1. Representation of my media product:
The target audience for my magazine is teenagers and young adults around the
age of 15-30 who enjoy a range of artists and genres of music. I came to the
conclusion of this by looking at my questionnaire results, which showed that
most people did not have a favourite genre therefore I decided to break
magazine conventions and not have a particular genre for my magazine which is
relevant to myself also therefore more enjoyable to create.
Gender
• Although most of the males in my questionnaires read music magazines I
still decided to make my magazine appeal to both genders, as there was
still a number of females who enjoyed reading magazines.
• As it was mostly males who read music magazines I felt a female model on
my front cover would be necessary.
• I didn’t make my model stand in a seductive pose as I felt it would not be
appropriate for my younger target audience, however my model would
still appeal to a male audience as she is an attractive woman.
• My female audience may also enjoy this front cover, as it is not highly
seductive or raunchy, it is the right balance.
Sexuality
• My magazine is not specific to any sexuality, it can attract anyone. I chose
basic colours like red, black and white in order to not stereotype any
sexuality, gay or lesbian.
Class
• My magazine is aimed at working class primarily however I have not
disregarded other classes as anyone can enjoy music.
• The language used is partly formal and informal therefore could appeal to
any class
