Television Televisions through time went from bulky, low resolution models to
elegant High Definition (HD), Ultra HD displays. As they got slimmer, the
resolution went higher as well, allowing for sharper images when gaming or
watching movies and shows. It has been made possible by the addition of more

Audio has improved as well, by being able to connect wireless speakers to the TV

Kathryn Schulz is an excellent writer who wrote an essay, Evidence, regarding her
ways of thinking and how different types of evidence prove said different ways of

362). She explains in great detail throughout the entire piece the importance of
evidence in everyday life. The evidence she is explaining is the proof of why
people think how they think or why they do what they do. We care about what is
probable. We determine what is probable based on our prior experience of the world

The two ways of thinking that Schulz explains in her essay are unmodified assertions
and self subversive thinking. She compares the user of unmodified assertions to a
confident bulldozer. Unmodified assertions include words like, always, never and
best/worst, while self subversive thinking includes types of words such as but; those

thinking are very important, generally people take evidence in both ways; people

Our forefathers who wrote the Declaration of Independence and served the people
from their states came together to form ideas and write a Constitution that would
protect the people, property and their rights as citizen of the United States. These two
documents are what we were founded on. The simple version of the 8th Amendment,

Testimony coerced through humiliating, degrading treatment would be admissible

Part of the act was rewritten making soldiers no longer subject to legal prosecution
under United States law for what, before the amendment, was defined as a war crime,

The Patriot Act in 2010 added criminalization of pure speech in furtherance of the

The coercion and torturing captured terrorist is needed to protect national security in
the war against terrorism. There are numerous justifications why the coercion or
torture of terrorist is normally a lesser evil than the preventable mass murder of
innocent victims (Slater, Summer 2006).
With all the new legislation and measures need for the protection of the American
people does this mean we are going to become as barbaric as a foreign country? Do
we really need to torture people until they are willing to give up information? Do
we need to spy on our own people? As with any additional legislation it gives the
government a broader chance of spying on its people and taking away a right to
privacy. Slowly the people s rights are being replaced with the government s need to
control.

Building A New Culture Of Teaching And Learning Essay
School sucks. You hear it from so many different types of students, but it isn t just the
students noticing it. These two words are one of the main attention grabbers in a
video, by Dr. Tae, that addresses some of the problems with our education system.
One of the problems Tae addresses is depersonalization, but he only mentions it at the
university level. However, when looking at other sources it becomes apparent that
depersonalization is occurring throughout our educationsystem. In Building a New
Culture of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Tae brings up many points about why our
education system is failing. Tae talks about the depersonalization, specifically in
collegelecture halls, occurring in schools that makes for a large loss of a student s
education. Another big point Tae makes in his video is that our schoolsystems are
hiring teachers for the wrong reasons, and that many of our primary and secondary
school teachers aren t qualified or don t want to teach. As a solution, Tae draws the
comparisons between what is happening in our schools versus what he calls actual
learning, which he compares to skateboarding. So, what is depersonalization and
why is its effect on education so negative? Depersonalization, according to Dr. Tae,
is the loss of the lively exchange of ideas that should be happening because of the
large lecture hall sizes and the minimal engagement that occurs within many of them.
