Image processing, arbitrarily manipulating an image to achieve an aesthetic standard or to support a preferred reality. The objective of segmentation is partitioning an image into distinct regions containing each pixels with similar attributes. Image segmentation can be done using thresholding, color space segmentation, k-means clustering.
Segmentation is the low-level operation concerned with partitioning images by determining disjoint and homogeneous regions or, equivalently, by finding edges or boundaries. The homogeneous regions, or the edges, are supposed to correspond, actual objects, or parts of them, within the images. Thus, in a large number of applications in image processing and computer vision, segmentation plays a fundamental role as the first step before applying to images higher-level operations such as recognition, semantic interpretation, and representation. Until very recently, attention has been focused on segmentation of gray-level images since these have been the only kind of visual information that acquisition devices were able to take the computer resources to handle. Nowadays, color image has definitely displaced monochromatic information and computation power is no longer a limitation in processing large volumes of data. In this paper proposed hybrid k-means with watershed segmentation algorithm is used segment the images. Filtering techniques is used as noise filtration method to improve the results and PSNR, MSE performance parameters has been calculated and shows the level of accuracy

Sobel edge operator, which is very popular edge detection algorithms, is considered in this work. Sobel method uses the derivative approximation to find edge and perform 2-D spatial gradient measurement for images uses horizontal and vertical gradient matrices .The fpga device providing good performance of integrated circuit platform for research and development. The compact structure of image segmentation into edge detection can be implemented in MAT LAB using VHDL code and the waveform is shown in the model sim.. Correlation clustering which is a graph partitioning algorithm, was shown to be effective in a number of applications such as identification, clustering of documents and image segmentation.The partitioning result is derived from a algorithm to partition a pairwise graph into disjoint groups of coherent nodes. In the pairwise correlation clustering, the pairwise graph which is used in the correlation clustering is generalized to a superpixel graph where a node corresponds to a superpixel and a link between adjacent superpixels corresponds to an edge. This pairwise correlation clustering also considers the feature vector which extracts several visual cues from a superpixel, including brightness, color, texture, and shape. Significant progress in clustering has been achieved by algorithms that are based on pairwise affinities between the datasets. The experimental results are shown by calculating the typical cut and inference in an undirected graphical model and datasets.

ADOPTING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SELF ORGANIZING FEATURE MAP FOR IMAGE FUSIONijistjournal
A different image fusion algorithm based on self organizing feature map is proposed in this paper, aiming to produce quality images. Image Fusion is to integrate complementary and redundant information from multiple images of the same scene to create a single composite image that contains all the important features of the original images. The resulting fused image will thus be more suitable for human and machine perception or for further image processing tasks. The existing fusion techniques based on either direct operation on pixels or segments fail to produce fused images of the required quality and are mostly application based. The existing segmentation algorithms become complicated and time consuming when multiple images are to be fused. A new method of segmenting and fusion of gray scale images adopting Self organizing Feature Maps(SOM) is proposed in this paper. The Self Organizing Feature Maps is adopted to produce multiple slices of the source and reference images based on various combination of gray scale and can dynamically fused depending on the application. The proposed technique is adopted and analyzed for fusion of multiple images. The technique is robust in the sense that there will be no loss in information due to the property of Self Organizing Feature Maps; noise removal in the source images done during processing stage and fusion of multiple images is dynamically done to get the desired results. Experimental results demonstrate that, for the quality multifocus image fusion, the proposed method performs better than some popular image fusion methods in both subjective and objective qualities.

Image fusion is a sub field of image processing in which more than one images are fused to create an image where all the objects are in focus. The process of image fusion is performed for multi-sensor and multi-focus images of the same scene. Multi-sensor images of the same scene are captured by different sensors whereas multi-focus images are captured by the same sensor. In multi-focus images, the objects in the scene which are closer to the camera are in focus and the farther objects get blurred. Contrary to it, when the farther objects are focused then closer objects get blurred in the image. To achieve an image where all the objects are in focus, the process of images fusion is performed either in spatial domain or in transformed domain. In recent times, the applications of image processing have grown immensely. Usually due to limited depth of field of optical lenses especially with greater focal length, it becomes impossible to obtain an image where all the objects are in focus. Thus, it plays an important role to perform other tasks of image processing such as image segmentation, edge detection, stereo matching and image enhancement. Hence, a novel feature-level multi-focus image fusion technique has been proposed which fuses multi-focus images. Thus, the results of extensive experimentation performed to highlight the efficiency and utility of the proposed technique is presented. The proposed work further explores comparison between fuzzy based image fusion and neuro fuzzy fusion technique along with quality evaluation indices.
OBJECT SEGMENTATION USING MULTISCALE MORPHOLOGICAL OPERATIONSijcseit
Object segmentation plays an important role in human visual perception, medical image processing and content based image retrieval. It provides information for recognition and interpretation. This paper uses mathematical morphology for image segmentation. Object segmentation is difficult because one usually does not know a priori what type of object exists in an image, how many different shapes are there and what regions the image has. To carryout discrimination and segmentation several innovative segmentation methods, based on morphology are proposed. The present study proposes segmentation method based on multiscale morphological reconstructions. Various sizes of structuring elements have been used to segment simple and complex shapes. It enhances local boundaries that may lead to improve segmentation accuracy.The method is tested on various datasets and results shows that it can be used for both interactive and automatic segmentation.

Medical image fusion is the process of registering and combining multiple images from single or multiple imaging modalities to improve the imaging quality and reduce randomness and redundancy in order to increase the clinical applicability of medical images for diagnosis and assessment of medical problems. Multimodal medical image fusion algorithms and devices have shown notable achievements in improving clinical accuracy of decisions based on medical images. The domain where image fusion is readily used nowadays is in medical diagnostics to fuse medical images such as CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and MRA. This paper aims to present a new algorithm to improve the quality of multimodality medical image fusion using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) approach. Discrete Wavelet transform has been implemented using different fusion techniques including pixel averaging, maximum minimum and minimum maximum methods for medical image fusion. Performance of fusion is calculated on the basis of PSNR, MSE and the total processing time and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of fusion scheme based on wavelet transform.

Abstract: Image inpainting is a technique to fill missing region or reconstruct damage area from an image.It
removes an undesirable object from an image in visually plausible way.For filling the part of image, it use
information from the neighboring area. In this dissertation work, we present a Examplar based method for
filling in the missing information in an image, which takes structure synthesis and texture sysnthesis together.
In exemplar based approach it used local information from an image to patch propagation.We have also
implement Nonlocal Mean approach for exemplar based image inpainting.In Nonlocal mean approach it find
multiple samples of best exemplar patches for patch propagation and weight their contribution according to
their similarity to the neighborhood under evaluation. We have further extended this algorithm by considering
collaborative filtering method to synthesize and propagate with multiple samples of best exemplar patches. We
have to preformed experiment on many images and found that our algorithm successfully inpaint the target
region.We have tested the accuracy of our algorithm by finding parameter like PSNR and compared PSNR
value for all three different approaches.

Improving the Accuracy of Object Based Supervised Image Classification using ...CSCJournals
A lot of research has been undertaken and is being carried out for developing an accurate classifier for extraction of objects with varying success rates. Most of the commonly used advanced classifiers are based on neural network or support vector machines, which uses radial basis functions, for defining the boundaries of the classes. The drawback of such classifiers is that the boundaries of the classes as taken according to radial basis function which are spherical while the same is not true for majority of the real data. The boundaries of the classes vary in shape, thus leading to poor accuracy. This paper deals with use of new basis functions, called cloud basis functions (CBFs) neural network which uses a different feature weighting, derived to emphasize features relevant to class discrimination, for improving classification accuracy. Multi layer feed forward and radial basis functions (RBFs) neural network are also implemented for accuracy comparison sake. It is found that the CBFs NN has demonstrated superior performance compared to other activation functions and it gives approximately 3% more accuracy.

Improving the Accuracy of Object Based Supervised Image Classification using ...CSCJournals
A lot of research has been undertaken and is being carried out for developing an accurate classifier for extraction of objects with varying success rates. Most of the commonly used advanced classifiers are based on neural network or support vector machines, which uses radial basis functions, for defining the boundaries of the classes. The drawback of such classifiers is that the boundaries of the classes as taken according to radial basis function which are spherical while the same is not true for majority of the real data. The boundaries of the classes vary in shape, thus leading to poor accuracy. This paper deals with use of new basis functions, called cloud basis functions (CBFs) neural network which uses a different feature weighting, derived to emphasize features relevant to class discrimination, for improving classification accuracy. Multi layer feed forward and radial basis functions (RBFs) neural network are also implemented for accuracy comparison sake. It is found that the CBFs NN has demonstrated superior performance compared to other activation functions and it gives approximately 3% more accuracy.

criteria depending upon comparing the mean values of both the regions to be merged. So, the similar
regions are then merged and the dissimilar regions are merged together.

Here extraction is done with dimensions comparable to the speckle size are to be extracted. The algorithm provides a less medical metrics awareness in a minimum user interaction environment. The shape and size of the growing regions depend on look up table entries.

Image Enhancement using Guided Filter for under Exposed ImagesDr. Amarjeet Singh
Image enhancement becomes an important step to
improve the quality of image and change in the appearance of
the image in such a way that either a human or a machine can
fetch certain information from the image after a change. Due
to low contrast images it becomes very difficult to get any
information out of it. In today’s digital world of imaging
image enhancement is a very useful in various applications
ranging from electronics printing to recognition. For highly
underexposed region, intensity bin are present in darken
region that’s by such images lacks in saturation and suffers
from low intensity. Power law transformation provides
solution to this problem. It enhances the brightness so as
image at least becomes visible. To modify the intensity level
histogram equalization can be used. In this we can apply
cumulative density function and probabilistic density function
so as to divide the image into sub images.
In proposed approach to provide betterment in
results guided filter has been applied to images after
equalization so that we can get better Entropy rate and
Coefficient of correlation can be improved with previously
available techniques. The guided filter is derived from local
linear model. The guided filter computes the filtering output
by considering the content of guidance image, which can be
the image itself or other targeted image.

An Automatic Color Feature Vector Classification Based on Clustering MethodRSIS International
In computer vision application, visual features such as
shape, color and texture are extracted to characterize images.
Each of the features is represented using one or more feature
descriptors. One of the important requirements in image
retrieval, indexing, classification, clustering, etc. is extracting
efficient features from images. The color feature is one of the
most widely used visual features. Use of color histogram is the
most common way for representing color feature. One of
disadvantage of the color histogram is that it does not take the
color spatial distribution into consideration. In this paper an
automatic color feature vector classification based on clustering
approach is presented, which effectively describes the spatial
information of color features. The image retrieval results are
compare to improved color feature vector show the acceptable
efficiency of this approach. It propose an automatic color feature
vector classification of satellite images using clustering approach.
The intention is to study cluster a set of satellite images in several
categories on the color similarity basis. The images are processed
using LAB color space in the feature extraction stage. The
resulted color-based feature vectors are clustered using an
automatic unsupervised classification algorithm. Some
experiments based on the proposed recognition technique have
also been performed. More research, however, is needed to
identify and reduce uncertainties in the image processing chain
to improve classification accuracy. The mathematical training
and prediction analysis of a general familiarity with satellite
classifications meet typical map accuracy standards.
ADOPTING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SELF ORGANIZING FEATURE MAP FOR IMAGE FUSIONijistjournal
A different image fusion algorithm based on self organizing feature map is proposed in this paper, aiming to produce quality images. Image Fusion is to integrate complementary and redundant information from multiple images of the same scene to create a single composite image that contains all the important features of the original images. The resulting fused image will thus be more suitable for human and machine perception or for further image processing tasks. The existing fusion techniques based on either direct operation on pixels or segments fail to produce fused images of the required quality and are mostly application based. The existing segmentation algorithms become complicated and time consuming when multiple images are to be fused. A new method of segmenting and fusion of gray scale images adopting Self organizing Feature Maps(SOM) is proposed in this paper. The Self Organizing Feature Maps is adopted to produce multiple slices of the source and reference images based on various combination of gray scale and can dynamically fused depending on the application. The proposed technique is adopted and analyzed for fusion of multiple images. The technique is robust in the sense that there will be no loss in information due to the property of Self Organizing Feature Maps; noise removal in the source images done during processing stage and fusion of multiple images is dynamically done to get the desired results. Experimental results demonstrate that, for the quality multifocus image fusion, the proposed method performs better than some popular image fusion methods in both subjective and objective qualities.

MODELING AND ANALYSIS OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS AND WHITE LATER THICKNESS IN WIRE-...IAEME Publication
White layer thickness (WLT) formed and surface roughness in wire electric discharge turning (WEDT) of tungsten carbide composite has been made to model through response surface methodology (RSM). A Taguchi’s standard Design of experiments involving five input variables with three levels has been employed to establish a mathematical model between input parameters and responses. Percentage of cobalt content, spindle speed, Pulse on-time, wire feed and pulse off-time were changed during the experimental tests based on the Taguchi’s orthogonal array L27 (3^13). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that the mathematical models obtained can adequately describe performance within the parameters of the factors considered. There was a good agreement between the experimental and predicted values in this study.

Data were collected through a structured questionnaire containing a five point Likert Scale. The study examined the data of 30 transgender entrepreneurs in Salem Municipal Corporation of Tamil Nadu State, India. Simple Random sampling technique was used. Garrett Ranking Technique (Percentile Position, Mean Scores) was used as the analysis for the present study to identify the top 13 stimulus factors for establishment of trans entrepreneurial venture. Economic advancement of a nation is governed upon the upshot of a resolute entrepreneurial doings. The conception of entrepreneurship has stretched and materialized to the socially deflated uncharted sections of transgender community. Presently transgenders have smashed their stereotypes and are making recent headlines of achievements in various fields of our Indian society. The trans-community is gradually being observed in a new light and has been trying to achieve prospective growth in entrepreneurship. The findings of the research revealed that the optimistic changes are taking place to change affirmative societal outlook of the transgender for entrepreneurial ventureship. VOICE BASED ATM FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED USING ARDUINOIAEME Publication
The prototype of a voice-based ATM for visually impaired using Arduino is to help people who are blind. This uses RFID cards which contain users fingerprint encrypted on it and interacts with the users through voice commands. ATM operates when sensor detects the presence of one person in the cabin. After scanning the RFID card, it will ask to select the mode like –normal or blind. User can select the respective mode through voice input, if blind mode is selected the balance check or cash withdraw can be done through voice input. Normal mode procedure is same as the existing ATM.

The growing complexity of the business world requires a great deal of self-confidence, integrity, communication, conflict and diversity management to keep the global enterprise within the paths of productivity and sustainability. Using the exploratory research design and 255 participants the result of this original study indicates strong positive correlation between emotional intelligence and effective human resource management. The paper offers suggestions on further studies between emotional intelligence and human capital development and recommends for conflict management as an integral part of effective human resource management.

The main objective of this study is to analyze the impact of aspects of Organizational Culture on the Effectiveness of the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Health Care Organization at Thanjavur. Organizational Culture and PMS play a crucial role in present-day organizations in achieving their objectives. PMS needs employees’ cooperation to achieve its intended objectives. Employees' cooperation depends upon the organization’s culture. The present study uses exploratory research to examine the relationship between the Organization's culture and the Effectiveness of the Performance Management System. The study uses a Structured Questionnaire to collect the primary data. For this study, Thirty-six non-clinical employees were selected from twelve randomly selected Health Care organizations at Thanjavur. Thirty-two fully completed questionnaires were received.

The goal of this study was to see how talent management affected employee retention in the selected IT organizations in Chennai. The fundamental issue was the difficulty to attract, hire, and retain talented personnel who perform well and the gap between supply and demand of talent acquisition and retaining them within the firms. The study's main goals were to determine the impact of talent management on employee retention in IT companies in Chennai, investigate talent management strategies that IT companies could use to improve talent acquisition, performance management, career planning and formulate retention strategies that the IT firms could use. The respondents were given a structured close-ended questionnaire with the 5 Point Likert Scale as part of the study's quantitative research design. The target population consisted of 289 IT professionals. The questionnaires were distributed and collected by the researcher directly. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to collect and analyse the questionnaire responses. Hypotheses that were formulated for the various areas of the study were tested using a variety of statistical tests. The key findings of the study suggested that talent management had an impact on employee retention. The studies also found that there is a clear link between the implementation of talent management and retention measures. Management should provide enough training and development for employees, clarify job responsibilities, provide adequate remuneration packages, and recognise employees for exceptional performance.

It is costly to replace unskilled employees with IT professionals possessing technical skills and competencies that aid in interconnecting the business processes. By associating Emotional Intelligence (EI) along with Talent Management (TM) in the IT industry, the rise in attrition rate was analyzed in this study. Only 303 respondents were collected out of 350 participants to whom questionnaires were distributed. From the employees of IT organizations located in Bangalore (India), the data were congregated. A simple random sampling methodology was employed to congregate data as of the respondents. Generating the hypothesis along with testing is eventuated. The effect of EI and TM along with regression analysis between TM and EI was analyzed. The outcomes indicated that employee and Organizational Performance (OP) were elevated by effective EI along with TM.

The asset quality of banks is one of the most important indicators of their financial health. The Indian banking sector has been facing severe problems of increasing Non- Performing Assets (NPAs). The NPAs growth directly and indirectly affects the quality of assets and profitability of banks. It also shows the efficiency of banks credit risk management and the recovery effectiveness. NPA do not generate any income, whereas, the bank is required to make provisions for such as assets that why is a double edge weapon. This paper outlines the concept of quality of bank loans of different types like Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of selected public and private sector banks. This study is highlighting problems associated with the role of commercial bank in financing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME). The overall objective of the research was to assess the effect of the financing provisions existing for the setting up and operations of MSMEs in the country and to generate recommendations for more robust financing mechanisms for successful operation of the MSMEs, in turn understanding the impact of MSME loans on financial institutions due to NPA. There are many research conducted on the topic of Non- Performing Assets (NPA) Management, concerning particular bank, comparative study of public and private banks etc. In this paper the researcher is considering the aggregate data of selected public sector and private sector banks and attempts to compare the NPA of Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of public and private sector banks. The tools used in the study are average and Anova test and variance. The findings reveal that NPA is common problem for both public and private sector banks and is associated with all types of loans either that is housing loans, agriculture loans and loans to SMES. NPAs of both public and private sector banks show the increasing trend. In 2010-11 GNPA of public and private sector were at same level it was 2% but after 2010-11 it increased in many fold and at present there is GNPA in some more than 15%. It shows the dark area of Indian banking sector.

An experiment conducted in this study found that BaSO4 changed Nylon 6's mechanical properties. By changing the weight ratios, BaSO4 was used to make Nylon 6. This Researcher looked into how hard Nylon-6/BaSO4 composites are and how well they wear. Experiments were done based on Taguchi design L9. Nylon-6/BaSO4 composites can be tested for their hardness number using a Rockwell hardness testing apparatus. On Nylon/BaSO4, the wear behavior was measured by a wear monitor, pinon-disc friction by varying reinforcement, sliding speed, and sliding distance, and the microstructure of the crack surfaces was observed by SEM. This study provides significant contributions to ultimate strength by increasing BaSO4 content up to 16% in the composites, and sliding speed contributes 72.45% to the wear rate

Rural entrepreneurship is based on stimulating local entrepreneurial talent and the subsequent growth of indigenous enterprises. It recognizes opportunity in the rural areas and accelerates a unique blend of resources either inside or outside of agriculture. Rural entrepreneurship brings an economic value to the rural sector by creating new methods of production, new markets, new products and generate employment opportunities thereby ensuring continuous rural development. Social Entrepreneurship has the direct and primary objective of serving the society along with the earning profits. So, social entrepreneurship is different from the economic entrepreneurship as its basic objective is not to earn profits but for providing innovative solutions to meet the society needs which are not taken care by majority of the entrepreneurs as they are in the business for profit making as a sole objective. So, the Social Entrepreneurs have the huge growth potential particularly in the developing countries like India where we have huge societal disparities in terms of the financial positions of the population. Still 22 percent of the Indian population is below the poverty line and also there is disparity among the rural & urban population in terms of families living under BPL. 25.7 percent of the rural population & 13.7 percent of the urban population is under BPL which clearly shows the disparity of the poor people in the rural and urban areas. The need to develop social entrepreneurship in agriculture is dictated by a large number of social problems. Such problems include low living standards, unemployment, and social tension. The reasons that led to the emergence of the practice of social entrepreneurship are the above factors. The research problem lays upon disclosing the importance of role of social entrepreneurship in rural development of India. The paper the tendencies of social entrepreneurship in India, to present successful examples of such business for providing recommendations how to improve situation in rural areas in terms of social entrepreneurship development. Indian government has made some steps towards development of social enterprises, social entrepreneurship, and social in- novation, but a lot remains to be improved.
OPTIMAL RECONFIGURATION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION RADIAL NETWORK USING HYBRID MET...IAEME Publication
Distribution system is a critical link between the electric power distributor and the consumers. Most of the distribution networks commonly used by the electric utility is the radial distribution network. However in this type of network, it has technical issues such as enormous power losses which affect the quality of the supply. Nowadays, the introduction of Distributed Generation (DG) units in the system help improve and support the voltage profile of the network as well as the performance of the system components through power loss mitigation. In this study network reconfiguration was done using two meta-heuristic algorithms Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSO-GSA) to enhance power quality and voltage profile in the system when simultaneously applied with the DG units. Backward/Forward Sweep Method was used in the load flow analysis and simulated using the MATLAB program. Five cases were considered in the Reconfiguration based on the contribution of DG units. The proposed method was tested using IEEE 33 bus system. Based on the results, there was a voltage profile improvement in the system from 0.9038 p.u. to 0.9594 p.u.. The integration of DG in the network also reduced power losses from 210.98 kW to 69.3963 kW. Simulated results are drawn to show the performance of each case.

This paper will help to understand significance of frugal approach for productivity improvement in manufacturing industry. In this paper, we investigated a queuing model of fuzzy environment-based a multiple channel queuing model (M/M/C) ( /FCFS) and study its performance under realistic conditions. It applies a nonagonal fuzzy number to analyse the relevant performance of a multiple channel queuing model (M/M/C) ( /FCFS). Based on the sub interval average ranking method for nonagonal fuzzy number, we convert fuzzy number to crisp one. Numerical results reveal that the efficiency of this method. Intuitively, the fuzzy environment adapts well to a multiple channel queuing models (M/M/C) ( /FCFS) are very well.

1. INTRODUCTION
Images is one of the most important medium for conveying information, the process of
extracting meaningful information from images is known as image segmentation. Image
segmentation is the process where digital images are partitioned into multiple smaller
segments that contain meaningful information while having similar features and properties.
The goal of performing image segmentation is to simplify and change the representation of an
image into more meaningful and earlier to analyze. Representation of an image into a form
that is more meaningful and easier to analyze. Image segmentation algorithms play an
important role in applications such as medical imaging, bio-metric recognition, object
detection, target tracking etc.
For many years, images that were segmented were usually in gray-scale due to the fact
that computers were not powerful enough to display and manipulate large, full-color data sets.
With the advent of more powerful and easily accessible hardware came a shift in the current
of research towards the more widely applicable and more complex problem of color
segmentation. Color images generally convey more information as opposed to gray-scale
images which allow one to obtain more meaningful and robust segmentation.
Misclassification problems, may arise when segmenting gray-scale images can be easily
avoided by resorting to color information.
Also the success of image analysis depends on reliability of segmentation, but an accurate
partitioning of an image is generally very challenging and can see that in next topic. All types
of uploaded data should undergo three phases while proceeding digital techniques are

1.1. Image Segmentation
The reason for image segmentation is to segment a image into meaningful regions as for a
specific application. The segmentation depends on estimations taken from the image and may
be gray level, colour, texture, depth or motion.. The Image segmentation is partitioning an
image into unmistakable areas containing every pixel with similar attributes. It tends to be
finished utilizing thresholding, color space segmentation, k-means clustering.

segmentation is the first step from low-level image processing transforming a grayscale or
colour image into one or more other images to high-level image description in terms of
features, objects, and scenes. The accomplishment of image analysis depends on reliability of
segmentation, but an accurate partitioning of an image is generally a very challenging
problem.
Segmentation procedures are either contextual or non-contextual. The latter take no
account of spatial connections between features in an image and group pixels together on the
basis of some global attribute, e.g. gray level or colour. Contextual techniques additionally
exploit these relationships, e.g. group together pixels with similar gray levels and close spatial
areas.
1.2. Colour Image Segmentation
Colour image segmentation is gathering the recommended pieces of the image and using it
according to the application and each pixel within the image is signifies the color at a single
point in the image. In order to achieve certain data from an image, for example, a certain
colour, the image processing techniques of colour image segmentation can be used to carry
out such a task.

1.3. Segmentation Based on Clustering
There is no general theory of image segmentation. However, with the introduction of many
new theories and methods of various disciplines, there have been many image segmentation
techniques combined with some specific theories and methods. The so-called class refers to
the collection of similar fundamentals. Clustering is in accordance with certain requirements
and laws of the classification of things in the process. The feature space clustering method is
used to segment the pixels in the image space with the corresponding feature space points.
According to their aggregation in the feature space, the feature space is segmented, and then
they are mapped back to the original image space to get the segmentation result. K-means is
one of the most commonly used clustering algorithm. The basic idea of k-means is to gather
the samples into different clusters according to the distance. The closer the two points are, the
closer they are to get the compact and independent clusters as grouping targets.

1.4. Filtering Techniques
Noise filtration technique is the process of removing the unwanted noise from the image. Two
types of filtering techniques are Linear Filtering and Non-linear Filtering. Image de-noising
performed on different noises by using linear and non linear filtering techniques like Mean
filter, Median filter and Wiener filter.

2. LITERATURE REVIEW
Sharada Mani proposed a method that utilizes simple Circular Shifting for manipulating the
whole image at a time rather than template based (Sharada Mani, 2010). As pre-processing
step, real complement of each channel was taken and the circular shift operations were
applied in all directions in order to determine the edge pixels on the resultant image. This
process was considered to be attractive in a computational perspective since the underlying
operations at edge point effectively reduce to shift and subtraction. Advantages: Performance
of the proposed method is satisfactory in almost all cases and runs in polynomial time.
Genyun Sun presents an edge detection algorithm based on calculations of the difference
in values of 2 clusters (Sun, 2011). For every pixel, a window is first defined by placing the
pixel at the center. This window is partitioned into 2 sub-regions respectively in 4 different
directions. An appropriate function is then chosen to estimate the difference between each
pair of 2 adjacent regions and also to calculate edge information in terms of edge strength and
direction by maximizing the difference value. Finally, the non-maxima suppression is adopted
to derive the output edge map. Advantages: More robust under noisy conditions. It is
consistent and reliable even when image quality is significantly degraded by noise.
Rafika Harrabi proposed a technique that combines many realizations of the same image
(Rafika Harrabi, 2012). First, most significant peaks of the histogram is determined by
utilizing an optimal multi-level thresholding technique based on the 2-stage Otsu optimization
approach. Then, the evidence theory is employed to merge multiple images represented in
different color spaces. This was done in order to obtain a final reliable and accurate result.
The notion of mass functions, in the Dempster-Shafer (DS) evidence theory, is linked to the
Gaussian distribution, and the final segmentation is achieved. On the input image, it is
expressed in different color spaces, by using DS combination rule and decision. Advantages:
High segmentation sensitivity.
Wu Kaihua and Ban Tao have proposed an optimal threshold segmentation method that is
based on the entropy criteria and Genetic algorithm in order to improve the image acquisition
process in computer vision. The factors that were taken into account were illumination, light,
reflection of light, CCD exposure time and some properties of image histogram. Advantages:
Efficient in searching and finding threshold.
Ghassan Hamarneh proposed a novel method for enhancing watershed segmentation by
using prior shape and appearance knowledge (Ghassan Hamarneh, 2009). The method
iteratively aligns a shape histogram with the result of an improved k-means clustering
algorithm of the watershed segments. The method comprises a training stage and a
segmentation stage. In the training stage, a „shape histogram‟ and image intensity statistics are
used to model prior shape and appearance knowledge, respectively. The segmentation stage is
an automatic iterative procedure and consists of 4 steps: Classical Watershed Transformation,
Improved k-Means Clustering, Shape Alignment, and Refinement.

Biplab Banerjee proposed a method for image segmentation that involves the use of
Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) (Biplab Banerjee, 2010). First, MST is performed based on
the “natural grouping” of the image pixels to determine the clusters of the pixels that have
TGB values within a certain range present in the image. Then, the pixels closest to the centers
of those clusters are identified and labeled as the seeds for region growing based
segmentation. After that, a region merging based segmentation having a suitable threshold is
carried out to remove the effect of over-segmentation that remains after the previous method.
Advantages: Eliminate the effect of over segmentation that may persists after region growing
method.
Y. Deng developed the J-Segmentation (JSEG) algorithm that integrates color
quantization and spatial segmentation for extraction of color-texture regions in images and
video (Y. Deng, 2001). While the JSEG method was capable in deriving spatially compact
regions, the JSEG method commences in a color quantization step utilized to obtain a “color
class map” which is subsequently employed to compute a J-image based on certain spatial
constraints. These spatial constraints were designed such that the resultant boundaries and low
values for homogenous color-texture regions. Subsequently, the J-image is utilized as a
reference to identify suitable seed points to initiate a region growing process, wherein the
obtained regions are eventually refined in a merging process using a color similarity criterion.
Mathur and Purohit Digital image can be considered as a large array of discrete dots called
picture elements or pixels, each of which has a brightness associated with it where each pixel
of the digital image signifies the color at a single point in the image, for the coloured image or
the gray level or monochrome image.
Sharma, Mishra and Shrivastava Through these color representation, higher level
processes beyond the human visual system can be achieved where the colour is better
represented by hue, saturation and intensity.
In colour image segmentation, algorithms such as the k-means clustering, thresholding
and colour space segmentation. In the k-means clustering. These region based techniques are
based on common patterns in the colour intensity values within a group of neighboring pixels
where the goal of this kind of segmentation algorithm is to identify and group the regions
according to their similarities according to their hue, saturation and intensity.
3. OBJECTIVES
K-Means is an algorithm that quickly group pixels on the basis of predefined feature vectors
and initial centroids. The consideration of color components alone as feature space dimension
is not enough to validate the results for clustering and hence an improvement by means of
parameterization, feature space extension with texture or gradient is necessary. So that
watershed segmentation is combined with k means algorithm with noise filtration technique.

4. PROPOSED METHODOLOGY
4.1. Hybrid K Means with Watershed Algorithm
1. Place K points into the space represented by the objects that are being clustered. These
points represent initial group centroids.
2. Assign each object to the group that has the closest centroid.

3. When all objects have been assigned, recalculate the positions of the K centroids.
4. Repeat Steps two and three until the centroids no longer move. This produces a
separation of the objects into groups from which the metric to be minimized can be
calculated.
5. Compute a segmentation function. This is an image whose dark regions are the objects
you are trying to segment.
6. Compute foreground markers. These are connected blobs of pixels within each of the
objects.
7. Compute background markers. These are pixels that are not part of any objects. Also
modify the segmentation function so that, it has only minima at the foreground and
background marker locations.
8. Compute the watershed transform of the modified segmentation function.

5. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Discussed about image quality measurement and watershed segmentation is combined with k
means algorithm to be used for research. The quality measures are Peak-Signal Noise Ratio
(PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE). The performance analysis of this methods give the image
quality values and compare the types of rules, finally using filter technique is better result for
k-means with watershed algorithm.

6. CONCLUSIONS
Clustering is the unsupervised classification of observations, data points or feature vectors
into groups. The clustering problem has been discussed in many contexts and by the
investigators in many disciplines this shows its widespread interest and usefulness as one of
the steps in exploratory data analysis. The k-means algorithm is one of the most popular
clustering techniques because of its speed and simplicity. The initial step of this method is
determining k initial cluster centers. The way the set of initial cluster centers are selected have
a strong effect on speed and quality of results. In this thesis, an efficient technique that is
performing well (in most of the cases) in terms of run-time than k-means is proposed. The
analysis of quality measurement is PSNR and MSE. In the proposed system is describes the
quality measurement comparing without filter technique using filter technique is better result
for k-means with watershed algorithm. In the filtering techniques, the median filter is more
accurate than the wiener filter.
