CHOSEN TARGET AUDIENCE
DYLAN OAKES
GENRE
• Previously, I have chosen the ‘mainstream/popular’ music genres for
my music magazine.
• Therefore, I will be obviously targeting people who are interested in
these genres.
• I will carry this out by using artists (including their clothes, make-up
etc.), colours, typography etc. to indicate the genres in the music
magazine.
DEMOGRAPHIC
• For the demographic side of my target audience, I am going to pick a
fairly wide demographic but not too wide that it would be risky.
• I am going to pick the demographic of 16-22.
• This is quite a wide demographic but it covers people who would most
likely be interested in these mainstream genres. Also this
demographic would most likely have people who would want to read a
music magazine.
• Choosing this demographic will also allow me to make a more mature
type of magazine.
GENDER
• My music magazine won’t be gender-specific.
• I have made this decision to be able to keep my audience as wide as
possible as well as keeping it fairly narrow.
• To carry this out I will use colours, artists, incentives, cover lines etc.
that appeal to both men and women. For examples I won’t use pink
and purple as they’re stereotypically women colours and therefore the
magazine wouldn’t appeal to men as well.
SOCIAL CLASS
• Using the ABC1 social classes I will be targeting the B, C1, C2, D and
E classes as they will be the most likely to buy my music magazine.
Most likely people in the A demographic wouldn’t appeal to this music
and probably not buy music magazines.
• Using these social classes will also allow me to define the price of my
magazine. I have almost every income bracket so I will pick a price
that is directly down the middle and affordable for all.

Chosen Target Audience

  • 2. GENRE • Previously, I have chosen the ‘mainstream/popular’ music genres for my music magazine. • Therefore, I will be obviously targeting people who are interested in these genres. • I will carry this out by using artists (including their clothes, make-up etc.), colours, typography etc. to indicate the genres in the music magazine.
  • 3. DEMOGRAPHIC • For the demographic side of my target audience, I am going to pick a fairly wide demographic but not too wide that it would be risky. • I am going to pick the demographic of 16-22. • This is quite a wide demographic but it covers people who would most likely be interested in these mainstream genres. Also this demographic would most likely have people who would want to read a music magazine. • Choosing this demographic will also allow me to make a more mature type of magazine.
  • 4. GENDER • My music magazine won’t be gender-specific. • I have made this decision to be able to keep my audience as wide as possible as well as keeping it fairly narrow. • To carry this out I will use colours, artists, incentives, cover lines etc. that appeal to both men and women. For examples I won’t use pink and purple as they’re stereotypically women colours and therefore the magazine wouldn’t appeal to men as well.
  • 5. SOCIAL CLASS • Using the ABC1 social classes I will be targeting the B, C1, C2, D and E classes as they will be the most likely to buy my music magazine. Most likely people in the A demographic wouldn’t appeal to this music and probably not buy music magazines. • Using these social classes will also allow me to define the price of my magazine. I have almost every income bracket so I will pick a price that is directly down the middle and affordable for all.
