murdering Jews, destroying and demolishing other people s property. That night was
called Kristallnacht. By far, Kristallnacht was the largest, most destructive, and most
clearly orchestrated of the pogroms. Pogroms is a Russian word meaning devastation.
In the first three months of Hitler ruling, over forty Jews were murdered. Hitler ruled
