The document discusses how the role of the classroom teacher is changing in the information age. Historically, teachers acted as transmitters of information in a teacher-centered environment, but now the role is shifting to facilitator in a learner-centered environment. Effective learning tasks in the information age are creative, purposeful, and allow student contribution and control. For technology in education to succeed, teachers must address their instructional assumptions and beliefs and be willing to relax classroom control and engage learners. The document discusses the challenges of implementing smart schools in Malaysia. It outlines 6 main challenges: (1) lack of proper technological infrastructure in schools, (2) teachers and staff lacking competency to use information and communication technology devices, (3) students being too passive in smart school settings, (4) low levels of awareness among all stakeholders, (5) pressure from heavy exam-focused syllabi leaving little time, and (6) time constraints making full utilization of technology difficult. The conclusion maintains that while the smart school policy aims to develop skilled students, fully realizing this goal requires addressing these challenges through emphasizing teacher and student experiences and viewpoints in implementing changes.
In their relatively short history of 6 years, MOOCs have rapidly grown into a major force in higher education. However, issues and questions remain about whether MOOCs can fulfill expectations of affordable education for all with few learning problems. While MOOCs offer opportunities, their high dropout rates and focus on learning outputs rather than outcomes are concerns. Going forward, questions remain about how to support learner autonomy, enable shorter learning experiences, and encourage ongoing, social learning that balances authoritative content and knowledge sharing.

INTRODUCTION
Information related to technical knowledge is humongous in this information technology age. The knowledge includes classical theory, principle, understanding, know-how, philosophy, and technology that researchers and engineers developed and accumulated over years until up-to-date research outputs and new inventions of a particular field of interest. In general, this pool of knowledge is termed as “literature.” With this, researchers and engineers are able to save their precious time and resources NOT to reinventing the wheel; without any strong justification to repeat the work/experiment/procedure that had been done previously. Depending on current technology, literature in electronic and hardcopy format can easily be obtained and accessed using appropriate tools and techniques. The main challenges here are (1) to identify the genuine and reliability of the literature and (2) to convert those humongous literatures to useful knowledge that eventually benefits to the user. In this training course, the importance of literature review leading to form useful technical knowledge will be presented in an easy-to-follow manner.
COURSE OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
i. Define the terms “information,” “literature” and “literature review.”
ii. Explain the importance of literature review.
iii. Determine the genuine and reliable information/literature.
iv. Perform effectively literature review via systematic way.
v. Correlate literature with intended knowledge to solve technical issues.

This document summarizes a presentation on the Convergence Theory of Learning given by Arlynne Awayan at the Conference on Learning, Teaching and Learning 2017. The Convergence Theory of Learning is a conceptual framework that depicts how knowledge is absorbed, processed, and retained through a process of converging critical, systems, and design thinking with motivation, mindfulness, metacognition, and multi-modal mentoring to cultivate integrity, solidarity, and creativity in learners. The theory involves three phases - emergence to increase instructional success through questioning, divergence to examine problems using the three modalities of thinking, and convergence to arrive at deep learning through an integrated application of the thinking modalities.
