Facility Planning Part II
Introduction
Development and growing a facility takes much time and contemplation with respect to regulatory
requirements, budgets, planning and development of the building and the interior design of the
building. Making certain code requirements are met which is usually to help the architect and
contractor. Many matters must be well thought out during the preliminary design created by the
stakeholders in the blueprint. Color collections used, which are satisfying physically and
psychologically as well as noise reduction must be reflected when planning the facility. Equipment
and electronic items must be determined upon prior to construction of the facility. Cost ... Show

In addition, they should also offer security and safety.
And finally, they should be sustainable since they impact greatly on environment and are big
consumers of water and energy. The designs must therefore ensure that they follow the regulations
and all equipment and machines used should not violate the set codes and standards.
Color selection implications and noise issues
The color of a health care facility is important to the wellbeing and therefore the health of patients.
According to Carr (2010), the colors should be calming and well coordinated to achieve the best
mental state and mood of patients and to create a cohesive atmosphere helpful to their recovery. If
the colors are not tranquil, they may disturb the wellbeing of patients and even become threatening
to their recovery. Noises in a hospital should be kept to a minimal to allow patients enough time to
rest undisturbed and to make them feel secure. Privacy is also important and facilities should
ensure they protect patients information in the course of giving care.
List of the type of equipment needed
Outpatient facilities require certain equipment and electronic items. These items include, but are
not limited to:
These include room dividers, X ray machine, laboratory kits and products, heating and ventilation,
sinks, examination beds, vital assessment equipment such as blood pressure monitors, stethoscopes,
thermometers,

Designing A Social Enterprise That Provides Jobs For Men

During our first round of interviews, we focused on resort shop owners and boutique retailers to
determine needs, considerations, volume, product selection, price points, and target customer.
For the second round of interviews, I worked with Josh Larson to identify the areas in which we
need more support and who would be the best resource for each area. We decided to focus on online
sales, tourists purchase behavior, and manufacturing. Of the three, we knew that the manufacturing
interview would be the most challenging. Neither one of us has a background in manufacturing, so
our questions had to be very open and the interviewee would need to determine what would be the
most pressing points to consider. We knew the three... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the introduction, I asked her to share when and how she started working in online sales and
what products she sold. In addition to the online platform, she had pop shops in campus which
allowed her to talk to customers and find out more about their purchasing decisions. For online
shopping, you cannot easily find out if the customer will be the user. Purchases could be for gifts.
She created an online shop in 2012, when she was in college, to help her make extra money. The
shop was described as mission driven with products that socially conscious and support domestic
violence organizations and environmental impact. The shop is on Etsy, because the online
platform made selling easier, and it was a community where socially conscious customers can
easily find products and the maker is king. Although that platform had its advantages, she
highlighted that one does not have to pick. One can have a store on Etsy and another on a
personal domain. The personal shop can sell on with a slight discount, so returning customers go
there first. Etsy is a great resource to get discovered.
Her product line is mainly apparel and accessories. She shared that she tried jewelry and
handcrafted products. They can sell well, but her challenge with it was that she didn t have the
experience to talk about specific details when customers had questions. The average profit is 20
30% and the price was mostly between $18 $23. She does have a $75 anchor price for a few

An Individual s Reflexes Increase With Age
An individual s reflexes decrease with age which affects their ability to drive. The ability to make
quick decisions is an important skill to have to avoid accidents. Reflexes allow an individual to
react quickly to a dangerous driving situation. It is the time an individual takes to slam on the brake
or avoid an obstruction that makes reflexes so important while driving, Geriatrics poor reflexes
create delayed reactions which ultimately increase the risk for accidents. Reflexes are needed to
prevent various types of accidents such as rear ending and pedestrian striking. It is probable that as
one ages, the connection between the two hemispheres of your brain become delayed (University of

Rhetorical Analysis Of My Dad s Story
If a company wishes to attract new customers, a clever idea they do is to find a way to entertain
them. For over thirty years, MetLife has used their prominent partner Snoopy and the rest of
Charles Schulz s Peanut gang to lure new customers in their life insurance business. Esther Lee,
global chief marketingofficer of MetLife, has stated that over thirty years ago MetLife has brought
Snoopy into their company in order to seem more friendly and more approachable. Snoopy helped
drive MetLife and served as an important role to the company for decades. In recent years, MetLife
has been using new rhetorical tactics to attract new customers like changing their tagline to

The harrowing music and montages of the daughter and father together forms lumps in the
audience s throats. From the beginning of the commercial to the end, the audience s emotions
were manipulated. Parents being the main audience of this commercial may possibly take the
role of the father because they too would want to sacrifice anything for their child s happiness,
education, and even life. MetLife also used ethos in order to build a trust towards their possible
customers. Not being directly stated, MetLife wants the viewers to know that they care for the
success and well being of all children and parents by simply stating at the end of a the video that
everyone has a dream for their children; if they share it with MetLife by using the website
linked to the video, that dream could become a reality all by the help of MetLife insurance.
MetLife used great examples of rhetorical tactics in their popular commercial My Dad s Story :

emotional events that parents may experience on a daily basis. This commercial demonstrates how
MetLife cares for their customers and hopes to catch the hearts of new

Conflict Management Style With Others
Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with others, be it;
personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate to the conflict.
Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but becoming aware of
your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts result exactly the way they do. It
helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not? Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal
conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the
middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More
frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and
resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin air . (Steve
A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about us as humans. It is an
important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living a healthy life. Our particular path
decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could be resolved quickly with everyone feeling
content. However, our non verbal behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is
usually related to unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). I participated in a conflict
management style quiz that was created by Reginald Adkins to see what style I followed. The style
that I tend to follow is Harmonizing.

Conspiracy Theories Are An Integral Part Of Society
Conspiracy theories are an integral part of society to answer the world s unexplained questions.
It is a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as the result of a secret plot by
usually powerful conspirators (Merriam Webster). There are various ways to categorize these
theories. According to Jesse Walker, there are five kinds: The enemy outside, the enemy within,
the enemy above, the enemy below, and benevolent conspiracies (p. __). On the other hand
Michael Barkun believes there are three types: event conspiracy, systematic conspiracy, and super
conspiracy (p. 6). The conspiracy theory at hand revolves around Purdue Pharmaceuticals (Purdue
Pharma), and their release of opioids. Opium is a plant that was used from 1804 to now. In 1972
Contin was put on the market at a controlled drug release system (Purdue Pharma L.P.). In 1984
MS Contin was put on the market as an extended release formula of morphine, and in 1996
OxyContin was put on the market as an extended release formula of Oxycodone (Van Zee). These
drugs were released in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. According to the Center for
Addiction and Mental Health these drugs are commonly used for pain and recreational use (__).
Purdue Pharmaceuticals did not notify doctors and patients of the drug s addictive properties, thus
creating the opioid addiction epidemic in America. Due to them concealing the truth, a six hundred
million dollar lawsuit was settled in May 2007, with more lawsuits to come

The school that would have the best view for the observation tower would be Northview

Middle School has an elevation of 796 feet above sea level. Hayes Leonard Elementary school
has an elevation of 728 above sea level. As seen in these elevations, Northview would have the
highest view point, with the added 40 feet of the observation tower, for the children to view the
weather patterns and clouds.
Scenario 2
The more difficult route of the two routes would be the one that starts 10 miles upstream and
ends up back in the town of Jim Thorpe. The elevation at the starting point of the more difficult
route is 765 feet and the ending point is 524 feet. The distance is 10 miles which means the
gradient is 24.1 feet per mile. The less difficult routes starting point elevation is 522 feet and
ending point is 386 feet. The distance was again 10 miles, this means the gradient is 13.6 feet per
mile. Gradient is found by taking the lower elevation and subtract that from the upper elevation,
then divide the difference by the distance. The route traveling to the town of Jim Thorpe has larger
gradient which means the water in this path will flow faster. The faster the water flows the more
difficult the path is. Therefore the more difficult path would be the path starting upstream and

Educating The Youth In The Kite Runner
Why is it that you go to school as a child while you are young, rather than as a more mature adult?
Education is started at the age of three in most places because children are the future. The next
generation. That is why educating the youth is the most important task in achieving social injustice.
Educating the youth can be achieved in many different ways, one of them being through the
teachers in classrooms. In The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, you see Assef bullying Hassan
about how he is a Hazara. Later Assef goes on to use the analogy of the Pashtuns being the Nazis,
and says, Remember that if they had let Hitler finish what he had started, the world would be a

One day in school Scout was learning about Hitler and how he was such a bad person. Their
teacher explained that he had done all these bad things. Later, Scout overhears her teacher at the
courthouse speaking negatively about blacks. Scout being curious says to jem, Jem, how can you
hate Hitler so bad an then turn around and be ugly about folks right at home (283). Throughout
the court case Scout matures due to Atticus teachings and realizes the social injustice that occurs
every day to the blacks in their own town. Scout is the only student that we saw realize this, and
it is because of Atticus. We see this when Scout says, Ugly about folks right at home . When
Scout says, Turn around it is Harper Lee explaining to us how the townspeople are two faced.
However, not Atticus. He sticks by his morals the whole time. He took the Tom Robinson case, to
teach his kids that there are social injustices, and they need to be fixed.
In conclusion, the Education of children is the most vital way in gaining social justice and equality.
Education however, can be taught in many different ways including school, parents, and friends.
When children are taught about the injustices in society, they come to an understanding that things
need to be done and changes need to be

Mary Rowlandson s Captivity Narrative Essay
The Puritans played a large role in early American history and society. Most Puritans escaped the
tyrannical rule in England to gain religious freedom in America, which helped create an early
American society. Not only did the Puritans help form the early American society and religion, they
also contributed to the earliest stories and narratives to help create a rich literary history for
America. Puritanliterature has helped many scholars and readers learn about early American
history. One of the most famous American narratives is from Mary Rowlandson, who was the wife

The passage also shows that God, according to the Puritans, is a very strict God. He does not
tolerate evil acts, and requires that His followers obey His will, or they will be cut off from his
presence and blessings. God is so intolerant of sin and evil, that Mary accepted that it was ok for
God to take way her children and her lifestyle. On the other hand, God, according to the Puritans,
is also merciful to His own people. At the end of the phrase, Mary stated that God showed mercy
to her by helping her through her afflictions. Also, Mary again stated how merciful her God was
in her following statement, Now hath God fulfilled that precious Scripture which was such a
comfort to me in my distressed condition (Derounian 12 51). According to Mary, God is strict,
demands righteousness among his followers, but is also merciful towards His own people. These
different principles line up with the Puritan doctrine of the time as well.
Since God was not tolerant of sinners and evil acts, Mary recounted many different acts that were
considered evil or barbaric that the Native Americans did. For example, when the Native
Americans attacked Mary s town, she described the aftermath as, a solemn sight to see so many
Christians lying in their blood, some here and some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves,
(Derounian 12 51). Mary separates the

The World s 10 Largest Firms And Their Sources Of Economies
Name Tutor Institution Course Date 1. The world s 10 largest firms and their sources of
economies of scale The two conventional financial clarifications for the development of firms
have been economies of scale and economies of degree. Economies of scale emerge when a firm
brings down its every unit generation expenses of a specific item by creating in more prominent
amount. Division of work through specialization is one reason every unit expenses diminish as
generation increments. Adam Smith depicted in the eighteenth century how a pin plant can
expand its yield essentially if every specialist over and over performs a particular undertaking in
the creation prepare as opposed to having every laborer freely make complete pins without any
preparation (Ayyagari,2011). In current MNCs, economies of scale exist in view of division of
work as well as by consolidating, and regularly supplanting, human work with automated generation.
Interest in substantial scale creation gear and the most recent innovations is by and large
exceptionally extravagant. Organizations that have substantial economies of scale have solid points
of interest over their rivals in light of the fact that they have logistic or value preferences, and in
this way pull in more clients and set their size preference considerably more. It makes a criticism

Respectivism In Sociology
PHILOSOPHY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
Theoretical approaches in the social sciences for example, behaviorism, functionalism,
hermeneutics have a perspectival nature. Perspectives have their own way of describing social
sciences and may be dangerous for any social institution (Blinov, 2010:21). Philosophy s aim is to
question beliefs and opinions in the social science disciplines but also these disciplines can be
politically innocent and neutral institutions by not favouring any particular practices or results in
group or individual perspectives (Blinov, 2010:6). In sociology, many different points of view

Sociologically, Marxists claim the individuals are related by the different ways economically for
production. A conservative functionalist theoretical perspective entails the individual fault
philosophy but is rejected by critical and feminist sociologist in their frameworks. Social Institutions
are social practices that are regularly and continuously repeated, legitimised and maintained by
social norms.
Perspectivism in social science is the process of applying social scientific results to modify
certain aspects of the society in question and/or of the individual s life. Perspectives in the social

The Importance Of Repealing The Second Amendment
Boom! That s the sound of someone dying from a firearm. In fact, a death from a gun occurs every

the second amendment. The second amendment should be repealed because it is unneeded in
modern times, owning a gunshould be a privilege not a right, and repealing the amendment would
decrease gun related deaths.
The second amendment was created during the American Revolution and is not needed in modern

Americans are without question, the most heavily medicated people on the Earth. When most

In this paper, we will explore the magical experience of Walt DisneyCompany through the structure
and symbolic frames based on the Bolman and Deal?s individual lens. The structural frame focuses
on the architecture of an organization and other features like: rules, regulations, goals, policies,
roles, tasks, job designs, job descriptions, technology, chain of command, vertical and horizontal
coordinating mechanisms, assessment and reward systems, and many more (Bolman, L., Deal, T.

Volkswagen dirties it s hands in emissions scandal
A car is spewing deadly carbon dioxide, forty times more than the car next to you. Piling onto many
recent scandals in Europe, Germany s Volkswagen has cheated emissions tests. The scandal has
sparked enormous stifle across the world and turmoil in the company. The Volkswagencompany
started when Adolf Hitler gave the order to have the small middle class car to be produced. VW
produced the Beetle in the 1930s to much of Germany s population. After the end of the third
Reich, Volkswagen spread and became a large job creator in Germany as well as an international
brand (Morning Edition). Volkswagen prioritization of the European market, led them to bet their
future on green tech chips and diesel engines. This is in contrary to the moves of many other car
makers, who are pursuing electric cars in the American market. The American market thought of
diesel engines as secondary and insignificant (Ziegler). The Environmental Protection Agency s
Tier ii emissions standards had high bars for diesel emissions that would be extremely difficult to
reach. There was a heavy burden for Volkswagen s engineers to create a quantum leap in the diesel
engine in terms of emissions and fuel economy. To cut these emissions Volkswagen would need to
use an effective but bulky and expensive system in its cars. However cheating the emissions tests
would be fairly easy due to the lack of

Indian Culture And Its Impact On Society
India is country known all over the world for its culture and tradition. It is a land with various
cultures and traditions which are as vast as the subcontinent upon which they are located. This
essay will focus on the Indian culture and highlight the different beliefs that Indians have on life
processes. The essay will show the different methods Indians use to stay healthy and how the Indian
culture can determine how healthcare services are provided to the people.
India is a nation of many different individuals, each with their own beliefs and way of life. The
different beliefs that are held by these people and the traditions they follow can have a significant
impact on how they view modern healthcare. The beliefs and moral values which are a part of
human nature can have positive impacts on an individual, but can also bind them and cause
negative impacts on mental and physical health (Worthington Gogne, 2011). It is necessary for
health professionals to be aware of the cultural beliefs and influences so that they can effectively
provide healthcare services. A lack of cultural competence in care leads to poor patient outcomes,
low compliance, and higher disparities regardless of the services and systems available ( Diversity
Cultural Competency in Health Care Settings ).
Depending on an individual s culture, the way in which one perceives life processes differs
greatly. For Indians their culture plays a large role in how they perceive these things. Being a

The Pros And Cons Of Organ Donation
At the age of two, a young boy named Jason became seriously ill from a heart condition. With the
many hospital visits and meetings with doctors, Jason s family knew he would need a new
heart, but they also knew it would not be easy to attain. After being on the transplant waiting list
for more than a year, Jason finally received a heart at the age of five. Jason s parents were
ecstatic stating, The new heart not only gave our son a chance to live, it changed our lives forever
(OneLegacy, 2017). With the help of a giving donor, Jason was given a second chance at life,
something many individuals in his situation do not get. The gap between organs needed and organs
being donated is alarmingly huge in today s society. Organ donationis a big issue and there is not
just one way to solve it. To some, the problem can be solved by simply thinking morally and
choosing to help those around you. To others, the problem lies within the care from medical staff.
In order to get these issues across, Snyder, Van Assche et al., and Kluge, authors of pieces within
the ethical discipline use anecdotal evidenceto persuade an audience to think morally about organ
donation. In contrast, Berntzen BjГёrke and Jacoby et al., authors of articles within the psychology
discipline, use testimonial evidence to express to the audience that an issue with the organ donation
process comes from the treatment of patients from medical staff. Both disciplines acknowledge

1.
Risk analysis and management
One of the key segments of applying administrative safeguards to ensure or protect the association
s health care records or data is known as risk analysis. It is difficult to set up a successful risk
management program if the association doesn t know about the dangers or risks that exist. Risk
analysis is generally new to medical field. Couple of associations/ organization implemented formal
security hazard/risk assessment before the HIPAA rules publication. This is not enough to prevent
the risks in health care. So, health care has to adapt risk assessment processes similarly like other
industries
Eight steps for risk analysis process
Eight steps for risk analysis process explained by Steve Weil (2004)
1.Boundary definition The organization or association should build up a detailed inventory of all
health care data and data frameworks. This audit can be directed utilizing interviews, examinations,
surveys, or different means. The essential thing in this step is to recognize all the patient particular
medical record data, Medical information systems (both inner and outer), and clients of the data and
health care information system.
2.Threat identification Distinguishing risk will bring about a list of every single potential risk to
the association s medicinal services information systems. The three general sorts of risk are
a.Natural, for example, surges and flames
b.Human, this can be deliberate or accidental
c.Environmental, for

My Fair Lady By Eliza Doolittle
Design elements are important because of the part that scenery, costuming, and lighting plays in the
movement of the musical production. As Richard Kislan says, the ultimate objective of the
designer of musicals must be to service the moving forms that characterize the musical theater.
(Kislan 251). As a member of the audience I never recognize the movement of the scenery but
enjoy each new set and costume. Without those important changes of movement the audience
might lose interest or feel lost in a long musical. Musicals are full of costume changes that signify
an important event in a character s plot. A good example is My Fair Lady, where Eliza Doolittle
begins the musical with nothing more but rags and a small weary basket of flowers.

Change At Work Analysis
Changing isn t always the easiest thing to do, but in writing it is necessary. Whether it s changing
your genre; which includes style, form, focus, tone, word choice. Or changing it to fit a new
workplace which is explained in Wardle s essay Identity, Authority, and Learning to Write in New
Workplaces. Roozens Tracing Trajectories of Practice: Repurposing in One Student s Developing
Disciplinary WritingProcess is also an example of how change affects someone s writing. Change is
crucial for people in any new or different environment.

Roozen is explaining how Alan s refusal to change is because of the community he identifies with,

Introduction
To date in the 2014 Ebola Virus (EBOV) outbreak in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, 4818
people (60% of the laboratory confirmed cases) have died. Over 13,500 cases have been reported.
Included in the mortality figures are more than 400 medical staff. The effect of the outbreak on the

In August all medical structures were ordered closed for several weeks due to the infection rate in
health care workers. Nationwide, curfews and community quarantines have been implemented.
More globally, there have been 26 travel associated cases and 10 deaths. Widespread confusion and
an element of fear has distracted the developed world from prioritizing critical support to the West
African region.
On August 8th 2014, following the Emergency Committee meeting convened under the
International Health Regulations (IHR) to discuss the outbreak for the first time, we declared that
the conditions for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) had been met.
This was a full five months after the international community was alerted to the outbreak with a
report of 86 cases and a case fatality ratio of 68.5% in Guinea. Repeated warnings and requests for
assistance from the governments and the handful of international NGO s who are handling the bulk
of the cases have not been responded to appropriately whether in terms of resources or response
times. As the lead health organization charged with responding to global health crises, we have
been derelict in our support to these entities, the health systems of the countries affected and most
critically to the people who have been infected by the virus.
Although there is now some international mobilization to address the current situation, it is

Stakeholder And Business Development Corporation Of...
The word stakeholder has been frequently used to refer to a person or organization which has close
financial relationship with company or enterprise, since 1990s. Stakeholder could include its
owners, staff, shareholders who are internal stakeholder, and external stakeholder, for example,
community, the government, and competitors. In this essay, stakeholder will include not everyone
to whom it may have a payoff (Bourne, 2007).
If an entity is owned and operate by an individual and there is no way to distinguish property of the
owner from the business, then it is called a sole trader. The business runner is in totally control of
every aspect of it and is responsible for any potential risk of the business which may include loss,
loans, and bankrupt. (Small Business Development Corporation of the Government of Western
Australia, 2015). In contrast, a PLC (is legally short for public limited company) is a type of limited
firm whose stocks may be freely bought and sold to the public (Longman Business Dictionary,
2007). These two business units have stakeholders, which affect them in different ways.
This essay is going to discuss the importance of different stakeholders. According to the traditional
view the shareholders are of primary importance in a company and all policies should serve their
needs first. Stakeholder theory mentions that there are other groups involved with the company.
Even contender is sometimes referred to as shareholders, their status being stated to

Analysis Of The One With Five Steaks And The Simpsons
The culture of America was transforming by the end of the twentieth century, and series like
Seinfeld and The Simpsons were transcending television through creative storylines and
outstanding comedy. In the year 1994, CNN introduced the new, hit sitcom Friends; the show
followed six 20 to 30 year old friendslives in Manhattan and captured an upcoming generation by
storm. The idea of friends learning to support one another through professional and private conflict
appealed to the masses. Everyone tuned in each Thursday night and became attached to one of the
show s empathetic characters: insipid Ross, irresolute Rachel, vacuous Joey, bubbly Phoebe,
irritable Chandler, and imperious Monica. Its popularity only grew through each new season as the
actors and actresses developed from unknowns into national television stars. The One with Five
Steaks and an Eggplant in season two exemplifies the show s ability to influence and reflect a
country s culture through its emotional storylines, comedic drama, and relatable characters.
In the episode, Ross s birthday is coming up, and the group is planning something special for the
event. They agree on a gift, cake, and tickets to the upcoming Hootie and the Blowfish concert. It
will cost each person sixty two dollars, but Rachel, Joey, and Phoebe each receive a lower income
than the other members of the group; the extravagant lifestyles of their friends begins to become an
issue. Meanwhile, Chandler is receiving calls from a woman

Overconsumption Of Antibiotics
Why does the over prescription of antibiotic medication lead to a negative economic and societal
outcome?
Increasing bacterial resistance to antibiotic treatments has become a worldwide issue over the
last 20 years as consumer and general practitioner s incentives for a quick fix to minor illnesses
have caused a negative externality for the consumption of antibiotics. A negative externality in this
example is when a third party, in this case, society as a whole, is adversely affected by the
overconsumption of antibiotics, due to greater bacterial resistance, causing more advanced diseases
that pose a greater risk to the health of a society. The roles played by consumers, doctors and
pharmaceutical manufacturers will be discussed in detail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most antibiotics require a prescription from a medical professional such as a general practitioner or
specialist. According to research published in the Medical Journal of Australia during 2017: GP s
have been prescribing antibiotics nine times more often than what the guidelines state. Doctors, like
consumers, are driven by their own incentives. There is a strong incentive for GP s to prescribe
antibiotics to patients which may not necessarily require them, due to the pressure on a doctor s
time to attend to as many patients as possible. Therefore, doctors can be incentivised to undertake
the simplest solution, rather than sacrifice the amount of patients that they see in order to explore
other methods of treatment. Doctor s incentives tend to be skewed towards offering treatment to
patients, rather than focusing on decreasing the big picture societal negative externality. Another
example of an externality on the healthcare system is that amplified antibiotic resistance increases
medical costs, as more expensive, potent antibiotics are required to combat stronger bacteria and
infections.
In the United States, Pharmaceutical companies spend over $1 billion each year on direct to
consumer advertising for antibiotic prescriptions, shifting away from traditional advertisements for
physicians in medical journals, towards newspapers and consumer magazines. This marketing
strategy has bolstered consumer demand hugely and it poses a problem, as consumers are now
heavily swayed by private institutions who have their own incentive for maximizing profits.
In order to combat the issues discussed in this essay, a potential solution involves the
implementation of economic incentives for drug manufacturers, consumers and doctors, employed
by policy

Exercise Test Of Fasting Blood Glucose Levels
Following the establishment of fasting blood glucose levels subjects in the oral glucose tolerance
test consumed a 10 ounce beverage that contained 100 grams of glucose. Over the next 2 hours
subjects repeated the same method as used in the control test to test their blood glucose levels 4
more times. These 4 tests were conducted at 30 minute intervals and all readings were recorded for
later examination.
Physical Exercise Test After recording their fasting blood glucose levels subjects in the exercise
test group transitioned to the gym. At the gym each individual engaged in 45 minutes of moderate
exercise. Although no strict controls were put in place to regulate the type or intensity of exercise
conducted individuals generally engaged in a reasonably strenuous amount of exercises. Most
individuals conducted either cardiovascular exercise such as running and biking or strength
training such as calisthenics or weight lifting. Immediately upon completion of the exercise
period, subjects returned to the laboratory to conduct a second blood glucose test. Utilizing the
same method as described in the control test the subjects examined and recorded their post

Facing the New World
Entering a new territory filled with countless opportunities and possibilities came with prices to
pay and times of hardships for the pioneers from England. They quickly came to realize that the
grass was not always greener on the other side. They settled in different areas along the east coast,
such as New England, which included New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, and Rhode
Island. The other settlers came ashore just south of New England called the Chesapeake region,
which included Virginia and Maryland. When comparing the two groups, they both had different

Since Virginia was a predominantly agricultural region, the social gap between wealthy and poor

fast as it potentially could have.
New England lacked a significant social gap. Mostly everyone was middle class with the
exception of a very few. While New England was able to have some type of agriculture, they
relied mostly on industries such as shoemakers and blacksmiths and trade. Factors such as
population and resources allowed them to develop rapidly. This lead to large cities for this era and
a healthy economy.
Ecological differences forced different economical strategies for the two groups of settlers to

Virginia benefited from trade by getting things they desired that were difficult for them to obtain on

How To Teach Literacy
When it comes to teaching literacy, there can be some confusion because there are several things
this one little word encompasses. Literacy has long been known as the ability to read and write but
it has recently expanded to include things like computer literacy and competence of other things as
well.
For most, the process of becoming literate begins in early childhood. It starts by parents and
siblings and sometimes even babysitters, nannies or teachers who speak to and around an
individual, introducing them to the language of their people. Sometimes this talking to takes place
in the form of reading aloud, which is a great way to instill a love of reading, but still does not
teach the child how to read.

The Health Promotion And Behavior Change
Like never before have there been so many demands or efforts on those in health care to facilitate
behavior changes, or so many potential strategies from which to choose from. Health care
professionals now realize that multiple interventions at multiple levels are often needed to initiate

`` Alone `` By Edgar Allan Poe
Nineteenth century American author Edgar Allan Poe is best known for his tales of terror and
emotional poetry. Poe led a very tormented and isolated life full of rejection and loss of loved
ones. His agony is revealed in his poem titled Alone , which was written in 1829 when he was 19
years old. Poe never meant for this poem to be seen by others; yet, in 1875, 26 years after Poe s
passing, the poem was published in Scribner s Monthly with the added title of Alone . In Alone ,
Poe reveals he believes his existence is meaningless and no one would care if he disappeared
completely. Throughout this poem, Poe clearly reveals that he is losing his faithin God and
beginning to question the religious teachings of his childhood. In this poem, Poe uses
metaphors to disclose his feelings of losing his sense of self due to the fact that he believes God
is rejecting him. From the opening lines of the poem, Poe portrays that he has been lost in his
own mind for a long time. Poe expresses that he feels ignored and excluded from everything
going on around him. In the lines I could not bring my passion from a common spring and From
the same source I have not taken my sorrow, Poe acknowledges that he is questioning his faith in
God because everyone he loves and cares about has died or abandoned him. Poe believes he has

Homosexuality and University Press
Homosexuality (male).
Definition Homosexuality refers to sexual behaviors and desires between males or between
females. Gay refers to self identification with such practices and desires, like homosexual, both
terms mostly used only for men. Lesbian is its female counterpart. Such definitions have run into
major problems, and nowadays the concept queer is used to indicate the fluency of sexual practices
and gender performances.
Sociological context
Since the 1970s, homosexuality has become the topic of an interdisciplinary specialization
variously called gay and lesbian, queer or LGBT studies (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
to which sometimes are added QQI: Queer, Questioning and Intersexual). The field is far removed

The Dutch physician and homosexual rights activist Lucien von Römer worked with Hirschfeld
on sexual statistics. In a survey of 308 Amsterdam students done in 1904, he not only counted the
men who identified as homosexual (2%) and bisexual (4%), but as well those who had gay sex
during puberty (21%) or homosexual fantasies (6%). In the first Dutch gay novel that appeared
this same year, the author Jacob IsraГ«l de Haan told how he as a student made fun answering the
questions. He already made clear how unreliable such data often are.
Hirschfeld also came with the first urban geography, Berlin s Third Gender (1904) in which he
described the city s gay subculture of bars and parks and the elaborate world of male
prostitution. Mainly German books on the history of sexual morality ( Sittengeschichte ) that
often included chapters on homosexuality, preceded and influenced the work of later sociologists

the work of sociologists creating labeling theory. In many ways, this early research paved the

Tort Reform And Medical Malpractice
Tort reform has intense arguments to both sides and creates a myriad of concerns. On one side
of the tort reform movement, defendants such as corporations and medical professionals want
limits on the damages awarded to the plaintiff. The benefit of tort reform for defendant is the
financial savings. However, a cap placed on medical malpractice cases and other cases that are
of negligence would standardize the monetary compensation regardless of the damage. In my
opinion, Medical malpractice tort reform is a gray area, for each breach of the standard of care
involves a different story and person, therefore the damages vary and should be evaluated fairly.
In this essay, both sides of the argument are discussed, with a focus on medical malpractice tort
reform. Proof of Malpractice For a plaintiff to triumph a claim of medical malpractice for
negligence, four elements must be established. The first element is proving the defendant owed a
duty of care to the plaintiff. The second is to show that the defendant breached the duty to the

Underdeveloped Medical Practices
The medical practices used today are called barbaric and underdeveloped, causing people in this
state to think that the doctors we have use no sense of logic when treating patients. But, there are
a great deal of people who beg to differ. Also, there are people who agree with the other critics
and furious families who blame the doctors for losing their loved ones. Medical practices, and
medicine in general, have helped the soldiers out on the battlefield in many ways, ranging from the

readers ask, What about the mobile hospitals? and others, What about the training? . Sadly, the

Virginia donated resources and money, the female nurses and male nurses could get training and the
mode of transportation will be updated, and work

In addition, they should also offer security and safety. And finally, they should be sustainable since they impact greatly on environment and are big consumers of water and energy. The designs must therefore ensure that they follow the regulations and all equipment and machines used should not violate the set codes and standards. Color selection implications and noise issues The color of a health care facility is important to the wellbeing and therefore the health of patients. According to Carr (2010), the colors should be calming and well coordinated to achieve the best mental state and mood of patients and to create a cohesive atmosphere helpful to their recovery. If the colors are not tranquil, they may disturb the wellbeing of patients and even become threatening to their recovery. Noises in a hospital should be kept to a minimal to allow patients enough time to rest undisturbed and to make them feel secure. Privacy is also important and facilities should ensure they protect patients information in the course of giving care. • 3. Designing A Social Enterprise That Provides Jobs For Men PRE INTEVIEW During our first round of interviews, we focused on resort shop owners and boutique retailers to determine needs, considerations, volume, product selection, price points, and target customer. For the second round of interviews, I worked with Josh Larson to identify the areas in which we need more support and who would be the best resource for each area. Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but becoming aware of your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts result exactly the way they do. It helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not? Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin air . On August 8th 2014, following the Emergency Committee meeting convened under the International Health Regulations (IHR) to discuss the outbreak for the first time, we declared that the conditions for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) had been met. This was a full five months after the international community was alerted to the outbreak with a report of 86 cases and a case fatality ratio of 68.5% in Guinea. Repeated warnings and requests for assistance from the governments and the handful of international NGO s who are handling the bulk of the cases have not been responded to appropriately whether in terms of resources or response times. • 25. Stakeholder And Business Development Corporation Of... The word stakeholder has been frequently used to refer to a person or organization which has close financial relationship with company or enterprise, since 1990s. Stakeholder could include its owners, staff, shareholders who are internal stakeholder, and external stakeholder, for example, community, the government, and competitors. In this essay, stakeholder will include not everyone to whom it may have a payoff (Bourne, 2007). If an entity is owned and operate by an individual and there is no way to distinguish property of the owner from the business, then it is called a sole trader. The business runner is in totally control of every aspect of it and is responsible for any potential risk of the business which may include loss, loans, and bankrupt. (Small Business Development Corporation of the Government of Western Australia, 2015). In contrast, a PLC (is legally short for public limited company) is a type of limited firm whose stocks may be freely bought and sold to the public (Longman Business Dictionary, 2007). These two business units have stakeholders, which affect them in different ways. This essay is going to discuss the importance of different stakeholders. According to the traditional view the shareholders are of primary importance in a company and all policies should serve their needs first. Stakeholder theory mentions that there are other groups involved with the company. Even contender is sometimes referred to as shareholders, their status being stated to ... • 28. Analysis Of The One With Five Steaks And The Simpsons The culture of America was transforming by the end of the twentieth century, and series like Seinfeld and The Simpsons were transcending television through creative storylines and outstanding comedy. In the year 1994, CNN introduced the new, hit sitcom Friends; the show followed six 20 to 30 year old friendslives in Manhattan and captured an upcoming generation by storm. The idea of friends learning to support one another through professional and private conflict appealed to the masses. Everyone tuned in each Thursday night and became attached to one of the show s empathetic characters: insipid Ross, irresolute Rachel, vacuous Joey, bubbly Phoebe, irritable Chandler, and imperious Monica. Its popularity only grew through each new season as the actors and actresses developed from unknowns into national television stars. The One with Five Steaks and an Eggplant in season two exemplifies the show s ability to influence and reflect a country s culture through its emotional storylines, comedic drama, and relatable characters. In the episode, Ross s birthday is coming up, and the group is planning something special for the event. They agree on a gift, cake, and tickets to the upcoming Hootie and the Blowfish concert. • 29. Overconsumption Of Antibiotics Why does the over prescription of antibiotic medication lead to a negative economic and societal outcome? Increasing bacterial resistance to antibiotic treatments has become a worldwide issue over the last 20 years as consumer and general practitioner s incentives for a quick fix to minor illnesses have caused a negative externality for the consumption of antibiotics. A negative externality in this example is when a third party, in this case, society as a whole, is adversely affected by the overconsumption of antibiotics, due to greater bacterial resistance, causing more advanced diseases that pose a greater risk to the health of a society. The roles played by consumers, doctors and pharmaceutical manufacturers will be discussed in detail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most antibiotics require a prescription from a medical professional such as a general practitioner or specialist. According to research published in the Medical Journal of Australia during 2017: GP s have been prescribing antibiotics nine times more often than what the guidelines state. Doctors, like consumers, are driven by their own incentives. There is a strong incentive for GP s to prescribe antibiotics to patients which may not necessarily require them, due to the pressure on a doctor s time to attend to as many patients as possible. Therefore, doctors can be incentivised to undertake the simplest solution, rather than sacrifice the amount of patients that they see in order to explore other methods of treatment. Doctor s incentives tend to be skewed towards offering treatment to patients, rather than focusing on decreasing the big picture societal negative externality. Another example of an externality on the healthcare system is that amplified antibiotic resistance increases medical costs, as more expensive, potent antibiotics are required to combat stronger bacteria and infections. In the United States, Pharmaceutical companies spend over $1 billion each year on direct to consumer advertising for antibiotic prescriptions, shifting away from traditional advertisements for physicians in medical journals, towards newspapers and consumer magazines. This marketing strategy has bolstered consumer demand hugely and it poses a problem, as consumers are now heavily swayed by private institutions who have their own incentive for maximizing profits. In order to combat the issues discussed in this essay, a potential solution involves the implementation of economic incentives for drug manufacturers, consumers and doctors, employed by policy ... In the first Dutch gay novel that appeared this same year, the author Jacob IsraГ«l de Haan told how he as a student made fun answering the questions. On one side of the tort reform movement, defendants such as corporations and medical professionals want limits on the damages awarded to the plaintiff. The benefit of tort reform for defendant is the financial savings. However, a cap placed on medical malpractice cases and other cases that are of negligence would standardize the monetary compensation regardless of the damage. In my opinion, Medical malpractice tort reform is a gray area, for each breach of the standard of care involves a different story and person, therefore the damages vary and should be evaluated fairly. In this essay, both sides of the argument are discussed, with a focus on medical malpractice tort reform. Proof of Malpractice For a plaintiff to triumph a claim of medical malpractice for negligence, four elements must be established. The first element is proving the defendant owed a duty of care to the plaintiff. The second is to show that the defendant breached the duty to the plaintiff. The third is to show that the plaintiff was harmed and experienced damages. Finally, the fourth is to show that the plaintiff was harmed by the actions of the defendant (Greenberg, 2009).
