The Book Of Psalms
Psalms
Author
Like most books in the Bible, the author of the Book of Psalms cannot be undeniably determined;
authorship of Psalms is not perfectly clear to modern biblical scholars, as the book s history is a
combined account of fact and religious tradition However, modern scholars are able to conclude
that Psalms was written over approximately nine hundred years. It is believed that from the 1400s
to the 500s BCE, Jewish and Christian traditions suppose that Moses wrote the first of the Psalms,
and the latest Psalms were written by the Israelites during the Babylonian captivity (Nowell 794
797). On the other hand, some Psalms identify their authors by name, including: King David, Asaph,
descendants of Korah, King Solomon, Heman, and Ethan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hymns sung in churches today contain the exact wording as the Psalms. In addition to hymnals,
the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls raised question about the date of Book of Psalms.
According to modern scholars, The earlier consensus that the book of Psalms reached its final
form around the 4th century B.C. has been challenged because of discrepancies found in scrolls
at the Dead Sea, (Browning). Also, The best extant copies of the Masoretic Text are from the
10th to the 11th century A.D., but the discovery of several scrolls and fragments at the Dead Sea
has provided versions of Hebrew psalms from the period between the 2d century B.C. and the
1st century A.D. (Nowell 794 797). The Dead Sea Scrolls were vital in providing concrete
evidence of the Book of Psalms, regardless of the questions they brought up about the date of the
book. The Dead Sea Scrolls show that, ...in the NT there are many quotations from the psalms (The
Oxford Encyclopedia...). Modern day hymns and the evidence from the Dead Sea Scrolls provide
confirmation of the Book of Psalms included in the

Characteristics Of The Romantic Period
The term used to describe European art, literature and music from 1780 to 1840 is the word
romantic . One of the reasons that scholars chose to call this the Romantic Period was because of
the exaggeration in expression of human emotion during it. This is commonly seen as the main
characteristic of the period, but there are many others that cannot be ignored. Within Romantic
literature, there was a preoccupation with economic and political issues due to the industrial
revolution, a development of female writers and gothic fiction, and themes of nature, for Poland
specifically, and future fate of the country. A common misconception about the Romantic Period is
that it was flawless and perfect. But, in reality there was economic recession, widespread
unemployment, and indirect taxation (30 Great Myths about the Romantics xiv) due to
urbanization and the Industrial Revolution. This led Adam Smith, David Ricardo, David Malthus,
Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill to publish their works which would help reshape and guide
economics and politics during their time, and in the future. Accompanying the publication of their
works, there were people who critiqued their published theories. Those who critiqued them most
commonly believed that the authors ideologies were too commercial. Some authors who portrayed
their disapproval of the political economy were Coleridge, Southey, Wodsworth, Shelley and Blake
(King 47). For example, in Song to the Men of England by Shelley, there

Susan Bordo Never Just Pictures Summary
In the article Never Just Pictures, the author, Susan Bordo, addresses the cultural reasons behind
the rise in eating disorders. She asserts that modern media and advertising campaigns have played
an integral role in this increase. Though unfortunate, the media s focus is not on the well being of
its viewers, but on the level of cash flow they provide. The advertisingmoguls use their agencies as
double edged swords; they will make ads for McDonalds, then go in the next room and conduct a
photo shoot with a six foot two, eighty pound woman. The world of advertising needs to realize
their work is being seen by millions of people and is affecting some of those people in extremely
negative ways. The author of this article begins her analysis of the rise in eating disorders by
acknowledging America s obsession with being the ideal weight. From an extremely young age,
American children are being taught that women in movies and on the covers of magazines
possess the ideal figure. The author states Children are being taught...being fat is the worst thing
one can be (Bordo 1). This is disturbing to say the least. There many attributes worse than being
overweight: dishonest, cruel, and murderous to name a few. Bordo also uses an example in the
first paragraph of her essay that is appalling. Alicia Silverstone, the lead role in Clueless, was
completely bombarded with insults about her weight, though she had only gained a few pounds
since her starring role. The advertisers did

Tejano Conjunto Analysis
Elaborating on the modernist thrust of Tejano conjunto, PeГ±a addresses the musical innovation
during the post war period and attributes these changes to los mГєsicos modernos Valerio Longoria,
Tony De La rosa, Paulino Bernal, and RubГ©n Vela. The introduction of modern instruments, such
as Longoria s use of the modern danceband drums, was surely the most radical innovation ever
made within the tradition of conjunto. Dropping the tambora de rancho created an entirely new
dimension in that it altered the function of all the other instruments in the conjunto. Characterizing
Tony De La Rosa as the most influential, PeГ±a states De La Rosa standardized the use of modern
drum. Clearly, the addition of the drums (which included a floor bass... Show more content on

The Meanings of Madame Bovary Essay
The Meanings of Madame Bovary
Madame Bovary is the portrait of a woman trapped in an unsatisfactory marriage in a prosaic
bourgeois town. Her attempts to escape the monotony of her life through adulterous liaisons with
other men are ultimately thwarted by the reality that the men she has chosen are shallow and self
centered and that she has overstretched herself financially. In despair, Emma resolves her
predicament by taking her own life.
What should we make of this rather slight story, initially based on the life of a real woman who,
like Emma, scandalized her village with her affairs with other men and her extravagant lifestyle?
Is there a lesson or a moral to be drawn from Emma s folly and the tragedy of her death? Part ...

The challenge today s readers are left with is how to make sense of Emma s story.
A common interpretation of the novel maintains that Emma Bovary s downfall is due to the fact
that she is both foolish and romantically inclined. Emma comes to a tragic end because she has
been self dramatizing and impulsive and, above all, because she has believed in the ideals of the
Romantic literature of which she has been an avid consumer since adolescence. This is the view
adopted by many critics who have viewed Emma as mediocre and trite, her dreams shoddy, second
hand and second rate. The literary critic Allen Tate, for example, described Emma as a `silly, sad
and hysterical woman
(quoted in Brombert: 1966, p.84). For further discussion of this reading click on Emma: Victim
of her own Romanticism. Another view holds that Emma is an essentially tragic figure, a figure
of epic proportions whose ideals are thwarted by a petty and money grabbing society. The poet
and critic Charles Baudelaire, however, saw Emma as a heroic creation and described her as
`trГЁs sublime dans son espГЁce, dans son petit milieu et en face de son petit horizon (Baudelaire:
1976, p.83). She is a truly epic heroine in thrall to an excessive but splendid passion. She has heroic

Theodore Teddy Roosevelt (October 27, 1858 January 6, 1919) was the 26th President of the

The Pros And Cons Of Customs Union
The reason I chose Customs Union as my topic is to learn more about how members or potential
members of a union establish an agreement that benefit all parties. I find it interesting that
members of a union are able to influence one another s economic growth, competition and how
they can complement one another as well. Having a common trade policy among a group of
members and removing all barriers of trade can play a significant role in the success of a
business. It saves a lot money, and could be a competitive advantage over competitors. Countries
of a union joining can also impact its position in a global market, as well as help the country
economically. The ability for a group of countries to come together and help each other is
fascinating, and is why I chose to explore this topic more.
EXPLANATION OF KEY TERM
The third stage of Economic Integration is Customs Union. According to the Encyclopaedia of
Britannica, Customs Union is a trade agreement by which a group of countries charges a common
set of tariffs to the rest of the world while granting free trade among themselves (Encyclopedia
Britannica, 2010). Customs Union is free trade zone with common external tariffs; which helps
increase economic efficiency and allows for signatories to establish political and cultural ties.
Tariff barriers make it difficult for some countries to sell products in a foreign country because of
the additional taxes on imported goods, which is a price advantage to members of a

Process Reengineering (BPR) and Total Quality Management (TQM).The article gives a detail

have differences more than similarities. Instead of these differences both approaches used to
increase efficiencies of the organizations and are appropriate for different problems which are

BPR considered as radical redesign of processes and eliminated the old processes by introducing
new one. Many misconceptions and misapplications were associated to BPR at that time.
Many organizations assumed BPR as another name of downsizing and an excuse of restructuring.
But the Hammer Champy who are proponents of BPR refused to accept this assumption. Some
criticism were highlighted with this approach that it ignores the human element and made many
jobs redundant by shifting processes to computers. But again the Hammer Champy supported the
BPR and argued that BPR practices failed when it is not implemented properly. Empowerment of
employees is considered as a key to success of this approach.

Christian Teachings on Warfare Essay
Christian Teachings on Warfare For a war to be right in Christian teachings or for a war not to
be wrong in Christian teachings it must follow the just war theory. This would be the first and
main subject I would include in the booklet. The just war theory states that for a war to be called a
just war it must · Be declared by a proper authority. · There must be a just cause for the war
· The war must be of good intention (i.e. to do good or to over come an overpowering evil)
· The war must be a last resort (i.e. every non violent way of solving the war must have been
tried first) · The good the war will do must outweigh the harm · The war must be possible to

There are many references in the bible that have a certain, war related meaning, or at least you
can relate them to war. The reference thou shalt not kill (exodus 20) says that obviously you
should not kill . There is rarely a war where anyone is not killed, so again you could say that wars
in which people are killed are wrong. According to this, it would be near impossible for nuclear
war to be right, as you would find it near impossible to use nuclear weapons without killing
anyone! It is known that the blast from the Hiroshima bomb spread radiation for 36miles around,
and today, the power of one bomb has increased 750,000 fold from that of the Hiroshima bomb.
The results from the use of such a lethal weapon are horrifying. The loss of life would be
unimaginable. Thou shalt not kill , well… my point is obvious. Do unto others as you would
want done to you . Another bible reference (from the book of Matthew in the New Testament)
maybe not directly referring to war but it can be related to a war situation. Do not do anything that
you would not want doing to yourself, take for example killing. Would you want to be
killed… the chances are that you don t, so don t kill if you don t want to be killed. This
could be slightly turned around, as in a war situation you may kill people, but those people you
may kill would most likely have killed

Quality Control Technique
Introduction
Quality control is a technique used to evaluate objects that people use on a day to day basis. This
technique is used to evaluate the ingredients in food and see if they are accurate. The objective of
this quality control experiment was to examine different acid and base materials and test their pH
levels. As a part of the experiment, a procedure was formed to create NaOH and HCl standard
solutions and then conduct acid base titrations to decipher between the acid base materials. The
standard solutions were used to dilute the acid base materials for the titrations and then test what
pH level each one possessed. Titration was used for determining the quantity or concentration of a
substance in a solution (Dartmouth College, 1997). In this experiment, the substances were the acid
or base materials. As a hypothesis, the standard solution NaOH was going to determine the acidic
substance and the HCl solution was going to determine the basic substance.
Methods
Materials As a group, proper lab attire was worn at all times. Once the lab bins were obtained, other
materials were retrieved and brought back to the lab bench. The materials included pH strips and
reagent chemicals such as phenolphthalein and bromothymol blue. These reagent chemicals
emanate a certain color to help determine whether each substance was an acid or a base. According
to Senese (1997), Bromothymol turns blue when it comes in contact with a base and
phenolphthalein turns pink when it comes in

The Concept Of Dianetics And Scientology
Scientology, defined as the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and
other life, its aim, according to Hubbard is to create a civilization without insanity, without
criminals and without war; where the world can prosper and honest being can have rights, and
where free man is free to rise to greater heights (Wiki 2016). Sounds nice, but then again so does
finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The originator of the concept of dianetics and
scientology is named L. Ron Hubbard, born 1911 in small town Tilden, Nebraska. Said to be a

adaptation was aimed to gain access to and locate engrams in the human mind and erase them. A
construction of Hubbard s theories, an engram is a recorded moment of physical or emotional

age 4, had a little lamb, this lamb figured it did not like Mary anymore and gave her a nice head

whenever she drives by a sheep farm or a petting zoo she gets a headache. Erasing these engrams
is the path to what seems to be the ultimate goal of scientology which is becoming clear,
becoming clear would be Buddhism s equivalent to achieving a state of nirvana. While Hubbard s
theory that aspects of human behaviour might be explained as responses traumatic events and
past experiences makes perfect sense and that addressing these experiences may lead to a clear
mind, in the literal meaning of the word of course, as does the Buddha s version, do go things and
good things will happen, Hubbard s leap from addressing past conflict to the benefits of

Skara Brae- A Stone Age Village
Skara Brae is a Neolithic (stone age) village located on the Orkney Islands, found north of

by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., equality is the main issue and no one can get rid of it. In By the Waters Of
Babylon by Stephen Vincent Benet, technology and knowledge ruined the world so awful that the
only people left totally forgot about technology, even the simple pieces of technology like a sink.
Even though Harrison Bergeronand By the Waters of Babylon are two completely different stories,
the futures of them both end up being boring and depressing. They both also give warnings
about the future. In Harrison Bergeron, it is about how being equal and having total equality
throughout a country can totally ruin a it and in By the Waters of Babylon, it is about how the
knowledge of ourselves can ruin not only a city or state, but the whole world. In Harrison
Bergeron and By the Waters of Babylon, the future in both stories are gloomy and depressing.
First, in Harrison Bergeron, Vonnegut Jr. talks about how America would be like if everyone
was equal. But not just equal rights, actually equal, like equal strength, beauty, and intelligence.
The leader, the Handicapper General, put handicaps on everyone above average like weights,
masks, and even ear buzzers. George and Hazel were the parents of Harrison but Hazel was
average and George was above average. Because George was

Research Paper On Mike Tyson
You may have seen pictures and videos with odd things in the background. Maybe an onlooker to
something that happened way before Apple that was holding a MacBook. Could it be time travel?
Or is it our minds simply letting us see what we want to believe? Old Apple type footage from
1995 shows another time traveler using the high quality camera of an Apple iPhone6. How could
this be? Did someone invent time travel to only go back and watch Mike Tyson fights and Prince
before he became that symbol thing? Because that would be exactly what time travel should be
used for.
Mike Tyson Fan with iPhone
A video surfaced showing a Mike Tyson fight in 1995. This itself is not that strange. Well, a
sober and fit Mike Tyson is kind of an anomaly. Just kidding champ. The odd thing about the
1995 video is that behind Tyson, an iPhone can be vaguely seen. Someone ringside appears to be
taking an iPhoto of the fight. It isn t a definitive video, since HD was yet to exist. But it actually
does look like an iPhone. This would suggest that time travel does in fact exist. Would you travel

Slavery In African American History
Modern and historical forces combine to keep the racial hierarchy in the dominant cultures control.
Historically, slavery was diplomatically protected within our constitution safeguarding the control
and ownership of African Americans. The three fifths compromise written into the constitution in
1787, safeguarded slaveowners by greatly increase the representation and political power of slave
owning states (Laws, 2017). Slavery was widespread within the southern states until the year of
1865, when slavery and involuntary servitude were abolished, except for those duly convicted of a
crime. Between 1866 and 1870, through congress a radical reconstruction era was executed
ensuring guaranteed freedom and civil rights to former slaves. These turn of events, incensed
southern slave owners giving rise to white Supremacy and the Ku Klux Klan. Such historical events
and accounts help us understand present conditions for people of color through recognition of the
enduring struggle of those who have fought slavery and racism.... Show more content on

Lynching and stake burnings became a common occurrence and African Americans became objects

The Stereotype Of A Young Girl
1.As a young girl, I have always associated most white people with the quality of being rude or
racist. For example, not holding doors as I walked behind them or ignoring my friendly smiles
and/or comments. I vividly remember several occasions where I would be walking two steps
being a Caucasian person and they would fail to hold the door open allowing it to slam in my face.
There is also an uneasy stare that is given while shopping, such as following African Americans
around the store to watch them to make sure they are not stealing. The belief that white peopleare
rude is not limited to black people, but other minorities as well because their cultural beliefs and
practices are often disrespected.
2.The stereotype emerged from personal experiences throughout my daily life. My mother would
also agree that most individuals who are white are rude to minorities because of their sense of
entitlement. She would often have to console me because at a young age, I would acknowledge the
difference in treatment I received. In reference to other cultures, their cultural beliefs are often
disregarded and are not given the time to understand. When someone is not fluent in English, they
are often disregarded instead of taking the time is comprehend their statement. Blacks are
automatically characterized as thieves or hoodlums, Muslims are terrorist and Mexicans are all
labor workers, which are incorrect statements and over generalized.
3.As a result, thinking that most Caucasians

Iran s State Run Broadcast Media
Conversely, Iran s state run broadcast media, managed by pro regime loyalists, is a dominant
source of news for Iranians and the only media that hosts presidential debates. Yet, Iran s print
media culture offers a greater spectrum of information and opinions from across the political
gamut. The press has traditionally been considered one of the most important campaign tools for
candidates, both reformists and conservatives, but also as key resources for access to diverse
election news, debates and analyses for Iranian citizens. While the print media generally operated
with far greater editorial freedom than the heavily controlled state broadcaster, Irans print journalists
came under government scrutiny and monitoring during the 2013 election season. In addition to
security forces applying direct pressure in the forms of arrests, and imprisonment for example on
the news organizations to support pro regime candidates, editors and journalists were also warned
by intelligence officials against covering banned topics, such as Iran s economic troubles, the
possibility of international sanctions on Iran s nuclear program, negotiations with the United States
regarding Iraq and unrest among Iran s ethnic minorities. These restrictions on editorial freedom
were not just placed on the reformists though; conservative news outlets also received these
constraints. Many of the websites, blogs and news portals aligned with Ahmandinejad, and

How Is The Bourgeoisie Related To The Rise Of Capitalism
Although Karl Marx criticized the private property and exploitation of labor in the bourgeoisie
governed society, he contended that Capitalism was progressive in history. (p.67)The capitalist had
indeed played a revolutionary part in mode of production, of exchange, and relation of production.
The epoch of capitalism set a consolidated material basis by enhancing the productive force. The
rise of bourgeoisie propels novel and effective modes of production and improves people s living
standard. The bourgeoisie put up a manufacturing system with unskilled worker. The division of
labor in such system allows more workers to do easier tasks and thus increasing the commodity
production, when the traditional feudal economics could not satisfy the ... Show more content on

The economic power eventually developed into political power that supported the bourgeoisie to
replace the outdated aristocracy. Marx believed the instability of society came from the
incompatibility of the massive productive forces and its obsolete relation of production.(p.70)
Capitalism emerged in the age of feudalism, and was itself adapted to the feudal society well
enough in the early stage; however, having constantly improved its modes of production and of
exchange, at certain stage, the political and economic characters of feudal society impede the
development of productive forces. Therefore, capitalism began to set up a constitution to replace
the outmoded rule and furthering production. Therefore, French Revolution was a representation of
the middle class rebel against the feudalism to change the relation of production. The bourgeoisie,
although out of themselves profits, endeavor to terminate the feudal, patriarchal and idyllic relation

Tragedy And The Common Man
According to Aristotle s theory of tragedy, tragedies are best equipped to be based on a
protagonist that is renowned and prosperous, so his good fortune can be dramatically changed.
In contrast, Arthur Miller s essay Tragedy and the Common Man states that the common man is
as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings ever were. He proves in his modern essay
that the characteristics and emotions of the common man and the highly placed are entitled to
be similar. Miller even identifies emotions of a average person and how they result in a better
tragedy than those who are highly ranked. In his play Death of Salesman he demonstrates that
the normal life of a sales man can still make for a great tragedy and that his protagonist, Willy
Loman, is worthy of a tragedy. One of the central themes related to his essay and play is that the
presence of fear in a common man s life is more prevalent and perhaps draws us closer the
character. Willy Loman s fear of not meeting the standards to the successful people around him,
such as his brother and neighbor, and the failure in his job as a father that correlates with his
children s failures is the storyline Miller presents in his play that weights down the... Show more

Background
The use of fingerprints and handprint patterns as a means of personal identification dates back
to thousands of years. There were archaeological records of the usage of these by the Chinese
dating back to 2000 years ago (Stuart James, 2014, p. 331). As a matter of fact, in Babylon and
ancient China, fingerprints were routinely pressed into clay tablets (Figure 1). It is thought that
this was done for purposes of authenticating or perhaps just out of superstition (Farelo, 2009).
However, Sir William Herschel, a British administrator is credited for being the first European to
recognize the value of fingerprinting as a means of personal identification. When he was working
for the Civil Service of India, he entered into a contract with a local businessman and asked him to
put his right hand print on the back of the contract (Stuart James, 2014, p. 331). Apparently, in that
part of the country, traces of bodily impressions were considered more binding than signatures
(Saferstein, 2011, p. 4).

African History Chapter 1 Summary
The second chapter of Africans and their History starts off with discussing the very beginning of
African civilizations which includes talking about Charles Darwin s The Descent of Man and
how the first people originated from Africa instead of Asia like people once thought. The chapter
also delves into how the beings before homo sapiens began to evolve and slowly learn new skills.
Some of these skills include hunting, creating fire, learning to make clothes and many other useful
strategies to for the people living at the time. As time went on, Africans learned to make more
useful agriculture tools with the help of iron. Iron was a huge technological advancement around
2000 B.C. giving the people of the time many new ways to grow and harvest plants more efficiently.

How Conflict Affects Relationships
I feel as though that sometimes no one will help those with conflicts, perhaps because they don t
know what to do or maybe because they think the person should work through it themselves. Those
are two different reactions, but the second one is more harsh. The first means you probably have at
least attempted to help, but the second one seems almost selfish, like you know that personenough
to know they can and can t handle by themselves. Truthfully, we do not know what we, ourselves,
can handle often times. Those to seem to have their fair share of similarities and differences, but I
have seen they don t help because they truly believe there is nothing that can be done, that it s
hopeless.
Ordinarily, conflicts as a child affects people a lot, whether that be minor or major conflicts, they
affect how you may see certain things. No matter the conflicts, though, whether they be societal or
with someone, they seem to always affect how you feel about yourself and how you deal with

Professor Dartley
4/16/15
Albert Einstein Most people know who Albert Einstein is and how great of a physicist he was,
yet many aren t aware that Albert Einstein had not even finished high school! Most would think
that a person who doesn t complete high school is dumb, and lazy. The fact is, Einstein did not
complete high school, not because he was dumb or lazy. At the age of 15, he quit high school
because he did not agree with the way the teachers taught. He thought that the teacher s weren t
teaching in a way that didn t allow students to freely question or use their creative imagination.
Einstein once said Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. By this he shows that
he isn t for seeing things the way they seem, and he tends to think deeper into things. He shows
that he keeps his mind open, open to learn new things that can t be noticed by a simple glance.
Many would also think that one who drops out of high school may not go anywhere in life.
Einstein won a Nobel Prize in Physics, a Gold Medal of The Royal Astronomical Society, and many
other awards. Even if Einstein never even finished high school, his creation of the equation E =
mc2, theory of relativity, and theory of light led the way to him becoming known as the father of
modern physics. Albert Einstein was Born in Ulm, WГјrttemberg, Germany in 1879. He was the
son of Hermann Einstein, a salesman and engineer who was the head of Elektrotechnische Fabrik J.

her parents might think are her biggest fears. The fetus growing inside her is almost 11 weeks and
has her own story from the inside. Mentioning all of the growth that has occurred and the
development milestones she has reached, the fetus is concerned of her own well being. The doctor

4. What are the hormonal and physical changes going on in Amber during her pregnancy? What is
keeping her from menstruating as normal?
Physiological changes occurring in Amber s body are happening in her gastrointestinal, urinary,
respiratory and cardiovascular system. She is feeling sick because of the increased hCG,
progesterone and estrogen levels. Her story is only until her 11th week of her pregnancy, but she
may feel many symptoms throughout the rest of her pregnancy if it is not aborted. Those
symptoms could be increased urination because the kidneys are disposing of fetal metabolic waste
as well as her own. Blood volume also rises to help accommodate the fetus needs (Marieb amp;
Hoehn 2013).
An over production of the hormone progesterone is created which stops the follicle stimulating
hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Those are the hormones needed for an egg to be
released and travel down into the uterus for a menstruation cycle. If that does not occur, there is not
menstruation (Marieb amp; Hoehn 2013)
5. How does a pregnancy test work?
At home pregnancy tests can be purchased over the counter or a blood test can be performed at the
doctor s office. They both check for the human Chorionic Gonadotropin, hCG, hormone that is
produced during pregnancy. The home pregnancy test uses urine, and the doctor s office tests blood
(Women s Health 2006).

Discovery Of Naledi Research Paper
In the historical year of 2013, two amateur cave explorers, Rick Hunter and Steven Tucker,
discovered a primitive human like species in a cave in South Africa. After two years, Lee Berger,
a professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa was tipped off by
the cavers, who had explored the deep cave to find multiple fossils. Berger and his team soon
identified the multitude of fossils as a primitive human. This revolutionary discovery has added an
ancestor to our evolutionary tree. This specie, named naledi, has been classified into the genus,
Homo, which includes modern humans. However, due to lack of information, this specie is thought

On the other hand, its skull shows progressive shape, small teeth, long legs, and modern human

underground, in a burial site. The fossils were found unharmed and the environment had no sign
of a calamity. This leads scientists to believe that these early humans had intentionally taken
thought into the burial of their dead. Until the moment of discovery of naledi, I would have
probably said to you that it was our defining character. The idea of burial of the dead or ritualized
body disposal is something utterly uniquely human, says Berger. This idea of another people
intentionally burying its dead has left many scientists to question human identity. After all, if this
specie was found after many years proving it has been involved in burial rituals before, what
others may we find in the future. It absolutely questions what makes us human. And I don t think
we know anymore what does, Berger states. In other words, how many more secrets are out there .

For parents to be having such a large concern over whether children s programming is becoming

most likely to encounter sexual content, with three quarters of kids saying they had seen sexual
material there, which shows that this is becoming an increasing problem (Saskatchewan

Evolution And Catastrophes
Patterns of Vertebrate Evolution and Catastrophes
Catastrophic events, such as mass extinctions, floods, earthquakes, disease, and more recently war,
are all events that have shaped vertebrate evolution through time. In prehistoric times, mass
extinctions have been caused by asteroid and meteor impacts, which can cause serious
environmental damage by ejecting dust and debris (Carpenter and Bishop, 2009). The stress from
the impact could trigger additional earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, and would further eradicate
living species from the globe following the direct impact of an asteroid or meteor (Carpenter and

The phenology of vertebrates was greatly altered by the mass extinctions and catastrophes that
have occurred in history and still have an effect on vertebrates today. The main hypothesis for the
global climate change following mass extinctions, particularly the Cretaceous Paleogene (KPg), is
black carbon spread throughout the globe and altered solar radiation to create a system of global
cooling (Kaiho et al., 2016). The cooling of the Earth s temperature created a sudden drop in
precipitation and a 50 60% decrease in sunlight following the impact of the asteroid (Kaiho et al.,
2016). Research shows that following the impact of the KPg extinction precipitation has
substantially decreased and depends on the latitude (Kaiho 2016). The Late Ordovician mass
extinction was the first of the Big Five and can be clearly connected with climate change (Finnegan
et al., 2012). The Late Ordovician mass extinction can be explained by the climactic common cause
hypothesis, which states that climate cooling has a direct influence on extinction rates by forcing
tropical taxa to live in climates that did not match their niche (Finnegan et al., 2012). In a research
study done on the effects of climate change in the Late Ordovician, patterns of thermal tolerance
range indicators show cooling and habitat loss as an important driver

Architecture Of The Renaissance Period
The Renaissance period was a time filled with new ideas and developments that changed European
society. Many cultural and scientific advances were made during this period, especially in
architecture and medicine. As Arthur Ericsson states the period was studded by the names of
architects such as Filippo Brunelleschi and Donato Bramante, whose creations are recorded as great
historical events. The Renaissanceperiod is also well known for the new scientific discoveries made
through the examination of the human body. The European society changed greatly during the
Renaissance period due to the many cultural and scientific advances made particularly in
architecture and medicine.
The architecture of the Renaissance period replaced the medieval gothic style with a style
representing the rebirth of classical civilization. One of the famous architects in the early
Renaissance was Filippo Brunelleschi. Through looking at the old Roman and Greek architecture,
he was able to bring back the old traditional buildings and arches, but in a more effective and
proportional way. In the early Renaissance, the Florentines fathers created a competition for the
ideal dome design. Many architects came from all around Europe to showcase their designs.
Brunelleschi had won for his amazing yet risky plan. He designed the dome with two concentric
shells. The inner shell facing the inside of the cathedral, and the outer shell would be a large dome.
He bound the walls with tension rings of

Organized Crime In The 1920s Essay
After World War I, the attitude of Americans in the United States changed drastically. For the first
time, more people lived in cities than in rural areas (Danzer 640). Trends including superficial fads,
professional sports, new types of music, and the idea of celebrities represented the establishment of
pop culture during the Roaring 20s (Fagnilli 46). Challenging the values and practices of the
traditional American, many individuals, usually young people, introduced casual dating, more
revealing clothing, birth control, and new styles of dancing (Fagnilli 45 46). Although the 1920s
were considered the good times, there was a darker side to this era, including a rise in
unemployment, organized crime, and an irrational fear of communism. In the 1920s, many citizens
were left without a job as unemployment rates increased. During World War 1, the United Stateshad
established a butter to guns policy, meaning they shifted much of the production of consumer
goods to production of war materials (Fagnilli 39). However, most of the nine million people who
had worked in war... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Prohibition actually led to a rise of organized crime in the United States (Sullivan). The
18th Amendment was disregarded by many Americans, who opened secret drinking clubs called
speakeasies (Danzer 642). The public needed a provider of this illegal alcohol, leading to the rise
of crime organizations (Sullivan). Many of these organizations specialized in bootlegging alcohol,
usually from Canada or the Caribbean (Sullivan). The Chicago Outfit, a criminal network led by Al
Capone, often literally killed off their competition, massacring members of rival gangs and crime
organizations (Sullivan). Eventually, many came to believe Prohibition was the cause of these
problems, and the 18th Amendment was repealed by the 21st Amendment in

Euthanasia In Me Before You, By Jojo Moyes
In the book Me Before You, the author Jojo Moyes chooses to illustrate the importance of
euthanasia as an option for ending your life if unable to live it to it s full potential. Moyes
character, William Traynor had a perfect life before the accident that left him paralyzed and
unwilling to live. Some may see the novel as just another story about troubled love, but it has a
deeper, underlying message that Jojo Moyes wishes to express. The author wants to bring up the
issue of euthanasiaand discuss the different sides that people may have on it and the fine line
between what is right and morally wrong. Jojo Moyes wants to educate the reader on euthanasia
through insight on the feelings of the disabled, the people around them, and clues to... Show more

Before the accident, his life was perfect in every way. He was active, adventurous, and had an
amazing job and an amazing girlfriend, and now that he is disabled, he can t have any of that.
Everywhere he looks, he is reminded of the life he used to have and he can t possibly imagine
living in any other way. While it is true that most disabled people still wish to live, Moyes
chooses to show the side of people who do not. Will sees his old friends making new
relationships and moving on without him. This reality truly sets in when his old girlfriend
Alicia and his old best friend drop by to give him some news, I thought, we thought that it would
only be right to let you know...but, well, here s the thing. Rupert and I are getting married. But,
you know, life goes on. You must know that. It s been two years, after all (56). Will s depression
had pushed them away from him and now, hearing that they are moving on has only made him
more upset. For Will, everyday life reminds him of what he can t have and what a disadvantage
he is at. Just a simple outing that may have been fun, can turn disastrous because of his disability,
like when his wheelchair got stuck in the mud at the track. By showing the reader these
inconveniences for Will and the people around him , Moyes reveals that even if Will were to
come out of his depression, he will never be able to escape the reality that life is is just not the
same, and therefore, euthanasia should be an accepted

Observation Of General Education
Recently, I had the opportunity to observe several general education classes taught by a single
teacher that each contained one or more students who have special needs. Within these classes, I
was able to discern how both they and the teacher dealt with their disabilities as well as how they
functioned within the atmosphere of general education. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss
my observations on three remarkable students and their teacher including their physical, mental and
social development.
General Information
As mentioned above, all of my observations were in several general education classrooms taught
by a single teacher, which henceforth, in order to protect the confidentiality of the students
within the classroom, I will refer to as Mr. Bubbles. All of the classrooms I observed were
general math classes and were full of students ranging from freshman to junior in age groups.
Within these classes, I observed a wide range of accommodations for three main students, whom I
will refer to as Joey, Jeremy, and Tom, including one on one sessions, shortened assignments and
tests, and allotted break areas. Due to the parameters of the permission I received to observe in the
classroom, I was not able to secure any information on their family interactions, or any other
personal dynamics (I was not able to ask personal questions about the students), thus all of my
information will be limited to my conversations as well as what happened solely within Mr. Bubbles

  • 2. The Book Of Psalms Psalms Author Like most books in the Bible, the author of the Book of Psalms cannot be undeniably determined; authorship of Psalms is not perfectly clear to modern biblical scholars, as the book s history is a combined account of fact and religious tradition However, modern scholars are able to conclude that Psalms was written over approximately nine hundred years. It is believed that from the 1400s to the 500s BCE, Jewish and Christian traditions suppose that Moses wrote the first of the Psalms, and the latest Psalms were written by the Israelites during the Babylonian captivity (Nowell 794 797). On the other hand, some Psalms identify their authors by name, including: King David, Asaph, descendants of Korah, King Solomon, Heman, and Ethan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hymns sung in churches today contain the exact wording as the Psalms. In addition to hymnals, the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls raised question about the date of Book of Psalms. According to modern scholars, The earlier consensus that the book of Psalms reached its final form around the 4th century B.C. has been challenged because of discrepancies found in scrolls at the Dead Sea, (Browning). Also, The best extant copies of the Masoretic Text are from the 10th to the 11th century A.D., but the discovery of several scrolls and fragments at the Dead Sea has provided versions of Hebrew psalms from the period between the 2d century B.C. and the 1st century A.D. (Nowell 794 797). The Dead Sea Scrolls were vital in providing concrete evidence of the Book of Psalms, regardless of the questions they brought up about the date of the book. The Dead Sea Scrolls show that, ...in the NT there are many quotations from the psalms (The Oxford Encyclopedia...). • 3. Characteristics Of The Romantic Period The term used to describe European art, literature and music from 1780 to 1840 is the word romantic . One of the reasons that scholars chose to call this the Romantic Period was because of the exaggeration in expression of human emotion during it. This is commonly seen as the main characteristic of the period, but there are many others that cannot be ignored. Within Romantic literature, there was a preoccupation with economic and political issues due to the industrial revolution, a development of female writers and gothic fiction, and themes of nature, for Poland specifically, and future fate of the country. A common misconception about the Romantic Period is that it was flawless and perfect. But, in reality there was economic recession, widespread unemployment, and indirect taxation (30 Great Myths about the Romantics xiv) due to urbanization and the Industrial Revolution. This led Adam Smith, David Ricardo, David Malthus, Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill to publish their works which would help reshape and guide economics and politics during their time, and in the future. Accompanying the publication of their works, there were people who critiqued their published theories. Those who critiqued them most commonly believed that the authors ideologies were too commercial. Some authors who portrayed their disapproval of the political economy were Coleridge, Southey, Wodsworth, Shelley and Blake (King 47). For example, in Song to the Men of England by Shelley, there ... • 5. Susan Bordo Never Just Pictures Summary In the article Never Just Pictures, the author, Susan Bordo, addresses the cultural reasons behind the rise in eating disorders. She asserts that modern media and advertising campaigns have played an integral role in this increase. Though unfortunate, the media s focus is not on the well being of its viewers, but on the level of cash flow they provide. The advertisingmoguls use their agencies as double edged swords; they will make ads for McDonalds, then go in the next room and conduct a photo shoot with a six foot two, eighty pound woman. The world of advertising needs to realize their work is being seen by millions of people and is affecting some of those people in extremely negative ways. The author of this article begins her analysis of the rise in eating disorders by acknowledging America s obsession with being the ideal weight. From an extremely young age, American children are being taught that women in movies and on the covers of magazines possess the ideal figure. The author states Children are being taught...being fat is the worst thing one can be (Bordo 1). This is disturbing to say the least. There many attributes worse than being overweight: dishonest, cruel, and murderous to name a few. Bordo also uses an example in the first paragraph of her essay that is appalling. Alicia Silverstone, the lead role in Clueless, was completely bombarded with insults about her weight, though she had only gained a few pounds since her starring role. The advertisers did ... • 7. The Meanings of Madame Bovary Essay The Meanings of Madame Bovary Madame Bovary is the portrait of a woman trapped in an unsatisfactory marriage in a prosaic bourgeois town. Her attempts to escape the monotony of her life through adulterous liaisons with other men are ultimately thwarted by the reality that the men she has chosen are shallow and self centered and that she has overstretched herself financially. In despair, Emma resolves her predicament by taking her own life. What should we make of this rather slight story, initially based on the life of a real woman who, like Emma, scandalized her village with her affairs with other men and her extravagant lifestyle? Is there a lesson or a moral to be drawn from Emma s folly and the tragedy of her death? Part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The challenge today s readers are left with is how to make sense of Emma s story. A common interpretation of the novel maintains that Emma Bovary s downfall is due to the fact that she is both foolish and romantically inclined. Emma comes to a tragic end because she has been self dramatizing and impulsive and, above all, because she has believed in the ideals of the Romantic literature of which she has been an avid consumer since adolescence. This is the view adopted by many critics who have viewed Emma as mediocre and trite, her dreams shoddy, second hand and second rate. The literary critic Allen Tate, for example, described Emma as a `silly, sad and hysterical woman (quoted in Brombert: 1966, p.84). For further discussion of this reading click on Emma: Victim of her own Romanticism. Another view holds that Emma is an essentially tragic figure, a figure of epic proportions whose ideals are thwarted by a petty and money grabbing society. The poet and critic Charles Baudelaire, however, saw Emma as a heroic creation and described her as `trГЁs sublime dans son espГЁce, dans son petit milieu et en face de son petit horizon (Baudelaire: 1976, p.83). She is a truly epic heroine in thrall to an excessive but splendid passion. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Customs Union The reason I chose Customs Union as my topic is to learn more about how members or potential members of a union establish an agreement that benefit all parties. I find it interesting that members of a union are able to influence one another s economic growth, competition and how they can complement one another as well. Having a common trade policy among a group of members and removing all barriers of trade can play a significant role in the success of a business. It saves a lot money, and could be a competitive advantage over competitors. Countries of a union joining can also impact its position in a global market, as well as help the country economically. The ability for a group of countries to come together and help each other is fascinating, and is why I chose to explore this topic more. EXPLANATION OF KEY TERM The third stage of Economic Integration is Customs Union. According to the Encyclopaedia of Britannica, Customs Union is a trade agreement by which a group of countries charges a common set of tariffs to the rest of the world while granting free trade among themselves (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2010). Customs Union is free trade zone with common external tariffs; which helps increase economic efficiency and allows for signatories to establish political and cultural ties. The reference thou shalt not kill (exodus 20) says that obviously you should not kill . There is rarely a war where anyone is not killed, so again you could say that wars in which people are killed are wrong. According to this, it would be near impossible for nuclear war to be right, as you would find it near impossible to use nuclear weapons without killing anyone! It is known that the blast from the Hiroshima bomb spread radiation for 36miles around, and today, the power of one bomb has increased 750,000 fold from that of the Hiroshima bomb. The results from the use of such a lethal weapon are horrifying. The loss of life would be unimaginable. Thou shalt not kill , well… my point is obvious. Do unto others as you would want done to you . Another bible reference (from the book of Matthew in the New Testament) maybe not directly referring to war but it can be related to a war situation. Do not do anything that you would not want doing to yourself, take for example killing. Would you want to be killed… the chances are that you don t, so don t kill if you don t want to be killed. • 14. Quality Control Technique Introduction Quality control is a technique used to evaluate objects that people use on a day to day basis. This technique is used to evaluate the ingredients in food and see if they are accurate. The objective of this quality control experiment was to examine different acid and base materials and test their pH levels. As a part of the experiment, a procedure was formed to create NaOH and HCl standard solutions and then conduct acid base titrations to decipher between the acid base materials. The standard solutions were used to dilute the acid base materials for the titrations and then test what pH level each one possessed. Titration was used for determining the quantity or concentration of a substance in a solution (Dartmouth College, 1997). In this experiment, the substances were the acid or base materials. As a hypothesis, the standard solution NaOH was going to determine the acidic substance and the HCl solution was going to determine the basic substance. Methods Materials As a group, proper lab attire was worn at all times. Once the lab bins were obtained, other materials were retrieved and brought back to the lab bench. The materials included pH strips and reagent chemicals such as phenolphthalein and bromothymol blue. These reagent chemicals emanate a certain color to help determine whether each substance was an acid or a base. According to Senese (1997), Bromothymol turns blue when it comes in contact with a base and phenolphthalein turns pink when it comes in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Iran s State Run Broadcast Media Conversely, Iran s state run broadcast media, managed by pro regime loyalists, is a dominant source of news for Iranians and the only media that hosts presidential debates. Yet, Iran s print media culture offers a greater spectrum of information and opinions from across the political gamut. The press has traditionally been considered one of the most important campaign tools for candidates, both reformists and conservatives, but also as key resources for access to diverse election news, debates and analyses for Iranian citizens. While the print media generally operated with far greater editorial freedom than the heavily controlled state broadcaster, Irans print journalists came under government scrutiny and monitoring during the 2013 election season. In addition to security forces applying direct pressure in the forms of arrests, and imprisonment for example on the news organizations to support pro regime candidates, editors and journalists were also warned by intelligence officials against covering banned topics, such as Iran s economic troubles, the possibility of international sanctions on Iran s nuclear program, negotiations with the United States regarding Iraq and unrest among Iran s ethnic minorities. These restrictions on editorial freedom were not just placed on the reformists though; conservative news outlets also received these constraints. Tragedy And The Common Man According to Aristotle s theory of tragedy, tragedies are best equipped to be based on a protagonist that is renowned and prosperous, so his good fortune can be dramatically changed. In contrast, Arthur Miller s essay Tragedy and the Common Man states that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings ever were. He proves in his modern essay that the characteristics and emotions of the common man and the highly placed are entitled to be similar. Miller even identifies emotions of a average person and how they result in a better tragedy than those who are highly ranked. In his play Death of Salesman he demonstrates that the normal life of a sales man can still make for a great tragedy and that his protagonist, Willy Loman, is worthy of a tragedy. One of the central themes related to his essay and play is that the presence of fear in a common man s life is more prevalent and perhaps draws us closer the character. Fingerprinting: History and Background The use of fingerprints and handprint patterns as a means of personal identification dates back to thousands of years. There were archaeological records of the usage of these by the Chinese dating back to 2000 years ago (Stuart James, 2014, p. 331). As a matter of fact, in Babylon and ancient China, fingerprints were routinely pressed into clay tablets (Figure 1). It is thought that this was done for purposes of authenticating or perhaps just out of superstition (Farelo, 2009). However, Sir William Herschel, a British administrator is credited for being the first European to recognize the value of fingerprinting as a means of personal identification. When he was working for the Civil Service of India, he entered into a contract with a local businessman and asked him to put his right hand print on the back of the contract (Stuart James, 2014, p. 331).
