Sociology Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of sociology can be both challenging and rewarding. It requires a
deep understanding of sociological concepts, theories, and methodologies, as well as the ability
to critically analyze and interpret social phenomena.
One of the difficulties lies in narrowing down the vast scope of sociology into a specific and
coherent thesis or argument. Sociology encompasses a wide range of topics, including but not
limited to social stratification, culture, deviance, social change, and institutions. Choosing a
focused and compelling topic within this expansive field can be daunting.
Additionally, conducting thorough research is essential for writing a well-informed sociology
essay. This involves exploring academic journals, books, and other scholarly sources to gather
evidence and support for your arguments. Analyzing and synthesizing this information to
construct a coherent and persuasive essay requires time and effort.
Furthermore, writing a sociology essay often involves grappling with complex theoretical
frameworks and perspectives, such as functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism,
feminism, and postmodernism. Understanding these theories and applying them effectively to
analyze real-world social issues can be intellectually challenging.
Moreover, crafting a sociology essay requires strong critical thinking and analytical skills. It's not
just about summarizing existing research but also about critically evaluating it, identifying gaps
or contradictions in the literature, and offering innovative insights or solutions.
Overall, writing a sociology essay demands a combination of research skills, critical thinking
abilities, and a nuanced understanding of sociological concepts and theories. While it can be a
daunting task, it is also an opportunity to engage deeply with pressing social issues and
contribute to the ongoing discourse within the field.

The contrast between Bertie and Lionel Logue in The King s Speech and John Nash
and Charles Herman in A Beautiful Mind.
In The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind the contrast between the characters
whom I will be discussing is evident. The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind are
both highly recommended films. The director makes use of film techniques such as
mise en scene and cinematography as well as the use of subtle but effective imagery
that reflect the emotions that the characters are feeling at a certain point in the film.
The film techniques are used in such a way so as to enhance the viewer s empathy
for the characters as well as to better portray the emotions that the characters are
feeling in the film. Both films make use of contrast which is the state of being
strikingly different from something else in juxtaposition or close association. The
contrast was created in the films to show how uptight, awkward and introverted the
main characters of these films and are by making them have close relationships with a
side character who is outgoing, confident and extraverted.
The King s Speech is my favourite of the two films. The film follows Prince Albert
AKA Bertie as he battles his speech impediment that he had since he was a child of
5 years. He and his wife Elizabeth seek help from Lionel Logue who is an Australian
actor and speech therapist to try and overcome his stammer. The two are very
different in the sense that they come from two very
Analyze Native American Societies
Soc 161 04 19 11 This essay will analyze Native American societies for world view
and cultural and institutional differentiation. In so doing, we will discuss the
possibilities or the lack of endogenously generated social change within American
Indian societies and cultures. Mainly this essay will concentrate on two important
aspects of world view that contribute to conservatism in Native American cultures.
The two aspects are as follows, holistic Native American beliefs versus dualistic
world views, and in so discussing we will illuminate the reader s knowledge about the
differences in views of purity and salvation. The second important aspect is that of the
economic ethic: American Capitalism versus Native American subsistence labor...

For Native Americans the creatures and resources that the Creator has created are not
here for man to use and manipulate, thou Native Americans use the land they do not
believe that man is any more special than any other creature. Native Americans
believe that all living things have a soul were Christians believe that man is the
center of the world and the only creature with a soul. This distinction makes it vary
difficult for Native American communities to accept change and adapt to capitalism.
Another underlining reason as to why change is so difficult to implement in Native
American communities is because every aspect of tribal life is so interconnected that
change in one aspect of life would inadvertently mean change in the entire outlook. In
Native American tribes, all aspects of life, whether it is religion, economy, or polity
are all interlinked. As Professor Champagne said , Native American tribes are like
onions, they are layers upon layers centered on creation stories and ceremonies. A
good example of this is the Hopi community. Clans and families within villages
organize Hopi religious, ceremonial, and political leadership. Although the particular
way in which Hopi institutions are constructed is unique to them, a pattern of
undifferentiation is observed among them because religious, political, economic, and
kinship structures are tightly interrelated and

While HIPEC can be appropriate for a wide variety of patients, in general, the
cancer needs to be limited to the abdominal cavity for HIPEC to be used, Dr.
Labow explained, adding that it can be combined with traditional chemotherapy as
well. He cautions that patients must be generally healthy to undergo HIPEC with
cytoreduction, as the procedure can be long and complex. Another key to HIPEC
treatment is the need to be able to remove all of the visible cancer and then
administer the chemotherapy. If the disease is too extensive then HIPEC may not
be possible. HIPEC enables us to administer a high concentration of chemotherapy
right where the cancer cells live, rather than circulate it all around the body, Dr.
Labow said. This allows for fewer side effects and better killing of the cancer cells.
It can also reduce the need for regular chemotherapy, although it is usually given in
addition to regular chemo, and not instead of it. It gives us a new option to fight the
most difficult to treat cancers. Want a referral to see Dr. Labow? Check out our free

Reflection About Suffering
Introduction
Christians know other Christians are prone to suffering. Non Christians I have
spoken to believe that Christians have a happy life. Non believers believe we do
not endure suffering simply because in their reality, God is personified as a genie;
Christians can simply pray for what they desire in life; examples including money,
power, wealth, and the Lord will grant those desires immediately. However,
Christians know suffering is inevitable. From a theological standpoint, suffering is
defined as: the experience of physical pain and mental distress. ( suffering ) If
individuals were to evaluate suffering from a Christian perspective, we must realize
categories that come with suffering. First, suffering is the consequence of the flawed
nature of creation. Second, suffering is the direct consequence of one s violation of
God s laws. Third, suffering can be good for our faith, and finally suffering is
embedded in truth, Christianity, and within the church. Historical Development
Before looking at the categories which formulate suffering, I would like to look at
Christian authors who agreed with my categories of suffering and who also sparked
my inspiration for evaluating suffering from a believer s viewpoint.
The first author is John Bunyan. His book, The Pilgrim s Progress tells the story of
Christian, a pilgrim who journeys from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City.
The City of Destruction emulates the world; Celestial City heaven. Christian was
Cheerleading Budget
This report is organized by beginning with the breakdown of the University of South
Florida intercollegiate athletics budget, then by describing particular aspects that
have an impact on the cheerleading program as a whole.
Within the Universities operating budget for the 2016 2017 school year a breakdown
of the athletics budget is available. The University provides 2.37% of its
$1,695,827,240 budget ( Operating Budget ). This is $40,140,918 for the entire USF
system, which is then broken down into different aspects such as athletics
administration, event management, marketing, business offices, and the enrichment
center ( Operating Budget ). The remainder is then distributed between athletic teams
including coaching salary, game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One member of the team, Michaels Jones, tells us this, and explains how difficult it
is to fit these fundraisers into her already busy schedule. Having the cheerleaders, and
band at football games is an important part of the atmosphere and is one aspects many
students consider when choosing a school.
Scholarships are something that are often associated with the thought of college
athletics, and are used as a way to bring individuals to a particular university. These
are an important part of building a team of the best athletes possible. At the
University of South Florida, scholarship opportunities for cheerleaders are very
minimal. With $24,000 yearly given to this team for this purpose, $500 maximum is
available to each student ( Operating Budget ). Due to this lack of funding, many
members of the team must have outside jobs in order to make do throughout the
school year. Having a job, as well as participating in the 25+ hours of cheerleading
related activities, and maintaining eligibility GPA can put a large strain on the athlete
( USF Spirit Squads ).
Recruitment budget is also an important aspect of continual growth of a team and a
way to bring new students to the university. Third year veteran, Michaela Jones,
provided insight into the recruitment aspect of USF

It is I believe traditional to give an insight into the people whose marriage you have

She has of course always brightened up our lives. You never did learn to turn lights

She is a lovely girl and deserves a good husband. You re very lucky that she s

you even raid the fridge for my chocolate. You are also partially deaf which is a great

Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a
ray of light comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is
reflected and part of it is absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an
incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces off. The law of reflection states that
the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in respect to the
normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located
in the same plane.
Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two
transparent mediums, reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when
rays of light bend across the boundary into the second medium which causes a change
in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the slower the light.
Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher
index medium to a lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the
normal, so the exit angle is greater than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence
increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total internal reflection takes place when
the angle of incidence is greater than the

An Analysis Of Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift

The Irony in Cannibalism Humor in serious topics can bring the light side of things
and can also bring more attention than just talking about them. In Modest Proposal
written by Jonathan Swift, he uses humor to talk about the famine that was
happening back then and proposes an economical idea. By using the word Proposal
in his title, he gives a reasonably suggestion to aid the Irish, Swift mentions them one
by one the many benefits and counters the objections many may have, uses rhetorical
reasoning and proves his humanitarian views. Swift has written in detail over the
degree of poverty in IReland, he draws attention to the causes of it and proves in
great detail that his Proposal will work in which ways it does work. Jonathan Swift
had a rough childhood only raised by his mother. Swift s mother did not have a
steady income and struggled to raise Swift all by her self. Swift was later passed
on to his dad s brother who was wealthy. Transitioning from poor to wealthy was
difficult for Swift but it let him see both sides of the world. Swift worked as
English statesman for 10 years and helped for political errands (The
Biography.com Editors 2015). In 1712, he moved back to Ireland as soon as he saw
that Tories would fall from power. He has written many famous writings, including

The Role Of Religion In The Vampire Chronicles By Anne
Rice
The Vampire Lestat, the second book in The Vampire Chronicles, is a dark
romantic novel written by Anne Rice. It is an autobiographical story told by Lestat
de Lioncourt as a response to Interview with the Vampire. He wrote it in hopes that
Louis would read it and return to him and as an act of rebellion against vampire
secrecy rules. Much like Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat also
questions the vampire s role in religion. In The Vampire Lestat, Rice challenges the
concept of religion with the Children of Darkness.
The Children of Darkness were bound together by the Dark Ways. They believed if
they failed to follow the Dark Ways, then they would burn in hell. They lived
miserable lives underneath a cemetery in Paris, where they worshiped Satan. When
an old woman threatened Lestat and Gabrielle with the wrath of God, Lestat told
the vampires the only beings giving them trouble for the way they lived were the
coven. They were paralyzed for a moment. Why hadn t we been struck dead when
we entered the churches? How could we be what we were? (214). The Children of
Darkness were in shock because Lestat s statement challenged the information they
knew as true. God or Satan had not taken action as they believed, and they began to
doubt their faith. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After he had dismissed the entire coven because all of the Dark Ways were proven
untrue, he spoke with Lestat, who wanted to know what the purpose of the coven
was. Lestat was enraged without understanding why until he read Armand s mind.
He was no sublime spirit who understood what his followers had not. He had not
believed it. He had believed in it, a thousand times worse! (227). Lestat was
infuriated because Armand had manipulated a large group of vampires into living
their immortal lives in terrible conditions. The Dark Ways had been forbidden the
experiences of immortality and instead lived like corpses under a

Some children and teen who play video games excessively may become isolated
and because of that they may make there live as adults even more difficult. They
may fail to learn how to act in a business setting or how to communicate with other

known that video games are a sedentary activity and during which most children
and teen tend to snack and drink soda ( Minds and bodies at risk ). With all the
unhealthy food they could get diabetes. Addiction is another problem with video
games which could lead to more health problems. When you are addicted to video
games you may become sleep deprived because you spend all night games. Staying
up all night will make you school performance go down dramatically and you
attention span will also go down. If you are very addicted to video games and you

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a disorder that causes difficulty
staying focused and paying attention, difficulty controlling behavior and
hyperactivity. ADHD has three main subtypes. The first subtype is predominantly
hyperactive impulsive which means the child must fidget or squirm have trouble
being quite, always moving and cannot sit still. The second subtype is predominantly
inattentive, children who have this subtype have a small probability of acting out.
They may sit quietly but are not paying attention. The last subtype is combined
hyperactive impulsive and inattentive. Attention deficit hyperactivity is one of the
most common childhood disorders that can continue into adulthood. Each subtype
has 9 symptoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treatments can relieve many of the symptoms, but there is no cure for the disorder.
Hygiene and diet can be beneficial in reducing the symptoms of a child with ADHD.
Parents who have children with this disorder try to reduce the child s sugar intake
and also their intake of processed foods. Nutritional supplements can be a treatment
for ADHD based on the assumption that certain nutrients are crucial for normal brain
functioning. Macronutrients (amino acids, lipids, and carbohydrates, and
micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) have propped as treatment for ADHD
(Spetie 278). When a patient is under the care of a physician their weight and vital
signs are monitored on a routinely bases in order to insure there are no drastic
changes. The most common type of medication used for treating attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder is a Stimulant . Stimulants have a calming effect on children
with ADHD. Medication reduces children s hyperactivity and impulsivity which can
improve their ability to focus work, learn and live a normal life. Medications for
ADHD can come in different forms, such as pills, liquid, skin patches, and capsules.
Some of the medications that are widely used are Adderall (amphetamine) approved
for children age 3 and older. Another common medication is Concerta
(methylphenidate which is long acting. These medications can have different side
effects on the patient, so it may take trial and error and close monitoring of the patient
to determine what medication is best for the

population, we probably should.
PIC or Prison Industrial Complex is the term used to reflect the rising prison
population in the US and other countries. Yes, even here in Canada.
It s interesting to note that the US has more people behind bars than China. A
country with 5 times the population yet America is considered the land of the free .
The majority of people in jail are Black or Hispanic. Also interesting to note: US
federal law cracks the whip down on the possession of rock cocaine (crack). Less

In 2013, there were 133,000 state and federal prisoners confined in privately owned

The Flaws In The Movie Kingdom Of Heaven
The movie Kingdom of Heaven is a very good movie. It is biased off of the
crusades more specifically the second crusade. However, no matter how good any
movie is there is always flaws, this one is no different. The amount of flaws I am
able to choose from is tremendous. I have categorized them into three main topics.
First I will be talking about the false things that have to do with Balian himself.
Next will be the weapons them self s and how they fire/are used and outcomes of
them. Last I will state many of the other false tings in the movie and back up why
they are false. In the movie there are many incorrect elements about Balian and
surrounding Balian. One of the larger issues I can see is that he is not from
France. As Helena P. Schrader says Balian was born in the crusader Kingdom of
Jerusalem. The movie started out with a scene of Balian burying his dead wife.

First up is the longbow, a great invention but sadly it was not yet of this time.
Believe it or not the long bow wasn t on the Europe main land until many years
after it was invented. According to Max Perham the longbow was invented by the
Celts in Wales around 1180, but was not really used by the English military until the
1300 s. Also according to Virginia Ream the army s attacking would not just
bombard the castle walls. There were people that would dig under the castle s walls
to weaken them then they would fire at that area to bring them down. I found more
information on this mining strategy on medieval castles.net. The large battle scenes
were almost funny on how the catapults and trebuchets they had fired. It looked more
like a cannon firing the projectiles. Nevertheless, these machines fire more like a

Negligent Tort
Negligence is a tort law and it falls within the civil law which means a civil wrong
has been committed (Tort and Negligence, 2012). The American civil justice system,
defines the law of torts as situations that occur when the wrongful conduct of one
party causes harm to another individual (WiseGeek, 2003). The responsible party
fails to act as a reasonable person to someone to whom she or he owes a duty, as
required by law under the circumstances. Negligent torts are not committed purposely,

Small injuries or damages may occur when products malfunction, death may occur,
or there could be damage done to ones property. The company could face possible
lawsuits and in order to prove negligence, an individual must have had a duty of

A company must always be ready to defend itself in all the possible issues that may
arise and cause any form of lawsuit (WiseGeek, 2003).
Recalled Product
Even though businesses do not like to recall its products, but when there is a
safety problem involved a recall takes precedent over rather a company will lose
money. Recalls are necessary to protect consumers from injuries, and to save lives.
Recalls are beneficial to everyone when expedited effectively. From the act of
negligence a company could publicly be exposed which could result in profit loss
due to consumers being afraid or refuse to purchase the product, and the stock
values could fall if the company is publicly traded. This can be very damaging for a
business and could ultimately force the company to go out of business (Seaquist,
2012).

Cover Letter Benefits
A cover letter is necessary and very helpful for employers when filtering through

The Drug Prohibition Of The United States Of America
The cohorts of drug prohibition argue that the benefits of the prohibition are self
evident and undeniable. The basis of this assumption argument is that without
prohibition the consumption of drug would skyrocket, and therefore, lead to
disastrous outcomes. However, there is no evidence on the commonly held belief.
The empirical evidence that exists does not support the notion of souring drug
consumption. For instance, in the Netherland and Switzerland, where marijuana is
legalized, the consumption rate is lower than in the United States of America, where
consumption of Marijuana is prohibited in most of the states. This study argues for
the legalization of the consumption of drugs and decriminalization of possession and
use of drugs in the United States of America.
Drugs were legal for many years before the 1914 Harrison Act. The period of
massive availability of drugs and the consumption of the same was in the 19th
century (Defeis 101). For the better part of the century morphine, cocaine, and
opium were legally available at drugstores as well as grocery stores without
prescription (O donnell et al. 66). What is significant is that the period was not
characterized by drug paralyzed workers or drug crazed criminals, rather it was a
period marked by unprecedented economic development and productivity (Defeis
102).
Whereas there were many powerful organizations that called for the prohibition or
suppression of alcoholic stimulants, there were no anti opiate organizations
A Clean Well Lighted Place Comparison
The short stories A Clean, Well Lighted Place and A Place I ve Never Been have
different settings and plots, but both have similar characters that lead parallel
lives. In A Clean, Well Lighted Place, a character referred to as the young waiter is
a selfish man who cannot sympathize with those who contrasting lives to his own.
The character Nathan in A Place I ve Never Been is selfish and naive. His woe is
me attitude creates tension in the story; while a tough decision he must make drives
the plot. The selfishness, naivety, and age of the young waiter and Nathan all create
tension that propels the plots. Without the young waiter in A Clean, Well Lighted
Place, there would be little plot or symbolism. The young waiter is of course young,
but also self seeking and inconsiderate. Throughout the entire plot development of
the story, his only interest is in leaving the bar to return home to his girlfriend. He
has no regard for the old man drinking in the bar. One exchange of dialogue between

No one but you counts (Leavitt, pp. 1056). This is evidence of Nathan either being
selfish or naive about Celia s needs. Either way, Nathan is constantly preventing
Celia from moving on with her own life. Since the story is narrated in first person
from Celia s point of view, it is hard for the reader to know exactly why he acts the
way he does. When Celia helps Nathan clean his destroyed apartment is another
example of how Nathan s selfish and immature nature plays a role in plot
development. When Nathan returns from Europe to find his apartment in shambles,
he immediately calls Celia to rescue him. Nathan s dependency on Celia is a sign of
immaturity. It is never revealed why Nathan refuses the test or has a continued
reliance on Celia, but it can be inferred, from Celia s thoughts, that it is because
Nathan is selfish and immature. However, without Nathan s imperfections and
personality traits, there would not be much of a
Essay on Dream Act
Taking U.S citizens rights away or is it just an opportunity to illegal aliens? This is
one of the many arguments people have been stating about the dream act. This
program was passed to help illegal immigrants grow in education. It was not to
acquire U.S citizen s rights, in fact it was passed because many immigrants want to
give back to the country that has offered them many things. This program also
known as DACA was proposed by the president Barack Obama and has been applied
to many illegal immigrants since 2010. It is an aid for immigrant students that want
to go top collegeand stay in school. Being part of the Dream Act is not giving illegal
aliens U.S citizen s rights, it is allowing young immigrants to have the opportunity to

Also the dream act is helpful because it lends them financial aid and they get a
social security to then pay the country back. While they get educated the country is
getting a reward as well. Like in the case of Carla Chavarria, she works in graphic
design and still goes to college during the night time and with the money she gets she
is paying her college tuition (Gonzales). This is what every student in the United
States faces right after high school. They get a job and go to college. But,
unfortunately some immigrants stop going to school because they cannot afford
the tuition and the books. They get a job in the fields and work because they do
not get hired for being resident. The hope they had to achieve their dreams just
fade away because they know they can not get educated like everybody else. When
the dream act was passed many immigrants got faith and very happy because their
dreams were going to actually become a reality. In a way this is very helpful to
illegal immigrants that want to be successful and live a stable life. Education is a
really big part of life that is why every student deserves to get educated and have a
career. Just because the kid s parents made the mistake to bring them to the United
States when they were small education should not be dined to them. Instead for living
here all their life and learning all the things from here in
A Flight That Changed My Life
Most people always went through an event that has a great impact on their lives,
changing the very manner in which they view life and perceive it. My story might
not outstanding to other people, but for me, it was a spectacular changed. For
years in my life, I would never forget the first time I had my first flight. My family
and I immigrated to a new country that I never thought of. Because of that flight,
my life had changed from one culture to a different culture in just 24 hours on the
airplane It was winter in 2006 when my family and I decided to move out of the
country. One week before the departure date, my mum told me that her, my brother,

Ballad Of Birmingham Rhetorical Analysis
Ballad of Birmingham
In the poem Ballad of Birmingham, by Dudley Randall, written in 1969, Mr.
Randall uses of irony to describes the events of the mothers decision, and also
her concern for the welfare of her darling little child. It seems odd that this
child would even know what a freedom march is, but this would be considered
normal back in the early 1960 s, when Mr. Martin Luther King Jr. had rallies and
freedom marches to free the African Americanpeople from discrimination and
segregation (Hunter 6). It also seems very ironic that the young child is acting
like an adult in this particular situation (Hunter 12). I think the mother would
be the one who would want to got to the march to free her people, not the child.
In the poem Ballad of Birmingham , by Dudley Randall, written in 1969, Mr.
Randall uses tone and irony to describe the events of the mothers decisions, and
as well as her concern for her child s well being.
In the first stanza irony is used in order to make
reading the poem more interesting. The situation in this first stanza is also
very important. The little child is in a desperate situation and wants to help
better the lives of the African Americans. Randall also focuses on specific
culture here. The speaker is allowing the reader to make a mental picture of one
specific march in Birmingham (Hunter 17). But, you know as well as I, that with
peace marches and rallies comes violence and hostility. This is exactly what the
little girls mother is afraid of, this is why she will not let her go to the
march. It also seems weird that her mother is so sure that going to church,
instead of going to the march, will be the best thing for her. (Hunter 19 20).
Typically, a church is to be a very safe and sacred place where no one would
imagine a bombing or any other type of violence to happen. What is ironic about
this is that going to church turns out to be the worst place for her to be
(Hunter 21). Something else that strikes me funny is that her mother dresses her
in her daughter in her best clothes to go to church with her. What is ironic
here is that she ended up wearing them to her funeral instead (Hunter 26). There
is also a shift
My Original Teaching Philosophy Statement
I honestly would not make any changes to my original teaching philosophy statement
because I believe that after reading through the entire phycology book, the things I
read only supported the things I stated in my philosophy statement. When writing my
philosophy statement I had not taken any previous educationclasses to aid my original
teachingphilosophy but I have been working with kids my entire life and so I have
seen first hand what things work with children and what does not. This does not by
any means mean that I know everything and have all the answers to teaching, it
simply means I have had a little bit of a head start with working with kids. You learn
my trying something out, analyzing if it worked, the reflecting on that and changing
it. Even before taking this class and reading that in the text I was already practicing
this when I was the Sunday schoolteacher for 2 3 year olds at my dads church.
Another thing that gave me ideas on my teaching philosophy statement was by
being in a class and have an amazing teacher, or a not so amazing teacher. Even
without the knowledge I acquired in this chorus I was able to see the things my
teacher did in a class and reflect on if, for me as a student, they were helpful. These
two reasons are why I believe my reasoning behind teacher philosophy statement is
sound.
An example of something that I wrote in my original statement that was later backed
up by the book was when I stated that every child is unique and therefore each

which is sometimes when they do not eat any food or drink but down in front of

Depression Because some one has lost their appetite could be a sign of depression
and this is a common with people with dementia. There are treaments which could

nurse for guidance.
Communication A person with demnetia has a problem with identifying that their
are hungry or do not like the food that they have been give. They may refuse to eat
or hold the food in their mouth. By given a person with dementia choice of what
their would like to eat, use prompts or pictures could help.
Pain The person could be in pain and find eating to diffcult or uncomfortable. Ask
them if their mouth is sore or their could have a problem with their dentures or their

Analysis Of The Moustache By Robert Cormier
If you were given the opportunity to slow your childhood down and keep the
freedom of youth, you would right? It s not quite as easy for the main character of
the story, The Moustache, written by Robert Cormier. This short story read by the
8th grade class consisted of a 17 year old boy named Mike who insisted on growing
a moustache. He went to visit his grandma in her nursing home, and she thought
Mike, her grandson, was her husband, because of the moustache he had and the
older man look it gave him. Due to this, Mike realized that there is no reason to
rush growing up and he should live his free life as long as possible. The author of
this thought provoking text uses author s craft techniques such as symbolism and
word choice to reveal the theme, childhood and the freedoms that come with it,
should not be rushed but savored. Childhood and the freedoms that come with it,
should not be rushed but savored, is a well presented theme in the story, The
Moustache, and is shown through multiple author s craft techniques. For starters,
the writer used various types of symbolism to present the theme. The speedometer
in this story symbolizes freedom that Mike now wants, as he is starting to
recognize his childhood crumbling before his eyes. My ambition was to see the
speedometer hit seventy five was a quote from the story in the first paragraph on
page 2. This was mentioned before the trip had happened, when he was focused on
growing up, instead of savoring his last drops of
Narrative Essay About My Birthday
On December 1, 2000, Kylie woke up singing it s my birthday, oh yeah. She woke
everyone up in the house with her horrible singing. The night before, she had
invited her friend, Katie, to spend the night for her birthday. After the girls
showered and got ready, Kylie s mom, Amanda, took Kylie and Katie to eat
breakfast at a little cafe not far from their home. As always, they all ordered a piece
of toast with avocado, a scrambled egg and a small vanilla latte. When they finished
with breakfast, they went to the mall to buy some party decorations. Also, Amanda
needed to buy Kylie a birthday present. Kylie asked her mom if they could go to

mom replies that is up to her mom. Amanda says she can, so after they pick up a

pizza even though it was very greasy. That night, Kylie began feeling nauseated and
she called her mom to come get her. She slept during the ride home and Amanda
carried her inside. Kylie slept the whole next day. Her family began to worry, so they
called the doctor. Her heart was still beating however she would not wake up.
For the next 20 years, Kylie never woke up. She had missed so much of her life.
The hospital came and checked on her two times a week. Her heart continued to

said What are we going to do? Our baby still has not woke up? Her birthday is
tomorrow. Her husband responded Oh my! Wait, I have an idea. What if we
decorate the house for us, the same as we did for her sweet 16 birthday. Maybe she
will wake up then. Her parents started decorating the house the same as they had 20
years ago. The next morning,
Benefits Of Post-Secondary Education
Post secondary education has a multitude of purposes. Many people have their own
opinions about whether you should continue with school later, but most will benefit
from a Higher Education than just High School. This is beneficial because you can
further yourself in life, find better jobs with higher educationand you will receive
more freedom if you choose a school somewhere other than your home town. It s
believed that people will get much further in life if they go to a post secondary
school. It s not that they won t go anywhere if you choose a job with only a high
schooldiploma, but you can acquire a specialized job if you go to school to study for
it. Post secondary will allow you to go that one extra step so that you can
Anti Gun Control
A 2012 study found that there an estimated 310 million guns in the U.S. They are
comprised of 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns. In
a population of 314 million people, that equates to almost one gun per person.
There are 8 million firearms produced globally each year, of which 4.5 million are
purchased by Americans. Now while those statistics are staggering, it s only fair to
mention that only 20% of the population owns 65% of the U.S. firepower. Most
people argue that it is the second amendment right to keep and bear arms, but what
does the constitution actually say? A well regulated militia, being necessary to the
security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be
infringed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S. makes up 5% of the world s population, but owns between 35% and 50%
of the world s civilian firearms (Kiger, 2003). Yes Finland and Switzerland have
high gun ownership rates too but there crime rates are much lower and they
enforce stricter gun control laws. For example, In Finland police have the
authority to deny or revoke a person s gun license if the applicant is convicted of a
crime that they feel may imply they wouldn t be a safe gun owner. They also don t
allow large capacity magazines and any gun that is take outside of the owner s
home must be unloaded and stored in a locked cabinet. As a final note, Finland
requires you to list your reason for gun ownership and they do not consider self
defense as a valid reason. Now most Americans cite self defense as their reason for
owning a gun, but how often are firearms actually used for that purpose? A study
found that guns are used for defensive measures approximately 2.5 million times
each year, that s only 1% use of a gun for defensive purposes. To add to that, people
who use guns are 4.5% more likely to be shot in an assault than those who are
unarmed (Kiger,
U.s. Government And Federal Reserve
In the late 2007, early 2008 the United States and the world was hit with the most
serious economic downturn since The Great Depression in 1929. During this time
the Federal Reserve played a huge role in assuring that it would not turn into the
second Great Depression. In this paper, we will be discussing what the Federal
Reserve did during this time including a discussion of our nation s three main
economic goals which are GDP, employment, and inflation. My goal is to describe the

So what exactly happened to the subprime mortgage market that caused all of this?
It actually goes back to 1998 with the Glass Steagall legislation, which separated
regular banks and investment banks was repealed in 1998. This allowed banks,
whose deposits were guaranteed by the FDIC to engage in highly risky business
because they were guaranteed their deposits up to $250,000 per depositor.
Following the dot com bust in 2000, the Federal Reserve dropped rates to 1 percent
and kept them there for an extended period. This drop in rates caused bank
managers to have to go after higher yielding bonds because they could no longer
make decent yields off of municipal bonds or treasury bonds. They, like Wall Street,
got creative with lending, and went after high yield mortgage backed securities like
subprime mortgages which were mostly dominated by non bank originators but
because of the demand, many banks and private sector lenders jumped on board to
increase profits. Because of this downfall of the housing market, the U.S. economy
fell along with other markets across the country. Homeowners had mortgages higher
than what their homes were valued at, the decline in housing prices caused many
people to default on their mortgages which caused the values of mortgage backed
securities and CDO s to collapse, leaving banks and their financial institutions holding
those securities with a lower value of

Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi And Night By Elie
Wiesel
Survival in Auschwitz by Primo Levi and Night by Elie Wiesel are two tragic
stories about the experience of these Holocaust survivors during the horrors of the
second world war. In the 1940 s it was a very difficult time for Jews who were
victimized by the German Nazis and sent to concentration camps, such as
Auschwitz, where conditions were worse than imaginable. Elie first entered a
concentration camp when he was 12, along with his father, mother, and three
sisters. Levi, an Italian jew, was 24 when he was sent to the camps for
participating in a resistance group, but unlike Wiesel, did not have his family by
his side. Levi, despite his bitter character, acquires hope from the humanity and
compassion of others while Wiesel, even with his strong relationship with his
father, can t maintain his desire to hope for survival or alliances. As the world
around the authors begins to collapse, they are faced with evil and the uncertainty
of whether to face the events with optimism or pessimism. Levi begins his
experience on a more negative note as he describes what it s like to be on the
bottom. I have learnt that I am haftling. My number is 174517, (page 27). Levi has
lost hope in his own identity. He isn t optimistic or pessimistic, he is indifferent
because he feels he is no longer a man, but a property of the Nazis. Levi also
demonstrates negativity during his stay at Ka Be. As he sits and watches the Jews do
their usual morning ritual and march he describes how the Germans

In the book The outsiders by S.E. Hinton there are two social classes The Greasers,
and the Socs. Even though The Greasers are known as poor people, and trouble
makers, and Socs as rich prep boys. The book shows each Greaser as a nice person,
and the Socs they mention as bullies. The book The Outsiders describes the
Greasers houses as run down, but most of the Greasers work or go to school. It
also describes Ponyboy, and Darry as smart boys that went to school, and have
dreams of being successful. The book describes the Socs as rich boys, with parents
that have good jobs with lots of money, and they live in big houses and drive good
cars. Being rich or poor does not determine personal altitude in life because Ponyboy

Maybe the two different worlds we live in weren t so different. We saw the same
sunset (Hinton 41). This means that both Socs, and Greasers both have problems,
and the same interests. Even though they come from different neighborhoods, they
still breath the same air, went to the same school, have the same interests such as
going to the movies, and have the same types of problems. In the book The
Outsiders, Ponyboy talks about how the rich Socs girls acted, and how the poor
Greaser girls acted. When Ponyboy first met Cherry, and Marcia he said it was nice
to hangout, and talk to the soc girls. He said they were nothing like the greaser
girls, and he didn t like greaser girls. Ponyboy said I quit worrying about
everything, and thought about how nice it was to sit with a girl without having to
listen to her swear or to beat her off with a club. (Hinton 35). Ponyboy was talking
about Cherry a rich Soc girl being different then the poor Greaser girls. He feels
like they are easier to talk to and easier to have a conversation with. He likes that
they don t swear, and are smart. He talks about how the poor Greaser girls swear,
are disrespectful, are always fighting, and are always troublemakers by flirting with
other guys. Another example of the rich (Socs) vs poor (Greasers) is there
education. In the book The Outsiders, it talks about how the Greasers (the poor) don
t speak right. It also talks about how the Greasers, and Socs went to the same school.
A Feminist Reading of the Tempest
William Shakespeare s The Tempest provides dialogue that portrays the social
expectations and stereotypes imposed upon women in Elizabethan times. Even
though the play has only one primary female character, Miranda, the play also
includes another women; Sycorax, although she does not play as large a roll. During
many scenes, the play illustrates the characteristics that represent the ideal woman
within Elizabethan society. These characteristics support the fact that men considered
women as a mere object that they had the luxury of owning and were nowhere near
equal to them. Feminists can interpret the play as a depiction of the sexist treatment
of women and would disagree with many of the characteristics and expectations that
make Miranda... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stephano has no sense of respect toward women. In his song he is talking about a
woman named Kate that none of the sailors like because she speaks her mind to
them but yet they sleep with her as they please, as if she is an object to be passed
around. In the scene when Prospero and Caliban are fighting, Prospero accuses
Caliban of trying to rape his daughter, Miranda. Prospero says, Thou most lying
slave,/Whom stripes may move, not kindness! I have used thee,/Filth as thou art,
with humane care, and lodged thee/In mine own cell, till thou dist seek to violate
/The honor of my child (1.2.348 351). Caliban responds. O ho! Oh ho! Wouldn t

him attempting to rape his daughter. Caliban is telling Prospero that if he had not
stopped him from raping Miranda, he would have continued with the act. He does
not have any sense of remorse as he tells Prospero that he would have impregnated
Miranda, filling the island with many children. In today s society, rape is a serious
offense that is punishable by many years in jail. When Caliban was caught trying
to rape Miranda, Prospero simply forced him to leave the house. This moment can
be an example of how women are punished far worse than men for their crimes.
Sycorax was banished and left to die because of her witchcraft, whereas Prospero

Hard Drive Advantages And Disadvantages
The conventional turning hard drive is the fundamental nonvolatile stockpiling on
a PC. That is, data on it doesn t leave when you kill the framework, as is valid for
information put away in RAM. A hard drives is basically a metal platter with an
attractive covering that stores your information, whether climate reports from the
most recent century, a superior quality duplicate of the Star Wars set of three, or
your advanced music gathering. A read/compose head on an arm gets to the
information while the platters are turning. A SSD does practically everything a
hard drive does, yet information is rather put away on interconnected glimmer
memory chips that hold the information notwithstanding when there s no force
present. The chips can either be for all time introduced on the framework s
motherboard (as on some little portable PCs and ultrabooks), on a PCI Express
(PCIe) card (in some top of the line workstations), or in a crate that is estimated,
molded, and wired to opening in for a tablet or desktop s hard drive (basic on
everything else). These blaze memory chips are of an alternate sort than is utilized
as a part of USB thumb drives, and are ordinarily quicker and more solid. SSDs are
therefore more costly than USB thumb drives of the same limits. Note:... Show more

Will probably discover 500GB to 1TB units as essential drives in frameworks.
While 500GB is viewed as a base hard drive in 2016, valuing concerns can push that
down to 128GB for lower estimated SSD based frameworks. Media clients will
require much more, with 1TB to 4TB drives normal in top of the line frameworks.
Essentially, the more stockpiling limit, the more stuff you can continue your PC.
Cloud based (Internet) stockpiling might be useful for lodging records you plan to
share among your telephone, tablet, and PC, however nearby capacity is less costly,
and you just need to purchase it

day, I wonder if I could have ever been truly prepared for them. I believed I had
everything lined out and timed to take us right up to the time their session was
over. However, that was not the case because the scouts knew a considerable
amount more about the subject than I realized. I feel honored to have been able to
work with such intelligent groups of scouts. During the first session, I quickly
realized that these Cub Scouts knew an impressive amount about the information I
was presenting, so I forced myself to change how I was presenting the material. I
engaged the scouts into the material by asking each one tons of questions about
what they already knew. Then I made sure they stayed busy with hands on activities
that really engrossed them into the material. I believe that when I had to change my
lesson plans on the spot, I did decently well. I was able to bettergrab the scouts
attention and help them learn more information than before they walked into the
session. One of the most challenging ideas I tried to teach to the scouts would have
to be about geographical surroundings and the geographical materials that make up
the buildings. I feel as if I did not know enough about the subject matter, or how to
present it correctly in a way that was truly benefiting the scouts. However, the scout
leaders were

Soluble lithium compounds are readily absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract but
not the skin; distribution is rapid to the liver and kidneys but slower to other organ
systems
(Jaeger et al., 1985). Lithium crosses the human placenta
(ACGIH, 1991) and can also be taken up by infants through breast milk. Lithium is
not metabolized and is excreted primarily in the urine.
Lithium is distributed rapidly to the liver and kidneys following ingestion, but
equilibrium between serum and brain, bone and muscle is reached after 8 10 days
(Jaeger et al.,
1985). Both the pituitary and thyroid glands concentrate lithium
(Ellenhorn and Barceloux, 1988). During chronic therapy, lithium levels in the brain
are equal to those in the serum (Schou,
1976). In overdose patients, the lithium concentration in brain tissue may remain high
even after blood serum levels are reduced
(Jaeger et al., 1985). Lithium can be present in breast milk at
30 100% of the concentration in the mother s serum (Arena,
1986).Lithium is not bound to plasma proteins and does not

Kraft is a worldwide food and beverage company active in more than 150 countries
with annual revenues of $48 billion while Cadbury is a worldwide producer and
seller of chocolate and sugar confectionery products in over 60 countries. As stated by
the European Commission: Both Kraft and Cadbury are strong players in the

In addition, the parties have a combined aggregate worldwide turnover of more than
EUR 5 billion, moreover, each of them has a communitywide turnover in excess of
EUR 250 million but none of the two has more than two third of their aggregate
communitywide turnover within one and the same Member State. For these reasons,
the case was considered to have a Community dimension and therefore, to be relevant.
The commission was not concerned about the entire activity of the two groups, but
focused its attention on the chocolate confectionery market and to a lesser extent, on
the sugar confectionery and chocolate drinks, where the two parties presented
overlapping activities, large market shares, and in some Member States, namely
Romania and Poland, the two were brands were regarded as close substitutes and no
other similar products were registered in the reference market.
The commission based its decision on the results on various economic analysis and
market research undertaken with the explicit purpose of assessing the market power
of the two group before and after the merger.
On 7 December 2009 Kraft Food proposed a first commitment package in order to

Demographic Changes In The United States Essay
The informative synopsis of how the demographic changes are taking place in
states with the regard to the workforce, states and regions are benefiting from these
changes, areas which are declining and why, as well as, the projections of the birth
rates and aging in the states over the next twenty five years. The economic
implications of these changes have on our states. Then finally how this all is related
to Federalism. The demographic changes that are taken place in the northern and
midwest states regarding the workforce have started to see a declining rate as the
baby boomers in those regions are reaching retirement age. Since women joined the
workforce, they are waiting to have children or not as many children. The reason that
most women are waiting to have children is that of college or getting their careers
going. The northern and midwest areas have their younger workforce looking for
jobs in the southern regions like Texas and Florida where the weather is warmer all
year. The states and regions that are benefiting from the decline in the northern and
midwest are the southern states. These northern and midwest states have declined
because of the colder climate then the southern states offer. This is not something that
the northern and midwest regions can make better to attract younger working class....

Therefore, the birth rate calculated by the researcher is only about 1.86 children
per women. As the baby boomer are reaching retirement year, the birth rate needs to
be at 2.08 per women. There would need to be an incentive for families to have
more children to bring the workforce to be balanced. Over the next twenty five
years, seventy two percent of our workforce will be at the retirement
Positive Impact Of Queen Elizabeth 1
Queen Elizabeth 1 made a positive impact on England during her reign. However,
those who governed before were not as contributively towards the nation as
Elizabeth was and thus can show that Elizabeth helped restore England back to its
power. King Henry the v111 was crowned king at the age of eighteen. Henry
consumed himself with the thought and desire of producing a son to rule the
throne after him. The traditional view of a king was to rule a kingdom and sort
out the injustice that the people wanted justice for. Not only did a king control the
laws, politics and economics of their kingdom, the king was seen as strong enough
to help lead their country into battles and come back with a victory. Henry was
under pressure to make the Tudor family a successful line of Kings to help carry
on a legacy, daughters were not part of his plan. Henry desperately seeked a male
heir to the throne, during his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon, Catherine gave
birth to a girl, Mary 1, in 1516. Henry was not satisfied by the gender which
Catherine provided. Henrys idea was to get divorced to Catherine and marry again
to get the son that he desired for. However, the Catholic Pope refused to allow the
divorce between Henry and Catherine. With the refusal of the divorce, Henry broke
England from the Roman Catholics and began his own... Show more content on

were in need. As well as numerous rebellions from the Essex rebellion and by the

How Anions Take Electrons
Cations take electrons so they are shown as a rectangle with an indent which
symbolizes a slot for an electron to be taken. If they require multiple electrons to be
given to them, they are shown as a rectangle with multiple indents, one for each
needed electron. Anions give electrons so they are shown as a rectangle with a tab
which symbolizes an extra electronthat they want to give away. If the anion have
multiple electrons to give away it is shown as a rectangle with multiple tabs on it,
one for each electron to give away. The tabs from the anions would fit into the
indent of the cations and it would form a rectangle with no tabs or indents as they
have no more electrons to giveaway and does not have the need to take any more. If
there are tabs on the piece of paper, it must be a cation (giving off a negative charge).

The positive charge from the anions matches the negative charge of the cations. This
caused the charge to become neutral, having no negative charge and no positive
charge. This relates to the chemical formula because for example if a cation has a
negative charge of two, it either needs an anion with a positive charge of two or, two
anions with a positive charge of one. Cation s do not change names from the original
element while occasionally having a roman numeral in parentheses to signify the
higher oxidation number. Anions include the ide suffix. Not all metals have the
roman numeral in
Agar Pieces Lab
The claim to this Agar Pieces lab is that the cells that have a larger surface area to
volume ratio are more efficient at diffusing essential nutrients. Another solution, is
the rate of diffusion is related to cell size. Nutrients diffuse at a faster rate through
small cells than they do through large cells. In this lab of Agar gel, the purpose of
this experiment is to find the surface area and volume of the cell that may affect
the ability of the molecule to be able to diffuse the cellular space. The Agar gel is
like ideal as the cells. Variables needs to be inconsistent variable and the other
variable need to be keep as consistent variable that relies on the other variable The

Kant s Notion Of Good
Kant s notion of good;
For Kant, he starts out by saying, Nothing in the world or out of it! can possibly be
conceived that could be called good without qualification except a GOOD WILL
(Kant, 2008). Kant further explains this statement through the first and second
chapter. He initially says that many things can be considered good such as;
judgments, resoluteness, and perseverance can be undoubtedly good but can
become bad if the person s character isn t good or if their will in using them isn t
good. He further says that a will is not good because of what it leads to but because it
s good in itself.
Kant introduces the word duty where he says one can only perform an action from
duty if that action is what he directly wanted to do. He leads to the conclusion of the
definition of duty after describing two cases where one might perform an action that
could be mistaken as out of duty and they include actions done with some kind of
benefit to the doer or where one does an action that in is in accord with duty but he
doesn t want to perform that action but another which requires him to perform that
action.
One formulation can come out of the two types of love Kant talks about, the
pathological love that lies in the direction of the person s feelings and practical love
that lies in the will and principles of action. He makes a second proposition, an action
doesn t get its moral value from the purpose through it but from the maxim that it
involves . Take an example of a

Sociology Essay. What Separates Sociology from Common Sense Essay Example Topics and ...

  • 1. Sociology Essay Writing an essay on the topic of sociology can be both challenging and rewarding. It requires a deep understanding of sociological concepts, theories, and methodologies, as well as the ability to critically analyze and interpret social phenomena. One of the difficulties lies in narrowing down the vast scope of sociology into a specific and coherent thesis or argument. Sociology encompasses a wide range of topics, including but not limited to social stratification, culture, deviance, social change, and institutions. Choosing a focused and compelling topic within this expansive field can be daunting. Additionally, conducting thorough research is essential for writing a well-informed sociology essay. This involves exploring academic journals, books, and other scholarly sources to gather evidence and support for your arguments. Analyzing and synthesizing this information to construct a coherent and persuasive essay requires time and effort. Furthermore, writing a sociology essay often involves grappling with complex theoretical frameworks and perspectives, such as functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, feminism, and postmodernism. Understanding these theories and applying them effectively to analyze real-world social issues can be intellectually challenging. Moreover, crafting a sociology essay requires strong critical thinking and analytical skills. It's not just about summarizing existing research but also about critically evaluating it, identifying gaps or contradictions in the literature, and offering innovative insights or solutions. Overall, writing a sociology essay demands a combination of research skills, critical thinking abilities, and a nuanced understanding of sociological concepts and theories. In The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind the contrast between the characters whom I will be discussing is evident. The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind are both highly recommended films. The director makes use of film techniques such as mise en scene and cinematography as well as the use of subtle but effective imagery that reflect the emotions that the characters are feeling at a certain point in the film. The film techniques are used in such a way so as to enhance the viewer s empathy for the characters as well as to better portray the emotions that the characters are feeling in the film. Both films make use of contrast which is the state of being strikingly different from something else in juxtaposition or close association. The contrast was created in the films to show how uptight, awkward and introverted the main characters of these films and are by making them have close relationships with a side character who is outgoing, confident and extraverted. The King s Speech is my favourite of the two films. The film follows Prince Albert AKA Bertie as he battles his speech impediment that he had since he was a child of 5 years. He and his wife Elizabeth seek help from Lionel Logue who is an Australian actor and speech therapist to try and overcome his stammer. The two are very different in the sense that they come from two very

In so doing, we will discuss the possibilities or the lack of endogenously generated social change within American Indian societies and cultures. Mainly this essay will concentrate on two important aspects of world view that contribute to conservatism in Native American cultures. The two aspects are as follows, holistic Native American beliefs versus dualistic world views, and in so discussing we will illuminate the reader s knowledge about the differences in views of purity and salvation. The second important aspect is that of the economic ethic: American Capitalism versus Native American subsistence labor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Native Americans the creatures and resources that the Creator has created are not here for man to use and manipulate, thou Native Americans use the land they do not believe that man is any more special than any other creature. Native Americans believe that all living things have a soul were Christians believe that man is the center of the world and the only creature with a soul. This distinction makes it vary difficult for Native American communities to accept change and adapt to capitalism. Another underlining reason as to why change is so difficult to implement in Native American communities is because every aspect of tribal life is so interconnected that change in one aspect of life would inadvertently mean change in the entire outlook. In Native American tribes, all aspects of life, whether it is religion, economy, or polity are all interlinked. As Professor Champagne said , Native American tribes are like onions, they are layers upon layers centered on creation stories and ceremonies. A good example of this is the Hopi community. Clans and families within villages organize Hopi religious, ceremonial, and political leadership. Although the particular way in which Hopi institutions are constructed is unique to them, a pattern of undifferentiation is observed among them because religious, political, economic, and kinship structures are tightly interrelated and

While HIPEC can be appropriate for a wide variety of patients, in general, the cancer needs to be limited to the abdominal cavity for HIPEC to be used, Dr. Labow explained, adding that it can be combined with traditional chemotherapy as well. He cautions that patients must be generally healthy to undergo HIPEC with cytoreduction, as the procedure can be long and complex. Another key to HIPEC treatment is the need to be able to remove all of the visible cancer and then administer the chemotherapy. If the disease is too extensive then HIPEC may not be possible. HIPEC enables us to administer a high concentration of chemotherapy right where the cancer cells live, rather than circulate it all around the body, Dr. Labow said. This allows for fewer side effects and better killing of the cancer cells. It can also reduce the need for regular chemotherapy, although it is usually given in addition to regular chemo, and not instead of it. It gives us a new option to fight the most difficult to treat cancers. Want a referral to see Dr. Labow? Check out our free Doctor Match

  • 6. Reflection About Suffering Introduction Christians know other Christians are prone to suffering. Non Christians I have spoken to believe that Christians have a happy life. Non believers believe we do not endure suffering simply because in their reality, God is personified as a genie; Christians can simply pray for what they desire in life; examples including money, power, wealth, and the Lord will grant those desires immediately. However, Christians know suffering is inevitable. From a theological standpoint, suffering is defined as: the experience of physical pain and mental distress. ( suffering ) If individuals were to evaluate suffering from a Christian perspective, we must realize categories that come with suffering. First, suffering is the consequence of the flawed nature of creation. Second, suffering is the direct consequence of one s violation of God s laws. Third, suffering can be good for our faith, and finally suffering is embedded in truth, Christianity, and within the church. Historical Development Before looking at the categories which formulate suffering, I would like to look at Christian authors who agreed with my categories of suffering and who also sparked my inspiration for evaluating suffering from a believer s viewpoint. The first author is John Bunyan. His book, The Pilgrim s Progress tells the story of Christian, a pilgrim who journeys from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. The City of Destruction emulates the world; Celestial City heaven. Christian was

Scholarships are something that are often associated with the thought of college athletics, and are used as a way to bring individuals to a particular university. These are an important part of building a team of the best athletes possible. At the University of South Florida, scholarship opportunities for cheerleaders are very minimal. With $24,000 yearly given to this team for this purpose, $500 maximum is available to each student ( Operating Budget ). Due to this lack of funding, many members of the team must have outside jobs in order to make do throughout the school year. Critical Angle And Total Internal Reflection Critical Angle Total Internal Reflection Kate Graham Partner: Samantha Dekart Monday, November 9, 2015 SNC2D Ms. Vink Purpose: See attached sheet, labelled SNC2D Lab Sheet . Related Theory: Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a ray of light comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is reflected and part of it is absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces off. The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in respect to the normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located in the same plane. Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two transparent mediums, reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when rays of light bend across the boundary into the second medium which causes a change in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the slower the light. Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher index medium to a lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the normal, so the exit angle is greater than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total internal reflection takes place when the angle of incidence is greater than the

In Modest Proposal written by Jonathan Swift, he uses humor to talk about the famine that was happening back then and proposes an economical idea. By using the word Proposal in his title, he gives a reasonably suggestion to aid the Irish, Swift mentions them one by one the many benefits and counters the objections many may have, uses rhetorical reasoning and proves his humanitarian views. Swift has written in detail over the degree of poverty in IReland, he draws attention to the causes of it and proves in great detail that his Proposal will work in which ways it does work. Jonathan Swift had a rough childhood only raised by his mother. Swift s mother did not have a steady income and struggled to raise Swift all by her self. Swift was later passed on to his dad s brother who was wealthy. Transitioning from poor to wealthy was difficult for Swift but it let him see both sides of the world. It is an autobiographical story told by Lestat de Lioncourt as a response to Interview with the Vampire. He wrote it in hopes that Louis would read it and return to him and as an act of rebellion against vampire secrecy rules. Much like Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat also questions the vampire s role in religion. In The Vampire Lestat, Rice challenges the concept of religion with the Children of Darkness. The Children of Darkness were bound together by the Dark Ways. They believed if they failed to follow the Dark Ways, then they would burn in hell. They lived miserable lives underneath a cemetery in Paris, where they worshiped Satan. When an old woman threatened Lestat and Gabrielle with the wrath of God, Lestat told the vampires the only beings giving them trouble for the way they lived were the coven. They were paralyzed for a moment. Why hadn t we been struck dead when we entered the churches? How could we be what we were? (214). The basis of this assumption argument is that without prohibition the consumption of drug would skyrocket, and therefore, lead to disastrous outcomes. However, there is no evidence on the commonly held belief. The empirical evidence that exists does not support the notion of souring drug consumption. For instance, in the Netherland and Switzerland, where marijuana is legalized, the consumption rate is lower than in the United States of America, where consumption of Marijuana is prohibited in most of the states. This study argues for the legalization of the consumption of drugs and decriminalization of possession and use of drugs in the United States of America. Drugs were legal for many years before the 1914 Harrison Act. The period of massive availability of drugs and the consumption of the same was in the 19th century (Defeis 101). It is never revealed why Nathan refuses the test or has a continued reliance on Celia, but it can be inferred, from Celia s thoughts, that it is because Nathan is selfish and immature. However, without Nathan s imperfections and personality traits, there would not be much of a
  • 22. Essay on Dream Act Taking U.S citizens rights away or is it just an opportunity to illegal aliens? This is one of the many arguments people have been stating about the dream act. This program was passed to help illegal immigrants grow in education. It was not to acquire U.S citizen s rights, in fact it was passed because many immigrants want to give back to the country that has offered them many things. This program also known as DACA was proposed by the president Barack Obama and has been applied to many illegal immigrants since 2010. It is an aid for immigrant students that want to go top collegeand stay in school. Also the dream act is helpful because it lends them financial aid and they get a social security to then pay the country back. While they get educated the country is getting a reward as well. Like in the case of Carla Chavarria, she works in graphic design and still goes to college during the night time and with the money she gets she is paying her college tuition (Gonzales). This is what every student in the United States faces right after high school. They get a job and go to college. But, unfortunately some immigrants stop going to school because they cannot afford the tuition and the books. They get a job in the fields and work because they do not get hired for being resident. The hope they had to achieve their dreams just fade away because they know they can not get educated like everybody else. When the dream act was passed many immigrants got faith and very happy because their dreams were going to actually become a reality. In a way this is very helpful to illegal immigrants that want to be successful and live a stable life. Education is a really big part of life that is why every student deserves to get educated and have a career. Just because the kid s parents made the mistake to bring them to the United States when they were small education should not be dined to them. Instead for living here all their life and learning all the things from here in

  • 24. Ballad Of Birmingham Rhetorical Analysis Ballad of Birmingham In the poem Ballad of Birmingham, by Dudley Randall, written in 1969, Mr. Randall uses of irony to describes the events of the mothers decision, and also her concern for the welfare of her darling little child. It seems odd that this child would even know what a freedom march is, but this would be considered normal back in the early 1960 s, when Mr. Martin Luther King Jr. had rallies and freedom marches to free the African Americanpeople from discrimination and segregation (Hunter 6). It also seems very ironic that the young child is acting like an adult in this particular situation (Hunter 12). I think the mother would be the one who would want to got to the march to free her people, not the child. In the poem Ballad of Birmingham , by Dudley Randall, written in 1969, Mr. Randall uses tone and irony to describe the events of the mothers decisions, and as well as her concern for her child s well being. In the first stanza irony is used in order to make reading the poem more interesting. The situation in this first stanza is also very important. The little child is in a desperate situation and wants to help better the lives of the African Americans. Randall also focuses on specific culture here. The speaker is allowing the reader to make a mental picture of one specific march in Birmingham (Hunter 17). But, you know as well as I, that with peace marches and rallies comes violence and hostility. This is exactly what the little girls mother is afraid of, this is why she will not let her go to the march. It also seems weird that her mother is so sure that going to church,
  • 25. instead of going to the march, will be the best thing for her. (Hunter 19 20). Typically, a church is to be a very safe and sacred place where no one would imagine a bombing or any other type of violence to happen. What is ironic about this is that going to church turns out to be the worst place for her to be (Hunter 21). Something else that strikes me funny is that her mother dresses her in her daughter in her best clothes to go to church with her. What is ironic here is that she ended up wearing them to her funeral instead (Hunter 26). There is also a shift

My Original Teaching Philosophy Statement I honestly would not make any changes to my original teaching philosophy statement because I believe that after reading through the entire phycology book, the things I read only supported the things I stated in my philosophy statement. When writing my philosophy statement I had not taken any previous educationclasses to aid my original teachingphilosophy but I have been working with kids my entire life and so I have seen first hand what things work with children and what does not. This does not by any means mean that I know everything and have all the answers to teaching, it simply means I have had a little bit of a head start with working with kids. You learn my trying something out, analyzing if it worked, the reflecting on that and changing it. Even before taking this class and reading that in the text I was already practicing this when I was the Sunday schoolteacher for 2 3 year olds at my dads church. Another thing that gave me ideas on my teaching philosophy statement was by being in a class and have an amazing teacher, or a not so amazing teacher. Even without the knowledge I acquired in this chorus I was able to see the things my teacher did in a class and reflect on if, for me as a student, they were helpful. These two reasons are why I believe my reasoning behind teacher philosophy statement is sound. An example of something that I wrote in my original statement that was later backed up by the book was when I stated that every child is unique and therefore each

It s not quite as easy for the main character of the story, The Moustache, written by Robert Cormier. This short story read by the 8th grade class consisted of a 17 year old boy named Mike who insisted on growing a moustache. He went to visit his grandma in her nursing home, and she thought Mike, her grandson, was her husband, because of the moustache he had and the older man look it gave him. Due to this, Mike realized that there is no reason to rush growing up and he should live his free life as long as possible. The author of this thought provoking text uses author s craft techniques such as symbolism and word choice to reveal the theme, childhood and the freedoms that come with it, should not be rushed but savored. Childhood and the freedoms that come with it, should not be rushed but savored, is a well presented theme in the story, The Moustache, and is shown through multiple author s craft techniques. For starters, the writer used various types of symbolism to present the theme. It actually goes back to 1998 with the Glass Steagall legislation, which separated regular banks and investment banks was repealed in 1998. This allowed banks, whose deposits were guaranteed by the FDIC to engage in highly risky business because they were guaranteed their deposits up to $250,000 per depositor. Following the dot com bust in 2000, the Federal Reserve dropped rates to 1 percent and kept them there for an extended period. This drop in rates caused bank managers to have to go after higher yielding bonds because they could no longer make decent yields off of municipal bonds or treasury bonds. They, like Wall Street, got creative with lending, and went after high yield mortgage backed securities like subprime mortgages which were mostly dominated by non bank originators but because of the demand, many banks and private sector lenders jumped on board to increase profits. Because of this downfall of the housing market, the U.S. economy fell along with other markets across the country. Homeowners had mortgages higher than what their homes were valued at, the decline in housing prices caused many people to default on their mortgages which caused the values of mortgage backed securities and CDO s to collapse, leaving banks and their financial institutions holding those securities with a lower value of

Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi And Night By Elie Wiesel Survival in Auschwitz by Primo Levi and Night by Elie Wiesel are two tragic stories about the experience of these Holocaust survivors during the horrors of the second world war. In the 1940 s it was a very difficult time for Jews who were victimized by the German Nazis and sent to concentration camps, such as Auschwitz, where conditions were worse than imaginable. Elie first entered a concentration camp when he was 12, along with his father, mother, and three sisters. Levi, an Italian jew, was 24 when he was sent to the camps for participating in a resistance group, but unlike Wiesel, did not have his family by his side. Demographic Changes In The United States Essay The informative synopsis of how the demographic changes are taking place in states with the regard to the workforce, states and regions are benefiting from these changes, areas which are declining and why, as well as, the projections of the birth rates and aging in the states over the next twenty five years. The economic implications of these changes have on our states. Then finally how this all is related to Federalism. The demographic changes that are taken place in the northern and midwest states regarding the workforce have started to see a declining rate as the baby boomers in those regions are reaching retirement age. Since women joined the workforce, they are waiting to have children or not as many children. The reason that most women are waiting to have children is that of college or getting their careers going. The northern and midwest areas have their younger workforce looking for jobs in the southern regions like Texas and Florida where the weather is warmer all year. The states and regions that are benefiting from the decline in the northern and midwest are the southern states. These northern and midwest states have declined because of the colder climate then the southern states offer. This is not something that the northern and midwest regions can make better to attract younger working class.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the birth rate calculated by the researcher is only about 1.86 children per women. As the baby boomer are reaching retirement year, the birth rate needs to be at 2.08 per women. There would need to be an incentive for families to have more children to bring the workforce to be balanced. Over the next twenty five years, seventy two percent of our workforce will be at the retirement
  • 45. Positive Impact Of Queen Elizabeth 1 Queen Elizabeth 1 made a positive impact on England during her reign. However, those who governed before were not as contributively towards the nation as Elizabeth was and thus can show that Elizabeth helped restore England back to its power. King Henry the v111 was crowned king at the age of eighteen. Henry consumed himself with the thought and desire of producing a son to rule the throne after him. The traditional view of a king was to rule a kingdom and sort out the injustice that the people wanted justice for. Not only did a king control the laws, politics and economics of their kingdom, the king was seen as strong enough to help lead their country into battles and come back with a victory. Henry was under pressure to make the Tudor family a successful line of Kings to help carry on a legacy, daughters were not part of his plan. Henry desperately seeked a male heir to the throne, during his first marriage to Catherine of Aragon, Catherine gave birth to a girl, Mary 1, in 1516. Henry was not satisfied by the gender which Catherine provided. Henrys idea was to get divorced to Catherine and marry again to get the son that he desired for. If they require multiple electrons to be given to them, they are shown as a rectangle with multiple indents, one for each needed electron. Anions give electrons so they are shown as a rectangle with a tab which symbolizes an extra electronthat they want to give away. If the anion have multiple electrons to give away it is shown as a rectangle with multiple tabs on it, one for each electron to give away. The tabs from the anions would fit into the indent of the cations and it would form a rectangle with no tabs or indents as they have no more electrons to giveaway and does not have the need to take any more. If there are tabs on the piece of paper, it must be a cation (giving off a negative charge). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The positive charge from the anions matches the negative charge of the cations. This caused the charge to become neutral, having no negative charge and no positive charge. This relates to the chemical formula because for example if a cation has a negative charge of two, it either needs an anion with a positive charge of two or, two anions with a positive charge of one. Cation s do not change names from the original element while occasionally having a roman numeral in parentheses to signify the higher oxidation number. Anions include the ide suffix. Not all metals have the roman numeral in

Another solution, is the rate of diffusion is related to cell size. Nutrients diffuse at a faster rate through small cells than they do through large cells. In this lab of Agar gel, the purpose of this experiment is to find the surface area and volume of the cell that may affect the ability of the molecule to be able to diffuse the cellular space. The Agar gel is like ideal as the cells. Variables needs to be inconsistent variable and the other variable need to be keep as consistent variable that relies on the other variable The trail for the first is that is a smallest volume (1cm

  • 49. Kant s Notion Of Good Kant s notion of good; For Kant, he starts out by saying, Nothing in the world or out of it! can possibly be conceived that could be called good without qualification except a GOOD WILL (Kant, 2008). Kant further explains this statement through the first and second chapter. He initially says that many things can be considered good such as; judgments, resoluteness, and perseverance can be undoubtedly good but can become bad if the person s character isn t good or if their will in using them isn t good. He further says that a will is not good because of what it leads to but because it s good in itself. Kant introduces the word duty where he says one can only perform an action from duty if that action is what he directly wanted to do. He leads to the conclusion of the definition of duty after describing two cases where one might perform an action that could be mistaken as out of duty and they include actions done with some kind of benefit to the doer or where one does an action that in is in accord with duty but he doesn t want to perform that action but another which requires him to perform that action. One formulation can come out of the two types of love Kant talks about, the pathological love that lies in the direction of the person s feelings and practical love that lies in the will and principles of action. He makes a second proposition, an action doesn t get its moral value from the purpose through it but from the maxim that it involves . Take an example of a
