Racism Has Gone Back Underground By Richard Pryor
There s a lot more hypocrisy than before. Racism has gone back underground. Richard Pryor.
This quote is a GREAT example of the current disadvantages black families are facing today and
have been facing for a lifetime. In the 1910 blatant racism to an individual s face was something to
chide someone about, but the racismhidden in our social structures have remained and is continuing
to thrive. Structural racism in the U.S is defined as the normalization and legitimization of an array
of dynamics that routinely advantages whites while producing cumulative and chronic adverse
outcomes for people of color (Lawrence, Keleher). It is found in institutions such as, education,
politics, and economics. As a mixed status family the individuals in my family have faced many
disadvantages and some advantages at the hands of structural racism. It affected our access to
Housing, the labor market, healthcare, and education. I asked four of my family members about
their personal experience with structural racism and I will also include my experience in this paper.
To begin, housing discrimination is discrimination based on protected class status, race, ethnicity
and so much more in the realm of housing and real estate. It can lead to racial segregation and
housing inequality. It began to occur in the United States after the abolition of slavery as part of
federal law. In 1934 the Federal Housing Administration, also known as FHA was introduced and
was possibly the most heinous of all

Code Division Multiple Access
INTRODUCTION:
Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a technology which is used for radio communication
purpose. Multiple access technique is a broad area for communication purpose , CDMA is an
example of multiple access technology, through which several number of transmitter can send
information in a single communication channel. In case of CDMA a particular bandwidth can shared
between several number of users. To permit this technique to achieve without undue interference
between users, spread spectrum technology and a special coding scheme are used by CDMA. In
modern era every people want to use things which is smaller in size, can have more functionality
and cost. This can only possible if we can integrate more and more functionality into a single chip
which helps achieve our objective and demand. To achieve this human wanting the scientists have
developed a new concept that is nanotechnology. Nano implies 10^( 9) which is very small . After
nano scale development, the scientists of the semiconductor had faced many challenges. The
greater challenge was how to combine the Intellectual properties(IP) from various sources quickly
and efficiently. These have been overcome by introducing system on chip technology which is
very grooming topic in modern technology. System on chip mostly called as SOC is a best solution
of combining a number on functionality into a single chip. System on chip is called as bus

The Value of Taking Risks and Making Mistakes
A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in
doing nothing, wrote George Bernard Shaw. This is true, one can not truly live life to the fullest
and experience all of the things that make life beautiful if they are not willing to put themselves out
there and risk being cut open.
Mistakes are simply learning tools, a means of giving us higher aspirations. They are
underappreciated and should be embraced rather than shunned. Without mistakes, life would be
boring, then where would we be?
As small children we are naturally very accident prone creatures. Everything is new and shiny and
somehow we are attracted to all of the things that are potentially harmful. Our minds are designed
to want what we shouldn t and to not do as we are told. From a psychological standpoint, the
blisters that form on the burned toddler s hand are a negative reinforcement. Once the child has
experienced the pain firsthand, it will associate the heat of the stovetop or the oven with pain. After
the association has been made, the child will not want to make that particular mistake again. That s
all psychobabble though. With every scrape, burn, and scar, one s childhood becomes a long
string of memories and stories that are bound to be retold as a learning tool for the next generation
or just to look back on and be able laugh at the naivety that the most important

Curious Travels Of A Language Geek
I attended Culture Thursday where Michael Bach was presenting Curious Travels of a Language
Geek (Bach, 2014) via video lecture from Kodiak Island, Alaska. Michael discussed the Alutiiq
language and culture that the Kodiak Island and the southern part of Alaska once flourished
with. Michael is a fluent speaker of Alutiiq and is on a crusade to revitalize the Alutiiq language
and culture in Alaska. He is a Staples native and through his study abroad, travels, and time in
the Air force he developed a love of language learning. Alaska is a diverse culture including 11
different Alaskan native cultures. Of these 11 cultures, there are 22 languages or dialects spoken.
In Kodiak Alaska, water gives life to the people and land. The Alutiiq people are Native Alaskan
in decent and are closely related to the Navaho. Through the colonization, the Alutiiq s culture
changed first by the Russians and then the Americans. Even though Alaska is an American state
Russian culture and heritage is influenced in the buildings, food, and even language still today.
Alutiiq were and still are fisherman and hunted not only fish like halibut and cod but also seals
and sea lions. Alutiiq hungers would wear wooden visors made of sea lion whiskers. The more
whiskers on the visor, the more pride in the number of kills they acquired. Typical dress for the
Alutiiq people was skins with natural dyes. They were adorned with feathers, puffin beaks, ivory,

Abstract
Dark Matter, one of the mysteries of Science that has us puzzled even after nearly 70 years of it s
initial prediction. Why? Has it got us on the edge of our seats so often. The answer lies in the
sheer magnitude of the Dark Matter all around us. If certain predictions are true, then even right
now as I write this , and when you read, billions of Neutrinos (hypothesized Dark Matter particle)
are passing through us , without us even feeling them. Various astronomical techniques such as
Gravitational Lensing, and Galaxy Rotation Curves have revealed that the mass of the celestial
clusters such galaxies andd galaxy clusters is majorly composed of something other than what we
observe from our conventional observation techniques. That is to say all the planets, stars and gas
we observe in a particular galaxy, contribute to a mere 4.6% of the total mass of the universe.
It s simple mass predictions of the

The Battle Of War, And The City Of Parsis And Port City
Finding this information troubling since he had hoped to have more time to prepare before the
conflict would begin and immediately asked the next question directed at Balthazar. If Tresval and
Holdrum were to consider going to war, which nations would consider joining them?
Balthazar took another sip of Kabus and paused for a moment to organize his thoughts before
beginning as to how the alignments would go. Parsis is a heavily fortified nation, but rather weak
offensively. Cormyth, the capital city of Parsis and portcity located on the Iron Sea, is the largest
city in the realm, the second largest city in the world, heavily populated with fortified walls

Her only city on the continent, the port city of Coreinum, heavily populated and well fortified
against attack. The rest of the continent is uninhabited, ravished by nature, split between desert
and jungle. They most likely will align with Holdrum and Parsis since they are close neighbors.
Jenta has a superior navy and basically would control the seas. The wild cards in this war would
be the Elves and the Dwarves, though I do not see that either party would become involved.
As for you, Lord Nightburn, I see you aligning yourself with Holdrum and Parsis. If Parsis
considers you an ally, it should make it easier for your spy to retrieve the amulet, and with the
defeat of Tresval, you would be able to retrieve the tome you have long sought. That is how I see
it. Balthazar grabbed his glass and took a long sip of Kabus to wet his parched throat after such a
long soliloquy.
Well thought out, Balthazar. I have to agree that it would be the most beneficial to both parties.
Nightburn decided to keep the possibility of an agreement with the goblin General Zhousbek to
himself because if successful, it would definitely turn the tide in favor of Holdrum and Parsis and
make retrieval of the tome a certainty. Nightburn then turned to Sir Faine who had come to the table
late in the conversation.
Sir Faine. What have you been doing with your time?

Great Gatsby Scarlet Letter Essay
Jason Bello
AP English
March 22, 2000
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald are two
novels, which address similar themes with completely opposite resolves. The authors use their main
characters, Hester, Dimmesdale, Gatsby, and Daisy, in their respective works to present these
themes. The action in both novels revolves around unfaithfulness, its effects on the characters, and
the results of committing adultery, which prove to be antipode from one novel to the other. These
antitheses can be found by a look at the different roles of adultery in the novels. One major theme
found in both novels and addressed in different ways is adultery. Unfaithfulness is ever present in

Hester and Dimmesdale sinned by having sex, Hester was married and Dimmesdale was a
reverend. This act of impurity was turned to a positive with the birth of Pearl, their personal
spiritual growth, and their maturity. On the contrary, the lovethat Daisy and Gatsby had before
their separation was pure. They were in love for all the right reasons, and stayed in touch while Jay
entered the army. However, Daisy then fell in love with money and the man who brought it, Tom.
When Gatsby returned, he tried to make their love work again, but his efforts were made through
deceit, and illegal activities. These attempts to win Daisy through a false persona and money made
Daisy s love a possession, which could be won or even bought, and subsequently it became impure.
These contradictions and paradox continue through the novel into the endings.
The differing attitudes towards unfaithfulness in the novels result in differing conclusions for the
characters. Although Hester and Dimmesdale do not consummate their relationship, their
tribulations are not for naught. Both become better, more understanding, people because of their
experiences. There is also the birth of Pearl to validate their affair. Daisy and Gatsby never end up
together either. However, neither one is the better as a result of them having eloped. Gatsby dies a
horrible death, but this is still

Good or Bad Customer Service Essay
A large part of being a good service provider is ensuring customer convenience.
Study findings show that strong leadership systems focus on customers, motivate employees, and
implement their customer service vision. They also focus great attention on gathering the
information needed to track customer satisfaction, and employees overall performance. Customer
service should be designed and delivered seamlessly from the customer s point of view. Customer
driven operations lead to success. Decentralized, uncoordinated customer service provision makes
for a most frustrating experience for customers.

I took my family to our local McDonalds for lunch a week ago (after 1 pm) and waited in line for
over 25 minutes with only 4 other customers in line before us. Of the two cash registers
originally open, one lady (unable to read name covered by apron) left without informing the
people in line directly in front of her that she was closing. The assistant manager (I assume since
he had no name tag but was wearing a striped shirt (everyone else was wearing green shirts)) was
called to the front 4 times to correct erroneous orders, and finally opened another register.
Unfortunately, he waited on us. We ordered salad shakers that ended up being (at best) warm.
He needed to return to the register for each item, and even then had the order messed up. He
literally threw my children s orders of French fries on the tray as well as their burgers. While we
were waiting, I watched one rather slovenly worker (with a large grease stain and cheese on his
BACK) throw a quot;to go quot; bag and complain to the people in the back about being busy.
There appeared to be more than enough people working, but planning and management were
severely lacking.
I recently visited another McDonalds in my area with my kids and my little cousin, then I have
another disappointment. I ordered the kid meal for him; it came with a toy and a drink with the
meal. I asked for milk, which to me is more nutritious than soda. Soda does have gobs of sugar in
them, which is not healthy for any human young or

A Physician Hospital Organization ( Pho )
A physician hospital organization (PHO) consists of 15 hospitals with 2,247 staffed beds and
approximately 500 physicians. The PHO operates in a very large section of south Georgia,
including the cities of Valdosta, Tifton, Thomasville, Moultrie, and Waycross. The PHOs physician
members represent approximately 90 percent of all physicians practicing in the region.
The PHO served as a vehicle through which competing hospitals and physicians could bargain
collectively with health plans to obtain higher fees for themselves. The owner PHOs, member
hospitals, and member physicians canceled contracts with payors and informed them that the PHO
would be the sole entity through which they would enter into payor contracts. To contract with the
PHO, payors allegedly have had to accept the fixed physician fee schedule and fixed discount of no
more than 10 percent off hospital list prices.
1.Explain why this arrangement would be found per se illegal under the FTCs analysis.
2.What kind of actions could be taken to restructure this arrangement to avoid a determination that
it is per se illegal?

to be per se illegal.

Analysis Of The Poem Aimee
Something cold dripped onto her forehead. Without opening her eyes, she could tell she was
somewhere different. The smell of dirt and grass filled her nostrils, and a cool breeze brushed
her hair off of her cheeks. More freezing liquid dripped onto her face, and her eyes flew open.
She blinked, confused. Branches of a huge oak tree stretched out above her, crisp green leaves
contrasting an overcast sky. As she sat up, she found that it wasn t just overcast, it was foggy.
Though it was bright, she could only see about 15 feet it either direction. More water dripped
down from the immense oak. Aimee. There was a sense of calm over the whole area as she
pushed herself into a sitting position on the damp grass. A young woman stood over her, black
hair spilling out from a ponytail at the back of her head, bangs in her face and wire rimmed
glasses perched on her nose. Her plain black t shirt and dark jeans were clean but worn, as if she
d had them for a long time. Something blue stained the knee of the denim fabric. The girl was
lean framed and thin, her olive toned skin pale. The worn black Chuck Taylors were clean as
well, though the soles were peeling away and the white had turned to grey and brown in places.
Her eyes were a striking blue. Who was she? The girl gave her a slightly concerned look, then
bend down next to her. Aimee? Aimee Glass? Aimee opened her mouth to respond, but closed it

Lessons Learned In Non-Camp Counseling
Over the summer I spent the entire month of July as a leader in training at a Girl Guide camp. I
learned many essential skills for being an effective camp counselor, but not all of those skills
were applicable in non camp life. Yet there was one lesson I learned that has stuck with me; and
I try to keep it in mind everyday. Everyday at camp we did a variety of sessions where we would
do an activity that would teach us a lesson about leadership in an enjoyable and engaging way.
The activity I remember the most is an activity we did on one of the very first days. We had been
told to wear running shoes that morning, and after breakfast we trekked through the forest and
arrived in a clearing with many different low ropes courses. All of... Show more content on

Today s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
Executive Summary
CIA Central Intelligence Agency
Today s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is centered on the same basic principles as the Office
of Strategic Services (OSS) in the 1940 s but with some significant changes, specifically in its
organization and methods. The OSS, the world s first global intelligence organization, was
organized and overseen by Wild Bill Donovan and expanded at an unprecedented pace throughout
World War II. The OSS was the foundation for today s CIA. It was because of the successes and
failures of the OSS that the CIA has been able to grow and develop.
As is made clear by the detailed descriptions of Bill Donovan s routine and procedures in the
biography Wild Bill Donovan by Douglas Waller, the leadership and management of the CIA today
is drastically different from the original OSS. Donovan was appointed by FDR, in the same way
the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency is today. Yet Donovan s duties were extremely vague
and up to interpretation, including performing unspecified supplementary activities for the
president. While the overall mission of the CIA today is open ended which means it needs only the
approval of the National Security Council to embark on new, possibly unprecedented missions, the

German Stereotypes In WWII Films
German Stereotypes carried on by WWII films Cold, Nazi, heavy accent. Those are some of the
common stereotypes of German in typical everyday life. These stereotypes are not the truth about
Germans and Germany as all other stereotypes aren t the truth or the only truth. The strangest thing
about the typical German stereotypesis that all of the common ones can be traced to WWI, WWII
or are revivals of actions of those times through war films or stories. The definition of a stereotype
from Google is: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of
person or thing (Definition). This definition makes it very simple for us to see how stereotypes can

This is also due with most movies in that they often play along with a trope or stereotype to try a
compact or make a character more relatable or identifiable. War films since they became pretty
popular in world war times, due to the necessary need to get people in support the war and
supports the troops so most use the common stereotypes and I would also argue made them more
popular. When you have a formula you can follow in a script which will lead to your audience
being able to easily identify the bad guy, it makes it easier for a film to be successful. So for
example in the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark film you have the typical German
stereotype with the Nazi team searching for the Ark of the Covenant to make Hitler s army
invincible. That idea of cold heartless team of people only working towards helping Hitler and
the war is something that many people of the time wouldn t have a hard time identifying as bad.

Lourdes Medrano Immigration Reform Analysis
1.Lourdes Medrano is a strong advocate for immigration reform to strengthen the border and the
security manning the border. She supports her argument by showing how President George W.

while leading the technological advance on the border. Medrano shows how President Bush brought
immigrationreform into the spotlight, when roughly 1.6 million immigrants where entering the
US illegally. Now the number is historically lower at 356,873 immigrants. The budget for the
border patrol has been steadily increasing 1.1 billion in 2001 to 3.5 billion in 2012. Medrano
presents how President Bush signed the Secure Fence Act in 2006, which authorized 700 miles of
fencing. This his directly contributed to 651 miles of fencing created by 2012. Surge on
immigration reform has also doubled the man power from 2001 to 2012, which is exactly what
President Bush envisioned. With the border patrol now being a division of Homeland Security and

interactions with disease, war, and varying levels of technology, which influences the amount of
deathindividuals encounter throughout their lives. This intersectionality of causal factors,
symbolism, and interpretation of the human condition, is continually illustrated through different
cultural means, especially art and dГ©cor and holidays. In the post war to contemporary period,
Death has been largely removed from Western cultures, particularly North America and Europe, as
technological advancements, and the sanitization of the public gaze have occurred. However, an
indirect relationship to death still persists through cultural interactions with Halloween. Analysis of
the spaces in which death is opening described, visualized, and indirectly interacted, need to occur
to create a larger understanding the roots of western cultural practices, and to understand the
problematic aspects of the spectacle of death through commodification.
Within the historical trajectory of Halloween the connections to death and human mortality are
abundantly apparent. Though there are many examples of cultural practices or holidays that
celebrate or commemorate death globally, the origins of Halloween can be directly

Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Immunizations
Compulsory immunizations for public school enrollment are necessary to prevent highly
communicable childhood diseases. This has been much debated since the early 1900 s and has
recently made a resurgence through the anti vaccine movement. The case in 1905, Jacobson v.
Massachusetts, Jacobson argues that a person s liberties are infringed upon by requiring mandatory
immunizations (Mariner, Annas, Glantz, 2005). The court s decision to allow the state to impose
mandatory small pox immunizations was based on the justification that it was for the safety of the
general public (Mariner, Annas, Glantz, 2005).
In ignoring the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) there has been
increase in outbreaks, which can be linked to vaccine refusal (Phadke, Bednarczyk, Salmon, Omer,
2016). In Table 1. of the article Association Between Vaccine Refusal and Vaccine Preventable
Disease in the United States, it clearly demonstrates that more cases of measles were found with
those who were unvaccinated against measles. From 2000 to 2015 there were a reported 1416

How Did The Intolerable Acts Cause The American Revolution
The Intolerable Acts, without a doubt, caused the most unrest in the colonies, therefore provoking
the start of the American Revolution. In 1774, Parliament passed the Coercive Acts in reaction to
the Boston Tea Party, where the Sons of Liberty dressed as Native Americans and smashed 340
chests of tea and dumped it all into the Boston Harbor. The Coercive Acts were called the
Intolerable Acts by the colonists because they felt that they could not tolerate these new laws.
Firstly, the British suspended all Massachusetts town meetings and the Massachusetts legislature,
basically putting the colony under military rule. This angered the colonists because they didn t even
have the right to present their ideas to others anymore. Because of their reactions, the Intolerable
Acts were the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The colonists were furious at this because they could no longer receive imports from Britain and
other countries they may have been trading with at this time. The Intolerable Acts not only took the
colonists rights, but their imports, too. Plus, the Boston Harbor was one of the busiest and
wealthiest ports in the colonies, so hundreds lost their jobs upon its closure. This helped spark the
American Revolution because colonists begin an all out rebellion against the inconsiderate British
king and his laws that were imposed upon them with neither their consent nor opinion. Lastly, a
British official who committed a crime in the American colonies could hold their trial in Britain in
front of a more lenient judge and jury, as stated in the Coercive Acts. The colonists found this
unjust because if the unwelcomed interlopers could hold more merciful trials, then why couldn t
they? They were the actual residents of the colonies, so they should have as many rights as those
who disrupt their daily life, shouldn t they? If a colonist committed a crime, then they d have to

Scorpia Rising Essay
Scorpia Rising: A Premier Publication
Writing a book is like creating a recipe that appeals to all, elusive, yet if completed successfully,
capable of leaving all satisfied. In the book, Scorpia Rising, author Anthony Horowitz has created a
savory delicacy that is quite unique. Through his literature, Horowitz has time and time again
proven himself to be one of the best authors to reside in the United Kingdom, and this book is no
exception. As the ninth installment in the Alex Riderseries, the book was created thirteen years
after the original, yet it loses none of the same appeal. Over 12 million copies have been sold

The author s representation of these subjects is quite accurate. In the story, the MI6 is portrayed as
an organization that is very clever and is thrifty, not to mention omnipresent within the confines of
the world. In real life, this is what can be expected of an organization with a reputation that
precedes it such as the British Secret Service. The MI6 does not intervene in many matters, but
those that it does intervene in, it manages to extinguish all turmoil and leave behind a exuberant
landscape. In November 2011, the MI6 got involved with a Benghazi terrorist plot, and managed to
foil it to the point where there is no information to this day. It is important to note that very little
data exists on the MI6. What exists, however, is very much represented successfully by Anthony
Horowitz in this mystery. The book also represents the Egyptian nation very well. Egypt as a
country is quite rich, and Alex s school in Egypt is no exception. He meets people from all walks of
life, including other British, Americans, Russians, Chinese and African students. These people are
paramount to the plot, as they are the driving force behind Razim s attack in Egypt.Without the
accurate portrayals of these seemingly insignificant characters, the plot would fail to advance due to
the lack of motivation for the antagonist. If these people were not portrayed correctly, then the
whole plot would be devastated. Therefore, the author successfully represents all subject matter in
this book, Scorpia

Essay on Star of the Sea, what kind of man is Lord Kingscourt

Star of the Sea by Joseph o Connor is a text set during the Irish Potato Famine, in 1847. The Irish
Potato famine of the 1840s was the greatest social catastrophe of 19th century Europe, yet
inspired surprisingly little imaginative writing. (Eagleton, 2002) However this book has been

Stereotyped In Richard Wright s Black Boy
I have recently completed Black Boy by Richard Wright, and believe it would be a great addition
to the tenth grade curriculum. Black Boy is an autobiography about the author Richard Wright s
life. It begins with four year old Richard setting his house on fire, which instantly draws in the
reader. From there Richard leads the reader through his life of poverty and loneliness. We
experience his losses as well as his gains in the world. Most importantly, throughout the book, we
see a different side of all races than we normally see in the books written by the dead white men.
Like the rhymes Richard created with the neighborhood kids to taunt the jews. We black
children seven, eight, and nine years of age used to run to the Jew s stores and shout: Jew Jew,
Jew what do you chew? (Wright 60,61). This book allows us to experience how it was to be black
during the Jim Crow era. This is something we are not introduced to in the current curriculum for
American Literature Advanced or English 10. Throughout this year we read books mostly written
by dead white men. Some do not have any content relating to black people, like the Scarlet Letter by

management stopped paying attention. Nut Island employees formed a highly creative team also.
When they ran out of chemicals they devised a plan to get more. Instead of calling management
they asked nearby residents to complain about the odor coming from the plant. They would have a

Comparing the Operations of the Atkins and South Beach Diets
In today s society, an ongoing trend of diets have played a major impact in the nutritional and

they were both designed and intended for dieters to produce similar results of dramatic rapid weight
loss within stages. Though the end result may be similar, the method of achieving the weight loss

The South Beach differs with the Atkins in that it allows carbohydrates, especially those high in
fiber like multigrain bread and wild rice. The South Beach diet relies on the glycemic index or GI
to determine good carbohydrates from bad carbohydrates. The glycemic index is a system that
ranks foods by how they affect your levels of blood sugar and insulin. Low GI foods that are less
than 55 produce a gradual rise in blood sugar that s easy on the body. Foods between 55 and 70
are intermediate GI foods. Foods with high GI that is more than 70 would make blood sugar as
well as insulin levels spike fast, which is a major health risk. The glycemic index is important
since keeping insulin levels low is the central principle behind all low carbohydrate diets. So
under South Beach, bad carbohydrates with a high glycemic index like refined flour products,
potatoes, pasta, and white rice are forbidden, while good carbohydrates with a low glycemic
index like whole wheat products and wild rice are permitted. The limitations and choices of
carbohydrates, in both the Atkins and the South Beach, may be one of the main differences, but
they also differ in the way the diets are executed in a step by step process. In the Atkins diet, it
requires several stages in order to achieve the intended goal weight reduction. There are four
phases within the diet. The first phase is known as the induction phase, where dieters are urged to

The First Three Words Of Our Constitution
We the people... the first three words of our constitution have changed in meaning and who the
people represent also has changed over time. The U.S constitution laid out the framework for the
future government of our country, everything from the branches of our government to our rights as
U.S citizens. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day
country, the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the
establishment of the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the
constitution with we the people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had
one thing in mind and that was to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny
Britain had. Perhaps the biggest flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of
England had. Not even the Articles of Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the
document. It only made sense for the foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing
that allows our government to function. The citizens run the government, if the citizens don t go
out and fight for things to get done then nothing will ever get done. This is why we have
representatives in each state to listen to what the people have to say on issues and laws. Another
point referring to both the government of Britain and the articles of confederation is that by saying
we the people it shows that the constitution

Photojournalism is Subjective NOT Objective Essay
Photojournalism has long been considered to have a tradition of reflecting the truth. It has been
a major element in newspaper and magazine reporting since the early 20th century. It was
probably only about a century ago when people believed that what they saw in photographs was
factual. This impact of visual image as seen by the viewer was based on the old belief that the
camera never lies . Wheeler says that photojournalism has acquired a special standing in the public
mind, a confidence that photo can reflect reality in a uniquely compelling and credible way.
(Wheeler T, 2002, p. 3) This acquisition is formed by a creation of a powerful picture, which is the

Photos are just recorded information and how it is presented is actually based on individual
interpretation by the photographers themselves. It is not absolute reality because the viewers
themselves are not there to witness the event; therefore it is not entirely factual. The meaning of a
photo illustration is also dependent on viewers individual views and assumption. As the old
metaphor says, is the glass of milk half full or half empty?
Gatekeepers such as publishers and the government play a role in photo manipulation. As
Newton (Newton J, 2001, pg. 74) suggests that those who tend the gates of reportage tend power
. These people are the ones who decide what the public В‘needs to know , what is В‘appropriate
, what is В‘news and also what the public needs to В‘see . Gatekeepers as such must answer
questions like: Will publishing a picture of the body of a drowning victim prevent others from
drowning at the same spot, or will it only exploit a tragic situation to sell newspapers? (Newton J,
2001)
Another significant reason that has played a vital role in photojournalism of recent times is the
emergence of imaging technologies. Imaging technologies has undoubtedly played a major part in
the works of a photojournalist today. Based on earlier accounts on how photography itself is an
inherent manipulation, the question is no longer directed on В‘how has imaging technologies
manipulate photojournalism but В‘how much more has imaging

The role of the child becomes one of warding off the serious depression that threatens the parents
and holding the parent together. Wallerstein calls these children the overburden child . They
accounted for 15 percent of the children in her study. Many become angry at being trapped by
the parent s demands, at being robbed at their separate identity and denied their childhood. They
are saddened, sometimes beyond repair, at seeing so few of their own needs gratified, (p. 41).
Judith Wallerstein also found that divorce has long lasting psychological effect on many children,
one that in fact, may turn out to be permanent. Children of divorce have vivid memories about
their parens separation. The details are etched permanently in their minds, more than any other
experiences in their lives. She also identified the sleeper effect as another long term implication

many young women with acute, delayed depression which she defines as the sleeper effect and

The Buddha s Spiritual Journey
The Buddha only claimed his title of the awakened one through his spiritual journey, which began
when the illusion of his sheltered life was broken upon realizing the inescapable realities of human
existence. As old age, sickness and death became apparent as the various stages of human life, this
initial understanding of existential suffering carries on as the underlying principle of the Buddha s
teachings. Sarvam anityam, meaning that all things are transient, illustrates the fundamental
concept the Buddha applies to reject the idea of ДЃtman as the eternally existing self and essence
of the sentient being. This no self doctrine, anДЃtman, was a radical stance originating in an era of
embedded eternalist thought, following the Vedic traditions and philosophy of the Upaniб№Јads.
This rejection of ДЃtman offers a path as a middle way, the Dhamma, between the self indulgence
of eternalism and self mortification according to materialist thought such as CДЃrvДЃka. I will
attempt to demonstrate how the Buddha s mandate allows for divergence from the obsession of the
self through his anДЃtman stance, to instead focus on the individual s present relationship with the
natural world, which offers a more meaningful perspective on current existence that the
Upaniб№Јads and CДЃrvДЃka cannot account for. The Upaniб№Јads does not offer a concrete
understanding of the true self, but rather describes it as an unidentifiable entity and defines ДЃtman

  • 2. Racism Has Gone Back Underground By Richard Pryor There s a lot more hypocrisy than before. Racism has gone back underground. Richard Pryor. This quote is a GREAT example of the current disadvantages black families are facing today and have been facing for a lifetime. In the 1910 blatant racism to an individual s face was something to chide someone about, but the racismhidden in our social structures have remained and is continuing to thrive. Structural racism in the U.S is defined as the normalization and legitimization of an array of dynamics that routinely advantages whites while producing cumulative and chronic adverse outcomes for people of color (Lawrence, Keleher). It is found in institutions such as, education, politics, and economics. As a mixed status family the individuals in my family have faced many disadvantages and some advantages at the hands of structural racism. It affected our access to Housing, the labor market, healthcare, and education. I asked four of my family members about their personal experience with structural racism and I will also include my experience in this paper. To begin, housing discrimination is discrimination based on protected class status, race, ethnicity and so much more in the realm of housing and real estate. It can lead to racial segregation and housing inequality. It began to occur in the United States after the abolition of slavery as part of federal law. • 5. What Is High School Persuasive Essay High School Persuasive Essay Student Sample The Value of Taking Risks and Making Mistakes A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing, wrote George Bernard Shaw. This is true, one can not truly live life to the fullest and experience all of the things that make life beautiful if they are not willing to put themselves out there and risk being cut open. Mistakes are simply learning tools, a means of giving us higher aspirations. They are underappreciated and should be embraced rather than shunned. Without mistakes, life would be boring, then where would we be? As small children we are naturally very accident prone creatures. Everything is new and shiny and somehow we are attracted to all of the things that are potentially harmful. Our minds are designed to want what we shouldn t and to not do as we are told. From a psychological standpoint, the blisters that form on the burned toddler s hand are a negative reinforcement. Once the child has experienced the pain firsthand, it will associate the heat of the stovetop or the oven with pain. After the association has been made, the child will not want to make that particular mistake again. That s all psychobabble though. With every scrape, burn, and scar, one s childhood becomes a long string of memories and stories that are bound to be retold as a learning tool for the next generation or just to look back on and be able laugh at the naivety that the most important ... Why? Has it got us on the edge of our seats so often. The answer lies in the sheer magnitude of the Dark Matter all around us. If certain predictions are true, then even right now as I write this , and when you read, billions of Neutrinos (hypothesized Dark Matter particle) are passing through us , without us even feeling them. Various astronomical techniques such as Gravitational Lensing, and Galaxy Rotation Curves have revealed that the mass of the celestial clusters such galaxies andd galaxy clusters is majorly composed of something other than what we observe from our conventional observation techniques. As for you, Lord Nightburn, I see you aligning yourself with Holdrum and Parsis. If Parsis considers you an ally, it should make it easier for your spy to retrieve the amulet, and with the defeat of Tresval, you would be able to retrieve the tome you have long sought. That is how I see it. Balthazar grabbed his glass and took a long sip of Kabus to wet his parched throat after such a long soliloquy. Well thought out, Balthazar. I have to agree that it would be the most beneficial to both parties. Nightburn decided to keep the possibility of an agreement with the goblin General Zhousbek to himself because if successful, it would definitely turn the tide in favor of Holdrum and Parsis and make retrieval of the tome a certainty. Scott Fitzgerald are two novels, which address similar themes with completely opposite resolves. The authors use their main characters, Hester, Dimmesdale, Gatsby, and Daisy, in their respective works to present these themes. The action in both novels revolves around unfaithfulness, its effects on the characters, and the results of committing adultery, which prove to be antipode from one novel to the other. However, Daisy then fell in love with money and the man who brought it, Tom. When Gatsby returned, he tried to make their love work again, but his efforts were made through deceit, and illegal activities. These attempts to win Daisy through a false persona and money made Daisy s love a possession, which could be won or even bought, and subsequently it became impure. These contradictions and paradox continue through the novel into the endings. The differing attitudes towards unfaithfulness in the novels result in differing conclusions for the characters. Although Hester and Dimmesdale do not consummate their relationship, their tribulations are not for naught. Both become better, more understanding, people because of their experiences. Today s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Executive Summary CIA Central Intelligence Agency Today s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is centered on the same basic principles as the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in the 1940 s but with some significant changes, specifically in its organization and methods. The OSS, the world s first global intelligence organization, was organized and overseen by Wild Bill Donovan and expanded at an unprecedented pace throughout World War II. The OSS was the foundation for today s CIA. It was because of the successes and failures of the OSS that the CIA has been able to grow and develop. As is made clear by the detailed descriptions of Bill Donovan s routine and procedures in the biography Wild Bill Donovan by Douglas Waller, the leadership and management of the CIA today is drastically different from the original OSS. However, the way in which these symbols are interpreted have gone through significant changes as the human relationship to death has progressed. This relationship has been fundamentally shaped by interactions with disease, war, and varying levels of technology, which influences the amount of deathindividuals encounter throughout their lives. This intersectionality of causal factors, symbolism, and interpretation of the human condition, is continually illustrated through different cultural means, especially art and dГ©cor and holidays. In the post war to contemporary period, Death has been largely removed from Western cultures, particularly North America and Europe, as technological advancements, and the sanitization of the public gaze have occurred. The court s decision to allow the state to impose mandatory small pox immunizations was based on the justification that it was for the safety of the general public (Mariner, Annas, Glantz, 2005). In ignoring the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) there has been increase in outbreaks, which can be linked to vaccine refusal (Phadke, Bednarczyk, Salmon, Omer, 2016). In Table 1. of the article Association Between Vaccine Refusal and Vaccine Preventable Disease in the United States, it clearly demonstrates that more cases of measles were found with those who were unvaccinated against measles. How Did The Intolerable Acts Cause The American Revolution The Intolerable Acts, without a doubt, caused the most unrest in the colonies, therefore provoking the start of the American Revolution. In 1774, Parliament passed the Coercive Acts in reaction to the Boston Tea Party, where the Sons of Liberty dressed as Native Americans and smashed 340 chests of tea and dumped it all into the Boston Harbor. The Coercive Acts were called the Intolerable Acts by the colonists because they felt that they could not tolerate these new laws. Firstly, the British suspended all Massachusetts town meetings and the Massachusetts legislature, basically putting the colony under military rule. Lastly, a British official who committed a crime in the American colonies could hold their trial in Britain in front of a more lenient judge and jury, as stated in the Coercive Acts. The South Beach differs with the Atkins in that it allows carbohydrates, especially those high in fiber like multigrain bread and wild rice. The South Beach diet relies on the glycemic index or GI to determine good carbohydrates from bad carbohydrates. The glycemic index is a system that ranks foods by how they affect your levels of blood sugar and insulin. Low GI foods that are less than 55 produce a gradual rise in blood sugar that s easy on the body. Foods between 55 and 70 are intermediate GI foods. Foods with high GI that is more than 70 would make blood sugar as well as insulin levels spike fast, which is a major health risk. The glycemic index is important since keeping insulin levels low is the central principle behind all low carbohydrate diets. So under South Beach, bad carbohydrates with a high glycemic index like refined flour products, potatoes, pasta, and white rice are forbidden, while good carbohydrates with a low glycemic index like whole wheat products and wild rice are permitted. The limitations and choices of carbohydrates, in both the Atkins and the South Beach, may be one of the main differences, but they also differ in the way the diets are executed in a step by step process. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day country, the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the establishment of the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the constitution with we the people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had one thing in mind and that was to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny Britain had. Perhaps the biggest flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of England had. Not even the Articles of Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the document. It only made sense for the foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing that allows our government to function. It was probably only about a century ago when people believed that what they saw in photographs was factual. It is not absolute reality because the viewers themselves are not there to witness the event; therefore it is not entirely factual. The meaning of a photo illustration is also dependent on viewers individual views and assumption. As the old metaphor says, is the glass of milk half full or half empty? Gatekeepers such as publishers and the government play a role in photo manipulation. As Newton (Newton J, 2001, pg. 74) suggests that those who tend the gates of reportage tend power . These people are the ones who decide what the public В‘needs to know , what is В‘appropriate , what is В‘news and also what the public needs to В‘see . Gatekeepers as such must answer questions like: Will publishing a picture of the body of a drowning victim prevent others from drowning at the same spot, or will it only exploit a tragic situation to sell newspapers? Imaging technologies has undoubtedly played a major part in the works of a photojournalist today. Based on earlier accounts on how photography itself is an inherent manipulation, the question is no longer directed on В‘how has imaging technologies manipulate photojournalism but В‘how much more has imaging ... Sarvam anityam, meaning that all things are transient, illustrates the fundamental concept the Buddha applies to reject the idea of ДЃtman as the eternally existing self and essence of the sentient being. Hitler and the Nazis pushed their propaganda onto the general population, insisting that the disabled placed an unnecessary burden on the country by portraying them as problematic, but also as freaks.7 Disabled persons, including those who were both physically and mentally handicapped, were ordered to mental institutions and the Nazi euthanasia programs began.
