Orphanages In The 1900s Research Paper
Orphanages in the 1900s
Orphanages back then were defined as kids without parents. A lot of the kids with single parents
were neglected. The orphans felt sad because they think about their parents. The kids were
abandoned or their homes were over crowded. Some kids were left on their own. The
Orphanages conditions were horrible. The kids would live in a life of crime because of it. Boys
were taught a trade and the girls were brought up to do domestic work. Some orphans were
treated bad or was neglected by the families that adopted them because they were in a higher

thinking that my family will come back . It means that they have hope in their parents to find them.

don t want them to leave again.
Orphanages are the only place that left me empty and full at the same time . It left them full

Jimi Henderson Analysis
David Henderson, an African American poet, wrote the article Jimi Hendrix Deep Within the
Blues and Alive Onstage at Woodstock 25 Years After Death to show how Jimi Hendrix has
continued to influence many people after his untimely death. Additionally, Henderson claims
that no other musician has been able to replicate Hendrix s precise and rapid picking and his
recognizance of sound and noise. Henderson personally knew Hendrix as he previously wrote his
book Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky to express his opinion on popular black music at the time
and as a promise he made to Hendrix at a nightclub in Manhattan in 1969. It is impossible to deny
that Jimi Hendrixhas not continued to be one of the most influential music artists due to his unique
way of play[ing] with feedback, control[ing] it, and make[ing] it melodic. A skill that no other
musical artist has been able to replicate. Another important aspect of Hendrix s life... Show more

In addition, many modern musicians have paid homage to Hendrix by performing covers of his
songs. Examples include when the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed Fire and when Living
Colour performed Crosstown Traffic in their tribute album. Jimi Hendrix has even had some
influence over the rap genre with well known rapper, Future naming his second album HNDRXX.
Henderson also states that to listen to Hendrix today is constantly to be reminded of his gifts.
Hendrix is highly regarded as one of the best guitarist in history even though his musical career
only spanned four years. With his psychedelic inspired riffs, improvisational ability and his ability
to range between pure blues and avant garde jazz forms it is no surprise that he is often referred to
as a virtuoso artist on

Bartleby Movie Themes
The film Bartleby represents the themes and characters of the story in numerous ways. Two major
themes of the story include choices and morality. In regard to making choices, Bartleby
continuously stated the phrase I would prefer not to , which shows that he took advantage of his
right to make decisions even if they did not please everyone else. This theme was translated in the
film because this is a phrase that Bartleby also stated countless times. The theme of mortality was
displayed in the short storywhen the narrator had a difficult time deciding how long he should
help Bartleby. Also, he wanted to decide if it would be right of him to give up on their work
relationship. However, he did act immorally by firing Bartleby and moving offices... Show more

which provides information about Bartleby that can further explain his behaviors. However, in the

he was employed at a Dead Letter Office. In their last encounter the narrator discovered the letter
of recommendation that he gave Bartleby and referred to it as a dead letter. In the story Bartleby
died, in the story in jail, but in the film it occurred under the freeway making the adaptation not so
faithful. The director also included numerous sexual based conversations and scenes that were not

Decision-Making Process Analysis
Decision making is from a variety of elements, skill set, mind set and past experiences to highlight
a few. However, as you stated Katherine it basically and figuratively comes down to accountability
and responsibility. As you stated If I made a wrong deception I earned and grew and new better
next time (Carvajal, 2015).
This reminds me of the news that occurred about a week ago, concerning the 22 year old college
student who squandered $90,000.00 college fund setup by her grandparents for her tuition for this
year. Then placing the blame on her parents for not teaching her financial responsibility.

While I may not go to such great lengths as outlined by the text, or as highlighted in models and
theories, under some circumstances they could be applied. Personally, I don t expect anything to
be handed to me, if I observe a deficiency then I seek ways to correct that need.
Depending on your undergraduate studies there may be no requirement for a managerial decision
class, if not no one is required to provide it. Real time and unfortunately being honest,
competencies can be built by proficiency skills or skillset and learning on the job. Decision
making skills can also be broken down into: basic, intermediate, advanced or expert. However, the
bottom line is accountability and responsibility for whatever decision you undertake.
I am quite confident when Abraham Lincoln was deciding on the Emancipation Proclamation he
had no formal training on the decision making process. From what I read John D. Rockefeller was
an average student, but parlayed certain skills into an empire. (American Experience,

Segregation In Charter Schools
Charter schools are basically tax payer funded, independent public schools that are free from
several of the regulations and laws that traditional public schools are governed by. They are
instead; constrained by a contract that specifies the mission of the school, its academic goals and
procedures for accountability. The initial charter schoolwas opened in 1992 as an answer to the
restriction of educational choice and the need to restructure the public educationsystem. Most
charter schools are run by for profit organizations and compose the principle elements for the
privatization shift in education and their goals are increased academic achievement. Since charter
schools are less restricted by the normal regulations of traditional public... Show more content on

High test scores equal improved academic success and charter schools use segregation as a
method of controlling the results of these standardized tests. One way that charter schools use
segregation to manipulate the outcome of test scores is by implementing a lottery system for
admission. This contributes to the weeding out of unambitious students within its applicants
since they are not as likely to even apply for admission. School choice was initially created as a
way for schools to diversify, regardless of the existing residential segregation. However, charter
schools are able to pick and choose which students are admitted and therefore, reduce the amount
of low performing students from attending, thus improving test scores. According to Ravitch
(2010), Education researchers call this skimming or cream skimming. It is a very effective way
for a school to generate high test scores regardless of the quality of its program (pg. 156). A
consequence that results from this skimming is that students of low income areas are being
dumped into the traditional public schools and are not allowed the equal opportunity of a better
education which is a form of

Gothic Element of The House of Seven Gables
Among the most striking features of the Gothic genre is the style of its architectural settings. In
early Gothic, these were often medievalist, involving ancient stone buildings with elaborate,
Gothic arches, buttresses, passageways, and crypts. This was to become the mise en scene of
Gothicism, replete with trappings of hidden doorways and secret chambers, incomprehensible
labyrinths, speaking portraits, and trapdoors. (Allen Lloyd Smith 7) Gothic Element of the Seven
Gables The House of the Seven Gables, by Nathanial Hawthorn is filled with gothic tropes and
features. Since the story takes place in the Pyncheon house or rather the Maule s property, I will

A few others in the Pyncheon family would find a similar death in generations to come. One of
those being the Judge whose similarities to the original Pyncheon can be said to be doubling
and uncanny. His desire for land and fortune is what inevitably, what led his similar death. If we
move away from the land and into the house, we can find other gothic features. Within the house
of the seven gables, there are several portraits. Hephzibah and Phoebe sometimes felt a presence
within the Portraits. Hepzibah found herself staring at a portrait of Colonel Puritan. In one
sense, this picture had almost faded into the canvas, and hidden itself behind the duskiness of
age; in another, she could not but fancy that it had been growing more prominent and strikingly
expressive, ever since her earliest familiarity with it as a child (63). The portraits are not actually
speaking as Lloyd mentioned above, but they do not need to be in order for them to be gothic. It
is that they seem to be real. For Hepzibah and Phoebe, some photos have a living quality. These
inanimate objects having lifelike features are enough for them to be gothic. In the story of Alice
Pyncheon, we hear her father speak with Mathew Maule negotiating for the house. This
conversation seems to anger the portrait. ... The ghostly portrait is averred to have lost all patience,

How Did Mexican Culture Influence Their Arts During The...
During the time of post revolution in the 1920 s, Mexico underwent an enormous transformation
from a mostly rural society to a largely industrialized and modern society. The various opinions of
the Mexican people and their modernized culture can be put into perspective by the artistic
expression of three famous artist Diego Rivera, JosГ© Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro
Siqueiros. They began a movement with wall paintings that focused on the political and social
conditions in Mexicoduring the 1920 s and gave an in depth story of their point of view through
their art. This essay will discuss a moderate overview of the impacts and influences of their art
during the 1920 s.
The Mexican Revolution began in 1910 with a political revolt against the tyrannical president
Porfirio Diaz. The civil war was led by a number of charismatic individuals whose personal
political agendas often determined the path of the decade long revolution. Accompanied by a
group of intellectual radicals, political leaders began to discuss a noticeable movement inspired by
the revolution. In the Library of Congress essays entitled La RevoluciГіn Mexicana y los ... Show

Some of these artists spent time in Europe before the revolution, and became well acquainted with
the European realism movement in which artists used painting to demonstrate the immoderate
conditions of the oppressed working classes. Many of the artists involved were ardent socialists or
communists, believing in the power of the working classes and in the equal distribution of wealth.
While the mural project commissioned numerous artists from across the country, the influence and
prominence of Orozco, Rivera, and Siqueiros was so great that their work became the face of the
movement. Each had a different personality, philosophy, style, wide range of influence, and a well
developed survey on Mexican muralism that was visible in their

Citizens Should NOT Be Allowed To Carry A Gun
There is many things that can be done to reduce the number of mass shootings. One thing that
they could do is limited who can own a gun. Law enforcement should only be allowed to carry a
gun while on duty. Citizens shouldn t be allowed to carry a gun. The only time citizens should be
allowed to have a gunis while hunting. The government should have places set up by hunting areas
for people to rent guns. Also, I think that everyone should get screened every five years for mental
illnesses. If someone is diagnosed with a mental illness, they should be treated immediately. They
should be put on medication and undergo therapy. I don t think that mass shootings should be

Comparing Frida And Pollock
The biographical films, Frida and Pollock both explore the lives of an artist and how their
conflicting life of illnesses and hardship influence their art. The text Frida explores an artist
named Frida Kahlo s controversial life and how her fertility struggles had an influence on her art
work, as well as other factors. Frida experienced a miscarriage, which resulted in emotional
agony to discover her son died. Fragile and angry, Frida painted herself lying naked on a hospital
bed covered in blood with six objects flying around her, one included the fetus of her dead son.
Frida used the painful experience and turned it into art. Her husband described her work as
agonized poetry on canvas. similarities in the text are displayed in Pollock. Jackson Pollock puts

on their lives as it was important to them. This factor combined with the illnesses created an
arduous life for the two artists, but it resulted in masterpiece paintings. Painting helped their pain by
transcending it onto the canvas. This challenges viewers to think that negative occurrences in life
can be turned into something positive. Inspiration doesn t always come from a subject matter but it

Entitlement For Fast Food
Horgan, 1
Entitlement
We have all been taught that one must work for what is desired. We start learning at a young age
if one does something for someone else, typically a form of pay would be returned. The pay one
had earned would range from candy to money, depending on the type and the amount of work that
was completed. Then, when one is essentially sixteen years of age, he or she would be able to
obtain a job in fast food as a crew member. This new fast food job is glamorous to the sixteen year
old; however, it is not seen as an advanced career opportunity. Nevertheless, Fast food employees
believe they are entitled to a higher wage than state minimum wage. The crew members in fast food

service and a smile. Another point stated on the McDonald?s web site is, ?People who wish to
enter our management programms need either a degree, or relevant work experience?
(McDonald). Therefore, they may or may not require any education. In the quote stated above,
you may notice programs spelled ?programms?. This misspelling proves how uneducated fast
food employees actually are, but they want to be paid more than those in a vital position of
society that obtain an education. Fast food employees have some valid points on why they are
demanding this higher wage. International Business Times states, ?Many McDonald?s cooks and
cashiers make wages that put them at or below the poverty line, and many say they cannot
support their families at the rates offered by McDonald?s owned locations and franchisees?

achieving career. Working as a crew member in fast food is not a career, it is an opportunity to
make some money when you are finishing high school. Mr. Schlooser states, fast food employers
prefer to hire teenagers and undereducated people (Schlooser). Fast food is not meant to be

Abuse Power In The Crucible
Another lesson I learned from reading The Crucible, is to not abuse power. Abusing power is
using power to an advantage in a bad way. Good leaders use their power to influence people in a
positive way, while bad leaders use their power mainly for personal benefits. In the play, many of
the characters with power abused it. They took complete control of situations influencing other
characters to do bad things. One character from the book that abuses his power is Judge
Danforth. Danforth ran all the trials for the witches , and was completely unfair. He made it
basically impossible for an accused witch to be innocent. He also didn t allow suspects to have
lawyers or anyone give information that disagreed with him. He considered different opinions
as contempt of court . When Mr. Nurse was clashing with Danforth over the issue, Danforth said,
do you know who I am, Mr. Nurse? (Act lll, Scene l) This shows that Danforth has the cocky
mindset that he is above everyone. Good leaders should be able to listen to critics. Danforth
believed that everyone accused was a witch; so he didn t even bother giving them a fair chance.
Many people died under his signature. He used his power to contribute to the destruction of the
town and many lives. Another example from the book deals with the ringleader of the group of
girls caught in the woods; Abigail Williams. Abigail happened to be the leader of the group, and
was completely evil. Abigail was able to influence a whole group of girls to

misunderstandings about dyslexia is the problem of a letter or word reversals or of letters,

letters and words backwards and the reversals of words may or may not indicate an underlying

may be many words they stumble, guess at, or attempt to sound out. The second sign is they may
often show decoding difficulties. This means their attempts to identify words they do not know
will produce many errors and will not be very accurate in using letter sound relationships in
combination with context to identify unknown words. It makes it very difficult for readers to

Most of us have a hard time imagining the concept of violence against women. The freedom from
threat of harassment, battering, and sexual assault is hard to grips. Violenceis a deep part of our

Stereotypes In The Movie Rush Hour
The comedic movie Rush Hour is known for its clever humor and intriguing diversion of two
extremely different cultures. The movie Rush Hour, is starred by the actor Jackie Chan and
famous comedian and actor Chris Tucker. James Carter played by Chris Tucker, as a Los
Angeles police department officer is given the role by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, also
known as the F.B.I., to babysit Inspector Lee and keep him out of the ongoing kidnapping
investigation. Jackie Chan, known in the movie as Inspector Lee, is a private inspector from
China that is sent to the United States by the Chinese Ambassador to help find his daughter who
was kidnapped. These two characters with two mismatched personalities, are forced to work
together to solve the case that will ultimately lead to the rescue of the Chinese Ambassador s
daughter. Stereotypes are introduced throughout films to create a character and give the character a
personality. The characters are also shown to break their stereotypes throughout the movie by the
various events that take place. In Rush Hour , James Carter and Inspector Lee are given specific

Monk s Character And Personality
The flaws in the character, Adrian Monk, are probably for the plot of the show. Monk s unique
character and personality are due to his OCD. As mentioned in the earlier, the detective
developed his obsessive compulsive disorder after the murder of his wife Judy in a car bomb.
The death traumatized the renowned detective and led to him trying to solve the murder
mystery throughout the series. Monk s OCD case would be considered an acquired type
(Pitman). There has been a similar case to Monk. In a study by Pitman, a 59 year old woman
developed OCD and phobias after seeing the charred body of her daughter. The two cases of
OCD have both been acquired after the two patients were traumatized by the death of their loved
ones. Similar to OCD, a traumatic event may trigger the development of a phobia (mayoclinic2).
In the series, Adrian Monk is revealed to have an older brother named Ambrose Monk. As stated
in Mr. Monk and the Three Pies, Ambrose spent 32 years in his home without ever leaving it due
to his agoraphobia or fearof open places. In a slideshow produced by WebMD, there is a statement
stating immediate family members of people with phobias are three times more likely to develop a
phobia than those without a family history, therefore it is not a coincidence that Adrian and
Ambrose have both developed phobias. Researchers at the Emory University School of Medicine
have discovered that mice can pass on learned information about traumatic or stressful experiences.

Reflection On Teacher Inquiry
As a learning support teacher and special educator, I find that I am continuously asking myself
questions about my teaching and what is best for my students. I spend a great deal of time
reflecting on how I can improve and change my practice and how I can best meet the needs of my
students. From many of these reflections come questions and wonderings that often require deeper
understanding and focus. Finding answers or possible solutions to these wonderings takes time if
changes are truly going to be implemented. In fact, Dana and Yendol Hoppey (2009) suggest, As
teachers seek out change and reflect on practice, the first step of their journey begins with
brainstorming questions or wonderings for exploration (pg.20). One way to find answers to these
wonderings is through problem based action research and teacher inquiry. Problem based action
research and teacher inquiry allows educators to focus on specific wonderings and can ultimately
provide educators with the information to make a difference in the classrooms and school. I know
and understand that with teacher inquiry the engagement and involvement of the teacher is
essential and the backbone of the inquiry. In my quest to becoming a highly reflective and effective
teacher, participating and in problem based action research and teacher inquiry is at the root.... Show

The High Cost Of Manliness By Jensen Summary
The High Cost of Manliness
1.Jensen sees the negative consequences of masculinity as men taking advantage of their manliness.
Some men show their manliness in a negative way, like being violent to achieve their desires rather
than looking for other ways to compromise. They like being in control and taking charge rather than
understanding and deciding on an agreement. It can sometimes be threatening to women and make
them feel powerless.
2.In paragraph 10 and 11, Jensen talks about many differences between men and women one of
which is their physical differences. Their body mass index differentiates and so does their
hormones. A manwould have more muscle so they tend to be way stronger than a woman. They
also have varying levels of different hormones. Jensen also mentions that there are many
similarities as well between men and women. In paragraph 13, he talks about 9/11 and how ... Show

Jensen does not provide sufficient evidence to support his point. According to paragraph 5, Jensen
indicates that violence and rivalry are the characteristics in businessmen, athletes, and veterans but
in the United States this applies to mostly all men. He is trying to say that not all men think of
masculinity as violence yet he only gives examples of men who do.
4.From the phrase recurring intellectual fad Jensen is trying to say that the different behavior we
adapt from different cultures and groups effect why men and women are so different. It adds to his
argument that the reason why men and women are so different are because of the political system.
5.I think Brent Staples would agree that toxic Masculinity results from a political system that
contrast men against women. According to black men and public space, staples admits that there
are many stereotypes about black men. People think that every black man is a criminal or a
burglar. In black men and public Space, he talks about how this white lady was afraid of him
thinking that she might be his next target to

Journalists And Public Relations Practitioners
Journalists and Public Relations (PR) practitioners interact with each other every day as part of the
process of news production. Journalists communicate towards public relations practitioners with
requests for information or material to help produce the stories they are writing. While public
relations practitioners advise stories and deliver journalists with information they have created
themselves in hope to be published in the newspaper.
The relationship between journalists and public relations practitioners is, and has always been,
complicated. The relationship between these two is one of mutually dependency if not symbiotic,

Even though they may have differences, both professions have the similar objectives created

Factors for Academic Success
What is academic success dependent on? This has been the question for many psychological
studies. To answer this question qualitative research needs to be done to investigate what
hinders or promotes academic success. This essay will investigate these factors by way of
interviews, while framing them in the context of current research. It will then be demonstrated
how the Job Demands Resource model can be used to inform such a study. First though it will be
shown why it is of the utmost importance to identify and understand these factors, in essence
why such research should be conducted. I Reasons for the research Education is the forefront to
any countries economic standing and through education there is a ripple effect that moves
through the economy and society. It was found that in a developing country an increase of 1% in
enrolment lead to a 0.1% increase in per capita GDP (Ogunade, 2011). Therefore understanding
what hinders and aids students in their studies could potentially lead to a better economic status
(Ogunade, 2011). There are 23 public universities in South Africa and the major problem facing
them is high drop out rates and low retention (Maphosa, Sikhwari, Ndebele, Mashela, 2014). It has
been observed that in 2007 20% of students dropped out after the first year of studies and an
additional 30% after the second year, which indicates only 50% of students finished there degree
and only 15% on the allotted time (Maphosa, Sikhwari, Ndebele, Mashela, 2014).

The Pros And Cons Of Tariffs
United States of America, being one of the largest economies for importing steel, is imposing
taxes of around 256% on china. It is found out that china has been accused of dumping and
therefore it is selling its steel at a lower price. US is imposing taxes at other countries too, such as
India, south Korea and Italy. The domestic producers, are suffering because the imports have been
rising, as stated in the article Imports of all steel products through October rose 3.9 percent in 2015
, and the quantity demanded of the domestic goods are reducing as the price levels are not
matching, and hence the tariffs are imposed.
Tariffis a form of trade protectionism, which is applied when there is free trade between the
countries, and the domestic consumption of good produced by the domestic producer is less.
Hence, Tariff basically is a tax levied on imported goods. The US govt is imposing tariffs on china
and few other customers in order to protect the domestic economy.

production for them which might lead on to economies of scale as the average cost of production
reduces and hence the they would get higher profits. While imposition of tariff for the foreign
producers is bad as the imports have reduced as the Q4 Q1 is greater that Q3 Q2, which are the
imports after the imposition of tariff. So the Quantity of import has reduced, and thus the revenues
for the foreign producers would reduce and therefore lead to fall in

Analysis Of Long Day s Journey Into The Night And The Enemy
In the two readings of Eugene O Neill s Long Day s Journey Into the Night and Margarita
Spalding Gerry s The Enemy , we can compare and contrast the main characters of the women in
each reading on behalf of their drug addiction. In Eugene O Neill s Long Day s Journey Into the
Night, Mary Tyrone struggles with her addictionof Morphineand in Margarita Spalding Gerry s The
Enemy , Mrs. Campbell also struggles with morphine addiction. In both readings we can
compare and contrast each of these women s lifestyles and how they are affected by their
morphine addiction. In both readings, these two women were prescribed morphine by their
doctors. In Long Day s Journey Into the Night, Mary Tyrone is prescribed morphine for her so
called Rheumatism and Mrs. Cambell from The Enemy was prescribed morphine for some
slight neuralgic trouble, after analyzing both texts, it seems like the reasons for their morphine
prescription is just a cover up for a different and a more deep reasoning to kill their pain. In The
Enemy the doctor is blamed for prescribing Mrs. Campbell morphine just to make a profit, Oh
yes, there are always druggists that pander to anything with a profit Both doctors can be put at
fault for the start of their addiction for prescribing morphine to someone who does not
necessarily need it. By prescribing morphine to these women, they have an excuse to continue
their use of morphine because they believe they have a logical problem that they need to control.
In Long Day s Journey Into the Night, Mary recognizes her doctor is all in it for profit, I hate
doctors! They ll do anything anything to keep them coming to them. They ll sell their souls!
What s worse, they ll sell yours, and you never know it till one day you find yourself in hell!
(P.76) Even though Mary recognizes the truth behind these doctors, she stills uses her Rheumatism
disease as a legitimate excuse to use morphine as she explains to her son Edmund that she shouldn
t be ashamed of her addiction, I suffer from rheumatism in my hands and have to take medicine to
kill the pain? Why should I be ashamed of that? (P. 118) The more in depth cause of these
addictions may be affected by cultural expectations of their

Challenges Faced By Pakistan As An Impoverished Nation And...
Issues of unstable governance are directly related to the difficulties confronted by developing

It can achieve this by managing the country and its problems in a decently proficient manner, taking

strategies to fight the obstacles coming in its way of advancement. Most of the developing
countries tend to face similar problems and require serious governmentreforms in order to defeat

Most Vegeable Power Struggle In Propertius Poetry
Throughout Propertius poem 1.3, there are evident themes of vulnerability between the narrator
and his mistress, Cynthia. It is never clear which character is the most vulnerable and there is an
interchangeable power struggle. Propertius makes Cynthia s role in the poem unclear, as there are
allusions that Cynthia may be the narrator s wife. Cynthia s ambiguous role also adds to the power
struggle between the two characters since the narrator includes her domineering reproaches at the
end of the poem. One particular line, 16 (osculaque admota sumere et arma manu/oscula admota

She also sings to the Orphean lyre, which refers back to the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. In
Cynthia s dialogue, she also implies to be the narrator s wife as she reproaches him for being at

to an assertive faithful wife. In power roles of the poem, there is juxtaposition between Cynthia and
the narrator. At the beginning while Cynthia is the sleeping maiden, the narrator is the spectator
driven by passion and drunkenness. Due to his drunken state, one might interpret line 10 (et
quaterent sera nocte facem pueri) as instead of boys, a group of cupids waving or their love
torches. By interpreting arma as the object of admota and a euphemism for penis, we can sense a
potential rape (some scholars may take positam or Cynthia as the object of admota). Therefore his
inebriated state is fueling the temptation to physically touch and even rape the sleeping

Abstract This research examined and listed some of the evidence demonstrating the long run
consequences of slow economic recovery after periods of recessions in the U.S. economy on wage
earners of a four person family. Economy shifts were examined and its effect on the four member
family, two adult wage earners, and two children was analyzed. This trend and shift of and within
the economy contributed to the overall wholeness and well being of the family. As a rising
economy produced family stability and productive home environments, a declining economy
produced insecurity and a negative home environment. Whether negative or positive, the economy

Where Do I See Myself
The question is where do I see myself in five to ten years. The honest answer is I don t know
where I m going to be or what my career is going to be in the future. Right now I have no idea
what I want to do with my life. Hopefully, I will move out of my parents house, get married to
someone that I can see spending the rest of my life with and have a couple of children. I wantto be a
father so my kids can carry on the family name and most importantly to watch them grow up and
raise them like my parents have done for my brother and myself. I hope in ten years that I will
be at a steady and stable job that I enjoy going to every day and that I make enough money to
support my family and not be worrying about money issues. Also, I hope that I m done with school
and have achieved the highest degree in my career field and hopefully I have no student loans that I
needto payoff. Lastly, I see myself some place sunny and warm all year round with a house
overlooking the water.
Meanwhile, there are certain qualities that I have that I bring to a relationship. First of all I m a
good listener so I will listen to what my partner has to say and I won t ignore them when they
need advice or when they need to get something off their chest. I will be there when my partner

Humans are curious creatures who observe the world to find meaning in life, but the world is not
clear cut, meaning there are no definite answers. Furthermore, since a single truth does not exist
in the world, the way people view something may be different from another s view. People try to
find purpose in their life, but this can change over time as with many things. One example is how
writing styles change from era to era: Post modernist writing takes place after World II when the
writing style changes from Romance, with nature and love encompassing all, to Post Modernism,
when everything is terrible and filled with corruption. People can interpret things in various ways

aspects of her life, which makes her see everything as if it is related to the society. In a play that
can be interpreted in many ways she only notices the one word Trystero, which is a part of the
secret society (Pynchon 58). Of all the various meanings that Oedipa could have taken from the
play, she takes the one that is associated with the society. Humans see what they want to see
(Riordan 137). In Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, gods exist, but mortals cannot view
them. It is not a matter of actual vision, but more so what people can comprehend. Most people
could not view gods in their god form and therefore try to picture them as something they are
more familiar with. This means that when people are handed different options and views they will
take the one that is the easiest for them to comprehend. There is a phenomenon known as the
Backfire Effect which states that when people s belief is undermined and proven wrong, then they
will have an even stronger belief in it (David McRaney). McRaney viewed a study where false
newspapers were given to people before truthful ones and most people believed the first, untruthful
newspaper rather than the second, truthful one. People will stick with their beliefs through thick
and thin and become near sighted in the end. They do not want things to change that they had a
strong belief in and will neglect any information that says otherwise. People do not like change and
that can cloud their judgment, but this should not stop them from their purpose of having a belief

The initial charter schoolwas opened in 1992 as an answer to the restriction of educational choice and the need to restructure the public educationsystem. High test scores equal improved academic success and charter schools use segregation as a method of controlling the results of these standardized tests. One way that charter schools use segregation to manipulate the outcome of test scores is by implementing a lottery system for admission. This contributes to the weeding out of unambitious students within its applicants since they are not as likely to even apply for admission. School choice was initially created as a way for schools to diversify, regardless of the existing residential segregation. However, charter schools are able to pick and choose which students are admitted and therefore, reduce the amount of low performing students from attending, thus improving test scores. According to Ravitch (2010), Education researchers call this skimming or cream skimming. It is a very effective way for a school to generate high test scores regardless of the quality of its program (pg. 156). If we move away from the land and into the house, we can find other gothic features. Within the house of the seven gables, there are several portraits. Hephzibah and Phoebe sometimes felt a presence within the Portraits. Hepzibah found herself staring at a portrait of Colonel Puritan. In one sense, this picture had almost faded into the canvas, and hidden itself behind the duskiness of age; in another, she could not but fancy that it had been growing more prominent and strikingly expressive, ever since her earliest familiarity with it as a child (63). The portraits are not actually speaking as Lloyd mentioned above, but they do not need to be in order for them to be gothic. It is that they seem to be real. For Hepzibah and Phoebe, some photos have a living quality. These inanimate objects having lifelike features are enough for them to be gothic. Good leaders use their power to influence people in a positive way, while bad leaders use their power mainly for personal benefits. In the play, many of the characters with power abused it. They took complete control of situations influencing other characters to do bad things. One character from the book that abuses his power is Judge Danforth. Danforth ran all the trials for the witches , and was completely unfair. He made it basically impossible for an accused witch to be innocent. When Mr. Nurse was clashing with Danforth over the issue, Danforth said, do you know who I am, Mr. Nurse? (Act lll, Scene l) This shows that Danforth has the cocky mindset that he is above everyone. Some men show their manliness in a negative way, like being violent to achieve their desires rather than looking for other ways to compromise. They like being in control and taking charge rather than understanding and deciding on an agreement. It can sometimes be threatening to women and make them feel powerless. 2.In paragraph 10 and 11, Jensen talks about many differences between men and women one of which is their physical differences. Their body mass index differentiates and so does their hormones. A manwould have more muscle so they tend to be way stronger than a woman. They also have varying levels of different hormones. Jensen also mentions that there are many similarities as well between men and women. In paragraph 13, he talks about 9/11 and how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jensen does not provide sufficient evidence to support his point. According to paragraph 5, Jensen indicates that violence and rivalry are the characteristics in businessmen, athletes, and veterans but in the United States this applies to mostly all men. It adds to his argument that the reason why men and women are so different are because of the political system. 5.I think Brent Staples would agree that toxic Masculinity results from a political system that contrast men against women. According to black men and public space, staples admits that there are many stereotypes about black men. People think that every black man is a criminal or a burglar. In The Enemy the doctor is blamed for prescribing Mrs. Campbell morphine just to make a profit, Oh yes, there are always druggists that pander to anything with a profit Both doctors can be put at fault for the start of their addiction for prescribing morphine to someone who does not necessarily need it. Cynthia s ambiguous role also adds to the power struggle between the two characters since the narrator includes her domineering reproaches at the end of the poem. Through the poem, we see Cynthia transition from vulernable maiden to praised goddess to an assertive faithful wife. In power roles of the poem, there is juxtaposition between Cynthia and the narrator. At the beginning while Cynthia is the sleeping maiden, the narrator is the spectator driven by passion and drunkenness. Due to his drunken state, one might interpret line 10 (et quaterent sera nocte facem pueri) as instead of boys, a group of cupids waving or their love torches. People will stick with their beliefs through thick and thin and become near sighted in the end.
