Community provides concrete, tangible resources that are
really dynamic, interesting & meaningful for teaching &
learning
Community is a child’s laboratory for having first hand
learning about the ways of living
Community with its rich & varied resources can enrich &
supplement learning
Community Resources
 Places of civic interest- village panchayat, state legislature
 Places of cultural interest- art theatre, radio stations, museums, zoo, library
 Places of commercial & economic interest- banks, farms, factories, telephone
exchange
 Places of geographical interest- dams, lakes, tea gardens, water falls
 Places of historical interest – caves, forts, mosque, churches
 Places of scientific interest – thermal- hydro power plants, broadcasting

 Government buildings – police stations, law courts etc
 Forms of social control – attitudes, beliefs, rituals, ceremonies etc
