Advanced Automation System in Industrial Applications Using PIC Microcontrol...IJMER
The main aim of this paper is to design and develop an advanced automation system in the
industries. In this technique we are using the GSM modem which have the SIM card present in it, the
user can send message on the 10 digit SIM number using the cell phone from any part of the world. The
micro controller is programmed using the embedded C. when the user will send the message to a
particular device that particular device will be on or we can also off the device. Example if the motor is
in over voltage, under voltage, over current in that time the microcontroller will trip the circuit and give
the message feedback to the user. The micro controller will read the temp from the sensor and it will
display the same on the LCD when the incoming temp crosses the set limit the micro controller will turn
OFF the device and will send the message to owner using the SIM card present in the GSM modem. We
can also check the continuous status of the device.
Wherever electrical power is generated, there is also power dissipation, which heats up the components. This heat needs to be transferred away to prevent overheating. For semiconductors there is a maximum junction temperature, above which the semiconductor ceases to work. The right method to dissipate excess heat heavily depends on the mechanical and environmental conditions, as well as the field of application.
Conduction Cooling is a way of transporting the heat without needing fans, and also providing a metal frame makes the solution even more rugged!

Failures of safety-critical electronic systems can result in loss of life, substantial financial damage or severe harm to the environment.
Safe computer systems are typically used in avionics or railway applications requiring particularly high reliability. This also goes for the medical market, while industrial automation environments demand more and more functional safety as technology becomes readily available.
A secure system is one where the features are relatively inaccessible to unauthorized users, therefore the system is protected.
A safe system needs to be secure, whereas, a secure system may not need to be safe depending on the application.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

CB30C Rugged COM Express
Safe Computer
2. Done by MEN
The CB30C is a safe Rugged COM Express module based on
NXP/Qualcomm QorIQ (single-core P1013 or dual-core P1022)
for safety-related applications meeting EN 50129 SIL 2,
for rolling-stock or industrial control systems.
CB30C Rugged COM Express Safe Computer
3. 1. For which markets can I use the CB30C COM module?
2. What makes the CB30C COM module rugged?
3. What makes the CB30C COM module safe?
4. It is safe and robust. But what about I/O?
5. COM Express but PowerPC processor?
CB30C Rugged COM Express Safe Computer
5. 1. For which markets can I use the CB30C COM module?
The CB30C can be used in all markets which need to be
robust and/or safety-related applications.
Due to the EN 50155-compliance and SIL 2-certification
it is ready to use and highly cost-effective for railways.
But even for industrial applications which do not require
any ruggedization, the CB30C is also available as normal
COM Express module, compliant to COM Express Basic
type 6.
7. The CB30C is developed according to the Rugged COM Express
standard, VITA 59. Based on proven COM Express form factors,
this standard defines the mechanical measures to make the boards
really robust. It is realized by adding a massive aluminum frame
around the electronics, which protects the electronics from outs-
ide influences like dust, humidity or EMC interferences, allows an
extended temperature range from theoretically up to -55 to +125°C
with conduction cooling and gives the possibility to firmly screw it
on the carrier for shock and vibration resistance.
2. What makes the CB30C COM module rugged?
9. On the CB30C different mechanism are implemented to ensure safe
and reliable operation. It is developed in accordance with EN 50128,
EN 50129, IEC 61508 and comes with SIL 2 certificates from TÜV
SÜD. The functional safety architecture is based on monitoring all
safe CPU subsystem environmental conditions, e.g., voltages and
temperature. If safe operation of the CPU subsystem cannot be
guaranteed, the safe supervisor (SUPV) removes the power of the
subsystem, ensuring all external communications are stopped. An
onboard event logger helps to analyze errors while reducing software
overhead.
3. What makes the CB30C COM module safe?
11. With its focus on safe design, the CB30C still offers ample
I/O functionality, including two or three Gigabit Ethernet and
PCI Express interfaces, two SATA channels, up to four USB
2.0 ports, UARTs and general-purpose I/O. DVI or LVDS can
be implemented for graphics functions.
Up to 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM with ECC support and a soldered
eMMC storage device round out the CPU.
4. It is safe and robust. But what about I/O?
13. Yes, that’s another advantage of Rugged COM Express
RCE. Unlike other COM standards limited to x86 chip-
sets only, RCE is processor independent for scalability
and flexibility. Current modules accommodate a variety
of Intel, PowerPC and ARM processors to satisfy
application-specific requirements ranging from
low-power mobile apps to high-end communications
platforms.
5. COM Express but PowerPC processor?
