Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance and Maria Susanna Cummins The
Lamplighter are vastly different books. While originally published within two years
of each other, both authors approached their writing through distinctive practices.
Hawthorne failed to show development in the majority of his characters in his
romance, while Cummins sentimental novelis heavily loaded with positive character
growth. After reading The Blithedale Romanceand The Lamplighter, one of the main
differences noted is how the development of the characters, specifically female, was
addressed within the novels.
The manner in which Hawthorne depicts women is rather unfavorable toward the
female sex. While Coverdale exhibits a feminist stance in his argument that women
be considered equal, there is a blatant inequality of the characters. Priscilla, the

Leadership Experience
My Catholic School leadership experience stems from years of being involved in
my diocese, first as a student, then as an employee and then as a mother who raised
and educated three children in that diocese. I am a firm supporter of Catholic
education as I have experienced the benefits that only a Christ centered learning
environment can provide as a student, parent and educator.

The Courageous Acts of Arlen Specter
In history there are people that make an impact on the world and some that do not.
The choice to do something worth talking about is not necessarily up to us, but up to
the opportunities we are willing to take. It takes courage to open these doors to
opportunity, and it takes even more courage to walk through the doors that open. The
philadelphia senator Arlen Specter is a man who took advantage of the the
opportunities he was given in order to make a difference in our lives today. Arlen
Specter was born february 12, 1930 in wichita Kansas ( Arlen Specter. Gale
Biography) and served in the air force, before being elected to the senate in 1980
and serving until 2011 ( Arlen Specter. American Government). Throughout his term
Specter brought controversy about topics that needed attention and stood his ground
when pushed ( Arlen Specter. American Government). Arlen Specter showed an act
of courage in the late 1900s as he stood up to support minority groups. Courage was
demonstrated greatly when Arlen Specter, a republican senator, stood up against
hate crimes. Arlen Specter along with Edward Kennedy, co sponsored the Fair
Housing Amendments Act 1988 ( Members of Congress ). This act said that
unlawful to discriminate against when selling or renting a living place. This law
was congress s way to try and suppress discrimination in race, along with sex and

Hunt Descriptive Writing
Waking up before the rising sun on the morning of the hunt left me feeling groggy
with my eyes slow to open and close when blinking. Being extra quiet to not wake
up my mother was a main challenge, trying to tippy toe around the cabin and
dodging the creaky spots in the floor. Prior to eating breakfast, I began getting
dressed. Due to the fact that I was in northern Minnesota, the weather was bone
chilling and the wind would seep right through your layers onto your unexpecting
skin. Once I had put on my long johns, sweatpants, and long sleeve shirt with a tee
shirt on top I began to make my breakfast. I had decided to have scrambled eggs
that were cooked to perfection with the yolk golden mixed in with the pure snow
white egg white and flakes of pepper sprinkled throughout and toast with butter
melted onto the crunchy outside making it soft with homemade strawberry jam
spread thick on top. After I had finished my meal I continued getting ready. In
doing so I put on the remainder of my clothes, my sweatshirt and hunting pants
came next followed by my wool socks and winter hunting boots. Next I checked to
make sure my backpack was ready and had all the essentials in it in case something
were to happen. Lastly I grabbed my already loaded sleek black shotgun and put on
my heaving winter coat, hats and gloves. Now I was ready to begin my hunt.
