Yoruba Women Roles
The roles of women in Yoruba religion Women s roles have always been obscured in African
society. It is very diverse and controversial across African religions. The ideations of equal rights
and power for both sexes are nowhere apparent in African culture. The portrayal of its culture is
mainly presented from a masculine perspective. Little do we know about women s roles and lives.
It is uncommon to see articles or newspapers that focus on feminine views and their social roles in
African religion. However, in Yoruba culture, the endeavor of Yoruba women that strive for
equality of power can be gradually perceived and attained in certain extents.
There is a belief of the Yoruba peoplesuggesting that relationship of men and women are inalienable

Women also take part in spiritual aspect where they serve as healers of cultic functionaries. The
explanation of Olademo(2012) suggested that healers are individuals who help to restore health to
sick people and help them to overcome the undesirable condition. When someone in the community
suffers from sickness, it is considered that the person is out of tune with nature (Olademo, 2012, p.
53) which is also a sign that the person is losing the power he attains. This is the reason why
healing is crucial in Yoruba religion because it represents the completeness of person, family and
the community. Women are predominantly tide with every sector of daily life. Most commonly,
women are known as caring, meticulous, and humane. The job of healing is compatible with the
characterizations described above of women. The duties of women healers are to remember all of
the herb names and its usage, as they are great importance in treating and healing sick people.
Furthermore, women healers offer consultation services for sick individuals, which some may
require both religious and physical healing. The position of woman healer is a great resemblance of
being a mother. They are so similar in the fact that they both demand caring and patient.
Unfortunately, there are constraints and prohibitions because the women s physiological structure

Argumentative Essay On Multiple Disabilities
Disability
Everyone desires to live a normal life, without others examining them differently for a disability
that they cannot control. Many disabled people are experiencing completely normal lives, when
several others are not functioning normal because of a physical or mental disease. People in our
world, including the media, do not seem to focus on the disabled people who are living a normal
life and are properly functioning. They would rather keep attention on the ones who are stuck in a
wheelchair for the rest of their life, and believe that their life is nearly over. Whether someone is
disabled or not, they all have the same potential in life, and can all achieve the same goals as
someone who is healthy. Mairs, Anaya, and my cousin, Tyler, prove that even though people do
look at others differently because of a disability, everyone can still live a normal life.
Nancy Mairs is a woman who lived with an incurable disease known as Multiple Sclerosis,
however, with the assistance of a cane and wheelchair, she was functioning her life almost
identically to she was before. In Mairs essay Disability, she described how she has been
examining the media to find similar representations of herself. Mairs found only one example of
a woman with Multiple Sclerosis on television, which the main focus of that individual was on
how terrible their life was, and how they have no hope to live a normal life. Mairs views this
representation as a problem, and believes that physical disability looms pretty large in one s life.
But it doesn t devour one wholly (Mairs 13). Mairs continues to explain how she was fairly similar
to all the women her age, and how she engaged in the same activities women her age do. Nancy
Mairs is a perfect example of a woman who was continuing to live her life normally, even with the
drawback of a severe disease.
In the essay Mental Illness on Television, Rosie Anaya extended off of Mairs opinions on the
media and how they portray the disabled. Anaya pointed out that Mairs essay was released in the
year 1987, and since then there has been a widely noticeable acceptance of disabled people within
the media. Nowadays, we observe physically disabled people in a wide variety of media, from

Persuasive Essay On Olympics
The 2016 Olympics Games are underway. Most of us will not have the opportunity to travel to
Brazil for the thrill of the Games; but we can watch via television and cheer on our Canadian
Olympians. As you anticipate watching your favorite sports why not organize a neighborhood
competition of your own? There are plenty of fun events you could host for your family and
friends. Check out the listing below and pick out the ones you think you will try this summer.
1.Water Cup Racing
What s better during the hot summer months than some good old water games? This one is

Mud Run
Not everyone is a runner; in fact some might think distance running is boring. However, our
Canadian athletes love to run, whether long distance or short sprints. There are many running
events during the 2016 Summer Olympic Games; make sure to tune in to some of the running
events as our athletes run for gold.
In our version of running we are going to pattern it after the Mud Run. Hopefully you won t get
as muddy as the runners in Canada s Mud Run Canada s Dirtiest Trail Run; but you will have
fun. The set up for this race will be best in your garden, an empty patch that is not actively
growing something. Till up the dirt to loosen it up. Spray it down with water to get it good and
damp. Divide the group into two teams to work as a relay. Place a large empty bucket on one
end. The teams will start on the end opposite the bucket. The object is to run carrying a cup of
water and dump it in the bucket and return. The next player in line will do the same. Keep
repeating until one team s bucket is full. Water will obviously slosh out of the cups and make the
ground even muddier. End the game by hosing each other s feet off. This will definitely transform
your nice quiet backyard into a fun running track; or should we say muddy

Prohibition And Drugs
Throughout the course of time, the consumption of alcohol has been a part of culture used for
socialization, hospitality, celebration, and relaxation. Many previous societies claim that alcohol
was and could be used for remedies and healing, and that alcohol solely held positive attributes and
impacts on members of society. Although, in the beginning of the 20th century the government of
the United States began to question the effects and outcomes of consumption of alcohol on its

The Correlation Of Mental Health And Substance Use Disorder
The Correlation of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder
Just as complex as the trillions of cells that keep our bodies functioning are the effects and
correlations of mental health and substance use disorders. The effect of substance use disorder and
psychiatric illnesses impact individuals biologically, psychologically, and sociologically, however,
the correlation among mental illnesses and substance use disorders are not clearly defined. Due to
a lack of knowledge of substance use as a disorder and the correlation with mental health, the
individuals who suffer from these conditions are marginalized and pushed to tattered edges of their
social strata. Mental health and substance use disorder can create devastating effects on the
individuals as well as their micro, meso, exo, and macrosystems, which perpetuate the negative
effects and realities of these individuals. In our current times with the mass amount of substance use
the plagues our society, and the continued high volume of mental health, it is critical that we gain
an understanding of the correlation between mental health and substance use disorders to better
treat and support those whose realties are filled with unknown pain and exile. Mental health and
substance use disorder and their affects are clearly related, however, the question that remains is
whether or not substance use disorders can create the manifestation of mental illnesses?
Mental Illness Mental illnesses are vast and far reaching, and

How To Legalize Marijuana In Canada
Marijuana This is an issue that is concerning many Canadians today, as the newly elected
government wants to legalize marijuana. Many parties such as the conservative party are very
opposed to this and many are not quite sure like the NDP. There are arguments for both positions
on this topic, such as if this will create drug addicts, kill people if legalized or if it can benefit
Canadas economy and the people living here. My mind has changed on the topic of marijuana. I
used to be strongly opposed to the thought of the legalization but now I agree more with the
Liberal party of Canada and think it should be legalized. When I did the research for the Who

adults would no longer use it. The Liberal party of Canada has been... Show more content on

that the second amendment allows you to have one. I do not agree with the conservative party
at all. I think there should be no guns at all, if there are no guns there are no mass shootings.
Although there are many people who need guns for safety like police officers, they should be
allowed guns for protection but be checked to make sure they have no homicidal tendencies. It is
now known that 31,328 people died from gun violence in 2010, or roughly 1 every 17 minutes. If
there were no guns in the first place there would be no statistic. I think I agree more with the
Liberal party of Canada because they believe in strict gun control and that we do not have the right

Is the embedded derivative closely related? In the event it is, the contract cannot be bifurcated and
must be considered as a whole, though ASC 815 40 15 2 discusses contracts that are indexed to
and potentially settled in an entity s stock. Additionally, ASC 815 15 35 2 offers an alternative
solution if the embedded derivative cannot be reliably measured or identified, and that is to
assign a fair value to the entire contract, with gains and losses across reporting periods flowing
through earnings. ASC 480 10 10 1 gives the objective of ASC 480 as the requirement to classify
as a liability a freestanding financial instrument that embodies obligations for the issuer. It states in
ASC 480 10 15 3 that freestanding financial instrument could include one with traits of equity and
liability. It places a restriction on these instruments in ASC 480 10 15 5 by disallowing features
embedded in a financial instrument that is not, in its entirety, a derivative, making the use of ASC
480 an all or nothing proposition since the guidance encompasses the financial instrument in its
entirety (ASC 480 10 25 1). The contract between Hearts and Bionic contains obligations as defined
by the ASC 480 that are conditional and/or unconditional, such as the contingent redemption right.
ASC 480 20 30 7 requires fair value for financial instruments under ASC 480.

How To Use Realism In The Yellow Wall-Paper By Charlotte...
In the past, many authors wrote about the divinity of one with himself and in nature, however, this
transitioned in the late nineteenth century. This literary period, known as realism, targets the
everyday lives of the individual, including a vast amount of details; which The Yellow Wall Paper
by Charlotte Perkins Stetson perfectly illustrates. This psychological short story exemplifies the
characteristics of the realismmost effectively by displaying the characters as the essential focus and
being critical of gender roles.
Throughout this tale, her husband, John, is concentrating on alleviating her, however, he proceeds
to do this in the worst way possible. Without stimulation to the brain, the mind will corrode. Jane

Essay on Cultural Universals Between United States and China
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of culture is the customary beliefs,
social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group . Every country has its
specific culture and there are some obvious cultural universals between China and America. One
example of such cultural universal is the directness of American versus the humbleness of the
Chinese people. Another example would be the self independence of the young Americans versus
the young Chinese who tend to depend on their parents. What I would like to cover are the
holidays observed by United States and China, roles played in the familyby husband and wife,
parenting styles and conflict management.

The American families advocate equality. The husband and the wife usually have an equality voice

Parenting Style
Yale law professor Amy Chua wrote a book named Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother and it talks

set high standards tend to have kids who are more successful at school. It s also clear that
Chinese parents tend to spend more time pushing their kids to study, practice, and achieve. Her
book created a huge controversial piece for the Wall Street Journal on Why Chinese mothers are
Superior . This article is about the response of Amy Chua to all the book readers that she believed
took her parenting methods too serious. It explains how many

The Importance Of Chemical Communication
Chemical communication is the detection and recognition of chemical signals released by other
organisms. The chemicals that are released are known as info chemicals and can be directed
towards organisms of the same or different species. Info chemicals can be detected by more than
one species and the detection of info chemicals is through olfactory and gustatory organs. The
utilization of chemical communication is vital to the survival of aquatic organisms due to the
nature of the medium which they are surrounded by; water. Over the past century, the rise in large
scale industrial activity such as mining and metal processing has leadto an explosion in human
productivity. However, the repercussion of this expansion is the disruption of global habitats,
resulting in the contamination of freshwater environments by heavy metal pollutants. The level of
pollution by heavy metals is further escalated by factors such as acid rain which increase the
erosion rate of metals thus leading to the introduction of more heavy metal pollutants (Tchouwou et
al. 2012). Heavy metals are classified as metals that are significantly denser than water. Within this
group of heavy metals, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, and mercury are among the most critical
for their toxicity to a wide variety of organisms at low concentrations. However heavy metals such
as copper which are widely used in technological appliances can also affect aquatic organisms.

Hair Investigation
Discussion:
The purpose for this investigation was to measure the diameter of the human hair using the
knowledge of physics of diffraction and interference and the way light waves travel through a
medium. The measurements made in this experiment were done using a ruler, a measuring tape and
the wavelength of the laser beam used. The measuring tape was used to measure the distance from
the hair to the wall. The ruler was used to measure the distance from the centre of the bright band
to the center of the first dark spot which is called the order of minimas. The increasing number of
minima corresponds to the centre of the second dark spot which are arranged numerically in order,
such as, minima 1, minima 2 and so on.

These answers can portray the high measure of precision in these results. The calculations above

There are varying factors for the strand of hair such as different people have different hair
structures and different genes which causes the diameter of the hair to differ from that of other
people. Another factor is the age of the person as children are more likely to have sensitive and
finer hair, whereas, adults have more thicker and stronger hair as well as the closer to the root of

You never got married, is that correct?
Yes, I never got married. Nothing was more degrading than a woman to have to marry for a home.
Love should be the sole reason. Surely those with a brain to think, eyes to see and a mind to
reason must realise that the capitalist and a cooperative system prevail in its place. I got many
proposals but I rejected them all.
So you were the first woman to stand for election in the British Empire, how did you feel?
I felt like I made a change for women and I managed to get over 51 000 votes, although I never
managed to get a seat but most of my votes polled well except for in 1917. When I travelled to
America I was elected to be secretary for the United Nations for Woman Suffrage. Then with that I
made 2 newspapers, the Woman s Sphere and Woman Voter.

An Analysis Of Theodora And Attendants And Akhenaton,...
The theme of the two art works, Theodora and Attendants, and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three
Daughters, is Political Authority. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history,
and is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the
time and is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are
ruling. Art has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these
pieces reveals that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these
cultures are also heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton,
Nefertiti, and Three Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and
influence their subjects. Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarnaperiod in
18th dynasty ancient Egypt, which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in
ancient Egypt was vastly different from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton
himself. The religion of the time was also very different, as it had become a monotheistic religion
instead of a polytheistic one, where everyone now worships the life giving god Aton, represented
here by the sun who is soaking them in life giving rays and the ankh placed on the sun representing
Aton. Pictured in this work is the PharaohAkhenaton and his family, yet it is not the stiff ceremonial

To Kill A Mockingbird Courage Analysis
Courage is portrayed to be a special kind of knowledge or gift that you are born with. It can be
demonstrated as rescuing a princess or even standing up to the local school bully. The
webstermerriam dictionary entry for courage is, mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and
withstand danger, fear, or difficulty .1 In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, she uses
courageas a theme for her characters and demonstrates how each person is able to use courage as
their forte.
One example of a courageous character in the book is Jem. Throughout the book, Jem is known

She said she meant to break herself of it before she died, and that s what she did, (148) This is the
primary example of Mrs. Dubose being courageous. She had enough strength and desire to die free
of her addiction to morphine.
The most recognizable source of courage is found in Atticus. He always knows what to do and is
an example to Scout, Jem, and the town of Maycomb. Atticus stood up to sister Alexandra s bullying
tactics when she tried to force him to fire Calpurnia, telling her that their black housekeeper was

Why Do People Commit Crimes In The 16th Century
Crimes and Punishments in the 16th Century
The punishments in the 16th century were extremely firm and horrifying for criminals. People
who committed crimes in the 16th century had to face serious punishments, such as the rack,
weight placed on breast, and were placed on a sharp stone. Not to mention in this time period,
people were living in poverty and some people could not find money to buy food for their
families. The population of England was growing faster than food resources. One result of this was
occasional and localized food shortages so severe as to occasion hunger, starvation, and death
(Morgan 288). In addition, many people did not have money even to buy basic things they needed
to survive and many of them became criminals in the eye of the 16th century law. Punishments in
the 16th century were unjust able for crimes such as begging, theft, and treason. ... Show more

Comparing Bandar-Logs In The Jungle Book, By Rudyard Kipling
Did you know the Bandar logs from The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling is similar to bullies?
The Bandar log is similar to bullies by how they behave, speak, and treat others. Both, Bandar
log and bullies, do not have any rules in their own world. They both do not take everything
seriously and they always choose to play around. The Bandar log and bullies always think they
are above everyone else. In my opinion, it is obvious that the Bandar logs and bullies are alike.
In their world, they do not have any rules at all. In Kaa s Hunting, Bagheera said, referring to the
Bandar logs, Thou hast been with the monkey People the gray apes the people without a law the
eaters of everything (Kipling 30 31). Bullies can be truly similar because they have no rules and
they can bully anyone they desire to. You see, The monkey people and bullies are the same
because the Bandar logs would never fight unless it is one hundred to one and bullies would only
would torture one kid, but if there are more than one kid the bully would not do anything. Rules do
not apply for bullies and the monkey people, at least that is what they think.... Show more content

interested in one person, then lose interest and go to another person to bully. Both bullies and the

West Nile Virus ( Wnv ) Essay
West Nile Virus (WNV) was originally detected from a woman in Uganda in 1937. WNV first
appeared in the United States in 1999 in New York which was the first incident in the Western
Hemisphere. WNV is a mosquito borne virus (arbovirus). It is in the flavivirus family. WNV is a
neurotropic virus. WNV is a member of the Japanese encephalitis virus. Severe encephalitis
outbreaks in humans have been escalating. The means by which the virus gains access to the
brain (also known as neuroinvasion) seems inadequately understood. Suggestions of the
hypothesis of WNV leans towards the concept of blood brain barrier disruption and retrograde
axonal transport (Suen et al., 2014) The incidence is highest in late summer and early autumn,
until the first hard frost does away with the mosquito population for that year. Birds and other
animals (such as horses) are the usual reservoir for the infection, and they are involved in its
dissemination. Initial viral symptoms may give way to high fever and neck stiffness (meningeal
signs). However, as with most forms of encephalitis, it is the confusion and depressed levels of
consciousness (stupor) that mark the infection as being of the brain (encephalitis) and not just the
meninges. West Nile Virus is an acute central nervous disease (McCance Huether, 2014). Provide
some examples of sources of infection for novel diseases, including the mode of transmission for
WNV. Why is this concern? The virus possesses a single stranded

Research Paper: AIDS Did you know that in the United States of America the sixth leading cause
of death in people from their mid 20 s through their mid 40 s is AIDS (Zuger, 2010)? AIDS stands
for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome and is a disease derived from the virus known as
Human Immunodeficiency Virus. The immune system gets broken down when someone has AIDS
and it is basically the highest form of HIV. When a person has HIV, the CD4 cells get infected and
start to deteriorate and once the CD4 count is below 200, the person is considered to have AIDS
rather than HIV ( Living , 2005). Not many people know that AIDS is extremely prevalent in the

Some women encounter vaginal itching, discharge, pain and irritation, which heighten the risk of
passing on the virus to others (Cunningham, 2000).
Though there are many signs and symptoms for HIV/AIDS, it is possible for a patient to have
little to no symptoms at all within the first ten years of having it (Zuger, 2010). Having no
symptoms is more of a curse than a blessing because if the person infected does not know they
have anything wrong, they will not seek medical help. This is horrible considering it is better to
start getting treated as soon as possible to stay as healthy as possible for longer while having HIV
/AIDS. Another reason it would be better to have symptoms is because since it is attacking the
immune system, it is destroying the lymph node glands that are trying to fight off the infection and
the sooner a person can find out, the sooner they can start salvaging their lymph nodes so they can
help fight off future, less severe infections. Not having any signs of HIV/AIDS is harmful because
the weaker immune system a person has, the more likely it is for them to get something like
pneumonia which is extremely life threatening even in someone who is healthy.
Without taking an HIV test, it is impossible to determine whether or not these symptoms are
because the patient is affected with HIV or if they have something else that is wrong. There are
many tests that can be used to figure out if a person is infected but the most common one is the

How Did Woodrow Wilson Become Conservative
New Nationalism In 1907, major firms in the stock market declared bankruptcy, leading to an
event called the Panic of 1907. This caused a recession, or a decline in spending and employment.
Many business leaders blamed this financial crisis on the Progressive reforms of Roosevelt. The
economy recovered by 1909, casting some doubt on these previous accusations. However,
Roosevelt lost the nomination for a third term and left the presidency in 1909. William Howard
Taft, Roosevelt s successor, became the next president, but he angered many progressive
Republicans by not being firm enough in controlling big business. As a result, a progressive faction,

In response, Congress passed the Underwood Tariff Act in 1913. This act lowered the average
rates of tariffs from 40 percent to 25 percent. The law also removed tariffs entirely from certain
goods such as sugar, wool, iron ore, and steel. This allowed the prices of those imported goods to
compete with similar products of American producers, which benefited American consumers.
Banking Wilson also argued for an extensive reform of banking and currency laws. He thought
that the banking system needed to run more efficiently to enhance businesses. To accomplish
this, Wilson supported the establishment of a nationwide centralized banking system. He also
believed that a new federal currency was needed to assist the flow of money. Six months later,
Congress passed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which formed a national banking and currency
system similar to the one Wilson supported. Twelve Federal Reserve Banks were created with the
authority to issue Federal Bank Notes, the official U.S. currency, to nationally chartered private
banks. Those banks were able to borrow the money at a fixed interest rate. The rate did not rise
during the period when the loan was repaid. This kept the banking system

Analysis Of The Poem Lorena By Lucille Clifton
Though out this class I learned a lot, I never really read much poetry and did not realize how
much meaning poems can have. I am glad that we read so many different types and styles of
poems and books. It really helped me get a well rounded understanding of poetry. My favorite unit
was the collection unit. The other poems we read taught me a lot about the other topics we
touched on as well. Before this class I never really gave poetrymuch thought, this class opened up
my eyes to how important poetry really is. The poem that stood out to me the most from the
speaker, and narrative vs lyric unit was Lorena by Lucille Clifton. I really enjoyed this poem and
it made it easy for me to understand the concept of speakers. Lucille Clifton wrote the poem, but
wrote it about a experience Lorena Bobbit went through. It was hard for me to understand how a
poem could have a speaker other then the author but this one made me see how sometimes the
author is not necessarily the speaker. I thought about/authority and how it always insisted/on
itself (pg. 57, 2 4). These lines contain the phrase I , but when Clifton uses the phrase I , she
herself is not the individual, Lorena Bobbit is meant to be the speaker. This poem was a narrative,
it told a story about the even Lorena actually lived through. It really stood out to me a lot and
helped me understand the concept on a deeper level. The poem that stood out to me the most from

Fermentation Of Yeast Lab Report
The objective of this study is to show the process of fermentation of yeast and the cellular
respiration rate that is found in the mitochondria. The first part of the experiment tested
fermentation of yeast through the production of CO2 under certain circumstances. Four different
food sources were used: glucose, sucrose, starch, and H2O. The temperature varied from 37oC to
4oC and measured on a 5 minute interval. We predicted that the glucose on the highest temperature
would produce the most CO2 bubbles. In the alcohol fermentation process glucose is initially used,
we predicted that the increase in glucose would produce the most CO2. The second part of the
experiment, cellular respirationwas measured from mitochondria found in isolated lima beans. This
was done to examine the citric acid cycle that takes place in the mitochondria. Within the citric acid
cycle, succinate must be converted to fumarate. The experiment tested the reaction rate of the
succinate with the varying mixtures that contained DPIP, a buffer, succinate and the mitochondrial
suspension. These mixtures were placed inside the spectrometer where transmittance was measured.
We predicted that solution 3 would have the lowest rate of reaction. This is because solution 3
contained the most succinate as well as an considerable amount of the mitochondrial suspension in
the same solution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Social Network reveals an ironic story of a computer genius who creates a global social

his cynical, unsympathetic and egocentric personality and behavior. The Social Network is a
compelling movie and the movie makers had done a magnificent job using sophisticated

The Cardiovascular System Of The Circulatory System
The circulatory system (also known as the cardiovascular system) is responsible for respiration
(transporting oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from cells), nutrition (carrying nutrients from
digested food substances to the cells of the body), waste removal (disposing cellular waste products
and poisons that may have been consumed during the digestion process), immunity (fighting against
infectious agents such as pathogens), cellular communication (ensuring that that the transport and
the function of the hormones remain steady) and thermoregulation or homeostasis (maintaining the
body s internal temperature by transporting heat). [The Circulatory, Respiratory, and Digestive
Systems. (n.d.). Retrieved May 9, 2015, from http://www.uic.edu/classes/bios/bios100

In the circulatory system, there are three main components that make up the cardiovascular system
and assist in its function: the heart, blood and blood vessels which can be further separated into

Homeless Criminalization Research Paper
Homelessness has been around for a long time, but crimination of the homeless is a topic that just
occurred recently. When criminalization came about there was two groups in the U.S., one side
opposed to it and the other supported it. The group that opposes criminalization of homeless
people are advocates who believe that criminalizing homeless people will only worsen the
situation and cause more problems to begin with, make our nation as a whole look bad, and
violates their rights. Another reason why a person advocates against the criminalization of
homeless people believe in what they believe is that they had a personal experience relating to this
subject or out of concern for the citizens who reside in this country. Instead of wasting the

Saudi Arabi An Experiment For Reduction The Oil Production
Figure 5 shows how the United States has a developing oil production that U.S. is the largest oil
consumer in the world. When the largest consumer produces a massive amount of oil it will
influence many countries that depend on the revenue budget from oil exports. The United States
added almost 1 million barrels per day of oil production between 2012 and 2013 (Ratner, Tiemann,
2015, p6). With this production of the United Stateseffects the oil prices in the global because the
U.S. imports oil decreases and the supply of oil in the world increases.
Many countries convince Saudi Arabia to rebalanced the supply through reducing the oil production
to let the price go up, but Saudi Arabia believes the market with this price will be rebalancing.
Saudi Arabia has an experiment for reduction the oil production happened in 30 years ago. Dermat
Gately(1986), New York University, says restriction from 1979 to 1985: each cut output at least 20
percent. But the greatest percentage cutbacks were borne by Saudi Arabia (more than
60 percent of its 1979 level) (p.241). Saudi Arabia tried to face the collapse price by reducing oil
production and the largest sacrificed came from Saudi Arabia. While Saudi Arabia decreased the
production they lose many consumers that were imported the oil from Saudi Arabia. The one of the
most important issues to maintain consumers is trustful to you. When Saudi Arabia decreased the
oil production means that many consumers will find

Fred Astaire s Ability To Dance
Fred Astaire, a well known stage and film dancer, is considered to be one of the best American
dancers of all time. His classiness and his ability to be light on his feet developed the musical
film industry into what it is today. Astaire s dancing style seemed effortless with exceptionally
fast footwork. However, his grace required endless hours of practice, but it wasn t all for
nothing. There wasn t a movie back in the 1920 s that didn t require some form of dancing and
his ability to look classy eventually landed him a signature role. Gene Kelly, a world famous
Irish dancer said, he can give people pleasure just by walking across the floor. In his younger
years, Fred was considered to be frail and weak in comparison to other boys of his age. His
mother, Johanna Geilus, was his initial push into dancing hoping he would develop a greater
athletic figure. Over time, his ability to dancebegan to come naturally and complimented that of his
sister s style. Fred was considered to be more of an innovator... Show more content on

His official late career started with Jean Negulesco s Daddy Longlegs (1955), which allowed
Astaire to be on the forefront of acting again. Fred Astaire continued to make more films including
one of his most famous musical hits, Funny Face (1957) with Audrey Hepburn. To this day,
Funny Face is still regarded as one of the best musical style films ever made. His final film
appearance was in John Irvin s Ghost Story (1981). Due to his age, this was a smaller role for a
horror novel adaptation.
Astaire contributed his wonderful dancing to dozens of films. Throughout his film career, he won
numerous outstanding awards including two Golden Globe awards, three Emmy awards, and one
Honorary Award at the Academy Awards. He also had countless nominations including one

Pestel , Swot and Porters 5 Analysis of Emirates Airlines...
I. Background Of Airlines Industry
Airlines Industry is large and growing, it is also the most fiercely competitive sector. It facilitates
international trade, world economy growth, tourism and international investment. The airline
industry has over time with the use of modern technology been able to take advantage of the short
haul, high frequency and gained a competitive advantage over other forms of travel, such as buses
and railroad travel. Additionally, the airlineindustry still holds the market for global travel at a low
cost and convenient way to travel. The aviation industry gives a good contribution to the GDP
which includes the following: airline services, general aviation, civil airport operations, aircraft
manufacturing, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Porter s Five Forces Analysis
It analyses the micro environment of the business i.e. its competitiveness, attractiveness and
profitability.
a. Emirates Supplier Power
The supplier power in airlines is dominated by the world s two largest aircraft manufacturers are
Airbus and Boeing. The competition between the two manufacturers is neck to neck but that
would prove to be a boon for Emirates as the prices would not rocket through the ceiling. A study
shows that Emirates holds 93 Boeing aircrafts and 83 Airbus units (Planespotters, 2009). In 2007,
Emirates purchased 81 Airbus flights, to extend it services however, they chose Airbus over
Boeing as the latter failed to deliver its latest aircrafts on time and moreover, Airbus had quoted a
good price (Barryl, 2007). The changing oil prices also have an adverse effect on the aviation
industry. In a nutshell, the bargaining power of suppliers is high. Buyer Power
There are 2 direct flights from Dubai to Hong Kong weekly, rest are 35 are via flights. Fares vary
according to demand, but Emirates not being a budget airline its buyers do not really influence the
price. Further more, a Travel Survey concluded that above 60% of the travellers preferred Emirates
Airlines to any other international Airlines (Glass, 2008).
However, one could opt for an indirect flight if tariffs are concerned or if they wish a stop

Compare To Patterns Of Criminal Activity And Violence In...
Compare to patterns of criminal activity and violence in England during this period. Explain
their effect on the development of constitutional law and political freedom in England. Finally,
explain how English Common Law influenced the American criminal justice system. Provide an
example. England has a reasonable repute for cruelty. A mutual awareness of the Middle Ages
is that society was abused by continuous violence and social indifference against fatalities by
the insistent dignity of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse continuously pushing back and
forth across Europe. After reading Chapter 3 in our book. The two patterns of criminal activity
and violence I would like to compare that took place in England during this period are blood feud
s and Trial by Ordeal. Crime control was built on Kindred grouping an individual s relatives
because if they were injured by another group they had their own supporters. Their supports
could bail them out of trouble by paying compensation to the other member in which they killed
or hurt families. If a member gets expelled from group they are deprived from being protected
and this gives the sheriff permission to injure, or kill the expelled individual through the practice
of outlawry. Rather than being called an outlaw, the person is named an adjurer. An individual who
withdraws somberly, which involved him wearing a white robe and cross and being subjected to
all types of persecutions, an abjurer was not permitted to remain in a

The Motive For Metaphor By John Frye
In the first chapter of the book, The Motive for Metaphor , Frye starts off the book by using a
vivid scene of an uninhabited island to illustrate three levels of the human mind and the language
for each of them and further explore the use of imagination in literature. Frye then discusses the
distinction between the arts and the sciences as science begins with the world we have to live in,
accepting its data and trying to explain its laws (p23) while art begins with the world we construct,
not the world we see .(p23) By shedding light on the fundamental difference, Frye argues that
literature begins in the imaginative world and stresses his point of an unprogressive literature world
even though imaginationhas no limits.
Secondly, in The Singing School , Frye argues that literature itself, especially poetry, has a
pedigree that provides writers with a form of convention because Literature can derive its forms
only from itself (p. 42). Frye denies the idea that every literature piece is unique and totally
unrelated to the previous one by forcefully argues that A writer s desire to write can only have
come from previous experience of literature , and he ll start by imitating whatever he s read. (p40)
Meanwhile, even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To bring anything really to life in literature we can t be lifelike: we have to be literature like (p.
91) specifies the attitude that writers must hold, being literature like, which is to be imaginative.
Respectfully, it is necessary to understand the experience of literature for a reader. From Frye s
description of the literature world, readers will plead to his ideas that literature is the essence of
human kind that would bring drastic changes and we should devote ourselves to use the power of
imagination to understand

Analysis Of J. Crew s Website
J. Crew Ease or difficulty of shopping: J. Crew s website allowed for easy shopping. The home
page offered several ways to shop. You had the option of choosing a specific category such as
women s pants, you could browse through the wear to work collection they have put together, or
you could have used the search bar that was provided to search for a specific item. Locating
desired merchandise: I found that locating the desired merchandise, khaki pants, was a little
difficult. Once I navigated to the women s pants section I found that J. Crew had broken up the
pants into the way they fit. I had no way to refine my search on this page. However, when I typed
exactly what merchandise I was looking for in the search bar on the home page I was able to
find the khaki pants quickly. Also, when I used the search bar I was able to refine my search
with tabs reading women, men, girl, or boys. Merchandise and assortments: I found that J. Crew
did not have a large assortment of women s pants. After finding my desired merchandise, I saw
that they offered only three types of khaki pants. What has J. Crew done to exploit the synergies
between different channels? J.Crew has several ways to shop with their retail stores, online store,
catalogs, and direct mail. They have done a few things to exploit the synergies between these
different channels. One noticeable strategy that J. Crew uses is offering deals that can be used only
online and giving students and teachers in store discounts

Economics Is The Fundamental Force
No matter who you are, economics is integral to everything you do. The decisions one makes as a
consumer, employee, and voter impact his or her life in multiple aspects, often in ways that are not

economic opportunities greatly, and thus it is essential to understand how the choices that not only
you, but everyone and everything else makes, will alter your future. Doing so can can greatly

In turn, this will increase the demand for goods needed to make more cars, such as rubber and
metal. In addition, even more workers are hired to make cars (at least for a time), thus creating
even more jobs. In this way, your and everyone else s decision to consume cars has stimulated a
portion of the economy. Perhaps this stimulation results in an opportunity for you to gain a better
job, thus gaining you a higher wage, and raising your standard of living. This is entirely
hypothetical, yet plausible, scenario of how your contribution to the economy as a consumer could
enhance your economic opportunities. Your decision as a consumer can do more than stimulate the
growth of a business; it can contribute to the decline of one as well. For example, perhaps you
decide that you no longer wish to eat meat, and decide to go vegetarian. This may seem like a
relatively personal, and inconsequential decision, yet it is actually very influential. If a large
number of people decided to become vegetarian, the meat industry would take a direct hit:
obviously, there would be less meat demanded, and profits would decrease. Furthermore, as less
people demanded meat, the price would go down, as less people purchased meat and it became
harder to sell. Another effect this newfound vegetarianism would have is due to cross price
elasticity of meat and vegetables. As the demand of meats goes down, the price of vegetables and
grains would likely go up, as more are demanded.

Education Budget Cuts Essay
Education is the most important possession a person must have. It is the keys to success, wealth,
and knowledge. It is the only possession that cannot be taken away from a person and it will open
up the windows of opportunities. Education will help us grow as an individual, have better
understanding of life, and give us a financial stability; but what happens when educationget cuts

As stated above, State Schools Chief Jack O Connell believes that student s education should be

students for productive futures. What he means by this is that we should have an educated,
highly skilled workforce that can compete in the global economy for our state s long term
success, but since our resources are excessively depleted, we cannot succeed in achieving this
necessary. He felt that the governor and legislature was not fair or responsible approach to
closing this budget gap, especially the vital state services such as education. He argued that we

right kind of action. By the way, the right kind of

Persuasive Essay On Youth And Bullying
Coming home after a long day at school, and all you want is to lie down on your bed and check
your social media, have a few laughs at a couple of videos and maybe message a couple of
friends.unfortunately for some people their days do not go so smoothly imagine being verbally
attacked and tormented everyday, you absolutely hate going to school and you do not even enjoy
going home because you know that the bullyingis going to follow you home and continue through
your social media. Bullying in this generation is not taken serious enough and it is time for
everyone to be aware on how dangerous it is.
Its 2017 and bullying still remains the same in fact it has increased. Bullies and mean people
have been around for as long as anyone can remember , but due to newer technologies being
made more ways of bullying have been created which means more ways for people to cyberbully.
Most bullying occurs on instagram, facebook, email etc.. if you scroll through any of your social
medias there is not a chance that you will get to the bottom of the page without seeing a form of
hate.statistics show that eleven percent of adolescents and teenagers report that embarrassing or
damaging photos have been taken of them without their knowledge or consent.sometimes
teenagers take photos of other people without them knowing and share it online and make a
mockery out of them on purpose,to them they may consider it a joke and will laugh about it and
share it around not knowing how much of an impact it could make on that person s well being
and life.there is a difference between a couple of friends joking around and having a little bit of
banter compared to someone who is being targeted and harmed continuously by hurtful words or
embarrassing photos.Teenagers usually do horrible things like this to fit in , be popular or for their
own selfish reasons.
One of the effects of bullying is that it can change the victim s personality. It can cause people
who are normally confident and happy to become self conscious, shy, and unsure. Most of the time
victims of bullying may also become sad or depressed, keeping them from trying new things and
excelling. Once a person has been bullied, they may hesitate to participate in situations

Research Paper On Static Code Analysis
Abstract:
Security and performance are crucial aspects of software quality measurement. Static code
analysis is one of the techniques used for quality assurance of a software. Here we propose a
system which can be used on the salesforce platform for static code analysis of the apex code.
The three components of the tool will step by step evaluate the code and produce final results
which can be used to determine the code quality. This paper goes through various methods that can
be used to develop a static code analysis.
1. Introduction
Salesforce is a cloud application platform. It allows to develop and host applications.
The business logic for salesforce app can be derived from apex programming.

Cppcheck was slowest in execution of almost every application. Another comparison on the basis
of category of vulnerabilities a tool can detect was done and it was found that Cppcheck was able
to detect maximum categories of vulnerabilities introduced by us.
3. Survey of proposed system
By scrutinizing an application s source code without having to actually execute it, it is possible to
find errors prior to production early in the development cycle. static code analysis tool can help
with the code review process by 1. detecting areas in the code that need to be refactored and
simplified, 2. finding areas of the code which may need deeper review or more testing, 3. identify
design issues and help reduce the code complexity so as to improve maintainability, 4. identify
potential software quality issues before the code moves to production.
The proposed system can be used to scan the apex code and it will report vulnerabilities present in
the software. The proposed system is helpful for the developer to scan their code and improve the
code quality.
4. System Architecture
There are 3 main components in our proposed system

  • 2. Yoruba Women Roles The roles of women in Yoruba religion Women s roles have always been obscured in African society. It is very diverse and controversial across African religions. The ideations of equal rights and power for both sexes are nowhere apparent in African culture. The portrayal of its culture is mainly presented from a masculine perspective. Little do we know about women s roles and lives. It is uncommon to see articles or newspapers that focus on feminine views and their social roles in African religion. However, in Yoruba culture, the endeavor of Yoruba women that strive for equality of power can be gradually perceived and attained in certain extents. Women also take part in spiritual aspect where they serve as healers of cultic functionaries. The explanation of Olademo(2012) suggested that healers are individuals who help to restore health to sick people and help them to overcome the undesirable condition. When someone in the community suffers from sickness, it is considered that the person is out of tune with nature (Olademo, 2012, p. 53) which is also a sign that the person is losing the power he attains. This is the reason why healing is crucial in Yoruba religion because it represents the completeness of person, family and the community. Women are predominantly tide with every sector of daily life. Most commonly, women are known as caring, meticulous, and humane. The job of healing is compatible with the characterizations described above of women. The duties of women healers are to remember all of the herb names and its usage, as they are great importance in treating and healing sick people. Furthermore, women healers offer consultation services for sick individuals, which some may require both religious and physical healing. • 3. Argumentative Essay On Multiple Disabilities Disability Everyone desires to live a normal life, without others examining them differently for a disability that they cannot control. Many disabled people are experiencing completely normal lives, when several others are not functioning normal because of a physical or mental disease. People in our world, including the media, do not seem to focus on the disabled people who are living a normal life and are properly functioning. They would rather keep attention on the ones who are stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of their life, and believe that their life is nearly over. Whether someone is disabled or not, they all have the same potential in life, and can all achieve the same goals as someone who is healthy. Mairs, Anaya, and my cousin, Tyler, prove that even though people do look at others differently because of a disability, everyone can still live a normal life. Nancy Mairs is a woman who lived with an incurable disease known as Multiple Sclerosis, however, with the assistance of a cane and wheelchair, she was functioning her life almost identically to she was before. In Mairs essay Disability, she described how she has been examining the media to find similar representations of herself. Mairs found only one example of a woman with Multiple Sclerosis on television, which the main focus of that individual was on how terrible their life was, and how they have no hope to live a normal life. Mairs views this representation as a problem, and believes that physical disability looms pretty large in one s life. But it doesn t devour one wholly (Mairs 13). Mairs continues to explain how she was fairly similar to all the women her age, and how she engaged in the same activities women her age do. Nancy Mairs is a perfect example of a woman who was continuing to live her life normally, even with the drawback of a severe disease. In the essay Mental Illness on Television, Rosie Anaya extended off of Mairs opinions on the media and how they portray the disabled. Anaya pointed out that Mairs essay was released in the year 1987, and since then there has been a widely noticeable acceptance of disabled people within the media. Nowadays, we observe physically disabled people in a wide variety of media, from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As you anticipate watching your favorite sports why not organize a neighborhood competition of your own? There are plenty of fun events you could host for your family and friends. Check out the listing below and pick out the ones you think you will try this summer. 1.Water Cup Racing What s better during the hot summer months than some good old water games? However, our Canadian athletes love to run, whether long distance or short sprints. There are many running events during the 2016 Summer Olympic Games; make sure to tune in to some of the running events as our athletes run for gold. In our version of running we are going to pattern it after the Mud Run. Hopefully you won t get as muddy as the runners in Canada s Mud Run Canada s Dirtiest Trail Run; but you will have fun. The set up for this race will be best in your garden, an empty patch that is not actively growing something. Till up the dirt to loosen it up. Spray it down with water to get it good and damp. Divide the group into two teams to work as a relay. Place a large empty bucket on one end. The teams will start on the end opposite the bucket. The object is to run carrying a cup of water and dump it in the bucket and return. The next player in line will do the same. Keep repeating until one team s bucket is full. Water will obviously slosh out of the cups and make the ground even muddier. End the game by hosing each other s feet off. Although, in the beginning of the 20th century the government of the United States began to question the effects and outcomes of consumption of alcohol on its citizens. • 6. The Correlation Of Mental Health And Substance Use Disorder The Correlation of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Just as complex as the trillions of cells that keep our bodies functioning are the effects and correlations of mental health and substance use disorders. The effect of substance use disorder and psychiatric illnesses impact individuals biologically, psychologically, and sociologically, however, the correlation among mental illnesses and substance use disorders are not clearly defined. Due to a lack of knowledge of substance use as a disorder and the correlation with mental health, the individuals who suffer from these conditions are marginalized and pushed to tattered edges of their social strata. Mental health and substance use disorder can create devastating effects on the individuals as well as their micro, meso, exo, and macrosystems, which perpetuate the negative effects and realities of these individuals. In our current times with the mass amount of substance use the plagues our society, and the continued high volume of mental health, it is critical that we gain an understanding of the correlation between mental health and substance use disorders to better treat and support those whose realties are filled with unknown pain and exile. Mental health and substance use disorder and their affects are clearly related, however, the question that remains is whether or not substance use disorders can create the manifestation of mental illnesses? Many parties such as the conservative party are very opposed to this and many are not quite sure like the NDP. There are arguments for both positions on this topic, such as if this will create drug addicts, kill people if legalized or if it can benefit Canadas economy and the people living here. My mind has changed on the topic of marijuana. I used to be strongly opposed to the thought of the legalization but now I agree more with the Liberal party of Canada and think it should be legalized. I think there should be no guns at all, if there are no guns there are no mass shootings. Although there are many people who need guns for safety like police officers, they should be allowed guns for protection but be checked to make sure they have no homicidal tendencies. It is now known that 31,328 people died from gun violence in 2010, or roughly 1 every 17 minutes. If there were no guns in the first place there would be no statistic. This literary period, known as realism, targets the everyday lives of the individual, including a vast amount of details; which The Yellow Wall Paper by Charlotte Perkins Stetson perfectly illustrates. This psychological short story exemplifies the characteristics of the realismmost effectively by displaying the characters as the essential focus and being critical of gender roles. These units could only transmit from a single sensor channel, and were difficult to assemble due to the use of discrete components. The measurement parameters consisted of temperature, pH or pressure, and the first attempts of conducting real time noninvasive physiological measurements suffered from poor reliability, low sensitivity, and short lifetimes of the devices. • 16. The Importance Of Chemical Communication Chemical communication is the detection and recognition of chemical signals released by other organisms. The chemicals that are released are known as info chemicals and can be directed towards organisms of the same or different species. Info chemicals can be detected by more than one species and the detection of info chemicals is through olfactory and gustatory organs. The utilization of chemical communication is vital to the survival of aquatic organisms due to the nature of the medium which they are surrounded by; water. Over the past century, the rise in large scale industrial activity such as mining and metal processing has leadto an explosion in human productivity. However, the repercussion of this expansion is the disruption of global habitats, resulting in the contamination of freshwater environments by heavy metal pollutants. The level of pollution by heavy metals is further escalated by factors such as acid rain which increase the erosion rate of metals thus leading to the introduction of more heavy metal pollutants (Tchouwou et al. 2012). Heavy metals are classified as metals that are significantly denser than water. Within this group of heavy metals, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, and mercury are among the most critical for their toxicity to a wide variety of organisms at low concentrations. The measurements made in this experiment were done using a ruler, a measuring tape and the wavelength of the laser beam used. The measuring tape was used to measure the distance from the hair to the wall. The ruler was used to measure the distance from the centre of the bright band to the center of the first dark spot which is called the order of minimas. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history, and is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the time and is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are ruling. Art has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these pieces reveals that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these cultures are also heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and influence their subjects. Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarnaperiod in 18th dynasty ancient Egypt, which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in ancient Egypt was vastly different from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton himself. WNV first appeared in the United States in 1999 in New York which was the first incident in the Western Hemisphere. WNV is a mosquito borne virus (arbovirus). It is in the flavivirus family. WNV is a neurotropic virus. WNV is a member of the Japanese encephalitis virus. Severe encephalitis outbreaks in humans have been escalating. The means by which the virus gains access to the brain (also known as neuroinvasion) seems inadequately understood. Suggestions of the hypothesis of WNV leans towards the concept of blood brain barrier disruption and retrograde axonal transport (Suen et al., 2014) The incidence is highest in late summer and early autumn, until the first hard frost does away with the mosquito population for that year. Birds and other animals (such as horses) are the usual reservoir for the infection, and they are involved in its dissemination. Initial viral symptoms may give way to high fever and neck stiffness (meningeal signs). However, as with most forms of encephalitis, it is the confusion and depressed levels of consciousness (stupor) that mark the infection as being of the brain (encephalitis) and not just the meninges. Some women encounter vaginal itching, discharge, pain and irritation, which heighten the risk of passing on the virus to others (Cunningham, 2000). Though there are many signs and symptoms for HIV/AIDS, it is possible for a patient to have little to no symptoms at all within the first ten years of having it (Zuger, 2010). Having no symptoms is more of a curse than a blessing because if the person infected does not know they have anything wrong, they will not seek medical help. This is horrible considering it is better to start getting treated as soon as possible to stay as healthy as possible for longer while having HIV /AIDS. Another reason it would be better to have symptoms is because since it is attacking the immune system, it is destroying the lymph node glands that are trying to fight off the infection and the sooner a person can find out, the sooner they can start salvaging their lymph nodes so they can help fight off future, less severe infections. Not having any signs of HIV/AIDS is harmful because the weaker immune system a person has, the more likely it is for them to get something like pneumonia which is extremely life threatening even in someone who is healthy. I really enjoyed this poem and it made it easy for me to understand the concept of speakers. Lucille Clifton wrote the poem, but wrote it about a experience Lorena Bobbit went through. It was hard for me to understand how a poem could have a speaker other then the author but this one made me see how sometimes the author is not necessarily the speaker. I thought about/authority and how it always insisted/on itself (pg. 57, 2 4). These lines contain the phrase I , but when Clifton uses the phrase I , she herself is not the individual, Lorena Bobbit is meant to be the speaker. This poem was a narrative, it told a story about the even Lorena actually lived through. It really stood out to me a lot and helped me understand the concept on a deeper level. • 39. Fermentation Of Yeast Lab Report The objective of this study is to show the process of fermentation of yeast and the cellular respiration rate that is found in the mitochondria. The first part of the experiment tested fermentation of yeast through the production of CO2 under certain circumstances. Four different food sources were used: glucose, sucrose, starch, and H2O. The temperature varied from 37oC to 4oC and measured on a 5 minute interval. We predicted that the glucose on the highest temperature would produce the most CO2 bubbles. In the alcohol fermentation process glucose is initially used, we predicted that the increase in glucose would produce the most CO2. The second part of the experiment, cellular respirationwas measured from mitochondria found in isolated lima beans. This was done to examine the citric acid cycle that takes place in the mitochondria. Within the citric acid cycle, succinate must be converted to fumarate. The experiment tested the reaction rate of the succinate with the varying mixtures that contained DPIP, a buffer, succinate and the mitochondrial suspension. These mixtures were placed inside the spectrometer where transmittance was measured. We predicted that solution 3 would have the lowest rate of reaction. This is because solution 3 contained the most succinate as well as an considerable amount of the mitochondrial suspension in the same solution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Social Network reveals an ironic story of a computer genius who creates a global social networking website that now benefits over 5 million users, while he is alone in the end because of his cynical, unsympathetic and egocentric personality and behavior. The Social Network is a compelling movie and the movie makers had done a magnificent job using sophisticated cinematography, editing, sound and lighting techniques to attract their audience s attention and affection throughout the whole movie. In addition, they clearly appealed to pathos, ethos and logos to persuade their audience to perceive Mark Zuckerbergs negative personality traits. The film is directed by David Fincher, and the screenplay is written by Aaron Sorkin and adapted from The Accidental Billionaires written by Ben Mezrich. The story portrays the creation of Facebook by the founder, Mark Zuckerberg, in his early twenties, and begins when he was the sophomore at Harvard University. In October 2003, after Zuckerberg broke up with his girlfriend, Erica Albright, he was so angry and created a website known as Facemash to allow male viewers to rate female students based on their attractiveness. The university s network was crashed due to an enormous amount of traffic to the site, and Zuckerberg was penalized because of his willful misconduct. The Motive For Metaphor By John Frye In the first chapter of the book, The Motive for Metaphor , Frye starts off the book by using a vivid scene of an uninhabited island to illustrate three levels of the human mind and the language for each of them and further explore the use of imagination in literature. Frye then discusses the distinction between the arts and the sciences as science begins with the world we have to live in, accepting its data and trying to explain its laws (p23) while art begins with the world we construct, not the world we see .(p23) By shedding light on the fundamental difference, Frye argues that literature begins in the imaginative world and stresses his point of an unprogressive literature world even though imaginationhas no limits. Secondly, in The Singing School , Frye argues that literature itself, especially poetry, has a pedigree that provides writers with a form of convention because Literature can derive its forms only from itself (p. 42). Frye denies the idea that every literature piece is unique and totally unrelated to the previous one by forcefully argues that A writer s desire to write can only have come from previous experience of literature , and he ll start by imitating whatever he s read. If a large number of people decided to become vegetarian, the meat industry would take a direct hit: obviously, there would be less meat demanded, and profits would decrease. Furthermore, as less people demanded meat, the price would go down, as less people purchased meat and it became harder to sell. Another effect this newfound vegetarianism would have is due to cross price elasticity of meat and vegetables.
