The suite of tools works across operating systems and devices and provides capabilities for communication, organization, collaboration, and content creation for education.

Google Docs allows users to create, store, share and collaborate on documents online. Students can work on files from any computer with an internet connection and get instant feedback from collaborators and teachers. Teachers can provide timely feedback during the writing process and collaborate with colleagues. Examples of uses in the classroom include elementary students completing book reports to share with parents, middle school students collaborating on a science experiment across schools, and high school economics students monitoring stock portfolios in spreadsheets.
Crib Docs
Google Docs allows users to create, store, share and collaborate on documents online. Students can work on assignments from any computer with an internet connection and teachers can provide feedback during the writing process. At a high school, journalism students keep their entire writing portfolios in Google Docs, allowing the teacher to easily track student progress and the development of writing assignments through revisions. Students seamlessly work on assignments at home, school and elsewhere, which has led to improvements in writing quality.
Collaborative Writing And Critique
Wikis can be used for teacher and student collaboration by creating shared documents or networks of documents. They allow groups like grade levels or course teams to gather and share information for projects. Wikis also provide a platform for students to collect and share work with each other. Etherpad and Google Docs are useful single document collaboration tools. Etherpad offers simultaneous editing and chatting while working on a document. Google Docs allows sharing and collaboration on documents but requires sign-in and lacks an integrated chat function currently. Google Docs and other apps provide many possibilities for collaborative document creation, responding to student work, and creating student portfolios.
