Public Mass Shootings And Suicide Bombings
On the evening of Friday, 13 November 2015, a massacre including of public mass shootings and
suicide bombings occurred in the capital of France, Paris. The attackers killed 130 people and
wounded 368 serious injuries. Just 10 months previous, on January 7, 2015 two terrorists attacked
Charlie Hebdo, an office of a Parisian satirical magazine. They killed eleven and wounded eleven
people. During the attacks in Paris, no one victim was armed. They didn t have any chance to defense
for themselves. When police arrived, it was too late to save the innocents. The world today is full of
dangerous with terrorism, criminals, mass shootings, and so forth. We re not safe from anything.
Today, I am going to tell you about the right to carry concealed gun and why we need it. I have
researched both sides of this controversy, and the need to carry concealed gun is the stronger
argument. According to Deborah Homsher, author of Women Guns: Politics and the Culture of
Firearms in America, when states passed the laws which give adults the right to carry concealed guns
if they don t have a criminal record or mental illness, the number of multiple victim shootings
declined by 84 percent (265). Furthermore, a 2015 report from the Crime Prevention Research found
that the number of concealed guns permits has soared, growing from 4.6 million in 2007 to over 12.8
million in 2014 (6). First, I m going to tell you effective of carry concealed gun. Second, I ll tell you

Overview Of Artificial Neural Networks
Introduction Artificial neural networks are a class of computational structures (Lesk, 2013) made up of
several processing elements, called artificial neurons that are connected and organized in layers
(Larder et al., 2007). They are capable of generating models for the detection of non linear
functions(..). Their algorithms are extensively applied in biology and medicine to solve complex
problems, more specifically for prediction or classification of solutions or to refine methodological
aspects. (Florence and Balasubramanie, 2010). Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a retrovirus
that can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). (Kim et al., 2010). It is a disease in
which the body immune system weakens progressively, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artificial neural networks have been used extensively as a complimentary bioinformatics tool to make
approximations of the cleavage site activity and specificity. First uses of ANNs to solve the problem
The aim of first research study was to develop a classification model that, given a sequence of eight
amino acids, could discriminate between sequences which are either cleavable or uncleavable by the
HIV 1 protease. (Kim et al., 2010). The neural learning algorithms used most frequently was back
propagation neural networks (BPNNs) (Thomson et al., 2003) because it performs well on prediction
problems. (Sibanda and Pretorius, 2012). When BBNN was used for the prediction of the HIV 1
protease cleavage site, it gave a prediction accuracy 92%(Thomson et al., 2010) However, one of the
major disadvantages of using ANNs to analyse biological data referred to the impossibility of most
ANNs of recognizing non numerical features like amino acids. Hence an encoding process to model
the amino acids was preferable. (Thomson et al., 2003) The advantage of the Bio basic functional
neural networks The peculiarity of this algorithm relates to its ability to recognise amino acids
directly. Thus, avoiding the use of 20 binary bits to represent each amino acid is advantageous. (2003)
The prediction accuracy of BBFNN was proved in a research study using 362 HIV protease
sequences, where 114 were with cleavage sites and

Common Viral Cold Essay examples
My report is on the common viral cold, I would like to go talk about how it is cought, its symptoms
and how to cure it as quick as possible. The common cold is cought by coming in contact with some
one who has the virus, thus the cold is cought through direct contact, from one infected person to the
next, or from, Being in side in the winter time with the heater on all the time, the lack of air flow is a
great place for air born particles to sit and rest up the heaters on only move the virus around more.
The best way to avoid catching the cold is not to shake hands with a person who has a nasty habit of
picking their nose, because the virus then gets on there hands, and is spread from them to you in all
the happy hand shaking that goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The virus had the capacity to mutate, so due to the fact that it mutates frequently our bodies find it
difficult to recognize it and it takes longer to fight the infection. Recovery from the cold is fairly
simple, stay warm (not hot) Get lots of fluids and rest. Wait the cold out it should go away in 5 to 7
days, if the symptoms worsen or drag out for ever then go see a doctor, it might have turned into an
upper respiratory infection, which is quite nasty and painful. Contrary to popular believe over the
counter drugs do not do much for the cold, and may only add to your misery by giving stomach pains
and drowsiness.
Cough drops may ease the coughing and sore through, but be are full, cough drops can become
addictive after a few days, and hard candies do the same thing. So use your soar throat as an example
to eat your favorite hard candy. As of yet there is no cure for the common cold, due to the fact that it is
able to mutate it self when ever it sees fit. But it does provide us with some useful information.
Ancient civilizations knew colds as katarrhein, from the Greek meaning to flow down . In the last
century however, the term
cold or catching cold was blamed on England s cold, damp weather, and this term is now used world
wide. Now lets disprove some old wives tales O.K.. Remember how your mother always said Don t go

A Thin Film Characterization Technique
In vitro results showed that UV C treatment not only improved the cell spreading and attachment, but
also it made the cells more metabolically active. UV C effectively removed the hydrocarbon
contaminants and exposed the TiO2 on the surface, which is a good indication for higher and faster
bone to implant contact than hydrocarbon coated implants. Larsson et al. (1996) showed that high
degrees of bone contact and bone formation were achieved with titanium implants which were
modified on oxide thickness. On the other hand, Aita et al. (2009) revealed that UV induced biological
effects could be obtained even on the surfaces of titanium dioxide bulks without depositing additional
oxidative titanium or sintering.
Ellipsometry, as a thin film characterization technique, was selected because it is non invasive, non
destructive, non contacting, and can allow the user to determine several film properties simultaneously
(Woollam JA, Snyder PG 1990; Vedam K 1998). Based on this, the tested samples did not undergo
any surface modifications by this device. Also, all the work for the crucial thickness measurements
(ellipsometry) and the UV C illumination (light source) was done in a HEPA filter protected Clean
Room. The total number of particles available for adsorption (in the background) were fewer than 100
condensation nuclei / cc, which met clean room standards for NASA class 100 (Clean Room Fact

Blockbuster Competitive Advantage
Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation was a popular movie rental store created Dallas, Texas in 1985
by a computer programmer named David Cook. Cook s experience allowed him to create a program to
track Blockbuster s inventory and consumer preferences. This gave the business the competitive
advantage of tracking customers movie preferences and customizing inventory per location.
Two years later, Wayne Huizenga, founder of Waste Management, and two of his colleagues
purchased interest in the company for 18 million dollars. He knew Blockbuster had huge potential
because it was a one product business that appealed nation wide. Huizenga helped with the expansion

They had lost too many customers to Netflix and decided to drop their late fee in another attempt to
gain their customers back.
Despite the signs that Blockbuster needed to reevaluate their core competitive strengths, they still
believed that people wanted to buy the experience of walking into a store and buying movies. But with
e service on the rise, consumers were turning to cheaper, more convenient services. Blockbuster tried
to compete with competitors in 2009 by launching movie kiosks and offered customers by mail and
digital distribution channels, but Blockbuster was stuck in its ways with the local stores and company
overhead. By the end of 2010, Blockbuster filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Profit should be established from customer values. A huge majority of Blockbuster s profit came from
late fees. They had so much overhead costs to keep their building running that when they tried to
compete with Netflix s no late fees , It actually costed them profit and they later had to reinstate the

was an alcoholic that couldn t find a job and wasn t able to financially support a family : Dad is out
looking for a job again and sometimes he comes home with the smell of whiskey (p 22). They didn t

represented by political tension between wealthy, powerful England and impoverished Ireland. In the
opening lines, Frank made clear his opinion on this topic by talking about the English and the terrible
things they did to us for eight hundred long years . Most of the adult characters in the memoir we re

Mailbox Tool, Dropsonde Sensor And The Infrared Satellite
In this modern day and age, there are many possible solutions to many possible questions. A common
occurence recently, has been researchers and archeologists wondering what the next best technology is
going to be. In order to bring answers to this question, many new technologies are being developed.
Some examples of such are, the Mailbox tool, Dropsonde Sensor, and the Infrared Satellite. Although
all of these have their specialties, the most advanced of the three is the Dropsonde Sensor. This
conclusion is clearly evident for a number of reasons. For instance, they can help reveal the goings on
of a hurricane before it touches land, as well as predicting its fate. If the winds slow down by fractions
of a degree within a matter of seconds, the Sensor will know. As well as provide explicit evidence to

Culture, Culture And Culture Essay
Culture
Many times we hear concepts like Oriental culture , Italian culture or Gothic Culture . So we can
understand and verify that it is an important concept related to the idea of the society where we live in.
Culture, in Sociology, is a concept developed during XVIII and XIX centuries that has had various
definitions.
One exhaustive definition is in Browne (2015, p. 31):
Culture refers to the language, beliefs, values and norms, customs, dress, diet, roles, knowledge and
skills, and all the other things that people learn that make up the way of life of any society
So when we use the expression Italian culture we know that we are talking about the entire set of
believes, knowledge and the whole way of life that characterise Italian people. Something connected
to their country but that is with them wherever they go. If they are born in Italy or within an Italian
group of people they will speak Italian, they will eat traditional Italian food when they are home, they
will be probably Catholic etc.
While many concepts inside Browne definition are familiar and easy to identify like language and
diet, three of them need a proper explanation for a better understanding of them.
Values, Norms, Roles
What are values ?
The word values is often used in our daily language. When we listen to someone that is talking about
her or his values we understand that that person is talking about something that marks out what

Film Contributions of the Sixties Essay
Film Contributions of the Sixties Beginning roughly with the release of Stanley Kubrick s Dr.
Strangelove: Or How I Stopped Worrying and Loved the Bomb in 1964, and continuing for about the
next decade, the Sixties era of filmmaking made many lasting impressions on the motion picture
industry. Although editing and pacing styles varied greatly from Martin Scorcesse s hyperactive pace,
to Kubrick s slow methodical pace, there were many uniform contributions made by some of the era s
seminal directors. In particular, the Sixties saw the return of the auteur, as people like Francis Ford
Coppola and Stanley Kubrick wrote and directed their own screenplays, while Woody Allen wrote,
directed and starred in his own films. Kubrick, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These sequences are a result of a film, which for most of its run time does not presented the subjective
vision of any one character. In stylistic and visual terms, there is a movement from the three
dimensional style of the film s first half to the flatter, more abstract visual style of the Star Gate
sequence. The film s movement towards abstraction can be understood both in visual and narrative
terms (Falsetto, 115).
2001 s presentation of details from the Dawn of Man sequence, to later space travel scenes are shot
with complete conviction and impeccable detail. The viewer believes that the world might have
actually looked like what Kubrick presented it as, several million years ago, and the depiction of space
travel is just as convincing. The use of models, front projection, the slow editing techniques and
camera work all help to create a more complete illusion (Falsetto, 141).
If 2001 was presented almost completely objectively, than Kubrick s next film, A Clockwork Orange
(1972) was presented almost completely subjectively. This may have been in part due to the
constraints of the original novel by William Burgess, but nonetheless the film is told from the point of
view of its central character, Alex. When Alex is not speaking on camera, he can often be heard as a

How Did Scarlet Fever Occur In The 18th Century
In the late 18th century a new disease appeared called Scarlet Fever. Scarlet fever is an infection
caused by streptococcus. This caused a sore throat, fever, and a very red rough rash that started in the
torso area and would soon spread over the entire body. Scarlet fever mainly targeted children from the
age of four to the age of eight. But anyone can get Scarlet fever. It would almost look like the person
infected had been badly sunburnt. The tongue and lymph nodes would also become very swollen after
the person had caught Scarlet fever.
Scarlet fever was deadly until the mid 19th century when antibiotics were made to treat this disease.
These antibiotics have reduced the deaths to very little. With the antibiotics recovery takes from
around seven to ten days at most. While recovery you should be resting almost the entire day while
drinking plenty of liquids. Also the patient should not come in contact with anyone until after 48 hours
of taking the medicine because it will still be contagious. A couple days after you start the antibiotics

haven t got skin treatment you will probably have lasting effects with your skin. But if you get

after the peeling has healed you shouldn t get it ever again. They say that once you have Scarlet fever

Insanity Plea Essay
Insanity Plea Insanity, comes from the Latin word sanus, meaning healthy. Insane is meant to be the
opposite, sick or of unsound mind. # In the court of law, the jury must prove that at the time of the
crime, the defendant was not in a sane mind. The attorneys job is to prove without a doubt, that the
defendant was not in control of their actions, at the time the crime was committed. Once this is done
and the verdict is given, if found guilty by reason of insanity, the person is usually sent to a mental
hospital, where treatment can be give. Once at the hospital the patient is then give therapy and even
drugs if needed. At the time when the person and the doctors feel he/she are capable of going back

A person also can be found not guilty by reason of insanity if he or she did know what was happening
but did not understand that it was wrong. Since this rule requires a disease or defect of the mind, the
lowering of a person s inhibitions by drugs, alcohol, blind hatred, extreme anger or some neurotic
behavior would not provide an insanity defense.
However, more recently states have been adopting a more interpretative view on the insanity plea. The
American Law Institute (ALI) requires the defendants to be judged and found not guilty if either two
of theses points can be adequately established in the court of law. First of all they must show that due
to an mental disease or defect the defendants lacked, at the time, the substantial mental capacity either
to understand what they did, and, secondly to conform their act to the requirements of the law.# In the
court of law you can also plea that at the time of the crime you were in a diminished capacity,
incapable of premeditation. Which means that even though you are sane in your everyday life at the
time of the crime you were in a sudden mad rage, causing you to act the way you did, so therefore you
were temporarily insane. While an insanity defense could be raised in almost

This action, which took place but a few years after Washington s legalization of assisted suicide in
2008, demonstrates a continuing willingness to make very controversial changes. Overall, Washington
is a Democratic state in a historically liberal area of the United States with a major industry involved
in health. In addition, Washington has demonstrated a tendency to promote controversial changes
through its legalization of marijuana. These factors are all likely to have contributed to Washington s
policy on physician assisted death.
3. Policy Info: (what is the policy, who passed it, when, how was it passed)
Washington legalized physician assisted suicide through the Death with Dignity Act, which was
passed by an initiative on November 4, 2008 and became law on March 4, 2009. As the Death with
Dignity Act was an initiative (Initiative 1000), it was both proposed and voted into law by the citizens
of Washington. In particular, the initiative was filed and supported by former governor Booth Gardner,
who helped garner enough signatures for the initiative to be put on the ballot in 2008. The initiative
passed with 1,715,219 votes or 57.82%, a significant margin ( Washington Initiative 1000 ). The act
allows terminally ill adults seeking to end their life to request lethal doses of medication from medical

Federalism And Separation Of Power
In 18th century America, delegates representing twelve of the thirteen states gathered in Philadelphia
to correct the national government. At the time, the existing government, which was under the Articles
of Confederation, was too weak and not doing the job required to administer the new nation. On the
other hand, representatives from the states tried to create a strong internal government without
allowing one person, or party, to gain too much power. Consequently, the framers of the Constitution
took various precautions in order to prevent tyranny within the government. Guards like; checks and
balances, Federalism, separation of powers, and the balance of power between small and large were

In addition, the Constitution states that liberty requires that the three great departments of power
should be separate and distinct , implying that the Legislative Branch [Congress; House of
Representatives and Senate] should be completely unrelated, in terms of responsibility, to the
Executive [President] and the Judiciary [courts]. Although different in responsibility, the three
branches are equal in power and all take part in federal processes. While the Legislative Branch
creates laws, the Executive can choose to enforce laws made by Congress. However, if the nature of
the law(s) are questionable, the Judiciary can step in and declare the act as unconstitutional. Similar to
Federalism, all branches have specific checks on each other in order to balance power. For example,
the Executive has the ability to to appoint justices to the courts, with the approval of congress.
However, Congress can impeach a president or judge if they have committed an act of treason. In turn,
the Judicial Branch can declare laws and acts created by the Congress as unconstitutional. To
summarize, separation of powers can help guard against tyranny by preventing the accumulation of
powers, for the accumulation of all powers... in the same hands, whether one, a few or, many... may be

The Contemporary Historical-Jesus By Elisabeth Schüssler...
The contemporary Historical Jesus is in a kyriarchal structure of domination which belittles feminism
and Judaism. In Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza s book, Jesus and the Politics of Interpretation, Fiorenza
seeks to break the kyriarchal context in which Jesus is and foster an identity crisis in the scientific self
understanding of the Historical Jesus scholarship (Fiorenza 2). Fiorenza, a professor at Harvard
Divinity school, specializes in scripture and interpretation from a feminist perspective. She has noticed
masculine language which dominates in the construction of the Historical Jesus and attempts to
challenge this language to reform the context of the quest for the Historical Jesus so it is all inclusive.
Jesus and the Politics of Interpretation is not another book which seeks to describe who the Historical
Jesus is; rather, it is a sustained rhetorical inquiry into the scholarly discourses that produce the
Historical Jesus as an article of trade and an object of spiritual consumption in the global capitalist
market . (Fiorenza 13) The Historical Jesus: A Guide for the Perplexed by Helen K. Bond is a
supplement to Fiorenza as it is full of the quests which Fiorenza desires to challenge. The Historical
Jesus as a symbolic scholarly construct and as an ideologically produced subject allows elite men to
be in a position which subordinates woman (Fiorenza 15). To combat the elite malestream perspective,
Fiorenza investigates the power and breaks it down in hopes of

hope the time has not yet gone by when that declaration can be made (p.219). This shows how Britain

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Distributed Energy
CHAPTER 2
2. DISTRIBUTED GENERATION
Distributed generation, also called on site generation, dispersed generation, embedded generation,
decentralized generation, decentralized energy or distributed energy generates electricity from many
small energy sources. Currently, industrial countries generate most of their electricity in large
centralized facilities, such as fossil fuel (coal, gas powered) nuclear or hydropower plants. These
plants have excellent economies of scale, but usually transmit electricity long distances and negatively
affect the environment.
For example, coal power plants are built away from cities to prevent their heavy air pollution from
affecting the populace. In addition, such plants are often built near collieries to minimize the cost of
transporting coal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the UK were to implement this countrywide an additional 2 4 GWe would become available.(Note
that the energy is already being generated elsewhere to provide the high initial gas pressure this
method simply distributes the energy via a different route.)Future generations of electric vehicles will
have the ability to deliver power from the battery into the grid when needed. This could also be an
important distributed generation resource.
Recently interest in Distributed Energy Systems (DES) is increasing, particularly onsite generation.
This interest is because larger power plants are economically unfeasible in many regions due to
increasing system and fuel costs, and more strict environmental regulations. In addition, recent
technological advances in small generators, Power Electronics, and energy storage devices have
provided a new opportunity for distributed energy resources at the distribution level, and especially,
the incentive laws to utilize renewable energies has also encouraged a more decentralized approach to

The Financial Performance Of Tesco Plc
In this report I will be analysing and evaluating the financial performance of Tesco PLC over the past
5 years (2010 to 2014).
Background Company Information
Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen, he originally started up his business as a market stall
selling surplus groceries in the East End of London. The company is now not only a grocery store but
also a general merchandise retailer, selling clothes, furniture, electrical items and wide range of other
products and services including Tesco Bank, Tesco Mobile, and Blinkbox video on demand service.
Tesco currently operates in 12 countries around the world, employ over 500,000 people and serve tens
of millions of customers every week both in store and online.
Tesco became a private limited company in 1932 and in 1947 Tesco Stores (Holdings) PLC floated on
the stock exchange with a share price of 25p per share. Tesco were interested in what their customers
buying habits were in order to try and evolve their company so they decided to closely watch
customers behaviour and this led to the introduction of the Clubcard scheme in 1995 and a banking
service in 1997. This allowed them to collect customer data and personalise their discounts in
response to what they bought and this made them the UK s top supermarket. Aggressive negotiation
with suppliers helped them grow their market share from a mere 7% in 1971 to 31% in 2007 making
them the UK s top supermarket, which they still are today, (as according to the website

My Experience At Tuskegee University
My experience began as early as college, when I used to volunteer with school going children in
orphanages, and would advise them on the social problems they faced in school. That is when I
decided that being a school counselor was the perfect job for me. Having started at an early age, I find
that my expertise does in fact lie in helping students deal with social pressure, and helping them cope
with the stress and frustration it brings. I have also been successfully able to help students improve
their self esteem by making them focus on past successes, so that they may be able to garner the
strength for future aspirations. I don t think age has any role to play when it comes to warming up to
students. As long as they can find a mentor, a guide and trust in someone, they are likely to open up to
them.
As I started my college career at Tuskegee University, where I double majored in psychology and
English. I was passionate about creating social awareness and helping people, but I was unsure what
career I was interested in after graduation. I thought about attending graduate school for Counseling
Psychology, but I just was not sure about it. I spoke to a professor in the Counselor Education program
at Georgia State University and discussed my interests with her. She suggested I look for a program
accredited by Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
School Counseling. I enrolled in the School Counseling program at Clark Atlanta

Cheerleaders Hard Work
Hard Work Should Pay Off
Hard work and dedication pays off for athletes but goes unnoticed for cheerleaders. The hard work
that is put in by cheerleaders needs to be recognized. Allowing cheerleaders to earn an athletic letter
but not be a part of the Chillicothe High School (CHS) C Club, like the other athletic letter recipients,
is being unjust to the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders should be able to be a part of the CHS C Club
because cheerleaders are able to receive an athletic letter, dedicate personal time, and follow Missouri
State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) regulations.
Cheerleaders, along with athletes in varsity sports, receive an athletic letter at the end of the season,
but only the athletes able to be a part of the CHS C Club. C Club is for students who have received an
athletic letter in a sport. AHere at CHS the cheerleading squad is considered only a club, not a sport.
All athletes that are a part of a varsity sport will receive an athletic letter. Cheerleading, although a
club, will receive an athletic letter. Since the cheerleaders are not considered a sport they are not able
to be a part of the CHS C Club.
Secondly, cheerleaders have to put in a lot of personal time outside of practice for the little things that
seem to go unnoticed or recognized. Ever seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the athletes that participate in sports have to follow MSHSAA regulations as well. If sports

why should cheerleaders not get the same opportunity if they too have to follow MSHSAA

requirements that the athletes have to follow. If the requirements that are set by MSHSAA are not met
then the participant or athlete cannot earn the athletic letter, therefore enabling them to be a part of the

The Price Of Persecution By Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye
The Price of Persecution
The plight of the weak against the powerful is one of the oldest and compelling stories that can be
told, and it has always been the story of race in the United States. Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye is a
candid look into the lives of African Americans in the early 1940 s, focusing on the drama surrounding
the coming of age of young girls. The debilitating effects of racism, sexism, and classism on children
and adults of different social statuses are explored through the stories of a number of families. By
illustrating a society in which each class elevates itself by oppressing those below them, Morrison
demonstrates how the cyclical nature of oppression can cripple a community and family for
generations. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her son, forbidden from befriending children deemed too black and uncultured, initially longed for a
connection with the boys whose hardness... and wild blackness (87) he admires. However, he
eventually internalizes the message that the shade of his skin renders him superior to his peers and he
decides to avoid contact with them. Geraldine s obsession with pedantic distinctions between different
groups of black residents in Lorain leads her son and the whole next generation to preserve the biases
of their parents. The maltreatment practiced by those of mixed race has a real impact on those they
perceive as inferior. Maureen Peal is a wealthy mixed race girl that moves to Pecola s school. She
enters Pecola s narrative by holding some boys intent on harrassing Pecola at bay and starts a friendly
conversation with her. Soon after, she turns on Pecola and feeling her image being threatened yells I
am cute! And you ugly! Black and ugly black e mos. I am cute! (73). Pecola, who had idolized
Maureen for her cute looks and popularity, is devastated. The repetition in Maureen s declaration
mirrors the constancy of society s message to young black girls like Pecola: she is not valuable, and it
is because of her race. Maureen, as a person of mixed race, is hardly the model most white children
would aspire to. She possesses only an increment of superiority over girls like Pecola, but that slight
advantage allows her to show disdain to the lesser

Pros And Cons Of Holocaust Denial
Over 70 years ago, one of, if not the, darkest and most evil events in human history began. Starting in
1941 and ending in 1945, up to about 11 million people (including 6 million Jews), who were deemed
sub human by the Nazi regime of Germany, were systematically rounded up and exterminated by
various means. These means included but were not limited to gas chambers, deliberate starving, and
mass shootings carried out by paramilitary groups affiliated with the Nazis and SS (Schutzstaffel),
such as the Einsatzgruppen. The holocaust is one of the best documented events in history. Despite
this, many people choose to deny the holocaust. I will be disproving many of the arguments used by
holocaust deniers.
Holocaust denial is a vehicle for Neo Nazism and Nazi apology. Holocaust denial (often called
holocaust revisionism) is the belief that what we know as the holocaust (the systematic murder of
approximately 6 million Jews) is greatly exaggerated if not totally incorrect. Holocaust deniers believe
that the number of Jews killed is closer to approximately 500 000 and that they weren t deliberately
killed through means such as gas chambers or mass shootings but were killed (unintentionally) by
starvation, disease, and Allied bombing. Holocaust deniers deny the holocaust in an attempt to bring
the Nazi regime, and Hitler himself, into favourable light. To the relatively uninformed layman,
holocaust denial can sometimes appear to be an apolitical attempt to correct or revise

The Sexual Revolution
Sexual intercourse (n): sexual contact between individuals involving penetration.
Throughout the years, social norms in the United States changed drastically. Some people may blame
the Sexual Revolution for those causes. The Sexual Revolution, also known as the Sexual Liberation
was a social movement that provoked drastic change in traditional behavior related to sexuality and
relationships. Before The Sexual Revolution even occurred, people were considered very closed
minded and unaware of the possibilities. The traditional norm during this era was establishing sexual
intercourse strictly for after marriage. Going against that norm was seen as both shameful and riskful.
Not only that, but sexual intercourse was also strictly enforced to be between heterosexual pairs. The
LGBT community was both unknown and unheard of during this time period. Aside from people s
sexual attractions, Women s rights was not a very big topic spoken about at the time, as well. Women
were also under very strict norms, in which they were spoken down to, had limited rights and were
silenced in every way possible.
During the 1960s, groups of people who were part of the LGBT community, or as it was known back
then the gay community , began identifying themselves as so, very openly. Both gay men and lesbians
took direct action in their homes and went against the shame that their community was known to go
under. For as long as anyone can recall, the LGBT community was never exactly accepted by all.

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave Analysis
The Matrix is a film that delves into many philosophical ideas, one of which is Plato s Allegory of the
Cave. In the allegory, prisoners are chained to the cave wall. They cannot move and are only allowed
to see the wall in front of them. Behind them is a burning fire, and puppeteers control the puppets that
cast shadows on the wall of the cave. The prisoners can only perceive what they see on the cave wall,
and their conception of reality is based on this incomplete view, which is an imperfect copy of the real
world.
However one of the prisoners breaks free from the chains and escapes from the cave. His eyes, used to
darkness, are blinded by the sun to the point that he wants to return to the cave. Slowly, his eyes adjust
and after much suffering and self realisation the man can finally perceive reality as it actually is. The

Matrix, protected by the agents (the guards that prevent freedom). However, this truth is difficult for
him to accept. Neo is blinded by the Sun s light in the film, he asks Morpheus Why do my eyes hurt?
Morpheus replies, Because you ve never used them before. Just like Plato s prisoner, Neo is at first in
denial, but eventually realises that the shadows he sees are not the truth, just shadows cast on the wall
by the puppets. His eyes get adjusted to the Sun s brilliant light and he sees reality.
Another interesting link between Plato s Allegory and The Matrix is that both the prisoner and Neo
grow more intelligent and develop new skills. They are in full control of their own abilities. The
prisoner in the Cave learns infinite wisdom once he breaks free from the cave. In The Matrix , Neo is
able to stop bullets, defy gravity, and possesses superhuman abilities once he accepts the truth and

The Project Heart Healing Ceremony And Film
The Project Heart healing ceremony and film can be described by thinking of it in terms of story
types. Annette Simmons suggests various story types that storytellers may choose from when
attempting to lead or influence others. Simmons discusses one, the Vision story, in which the
storyteller uses sensory detail to express an emotional appeal for a future outcome (14 17). Thus,
Leslie asks residential school survivors to share their life experiences with members of their
community. She does this because she has a vision that when members of the audience honor the
journey of survivors by hearing their testimony, it will help all members of her community to heal. So

She also uses her public platform to teach that sharing stories and having them acknowledged and
honored leads to a path for healing for those whose voices have been historically silenced. Another
leadership story type that Simmons discusses is the Values in Action story, which brings values to life
by respectfully instilling [them] in a way that keeps people thinking for themselves (20). Leslie asks
the schoolchildren to imagine what it must have been like to be raised in an Indian residential school,
stating that the children are the next generation who will walk forward with values and ideals that will
change our world and make it a better place (Project Heart). The adults who participated in the
ceremony (in addition to those who view it through film) must also face the same question, as well as
face their individual and collective values as demonstrated by their response to her poignant inquiry.
That is to say, if adults see children acting according to a certain ethical standard, the adults are also
likely to choose to follow with their own ethical actions. Finally, Simmons discusses what she names I
know what you are thinking stories, in which the storyteller attempts to name the audience s
objections as a way of disarming any potential resistance to influence (23 26). Leslie tells the children
at the beginning and the end of the Project Heart film that she teaches history from multiple
perspectives because she loves Canada. I tell

Examples Of Femininity In The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid: Hegemonic Femininity The transition from a girl to a woman is created by the
socially implemented ideals of femininity depicted in commercials, books, and mainly films. One of
the famous animated princess Disney films, The Little Mermaid can be easily added to yet another
Disney film portraying hegemonic femininity. In the 1989 film The Little Mermaid (Ron Clements,
John Musker), a beautiful, young mermaid is willing to make a risky deal with an evil sea witch
because she yearns to walk on land and fall in love with a prince, while secretly the sea witch wishes
for the mermaid to lose the deal. Ultimately, mermaid ends up achieving her dream of marrying the

Eric. She strongly believes she needs him to be happy and that without him she is incapable of doing
so. That is why Ariel takes Ursula s deal, changes her body and sacrifices her voice while leaving her
family behind. This validates the hegemonic code of femininity because women are seen as
individuals who cannot take care of themselves and are only complete with a man.
After the climax, when the deal has been made with Ursula, Ariel finds herself in a difficult situation.
With only having three days to get a kiss of true love from prince Eric, she undoubtedly needs Eric s
kiss to save her. Getting close to the end of the film, there is a scene where Ariel and Eric are taking a
boat ride. All the sea creatures try to set the mood so Eric can kiss Ariel. Without that kiss Ariel will
lose her voice forever and her true love. This scene proves once again how women are incomplete
without men, that they need a hero and prince charming to save

Public Mass Shootings And Suicide Bombings On the evening of Friday, 13 November 2015, a massacre including of public mass shootings and suicide bombings occurred in the capital of France, Paris. The attackers killed 130 people and wounded 368 serious injuries. Just 10 months previous, on January 7, 2015 two terrorists attacked Charlie Hebdo, an office of a Parisian satirical magazine. They killed eleven and wounded eleven people. During the attacks in Paris, no one victim was armed. They didn t have any chance to defense for themselves. When police arrived, it was too late to save the innocents. The world today is full of dangerous with terrorism, criminals, mass shootings, and so forth. We re not safe from anything. Today, I am going to tell you about the right to carry concealed gun and why we need it. I have researched both sides of this controversy, and the need to carry concealed gun is the stronger argument. According to Deborah Homsher, author of Women Guns: Politics and the Culture of Firearms in America, when states passed the laws which give adults the right to carry concealed guns if they don t have a criminal record or mental illness, the number of multiple victim shootings declined by 84 percent (265). Furthermore, a 2015 report from the Crime Prevention Research found that the number of concealed guns permits has soared, growing from 4.6 million in 2007 to over 12.8 million in 2014 (6). • 6. Overview Of Artificial Neural Networks Introduction Artificial neural networks are a class of computational structures (Lesk, 2013) made up of several processing elements, called artificial neurons that are connected and organized in layers (Larder et al., 2007). They are capable of generating models for the detection of non linear functions(..). Their algorithms are extensively applied in biology and medicine to solve complex problems, more specifically for prediction or classification of solutions or to refine methodological aspects. (Florence and Balasubramanie, 2010). Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). (Kim et al., 2010). It is a disease in which the body immune system weakens progressively, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Artificial neural networks have been used extensively as a complimentary bioinformatics tool to make approximations of the cleavage site activity and specificity. First uses of ANNs to solve the problem The aim of first research study was to develop a classification model that, given a sequence of eight amino acids, could discriminate between sequences which are either cleavable or uncleavable by the HIV 1 protease. (Kim et al., 2010). The neural learning algorithms used most frequently was back propagation neural networks (BPNNs) (Thomson et al., 2003) because it performs well on prediction problems. (Sibanda and Pretorius, 2012). When BBNN was used for the prediction of the HIV 1 protease cleavage site, it gave a prediction accuracy 92%(Thomson et al., 2010) However, one of the major disadvantages of using ANNs to analyse biological data referred to the impossibility of most ANNs of recognizing non numerical features like amino acids. Hence an encoding process to model the amino acids was preferable. (Thomson et al., 2003) The advantage of the Bio basic functional neural networks The peculiarity of this algorithm relates to its ability to recognise amino acids directly. Thus, avoiding the use of 20 binary bits to represent each amino acid is advantageous. (2003) The prediction accuracy of BBFNN was proved in a research study using 362 HIV protease sequences, where 114 were with cleavage sites and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Common Viral Cold Essay examples My report is on the common viral cold, I would like to go talk about how it is cought, its symptoms and how to cure it as quick as possible. The common cold is cought by coming in contact with some one who has the virus, thus the cold is cought through direct contact, from one infected person to the next, or from, Being in side in the winter time with the heater on all the time, the lack of air flow is a great place for air born particles to sit and rest up the heaters on only move the virus around more. The best way to avoid catching the cold is not to shake hands with a person who has a nasty habit of picking their nose, because the virus then gets on there hands, and is spread from them to you in all the happy hand shaking that goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The virus had the capacity to mutate, so due to the fact that it mutates frequently our bodies find it difficult to recognize it and it takes longer to fight the infection. Recovery from the cold is fairly simple, stay warm (not hot) Get lots of fluids and rest. Wait the cold out it should go away in 5 to 7 days, if the symptoms worsen or drag out for ever then go see a doctor, it might have turned into an upper respiratory infection, which is quite nasty and painful. Contrary to popular believe over the counter drugs do not do much for the cold, and may only add to your misery by giving stomach pains and drowsiness. Cough drops may ease the coughing and sore through, but be are full, cough drops can become addictive after a few days, and hard candies do the same thing. So use your soar throat as an example to eat your favorite hard candy. As of yet there is no cure for the common cold, due to the fact that it is able to mutate it self when ever it sees fit. But it does provide us with some useful information. Ancient civilizations knew colds as katarrhein, from the Greek meaning to flow down . In the last century however, the term cold or catching cold was blamed on England s cold, damp weather, and this term is now used world wide. Now lets disprove some old wives tales O.K.. • 8. A Thin Film Characterization Technique In vitro results showed that UV C treatment not only improved the cell spreading and attachment, but also it made the cells more metabolically active. UV C effectively removed the hydrocarbon contaminants and exposed the TiO2 on the surface, which is a good indication for higher and faster bone to implant contact than hydrocarbon coated implants. Larsson et al. (1996) showed that high degrees of bone contact and bone formation were achieved with titanium implants which were modified on oxide thickness. On the other hand, Aita et al. (2009) revealed that UV induced biological effects could be obtained even on the surfaces of titanium dioxide bulks without depositing additional oxidative titanium or sintering. Ellipsometry, as a thin film characterization technique, was selected because it is non invasive, non destructive, non contacting, and can allow the user to determine several film properties simultaneously (Woollam JA, Snyder PG 1990; Vedam K 1998). Based on this, the tested samples did not undergo any surface modifications by this device. Also, all the work for the crucial thickness measurements (ellipsometry) and the UV C illumination (light source) was done in a HEPA filter protected Clean Room. The total number of particles available for adsorption (in the background) were fewer than 100 condensation nuclei / cc, which met clean room standards for NASA class 100 (Clean Room Fact Sheet, NASA 2016). Cook s experience allowed him to create a program to track Blockbuster s inventory and consumer preferences. This gave the business the competitive advantage of tracking customers movie preferences and customizing inventory per location. Two years later, Wayne Huizenga, founder of Waste Management, and two of his colleagues purchased interest in the company for 18 million dollars. He knew Blockbuster had huge potential because it was a one product business that appealed nation wide. They had lost too many customers to Netflix and decided to drop their late fee in another attempt to gain their customers back. Despite the signs that Blockbuster needed to reevaluate their core competitive strengths, they still believed that people wanted to buy the experience of walking into a store and buying movies. But with e service on the rise, consumers were turning to cheaper, more convenient services. Blockbuster tried to compete with competitors in 2009 by launching movie kiosks and offered customers by mail and digital distribution channels, but Blockbuster was stuck in its ways with the local stores and company overhead. By the end of 2010, Blockbuster filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Profit should be established from customer values. A huge majority of Blockbuster s profit came from late fees. • 12. Culture, Culture And Culture Essay Culture Many times we hear concepts like Oriental culture , Italian culture or Gothic Culture . So we can understand and verify that it is an important concept related to the idea of the society where we live in. Culture, in Sociology, is a concept developed during XVIII and XIX centuries that has had various definitions. One exhaustive definition is in Browne (2015, p. 31): Culture refers to the language, beliefs, values and norms, customs, dress, diet, roles, knowledge and skills, and all the other things that people learn that make up the way of life of any society So when we use the expression Italian culture we know that we are talking about the entire set of believes, knowledge and the whole way of life that characterise Italian people. Something connected to their country but that is with them wherever they go. If they are born in Italy or within an Italian group of people they will speak Italian, they will eat traditional Italian food when they are home, they will be probably Catholic etc. While many concepts inside Browne definition are familiar and easy to identify like language and diet, three of them need a proper explanation for a better understanding of them. Values, Norms, Roles What are values ? The word values is often used in our daily language. When we listen to someone that is talking about her or his values we understand that that person is talking about something that marks out what characterize her/his own concept of what is important, ... Film Contributions of the Sixties Essay Film Contributions of the Sixties Beginning roughly with the release of Stanley Kubrick s Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Stopped Worrying and Loved the Bomb in 1964, and continuing for about the next decade, the Sixties era of filmmaking made many lasting impressions on the motion picture industry. Although editing and pacing styles varied greatly from Martin Scorcesse s hyperactive pace, to Kubrick s slow methodical pace, there were many uniform contributions made by some of the era s seminal directors. In stylistic and visual terms, there is a movement from the three dimensional style of the film s first half to the flatter, more abstract visual style of the Star Gate sequence. The film s movement towards abstraction can be understood both in visual and narrative terms (Falsetto, 115). 2001 s presentation of details from the Dawn of Man sequence, to later space travel scenes are shot with complete conviction and impeccable detail. The viewer believes that the world might have actually looked like what Kubrick presented it as, several million years ago, and the depiction of space travel is just as convincing. The use of models, front projection, the slow editing techniques and camera work all help to create a more complete illusion (Falsetto, 141). If 2001 was presented almost completely objectively, than Kubrick s next film, A Clockwork Orange (1972) was presented almost completely subjectively. In Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza s book, Jesus and the Politics of Interpretation, Fiorenza seeks to break the kyriarchal context in which Jesus is and foster an identity crisis in the scientific self understanding of the Historical Jesus scholarship (Fiorenza 2). Fiorenza, a professor at Harvard Divinity school, specializes in scripture and interpretation from a feminist perspective. She has noticed masculine language which dominates in the construction of the Historical Jesus and attempts to challenge this language to reform the context of the quest for the Historical Jesus so it is all inclusive. Jesus and the Politics of Interpretation is not another book which seeks to describe who the Historical Jesus is; rather, it is a sustained rhetorical inquiry into the scholarly discourses that produce the Historical Jesus as an article of trade and an object of spiritual consumption in the global capitalist market . Before The Sexual Revolution even occurred, people were considered very closed minded and unaware of the possibilities. The traditional norm during this era was establishing sexual intercourse strictly for after marriage. Going against that norm was seen as both shameful and riskful. • 32. Plato s Allegory Of The Cave Analysis The Matrix is a film that delves into many philosophical ideas, one of which is Plato s Allegory of the Cave. In the allegory, prisoners are chained to the cave wall. They cannot move and are only allowed to see the wall in front of them. Behind them is a burning fire, and puppeteers control the puppets that cast shadows on the wall of the cave. The prisoners can only perceive what they see on the cave wall, and their conception of reality is based on this incomplete view, which is an imperfect copy of the real world. However one of the prisoners breaks free from the chains and escapes from the cave. His eyes, used to darkness, are blinded by the sun to the point that he wants to return to the cave. Slowly, his eyes adjust and after much suffering and self realisation the man can finally perceive reality as it actually is. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He realises that the life he has been leading so far is completely manipulated and controlled by the Matrix, protected by the agents (the guards that prevent freedom). However, this truth is difficult for him to accept. Neo is blinded by the Sun s light in the film, he asks Morpheus Why do my eyes hurt? Morpheus replies, Because you ve never used them before. Just like Plato s prisoner, Neo is at first in denial, but eventually realises that the shadows he sees are not the truth, just shadows cast on the wall by the puppets. His eyes get adjusted to the Sun s brilliant light and he sees reality. Another interesting link between Plato s Allegory and The Matrix is that both the prisoner and Neo grow more intelligent and develop new skills. They are in full control of their own abilities. The prisoner in the Cave learns infinite wisdom once he breaks free from the cave. In The Matrix , Neo is able to stop bullets, defy gravity, and possesses superhuman abilities once he accepts the truth and learns to manipulate the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Project Heart Healing Ceremony And Film The Project Heart healing ceremony and film can be described by thinking of it in terms of story types. Annette Simmons suggests various story types that storytellers may choose from when attempting to lead or influence others. Simmons discusses one, the Vision story, in which the storyteller uses sensory detail to express an emotional appeal for a future outcome (14 17). Thus, Leslie asks residential school survivors to share their life experiences with members of their community. She does this because she has a vision that when members of the audience honor the journey of survivors by hearing their testimony, it will help all members of her community to heal. So you see, I think of it as an amazing new beginning, where we open our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also uses her public platform to teach that sharing stories and having them acknowledged and honored leads to a path for healing for those whose voices have been historically silenced. Another leadership story type that Simmons discusses is the Values in Action story, which brings values to life by respectfully instilling [them] in a way that keeps people thinking for themselves (20). Leslie asks the schoolchildren to imagine what it must have been like to be raised in an Indian residential school, stating that the children are the next generation who will walk forward with values and ideals that will change our world and make it a better place (Project Heart). The adults who participated in the ceremony (in addition to those who view it through film) must also face the same question, as well as face their individual and collective values as demonstrated by their response to her poignant inquiry. That is to say, if adults see children acting according to a certain ethical standard, the adults are also likely to choose to follow with their own ethical actions. Finally, Simmons discusses what she names I know what you are thinking stories, in which the storyteller attempts to name the audience s objections as a way of disarming any potential resistance to influence (23 26). Leslie tells the children at the beginning and the end of the Project Heart film that she teaches history from multiple perspectives because she loves Canada. I tell ... • 35. Examples Of Femininity In The Little Mermaid The Little Mermaid: Hegemonic Femininity The transition from a girl to a woman is created by the socially implemented ideals of femininity depicted in commercials, books, and mainly films. One of the famous animated princess Disney films, The Little Mermaid can be easily added to yet another Disney film portraying hegemonic femininity. In the 1989 film The Little Mermaid (Ron Clements, John Musker), a beautiful, young mermaid is willing to make a risky deal with an evil sea witch because she yearns to walk on land and fall in love with a prince, while secretly the sea witch wishes for the mermaid to lose the deal. Ultimately, mermaid ends up achieving her dream of marrying the prince although the evil sea witch tries to destroy the plan. Throughout the fantasy/ melodrama film, the main protagonist Ariel reinscribes the hegemonic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wandering free, wish I could be part of your world, is what Ariel sings as she daydreams of prince Eric. She strongly believes she needs him to be happy and that without him she is incapable of doing so. That is why Ariel takes Ursula s deal, changes her body and sacrifices her voice while leaving her family behind. This validates the hegemonic code of femininity because women are seen as individuals who cannot take care of themselves and are only complete with a man. After the climax, when the deal has been made with Ursula, Ariel finds herself in a difficult situation. With only having three days to get a kiss of true love from prince Eric, she undoubtedly needs Eric s kiss to save her. Getting close to the end of the film, there is a scene where Ariel and Eric are taking a boat ride. All the sea creatures try to set the mood so Eric can kiss Ariel. Without that kiss Ariel will lose her voice forever and her true love. This scene proves once again how women are incomplete without men, that they need a hero and prince charming to save ...
