2. Introducing with fabric
The color changing comes from thermochromics pigments
that gradually change color in response to temperature.
Using conductive threads, sending electricity through the
conductive threads generates some electrical resistance,
which generates heat, which makes the color change.
The conductive threads can be connected up to a battery or
even a small computer like Arduino to make the color
change.
3. Use of color changing fabric

4. Ways to implement the color
changing process

5. Smartphone-Controlled Color
Changing Fabric
A team of researchers from
the University of Central
Florida have developed a
fabric which can change color
and be controlled via a
smartphone.
6. ChroMorphous Technology
According to scientists from the College of Optics &
Photonics at the University of Central Florida press
release, each thread woven into the fabric incorporates
within it a thin metal micro-wire. An electric current
flows through the micro-wires, thus slightly raising the
thread’s temperature. Special pigments embedded in the
thread then respond to this modification of temperature
by changing its color.
7. Conclusion
Environmentalists and the fashion industry alike are
extremely excited about color changing fabrics and the
implications that color changing fabrics have
toward the future of fashion. While most of these
technologies are in the beginning stages, there are at
least two products out there that have patents and are
working toward becoming producible products in the
very near future.
