jane Austen s Pride and prejudice Jane Austen satirizes Mrs. Bennet for her foolishness, lack of intelligence, being overly dramatic, and her obsession over marriage. It then affects her relationships with her daughters and the connection they share, it also affects the relationships with her neighbors, family, and friends as she comes off as pushy or annoying. In order to ultimately criticize how Mrs. Bennet is overly involved in her children s life and unable to relax. Mrs. Bennet is being satirized for her obsession over marriage. Throughout the novel, Mrs. Bennet s main priority is to get all of her daughters married. For instance when Mrs. Bennet first heard about Mr. Bingley moving in her first thought was how he would make such a good man for one of her daughters to marry. Mr., Bennet says , Oh! single, ... For example when Lydia runs away with Wickham she was all worried in the beginning but she then finds out that they are getting married and she s is no longer sad and upset, suddenly she is happy and isn t mad at anyone. Mrs, Bennet says, My dear, dear Lydia! she cried: This is delightful indeed! She will be married! I shall see her again! She will be married at sixteen! My good, kind brother! I knew how it would be (247). This shows satire because Mrs. Bennet should still be worried, her youngest daughter has still run away from home but because Mrs. Bennet is careless and has different priorities it s okay. Mrs. Bennet also gets satirized because in this passage she does not have the normal reaction of a mother, she is happy. Also before Mrs. Bennet was given the news about Lydia being married Mrs. Bennet was so worried and upset, she was blaming everyone and it was a horrible thing that she had run away but then she heard the news and was excited and happy and back to her regular self ... • 12. The Human Diet Essay Introduction You are what you eat is a common phrase amongst parents attempting to convince their children to trade their candy in for some vegetables. As it turns out, this saying holds more truth than one may think. The human diet has played a major role in our evolution. Not only has human evolution shaped our diet, but our diet has shaped us. The relationship between man and diet throughout time is complex, and not completely clear. However, what information we can gather about the diet of our ancestors may help to explain how what we eat affects us today. Our diet paved the way for us to evolve the traits that now define us as human, such as our bipedal stance, more developed brains, and ability to manipulate tools. It also resulted in a disconnect between our nutritional needs and the foods we actually consumed due to the rapid changes in our diet during agricultural and industrial revolutions. This disconnect manifested itself in the form of chronic diseases. The leading three causes of death in America are heart disease, cancer, and chronic lower respiratory diseases, all of which are linked to dietary intake. Examining how our diet evolved can give us insight as to why these diseases are so prevalent in our society, and how we can potentially adjust our diets to foster a healthier society for the future. Dietary evolution of early hominids For the purpose of simplicity, the diet of australopithecines will used as the foundation of which the human diet evolved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author of this paper believes that Ethan Couch should have gotten harsher sentencing. Affluenza was used as a reason for Couch needing to have his charges lessened, but in looking through reasons that someone can have their sentence lessened Affluenza was not among them. The term itself is just a mix of affluence and influenza. Neither of these things would lessen a sentence in court by itself, and affluenza is not term even used in any courts nor does it hold weight as a term. Ethan Couch was old enough to make decisions by himself. He would have known that drinking heavily and driving was a bad decision. If he had just acted his age he would have either asked someone to drive him of gotten a taxi to go home, and avoided the whole incident and not had to go to court. He was 16 years old at the time of the case so he would have known what he did was wrong. The final issue with the term Affluenza is that the term itself gives rich people the right to say that Affluenza was the cause of their crime. If Affluenza is to be used as a valid excuse for a crime then other people would be able to create their own special reason for why they did their crime. How is this possible? Technology has advanced incredibly quickly over the last hundred years, with developments such as the Internet and the smart phone. The ultrasonic sensors tell the car whether or not there are bumps on the road, or if it s approaching a curb, something a human is not always capable of doing, and the lidar on top identifies lane markers and the edges of the road by bouncing light off of them. Sensors on self driving cars take out all the guess work usually involved in driving a car out of the equation. While all of these sensors work together to steer the car away from danger, occasionally, says Olivia Solon, data amassed by all the sensors can conflict with each other, resulting in a dangerous situation referred to as sensor fusion. This fusion of sensors has already resulted in a fatal crash involving a tester of a self driving Tesla car; the sensors produced conflicting data, and as a result mistook a truck for an overhead road sign, causing the car to run directly into the truck. Therefore, while these numerous sensors are instrumental to the driverless car, they are still in development and not yet safe to trust with human lives. While the United States knew of terrorism it wasn t a main stream issue for Americans, these types of activities happened in other countries, not ours. Unfortunately that is not true, which we found that terrorism can and did reach our shores and change our lives, this unfortunate realization took place on September 11, 2001. Of course this was not the first terrorist activity that occurred on American soil, it is just the one that slapped American s in the face telling us that American was not untouchable , we are just as vulnerable as other countries. Defining terrorism has been an issue for many years, the different branches of the federal government cannot even agree on a definition of what terrorism is let alone different countries. To back up the above I have listed some of the different definitions from different branches of the federal government and from other countries (White, J. 2014). The Intelligence Community is guided by the definition of terrorism contained in Title 22 of the US Code, Section 2656f(d): (www.cia.gov) o The term terrorism means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents. o The term international terrorism means terrorism involving the ... • 17. The Lion s Body Introduction: The Panthera Leo, also known as the lion, is a member of the cat family, and shares many common traits of this family. The lion s body is very muscular, with less bone mass than other animals of comparable size. This allows the lion to make powerful blows with its forepaws heavy enough to break a zebra s back. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements quiet enough to sneak up on prey. Lions walk on their toes which means they are digitigrade walkers. The claws on the paw grow as a series of layers. As a layer wears, the layers shed, and a new sharp pointed claw is then exposed. The lion s body is covered with a brown coat, but sometimes, a white variant that shows up. When a lion kills/threatens a farmer or a rancher s livelihood, that individual is likely to poach or poison the lion in retaliation. Moreover, conservation groups work with people living in lion territories, educating them about the lion s ecological importance, and developing cheap ways to protect their subsistence. Evidence of Evolution: The lion s most common and recent ancestor lived around 124,000 years ago. Learning about the lion s history has been difficult since animals living in tropical areas tend to leave fewer fossilized remains behind. Around the time of the earliest lion s ancestor (124,000 years ago), tropical rainforests expanded across equatorial Africa, and the Sahara region started turning into the savannah. Lions living in the south and east of the continent became separated from, and had began to diverge from, those who were living in the west and north. Then 73,000 years later, the continent dried and the Sahara expanded, isolating off the lions in the west from those in the north. At the same time, lions on the west expanded their range into Central Africa, which became more inhabitable. At the end of the Pleistocene period, lions left North Africa, eventually reaching as far as India. This meant that southern and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The church and European settlers saw the aboriginals as savages because of their beliefs and values. In order to combat the Indian problem the Canadian government introduced residential schools as an assimilation policy. Children were removed from their families and were forced to practice Christianity and learn the European way of life in order abolish the Aboriginal culture. This paper argues that Euro centrism reproduces the marginalization and downward social mobility of aboriginal people through the residential schooling system. Canada was colonized by the British in the 17th century for economic exploitation proposes. Post Colonialism looks at the impact of colonization on the native settles after the colonizers rule is ended. In Canada, Aboriginals were forced on to reserves, their land was taken through deceit and their children were sent to residential schools in order to assimilate them and end the Indian Problem. Residential schools were run by the church and funded by the state. The motive behind the residential schooling system was to separate children from their families and compel them to assimilate to European Canadian way of life. • 19. How Did Alexander Kerensky s Fall To The Fall Of The... After overthrowing Tsar Nicholas II, Russian people were optimistic for change. The Provisional Government inherited authority after the removal of Tsar Nicholas II. A better life was promised and optimism spread across the country as the Provisional Government took control. Eventually the Provisional Government was confronted by the same issues Tsarism faced. The majority of the people felt the abdication of the Tsar was positive, but now the main issue became Russia s involvement in World War 1. Alexander Kerensky, was appointed Minister of War and rose to a higher rank on July 1917, when he became Prime Minister. Kerensky was initially praised for his role in the Duma and was favourite to become Russia s saviour. Despite his best efforts to unite all political parties, he soon alienated himself by not bettering the lives of the Russian people. He also lost the confidence of the left wing by refusing to apply their radical social and economic program. Kerensky failed to control certain aspects such as; Russia s involvement in World War 1, Land rights and the Kornilov Affair . Due to these failures Kerensky and the Provisional Government collapsed. During World War 1 Russia faced difficulties constantly. Russia suffered food, transport, men and weapon shortages regularly. After the failures of the June Offensive, Kerensky took charge. The Russian army s strength had been eroding for months. The Radical Left political group, the Bolsheviks, called for peace, land, and bread. . Kerensky had planned an offensive, known as the June Offensive. The June Offensive failed and this impacted negatively on the Russian army. Morale was dangerously low, whilst desertion and indiscipline began to grow. Weary soldiers terrorised the civilian population on their way home, and violence became a common daily condition in Russia. Whilst Kerensky was trying to inspire soldiers, Lenin was actively convincing people to stop fighting. General Brusilov said In a year of war the regular army had vanished. It was replaced by an army of ignoramuses. From July onwards it became increasingly evident that the majority of support for the soldiers lay with Lenin and the Bolsheviks, instead of Kerensky. • 20. The Importance Of Human Evolution Through research it has been determined that evolution is a part of nature, and organisms become more complex over time. As organisms become more complex their characteristics begin to change, and aspects that are beneficial for their survival become prominent in their offspring. However, characteristics that are not beneficial to their survival begins to fade as organism evolve. From this arise Charles Darwin s theory that evolution occurs because of natural selection, expressing that organisms with the best characters will have a higher survival rates and have the ability to pass these characteristics to their offsprings. Branching out from the theory of evolution it is believed that all species have a common ancestor. Depending on how similar and different species are the further back in time they would share a common ancestor. By discovering fossil remains, using radioactive dating, and DNA mutation rates scientist were able to develop a phylogenetic tree. As of right now the phylogenetic tree is extensive, but it is not complete. Human evolution is a prime example of a branch that is still incomplete. By comparing DNA it has been determined that Chimps and Human DNA are 98.8 percent similar, however we are still different species (1). The question that still needs to be answered is who is the common ancestor of Human and Chimps. Recently human ancestry has become clear through the discovery of Ardipithecus ramidus, commonly referred to as Ardi. A group of scientists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The music that has been found is difficult to convert to modern music. The staff notation that we use today did not exist in ancient Sumer. They utilized a system of words or intervals followed by numbers to identify pitch. We had no idea what interval matched what pitch. It was decided that we would base the intervals off the tones made from replicas of ancient instruments. The Sumerian music system is based around the lyre (a type of portable harp) that had nine strings just like contemporary harps. Each string was tuned a step above or below the next string. The Sumerian scale had seven notes in it just like a modern scale. The Sumerians gave their scales names just as we do today. However, we do not know what the Sumerian scale names translate to. In other words, we do not know the mode. Melodies today are made by assigning each note a specific pitch. Sumerian notation gives each note a certain interval followed by a number. This is confusing. Does the number mean that we play the interval a certain number of times? Do we play the same interval an octave apart at the exact same time? No one knows for sure. Most scholars do not think that it means to play the intervals simultaneously. That would make the music polyphonic. • 26. John Wesley Principle In the doctrine of John Wesley, one discovers a new objective; distinctive from Wesley s interpretation of human depravity based upon the Reformed perception of sin, and the requirement of divine grace for salvation. He distinguished himself from the activists and brought out the doctrine of prevenient grace into his construction of the doctrine of redemption. Wesley abandoned the theory of election, electing the concept of conditional election. Consequently, he fused the teaching of the total sinfulness of a person and the importance of grace with the emphasis on human liberation, giving birth to his doctrine of sanctification. His aspect of sanctification derives from an operation of becoming more like Jesus in disposition and reference. God s desire for our sanctification as a desire for love to become the constant ruling temper of our soul. It is a process of cleansing humanity from sin. This made it possible for a person to enjoy communion with the Father and abide in his presence. He believed genuine Christian maturity was evidenced by actions lies behind his identification of love as the sum of Christian sanctification. The Importance of Music In Marketing Techniques Music has become an important part of the marketing tool s extent, with the compound usage of TV and radio as the mean of communicating with the consumers. Music can serve universal promotional goals in one or more of several capacities. The classic jingle is the most common musical technique for aiding memorability and thus product recall. Some of the biggest products and companies in the world are successful solely because of the customer satisfaction, this is also because the customers like a particular jingle/music in an advertisement the brand produced. An intimate jingle/music catches the customer s attention and makes them think twice about a product; and a bad jingle might make a company famous for the wrong reasons, or persuade people from looking at a certain brand. The usage of music and jingles in marketing has proven to be of importance. It helps to create the product or brand s image and it also helps, together with all of the other marketing tools to promote the product and to make it memorable for the consumers. (Shimp Andrews, 2013 pp 65 66) One of the important aspects in music in advertising is the music fit or the degree of congruity between the advertisement and song content. Class is introduced through the setting, the Italian American neighbourhood of Red Hook, in a worker s flat, clean, sparse and homely which conveys a working class household. It is also communicated through the characterisation of Eddie achieved through dialogue and costume. His dialogue is quite rough and casual, perhaps signifying lower levels of education, for example Where you goin ? and Ain t . Eddie is then juxtaposed with the character of ... • 36. The Similarities Between Dogs And Poodle Pets In late September of 2012, I was shocked when my family got me what I had been begging for after my cat died. My mom, grandparents, and I were almost to the dog breeding farm where I was possibly going to get my new puppy. When we got to the place with the puppies my grandma and I were arguing over which puppy we were going to choose. My mom told me that as long as I would take care of the puppy, I could get one. After my cat, Noel died from liver failure I decided that I wanted to get another pet. I finally decide that I wanted a puppy, so I started begging for one. It took a lot of begging, but after a few months my mom gave in and said I could get one. My family and I started looking at which kind of puppy we wanted to get and where we wanted to get one at. We all decide that we wanted a lap dog, because when we looked on the internet at them, one website said that smaller dogs are easier to potty train. We found a place that breeds dogs, there were many different kinds of dogs for sale on the website. One breed of dog that was extremely cute was a peekapoo. It is young compared to the total age of the United Stated military, but it is a tried and true piece of equipment. The Chrysler Corporation has had ties to military tank development and production that go all the way to World War II. However, the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank came into production much later. In 1973, the Department of Defense realized it had a greater need for a new and improved tank model. Thus, the Chrysler Defense Division began developing tanks to compete with the M60. The definition of human is so flexible and indistinct in the context of the film. Replicants, a kind of android, are physically indistinguishable from humans, which is why a Voight Kompff test is needed to detect replicants by their responses to emotional situations; however, the existence of Rachael, a replicant who has been given artificial memories in order to help her understand and experience emotion and make her more human like, changes that distinction. • 39. Co2 Adsorption Capacity Is Defined As A Measure Of An... CO2 adsorption capacity is defined as a measure of an adsorbent s capability or potential to adsorb CO2. It is expressed in terms of number of moles of CO2 that a unit mass of an adsorbent adsorbs under equilibrium conditions. The CO2 adsorption isotherms for MCM 41 30, MCM 41 30 AP 9 85 0.5 and MCM 41 30 TP 9 75 0.3 at 30 °C are presented in Figure 6(a). The CO2 adsorption isotherms for amine tethered samples exhibit a steep nonlinear concave shape due to the strong interactions between carbon dioxide molecules and amine moieties. In contrast, MCM 41 30 exhibits a less steep isotherm indicating that pure silica interacts with CO2 only by physisorption and hence lacks sufficient strong affinity towards CO2. Therefore, it is clear that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amine efficiency provides a measure of the fraction of amine groups present in an adsorbent that actively participate in adsorbing CO2 by chemisorption. It is reported that the theoretical maximum value for amine efficiency that an ideal adsorbent should exhibit under dry CO2 adsorption conditions is 0.5 (for PCO2 = 0.1 0.2) i.e., in the absence of significant physisorption at non functionalized sites. The amine efficiency values for MCM 41 30 AP 9 series and MCM 41 30 TP 9 series are presented in Table 2, from which the variation in amine efficiency with respect to amine loading can be noticed. From Table 2, it is evident that, as amine loading increases, at first amine efficiency increases, then reaches a maximum at a critical value of amount of water added in the reaction mixture and then finally drops off at water levels higher than the critical value for both mono and tri aminosilane addition. The similar trend in amine efficiency is observed with respect to increase in grafting temperature for constant amount of water, in case of both mono and tri amino silane compounds. MCM 41 30 AP 9 85 0.5 sample exhibited the maximum amine efficiency of ~0.5, which is close to theoretical maximum value. This proves that MCM 41 30 serves as an ideal support for amine tethering process, where the CO2 adsorption process is not hindered due to transport/diffusion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This process is for all students regardless if they have a disability or not. Once the target behavior has been implemented, a hypothesis can be developed and more effective behavioral interventions can be designed and implemented, including PBIS. All data used to create these implementations need to be recent...properly collected and interpreted . In addition to our textbook s information, I also found this: Functional behavioral assessment is a test that is meant for identifying the reason for behaviors displayed by individuals with severe cognitive and communication problems. Offers a deeper insight The major advantage of functional behavioral assessment is that it looks beyond all the unsuitable behaviors themselves. In fact, the focus of this test is to classify the social and environmental factors that are responsible for causing certain behaviors. This wide perspective offers a deeper insight of the reason behind a person s behavior. Hence, a functional behavioral assessment helps in explain the reasons why someone behaves badly, which is very helpful when dealing with various problematic behaviors. 2. The last few years have opened up many hot topics of debate when it comes to rights being extended to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. There is no shortage of passion, no matter what side you stand on, when it comes to same sex marriage, transgender bathroom rights, legalized adoption for same sex couples, and non discrimination laws being extended to cover LGBT individuals. While all of these seem like topics that should not affect the workplace drastically, that could not be further from the truth. A new decision by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Baldwin v.
