This document outlines the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach developed by Charles Curran and his associates. CLT focuses on interaction between learners and teachers, and views human learning as both cognitive and affective. It defines the roles of teachers as responding calmly and relating affect to cognition, while learners interact with the community and express themselves freely. A variety of activities are used, including translation, group work, recording, transcription, and conversation.
