Early in 2005, IBM Business Consulting Services released a survey that compiled in depth interviews
with more than 100 sales, marketing, and merchandising executives at over 20 consumer products and
retail companies. Only 9 percent of the retailers felt their suppliers had a good understanding of their
business objectives. The gist of the survey was that retailers felt the product manufacturers have
focused their efforts on the end users of the products (the consumers), without giving as much priority
to the needs of the other members of their distribution channels namely, the retailers to whom they

These distinctions between various types of stores will be important as we discuss their participation
in certain distribution channels.
Wholesalers
Wholesalers are intermediaries or middlemen who buy products from manufacturers and resell them
to the retailers. They take the same types of financial risks as retailers, since they purchase the
products (thereby taking legal responsibility for them), keep them in inventory until they are resold to
retailers, and may arrange for shipment to those retailers. Wholesalers can gather product from around
a country or region, or can buy foreign product lines by becoming importers. The term wholesale is
often used to describe discount retailers (as in
wholesale clubs ), but discounters are retailers, not technically wholesalers.
And in B2B channels, wholesalers may be called distributors.
Agents and Brokers
Agents (sometimes called brokers) are also intermediaries who work between suppliers and retailers
(or in B2B channels), but their agreements are different, in that they do not take ownership of the
products they sell. They are independent sales representatives who typically work on commission
based
Participants in the Distribution Channel 33 on sales volume, and they can sell to wholesalers as well
as retailers. In B2B arrangements, this means they sell to distributors and end users.
Resident sales agents are good examples in retail. They reside in the country to which they sell
products,

On a micro level, this issue affects the lives of convicted felons who currently do not have the right to
vote. Social acceptance for felons voting would allow the criminal s voice to be heard as they can vote
for who they want without relying on others to support their causes. Also, being able to participate in
the social norm of voting would help the felon better acclimate into acceptable rather than deviant
behaviors. There are also macro level consequences. With this increase of voters, states have the
potential to swing voting results from current trends impacting campaigns and what issues make it on
the ballots. Also, voters who have already violated society with their deviant act have the potential to

Something old, something new; From razzle dazzle to refined, this year s styles do it all again
Today when brides talk about something old and something new, they are referring to one and the
same thing their bridal gowns. What we re seeing is a return to the 50s and 60s for inspiration, says
Patricia Kaneb of Priscilla. The fabrics and silhouettes are modern interpretations of the trend setting
styles worn by the most glamorous women of those times, like Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Onassis and
Grace Kelly. Why is this trend resurfacing now? For two reasons. One is the fashion industry s
renewed interest in the styles of Hepburn and Onassis. Hepburn s chic has been the subject of
numerous articles given the remake of her film Sabrina and the retirement this past year of her
couturier Givenchy. The recent death of Onassis has brought all of her Kennedy era photos out of

7. Methamphetamine Argumentative Analysis
Neil Postman believes the world focuses on entertainment values and not on real world issues. These
beliefs are true; the argument is well qualified because in this world, many Americans focus their
ideals on celebrities instead of aspects of importance like drug abuse. People invest the time in the
material objects and celebrities whereas there are plenty of other problems in this world that
Americans seem to ignore or refute.
Methamphetamine is known for causing brain damage, but people tend to disagree on this concept that
methamphetamine has no dangerous effects on the cognitive ability. In fact, Carl Hart, an associate
professor of psychology, adamantly disagrees to the dangers reported by media and other research

Because physicians believed that cocaine was a cure for heart disease, they promoted its use, and a
major soft drink company Coca Cola used this drug substance in their soft drinks (Blachford, Krapp).
It was not until more research was concluded and publicized that the real effects of cocaine were made
public. It was determined that cocaine stimulates the central nervous system which increased the heart

knights of Medieval England which were the cavalry, improved as the years went by, but never
actually had any tactics or strategies. The usual knight would just go out there and fight. The knights

Pavises or Mantlets were shields that bowmen or archers took around. The purpose of these shields
was to deflect crossbow bolts and arrows, so that the archer could have total protection to fire. These
shields; were constructed out of wood, and had a slit through the middle allowing the archer to shoot
through the slit and begin picking off the enemy. These were used in the battlefield or upon sieging a
castle. They were most effectively used in the battlefield, because they can find a good spot and start
shooting at soldiers.
The Siege of a Castle was a guarantied victory, but it took a long time of patience. Patience was the
key to victory with this strategy, however it was scarce in the battlefield, because of the angry,
impatient soldiers waiting to get home to their families. The city walls were suppose to be fortifying a
position that could not be easily overrun, and that it could be strong enough to enable the defense to
maintain that position for a long period of time. Siege of a fort, castle, or city walls had four basic
concepts. The Sieging technique was directly directed towards these four. In order for the attackers to
get inside they would have to go over the wall, tear a passage through the wall, dig a tunnel
underneath it, or just wait until the defenders surrendered.
Going over the wall meant constructing a tower that was moved with the help of wheels, this

Native Americans lost their homeland and their way of life. Back in the day, the cowboys were often

WHY AN ONLINE SCHEDULE MAKER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL A BUSINESS
SHOULD HAVE Creating effective employee schedules, whether manually or via an online schedule
maker, is an art form that requires an analytical brain, common sense, and a clear understanding of
business goals. Work schedules, or employee schedules, are necessary if work or tasks are to be
completed in a well organized manner. Effective schedules have time and again been compared to
good motor oil. When they work as they are expected to, good schedules can actually help businesses
to accomplish maximum performance. On the other hand, just like cheap oil, hopeless schedules can
practically drive a business to a halt. When employees come to the office without an idea on what to
do and when to do it, it affects their morale mainly because they don t have proper schedules to serve
their skills and needs and this eventually affects their productivity and career growth. Generally, a
good work schedule can be described as a schedule that drives employees to the right place, to the
right tasks, and at the right time. Without proper employee scheduling, there will always be conflicts
that can create chaos, particularly during peak hours. A good schedule empowers employees to
become more productive and in the same way, a good schedule empowers a business to deliver only
the best to their customers. A proper schedule also happens to be transparent. This way, employees are
not likely to be irritated about particular

Jazz, like most other music genres, evolves as time passes, so it is informative to see how jazz and the
jazz audience has changed throughout the decades. Predictions made about jazz music s future in a
1964 Playboy article are finally answered in a 2008 survey from the National Endowment for the Arts.
One of the biggest changes seen in the jazz community is its popularity. African American artists,
Cannonball Adderley, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, George Russell, and two white critics, Ralph
Gleason and Nat Hentoff were questioned about their views on whether jazz popularity would increase
or not. In the Playboy interview, Gleason remained optimistic about jazz s popularity, while Russell
and Schuller believed that jazz would be on the decline in the next few decades ( A Jazz Summit
Meeting 238). As it turns out, Russell and Schuller were correct in their prediction that jazz popularity
would decrease. In the 2008 survey, the number of adults who attended jazz concerts dropped from
eleven to eight percent from 2002 to 2008 ( Now Who Listens to Jazz? 413). Reasons behind jazz s

have soft skin; they have hard skin and horns for protection, along with their ability to camouflage

The lizard is not friends with everybody. There are animals that when they see a lizard they do not see
the cute or cool animal that we see; they see a snack, or dinner depending on the animal. These
animals consist of birds, snakes, or even other lizards (Knopf, 487 580). When a lizard notices a snake
slithering through the ground, it most likely will not try to fight it. Now that is depending on the size
of the snake and the lizard. Obviously, if the lizard is a lot bigger than the snake then it will fight, or
the snake will just turn away. If the snake is bigger than the lizard, then most likely the lizard will dash
away or climb up a tree. Some lizards will actually stand still, so that way they are not noticed by the
snake. (Bishop,

23. The Assessment Of Nuclear Atypia, Mitotic Count And...
The assessment of nuclear atypia, mitotic count and lymphocyte infiltration in invasive lesions are
challenging areas of diagnostic pathology with significant discordance among pathologists. This
significant inter and intra observer discordance can have a negative impact on clinical care, as these
factors can be used to guide clinical decisions today (e.g., use of chemotherapy in high grade breast
cancer) and may have an even larger impact on clinical decisions in the future (e.g., assessment of
tumor infiltrating lymphocytes to guide the use of immunotherapies). Thus, the accurate pathological
diagnosis represents a critical decision point in clinical medicine, and there would be tremendous
clinical utility to a more objective, reproducible and informative technology for the assessment of
breast pathology. During my PhD training, I developed methods for mitosis detection in color and
multispectral breast cancer histopathological images8,9, and I was a recipient of a copyright from
CNRS France (CNRS Software No. DL 05963 01). In the ICPR 2012 contest on mitosis detection in
breast cancer histological images, the color method I developed ranked second of 17 participants and
the multispectral method I developed significantly outperformed other contestants results. Building on
this prior work, in Specific Aim 3, I will extend these methods for advanced microscopy to analyze
nuclei atypia, mitotic activity and lymphocytic infiltration from 3D lightsheet microscopy images, and

24. Difference Between Systole And Divert Flow To The Heart
2. The heart rate is controlled by the PNS, SNS, and endocrine glands.
3. The difference between systole and diastole is the pulse pressure. Systole is the contraction phase,
while diastole is the relaxation phase. Systolic blood pressure is the highest pressure on the wall of the
arteries. And the diastolic blood pressure is the lowest pressure, corresponding to when the ventricles
are filled with blood during diastole.
4. For blood to flow, there must be a difference in pressure at both ends. Blood flows from an area of
high to low pressure. The pressure difference is also created by the resistance in the blood vessels
themselves. Blood flow is compared to the pressure difference and resistance. So, pressure drives the
flow. And vasoconstriction and vasodilation divert flow to the regions that need it the most.

The distribution of blood flow in and around the body depends on its immediate need, compared to
that of other areas in the body. At rest, the liver and kidneys receive about 50% of CO, while skeletal

cardiac output.
6. During exercise these 3 mechanisms are important for returning blood to the heart. It is important to

25. Pros And Cons Of Voting Registration Drives
By making the restoration of voting privileges more difficult in general, the black community is
negatively affected due to this rising segregation of the prison system. If other states follow the above
patterns by making the restoration of privileges more tedious while combining the disproportionate
amounts of incarcerated African Americans, the nation will wholly target that population in inhibiting
their rights to vote.
Voting Registration Drives
With key aspects of the Voting Rights Act being returned to the regulation of the state governments,
there has been a trend of the defunding and stricter rules directed toward voting registration drives.
These drives have long been problematic with the concepts of priming and fraud being discussed in
relation to their existence, but they have played a huge role in the outreach program to increase overall
voter turnout. There have been arguments that they decrease the urgency of the vote which has also
been applied to early voting periods and Election Day Registration acts, but they succeeded in
increasing the voter turnout rate overall and decreasing the wait lines at the poll, bringing forth the
question as to why voting urgency would be a necessity in the process of the vote. Since the changes
to the VRA, many states have gone forth to defund these drives, seeing them as having no purpose and
being a waste of money. Many states that kept the drives added strict regulations. These include not
allowing blank registration

Vladimir Lenin and his Rise to Power
Eventually, empires and nations all collapse. The end can be brought about by many causes. Whether
through becoming too large for their own good, being ruled by a series of out of touch men, falling
behind technologically, having too many enemies, succumbing to civil war, or a combination: no
country is safe. The Russia of 1910 was in atremendously horrible situation. She had all of these
problems. Russia would not have existed by 1920 were it not for Vladimir Ilich Lenin, the only man
capable of saving the failing nation.
Russia in 1910 was a very backwards country. Peasants who lived in absolute poverty made up the

He formed his own political party, the Bolsheviks, a split off of the earlier Marxists. Unlike other
parties of his time, Lenin limited membership to a small number of full time revolutionaries (Haney

he traveled all over Europe writing propaganda, organizing strikes, and encouraging revolution among
the working class, especially in Russia (Lenin, V.I. 191). Lenin knew what he wanted, knew how to
get it, and was willing to wait.
During World War I, the time was right and Lenin was the man. Czar Nicholas II remained totally
focused on winning the war, and did not hesitate before committing more men and supplies to the war
effort(Haney 65). But for an already starving country, every train that brought supplies to the front
could not also be bringing food to peasants. With public sentiment and even the Czar s own army
against him, Nicholas abdicated the throne in March of 1917 (69). A government by soviets (councils)
was instated, but did not last long. After that, Alexander Kerensky seized power. In November, Lenin
and his Bolsheviks, with help from armed citizens, stopped the revolving door. They took over St.
Petersburg (then Petrograd) and later captured Moscow, meeting little resistance along the way
(Jantzen 613). Lenin took over the government and signed a treaty with Germany to take Russia out of

27. Why Is California High Speed Rail Bad
(FIRST DRAFT) California State Infrastructure Spending: High speed Rail a Bad Idea
The California High Speed Rail is a high speed rail system currently under construction in California
and is a bad idea for the state. During the November election in 2008, Californians were asked to
approve a $45 billion bullet train. Proposition 1A passed, but just barely. Since then just about
everything the voters were promised in 2008 about the rail system has changed. With a $45 billion
price tag, and with far from an overwhelming mandate at 52% of the votes, this project is far from
being built. The first phase of the system could be completed by 2029, provided that additional funds
are obtained. Phase 2 (which has no timetable yet) was originally planned to extend the system
northerly in the Central Valley to the Sacramento Valley Station in Sacramento, and southerly (through
the Inland Empire) to the San Diego International Airport in San Diego. That too has changed,
Sacramento and San Diego are now not even mentioned in future planning. ... Show more content on

Bakersfield began in 2015 and is expected to end in 2019, after which Amtrak s San Joaquin is

government subsidizing of agriculture is a good idea in theory. However, it is controversial because
there are many people who oppose this policy for different reasons. There are many reasons why it is
controversial but there are a few in particular that cause the most debate. One reason that people do
not support the subsidizing is because of the sheer cost. In 2009, the U.S. government paid over 12
billion dollars to the agricultural sector (Vogel, 2001). When you consider that fact that the payments
are being made with taxpayer dollars it explains why some people immediately oppose it. There have
been past years where the government has actually paid double that. These payments do consume a
fair portion of our governments budget. Although it is not a confirmed fact, a Canadian report said that
for every dollar earned by a U.S. farmer, 62 cents comes from some form of government payment

general tax payers to farm owners. In fact, farm subsidies is actually the United States largest

34. Racial Disparities Within Nursing Home ( Nh ) Care Quality...
I. Introduction
There exist significant racial disparities in nursing home (NH) care quality. Although some
improvements have been made in recent years, Blacks are still more likely to receive suboptimal care
in this setting, compared to Whites (1). Blacks are also more likely to be admitted to poorer quality
NH s than Whites (2). There also tend to be racial disparities in psychosocial well being among NH
residents, as determined by lower social engagement among Blacks versus Whites (3). These findings
are particularly alarming provided that the proportion of Blacks aged 65 and older who live in NH s
has increased dramatically, while the number of Whites in NH s has declined (4).
Multiple factors contribute to the disparities between Blacks and Whites in NH care quality. One such
factor is the lack of regulatory practices to curb racial discrimination in this setting. This paper will
propose a policy that aims to enforce and penalize Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
funded NH s that are in violation of current anti discriminatory laws. The proposed policy would be

from public, state agencies.

If you were a prisoner of war coming to see the Forum in attempts to assimilate into this most happy

to a specific class of Roman citizens and did not act as a place where the average Roman man or
woman felt represented. In addition to the works of Trajan, Hadrian s Wall can also superficially
symbolize the happiness and prosperity of the Roman Empire as asserted by Gibbons. The emperor
Hadrian built Hadrian s Wall after returning from his visit to Britain. The construction of the wall was
an attempt by Hadrian to set up permanent borders for the Roman Empire and show the strength that
the Roman Empire had during the reign of Hadrian by doing so. The construction of the wall, while
showing strength and wealth, also can symbolize the empires struggle with its borders, and even more
so, citizenship. The wall itself symbolized the Roman Empire s tensions with the peoples surrounding
the empire. The wall showed how the empire needed a structural device to maintain some level of
peace within the empire. The idea of the reign of the Five Good Emperors being a time of prosperity
can also be understood when looking at the changing roles of women within the empire. Women
during this time period were treated differently than the woman before them. While it s difficult to

Unfortunately, disaster struck in 1923. A disastrous and tragic flood had occurred at Wheeler Park and

Money, Bond Returns, and Amortization Schedule The flow of funds within financial markets is
stimulated by the money, bond and mortgage markets. A money market is the trading of highly liquid
financial instruments with a duration of one year or less and includes the trading of Treasury bills.
Furthermore, bonds are long term investments, with a duration greater than 1 year and are issued by
corporations and the U.S. government. In addition, the mortgage market creates loans to finance the
real estate market. Once mortgages are issued on a property, banking institutions securitize the
mortgages and sell them on the secondary market (CSU Global, 2016). Due to the scale of these three
markets they have an extensive impact on the monetary supply and economy.
Treasury Bills Money market securities are short term instruments created by governments and
corporations to obtain short term funding. Treasury bills (T bills) are common instruments used in the
money market and are issued by the U.S. government. Moreover, T bills are used by the government
to refinance maturing debt and to cover budget deficits. The Federal Reserve also uses T bills as a
fundamental technique to implement monetary policy (Saunders Cornett, 2015). If a one purchases a T
bill that is 90 days from maturity, for $9,970 and with a face value of $10,000, the quoted yield is

41. Immigrating to Canada
Introduction
Emigrating from one s country to another causes many changes in the emigrating family, which can be
dealt in a variety of manners. It has been demonstrated that the immigrants have a tough time
adjusting into the country they have moved to. Each member of the immigrated families have an
impact of moving in a different manner, for instance, children of such families have to keep the family
rituals and customs while balancing out their school life on different scales. This literature review will
address the financial and emotional impact of each family member of an immigrated family. The
purpose is to understand that when immigrants first arrive in Canada or other developed nations, it is
not easy for them to start a new life. It requires a great deal of effort and time to fit into a new society,
especially for a middle aged person, who has spent her or his life in a very different manner. Currently
Canada needs a big number of skilled immigrants because between now and 2021 many jobs are
recognized to be unfilled, therefore1, Canadians need to understand the immigrants, and assist them
hence, they can easily adapt to the new society.

Concrete Experience I knew that management was something I was mentally programed for from a
young age. May of 2000 was the summer going into my sophomore year of high school and I was
venturing into my first tax paying job at Sonic. I liked the structure it had, compared to the odd
summer jobs I had been picking up in the past. From the ripe age of 16, I had already began the
process of evaluating personnel, process s for improvements, and trying to create a safer work
environment for myself and those around me. With the start of my senior year quickly approaching, I
was already balancing sports, grades, college applications, and now my employer was asking me to
step up from a shift leader to assistant manager. I always had the thoughts, if I were the manager I
would do this or I would do that. The same thoughts everyone else was having, except I wasn t saying
unrealistic comments like; we would have two hour lunches and I wouldn t make anyone work Friday
nights. I was looking at how personnel were used and how their strengths were not being maximized. I
was critiquing the processes that had been in place well before I came around, that had never been
questioned. I was young and had big plans for my future that didn t include anything to do with
management. At the time, I never knew I was starting to develop skill sets that would help me reach
goals in my current career. My first year of college was cut short with my desire to join the United
States Army. All
