Three Types of Dieters Essay
Beefy, big, blimp, butterball, and chunky all these names are what people are called in today s society,
I believe this is what prompts people to go on a diet. Every day, thousands of people try to lose
weight, but not for all the right reasons, the majority of people want to lose weight with little or no
effort involved; some watch infomercials , see magazine advertisements, music videos featuring fit
and trim women and men. There are several types of dieters; I am discussing three types of dieters.
The dieters who jump on every new diet fad they are called the bandwagon dieter , the promise dieter
is the person who promises him or herself they will really stick to their diet this time. The compulsive
dieter , this type of dieter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is unfortunate, that the bandwagon dieter will seek different medical procedures that are performed
by unskilled and unqualified doctors in and out of the United States to have their dream body. By
utilizing these types of procedures the dieter will go to the extreme to get their dream body, but being
blinded by the result, this dieter doesn t follow all research in thoroughly investigating all medical
procedures and/or doctors. The bandwagon dieter doesn t always do the proper research; this dieter
will endanger their health. The bandwagon dieter is always listening out for the next miracle drug for
weight loss. However, attending a class reunion or purchasing new clothes can be a dieter s incentive
to lose weight, making a decision to lose weight because of an event are very hard to keep, and the
promise dieter attempts to lose weight will result in failure. The promise dieter always starts their diet
on a Monday, that is always the promise and then the promise dieter mistakenly eats something not
healthy or not on their diet list and then all bets are off. The promise dieter is always willing to start
their diet over again. But, before the promise dieter is ready to start their new diet they eat anything
and everything before they start, on their new diet. The promise dieter has several attempts of trying to
lose weight, unfortunately they are unsuccessful. No one is fooled by the

Military Revolution Tactics
The Military Revolution was around the seventeenth century, it was an enlarging role in European
affairs. There was multiple things that changed drastically around the seventeenth century that had to
do with the growth of the military expansion, and tactics to improve the country s ability to fight. A
main reason that was said to cause the Military Revolution, said by the historians, was warfare. Also,
power was a major part that had to do with it. The different techniques that were processed in a short
period of time were the start of the Military Revolution. As a matter of fact, someone that changed the
war tactics in an increasing way was Gustavus Adolphus, which was the king of Sweden. Gustavus
army began something called the salvo which was really different from the way they used to fight,
which was the infantry fired row by row. The salvo was that the rows would fire all at once, so that
caused the opposing squadrons to die in massive amounts. The routine he did was that after shooting
the rivals with his pistol volley, they would then jab the enemies with their blades. Also, they started to
use lightweight fighting equipment to make it easily possible to move, and started to train more, to
start developing better disciplinary actions. Gustavus fighting ... Show more content on

That was usually what the countries would focus about around this time, because they thought that if
your country had the best military skills and preparation they would be one of the best countries. For
that reason many officers were able to get education in military schools. They were getting prepared
and well educated to improve the way that they learned their fighting tactics. That had an effect on the
government and had to change it to something that would fit it since military routines were

BMC Neurology Study
The changes in personality and behavior because of brain damage affect the daily tasks of people that
suffer from brain injury. Everyone behaves differently from others and everyone acts different in
social situations. Our brain is what makes who we are, and the brain also stores all of the information
an individual has learned throughout the years. There has been multiple studies that have found how
complex the brain really is and how our socio cognitive skills helps individuals get through social
tasks, but it may be difficult if an individuals personality changes after brain damage. The socio
cognitive skills is how individuals see and apply information about other people and social situations.
Phineas Gages story shows how drastically our personality can change, if an individual suffers from
brain injury. Phineas Gage was a railroad worker that has an accident ... Show more content on

damage. At the same time, there hasn t been a lot of studies trying to see a deficit of socio cognitive

the brain is related with a deficit in social cognition, particularly in people s emotions. The BMC
Neurology study focuses on the relationship between apathy symptoms and social cognition. The
people involved in this study were to take patients with brain damage by having a wide range, so there
would be a broad sample to see the relationship between apathy and socio cognitive skills. The tests
that were used in this study was divided into three tables that showed the location of lesion, the cause
of the brain injury, and the combination of all the tests that were done on all of the patients. All of the

Persuasive Essay On Olympics
The 2016 Olympics Games are underway. Most of us will not have the opportunity to travel to Brazil
for the thrill of the Games; but we can watch via television and cheer on our Canadian Olympians. As
you anticipate watching your favorite sports why not organize a neighborhood competition of your
own? There are plenty of fun events you could host for your family and friends. Check out the listing
below and pick out the ones you think you will try this summer.
1. Water Cup Racing
What s better during the hot summer months than some good old water games? This one is patterned
after the biathlon. Although a Winter Olympic sport, we have changed this up to be a summer thrill. In

Not everyone is a runner; in fact some might think distance running is boring. However, our Canadian
athletes love to run, whether long distance or short sprints. There are many running events during the
2016 Summer Olympic Games; make sure to tune in to some of the running events as our athletes run
for gold.
In our version of running we are going to pattern it after the Mud Run. Hopefully you won t get as
muddy as the runners in Canada s Mud Run Canada s Dirtiest Trail Run; but you will have fun. The
set up for this race will be best in your garden, an empty patch that is not actively growing something.
Till up the dirt to loosen it up. Spray it down with water to get it good and damp. Divide the group into
two teams to work as a relay. Place a large empty bucket on one end. The teams will start on the end
opposite the bucket. The object is to run carrying a cup of water and dump it in the bucket and return.
The next player in line will do the same. Keep repeating until one team s bucket is full. Water will
obviously slosh out of the cups and make the ground even muddier. End the game by hosing each
other s feet off. This will definitely transform your nice quiet backyard into a fun running track; or

variables must have an interval scale of measurement. Relationships of 1.00 and +1.00 have strong
respective positive or negative correlations. A relationship of zero identifies a weak relationship
between the two variables being analyzed. Primary and Secondary Data Sources The retention of Wal

social security data. Other secondary data was retrieved from similar industry models, internal
databases, and library databases. The secondary data research was to recommend leadership styles
associated with job satisfaction as a means to increase retention. Data was collected from a sample of

Comparing The Poem The Chimney Sweeper
The two poems that I chose to compare are The Chimney Sweeper poem from both Songs of
Innocence and the Songs of Experience.
When my mother died I was very young,
And my father sold me while yet my tongue
Could scarcely cry weep! weep! weep! weep!
So your chimneys I sweep in soot I sleep.
There s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head
That curled like a lamb s back, was shaved, so I said,
Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head s bare,
You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair.
And so he was quiet, that very night,
As Tom was a sleeping he had such a sight!
That thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, Jack,
Were all of them locked up in coffins of black;
And by came an Angel who had a bright key,
And he opened the coffins set them all free;
Then down a green plain, leaping, laughing they run,
And wash in a river and shine in the Sun.
Then naked white, all their bags left behind,
They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind.
And the Angel told Tom, if he d be a good boy,
He d have God for his father never want joy.
And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark
And got with our bags our brushes to work.
Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy warm;
So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm.
The Chimney Sweeper from Innocence, to me, showed just that. Even though these little kids had to
climb up chimney every day and will probably eventually die from it, it ll all turn out fine because as
long as they re good,

Walt s Early Years
On December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois; Walter Elias was born. Walt was one of five children. He
had three older brothers one of which he would later in life be business partners with. Roy and Walt
Disney would eventually be Walt Disney Studios. In 1906 the Disney family moved to a 45 acre farm
in Marceline Missouri. Walt learned about teamwork while working the farm. Disney farm is where he
began to draw animals and nourish his imagination.

Disney met Walter Pfeiffer a boy who shared the same interests as he and who introduced him to
vaudeville and motion pictures. Walt also developed an interest in trains while living in Kansas City.
In 1917 Walt graduated the seventh grade at Benton school when father Elias mother Flora and Sister
Ruth moved to Chicago. Walt at the age of 15 stayed with his brother Herb for the summer, getting a
job selling newspapers and soda pop on the railways. When the summer was over he joined his family
in Chicago where he attended McKinley High School. Walt took drawing and photography and was a
cartoonist for the school paper. He also took courses at the Chicago Art Institute. A lot of his cartoons

The Education Of The United States And China
Modifying Education in the United States and China
Perhaps there is nothing more imperative to the success of a nation today than the education of its
people; developed education leads to innovation, an improved economy, and, possibly most
importantly, a confidence from society about government. The rise of every great nation has been
preceded by advancing education. Although education has been mostly examined from the perspective
of higher education in the past, this lens fails to provide an adequate picture of the average citizen.
Students now attend higher education at larger percentages than they did 50 years ago; nevertheless,
the only mandatory education that a citizen receives is as a minor, under the age of 18. Developed
nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, China s leaders have done a magnificent job, particularly in the last 10 years, of
changing international perception about their international goals and their trustworthiness. More
people around the world have a positive image of China now than they have had in the past 50 years.
The United States, on the other hand, has seen a decrease in their global status since the 1980 s.
Although it remains a Superpower, more and more American citizens believe that their days as a
hegemon are behind them and that their leadership on the world stage is diminishing. This dying belief
in American exceptionalism is a problem for the US. In order to achieve many of its domestic and
international goals, a democratic government needs the support of its people, and if the people decide
they are no longer capable of, or interested in, being the world leader, their position at the top is
unsustainable. In the future, this waning attitude of exceptionalism is likely to change the way that
America interacts with both its allies and its adversaries.
Despite their differences in language and culture, China and the United States actually have many
striking similarities, one of them being that they are two of the most populated countries in the world.
Although the population of China is more than threefold that of the US, both countries understand the
struggle of protecting and providing for an enormous

Bring Back Flogging
Bring Back Flogging This essay by Jeff Jacoby illustrates an authors use of ironic sarcasm otherwise
known as satire to defend and illustrate his platform on his position. Jacoby uses in this essay verbal
irony (persuasion in the form of ridicule). In the irony of this sort there is a contrast between what is
said and what is meant. Jacoby s claim in simple is he believes that flogging should be brought back to
replace the more standard conventional method of the imprisonment of violent and non violent
offenders. His grounds for the revival of flogging stems back to his initial mention of the Puritan
punishment system. He cites how in 1632 Richard Hopkins was Flogged and branded for selling guns
and weapons to the Indians, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All this holds true assuming that public flogging serves it supposed purpose, and the terrible risks of
prison are a confirmed reality. When Jacoby in paragraph three states that today we are more
enlightened than our puritan forefathers where they used flogging we lock wrongdoers up in cages , he
is portraying a method of verbal irony (sarcasm). He continues his sarcastic voice when he lists a
criminal act and states that each punishment seems to be incarceration. His satire of the modern day
justice system is even more noticeable when he claims that prison is the all purpose, all in one
punishment. His final statement of the essay that perhaps the puritans where more enlightened than we
thought contradicts one of his initial statements concluding that we are more enlightened that the
puritans how we cage wrongdoers confirms his satire or verbal irony in his essay. The question arises
toward Jacoby s first reason for flogging. Jacoby s case for the overpopulation and development of
new institutions doesn t find favor in my eyes. Yes, the tax paying American is paying for the prison
system, but he also pays to employ many of the correction officers along with the contractors who
build and restore many of the institutions. Thus the

Factors Affecting The Electoral Elections Of Zimbabwe And...
There are several factors affecting declining electoral turnout in Zimbabwe and South Africa. After
just twenty years of attainment of national independence from United Kingdom, in the year 2000,
Zimbabwe experienced what can only be termed a major setback in its transition to democracy.
Without threat of defeat from opposition parties, the ruling party ZANU PF had enjoyed dominance in
Zimbabwe, where they enjoyed victory after victory in elections. Zimbabwe Parliamentary Elections
of 2000 saw ZANU PF face formidable opposition from the newly formed Movement for Democratic
Change (MDC). However, according to independent observers, extensive electoral fraud and voter
intimidation occurred during this election and ultimately, the MDC won 57 ... Show more content on

South Africa has had overwhelming victories for the ruling party ANC since 1994 when they first
gained freedom from the apartheid regime. According to SA institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) since
2009 most South did not participate in vote in national elections because even if they don t vote things
would stay the same no matter who wins the election while some say they no longer see any party that
is worth voting for. Most people just don t care about going to vote because culturally they think it is
other people who should vote, and not them. They feel that voting is not important in their lives as it
always seems unable change their lives whatever the outcome of the elections. (2) There are cases of
street vendors who have advanced the explanation that they don t have time to go and queue even if
they want to vote, as that may mean possible loss of prospective revenue. (3) Disenchantment. Most
people are just disenchanted with voting especially in Zimbabwe where people have observed
electoral fraud taking place in front of them and the same bad people winning the elections. There is
also a large population in the Diaspora who unable to vote as the Zimbabwe constitution does not
provide for foreign voting which would allow citizens who are outside to be able to vote from outside
Zimbabwe.

provincial elections increased from 14% in 1994

Theories Of Leadership And Leadership Theories
Introduction
In today s world, leaders are not defined by age, race or gender. They can be a high school basketball
coach, the shift supervisor at the local coffee shop, or even the President of the United States of
America. In as many ways that leaders can vary by appearance and responsibility, there is also a
variance in the ways that they lead. This case study aims to compare three of the more popular
theories of leadership. These leadership theories are situational leadership, trait theory and
transformational leadership.
Summary of Theories
Situational leadership, developed by professor Paul Hersey and author and consultant Ken Blanchard.
Their approach was based off of a 1967 article by W.J. Reddin called The 3 D Management Style
Theory. In his article, Reddin discusses the need to have different styles based on the demands of the
leader. A leader needs to be flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the job, their superior and
their subordinates (1967). Hersey and Blanchard progressed this theory by introducing the Situational
Leadership II model. Their model breaks leadership into four different styles, and how a leader must
alter their approach in supporting and directing their subordinates based on a given situation. These
styles are directing (S1), coaching (S2), supporting (S3) and delegating (S4). The model also focuses
on the development level of the subordinates by categorizing them between low (D1), moderate (D2
and D3) and

quickly, so they have to be able to think quickly on their feet. One may become a police officer for the
sense of reward, but it comes with a lot of stress and dangers.
Policeman can have a stressful job and sometimes it gets in the way of their lives away from work.

Without incorporating some type of stress reliever the job may become overwhelming and can lead to
serious health problems. The majority of police officers are men and a small percentage are women.
This field is mostly dominated by men and has been for many years. According to University of San
Diego (2017), talks about how women can have a positive effect in this field. When dealing with sex
assaults the female victim may not want to talk to a male this is where the female police officer may
have a positive impact. Many women who are looking may face a problem with equality when trying
to find a job. Most law enforcement departments are looking for physically fit and upper body strength
and sometimes there is a stereotypes of women being weak; however, that is not always the case.
Studies have found that women can make a positive impact on the community. In the beginning of the
semester we were required to take a career test, my results were that I tested high in public safety. I
think this is true, it goes along with the career that I plan on going into. Taking this test just made me
realize that it is the right career for me.
In conclusion, becoming a police officer is a big decision and is a lot to consider. The job can be
dangerous and come with a lot of stress; however it can be very rewarding. When first becoming a
police officer it may be difficult to adjust to work and home life, but it can be managed.

Qing China And Tokugawa China
For many students around the world, ethnocentrism is a real, serious issue that impedes understanding
and success. One example of how this ethnocentrism invades the minds of the average American and
distorts their thoughts is by asking them to compare different Asian histories or cultures, to which they
will likely reply they re all the same. In addition to being ethnocentric, this viewpoint is just plain
wrong. Take, for example, Qing China and Tokugawa Japan. Though these two Asian empires had
many things in common, they are far from being the same. Qing China refers to the period of Chinese
history between 1644 and 1911, when the foreign Manchus established a dynasty and ruled over
China, calling themselves the Qing. The non Chinese tribes that came to power at this time were from
the area that would later be called Manchuria. Geographically, Qing China grew three times the size of
what it was under the Ming, expanding north to include areas of Mongolia and Manchuria, as well as
west. The country was divided into provinces, with each province being managed and governed under
tusi, or native chieftains. The region of China is largely mountainous, with the majority of the
population densely packed near the coast and around the Yellow River Valley. After establishing their
rule, the Manchus created a new dynasty and declared a new emperor, carrying on the traditional
Chinese system of government and administration that had existed since the time of the Tang. Despite

Siddhartha Character Analysis
In Siddhartha by Herman Hess, Siddhartha views himself as determined, optimistic, and wise.
Siddhartha sees himself as determined due to his on going search for enlightenment. Siddhartha s
father watches his son, Again from hour to hour, silent, peered into the room, saw the unmoved
stander, filled his heart with anger, filled his heart with apprehension, filled his heart with fear, filled it
with sorrow (Hess 10). Siddhartha s father comes to the realization that his son will stand outside with
no food until he can join the Samanas. Siddhartha is so determined to try to find peace that he would
rather grow weak and hungry than not go with the Samanas. Along with determination, Siddhartha
sees himself as optimistic. When bad things happen, Siddhartha chooses to see the good and make the
best out of it. Siddhartha says to Kamaswami, Certainly, I traveled for my pleasure. For what else? I
became acquainted with people and places, I enjoyed trust and friendliness, I found friendship. Now,
dear friend, if I were Kamaswami, then the instant I saw that my purchase was thwarted, I would have
angrily hastened back, and time and money would indeed have been lost (Hess 61). Siddhartha chose
to make a positive experience from his failed trip instead of a negative one. Another way that
Siddhartha sees him is wise. Wisdom plays an important part in his journey to find peace and
happiness. Siddhartha explains to Govinda, I am telling you what I have found. Knowledge can be

Factors Associated With A Successful Export Venture Essay
Although Certified Worldwide (CW) has already identified potential markets, there are still several
factors associated with a successful export venture. This memo outlines my thoughts on CW s product
policy, distribution channels, finding new clients, terms of sale and international shipping, payment
methodology, as well as customs and government relations. Product Policy Considerations
International standardization is the best option, since the products sold meet universal needs.
Standardization can reduce costs by streamlining production, which involves fewer part types ,
ordered in larger quantities. Using the same part types for all production runs decreases costs, and
buying in bulk often saves money as well. Standardization also reduces setup time, so more time is
going towards producing the product rather than preparing to produce, which in turn improves the
production rate and the company s ability to meet orders faster. Uniform packaging reinforces product
branding, therefore, travelers can easily identify CW s products. However, slight differences must be
incorporated, for example, creating labels in the native language, and using the correct measurement
system (metric vs imperial). Distribution Channel and Finding Clients A direct marketing plan
utilizing the company s pre established website may be effective in the sale of supplements and
vitamins that consumers can purchase ahead of time, however, it is less efficient in the sale of over the
counter

gender equality continues when Tea Cake asks Janie to work alongside him in the Everglade fields.
Both Logan and Joe wanted Janie to work too, however she didn t like the way they wanted her to

Steel Magnolias Movie Analysis
Steel Magnolias is a great movie of love, laughter, and tears. It features six strong willed woman who

life, but no matter what they kept their southern grace and charm in tact at all times. In the film one of
the main set backs is Shelby, one of the Steel Magnolias (Julia Roberts), fighting with diabetes. Shelby
s diabetes is so bad she s not supposed to have children due to the strains it would put on her body.

the right to worry about him not turning out to be alone and unsuccessful like Alfredo. In his return to

Winged Victory Of Samothrace Analysis
The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also referred to as the Nike of Samothrace, is a marble Hellenistic
sculpture of The Greek goddess of victory, Nike. Created in 190 BC by an unknown artist and
constructed with parian marble, it stands at 5.57 meters although the goddess herself stands only at
2.75 meters. The sculpture was discovered in 1863 on the island of Samothrace on a French
exploration led by amateur archaeologist Charles Champoiseau. In its original setting, the Nike was
mounted on the prow of a stone ship in a temple, and was assumed to be overlooking the sanctuary of
the great gods on the island of Samothrace. The sculpture has been displayed at the most distinguished

Handout 1: Questions for Triumph of the Will by Leni Riefenstahl (1934/35)
1. Why does this film begin with a view of the clouds from the cockpit of an airplane? What might
this image symbolize?
I believe that the film began with a view of the clouds from the cockpit probably because Hitler was
on the plane and it showed that he felt superior to everyone down below, or that he was finally in the
midst of completing what he wanted which was to have a perfect Germany under his reign.
2. What impression do you get of Germany from the aerial shots of the city of Nuremberg? What
general image does the director Leni Riefenstahl give of Germany as a country?

They all got along well together, and had each other s back. The film shows one soldier scrubbing
another soldiers back. Also there were a lot of chants and uniform sayings they repeated over and
over, especially when Hitler was there. They paid homage to the Nazi comrades that had died.
5. What pictures of youth and masculinity are portrayed in this film?
This film definitely contributes to the youth and masculinity. The youth was taught at a very young
age to salute Hitler the appropriate way. Like I stated earlier, there was a toddler who was caught
saluting Hitler. The young men who were becoming soldiers were now dedicating their lives to their
country. One young man said, We are the Reich s young men, so this shows that they consciously
acknowledged who they were and for what they were called to do. As for masculinity, I believe that all
men were sought to be equal because the film showed men serving the soldiers, so they served each
other and they had no problem doing so.
6. What aspects of this film fit into the documentary film genre, and what aspects appear more purely
propagandistic?
The most propagandistic part of the film was when different men were giving speeches when Von
Hindenburg died. They all had glittering and nice things to say about Germany and how the people
and their loyalty were making all of it happen. It was giving Germany a sense of pride

Gesellschaft And Organic Solidarity
The social structure that bests fit my community would be organic solidarity, and Gesellschaft.
Organic solidarity is a theory that Emile Durkheim use to help illustrate social structure. He
hypothesized that a society s structure is determined by its division of labor and the task individuals
perform to ensure society will function properly (Lesson5, Video). To me organic solidarity is defined
as a big, diverse society with people of different personalities, cultural backgrounds, and values

to organic solidarity it is a theory that was composed by Ferdinand Tonnies. Tonnies theorized that
social structure is driven by a community s size and willingness to change (Lesson 5, Video). In my
own word Tonnies theory means that a society structure directly correlates with the size of the
community and the effort that those put into show. The social structure of Valdosta is displayed

Essay Robert Altmans Nashville
Nashville Essay
Robert Altman s movie Nashville is based on the political, social, and personal problems that our
country has to deal with. These problems are rooted in the battle between the need to create some false
image of success and the need for truth which is the struggle that exists in every character of this film
(except Jeff Goldbloom). To show this Robert Altman takes us through Nashville s Country Music
using political commentary, music and realistically portrayed dialogue to tell the story.
Altman portrayed politics as sort of a parasite feeding off of the Nashville dream. He used acousmatic
sound in two ways to portray these parasitic politics. The first way is the use of the Hall Walker van
which was an almost a surreal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Altman also uses dialogue in a similar manor. The nature of dialogue itself is solely for creating and
upholding the self image of the Nashville Star weather you are one or not. The conversations never get
passed the surface issues, and no one ever speaks their mind unless it s safe. But, the reality of each
character is very real and deep due to the way the dialogue was set up. Most of the people were
frivolous so in order to add some depth and reveal their true character Altman had to make the
dialogue as realistic as possible. The dialogue seemed almost unrehearsed or not planned at all which
gives it its reality. The most odious example of this is when the Hal Walker representative is arguing
about the political sign with Barbra Gene s husband at Centennial Park. He slips on his line in the heat
of the argument. I don t know if this was intentional or not, but I think they chose to keep it in the
movie because it seemed to be more true to reality than just a smooth flowing argument that would
normally be in a movie. The little slip gave way, for the first time, a vulnerable side to the Hal Walker
rep or even politics for that matter.
There is also another form of acousmatic, and it is the subtle comments of the crowd. Because there
are so many appearances and performances the crowd reaction becomes very important to the context
of the story from an outside critical standpoint. Putting these comments together creates one huge

Today In 2017 The Rate Of Unplanned Pregnancies Has Decreased

For more specific information, the research of Washton (1989) indicated that more than 60 percent of
cocaine addiction patients had a problem of sexual addiction. In gay men, the correlation between
sexual addiction and drug abuse was more prevalent (Stall, Paul, Greenwood, Pollack, Crosby, Mills,

change in the brain for many kinds of addiction, somehow, are similar (The Sexual Recovery Institute,

someone implies the word home. The denotative meaning of the word home would be the particular

The Human Of Human Visual System
Facial Recognition
Abstract
One of the most impressive skills of the human visual system is our ability to identify an individual
from a brief glance at their face, which will distinguish that certain individual from hundreds of others
one knows. Despite the variations in the appearance of each face as it changes in expression and
hairstyle. The ability to recognize human faces is so important in that the brain appears to have an area
solely devoted to the task. The fusiform gyrus is the area responsible for this. Brain studies consistently
find that this region of the temporal lobe of the brain becomes active when people look at faces.
Skeptics have countered that these studies show only an assumption, not proof, that activity in this
area is essential for face recognition. Thanks to the willingness of an intrepid patient, a new study
provides evidence that neurons in this area help humans recognize faces, and not other body parts or
objects.
The act of recognizing a face is actually quite complex. Faces must be accurately recognized in any
condition, even while moving. But unlike other objects, faces are intimately involved in
communication, and our brains must be able to extract a tremendous amount of subtle detail from just
a glance. So while some of the issues involved in face recognition are the same as for recognizing any
object, other issues are unique to faces.
There is a deep controversy in face recognition

Entities (NPEs), widely known as Patent Trolls, never make the products that they buy patents for and
instead wait till someone else uses the same concept no matter how small and then they swoop in and
sue the real innovators. Patent trolls create distrust in the innovation atmosphere and put fear into
inventors. They disrupt the innovation industries that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a nation and as one people we need to come together and push our government to stop being
influenced by patent trolls. We need the government to go back to being for the people as it was made
and set up to do. Patent trolls have too much influence in the judicial system and have laws created
just for them, which will only put us down as a nation. NPEs only care for their own benefit and it
hurts the rest of the world. Some say that it is their right to do so and they are using their freedom, but
they fail to realize that there freedom is being lost to these large patent troll corporations. Patent trolls
are only causing constant problems in the economy and are driving away innovation, which we as a
country and world need to bring back together as one. No matter what people say they need to realize
that at the end of the day NPEs, patent trolls, have all these negative affects just for their own selfish
personal benefits. Patent trolls have a tight grip on every aspect of the innovation world and it needs to

Divide the group into two teams to work as a relay. Place a large empty bucket on one end. The teams will start on the end opposite the bucket. The object is to run carrying a cup of water and dump it in the bucket and return. The next player in line will do the same. Keep repeating until one team s bucket is full. Water will obviously slosh out of the cups and make the ground even muddier. End the game by hosing each other s feet off. This will definitely transform your nice quiet backyard into a fun running track; or should we say muddy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When my mother died I was very young, And my father sold me while yet my tongue Could scarcely cry weep! weep! weep! weep! So your chimneys I sweep in soot I sleep. There s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head That curled like a lamb s back, was shaved, so I said, Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head s bare, You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair. And so he was quiet, that very night, As Tom was a sleeping he had such a sight! That thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, Jack, Were all of them locked up in coffins of black; And by came an Angel who had a bright key, And he opened the coffins set them all free; Then down a green plain, leaping, laughing they run, And wash in a river and shine in the Sun. Then naked white, all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind. And the Angel told Tom, if he d be a good boy, He d have God for his father never want joy. And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark And got with our bags our brushes to work. Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy warm; So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm. The Education Of The United States And China Modifying Education in the United States and China Perhaps there is nothing more imperative to the success of a nation today than the education of its people; developed education leads to innovation, an improved economy, and, possibly most importantly, a confidence from society about government. The rise of every great nation has been preceded by advancing education. Although education has been mostly examined from the perspective of higher education in the past, this lens fails to provide an adequate picture of the average citizen. Nonetheless, China s leaders have done a magnificent job, particularly in the last 10 years, of changing international perception about their international goals and their trustworthiness. More people around the world have a positive image of China now than they have had in the past 50 years. The United States, on the other hand, has seen a decrease in their global status since the 1980 s. Although it remains a Superpower, more and more American citizens believe that their days as a hegemon are behind them and that their leadership on the world stage is diminishing. This dying belief in American exceptionalism is a problem for the US. In order to achieve many of its domestic and international goals, a democratic government needs the support of its people, and if the people decide they are no longer capable of, or interested in, being the world leader, their position at the top is unsustainable. In the future, this waning attitude of exceptionalism is likely to change the way that America interacts with both its allies and its adversaries. Despite their differences in language and culture, China and the United States actually have many striking similarities, one of them being that they are two of the most populated countries in the world. • 10. Bring Back Flogging Bring Back Flogging This essay by Jeff Jacoby illustrates an authors use of ironic sarcasm otherwise known as satire to defend and illustrate his platform on his position. Jacoby uses in this essay verbal irony (persuasion in the form of ridicule). In the irony of this sort there is a contrast between what is said and what is meant. Jacoby s claim in simple is he believes that flogging should be brought back to replace the more standard conventional method of the imprisonment of violent and non violent offenders. His grounds for the revival of flogging stems back to his initial mention of the Puritan punishment system. He cites how in 1632 Richard Hopkins was Flogged and branded for selling guns and weapons to the Indians, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All this holds true assuming that public flogging serves it supposed purpose, and the terrible risks of prison are a confirmed reality. When Jacoby in paragraph three states that today we are more enlightened than our puritan forefathers where they used flogging we lock wrongdoers up in cages , he is portraying a method of verbal irony (sarcasm). He continues his sarcastic voice when he lists a criminal act and states that each punishment seems to be incarceration. His satire of the modern day justice system is even more noticeable when he claims that prison is the all purpose, all in one punishment. His final statement of the essay that perhaps the puritans where more enlightened than we thought contradicts one of his initial statements concluding that we are more enlightened that the puritans how we cage wrongdoers confirms his satire or verbal irony in his essay. The question arises toward Jacoby s first reason for flogging. Jacoby s case for the overpopulation and development of new institutions doesn t find favor in my eyes. Yes, the tax paying American is paying for the prison system, but he also pays to employ many of the correction officers along with the contractors who build and restore many of the institutions. They can be a high school basketball coach, the shift supervisor at the local coffee shop, or even the President of the United States of America. In as many ways that leaders can vary by appearance and responsibility, there is also a variance in the ways that they lead. This case study aims to compare three of the more popular theories of leadership. These leadership theories are situational leadership, trait theory and transformational leadership. Summary of Theories Situational leadership, developed by professor Paul Hersey and author and consultant Ken Blanchard. Their approach was based off of a 1967 article by W.J. Reddin called The 3 D Management Style Theory. In his article, Reddin discusses the need to have different styles based on the demands of the leader. A leader needs to be flexible in their approach to meet the needs of the job, their superior and their subordinates (1967). Hersey and Blanchard progressed this theory by introducing the Situational Leadership II model. Their model breaks leadership into four different styles, and how a leader must alter their approach in supporting and directing their subordinates based on a given situation. These styles are directing (S1), coaching (S2), supporting (S3) and delegating (S4). The model also focuses on the development level of the subordinates by categorizing them between low (D1), moderate (D2 and D3) and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example of how this ethnocentrism invades the minds of the average American and distorts their thoughts is by asking them to compare different Asian histories or cultures, to which they will likely reply they re all the same. In addition to being ethnocentric, this viewpoint is just plain wrong. Take, for example, Qing China and Tokugawa Japan. Though these two Asian empires had many things in common, they are far from being the same. Qing China refers to the period of Chinese history between 1644 and 1911, when the foreign Manchus established a dynasty and ruled over China, calling themselves the Qing. The non Chinese tribes that came to power at this time were from the area that would later be called Manchuria. Geographically, Qing China grew three times the size of what it was under the Ming, expanding north to include areas of Mongolia and Manchuria, as well as west. The country was divided into provinces, with each province being managed and governed under tusi, or native chieftains. The region of China is largely mountainous, with the majority of the population densely packed near the coast and around the Yellow River Valley. • 22. Factors Associated With A Successful Export Venture Essay Although Certified Worldwide (CW) has already identified potential markets, there are still several factors associated with a successful export venture. This memo outlines my thoughts on CW s product policy, distribution channels, finding new clients, terms of sale and international shipping, payment methodology, as well as customs and government relations. Product Policy Considerations International standardization is the best option, since the products sold meet universal needs. Standardization can reduce costs by streamlining production, which involves fewer part types , ordered in larger quantities. Using the same part types for all production runs decreases costs, and buying in bulk often saves money as well. Standardization also reduces setup time, so more time is going towards producing the product rather than preparing to produce, which in turn improves the production rate and the company s ability to meet orders faster. Uniform packaging reinforces product branding, therefore, travelers can easily identify CW s products. However, slight differences must be incorporated, for example, creating labels in the native language, and using the correct measurement system (metric vs imperial). Human cadaveric dissection has withstood many challenges to its role in anatomy courses and remains unvanquished as the superior method of learning human anatomy. In his return to his life in Rome, he was left with a gift from Alfredo who gave him a film reel containing all the censored parts of the movies they had shown before in Cinema Paradiso. The youth was taught at a very young age to salute Hitler the appropriate way. Like I stated earlier, there was a toddler who was caught saluting Hitler. The young men who were becoming soldiers were now dedicating their lives to their country. One young man said, We are the Reich s young men, so this shows that they consciously acknowledged who they were and for what they were called to do. As for masculinity, I believe that all men were sought to be equal because the film showed men serving the soldiers, so they served each other and they had no problem doing so. 6. • 34. Essay Robert Altmans Nashville Nashville Essay Robert Altman s movie Nashville is based on the political, social, and personal problems that our country has to deal with. These problems are rooted in the battle between the need to create some false image of success and the need for truth which is the struggle that exists in every character of this film (except Jeff Goldbloom). To show this Robert Altman takes us through Nashville s Country Music using political commentary, music and realistically portrayed dialogue to tell the story. Altman portrayed politics as sort of a parasite feeding off of the Nashville dream. He used acousmatic sound in two ways to portray these parasitic politics. The first way is the use of the Hall Walker van which was an almost a surreal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Altman also uses dialogue in a similar manor. The nature of dialogue itself is solely for creating and upholding the self image of the Nashville Star weather you are one or not. The conversations never get passed the surface issues, and no one ever speaks their mind unless it s safe. But, the reality of each character is very real and deep due to the way the dialogue was set up. Most of the people were frivolous so in order to add some depth and reveal their true character Altman had to make the dialogue as realistic as possible. The dialogue seemed almost unrehearsed or not planned at all which gives it its reality. The most odious example of this is when the Hal Walker representative is arguing about the political sign with Barbra Gene s husband at Centennial Park. He slips on his line in the heat of the argument. I don t know if this was intentional or not, but I think they chose to keep it in the movie because it seemed to be more true to reality than just a smooth flowing argument that would normally be in a movie. The little slip gave way, for the first time, a vulnerable side to the Hal Walker rep or even politics for that matter. There is also another form of acousmatic, and it is the subtle comments of the crowd. Because there are so many appearances and performances the crowd reaction becomes very important to the context of the story from an outside critical standpoint. The Human Of Human Visual System Facial Recognition Abstract One of the most impressive skills of the human visual system is our ability to identify an individual from a brief glance at their face, which will distinguish that certain individual from hundreds of others one knows. Despite the variations in the appearance of each face as it changes in expression and hairstyle. The ability to recognize human faces is so important in that the brain appears to have an area solely devoted to the task. The fusiform gyrus is the area responsible for this. Brain studies consistently find that this region of the temporal lobe of the brain becomes active when people look at faces. Skeptics have countered that these studies show only an assumption, not proof, that activity in this area is essential for face recognition. Thanks to the willingness of an intrepid patient, a new study provides evidence that neurons in this area help humans recognize faces, and not other body parts or objects. The act of recognizing a face is actually quite complex. Faces must be accurately recognized in any condition, even while moving. But unlike other objects, faces are intimately involved in communication, and our brains must be able to extract a tremendous amount of subtle detail from just a glance. So while some of the issues involved in face recognition are the same as for recognizing any object, other issues are unique to faces. There is a deep controversy in face recognition ...
