Rhetorical Analysis Of Bay Leaves And Cinnamon Sticks
A Rhetorical Analysis of Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks: Life is Relationships are a vital
component in one s everyday life. Moreover, in Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks: Life is by Thelma
B. Thompson, Millie, the main character in the book, has faced multiple obstacles dealing with
relationships. Thompson uses a unique method of combining relationships with three different appeal
schemes, ethos, pathos, logos. In fact, there are three major types of connections recycled throughout
the book; which include, Romantic relationships, friendships, and family relationships. Furthermore,
her relationships have steered her life in different directions since she was nine years old, and without
them she definitely would not be the hardworking, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had to save every hard earned dime she could toward her house, her place, with her name on the
title. (Thompson 11). This passage shows the reader that Millie is determined to provide for her family
no matter what; literally, she left Jamaica and her family to make a better living for them. This also
shows her selfless attitude, her willingness to go without just to see her family prevail; this establishes
credibility with the reader considering they think Millie is not truthful in her plans. Another example
takes place between Millie and the church, they want one tenth of Millie s earnings, but she tells them
that money is all she has to live on, and God has spoken to her in a dream; Millicent, you are a hard
working girl. Follow me. Follow the light to your new house (Thompson 13). In other words, this
passage is not only persuasion to the reader, but the church as well; this is because God provided proof
in the dream. Now, not only does she believe in her ambition, but God reassures her. Ultimately,
Thompson definitely leaves an imprint in the reader s mind that Millie is about her business and
values her relationship with her family so much that she is willing to do whatever it takes to see them
prevail.
Secondly, following ethos is the appeal of pathos. Millie has endured more suffering than anyone in
the book, for example, the

The Democracy Of The United States Government

Voter Turnout In a democracy citizens are permitted to have a significant amount of influence on
government through the election of government officials. This is known as Direct Democracy, which
means that the citizens play a significant role on the laws and policies of the land. Although the liberty
of voting is available, why is the voter turnout so low? Many other countries have a much larger vote
turnout than the United States. The reason for this varies; some major points would be the
Demographics, voting laws, and political favoritism/corruption that affect the voter turnout. When the
people vote for a public figure they expect them to succumb to the will of the people, and not big ...

Those who campaign have a hard time reaching out to the young community. Most college students do
not own a television set, therefore are not well aware of current political affairs. In part many young
Americans feel that their vote does not matter, or that whatever they must vote for doesn t interest or
affect them in any way. Older age groups that vote tend to be more educated on politics, because they
tend to be much better educated. Ones views on politics can vary depending on the type of
environment you grew up in. The agents of socialization in one s life play a big role on determining
how one feels towards politics. Parental views on politics influence their children s future views on
politics greatly. Ethnicity and socio economic status have a huge impact on the voter turnout. Political
knowledge and perception is no different than the area you live in or the quality of food you eat, it s all
based on wealth and social status. Those who make enough money to barely survive tend to have little
to no knowledge on politics. These groups tend to be minority groups. The vast majority of groups
that tend to vote are strictly but not definitively well educated white families. Although this is not
always the case, certain ethnic groups and minority groups vote when they have interest in what they
are voting for. For example, in the 2012 election with Obama, for the first time ever the overall black
voter turnout exceeded that of the white voter turnout, the idea of

Continuity Irish Republican Army
The Continuity Irish Republican Army operates in Northern Ireland where it is currently under the
control of United Kingdom. The CIRA are a splinter group from the larger Provincial Irish Republican
Army (PIRA). The CIRA has been recognized as a splinter faction off of the real Irish Republican
Army ever since the middle of the 1980 s (Mueller, 2015). The group has not been conducting attacks
in recent years because they do not have many members. The CIRA is thought to have committed the
attack that took place in 1987, where eleven people were killed in the Northern Ireland town called
Enniskillen (Fletcher, 2008, para. 7).
Groups Objectives
The CIRA s main objective is to rid Northern Ireland of British influence. According to Pike, (2004)
Continuity refers to the groups belief that it is carrying on the original IRA goal of forcing the British
out of Northern Ireland . The reason they are able to commit attacks is because of the amount of
support that they received from various places. The CIRA are known to get funding and weapons from
supporters in the United States. They have also received weapons and materials from the real IRA
operating out of the Balkans (Pike, 2004). The amount of members that an organization has does not
disqualify it for being labeled as a terrorist organization by the United States. The CIRA were
recognized as a terrorist group by the United States on July 13th 2004 by the Department of State
(Pike, 2004).

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limestone Caves
and minimized?
A Cave:
Caves, also known as karsts, are very unique and are a special part of our natural environment. Caves
form over a long period of time, 1000 of years (National Geographic, 2015). Caves are made up of
rock, ranging from volcanic to limestone. Limestone caves are more pleasing to the eye as they
usually contain more decoration such as stalactites, Shawls and Straws. As limestone caves are more
decorated they are more prone to damage and deformation (Science Kids, 2016).
Damaged caused by humans in caves:
Humans are causing great damage to limestone caves, some of which the caves themself cannot
recover from. Physical damage by humans has the greatest impact on caves (Bob Robins, 2005) There
are many ways humans have and continue to still damage caves, Majority of people assume that the
main damage to caves is through touching formations (Caving ,Survey 2017) However there are many
other factors that damage the cave just as badly such as graffiti, modernising caves and rainfall.
Tourist caves undergo the most damage (G.Enriquez, B, 2001)with lost formations, climate changes,
and urbanising the caves. Limestone caves are more susceptible to damage from a change in climate
than volcanic caves due to the rock type. When tourists enter caves they can create thermal
annomalies, the anomalies effect the overall temperature in the cave and this in turn effects the
production of formations. (FECYT, 2011). A research investigation undertaken by the University of

Title: Mitosis and Meiosis
Exercise 1: Mitosis in Animal and Plant Cells
Questions:
A.) What is the purpose of mitosis?
The purpose of mitosis is to create or produce more cells for a living organism. Mitosis occurs when
genetic substance in the nucleus divides or separates in order to create more cells. Cytokinesis
normally occurs next and the single cell develops into two separate cells. This same process continues
to occur over and over creating more cells for an organism replacing old or dead cells.
B.) What other term is commonly used in place of mitosis ?
Another commonly used term for mitosis is cell division , because the division of cells is ... Show

Exercise 2: Meiosis in Animals
Questions:
A. Which organ, the ovary or the testes, contained the greater number of gametes?
The organ that contained the greater number of gamets is the testes.
B. What may be a reason for this?
The eggs in the ovary are much larger than the sperm in the testes and it takes numerous sperm trying
to get to the egg before one actually does fertilize the egg and most of the sperm die trying.
Observations:
Ovary:
Testis:
Exercise 3: Simulating Meiosis
Questions:
A. What does mitosis accomplish?
The process of mitosis accomplishes replacing old or dying cells in an organism by replicating the
DNA and cell division.
B. When and where does mitosis occur?
Mitosis occurs in eukaryotic cells during the interphase of cell division.
C. What does meiosis accomplish? Meiosis has two consecutive cell divisions that produce a total of
four genetically different daughter cells.
D. When and where does meiosis occur?
Meiosis occurs in the ovaries and testes or reproduction organs during interphase.
E. How do these two processes differ?
Mitosis creates identical cells to replace old or dying cell tissue while Meiosis occurs in the sexual
reproduction organs and creates genetically different cells.
F. How do Prophase in Mitosis and Prophase I in Meiosis differ?
In mitosis chromosomes create two sister

Chicano Park History
The most significant number of outdoor mural art in the United States is just minutes away from
downtown San Diego, but if you ve visited the city, you ve probably driven over it without even
knowing it. San Diego s Chicano Park is hidden below the San Diego Coronado Bridge. More than 70
vibrantly colored murals adorn the support pylons of the freeway overpass. The walls pay tribute to
the history of the surrounding Mexican American and immigrant community called Barrio Logan. In
the 1960s, the community was further separated by the formation of the 5 Freeway and the high on
ramps of the San Diego Coronado Bridge. City leaders didn t include tenants in the preparation of
these projects that destroyed more than 5,000 houses and local businesses. ... Show more content on

The park s story is worth retelling: The bisecting of the Barrio Logan community by I 5 and the
Coronado Bridge, ending in a concrete roof supported by large gray pillars, replaced at least 1,500
families. With a society of 20,000 in its heyday in the 1940s, the historic neighborhood was rezoned as
industrial in the 1950s, ushering in junkyards, auto wrecking operations, plating and chemical
companies, and now, a legacy of environmental and air condition issues.
In 1967, community leaders began demanding a neighborhood park under the bridge. When the
California Highway Patrol started building a substation there, hundreds of residents formed a human
shield to stop construction. They displayed signs in Spanish with statements like, More houses, fewer
junkyards, and they hoisted a Chicano flag from a telephone pole.
The use of murals as a tool of political resistance is a long Mexican tradition. Imagine the park
without murals, said Tommie Camarillo, chairwoman of the Chicano Park Steering Committee, who
has been volunteering at the park for 48

Aphrodite s Role In Greek Mythology
Greek mythology has influenced today s world due to the actions of the Greek Gods and Goddess .
Aphrodite, the goddess of love, fertility, and beauty, is an influence of a moral lesson in today s
society and caused an act of destruction.
In Greek mythology the Greek goddess Aphrodite has many myths and stories impacting today s life.
She was the goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. Many myths claim that she was an irresistible,
beautiful, loving goddess. Homer has said that she was the child of Zeus and Dione born in Illiad. In
Illiad she was a weak creature that no mortal was in fear of. Hesoid says Aphrodite rose from foam in
the sea where Kronois had cut off Uranus genitals. This sea birth was near Cythera and she later went

In the myth Psyche, Psyche was a Greek goddess who many people payed attention to. But when more
people began to pay attention to Psyche Aphrodite got very jealous. So Aphrodite got one of her sons
Eros, also known as Cupid, to go and strike her with her arrow to make her fall in love with an ugly
mean creature. When Eros laid eyes on her he immediately fell in love and sent her to a castle in a
land far away. Psyche thought he was and evil monster because he kept his identity hidden from
Psyche until one night when she saw his face. She was going to kill him and try and escape but when
she turned on the light she saw his true identity and instantly fell in love. In fear Eros flew off and
Psyche began searching for him everywhere. She went everywhere until she decided to ask Aphrodite
for help. Although Aphrodite gave her very hard tasks to complete, such as having to go far into the
sea and almost everywhere, before she found him she realized something. Aphrodite realized that her
son s happiness shouldn t be controlled by her needs(Colombian Encyclopedia). She should let him be
happy even if she doesn t like who it s with. The moral lesson Aphrodite influenced today s society
with was if a person loves somebody they should let them be happy, even if it impacts their life.
Somebody s happiness shouldn t affect another persons. Aphrodite influenced today s society but

Unknown Salt Essay
The objective of the experiment was to identify the unknown salt that was given. The unknown salt
contained an anion and a cation labelled, 38A. A series of preliminary tests were first conducted in
order to help choose which confirmation tests should be used to identify the compound. The
preliminary tests included pH and solubility, and the behaviour of the salts with concentrated sulfuric
acid. The compound was found to have a slightly acidic pH, around 6.9 while being soluble in water.
The compound showed no change in properties after the addition of concentrated sulfuric acid. The
confirmation tests were then divided into two parts, one for the identification of the cation and the
other for the identification of the anion.

The observation of chemical behaviours under specific conditions allowed for the use of process of
elimination. Given the observations found in the materials and methods section and the data found in
the lab manual1 it was found that the anion was not acetate or carbonate, but rather a halide,
specifically Br due to the brown yellow hue of the organic layer. The observations for the cation test
along with the data from the lab manual1 showed that the unknown was from group II. Since the
flame test showed no observable difference this allowed for the conclusion that the cation was Mg2+.
For the anion, the most difficult test was the acetate test as the test was concentration dependent and it
also relied on colour as its identifier. This was difficult to achieve as the concentration was hard to
keep constant, and the colour was difficult to pinpoint. Possible solutions include getting access to a
Drypette TM, a manual powder pipette that would dispel a more accurate sample of salt. This would
then make for a more reliable consideration of the color as an indicator of the presence of

In the cultures of many Africans the African Elephant is a figure of power and strength. Africans look
at this animal and consider their size, loyalty, and spirit. Elephant tusks used in South Africa represent

The Frontispice And Incipit Of The Gelasian Sacrament
The Frontispice and Incipit of the Gelasian Sacrament, is the art from the first two pages of the
Gelasian Sacrament. While it is impossible to know for certain, since this piece was neither signed nor
dated, it is widely accepted that this piece was created by nuns in the nunnery at Chelles. The nunnery
at Chelles is famous for having cultivated the art of writing. 1 The story of the journey of this codex is
unknown. From the nunnery in France, this codex spent time in the library of Queen Christina of
Sweden, before heading to the Vatican Library. But other than these three location, the whereabouts of
this book through the century are unknown. What is known is this codex was made for priest not
bishops and was used in Roman churches in the seventh century. 2 Also, it has not, however, reached
us in its original form, but with modifications and additions made by generation after generation. 3
The two pages are strikingly similar. They both use the same color scheme of red outlines, with red,
blue, green and yellow decorations. The figures used on both pages are similar, crosses, birds, horses,
fish, and felines. Also, the stylistic choice of putting figures inside circles was reoccurring. In the
Frontispice, the image on the left, there is a decorative arch encasing a cross. It appears that the artist
attempted to make the image symmetrical, with the line of symmetry running vertically down the
middle of the page. There is only one definite difference between the

Copper Transport Disorders Paper
Background Problem:
Inherited copper transport disorders are caused by a defect in the gene that decodes for copper
transporting ATPases. This defect interferes with how the human body utilizes copper which is
manifested in disorders such as Wilson s disease, Menkes Disease, and the rare Occipital Horn
Syndrome. This article attempts to examine the types of copper transport disorders and focus on the
clinical problems in diagnosis and treatments. Even though there are diagnosis methods and
treatments for these diseases, there are still issues with the available resources. Readers would be
interested in the larger work because early diagnosis and treatment of this disease is critical in
managing the disorders.

The chelating agents given to remove excess copper are given either an hour before meals or two
hours after meals. Due to this, patients tend to become nauseous after consuming their medicine. This
side effect causes many patients to avoid taking their medicine. This is important because by solving
this obstacle, more patients will be more compliant in the treatment of their disease. Secondly, patients
with Wilson s disease have decreased levels of ceruloplasmin. This disrupts the iron homeostasis
which results in the accumulation of both iron and copper in the liver. This information is important
with diagnosing the disease. Another disease, such as hemochromatosis also exhibit high levels of iron
in the body. With this knowledge, when diagnosing patients, physicians should test for both diseases

Early Church Fathers Attitudes Toward Women Essay
Chapter 6 Early Church Fathers Attitudes Toward Women Then, as the church became fused with the
secular, misogynistic society of Rome, Christ s attitude toward women and the doctrine of equality
were purposely forgotten, 21, 34 Following are only a few of the mean spirited quotes made by the
early church so called fathers and from modern preachers. This researcher believes this kind of
leadership has instigated erroneous beliefs about women and their place in the Christian church.
Furthermore, it has promoted discrimination against women in general and female clergy in particular.
Quotes are courtesy of John Wijngaards34 (2015) and Valerie Tarico35 (2013). The feminist agenda is

The Reality Of Television Entertainment
Reality T.V. is defined as a genre of television entertainment that portrays real life situations that
serves to entertain rather than inform. One of the first reality T.V. shows to air was the Dutch, series
Nummer 28, in which 7 students were put together in one house and their everyday interactions
between each other were documented. A few years later, shows such as Survivor and Big Brother
swept the nation and the radical new idea of Reality T.V. became the next big thing. During its
infancy, Reality T.V. served only 2 purposes; to entertain and make money. As the years went by and
popularity for the genre grew, television stations saw the opportunity to make an exponentially larger

Despite all of the publicity that the controversy sparked, the viewership didn t reach their expectations.
However, at the end of the first episode they showed a preview of the next upcoming episode in which
one member of the cast was punched in the face while drinking at one of the bar s. This caused even
more controversy, which in turn, increased the viewership of the next episode by almost 50%. This
comes to show that people become exponentially more engaged in a show when there is more fighting

Essay on Battle of Gen X and Gen Y
The Battle of Gen X and Gen Y
There¡¦s no doubt about it, the newest diversity issue in the workplace is age diversity. Many
organizations have finally figured out how to recruit young talent only to watch them drive down a
collision course with seasoned employees over issues like work ethic, respect for authority, dress code
and every work arrangement imaginable. And they re not sure what to do about it.
With this paper, I decided to take this concept because of the people that I have to work with on a
continual basis. They are usually people from the Generation X trying to communicate with
Generation Y. Just the other day I heard from someone I am working with, ¡§Those god d* amp;#

It is this realism and ability to deal with issues rather than ignore them. Most are decent, pragmatic,
creative, strongly independent, self reliant, and hard working. They have a surprisingly good work
ethic including a strong sense of company loyalty, as long as it s reciprocal and we want to get ahead,
even though we aren t as concerned with the trappings of quot;success quot; as earlier generations
were. However, they are very concerned with financial and emotional security, and hopeful that the
future will be good to us, but shockingly realistic and honest about the struggles that they are going to
face in a rapidly changing world of diminishing resources.
On the downside of the two generations, a lot of the Generation X¡¦ers will butt heads with their
younger counterparts. The old fashioned way of communicating via personal phone is being replaced
with an e mail or cell phone. Technology is ok but Gen Y is proficient and not afraid to use it, and this
kind of attitude demands change where as the Gen X just accepts it. Also, when it comes to employer
loyalty, if the Gen Y doesn¡¦t get their Saturday off they will quit; whereas the Gen X thinks if I do this
it could give me a promotion. The battle lines are clearly drawn in the line of attitude and influences of
the age diversity of this group.
So after drawing the battle lines between the two generations, I sat back and

Thus, procedures are established that assign responsibilities for various functions. It is these decisions
that determine the organizational structure.
In an organization of any size or complexity, employees responsibilities typically are defined by what
they do, who they report to, and for managers, who reports to them. Over time these definitions are
assigned to positions in the organization rather than to specific individuals. The relationships among
these positions are illustrated graphically in an organizational chart (see Figures 1a and 1b). The best
organizational structure for any organization depends on many factors including the work it does; its
size in terms of employees, revenue, and the geographic dispersion of its facilities; and the range of its
businesses (the degree to which it is diversified across markets).
There are multiple structural variations that organizations can take on, but there are a few basic
principles that apply and a small number of common patterns. The following sections explain these
patterns and provide the historical context from which some of them arose. The first section addresses
organizational structure in the twentieth century. The second section provides additional details of
traditional, vertically arranged organizational structures. This is followed by descriptions of several

Bonuses under the stretch method are based on annual performances, but payments are made every
quarter. And each quarterly bonus payment is only at 80% actual in order to save management from
paying out bonuses that may not be actual. Opponents to this budgeting technique cited that targets
were too optimistic, and that rewards were based on complex and subjective measures. And because
managers could still receive a small bonus at 60% of budget, bad habits started to form.
In late 1986, HCC CEO Andy Goldfarb met with divisional managers and announced a new budgeting
philosophy. The Minimum Performance Standard (MPS) was created to let divisional managers set
their budgeting goals at a level they felt was 100% attainable. However, Goldfarb asked each manager
to set their targets at levels above what they were currently producing at. The MPS plan was
accompanied with a change in incentive plan, in whereby a pool was created that paid 20% of the
amount exceeded actual over budgeted PBT (profit before taxes). In addition, 25% of the amount they
exceeded the target would be added to the bonus. This allowed managers to see exactly where their
bonuses were coming from. If their shipments were at 98% of the budgeted, they would receive close
to 100% of the bonus pool set aside for that particular measure. If a manager met only 4 or 5
measurements, then his/her bonus collection would be directly in proportion to that. However, COO

Irony in the Heart of Darkness Is the world today still withholding old social problems ? Problems that

The Depiction Of The Civil War
If someone were to ask you to name one of your congressman, would you be able to? Many American
citizens struggle to name a single one of their congressman or congresswoman. History is a very
important thing to study because without knowing our history we are more likely to repeat our past.
However, knowing our past requires us to know our present. The fate of their country addresses many
topics of why the civil war occurred and why it mattered, however, Holt makes it very clear in the
preface that his theme and vital point of this book is what politicians do in elective office matters. Holt

Holt defends this by saying that the issue of slavery extension was because the common people had no

with the people, Holt continues to say that the War did not break out because of public pressure or
territorial anger. This is important because this highlights that the American people at the time knew
very little about their government which resulted in sectional divisions in the North and South
increasing. Holt defends this argument by quoting Abraham Lincoln A bloody conflict was a people s
contest, not simply a politician s war. Holt explains that during this time the government was making
decisions that beyond crucial because they were deepening the distrust between the white population
of the North and South.
Holt s final point addresses the issue of how reckless the politicians were with their decisions and the
corrupt arguments about slavery expansion the government presented to the American people. Holt
explains that the politicians were only looking out for their own personal needs and calls it a
shortsighted calculations of partisan advantage Holt becomes angry when he discusses this point
because the government was clearly not looking out for the national interest or the well being of the

The Age Of The Earth
Many Christians believe that the age of the earth is a side issue, of non doctrinal importance, that one
can believe in an old or young universe. The Christian apologist William Lang Craig believes that it
hurts Christianity when Christians hold to a young earth position (Craig holds to a local flood as many
other Christian apologist and Christian). The reason they give is that it is not scientifically possible,
others have posited that it hurts the gospel message. Others have said young earth believers
unwittingly damage Christianity s credibility. This is nothing more than arrogance, an ego built on
trying to puff oneself up, in the philosophy naturalism. In fact, many evangelicals have started to
believe in evolution, given that they believe in billions of years. I believe it hurts the church to believe
in what secular science has to say about past events, since they view the world through a different set
of glasses glasses blind to truth and God.
A global food is essential in explaining the data we have across the world in the sedimentary rock
forms. The global Flood explains why many animals in the past record were buried rapidly in death
throe positions. Old age believers must explain the fact that the moon is moving further away from
earth, hence at one time the moon was in close proximity to the earth, if billions years are true. Thus,
the old age believer remains in neutrality with the atheistic naturalism. Old earth opponents try to

Essay about Criticism of Religion in Voltaire’s Candide
Criticism of Religion in Voltaire s Candide
In his novel Candide, Voltaire often criticized religious beliefs of the times. His criticism of religion
surfaces throughout the entire story. The kindness of the Anabaptist that Candide met showed the
silliness of religious prejudices. The old woman s story of her father, Pope Urban X, and the life of
wealth she lived as a child shows the corruption of the Catholic clergy. Finally, the conversation
Candide and Cacambo had with the old man in Eldorado shows the benefits of a simple religion, a
contrast of the European religions of the time.
During the eighteenth century, the Anabaptists were often persecuted and hated because of their
radical religious beliefs. Voltaire attacked this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James, the Anabaptist, witnessed this horrible action towards Candide and invited him into his own
home, served him bread and beer and gave him two florins. Later on, in a journey to Lisbon, a sailor
fell into the ocean, and so James quickly helped him back onto the ship, but, in the course of his
efforts, he was thrown into the sea in full view of the sailor, who let him perish without deigning even
to look at him (28). James kindness resulted in his death. Voltaire included this Anabaptist in his story
to display the silliness of religious prejudices. This man was hated by society because of his religious
views, but he was kind to others, unlike the Protestants and the sailor that Candide encountered.
Voltaire also criticized the corruption found in the clergy of the Catholic Church. An old woman took
care of Candide after his flogging in Lisbon and reunited him with his long lost love, Cunegonde.
While on a ship, the three exchanged stories of their adventures and the troubles that they had faced.
In the beginning of the old woman s story she said, I am the daughter of Pope Urban X and the
Princess of Palestrina (42). She then talked about the magnificent palace that she grew up in and the
riches that she enjoyed and how she was betrothed to a prince of Massa Carrara. This story was
mentioned in Candide because it showed the corruption of the Catholic clergy. The pope, a man who
was supposed to be celibate and follow the example of Christ, instead

What Is The Target Audience
Phase One, define the target audience: The first step in project is to meet with all the project stake
holders to define the target audience. This is a critical step because it will inform all the others
regarding the look, feel, content, and over all aesthetic of the site. Given that this website is a
marketing tool for VIVASEL, the target audience for the website will be the same target audience that
will use the product.
Phase Two, create a site map/wireframes: In this step the website will be outlined by the development
team and the other stakeholders. The team will create rough images of what the different web pages
will look like, functionality will be discussed, and a general design direction will be agreed upon.
Additionally, any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The developers will follow the design guidelines and the wireframes developed in phase two, which
were built to serve the target audience in phase one, so the completed website will be an effective tool
for VIVIASEL from day one. A subsequent internal LMR review will take place during this phase
which will ensure all of the website content is compliant and displayed correctly.
Phase five, tracking and analytics: In this step, the completed website will have its tracking suite
installed. Given that the website is based on a Joomla CMS, the best tracking suite to use is JRealTime
analytics. This 3rd party plug in will integrate with the website to provide detailed tracking data for
every single element. The developers will also install tracking code from Google analytics, which
provides the same functionality, for consistency. Tracking is critically important to the website
because it will provide relevant information that will be measured against the website s Key
Performance Indicators. This data will inform all the stakeholders on how effective the website is.
Phase six, testing: This is when the website will be tested by both internal employees familiar to the
project, as well as outside individuals. The feedback from both groups will be compared and analyzed

Demetrio Macias Characters In The Underdogs
Leadership Roles of Demetrio Macias

November 4th, 2014
In The Underdogs written by Mariano Azuela, the protagonist, Demetrio Macias is symbolized as the
fuel of the Mexican Revolution. Heroes like Macias gave hope to the oppressed people of Mexico by
fighting for what they felt they truly deserved, but, ironically, later becomes what he was fighting
against. He does show great leadership and determination to oppress Pancho Villa s army. Pancho
Villa, the dictator of Mexico during this revolutionary time, also shows prolific leadership qualities
and care for his people; much like Demetrio Macias. However, at times Villa can be a ferocious
general who destroyed villiages and killed innocent victims, he shows his compassion who helped
those in need and rescued orphans providing them with food, education, and a home. Pancho Villa was
a leader who only asked for your loyalty and trust, but was cruel when people tried to oppose him.

The Pros And Cons Of The Anti-War Movement
Thus in conclusion, the drafting of young American men by the American government and the
subsequent reaction of draft protests, added to the chaotic situation the Policy makers were facing due
to the public disorder created, but at the same time also evidenced the limitations of the student s
power and ability to truly gain significant public support and be taken seriously. Such limitations will
reoccur later and mark one of the reasons why the student s movement was not fully responsible for
the withdrawal of American troops in 1975.
Strengths and Weaknesses of the Movement
By 1965 together with the staging of massive demonstrations, the teach in wave and draft protests by
students, the anti war movement in universities continued to evidence the war as a major political
issue and kept it in national spotlight (Hall 127). Although it might not have seemed apparent at the
time of the protests, the sustained activism against the war, maintained the vast pressure on the
administrations to bring the conflict to a close ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historians argue the diversity of the movement and the tactics used were the major strengths the
movement had. Hall states that thanks to the large variety of activities (stated in the previous section)
and its diversity, the movement with its fluidity could sustain the pressure put on the Policy makers
(Hall 119). Jones additionally argues, that with the spread of the movement to other groups in society
beyond Universities, it became more effective producing a cumulative effect that sapped resistance
power of the policy makers (Jeffrey Jones 3, 223). The strengths Hall and Jones refer to however
address the entire movement as a whole, saying that the co operation of Student groups with many
different activist groups such as civil rights groups, feminist groups was what gave it

Adjusting to the Truth... I was going to be extremely late. At this point, the clock on my watch couldn

The way my mom has always taught me to keep trying no matter how many obstacles you have in
front of you, to keep trying because there s so much more satisfaction in that in the end than, just
giving up because you were scared or had let the negative lies take over you. From a far I could see

Legal Risk Case Study
Legal Risk
I work in a restaurant environment. As one can imagine, there are numberous health and safety, and
therefore legal, risks which must be considered at all times. This particularly true when rolling out
new processes and proceedures. Recently, the restranunt I work for switched the physical way the
menure items are brought to the guest to tray service (meaning eveything is brought to the guests table
on a large, black, oval tray). However, quickly after implimentation it became apparent there was not
enough consideration given to risk regarding the tray service. Problems with the new trays include:
1: Weight The weight of the tray, tray jack, and the nitouriouly large portions of food is sevear.
Complications do to the wieght of the trays include staffs inablity to lift them, set them down, and

Size The doorways of the restaurant cannot accomadte the size of a person as well as the size of the

food/buisness, but more alarmingly, risks injuring the staff. The trays are also so large, visibility is
obstrusted which has already resulted in an injury to a child patron.
If the restaurant had considered the four stages of risk management, the trays may not have been
implimented as:
1. Identify all foreseeable hazards (White Fortune, 2002). Both weight and size concerns should have
been glarring obvious, especially since doorway size has been a known ADA concern for the

Egg Came Before Chicken Research Paper
What came first the chicken or the egg? This has been a debated question for some time now. Some
say the chicken came first, some say the egg came first, and others have no idea. In our opinion, the
egg came before the chicken no matter how you look at it. Rather, you are religious, or you believe in
science, the egg came before the chicken. In this research paper Mike and I will be explaining how we
think the egg came before the chicken from a religious point of view and a scientific point of view.
First, we will be explaining how the egg came before the chicken from a religious point of view.
Genesis 1:24 said And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and
creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. This bible quote says how God

is God created an egg and the egg hatch, and there is your chicken. It is also a possibility that he

chicken egg which hatched a chicken. I know that genetic mutation is possible, so this is how I believe
the chicken was born. Over time, due to genetic mutation a chicken was hatched from a chicken egg.

Salmonella description, pathogenesis, symptoms
Salmonella is a gram negative bacillus that causes inflammation of the GI tract and in some cases, if
the immune response is not sufficiently powerful and treatment is not administered, can become
systemic and cause even more serious conditions throughout the body. After ingestion, these bacteria
cause infection by invading the epithelial cells of the small intestine and macrophages. Though there
are more than two thousand different subspecies of Salmonella, few of them are able to cause serious
conditions in humans for most, the disease resolves itself in a matter of days. Those who are most
affected by Salmonella infection are infants, the elderly, and people with compromised immune ...

salmonella is a specialized invader of the gastrointestinal system that can cause a variety of painful
conditions of varying severity.
The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong to the family
Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores, and motile, or able to move
around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able to
grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than otherwise
(Gray and Fedorka Cray 56).
The bacteria can have a combination of three antigens: the O antigen, H antigen, and Vi antigen. The
O antigen is located in the cell wall of the bacterium, and each salmonella bacillus may posses 2 or
more O antigens on its surface. Also, the H antigen is a flagellar antigen that can be destroyed by heat
and enables the motility of the Salmonella bacterium (Slack and Snyder 295). The last antigen is
known as the Vi antigen because this antigen is related the virulence of the bacterium. As a capsular
antigen, its presence enhances the virulence of the bacterium that has it of all the sub species of
Salmonella, only two, Salmonella enterica serovar (S.) typhi and S. choleraesuis, have the Vi antigen

Identity And Identity In Joseph Kestner s Treasure Island
Joseph Kestner is quoted saying, In Treasure Island, Hawkins is forced to achieve an identity, but this
process is riddled with ambiguity, including the fact that Jim commits murder and remains haunted by
the experience as a nightmare, (______). He specializes in masculinity theory from novels written in
the late nineteenth century. Kestner can relate Jim because he is forced to become a new person, kill a
human to save his own life, and questions why situations happen. Wyeth suggests that Jim will take on
a courageous mysterious journey by using Jim s poses, gender roles, darkness, and specific details to
portray his maturation throughout the novel, thereby suggesting that we are all subject to transitions
that are inevitable. Also, Stevenson and Wyeth use text and images that do not correlate how they
should, which can confuse readers and have them wonder why the image was placed in this book.
Through Jim Hawkin s pose and gender roles, Wyeth portrays Jim s transition from adolescence to a
masculine adulthood. Jim s pose shows that he is unemotional compared to his mother who is
positioned behind him. In this illustration, Jim is shorter than his mother, but Wyeth uses the technique
occlusion to make Jim appear larger than he actually is. Wyeth uses this technique to demonstrate the
importance of Jim, implying that he is clearly the most powerful character. In the nineteenth century,
gender roles were vastly different than they are today; for example, females acted

Ms. Prokott grew up in the countryside of Little Falls Minnesota, where her parents Chris and Jodi

As parents Chris and Jodi taught them how to pursue their dreams by doing things they absolutely

Learning from their examples, Emily did just that. Throughout school, from kindergarten to 12th

in the idea of creating a one of a kind device that translated sound waves from the brain into music.
Emily was convinced this unique device would earn her way to the John Philip Sousa Award.
From here on out this amazing creator never gave up. About a month later on September 3rd Ms.
Prokott had her first blueprint of the device.
She created a replica of a headband which would read the waves given off from the human brain and
transfer them to a speaker box where they would be turned into music. The person wearing the

projected for anyone else to hear.

My Interest In Rock Music
Topic: Rock music
Individual Presentation:
What initially made you interested in rock music? [5]
My interest in rock music began when a friend of mine first introduced me to a song by rock band
Muse. At first I thought that it was just like any other songs as it was comprised of the same riff
extended to about 4 minutes with a 2 minute guitar solo/bridge. However, as I continued to listen to
the song over and over again, I grew to appreciate the heavy drumming, the distorted guitar riff and
when I watched a few of their live performances of the song, I was astonished by the band synergy
that they had. There s just so much energy and passion put into every song they performed. Watching
their performances inspired me to the point where I felt like
In what way has rock music affected your daily life? [5]
Rock music had affected my daily life immensely but not in a negative way. Back when I wasn t really
into rock, I rarely listened to music whether at home or otherwise. However, now ever since I was
introduced to the rock genre, I listen to music every time I get the chance to. I listen to music
whenever I leave the house, when I m at home and especially when I do work. I m just a lot more
productive and focused when I listen to rock music when I do work that I ... Show more content on

For example, even after four decades, people still recognise and remember the Beatles s performances
at Wembley Stadium and on the Ed Sullivan show.

The Civil Rights Movement During The 1960 s
Sometimes a single issue can cause a rift between a political party and its members. Due in large part
to this Civil Rights movement during the 1960s, there was a switch in the Democratic and Republican
parties in terms of region and race of the parties supporting coalitions.
Race in America was a substantial motivating factor for the switch in political party identification
during the 1960s. Liberal Democrats in the north wanted their party to improve civil rights for black
Americans, and this caused Democratic party members to take advantage of their position on strong
federal power to increase equality on a national scale. While this was happening, white Americans
who opposed the Civil Rights movement turned to Republican candidates who

FRQ On Federalism
FRQs
2007 Question 4:
A) Federalism is a way a nation may be organized by dividing power among two or more levels of
government can both have formal authority over the same people/land. Federalism is a system of units
of government sharing power.
B) Federal mandates have been used to increase the power of the federal government over the states as
with a federal mandate, the nation government (federal government) tells the state government which
policies to carry out and the state government(s) have to follow through with the mandate. With this,
the federal government does not always give the state government(s) the necessities for the mandate to
be carried out. Despite this, the state still has to carry out the federal mandate. Selective incorporation
has also been used to increase the power of the federal government. Selective incorporation is that
most but not all of the protections within the bill of rights apply to the states due to the fourteenth
amendment. Though this gives certain rights to the states, federal courts can still overturn the practices
of the states.
C) Block grants are federal grants which are given automatically to the states in order to support broad
programs as the development of the community or social security. Block grants have been used to
increase the state s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the Articles of Confederation, the state governments were stronger than the federal government
as we had a weak central government, therefore the states were sovereign under the Articles of
Confederation. However, with the Constitution, power of the government has been divided with
federalism. Under the Constitution states share power with the federal government, and have limited
power. Therefore under the Constitution states are not

Cretaceous-Paleogene Boundary Essay
The Cretaceous Paleogene boundary that occurred around 65 million years ago marks one of the three
largest mass extinctions in the past 500 million years. The hypotheses of Cretaceous Tertiary boundary
impact on Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico shows evidence in the Gulf of Mexico of turbidity currents, and
giant waves occurring because of the impact. There is also other evidence that impact ejecta were
distributed all over the world. The mineral that was ejected during this impact was iridium. Iridium is
a mineral that is commonly used to indicate a rock layer from the K T boundary. Iridium is only found
naturally on extraterrestrial bodies. In addition to Iridium, shocked quartz is used to indicate the K T
boundary. Shocked quartz is unique and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The four controls for a turbiditie sequence to form are tectonic activity, climate, sedimentary
processes, and sea level fluctuations. The mass of the bolide that impacted the Yucatan Peninsula
would have been large enough to irritate the plates, and possibly catalyze their movements. The
suggested size of the bolide is around 180 kilometers. The climate of the time can be closer examined
by checking the paleontology of rock layers found before and after the K T boundary. Sedimentary
processes and sea level fluctuations could have taken a huge turn, due to the fact that an unexpected
large extraterrestrial body crashed into the Yucatan Peninsula. It is also suggested by geoscientists that
a tsunami about 50 to 100 meters high hit the coast of Texas, which resulted in an unconformity near
Brazos River, Texas. The two major end members of a turbidite are coarse grained to sand rich and
then fine grained to mud rich. These two end members are important because they are used in order to
examine submarine fans. Submarine fans can be geological clues as to what was going on in a
particular layer of

Compare And Contrast China And Japan
During the 19th century, after a long period of isolation, both China and Japan underwent social and
political changes to open up to foreign trade and interaction with European forces. Both countries
eventually signed treaties with Western provinces such as the United States and Great Britain in order
to establish a trade relationship to induce and increase commercial trade networks. Even though
culture and civilization in China and Japan were fairly similar, both countries had distinct reactions to
Western influences in their societies which impacted the way that the two empires developed socially,
culturally, politically and intellectually over time.
Whereas Japan accepted Western ideals and even went so far as to emulate them by implementing
them into their society, China succumbed to European power because of its reluctance to follow
Western influences. Since Chinese officials and rulers in the empire ... Show more content on

Since the West did not infiltrate Japan until the 1850s, around ten years after the first opium war, the
Europeans did not focus on westernizing Japan because of its lack of natural resources, small trading
network, and lessened demand for Western goods. However, the European powers did focus on China
because of their extensive amount of resources and their vast trading network which made them a
target for European colonization and imperial rule. During the opium war in the mid 1800s, there were
many Anglo Chinese disputes over British trade in China, the East India Company, and China s
sovereignty and judicial equality because it destabilized its Canton system of trading and made a new
way for a rise in free trade imperialism to ensue. These wars between China and the European powers
further weakened the Qing Dynasty and decreased China s deliberate separation with the rest of the

Moreover, in Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks: Life is by Thelma B. Thompson, Millie, the main character in the book, has faced multiple obstacles dealing with relationships. Thompson uses a unique method of combining relationships with three different appeal schemes, ethos, pathos, logos. In fact, there are three major types of connections recycled throughout the book; which include, Romantic relationships, friendships, and family relationships. This passage shows the reader that Millie is determined to provide for her family no matter what; literally, she left Jamaica and her family to make a better living for them. This also shows her selfless attitude, her willingness to go without just to see her family prevail; this establishes credibility with the reader considering they think Millie is not truthful in her plans. Another example takes place between Millie and the church, they want one tenth of Millie s earnings, but she tells them that money is all she has to live on, and God has spoken to her in a dream; Millicent, you are a hard working girl. Follow me. Follow the light to your new house (Thompson 13). In other words, this passage is not only persuasion to the reader, but the church as well; this is because God provided proof in the dream. Now, not only does she believe in her ambition, but God reassures her. Ultimately, Thompson definitely leaves an imprint in the reader s mind that Millie is about her business and values her relationship with her family so much that she is willing to do whatever it takes to see them prevail. Older age groups that vote tend to be more educated on politics, because they tend to be much better educated. Ones views on politics can vary depending on the type of environment you grew up in. The CIRA are a splinter group from the larger Provincial Irish Republican Army (PIRA). The CIRA has been recognized as a splinter faction off of the real Irish Republican Army ever since the middle of the 1980 s (Mueller, 2015). The group has not been conducting attacks in recent years because they do not have many members. The CIRA is thought to have committed the attack that took place in 1987, where eleven people were killed in the Northern Ireland town called Enniskillen (Fletcher, 2008, para. 7). Groups Objectives The CIRA s main objective is to rid Northern Ireland of British influence. According to Pike, (2004) Continuity refers to the groups belief that it is carrying on the original IRA goal of forcing the British out of Northern Ireland . The reason they are able to commit attacks is because of the amount of support that they received from various places. The CIRA are known to get funding and weapons from supporters in the United States. They have also received weapons and materials from the real IRA operating out of the Balkans (Pike, 2004). The amount of members that an organization has does not disqualify it for being labeled as a terrorist organization by the United States. Caves form over a long period of time, 1000 of years (National Geographic, 2015). Caves are made up of rock, ranging from volcanic to limestone. Limestone caves are more pleasing to the eye as they usually contain more decoration such as stalactites, Shawls and Straws. As limestone caves are more decorated they are more prone to damage and deformation (Science Kids, 2016). Damaged caused by humans in caves: Humans are causing great damage to limestone caves, some of which the caves themself cannot recover from. Physical damage by humans has the greatest impact on caves (Bob Robins, 2005) There are many ways humans have and continue to still damage caves, Majority of people assume that the main damage to caves is through touching formations (Caving ,Survey 2017) However there are many other factors that damage the cave just as badly such as graffiti, modernising caves and rainfall. Tourist caves undergo the most damage (G.Enriquez, B, 2001)with lost formations, climate changes, and urbanising the caves. Limestone caves are more susceptible to damage from a change in climate than volcanic caves due to the rock type. When tourists enter caves they can create thermal annomalies, the anomalies effect the overall temperature in the cave and this in turn effects the production of formations. (FECYT, 2011). In an organization of any size or complexity, employees responsibilities typically are defined by what they do, who they report to, and for managers, who reports to them. Over time these definitions are assigned to positions in the organization rather than to specific individuals. The relationships among these positions are illustrated graphically in an organizational chart (see Figures 1a and 1b). The best organizational structure for any organization depends on many factors including the work it does; its size in terms of employees, revenue, and the geographic dispersion of its facilities; and the range of its businesses (the degree to which it is diversified across markets). And each quarterly bonus payment is only at 80% actual in order to save management from paying out bonuses that may not be actual. Opponents to this budgeting technique cited that targets were too optimistic, and that rewards were based on complex and subjective measures. And because managers could still receive a small bonus at 60% of budget, bad habits started to form. In late 1986, HCC CEO Andy Goldfarb met with divisional managers and announced a new budgeting philosophy. The Minimum Performance Standard (MPS) was created to let divisional managers set their budgeting goals at a level they felt was 100% attainable. However, Goldfarb asked each manager to set their targets at levels above what they were currently producing at. The MPS plan was accompanied with a change in incentive plan, in whereby a pool was created that paid 20% of the amount exceeded actual over budgeted PBT (profit before taxes). The Christian apologist William Lang Craig believes that it hurts Christianity when Christians hold to a young earth position (Craig holds to a local flood as many other Christian apologist and Christian). The reason they give is that it is not scientifically possible, others have posited that it hurts the gospel message. Others have said young earth believers unwittingly damage Christianity s credibility. This is nothing more than arrogance, an ego built on trying to puff oneself up, in the philosophy naturalism. In fact, many evangelicals have started to believe in evolution, given that they believe in billions of years. I believe it hurts the church to believe in what secular science has to say about past events, since they view the world through a different set of glasses glasses blind to truth and God. His criticism of religion surfaces throughout the entire story. The kindness of the Anabaptist that Candide met showed the silliness of religious prejudices. The old woman s story of her father, Pope Urban X, and the life of wealth she lived as a child shows the corruption of the Catholic clergy. James kindness resulted in his death. Voltaire included this Anabaptist in his story to display the silliness of religious prejudices. This man was hated by society because of his religious views, but he was kind to others, unlike the Protestants and the sailor that Candide encountered. Voltaire also criticized the corruption found in the clergy of the Catholic Church. An old woman took care of Candide after his flogging in Lisbon and reunited him with his long lost love, Cunegonde. While on a ship, the three exchanged stories of their adventures and the troubles that they had faced. In the beginning of the old woman s story she said, I am the daughter of Pope Urban X and the Princess of Palestrina (42). The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong to the family Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores, and motile, or able to move around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able to grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than otherwise (Gray and Fedorka Cray 56). The bacteria can have a combination of three antigens: the O antigen, H antigen, and Vi antigen. The O antigen is located in the cell wall of the bacterium, and each salmonella bacillus may posses 2 or more O antigens on its surface. Also, the H antigen is a flagellar antigen that can be destroyed by heat and enables the motility of the Salmonella bacterium (Slack and Snyder 295). He specializes in masculinity theory from novels written in the late nineteenth century. Kestner can relate Jim because he is forced to become a new person, kill a human to save his own life, and questions why situations happen. Wyeth suggests that Jim will take on a courageous mysterious journey by using Jim s poses, gender roles, darkness, and specific details to portray his maturation throughout the novel, thereby suggesting that we are all subject to transitions that are inevitable. Also, Stevenson and Wyeth use text and images that do not correlate how they should, which can confuse readers and have them wonder why the image was placed in this book. Jim s pose shows that he is unemotional compared to his mother who is positioned behind him. In this illustration, Jim is shorter than his mother, but Wyeth uses the technique occlusion to make Jim appear larger than he actually is. However, as I continued to listen to the song over and over again, I grew to appreciate the heavy drumming, the distorted guitar riff and when I watched a few of their live performances of the song, I was astonished by the band synergy that they had. I listen to music whenever I leave the house, when I m at home and especially when I do work. I m just a lot more productive and focused when I listen to rock music when I do work that I ... • 42. The Civil Rights Movement During The 1960 s Sometimes a single issue can cause a rift between a political party and its members. Due in large part to this Civil Rights movement during the 1960s, there was a switch in the Democratic and Republican parties in terms of region and race of the parties supporting coalitions. Race in America was a substantial motivating factor for the switch in political party identification during the 1960s. Liberal Democrats in the north wanted their party to improve civil rights for black Americans, and this caused Democratic party members to take advantage of their position on strong federal power to increase equality on a national scale. While this was happening, white Americans who opposed the Civil Rights movement turned to Republican candidates who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. FRQ On Federalism FRQs 2007 Question 4: A) Federalism is a way a nation may be organized by dividing power among two or more levels of government can both have formal authority over the same people/land. Federalism is a system of units of government sharing power. B) Federal mandates have been used to increase the power of the federal government over the states as with a federal mandate, the nation government (federal government) tells the state government which policies to carry out and the state government(s) have to follow through with the mandate. With this, the federal government does not always give the state government(s) the necessities for the mandate to be carried out. Despite this, the state still has to carry out the federal mandate. Selective incorporation has also been used to increase the power of the federal government. Selective incorporation is that most but not all of the protections within the bill of rights apply to the states due to the fourteenth amendment. Though this gives certain rights to the states, federal courts can still overturn the practices of the states. C) Block grants are federal grants which are given automatically to the states in order to support broad programs as the development of the community or social security. Block grants have been used to increase the state s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 44. Cretaceous-Paleogene Boundary Essay The Cretaceous Paleogene boundary that occurred around 65 million years ago marks one of the three largest mass extinctions in the past 500 million years. The hypotheses of Cretaceous Tertiary boundary impact on Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico shows evidence in the Gulf of Mexico of turbidity currents, and giant waves occurring because of the impact. There is also other evidence that impact ejecta were distributed all over the world. The mineral that was ejected during this impact was iridium. Iridium is a mineral that is commonly used to indicate a rock layer from the K T boundary. Iridium is only found naturally on extraterrestrial bodies. In addition to Iridium, shocked quartz is used to indicate the K T boundary. Shocked quartz is unique and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The four controls for a turbiditie sequence to form are tectonic activity, climate, sedimentary processes, and sea level fluctuations. The mass of the bolide that impacted the Yucatan Peninsula would have been large enough to irritate the plates, and possibly catalyze their movements. The suggested size of the bolide is around 180 kilometers. The climate of the time can be closer examined by checking the paleontology of rock layers found before and after the K T boundary. Sedimentary processes and sea level fluctuations could have taken a huge turn, due to the fact that an unexpected large extraterrestrial body crashed into the Yucatan Peninsula. It is also suggested by geoscientists that a tsunami about 50 to 100 meters high hit the coast of Texas, which resulted in an unconformity near Brazos River, Texas. The two major end members of a turbidite are coarse grained to sand rich and then fine grained to mud rich. These two end members are important because they are used in order to examine submarine fans. Submarine fans can be geological clues as to what was going on in a particular layer of ... • 46. Compare And Contrast China And Japan During the 19th century, after a long period of isolation, both China and Japan underwent social and political changes to open up to foreign trade and interaction with European forces. Both countries eventually signed treaties with Western provinces such as the United States and Great Britain in order to establish a trade relationship to induce and increase commercial trade networks. Even though culture and civilization in China and Japan were fairly similar, both countries had distinct reactions to Western influences in their societies which impacted the way that the two empires developed socially, culturally, politically and intellectually over time. Whereas Japan accepted Western ideals and even went so far as to emulate them by implementing them into their society, China succumbed to European power because of its reluctance to follow Western influences. Since Chinese officials and rulers in the empire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the West did not infiltrate Japan until the 1850s, around ten years after the first opium war, the Europeans did not focus on westernizing Japan because of its lack of natural resources, small trading network, and lessened demand for Western goods. However, the European powers did focus on China because of their extensive amount of resources and their vast trading network which made them a target for European colonization and imperial rule. During the opium war in the mid 1800s, there were many Anglo Chinese disputes over British trade in China, the East India Company, and China s sovereignty and judicial equality because it destabilized its Canton system of trading and made a new way for a rise in free trade imperialism to ensue. These wars between China and the European powers further weakened the Qing Dynasty and decreased China s deliberate separation with the rest of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
