Resident Officer Next Door Program
The Resident Officer Program of Elgin (ROPE) program is operated out of Elgin, IL (Dempsey
Forst, 2016). The program provides housing to officers in an effort to create safer communities
through working as well as living within areas of distress throughout the city. Currently, there are
four resident officers assigned to the ROPE program (Elgin PoliceDepartment, n.d.). The biography
of each officer has a commonality, they each want to help improve their communities through
getting to know their neighbors. Programs such as ROPE certainly have an impact on community
relations as well as the crimeperpetrated within them.
The Officer Next Door (OND) program began in 1997 under the direction of President Bill
Clinton, offering federally foreclosed homes to officers with a 50 percent discount (Dempsey
Forst, 2016). The homes were located in economically deprived areas throughout the United States.
The program was managed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The program has grown throughout the years since its infancy broadening the available housing as
well as the professions that may apply to the program. The OND program is currently in the Good
Neighbor Next Door (GNND) program through HUD, allowing emergency medical technicians,
teachers, as well as firefighters, to obtain housing at the discounted rate. In exchange for the special
discount, applicants must agree to occupy the home for 36 months (HUD, n.d.).
Resident officer programs are being utilized in other cities across the nation as well, including

Why Are Carbohydrates Important In Living Organisms

Biology P: 5
Extra Credit The nucleic acid is needed in the body to keep our dna. Nucleic acid is a
macromolecule that stores and communicate genetic energy. There are six major nucleotides and it
is made of carbon nitrate, oxygen, phosphorus, and hydrogen. In living organisms there are two
types of nucleic acids called deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid. DNA and RNA in the
nucleic acids bonds into the phosphate of another nucleotide. ATP stores energy in a storehouse
and it could only be used by cells in a variety of reactions. ATP releases energy when the second
and the third phosphate group is broken. Triphosphate is a nucleotide with three phosphate group.
Nucleotides are smaller repeating subunits made of nucleic acids. ... Show more content on

Carbohydrates are composed of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. A formula often used is
(CH2O)ПЂ. Carbohydrates is important because it has a big role of providing energy for
organisms. Disaccharide is when two monosaccharides are joined together and monosaccharides
can also be linked to form a larger one. Disaccharide is the same as glucose as they are both
sugar. Longer carbohydrates are called polysaccharide. When your body needs energy during
physical activities or between meals glycogen is broken down into glucose. Carbohydrates is used
for both living organisms and plants. For living organisms it provides energy but for plants it is
called cellulose and that provides structural support in the cell walls. The cellulose is made up of
glucose chained and linked together. Chitin is the hard outer shell of a shrimp and of lobster.

Theory, Computer Science And Axiomatizations Of Set Theory
Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory

Abstract
This paper contains the brief introduction of Set theory which included the definition, origination,
history and modernization of set theory and mathematical field related to it. The main focus of this
paper will be on the application of set theory in different discipline.
Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory
Mathematics is the study of numbers, and counting, and measuring, but that is only the beginning.
Mathematics involves the study of number patterns and relationships. Set theory is an area of
mathematics that deals with inconceivable numbers, and bottomless concepts such as infinity. The
history of set theory is relatively dissimilar from the history of most other parts of mathematics. Set
Theory was founded by Georg Cantor in 1874 in his paper On a Characteristics Property of All Real
Algebraic Numbers . Naive set theory is fun, and as we saw with Cantor s diagonalization, it can
produce some incredibly beautiful results. But as we ve seen before, in the simple world of naive
set theory, it s easy to run into trouble, in the form of Russell s paradox and a variety of related
problems.
The sake of completeness, Russell s paradox concerns the set R={s | s ∉ s}. Is R∈R? If
R∈R, then by the definition of R∉R. But by definition, if R∉R,

Essay on Theories of Personality
Introversion has the greatest chance of negatively affecting SLA. Students that are afraid of
embarrassing themselves by speaking incorrectly or by not being able to speak at all may try to
avoid opportunities that would otherwise aid their learning (Zhang, 2008). Since 1960, personality
has emerged as major field of specialization among doctoral candidates (Vance Macphail, 1964).
Many investigations have been accomplished followed by literature on a variety of theories of
personality. The importance on individual differences and distinctiveness of the individual are the
most frequent features of the study of personality. There is a guarantee that each person s profile is
different from that of another person and thus, each person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The study can merely be called systematic and scientific when it concerned unbiased observations
that are quantified so that systematic analyses can be performed (Allen, 1990). Dworkin and
Kihlstrom (1978) underlined that the prediction of behavior will be improved by the use of
personality tests. In line with this, many personality inventories with certain extent of reliability
and validity have been developed to aid in the study of personality.
There are essentially two forms of personality tests that can be found in the literature. One of it is
named projective test, allowing an extensive variety of freedom in making response, whereby the
test items are more unstructured, vague or open ended. Example of this is the Rorscharch
Technique (1951). In the meantime another form of test is called the objective test. Objective tests
are extremely structured paper and pencil questionnaires such as true/false or multiple choices,
each of which can be scored with a key. Sidek personality Inventory is one case of an objective
test. As objective tests are highly structured and scientific, they are higher in validity and reliability
compared to projective tests.
Allport (1936) was the first one who considered the conception of traits as the origin of his theory of
personality. Nevertheless, different psychologists have developed different list of essential traits
and different measurement

Wild Card Game Controversy
My passion is being at stadiums of big games that decide if a team makes it to the playoffs, or if
they make it to the wild card game. I would love to start a sports program where we give the fans
the ability to watch the game how they want to want to watch it. Every fan has seen at least one
game when the commentary was biased against your team. Every fan has seen at least one game
where they wouldn t show a replay that, in your eyes, was a controversial play. The program I want
to start will help elevate all of those problems. I want to start a program where we have three
different versions of the same game. One version has a commentary biased toward the home team,
one biased toward the visiting team; the last is a non biased commentary.

My Barroom Observation
In lieu of having the opportunity to measure a tall object, I decided that it would be interesting
to know the height of my barn because it was never identified. There are few steps to finding
how tall an item is, however, it is quite difficult to be completely accurate with the objects that I
utilized. First, I needed to build a clinometer with a straw, protractor, and string, which was used
to find the angle of elevation. The angle of elevation is the angle formed by a horizontal line and
a line of sight to a point above the line (Rehill), and in this specific scenario, the point is the top of
the barn. Furthermore, I then measured the distance from the barn to where I was standing and
looked, through the straw, to the top of it. I had to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the answers that I got are reasonable because they do not seem too small and they are
quite average for an one and a half story building. Nevertheless, the height of the barn might be
inaccurate because errors could have a drastic impact on the final answer. To illustrate, the
measurements are the basis for the whole entire problem by reason that trigonometric ratios place
primary importance on them, so, therefore, if they are incorrect, then all of the resulting numbers
will be wrong. I struggled with obtaining the appropriate angle measurements because I had
problems with pinching the string at the correct place and viewing the necessary spot through the
straw. Also, if the calculations were amiss, then it would produce false numbers, which causes the
final answer to be off due to the legitimate figures not being incorporated. I had a problem with
this also as I did not set up the correct equations at first, which would give me faulty calculations
and, consequently, mess up my final answer. However, I quickly figured out that my equations
were incorrect, so, therefore, I did not experience any problems attributed to that exact reason.
Another problem that I faced was with building the clinometer itself due to the protractor being
attached to a geometric template and not aligning the straw correctly, but I just used my protractor
as there was no effect and I figured out how the straw needed to be

Financing Of Financing And Financing
I. Introduction
Financing methods of enterprises are categorized into the indirect financing and direct financing
depending on whether financial institutions such banks are involved in the financing process. The
indirect financing means financing acquired from financial institutions based on policy funds of the
government or funds formed by the financial institutions themselves. And the direct financing
means capital raising through stocks or private bonds issued in the capital market. For the last
several centuries, the financial markets have been dominated by the bank centric indirect financial
market. Today, however, the center of the financial market is moving toward the direct financial
market thanks to the development of the financial market. The capital market has become an
essential element not only of financing in the private sector but also of national economic
development, because the scope of financial transactions has expanded by a great deal by means of
securities such as stocks and bonds.
To look into the past stages of the Korean economic development, a bank centric financial system
was maintained at the earlier stages while the banks played the role of a window for capital supply
for the economic development. Later, beginning in the 1990s, the Korean capital market was
opened in a phased manner in the trend of the global financial opening. Then, the Korean financial
system started to be transformed to one centered on the capital market as the opening of

Prince Sports has managed to remain in their field, but the task was not easy. They have been in
business for over forty years and have continued to evolve to fit the needs of the consumers while
also managing to expand their products. In doing so, they have needed to keep their company
ahead of trends that have occurred in the market. So far, they have managed to do so, but with the
continuously changing market and economy, Prince Sports needs to constantly be performing
research on how to stay ahead. They also have to take in to consideration how these changes are
going to affect the products and customers they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same can be said for trends and products. They have witnessed what a mistake it is to ignore
their past progress and simply focus on what is next. While it is important to spend a great deal of
time working towards advancement, especially in a market that is rising. However, it is very
difficult to ignore what brought about all of these changes and what has been working (Kerin,
Hartley amp; Rudelius, 2013).
Another challenge that they may face includes economic changes. Since, Prince Sports markets
their product internationally, they need to pay attention to the economies of all the countries they
distribute to. Significant changes in an economy can greatly change their customer base and needs
resulting in new marketing tactics having to be put in place (Benoit amp; Gleason, 2012).
Prince Sports can stay ahead of the changes they possibly face if they keep in mind when Linda
Glassel said It s learning, it s studying, it s talking to people who understand where the market is
going (Pg. 241). In order to stay ahead and take on any challenges that come their way, they need
to employ research methods that can help them solve their problems and come up with new ideas
for marketing their products. Besides using the Five Step marketing approach, there are specific
aspects they should pay close attention to. As a part of step three, they need to collect data, both

The War With Great Britain For Their Independence
The year is 1775 and the American Colonies are at war with Great Britain for their Independence.
The Continental Congress would soon sign an article into law, which would authorize the
construction of the Navy of the United Colonies of North America. Article 16 of this bill stated
that A convenient place shall be set apart for sick or hurt men, to be removed with their
hammocks and bedding when the surgeon shall advise the same to be necessary: and some of the
crew shall be appointed to attend to and serve them and to keep the place clean. The cooper shall
make buckets with covers and cradles if necessary for their use. Little did they know that this would

Jap The Meiji Restoration In Medieval Japan
The Meiji Restoration was a timeline of events all leading up to the change of Japan. It had military,
social, cultural and economical changes that evolved Japan to become a world power. This Meiji
Restoration timeline of events occurred from 1868 until 1912 and was a very influential and
important time for medieval Japan. The ruler during this period, Emperor Meiji, changed the entire
way that Japan was run and how the people were led and influenced. Japan gradually became an
overall world power with the events that were implemented during this period. The Economy
changed during the Meiji period due to the government investing money into public works such as
railways, communication, shipping, ports and lighthouses. The Meiji leaders also invested money
into a high percentage of national revenue in importing Western technology and expertise in setting

Millions of people were suddenly free to choose what they wanted to do in life and move about
without any restrictions. By including a new and improved environment of political and financial
security the Government made an investment in the new technology. This was also very
expensive, so in 1880 the Government decided to sell most of these industries to private
investors then encouraging such activity through subsidies and other incentives (Nussbaum L.F

They went on this journey to enable Japan to quickly catch up in the terms of life. The bank of

Lack Of Success Between 1815 And 1848
Italian Nationalism s lack of success between 1815 and 1848 stemmed from four important reasons,
the main factor for lack of success was the Austrian Empire but was however not the only factor.
Other factors preventing Italian nationalism were, lack of national identity, divisions amongst the
nationalists and the church.
During 1815 and 1848 the Austrian rule within the Italian peninsula was brutal and repressive. The
Italian language had been banned in public life. Signs, law courts, newspapers and schools all had
to be in German the language of the Austrians, throughout regions directly ruled by Austria there
was also a network of spies and informers listening to peoples business to imprison suspected Italian
nationalists some of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pope feared Italian nationalism as he didn t want to lose control over the states of the church
and also the money the church created through taxation and pilgrms. The pope also opposed Italian
Nationalism as he felt sympathetic towards the Habsburgs and the Bourbons as they were the rulers
of southern Italy and the two most powerful royal families in Europe and he did not wish to
weaken them by supporting Italian Nationalism. The pope feared what he called a civil war the
Austrian Habsburgs, Spanish Bourbons and Italian Nationalists all followed the Catholic religion,
the pope would not condone a Nationalist Revolution in which Catholics killed Catholics.
furthermore the pope was a very conservative individual, therefore feared new ideas and social
change such as liberalism and socialism. the pope feared that Italian nationalism would lead to the
church being persecuted like it had been in the French revolution and because of this the Catholic
church in Italy threatened to ex communicate any Catholic found to be a member of any Nationalist

Mucopolysaccharidosis Type II, also called Hunter Syndrome, is one of eleven types in a group
of rare genetic lysosomal storage disorders called Muchopolysaccharidoses or MPS. (Lorena

solutions for this is a way to offer relief for family and caregivers. (Jane Roberts, 2016) Things

(Jane Roberts, 2016)Parents can make sure the patient has a safe area by using soft furniture
and having toughened glass in the windows. (Jane Roberts, 2016)Also placing the patient s
bedroom and bathroom down stairs and utilizing baby gates. (Jane Roberts, 2016) Making sure
the patients bedroom is very dark, having a sleep schedule, padding their bedroom walls and
placing a mattress on the floor will help prevent an injury. (3C) Sometimes surgery is necessary
to gain relief for some symptoms of Hunter syndrome. (Health, 2016) Patients may have their
adenoids or tonsils removed if they are suffering from spleen apnea or breathing problems.
(Health, 2016) Another way to help with the patients breathing problems is to do oxygen therapy
or use a CPAP.(2) A CPAP is a continuous positive airway pressure device that puts air into the
patient s airway to keep it open improving lung volume. (2) The patient may also need a thin tub
inserted to drain fluid from their brain if the buildup gets too high. (2) Another treatment for
Hunters syndrome is Enzyme replacement therapy. (8) It is used to reduce the progression of
Hunter syndrome. (8) The earlier the Enzyme therapy is given the more effective it will be. (3C)

Imperialism In World History
Imperialism is a major part of world history. It has created borders, wars, and nations with its
ideas and actions but many people do not know what it was or how it shaped the modern world. It
also brought a darker side of humanity that crushed many lives and cultures. So what is
imperialism, why did it make people inhumane, and what is its impact on world history. The term of
Imperialismis the seizing of a weaker country by a stronger country. This means that strong
countries like Britain, France, and other european countries could set up colonies or controle native
people to do their work for them. The main drive for imperialism is that colonies create wealth for
the mother country. Many european countries needed raw materials for industrialization back in the
mother country. Places like Africaor India were taken and controlled to extract the raw materials
from the area for cheap labor. Another reason for the building of colonies was for strategic

were in Africa. Many of the people who were controlled in Africa became slaves and were forced
to farm cash crops. Resources were plentiful in Africa and it was a mad dash to control the most

Jason Vs Medea
Through the interactive orals, I gained a better understanding of Euripides Medea, finally able to
better comprehend why the work has survived over 2000 years. I can now appreciate how
Euripides modified the original myth, humanizing Medea as a much more likeable character with
justifiable actions. Euripides version made Jason out to be much more of a villain than the Greeks
were used to. Through his adjustments, I can recognize how unique of a femalecharacter Medea was
for her time, and in many ways, how groundbreaking she was. Medea was aggressive and strong,
constantly willing to speak up for herself. She was one of the few three dimensional human women
in Greek writings, and Medea displayed her multifaceted nature in many ways.

The Jacobin Uprising
Within the new French Legislative Assembly, the onetime allies turned political rivals the
Girondins and the Jacobins competed for power. Both began in favor of a French republic, but
differed in their methods of obtaining that goal. The Girondins favored a slower peaceful path to
abolishing the monarchy, which the radical Robespierre referred to as ineffectual (Robespierre
1910). The Jacobins favored the swiftness of violence (Ibid). Following the suspension of the
monarchy, National Guardsmen were sent to prisons across Paris searching for traitors, (McPhee
2012). Anyone adamantly pro revolution was deemed against it by the radical Jacobin group known
as the Mountain.

Lenin s cries for the Soviet to seize control of the government were therefore intended mainly to
arouse indignation in both the Provisional Government and in his less radical Soviet allies
(Ibid). Accordingly, although Lenin arrived in Petrograd in April 1917, the violence marking his
rise to power did not begin until mid June (Ibid). The Provisional Government s latest attack
against Germany was a military disaster and the army refused to follow further orders to the front
(Riordan 1964). Soldiers and laborers alike started violent protests, demanding all power to the
Soviets, (Ibid). Lenin and the Bolshevik party disowned the violence and the protests stopped
shortly thereafter (Ibid). Nevertheless, Lenin was forced to flee the country while Leon Trotsky
was arrested for the violent revolts which marked the July Days (Wade 2000).
During the French Revolution, violence once again marked a distinct change in tone. The final

The Decree essentially criminalized opposition to the Nazi party, calling for the expulsion of all
Communist parliament members, shutting down any anti Nazi presses, and forcing the Communist

Justice System In Robert Louis Stevenson s Just Mercy
In the first half of Stevenson s Just Mercy, he depicts this almost binary system within his
experiences in the justice system: a majority class and a vulnerable class, with a few outliers in
between. The majority class operates for those in power and actively against the vulnerable. By
attacking the vulnerable, it performs as almost a fuel for those within the system who have
ambition to ascend its ranks. For example, by Alabama using elections to select its judges (70), this
allows the system to uphold the desires and opinions of those in the majority, without any checks
and balances on the equity of the system and its integrity to the law. The system, in a sense,
becomes an arm of the majority, not an institution grounded in equitable justice

When it comes to juicer market, not all can be compared or compete with master brands like
Breville and Cuisinart. They have established and proved what their products are capable of. The
amount of spend on a juicer, must have a direct correlation with the benefit derived out of it.
Factors like large usage period, better quality and quantity of juice and ease of maintenance need to
be considered before purchasing a high quality juicer. For those who require all the above
mentioned criteria, Hurom HU 100 slow juicer would be an ideal choice.
The Hurom slow juicer performs functions similar to other juicers available in market. However,
the real benefits are actually hidden. Most of conventional juicers have a very high RPM (rotations

By taking a look at the user reviews, it is obvious that Hurom has found a place in hear of
customers. One positive review stated by a customer shows how easy it is to clean this device.
While other branded juicers require some skill and effort to dis assemble and clean, Hurom can
be assembled and disassembled effortlessly. No diagrams or manuals are required to do this.
Another positive review proved the blade effectiveness. To break Almonds without soaking it
overnight is tedious. But Hurom does this effectively for morning milk with its effective blades.
The fineness of crushed almond portrays the outstanding quality of Horum slow juicers. Above all,
the lowest noise levels are a strong point. Compared to other available juicers, Horum HU 100
makes very less noise while juicing. Even with wheat grass, Horum does an efficient job which
customers cannot expect on juicers from top most or reputed brands.
Some of the common complaints on Horum are blade jamming. This is a situational defect. If
the customer tries to push the consumables too hard before it is crushed, then the blade would be
jammed. If the eatables are very hard, then users might need to cut it down to smaller pieces to
make the blade to rotate freely. However, this is not a fault with Horum juicer. Occasional breaks
can happen, which can be tackled by filing warranty claims. Breaks are very rare and do not tend
to happen frequently. This case is the same even for

Israel is a small democracy at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea, with a 2016 population
of 8.17 million, of which, 74.8 percent is Jewish; most of the rest of Israel s population is Arab.
The term Arab denotes persons descended from tribes inhabiting the Arabian Peninsula or persons
speaking the Arabic language. By this definition, there are about 250 million Arabs worldwide,
most found in the group of countries occupying North Africa and the western part of the Middle

Israel then declared its independence on 14 May 1948; it was quickly recognized by the United
States, the Soviet Union, and many other countries. The new nation of Israel was also immediately
attacked by neighboring Arab states. Israel prevailed in the conflict and, in the process, secured
more territory for itself than had been stipulated under the UN partition plan. More than seven
hundred thousand Palestinians remained displaced after the war, and were considered refugees.
They settled in camps in nearby Arab nations.
Central to the ongoing Arab Israeli conflict is the question of Palestinian statehood. Palestinians
refer to their departure from Israel as the nakba or disaster. The refugees and their descendants, the
Palestinians, today reside in the coastal Gaza Strip to Israel s south and along the west bank of the
Jordan River, to Israel s east.
In 1949, the UN arranged a ceasefire in Israel, setting a boundary around it known as the Green
Line. In 1967, during the Six Day War fought between Israel and the combined forces of Egypt,
Jordan, and Syria, Israel s victory enabled it to extend its borders beyond the Green Line, into the
Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and begin building settlements there. These areas are known as the
Occupied Territories. Many Palestinians, Arabs, and others view the Israeli occupation of the

The Impact Of Technology On Education
On a daily basis, both businesses and individuals rely on technology. It cannot be denied that
technology has become part of our everyday life. As individuals, we all depend on technology,
either for education, health purposes, transportation, communication, romantic relationships, and/or
business growth . It is impossible to explore how each advancement in technology has impacted
our lives as well as how it will impact the future, but we can briefly explore the major
advancements. Technology impacts the environment, people individually, and the society as a
whole. As we navigate through the 21st century, technology in the classroom is becoming further
predominant. iPads are replacing our textbooks, and we can research any desired topic on our
smartphones. The impact that technology has had on today s schools has been utterly momentous.
Educators have now seen firsthand the numerous benefits of technology in the classroom.
According to a study by IT Trade Association CompTIA, around 75 percent of educators have
come to the conclusion that technology has a positive impact on the education process. Educators
have also recognized the significance of developing these technological skills in students so they
will be prepared to enter the workforce after they graduate (Cox). By incorporating technology in
the classroom, teachers are setting our students up for a successful life outside of school. The
increase of technology has even changed how teachers teach along with how

Intimate Partner Violence Case Study
Is there a difference in decision making on parental care between abused and non abused women
attending MCH services in Melbourne.
Project aims and significance
Intimate partner violence (IPV) has been recognised as an issue which needs to be addressed due to
its negative consequences on health of individuals. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) as any act between intimate relations which results into physical,
emotional, sexual trauma or any other form of restriction or isolation from family and friends
which can lead to undesirable health outcomes (Organization, 2012). Violence do exists between
intimate partners with women becoming more victims than men (Hall, Chappell, Parnell, Seed,
Bewley, 2014). In Victoria, it had accounted for 7.9% of overall disease burden among women of
reproductive age (Vos et al., 2006). According to WHO global report on violence, more than 35%
of women experience both physical and sexual abuse by intimate partners which represents a large

The Importance Of Human Relationship For Both Kai And Tamili
1)The duty to protect the well being of Kai versus importance of human relationship for both Kai
and Tamili. I chose this as the ethical problem because it seems as though Kai could use some
help with her well being. She has a lot on her plate with being in a strong recovery from bi polar (I)
disorder, her husband being deployed for the four time to Iraq, she has had suicidal ideationtwo
within the past month, trying to take on a new job as a principal, and in sessions she becomes
stressed very easily and shuts down. I ve noticed when Kai gets stressed in family session Tamili
will get very angry. Kai being stressed could be causing Tamili to act out in school and receive
bad grades. This is why I chose the importance of human relationship as the other problem. Kai
and Tamili have bonded very well but with Kai being so stressed lately it could be affect Tamili s
performances at school. Tamili has been bulling others at school, has low grades, and is being very
disrespectful to her teachers.

The Effects Of Television On Our Health
Jacoby stated in his article Silent that Idiot box that letting your children watch too much television
can ruin them in the long run. Television has the ability to lead children to violence and destroy
their innocence. Television can be pleasing to the eye. According to Jacoby children don t become
educated from watching TV. The more TV they watch, the less educated they usually end up. I
agree with him because when I use to watch televisionI would feel extremely sluggish and not want
to do anything else. Watching television can have some effects towards your overall health. It also
can lead to bad habits and prevents you from having a better outlook on life around you.
Watching too much television can have a serious effect on one s motivation and abilities to
interact with the outside world. For example, Scarface is about Gang related activities and Drug
abuse and is very aggressive. It can be so engrossing. It can make a child wonder what his life
would be like if he was in the main character s shoes. If parents watch a violent show or movie with
their young children around, the children will have problems. They will develop learning
difficulties and have trouble paying attention in class. Not communicating with your friends and
family is also a health problem, a person could get depressed, have social anxiety, or become
delusional. People can even become sleep deprived.
What normally happens when you watch television? You usually stay there dazed for many of

Savagery is a part of every person and is the doom to all civilizations. In Lord of the Flies a group
of boys have a plane crash and land on a deserted island. Amidst trying to survive, the boys have to
fight not only each other but the environment as well while trying to relieve themselves from their
inside emotions. In chapter nine is where the intense emotion flow out and where Simon, who finds
the true nature of the beast, wants to caution the others, so he comes from the mountain to try and
warn them. Meanwhile, on the beach, Jack s tribe plus Piggy and Ralph hold a pig roast and a

thinking the beast was something you can hunt and kill!. You knew didn t you? I m part of you?
Close, close, close!I m the reason why it s no go? Why things are what they are? (Golding 143).
The Lord of the Flies is talking to Simon saying that the beast is the evil inside us all. Simon
realizes that the beast is not actually real but rather within us, but when he tries to tell the rest of
the boys this, they murder him. Only the beast lay still, a few yards from the sea. Even in the
rain they could see how small a beast it was; and already its blood was staining the sand (153).
Simon represents the goodness and saintliness of the boys and of mankind in general, and
slaughtering him is killing off the good, leading to more savagery and an even weaker civilization.
The realization that the beast isn t real is killed when Simon is. No one realized who or what
they were killing because they were so driven by the fear of the beast and saw something, went

The Germ Theory Of Modern Medicine And Vaccines
Morgan Brewer
Mrs. Canuette
H. English III
10 November 2015
The Germ Theory The germ theory is crucial in the development of modern medicine and
vaccines. It states that many diseases are caused by the presence of specific microorganisms
within the body and that infectious diseases caused by infectious agents. It was a theory developed
in the middle 1800 s, by Louis Pasteur, Robert Koch, and Joseph Lister. This theory still underlines
contemporary bio medicine. It s responsible for the reduction in the numbers of infectious diseases.
The development of the theory eliminated environmental, diet, and climate influence on disease.
The germ theory is closely associated with existing ideas about health, hygiene, and sanitation. It
encouraged the reduction of disease to simple interactions with microorganisms and their host. The
development was largely initiated largely by the Industrial Revolution. Infections and disease have
been the biggest challenge to human health. This theory is also known as the Pathogenic Theory of
Medicine. It revolutionized medicine, understanding diseases, and the microorganisms that cause
them. Infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses,
parasites or fungi; the diseases can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another
(World Health Organization). They evolve from four main different types of germs. These are
viruses, bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. Bacteria are single celled

Over the years at work I have noticed that disruptive behavior of students is a big challenge and a
frequent problem that teachers have to address in their classrooms. For those who are involved in
education know that teachers on a daily basis have a high amount of demands like improve test

often with minimum resources and support. Consequences of several national Gallup polls

How The Ming Dynasty, Incan Society, And Tenochtitlan Society
Throughout unit two we looked at many different societies, not in Europe. While there were many
influential civilizations in Europe during this time, there was also many civilizations making major
advancements as well. There were three things that really caught my eye and these were the Ming
Dynasty, Incan Society, and Tenochtitlan, the Aztec
capital. While all of these may seem different,
they have influenced how we live our life today somehow.
I.The Ming Dynasty
The Ming Dynasty ruled China from 1368 to 1644 (Morris). The Ming Dynasty was established
by King Zhu Yuanshang, who named the dynasty not after Nohis family but the word ming
which can mean bright or luminous ( The Chinese Ming ). It had a population around eighty five
million making it the largest civilization on Earth. As Professor Clunas points out in the
exhibition s exemplary catalog, everything about it was on a grand scale: It had a greater land
area, bigger cities (and more big cities), bigger armies, bigger ships, bigger palaces, bigger bells,
more literate people, more religious professionals. (Morris). Not only was the Ming Dynasty
bigger, it brought many major advances in art, technology, and philosophy during its time.
Probably one of the most popular art forms, is the amazing work they could do with blue and
white porcelain. They were very skilled in this new art form, and were the only civilization that
could make these beautiful pieces. Still to this day, it is hard for anyone

Lynching, Frederic Douglas and Black Women in Society
Can t believe it s already over. I know I didn t say much but I can honestly say I m grateful and I

events and people in this class, but these five subjects were so far my favorites.
Lynching
Lynching, I would have to said was one of the most interesting and disturbing topics we have
talked about. The word lynching came from the name Charles Lynch who was an owner of land
in Virginia in 1790. Charles would hold illegal trials of people who would steal, cheat, basically
break the rules in his front yard. Charles would hang the victims and hang and tied them to a tree
in front of his home. Lynching is unlike from any other murders because it s committed outside the
boundaries by a mob of white people wanting to achieve against blacks for whatever blacks did
which was nothing. In the19th century, lynching frequently enjoyed the approval of the public.
Lynching had become an event, where people from different towns would come and watch an
African Americans get lynched. It is a practice that was committed, for white people to show there
were more superior to African Americans. In the late,

Stereotypes Of Women In Sports
Though being athletic and masculine have been a man s physical description, women have
fought to prove those gender stereotypes wrong. Women have been defeating the odds of
athleticism and masculinity that men realized, but wanted to hide and not appreciate their work.
Through time men and women have made an effort to come together to bring attention to the
downgrading of women in sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has
described men and women s sports as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds
yet again. Women participating in athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of
women playing ball dates back to 800 BC in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s,
women never had the luxury of sports classified for women specifically. Multitasking was a high
concern. People thought that each person had a set amount of energy and multitasking would
deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that individual. Women were highly
encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their selves so quickly to avoid harm
to their body. Doctors of this time believed this over exertion could damage reproductive organs,
decrease fertility rate, excessive stimulate emotions to the extent of a nervous breakdown, and even
bizarre as decrease in a womans sexual inhibition if she excessively indulged in sports (Cahn par.

Religious Conflict Of Dante s Inferno
Jessica Gay World Literature Dr. Schott 9 November 2014 Religious Conflict in Dante s Inferno
Critics Daniel Tompsett and Donald Winchester and literary scholar Nicole Rudick have argued
that Dante s Inferno is a dark and hopeless telling of how we are all relegated to sin and lack the
will or righteousness to turn from sin and temptation. Tompsett and Winchester state that, The
placement of living figures in each section was a judgment and a condemnation, albeit
subjective, on both history and the people he knew (Tompsett). They both agree that Dante is
painting a picture of the dredges of society and the torture that they must endure as a result of
their inability to turn from sin. They also quote scholar David H. Higgins to say that Dante
arguably believed he was writing a gospel to convert his recalcitrant age (Tompsett). Scholar and
critic Nicole Rudick confirms this portrayal of dismal hopelessness with her comment, Dante
created a rigid view of good and evil, showing no mercy for those who did not repent during their
lifetimes and sparing no one in his accounting of misdeeds, vice, immorality, and generally
inappropriate comportment (Rudick 29). It is my opinion that the aforementioned scholars and
critics are missing Dante s point. When I read the poem I am overcome with quite the opposite
view. I believe that a better way to interpret Dante s poem is to consider that he was asking each
of us to reflect on our waywardness and sin and to come to the

Causes Of The 1962 Rebellion Essay
The rebellion occurred on 8th December 1962 during the ruler of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa
adul Khairi Waddien. It involves the first nationalistic party in Brunei named Partai Rakyat Brunei
(PRB), which led by Sheikh A.M. Azahari and the rebellion led by their illegal armed forced, which
to be known as North Kalimantan National Army or Tentera Nasional Kalimantan Utara (TNKU)
the commander, Jassin Affandy.. According to Harun Abdul Majid (2007, p.36), the revolt occurred
due to the issue whether or not Bruneito join Malaysia, which to be known as Malaysian Plan.
Furthermore, the 1959 constitution can also be the reason for the outbreak of the 1962 rebellion.
This is because Dayang Noralipah (2010, p.163) illustrated that Partai Rakyat Brunei (PRB)
reflects the dissatisfaction towards the 1959 constitution. However, Harun Abdul Majid stated that
the 1962 rebellion was also because of the formation of Malaysia, but also due to another reasons

The Overview of Culinary TourismA variety of terms have been used to express the relationship
between food and tourism: culinary tourism, cuisine tourism and gastronomic tourism. To indicate
the definition of those words, cuisine is defined as style of food preparation in effect, styles of
cookery. Cuisine does not mean for cooking only but applying to other activities in the scope of
culinary includes ingredients, prepared foods, beverages, food production, motivations, activities,
institutional structures, and tourism. Culinary as the adjective form of cuisine means kitchen in
Latin (culina). This term seems to be focused on the actual practice (e.g. culinary utensil )
denotes styles of food preparation and consumption as well as the social context in which food is
acquired and prepared for sharing (Ignatov Smith, 2006, p.237 238). Gastronomy is involved in
the enjoyment of good food and beverages as a part of an affluent or aesthetically superior lifestyle

Name Change Research Paper
The conversation surrounding the Redskins name change is as controversial as who was elected
for President in November. In short, the argument for the name change rests on perceived racial
slurs, while those against a name change argue it would violate the constitution. Changing the name
of the NFL team, the WashingtonRedskins, would neglect the word s true meaning, shift the
government s role towards monitoring political correctness, and violate the Constitution itself.
The controversy started around 1972, when Edward Bennett Williams was part owner and many
ethnic backing groups were in their inception. The name has been an issue for more than half the
team s existence. Since 1972, many Native Americans have spoken out against the name ... Show

In his USA Today report, Eric Brady states, that most Americans find flag burning, cross burning
and homophobic protests at military funerals deeply offensive. Yet the First Amendment takes out
of the hands of government the authority to channel those majority sensibilities into law and
exercise viewpoint discrimination over such expression, . While Brady may just be reporting on a
court filing, his article brings to light a very strong argument: the government possesses no general
governing power to police offensive or disparaging speech. (Source E) so, the First Amendment
guarantees that the government s opinions will never overpower those of the citizens . Ultimately,
what is at stake here is ensuring we uphold the Constitution of the United States, which sets the

Short Story On Zeta Corvus
Get running!. Sabra yelled. We re not fighting that bear on this narrow path! Isaac and
Malessica, started sprinting with all their might. Gerard followed closely behind them. Sabra
remained in front of them, seeing the glade right up ahead. She rushed towards it, before
looking back at them. Get over here, quickly. She said. Let me take care of it. Malessica and
Isaac arrived at the glade, dropping down to the floor to catch their breath. Once Gerard stepped
into the glades, he turned around quickly. Looking at the bear a golden aura emerged around
Gerard s body. The aura started to form next to Gerard, creating a human like avatar that stood
next to him. Fully forming, the human like avatar looked just like a monk, with typical clothing. It
sported a bead necklace similar to Gerard s and a large gauntlets around it s arms. The monk was

The cinematography of this film is imperative to story improvement, story solidarity, and

The Causes Of Black Power
According to Martin Luther King Jr., Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that . The significance of this quote is to end
racism with non violence. There are many important people that support the claim of black
power paved the way for African American equality and civil rights. For example, Margaret
Garner, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr. were all influential in the fight for black power.
Black Power is a political slogan aimed at achieving self determination for people of African
descent. Martin Luther King Jr. was the most important voice of the American civil rights
movement and the Black power movement, which both worked for equal rights for all. He was
famous for using nonviolent resistance to overcome injustice similar to Gandhi. Black power was
necessary for paving the way for African Americanequality, and civil rights that African Americans
still fight for today.
Slavery is the practice system of owning slaves. Slavery caused segregation basically the act of
setting someone apart from other people. African Americans were segregated from white people
because African Americans were considered dirty. Slaves were usually bought to work on
plantations. While the slaves were on the ship they were prepared for the auction. The white ship
workers cleaned, shaved, and rubbed the slaves with palm oil to hide sores caused by conditions on
the ship. The captains usually sold their slaves directly

Public Challenges Of The Australian Public Faces
Amidst the information age, the Australian public faces perhaps the defining societal challenge of
the 21st Century, the unprecedented governmental surveillance of metadata. Metadata surveillance
refers to the recent legislation passed in March of this year, which sees compulsory retention of
information by Australian telecommunication corporations, the individualised communications data
of each Australian citizen.
The recent legislation passed encompass an unprecedented surveillance of the masses, which will
result in the creation of a perpetual surveillance state based purely on broad assumptions about
potential terrorists activities. Concerns have arisen due to the proposals that encompass the
compulsory data retention of all Australians telecommunication networks, which entrenches passive
mass surveillance under the undefined concept of metadata. This mandatory retention of metadata
for up to two years allows governmental organisations unprecedented access into the online activity
of all Australians, a subversion of the legal presumption of innocence by treating all individuals as
potential suspects through pre criminal investigation tactics. As a citizen, I believe this policy
embodies the most fundamental violations of human privacy. It is without doubt this bill has
obscured our rights behind a discourse of technological subjectivity, allowing for the creation of a
framework within which rules can be adjusted and expanded through ministerial regulations, the

Plight of the Little Emperors
Amy F.09/14/2014 ENGL 111 In Plight of the Little Emperors by Taylor Clark the article talks
about the difficulties of young children growing up in China. The article talks about how some
mothers who gave up their employment to monitor their children s studies and also go to school
with them, just to make sure their children succeed. Parents even monitor their children s five
plus hours of nightly homework. Children aren t allowed to watch television until the homework
is done. The children s whole future hinged on just one test. It is China s version of the SAT s,

A lot of the children try to escape through on line gaming. They buckle under the pressure at the
universities and stop going to classes. The term depression didn t even exist in China in the 20th
century and there was no vocabulary for it. The children were thought to be anti social. If the
children were depressed they were thought to be impure and they were sent to a labor camp. But
now they have more knowledge about mental health. They have even set up crisis hot lines, and
China is taking steps to take the pressure off young children. After I read this article I disagree a
lot with, I thought I am glad I don t live in China. I think children should be allowed to be
children. I don t think your whole life should depend on just one test. The parents giving up so
much for their children in the hopes of them passing a test just amazes me. Reading this article it
talks about how hard of a life the children have, but what about the parents? They are sacrificing
their whole life on their one child, in the hopes of them succeeding and taking care of them in
their old age, which I do agree with children taking care of their parents when they get older. The
way I was raised, you do take care of your parents when they get older. I disagree with a child s
whole future resting on just one test. That puts so much pressure on children to do well at such a
young age. I can see why children get depressed, if

Ducle Et Decorum Est Essay
Ducle et Decorum est by Wilfred Owen is about what men went through during war. It is written
to exaggerate that war was not a fun and enjoyable event to take part in. This poem certainly
exemplifies how dangerous and harmful the war was. The purpose of the poem is very clear as
it only states the negatives that happened during the war, and addresses the poor conditions that
soldiers went through. The theme of the poem is Wilfred s concerning activities of the war. The
overall message the poet tries to get across to the reader, is that the war was positively advertised
to get young men to go to war. Throughout the poem he tells the story of what it s really like to be
at war. His attitude towards this poem is very dull and disheartened and shows the unpleasant
condition that the troops faced. For example the line knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed
through sludge is a great example of the troops living conditions while at war. Knock kneed
illustrates that the trenches were quite low in height and narrow. Coughing like hags shows that
they were in a dusty and dirty area. We cursed through sludge shows that they had to walk through
areas that consisted of muddy and damp like areas. This one line summarised the poor living
conditions of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He effectively achieved this by using a variety of poetic devices. He used devices such as
similes, repetition. In stanza two, there is a line that says Gas! Gas! Quick, boys! An ecstasy of
fumbling . In this line it has repetition to exaggerate that this message is urgent and serious. This
shows that the war was not a place where you were able to predict everything and so the soldiers
always had to be on alert. However later on in the same stanza it states he plunges at me, guttering,
choking, and drowning . This notifies the reader that if you weren t paying attention or taking
immediate actions, then it could be fatal to your life and even potentially cause

Treatment From Expert Opinions And Case Reports
TREATMENT LEVEL OF EVIDENCE 5 Most of the information we have about PDAP treatment
comes from expert opinions and case reports. Few authors proposed treatment flow charts, based on
the moderate evidence that PDAP represents a neuropathic pain condition. However, these
treatment approaches have never been tested through an experimental study in a PDAP population.
Baad Hansen et al., in a literature review published in 2008, proposed the following stepped
treatment: start with patient education about their condition as it is necessary to avoid further
unnecessary treatments. Treat initially with topical medications (authors suggest capsaicin or
lidocaine) because of limited side effects and safer profile. If paindoes not resolve,... Show more

From our clinical expertise, we discourage the use of opioids, for the potential risk of opioid
induced hyperalgesia (64), dependency and possible addiction (65). Nixdorf et al., suggest to
follow the NICE guidelines (National Institute of Health Care and Excellence) for the treatment
of peripheral neuropathic pain: oral medications, topical when practical and avoid irreversible
treatments that involve local injury (29). We also found treatment suggestions that still need to
be tested in PDAP patients to reach a higher level of evidence. Several authors agree that it is
necessary to avoid unnecessary treatments as they do not have positive outcomes and they may
even worsen the pain (38) (44) (58). Invasive treatments create higher stress to an already
dysfunctional nervous system and this has been observed to increase pain in PDAP patients (66).
Ram et al., report that in their clinical practice they test patients for local anesthetic response in
order to decide for a more central or peripheral therapy (3). This approach can be promising and it
is supported by evidence in the literature of different levels of central and peripheral sensitization in
different patients (34) (37). However, it needs to be tested before arguing its effectiveness. Baad
Hansen et al., point out that the treatment strategy should be flexible, taking into account

Sexual Harassment Essay
Sexual harassment is so ordinary in the workforce that frequently we fail to even recognize
harassing behavior as immoral. This is because so many of us women and men alike have become
desensitized to offensive behaviors. Sexual harassment in any form is unacceptable behavior and
should not be tolerated by anyone. It undermines our ability to study, to work, and to feel like
effective, empowered people in the world.
The U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission describes sexual harassment as a form of
gender discrimination that is in violation of the Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Undesirable
sexual advances, request for sexual favors, and further verbal and physical conduct of a sexual
nature constitutes sexual harassment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to, The Society for Human Resource Management has reported that 62% of companies
offer sexual harassment prevention training programs, and 97% have a written sexual harassment
policy (Sexual Harassment in the Workplace).
Over the last decade the number of grievance filed with EEOC has gradually decreased. For
example, in 1997 approximately 16,000 complaints of sexual harassment were filed. Last year,
the number of complaints dropped to 11,717 which 16.4% of charges were filed by men (Sexual
Harassment Charges). The common of complaints reported to the EEOC came from women;
conversely the quantity of complaints filed by men is ever increasing, along with increasing
numbers of men filing against female supervisors. In 2007, 16% of complaints filed with the
EEOC were filed by men (Sexual Harassment Charges).
Men are increasingly claiming they re victims of sexual harassment and sexual harassment of
men does occur. The first ever court case involving sexual harassment of a man in the workplace
was in 1995. The EEOC sued Domino Pizza after a female supervisor of a male store manager
sexually harassed him and then fired him (Tahmincioglu, 2007). In 1998 a ruling by the Supreme
Court involving a Louisiana man, who claimed he was sexually harassed by his male manager
while working on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, made it clear that men are protected from such
harassment at work under Title VII of the Civil Rights

  • 2. Resident Officer Next Door Program The Resident Officer Program of Elgin (ROPE) program is operated out of Elgin, IL (Dempsey Forst, 2016). The program provides housing to officers in an effort to create safer communities through working as well as living within areas of distress throughout the city. Currently, there are four resident officers assigned to the ROPE program (Elgin PoliceDepartment, n.d.). The biography of each officer has a commonality, they each want to help improve their communities through getting to know their neighbors. Programs such as ROPE certainly have an impact on community relations as well as the crimeperpetrated within them. The Officer Next Door (OND) program began in 1997 under the direction of President Bill Clinton, offering federally foreclosed homes to officers with a 50 percent discount (Dempsey Forst, 2016). The homes were located in economically deprived areas throughout the United States. The program was managed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The program has grown throughout the years since its infancy broadening the available housing as well as the professions that may apply to the program. The OND program is currently in the Good Neighbor Next Door (GNND) program through HUD, allowing emergency medical technicians, teachers, as well as firefighters, to obtain housing at the discounted rate. In exchange for the special discount, applicants must agree to occupy the home for 36 months (HUD, n.d.). • 3. Why Are Carbohydrates Important In Living Organisms Patrick Audish 16 October 2017 Moris Biology P: 5 Extra Credit The nucleic acid is needed in the body to keep our dna. Nucleic acid is a macromolecule that stores and communicate genetic energy. There are six major nucleotides and it is made of carbon nitrate, oxygen, phosphorus, and hydrogen. In living organisms there are two types of nucleic acids called deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid. DNA and RNA in the nucleic acids bonds into the phosphate of another nucleotide. ATP stores energy in a storehouse and it could only be used by cells in a variety of reactions. ATP releases energy when the second and the third phosphate group is broken. Triphosphate is a nucleotide with three phosphate group. Nucleotides are smaller repeating subunits made of nucleic acids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carbohydrates are composed of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. A formula often used is (CH2O)ПЂ. Carbohydrates is important because it has a big role of providing energy for organisms. Disaccharide is when two monosaccharides are joined together and monosaccharides can also be linked to form a larger one. Disaccharide is the same as glucose as they are both sugar. Longer carbohydrates are called polysaccharide. When your body needs energy during physical activities or between meals glycogen is broken down into glucose. Carbohydrates is used for both living organisms and plants. For living organisms it provides energy but for plants it is called cellulose and that provides structural support in the cell walls. The cellulose is made up of glucose chained and linked together. Chitin is the hard outer shell of a shrimp and of lobster. Chitin is a fibrous substance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Theory, Computer Science And Axiomatizations Of Set Theory Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory Prashant Sharma MATH419 D001 Sum 15 American Military University Instructor Mehrdad Mahmoudi Zarandi Abstract This paper contains the brief introduction of Set theory which included the definition, origination, history and modernization of set theory and mathematical field related to it. The main focus of this paper will be on the application of set theory in different discipline. Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory Mathematics is the study of numbers, and counting, and measuring, but that is only the beginning. Mathematics involves the study of number patterns and relationships. Set theory is an area of mathematics that deals with inconceivable numbers, and bottomless concepts such as infinity. The history of set theory is relatively dissimilar from the history of most other parts of mathematics. Set Theory was founded by Georg Cantor in 1874 in his paper On a Characteristics Property of All Real Algebraic Numbers . Naive set theory is fun, and as we saw with Cantor s diagonalization, it can produce some incredibly beautiful results. But as we ve seen before, in the simple world of naive set theory, it s easy to run into trouble, in the form of Russell s paradox and a variety of related problems. The sake of completeness, Russell s paradox concerns the set R={s | s ∉ s}. Is Rв€€R? If Rв€€R, then by the definition of R∉R. But by definition, if R∉R, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Theories of Personality Introversion has the greatest chance of negatively affecting SLA. Students that are afraid of embarrassing themselves by speaking incorrectly or by not being able to speak at all may try to avoid opportunities that would otherwise aid their learning (Zhang, 2008). Since 1960, personality has emerged as major field of specialization among doctoral candidates (Vance Macphail, 1964). Many investigations have been accomplished followed by literature on a variety of theories of personality. The importance on individual differences and distinctiveness of the individual are the most frequent features of the study of personality. There is a guarantee that each person s profile is different from that of another person and thus, each person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study can merely be called systematic and scientific when it concerned unbiased observations that are quantified so that systematic analyses can be performed (Allen, 1990). Dworkin and Kihlstrom (1978) underlined that the prediction of behavior will be improved by the use of personality tests. In line with this, many personality inventories with certain extent of reliability and validity have been developed to aid in the study of personality. There are essentially two forms of personality tests that can be found in the literature. One of it is named projective test, allowing an extensive variety of freedom in making response, whereby the test items are more unstructured, vague or open ended. Example of this is the Rorscharch Technique (1951). In the meantime another form of test is called the objective test. Objective tests are extremely structured paper and pencil questionnaires such as true/false or multiple choices, each of which can be scored with a key. Sidek personality Inventory is one case of an objective test. As objective tests are highly structured and scientific, they are higher in validity and reliability compared to projective tests. Allport (1936) was the first one who considered the conception of traits as the origin of his theory of personality. Nevertheless, different psychologists have developed different list of essential traits and different measurement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would love to start a sports program where we give the fans the ability to watch the game how they want to want to watch it. Every fan has seen at least one game when the commentary was biased against your team. Every fan has seen at least one game where they wouldn t show a replay that, in your eyes, was a controversial play. The program I want to start will help elevate all of those problems. I want to start a program where we have three different versions of the same game. One version has a commentary biased toward the home team, one biased toward the visiting team; the last is a non biased commentary. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Barroom Observation In lieu of having the opportunity to measure a tall object, I decided that it would be interesting to know the height of my barn because it was never identified. There are few steps to finding how tall an item is, however, it is quite difficult to be completely accurate with the objects that I utilized. First, I needed to build a clinometer with a straw, protractor, and string, which was used to find the angle of elevation. The angle of elevation is the angle formed by a horizontal line and a line of sight to a point above the line (Rehill), and in this specific scenario, the point is the top of the barn. Furthermore, I then measured the distance from the barn to where I was standing and looked, through the straw, to the top of it. I had to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, the answers that I got are reasonable because they do not seem too small and they are quite average for an one and a half story building. Nevertheless, the height of the barn might be inaccurate because errors could have a drastic impact on the final answer. To illustrate, the measurements are the basis for the whole entire problem by reason that trigonometric ratios place primary importance on them, so, therefore, if they are incorrect, then all of the resulting numbers will be wrong. I struggled with obtaining the appropriate angle measurements because I had problems with pinching the string at the correct place and viewing the necessary spot through the straw. Also, if the calculations were amiss, then it would produce false numbers, which causes the final answer to be off due to the legitimate figures not being incorporated. I had a problem with this also as I did not set up the correct equations at first, which would give me faulty calculations and, consequently, mess up my final answer. However, I quickly figured out that my equations were incorrect, so, therefore, I did not experience any problems attributed to that exact reason. Another problem that I faced was with building the clinometer itself due to the protractor being attached to a geometric template and not aligning the straw correctly, but I just used my protractor as there was no effect and I figured out how the straw needed to be ... • 8. Financing Of Financing And Financing I. Introduction Financing methods of enterprises are categorized into the indirect financing and direct financing depending on whether financial institutions such banks are involved in the financing process. The indirect financing means financing acquired from financial institutions based on policy funds of the government or funds formed by the financial institutions themselves. And the direct financing means capital raising through stocks or private bonds issued in the capital market. For the last several centuries, the financial markets have been dominated by the bank centric indirect financial market. Today, however, the center of the financial market is moving toward the direct financial market thanks to the development of the financial market. The capital market has become an essential element not only of financing in the private sector but also of national economic development, because the scope of financial transactions has expanded by a great deal by means of securities such as stocks and bonds. To look into the past stages of the Korean economic development, a bank centric financial system was maintained at the earlier stages while the banks played the role of a window for capital supply for the economic development. Later, beginning in the 1990s, the Korean capital market was opened in a phased manner in the trend of the global financial opening. It has created borders, wars, and nations with its ideas and actions but many people do not know what it was or how it shaped the modern world. It also brought a darker side of humanity that crushed many lives and cultures. So what is imperialism, why did it make people inhumane, and what is its impact on world history. The term of Imperialismis the seizing of a weaker country by a stronger country. This means that strong countries like Britain, France, and other european countries could set up colonies or controle native people to do their work for them. The main drive for imperialism is that colonies create wealth for the mother country. Many european countries needed raw materials for industrialization back in the mother country. The worst atrocities although, were in Africa. Many of the people who were controlled in Africa became slaves and were forced to farm cash crops. • 19. Jason Vs Medea Through the interactive orals, I gained a better understanding of Euripides Medea, finally able to better comprehend why the work has survived over 2000 years. I can now appreciate how Euripides modified the original myth, humanizing Medea as a much more likeable character with justifiable actions. Euripides version made Jason out to be much more of a villain than the Greeks were used to. Through his adjustments, I can recognize how unique of a femalecharacter Medea was for her time, and in many ways, how groundbreaking she was. Medea was aggressive and strong, constantly willing to speak up for herself. She was one of the few three dimensional human women in Greek writings, and Medea displayed her multifaceted nature in many ways. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Girondins favored a slower peaceful path to abolishing the monarchy, which the radical Robespierre referred to as ineffectual (Robespierre 1910). The Jacobins favored the swiftness of violence (Ibid). Following the suspension of the monarchy, National Guardsmen were sent to prisons across Paris searching for traitors, (McPhee 2012). Lenin s cries for the Soviet to seize control of the government were therefore intended mainly to arouse indignation in both the Provisional Government and in his less radical Soviet allies (Ibid). The Provisional Government s latest attack against Germany was a military disaster and the army refused to follow further orders to the front (Riordan 1964). Justice System In Robert Louis Stevenson s Just Mercy In the first half of Stevenson s Just Mercy, he depicts this almost binary system within his experiences in the justice system: a majority class and a vulnerable class, with a few outliers in between. The majority class operates for those in power and actively against the vulnerable. By attacking the vulnerable, it performs as almost a fuel for those within the system who have ambition to ascend its ranks. For example, by Alabama using elections to select its judges (70), this allows the system to uphold the desires and opinions of those in the majority, without any checks and balances on the equity of the system and its integrity to the law. The system, in a sense, becomes an arm of the majority, not an institution grounded in equitable justice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Germ Theory Of Modern Medicine And Vaccines Morgan Brewer Mrs. Canuette H. English III 10 November 2015 The Germ Theory The germ theory is crucial in the development of modern medicine and vaccines. It states that many diseases are caused by the presence of specific microorganisms within the body and that infectious diseases caused by infectious agents. It was a theory developed in the middle 1800 s, by Louis Pasteur, Robert Koch, and Joseph Lister. This theory still underlines contemporary bio medicine. It s responsible for the reduction in the numbers of infectious diseases. The development of the theory eliminated environmental, diet, and climate influence on disease. The germ theory is closely associated with existing ideas about health, hygiene, and sanitation. It encouraged the reduction of disease to simple interactions with microorganisms and their host. The development was largely initiated largely by the Industrial Revolution. Infections and disease have been the biggest challenge to human health. This theory is also known as the Pathogenic Theory of Medicine. It revolutionized medicine, understanding diseases, and the microorganisms that cause them. Infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi; the diseases can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another (World Health Organization). With this, history has described men and women s sports as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds yet again. Religious Conflict Of Dante s Inferno Jessica Gay World Literature Dr. Schott 9 November 2014 Religious Conflict in Dante s Inferno Critics Daniel Tompsett and Donald Winchester and literary scholar Nicole Rudick have argued that Dante s Inferno is a dark and hopeless telling of how we are all relegated to sin and lack the will or righteousness to turn from sin and temptation. Tompsett and Winchester state that, The placement of living figures in each section was a judgment and a condemnation, albeit subjective, on both history and the people he knew (Tompsett). They both agree that Dante is painting a picture of the dredges of society and the torture that they must endure as a result of their inability to turn from sin. They also quote scholar David H. Higgins to say that Dante arguably believed he was writing a gospel to convert his recalcitrant age (Tompsett). Scholar and critic Nicole Rudick confirms this portrayal of dismal hopelessness with her comment, Dante created a rigid view of good and evil, showing no mercy for those who did not repent during their lifetimes and sparing no one in his accounting of misdeeds, vice, immorality, and generally inappropriate comportment (Rudick 29). It is my opinion that the aforementioned scholars and critics are missing Dante s point. When I read the poem I am overcome with quite the opposite view. For example, Margaret Garner, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr. were all influential in the fight for black power. Black Power is a political slogan aimed at achieving self determination for people of African descent. Martin Luther King Jr. was the most important voice of the American civil rights movement and the Black power movement, which both worked for equal rights for all. • 50. Public Challenges Of The Australian Public Faces Amidst the information age, the Australian public faces perhaps the defining societal challenge of the 21st Century, the unprecedented governmental surveillance of metadata. Metadata surveillance refers to the recent legislation passed in March of this year, which sees compulsory retention of information by Australian telecommunication corporations, the individualised communications data of each Australian citizen. The recent legislation passed encompass an unprecedented surveillance of the masses, which will result in the creation of a perpetual surveillance state based purely on broad assumptions about potential terrorists activities. Concerns have arisen due to the proposals that encompass the compulsory data retention of all Australians telecommunication networks, which entrenches passive mass surveillance under the undefined concept of metadata. This mandatory retention of metadata for up to two years allows governmental organisations unprecedented access into the online activity of all Australians, a subversion of the legal presumption of innocence by treating all individuals as potential suspects through pre criminal investigation tactics. As a citizen, I believe this policy embodies the most fundamental violations of human privacy. It is without doubt this bill has obscured our rights behind a discourse of technological subjectivity, allowing for the creation of a framework within which rules can be adjusted and expanded through ministerial regulations, the ... • 52. Ducle Et Decorum Est Essay Ducle et Decorum est by Wilfred Owen is about what men went through during war. It is written to exaggerate that war was not a fun and enjoyable event to take part in. This poem certainly exemplifies how dangerous and harmful the war was. The purpose of the poem is very clear as it only states the negatives that happened during the war, and addresses the poor conditions that soldiers went through. The theme of the poem is Wilfred s concerning activities of the war. The overall message the poet tries to get across to the reader, is that the war was positively advertised to get young men to go to war. Throughout the poem he tells the story of what it s really like to be at war. His attitude towards this poem is very dull and disheartened and shows the unpleasant condition that the troops faced. For example the line knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge is a great example of the troops living conditions while at war. Knock kneed illustrates that the trenches were quite low in height and narrow. Coughing like hags shows that they were in a dusty and dirty area. We cursed through sludge shows that they had to walk through areas that consisted of muddy and damp like areas. This one line summarised the poor living conditions of... This shows that the war was not a place where you were able to predict everything and so the soldiers always had to be on alert. Few authors proposed treatment flow charts, based on the moderate evidence that PDAP represents a neuropathic pain condition. However, these treatment approaches have never been tested through an experimental study in a PDAP population. Baad Hansen et al., in a literature review published in 2008, proposed the following stepped treatment: start with patient education about their condition as it is necessary to avoid further unnecessary treatments. Treat initially with topical medications (authors suggest capsaicin or lidocaine) because of limited side effects and safer profile. If paindoes not resolve,... From our clinical expertise, we discourage the use of opioids, for the potential risk of opioid induced hyperalgesia (64), dependency and possible addiction (65). We also found treatment suggestions that still need to be tested in PDAP patients to reach a higher level of evidence. Several authors agree that it is necessary to avoid unnecessary treatments as they do not have positive outcomes and they may even worsen the pain (38) (44) (58). Invasive treatments create higher stress to an already dysfunctional nervous system and this has been observed to increase pain in PDAP patients (66). Ram et al., report that in their clinical practice they test patients for local anesthetic response in order to decide for a more central or peripheral therapy (3). This approach can be promising and it is supported by evidence in the literature of different levels of central and peripheral sensitization in different patients (34) (37). However, it needs to be tested before arguing its effectiveness. Baad Hansen et al., point out that the treatment strategy should be flexible, taking into account ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
