Parkinson Cognitive Rehabilitation
Researchers have investigated the effectiveness of cognitive training and rehabilitation in the
improvement of cognition in individuals with Parkinson s. Such programs involve basic skills training
to reduce impairment and increase engagement in daily adaptive activities. The programs may target
different cognitive domains such as attention and visuospatial awareness among others as necessary
depending on the patient (Calleo, et al., 2012). One important aspect of cognitive training, also known
as brain training, is the use of games to improve cognition. A study by Owen and colleagues (2010)
investigating the effects of a computerized online brain training tasks showed improvements in
reasoning, planning, attention and visuospatial skills,

Brand positioning must make sure that: * The brand is unique/distinctive vs. competitors * The brand
is appropriate to all major geographic markets and businesses * The brand is validated with unique,
appropriate and original products * It should be sustainable and can be delivered constantly across all
points of contact with the consumer * It should be helpful for organization to achieve its financial
goals * It should support and boost up the organization
Sometimes, when these purposes are not fulfilled or there has been an error in the positioning, brands
go for repositioning.
Re positioning involves changing the identity of a product, relative to the identity of competing
products, in the collective minds of the target market.
Methodology of data collection:

have used the following methodology:
Various well known journals of marketing field have been searched and analyzed to understand the

Jonathan Romney s Access All Areas
In the article, Access All Areas: The Real Space of Rock Documentary by Jonathan Romney, he
mainly focuses on the idea of backstage or behind the current and how it comes into play in rock
documentaries. He argues his points that the backstage of a concert is not a sacred place for celebrities
on and off the screen of a rock documentary, backstage is not a real home, and rock documentaries are
full of unauthentic and cliché scenes. The documentaries show the star on stage captivating the crowd
with their show and onstage antics then show a shot of them coming off stage and the viewers can
supposedly watch the mask lift off and the star s true self is revealed. Romney makes a reference to
Wizard Of Oz when the curtain is lifted and the true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romney emphasizes the documentaries try to convey that the star s offstage self is their purest
achievement because producing music, making videos, and playing shows is not enough to satisfy the
fans. The star is seen as more than a performer, they are seen as an icon or a force that manifests itself
and when the star is on stage performing and not their authentic self, it leaves the viewers confused
with the different personalities. Romney mentions David Bowie and Madonna to be two of the most
transparent celebrities but when they started acting, the several personalities overshadowed their true
selves. Backstage is not an artist s space; it will never take the shape of a home or a place of comfort.
The artist s environment is constantly changing and backstage is the closest they will get to have their
own space and feel some sense of control over it and assert dominance on anyone who invades it.
Romney mentions in Madonna s Truth or Dare In Bed with Madonna where she denied the
cameraman access to her trailer early on in the film to show who is boss and ultimately runs the

Ufo In Mushiro Analysis
UFO in Kushiro by Haruki Murakami takes its start from the Kobe earthquake in 1995. There is no
doubt, that many people have got affected by what just happened, either directly or indirectly, as of in
case of a couple Komura and his wife. Komura lives far away from Kobe in Tokyo, and has no danger
to be feared of, except that his wife was acting weird past five days, watching news without a break to
eat, to drink, and bath. Komura seems to be invisible to her; she does not react at all at his presence.
Since there is not much he can do about it, Komura tries to live his life as if nothing would happen.
However, in sixth day his wife left the house with a note, stating that even if he is handsome and good
husband, living with him became unbearable, since he is just a chunk of air. That was probably ...

Why Stereotypes Are Important Essay
There are many places where jokes are appreciated. At a friend s house, a comedy club, or a family
gathering, jokes are common, and even expected. However, there are many places where jokes should
not be told. Places such as a classroom, a serious dinner, and a business meeting, are not good settings
for jokes and laughter. I think it is important to learn when and where to tell jokes, not to always seek
attention, and know what jokes are appropriate for your setting. Jokes can be very helpful. After a
great loss, people might watch a comedy in the hopes of bringing their spirits up or forgetting about
their pain for just a few seconds. On the other hand, in class when teachers are trying to get work
done, one should not make jokes to get a few laughs. It is important to focus on the task at hand, and
not joke around until the time is right. Sometimes when people wisecrack, they throw ... Show more

Topics such as death and killing at schools is very sensitive, and no jokes should be made about this
subject. In recent years many kids have threatened to kill their classmates, and some of them followed
through with it. This is why when someone makes a fool of themselves and says something humorous
about the subject, they should be taken seriously and given the fitting punishment. It is important to
remember where you are and if anyone would be offended before you make a joke. Jokes are often
misinterpreted and can offend people. The saying Beauty is in the eye of beholder is similar with
humor. A joke isn t funny unless the audience finds it funny. There are places where comedy is normal
and it is okay to joke around. However, there are places, such as in a classroom, where jokes are not
appreciated, and can often lead to trouble. This is why one should learn when and where to tell jokes,

Replacing Amputated Limbs with Prosthetics
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION Prosthetic limb is an artificial device that is used to replace the
amputated part of the patient s limb. Myo prosthetic limb takes the signals from the patient s muscles,
which are live, to operate the artificial limb that is being used to replace the amputated part of the arm.
Through the mechanical and electrical technologies applications it tries to copy the movement of the
actual limb. In most cases, the bicep or triceps muscles can be used to retrieve those signals which are
to be processed further through circuitry. Other than that, any other muscle that is active and can give
the slight electrical signal can be used to process the signal. Myo prosthetic limb comprises of
electrical portion, that is the circuitry, as well as the mechanical portion that is the actuator and
gripper. The signals that are received can be used to actuate the gripper through which any object can
be picked, held and released as per the requirement of the patient. Multiple prototypes were developed
and improved in the previous years. But they needed few improvements to make them work perfectly.
The improvements were done this year. The signal acquisition and gripper actuation were improved
which resulted in the more efficient response of the limb. The response of the gripper was greatly
improved as well. The overall reliability of the system was increased significantly and was brought to
a level where it could be represented as a product. The circuitry was

Satan In John Steinbeck s The Book Of Job
God is sovereign and knows all, yet the man he created does not. He alone knows how strong each
individual s faith is and how far it can go before conforming. In The Book of Job, many people
believed God presented Job to Satan because he had something to prove. Satan s idea was simple if
God removed his hand from one of his most righteous followers that he would be cursed to his face.
God knew that Job was a prototype of an upright man and would prove Satan wrong. Without
hesitation God agreed and Satan commenced with the acquisition of Jobs life determined to hinder
Jobs faith. Satan has always had a hidden agenda sought to change the beliefs of man. Satan once said
he will redeem all mankind, that one shall not be lost, and surely I ... Show more content on

When Job curses the day that he was born his friend s reason for being takes a turn. They begin to tell
him how the innocent do not suffer but the wicked do. That Job must have sinned and this is why God
is doing this to him. I believe even though it was not stated in the story this is still the work of Satan.
Instead of physically attacking Job, and taking away possessions he is targeting him mentally. After
listening to his friends he challenges them to show him where he has sinned. Job complains about his
health and his life in a whole. While Job has not lost his faith he has lost any hope pertaining to his
life. He mocks his friends and reaches out to God to present his case. Job maintains his integrity

Bacteri The Natural World s Unsung Heroes
Abstract
Bacteria are the natural world s unsung heroes. They receive bad rep due to the disease causing
individuals like tuberculosis but the vast majority of bacteria on Earth are harmless if not beneficial to
both the environment and humans. Take for example E. Coli a well known bacteria that lives within
our intestines. This particular bacteria makes vitamins that we need in order to stay healthy. In this
experiment we analyzed the changes seen in bacteria when adding to differing DNA plasmids; pUC18
and lux. To arrive to the most accurate results possible we had to have the E. Coli bacteria made
permeable to the plasmids. So it was prepared with calcium chloride. One group of bacteria was given
the pUC18 plasmid, and the other group was given the lux as well as the pUC18 plasmids. We then
proceeded to incubate them in different containers. Some had ampicillin where as some had none.
This was done in order to observe the effect of pUC18, and lux growth patterns. A control with neither
plasmid was used to keep a basis for our experiments. Bacteria that had transformed and taken in the
lux plasmid without ampicilin were able to illuminate, and only bacteria that gained the pUC18 were
capable of surviving with ampicillin. The results observed reveal how foreign DNA can be adapted to
fit into another cell s DNA even incorporated to be an optimal part of the cell. This process makes it a
very viable manner of being able to mass replicate advantageous genes, that would

Jimmy Carter And His Foreign Affairs
On the other extreme is Jimmy Carter, president from 1977 to 1981. Ranked last for both his foreign
affairs and his overall presidency, Carter left the Oval Office a very unpopular man. Carter s sole
accolade came from the Camp David Accords of 1978 9. Carter invited Israeli prime minister
Menachem Begin and Egyptian prime minister Anwar Sadat to Camp David, the presidential retreat,
to work out an agreement. Carter played a major role in the negotiations, mediating a dispute that
resulted in a peace treaty, that is still intact to this day. Not only did this agreement lay down a long
held peace between two neighboring countries, but it also solidified U.S. ties in the Middle East.
Carter s other policies and actions are very different, such as the Torrijos Carter Treaties. These
treaties between Panama and the U.S. granted Panama control over the Canal as of 1999 for almost
nothing in response. The conservatives of Americans felt as though Carter had given away the Canal
without receiving anything in return, and this made them believe that our nation was becoming weak
under his power. The people s Crisis of Confidence clearly and accurately portrays the conservative s
opinions during Carter s presidency. Carter s biggest failure was indeed the Iranian Hostage Crisis that
lasted up until the preceding president s first day in office. In November 1979, Islamic militants who
were supporters of the Ayatollah took over the American Embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans

Overview of Labor Relations
LABOR RELATIONS 2
Labor Relations
Introduction
Labor relations are concerned with the learning and management practices of unionized situations of
employment. However, in the circles of academia, labor relations get classified as a subarea of
industrial relations, even though researchers from numerous disciplines also study labor movements
and labor unions. Nevertheless, in practice, labor relations get classified as a subarea in the
management of human resource. Therefore, the courses in labor relations characteristically look into
the history of labor, labor regulation, and organization of union, bargaining, administration of contract,
as well as, any contemporary topics that are significant. In the U.S., the labor relations of the private
sector get regulated through the Act of the National Labor Relations. On the other hand, the labor
relations of the public sector gets regulated through the Act of the Civil Service Reform that was
introduced in the year 1978, along with the appliance of a series of state pieces of legislation (Fossum,
2012). A look into other countries, the labor relations, could be standardized through tradition or law.
The association of Labor and Employment Relations is a significant professional organization for the
labor relations intellectuals, as well as, practitioners in the U.S. The employment, economy, as well as,
management of rights are some of the topics for thought when the discussion involves the manner in
which labor unions bring

Essay On Autonomic Dysreflexia
Introduction
Autonomic dysreflexia is a clinical syndrome that develops in a patient who has neurological damage
especially the ones with spinal cord injury (SCI) and develops hypertension. This is brought about by
developing a confusing impulse from the bowel or bladder resulting in uncontrolled hypertension in a
SCI patient. The SCI must be at the level of the sixth thoracic spine vertebrae (T6) and above for a
patient to be at risk of developing dysreflexia. This syndrome develops when there is an imbalance of
the autonomic nervous system. The imbalance leads the body in to systemic hypertension that may be
life threatening (Robertson Biaggioni, 2012). Hypertension may be uncontrolled and may result in
targeted organ failure hence causing serious complications such as cerebral hemorrhage, myocardial
infarction, pulmonary edema, retinal hemorrhage, renal insufficiency, seizures and even death.

The patient was admitted for physiotherapy and other management. Unfortunately, he was unable to
pass urine, and the suprapubic catheter was inserted. Such patients may easily develop autonomic
dysreflexia. Therefore, the symptoms to watch out are anxiety, skin flushing, headaches severe and
pounding, sweating a lot dilated pupils and hypertension (Gillenwater, 2001). The condition has to be
triggered by several things. This patient developed skin flushing and was dizzy. This prompted for the
vital observations. The blood pressure was very high. Hence, the management was to commence
immediately. In this case, of the blockage in the suprapubic catheter was the trigger for the condition.
The peripheral nerves will take the stimulus from the blocked catheter then to the spinal cord
(Gillenwater, 2001). In the spinal cord, it is increased and travels through the intact pathways and after
that produces a massive response that eventually leads to

Racist Material At Their Age
With criminal records, blacks have a five percent chance of getting accepted into a job, but whites
have a seventeen percent chance of getting accepted into the same job. Blacks and other races are
being discriminated in school by their own peers and by teachers and principals. Even in their work
environment blacks are being treated unfairly. Law enforcement is also treating blacks like every
single one of them is a thug.
Blacks are being discriminated throughout the country by their peers in school and by their teachers
and principals. A black fifth grader came home one day and told his parents he was being called a
nigger. He was the only black child in his class and it started when the class started reading a book
which contained the word nigger. A fifth grade class reading a book that contains such words can
cause them to become racist in the future. Reading a book that has racist material at their age can
make them develop a racist attitude towards blacks and other races. This bad attitude towards black
children can destroy their self esteem and prides, making them feel that their life has no value and that
they re less than everybody else. Children learning slang terms like nigger and bad representations of
black people can change their view towards blacks for the rest of their lives and it can even make them
feel hostile towards blacks, an incident of this occurred at the University of Mississippi. Three college

Pros And Cons Rea Essay
With any criminal offence there are two elements to the crime; the Mens Rea and the Actus Reus.
The Mens Rea element is the mental part of the crime and requires proof that the defendant was in a
guilty state of mind before the defendant can be convicted of a crime. There are three different types
of Mens Rea; direct and oblique intention, recklessness and negligence. Intention is differs from
motive or desire. For example if defendant kills their wife who is suffering from a terminal illness, to
relieve their suffering, may well act out of good motives. Nevertheless, this does not prevent them
having the necessary intention to kill. Cases which demonstrate intention include R v Moloney [1985]
AC 905 and R v Inglis [2011] 1 WLR 1110. Direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the case R v Cunningham [1957] 2 QB 396, reckless was put into question if the defendant
foresee the harm that in fact occurred, might occur from his actions, but continue regardless of the
risk. There are two different types of tests for reckless, subjective test and objective test. The difficulty
with a subjective test is that it is based entirely on the defendant s state of mind and it is for the
prosecution to prove that the defendant did anticipate the potential of harm.
Negligence is consequences caused by the actions of a person that fell below the standard of a
reasonable person. Negligence plays a minor role in criminal liability. It used to form the basis of
some driving offences but this has largely been superseded by recklessness. Cases for negligence
include R v Adomako [1994] 3 WLR 288, where an anaesthetist was charged with gross negligence
manslaughter after they failed to notice the oxygen pipe had been disconnected.
An Actus Reus consists of more than just an act. It also consists of whatever circumstances and
consequences are recognised for accountability for the offence in question, therefore all the elements
of an offence other than the Mens

Nebraska history as something that should be passed down from generation to generation. The
descriptions of the prairie s scenic landscape to the first impressions homesteaders had as they set foot
off the train to start a new life are all too omnipresent tales of experience in the Great Plains during the
19th century. This excerpt proudly displays Willa Cather s prose, As I looked about me I felt that the
grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the color
of wine stains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in
it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running. The beauty of her writing takes a ... Show

The dominant theme of the novel is the parallel lives of the two and their move from the prairie to the
city. It is there where Jim finds a world in stark contrast to the work and relationships found in the
Great Plains. Also, the story is about Antonia and her experiences as a migrant worker and young
woman. A strong theme is displayed in how the group of poor migrant women in this town work as
farmers, nannies, and maids as they grow up and decide where their paths will take them based off
their early choices. In the end, Antonia is where she precisely wants to be, married and parenting
children. I drew a line from the story that correctly honors this notion of Antonia s appearance to Jim
when he reunites with her after many years; I know so many women who have kept all the things she
had lost, but whose inner glow has faded. Whatever else was gone, Antonia had not lost the fire of her
life. Her skin, so brown and hardened, had not that look of flabbiness, as if the sap beneath it had been
secretly drawn

Sterling Marking Products Ing.
PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT:
We need to determine whether Sterling possesses the key success factors necessary to expand
internationally into the UK. Our analysis will evaluate the feasibility of Sterling s international
expansion via exporting, licensing and branching.
SITUATION ANALYSIS:
Market Segmentation (SWOT)
Strengths
Significantly higher market demand than in Canada (162k 192k vs. 87K)
Weaknesses
Barriers to entry include, high number of competitors, high exchange rate, high initial capital
requirements, cultural differences among sales people (perhaps not as aggressive as in Canada,
resulting in lower sales)
Lack of current Sterling brand identity
Development of bad reputation
Lack of die and embosser sub assembly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sterling will fail to achieve higher production and revenues. Sterling s presence in the UK market
would remain extremely low with a total number of Mark Maker units sold equaling 3000.
Additionally, Sterling s reputation would continue to be severally damaged as a result of poor die
manufacturing by Jordan, which could potentially harm Sterling Mark Maker s brand identity in other
parts of the world.
Exporter
Important aspect to keep in mind is that under this scenario Sterling is assuming that it will become
the sole provider of Mark Makers in the UK. It is irrational to expect to dominate the entire market
upon entry. While Sterling would be able to meet UK s demand, it would face some fearce
competition especially from UK s top seal producers, which include Jordan and Bolsom, who have
very loyal customers. Furthermore, duty, taxes and other regulatory exporting barriers would
significantly lower Sterling s potential revenues. On the positive side, Sterling would not be giving up
its core competency (computer technology) and the threat of patent duplication resulting in a potential
domestic branch failure would not exist. Additionally, Sterling would be able to test the market with
its problem without high risk exposure.
Licensing
This option possesses a threat to one of Sterling s core competencies, which is its state of the art
computer technology. It would not be in Sterling s best interest

As evidence suggests, the dropped in sales can be directly linked to some ethical issues and their

From Bloomberg Business in the article American Apparel Shorts Triple as Sales Growth Stalls is
stated After a period of steady sales growth and a rising stock price, the maker and seller of clothes
worn by hipsters worldwide has hit turbulence. To make matters worse, American Apparel s brand has
been losing cachet with teens and 20 somethings who are shifting from its jeans, T shirts, underwear

Sherman Alexie s Dreams In Reservation Blues
Sherman Alexie may write boring and uninteresting characters, but the dreams in Reservation Blues
are stellar. The dreams help the reader understand and connect what he is trying to write. With all the
sentences in his book that say some version of the horses screamed and all the dreams about the
cavalrymen killing horses and Indians, it is not hard to make the connections Alexie is trying to make.
The horses are the Indians, and they are being killed by the white man. This also goes hand in hand
with Alexie s view of nothing good happens on a reservation and life is just like the negative
stereotypes. The dreams he writes are mainly a snapshot of what he believes about the connection
between reservation life and white America. The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times the dreams include a scene of cavalrymen killing a horse or an Indian. Horses in dreams
are normally symbols of strength, but when there is a dead horse in a dream, it may be an indicator
that something in life that initially offered strength is now gone. On pages 142 to 145, Junior dreams
of being killed by cavalrymen. Junior dreamed about horses. He rode a horse along a rise above the
Columbia River, leading a large group of warriors. [...] One soldier walked over to Junior s pony,
placed a pistol carefully between its eyes, and pulled the trigger. The horse took a long time to fall.
(142 143). Riding a horse in dreams symbolizes a position of power, and since his horse was killed, it
symbolizes that power being taken away from him. The soldier, General George Wright, is always
depicted in dreams as killing a pony. . George Wright killed a colt in the very beginning of the book
and laments that death at the end when he returns his grave. In the end, Cavalry Records Sheridan and
Wright turn out to be the real Sheridan and Wright. The characters have dreamt about General George
Wright and General Phil Sheridan before they have ever met them. Alexie wrote them as the true
villains of this book and in real life through the dreams of the characters. They symbolize what he
believes to be the root of all problems for Native Americans. In other words, he blames white society .
Every dream featuring the duo showcases murder of horses/Indians or in Checkers case, attempted
rape and murder. Alexie writes Wright looked at Coyote Springs. He saw their Indian faces. He saw
the faces of millions of Indians, beaten, scarred by smallpox and frostbite, split open by bayonets and
bullets. He looked at his own white hands and saw the blood stains there. (pg 244). He writes these
real, historical generals as being regretful for what they have done in the past, but in the end nothing
comes of it,

Mildred Pierce
Mildred Pierce is a woman that s tied down by the social norms of the 30s where women have to be
attached to a man in order to be anything or have anything. Women at the time don t really have a
chance in the workplace. They were expected to be housewives and attended their husbands wants and
needs and take care of the family while the men did all the work and provided for the family. It was a
rare occurrence to see a woman working because that meant she was either single, divorced, widowed,
or were abandoned by their husband. Mildred was a married woman that had an unemployed cheating
husband. Whom she kicked out and was left alone to support her two children on her own. As the
story progresses, we see the approaches that Mildred takes in order to find a way to either get money
or make herself financially stable. As advised by her neighbor Mildred first tries to find a suitable
suitor that may help her become financially stable. During that time if women couldn t find a job there
first option was to find a husband and remarry in order to help them be financially stable. Then when
the plan with Wally the suitor she originally had in mind fails. She finally decided to go job hunting,
but unfortunately during the depression jobs were little to none. During these times it was extremely
hard for families to make ends meet. Men had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

about women. The expectations of women as compared to men in this time and how women were
forced to stay in the private sphere while men predominated in the public

Features of Decision Making in a Political System
WHAT FEATURES OF DECISION MAKING IN POLITICAL SYSTEMS INFLUENCE THE
PRACTICE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS?
INTRODUCTION
The changing role of law and the need to relate with a transforming society and its citizens has led to a
demand on decision making in political systems (Bijsterveld 2010). Due to the variance in the
decision making of these systems, interest groups carry out their public affairs (PA) activities in a
plethora of ways (Baumgartner 2007) as features such as type of political system, structure,
accountability, dependency on interest groups, etcetera influence PA practices. This stems from the
fact that issues that are significant in one political system might not be as significant in another
(Lowery, Poppelaars and Berkhout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PA is however carried out in an unbiased and harmonious way as lobbyists work hand in hand with
EU officials (Woll 2006, Mahoney 2008) and other interest groups, as the EU would rather grant
access to a Europeanized voice when addressing issues.
With regards to choice of policies to influence, interest groups in the US are more focused on
influencing legislative matters rather than regulatory policies (Baumgartner 2007, Mahoney 2008) as
they seeks to influence the decisions of the congress, the court or the administrative government
(Hansford 2004). The EU is a regulatory regime, therefore, organized interest groups particularly
business interests prefer to lobby regulatory processes to secure their individual and collective
business interests (Levy and Prakash 2003). This is done because regulatory processes affect
businesses and more often than not have policy outcomes (Baumgartner 2007).
The level of dependence on organized civil societies (OCS) is another feature that influences the
practice of PA. EU s dependence on OCS arises from their lack of resources both financial and human,
to carry out their activities. The EU commission is highly short staffed, and in need of OCS to provide
technical information and act as contributory agents (Greenwood 2007). Therefore, OCS play
consultative and cooperative roles particularly in the Commission as

Laws In To Kill A Mockingbird
Martin Luther King Jr once stated, Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and
when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of
social progress. Martin Luther King Jr. was explaining rules exist to keep thing fair, however they can
also prevent society was progressing if they are not right. To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper
Lee, narrates the lives of two children, Scout and Jem, whose father, Atticus Finch, is a lawyer
defending a black man. This man, Tom Robinson is accused of raping a white women. The Finch
children live lives that revolve around Boo Radley the town ghost whose very breath is driven by
rumors. Throughout the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee continually reveals that the laws of
Maycomb County cannot always be trusted. When the Ewells, a poor ignorant family, play the system
of rules, when Tom Robinson is found guilty, and Boo Radley gets away with murder, equality and
justice are questioned. The Ewells play the system of rules because they have no other way of
surviving. Scout hates going to school and does not want to go any more like the Ewells, however

Such programs involve basic skills training to reduce impairment and increase engagement in daily adaptive activities. The programs may target different cognitive domains such as attention and visuospatial awareness among others as necessary depending on the patient (Calleo, et al., 2012). One important aspect of cognitive training, also known as brain training, is the use of games to improve cognition. Jonathan Romney s Access All Areas In the article, Access All Areas: The Real Space of Rock Documentary by Jonathan Romney, he mainly focuses on the idea of backstage or behind the current and how it comes into play in rock documentaries. He argues his points that the backstage of a concert is not a sacred place for celebrities on and off the screen of a rock documentary, backstage is not a real home, and rock documentaries are full of unauthentic and cliché scenes. The documentaries show the star on stage captivating the crowd with their show and onstage antics then show a shot of them coming off stage and the viewers can supposedly watch the mask lift off and the star s true self is revealed. Romney mentions David Bowie and Madonna to be two of the most transparent celebrities but when they started acting, the several personalities overshadowed their true selves. Backstage is not an artist s space; it will never take the shape of a home or a place of comfort. The artist s environment is constantly changing and backstage is the closest they will get to have their own space and feel some sense of control over it and assert dominance on anyone who invades it. However, there are many places where jokes should not be told. Places such as a classroom, a serious dinner, and a business meeting, are not good settings for jokes and laughter. I think it is important to learn when and where to tell jokes, not to always seek attention, and know what jokes are appropriate for your setting. Jokes can be very helpful. • 8. Replacing Amputated Limbs with Prosthetics CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION Prosthetic limb is an artificial device that is used to replace the amputated part of the patient s limb. Myo prosthetic limb takes the signals from the patient s muscles, which are live, to operate the artificial limb that is being used to replace the amputated part of the arm. Through the mechanical and electrical technologies applications it tries to copy the movement of the actual limb. In most cases, the bicep or triceps muscles can be used to retrieve those signals which are to be processed further through circuitry. Other than that, any other muscle that is active and can give the slight electrical signal can be used to process the signal. Myo prosthetic limb comprises of electrical portion, that is the circuitry, as well as the mechanical portion that is the actuator and gripper. The signals that are received can be used to actuate the gripper through which any object can be picked, held and released as per the requirement of the patient. Multiple prototypes were developed and improved in the previous years. But they needed few improvements to make them work perfectly. The improvements were done this year. The signal acquisition and gripper actuation were improved which resulted in the more efficient response of the limb. The response of the gripper was greatly improved as well. The overall reliability of the system was increased significantly and was brought to a level where it could be represented as a product. The circuitry was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They receive bad rep due to the disease causing individuals like tuberculosis but the vast majority of bacteria on Earth are harmless if not beneficial to both the environment and humans. Take for example E. Coli a well known bacteria that lives within our intestines. This particular bacteria makes vitamins that we need in order to stay healthy. In this experiment we analyzed the changes seen in bacteria when adding to differing DNA plasmids; pUC18 and lux. To arrive to the most accurate results possible we had to have the E. Coli bacteria made permeable to the plasmids. So it was prepared with calcium chloride. One group of bacteria was given the pUC18 plasmid, and the other group was given the lux as well as the pUC18 plasmids. We then proceeded to incubate them in different containers. Some had ampicillin where as some had none. This was done in order to observe the effect of pUC18, and lux growth patterns. A control with neither plasmid was used to keep a basis for our experiments. Bacteria that had transformed and taken in the lux plasmid without ampicilin were able to illuminate, and only bacteria that gained the pUC18 were capable of surviving with ampicillin. The results observed reveal how foreign DNA can be adapted to fit into another cell s DNA even incorporated to be an optimal part of the cell. Ranked last for both his foreign affairs and his overall presidency, Carter left the Oval Office a very unpopular man. Carter s sole accolade came from the Camp David Accords of 1978 9. Carter invited Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian prime minister Anwar Sadat to Camp David, the presidential retreat, to work out an agreement. Carter played a major role in the negotiations, mediating a dispute that resulted in a peace treaty, that is still intact to this day. Not only did this agreement lay down a long held peace between two neighboring countries, but it also solidified U.S. ties in the Middle East. Carter s other policies and actions are very different, such as the Torrijos Carter Treaties. These treaties between Panama and the U.S. granted Panama control over the Canal as of 1999 for almost nothing in response. The conservatives of Americans felt as though Carter had given away the Canal without receiving anything in return, and this made them believe that our nation was becoming weak under his power. The people s Crisis of Confidence clearly and accurately portrays the conservative s opinions during Carter s presidency. INTRODUCTION The changing role of law and the need to relate with a transforming society and its citizens has led to a demand on decision making in political systems (Bijsterveld 2010). Due to the variance in the decision making of these systems, interest groups carry out their public affairs (PA) activities in a plethora of ways (Baumgartner 2007) as features such as type of political system, structure, accountability, dependency on interest groups, etcetera influence PA practices. This stems from the fact that issues that are significant in one political system might not be as significant in another (Lowery, Poppelaars and Berkhout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... PA is however carried out in an unbiased and harmonious way as lobbyists work hand in hand with EU officials (Woll 2006, Mahoney 2008) and other interest groups, as the EU would rather grant access to a Europeanized voice when addressing issues. With regards to choice of policies to influence, interest groups in the US are more focused on influencing legislative matters rather than regulatory policies (Baumgartner 2007, Mahoney 2008) as they seeks to influence the decisions of the congress, the court or the administrative government (Hansford 2004). The EU is a regulatory regime, therefore, organized interest groups particularly business interests prefer to lobby regulatory processes to secure their individual and collective business interests (Levy and Prakash 2003). This is done because regulatory processes affect businesses and more often than not have policy outcomes (Baumgartner 2007). The level of dependence on organized civil societies (OCS) is another feature that influences the practice of PA. EU s dependence on OCS arises from their lack of resources both financial and human, to carry out their activities. The EU commission is highly short staffed, and in need of OCS to provide technical information and act as contributory agents (Greenwood 2007). Therefore, OCS play consultative and cooperative roles particularly in the Commission as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
