World War II And The Korean War
Modern warfare is warfare using the concepts, methods, and military technology that
have come into use during and after World War II and the Korean War.[citation
needed] The concepts and methods have assumed more complex forms of the 19th
and early 20th century antecedents, largely due to the widespread use of highly
advanced information technology, and combatants must modernize constantly to
preserve their battle worthiness.[1] Although total warwas thought to be the form of
international conflicts from the experience of the French Revolutionary Wars to
World War II, the term no longer describes warfare in which a belligerent use all of
its resources to destroy the enemy s organized ability to engage in war. The practice
of total war which had been in use for over a century, as a form of war policy, has
been changed dramatically with greater awareness of tactical, operational, and
strategic battle information.
War in modern times has been the inclusion of civilians and civilian infrastructure as
targets in destroying the enemy s ability to engage in war.[disputed discuss] The
targeting of civilians developed from two distinct theories.[citation needed] The first
theory was that if enough civilians were killed, factories could not function. The
second theory was that if civilians were killed, the enemy would be so demoralized
that it would have no ability to wage further war.[citation needed] However, UNICEF
reports that civilian fatalities are down from 20 percent

The Berlin Wall
Escape hatch no more. The Berlin wall consisted of barbed wire and concrete, it was
built to prevent East Germans from fleeing for their democratic freedom. Once the
communist government realized that their people were fleeing the country they were
outraged. According to History.com, the Communist government of the German
Democratic Republic (GDR) constructed the wall on August 13, 1961. Now
because of this there is no more departing. Everyone on the East side of Germany
could no longer flee without their life being seized. They were stranded. There was
no more escaping the Communist Government and they . It was a wall of shame or

The Book Of Esther
INTRODUCTION TO ESTHER At first read the book of Esther is a story of a
Queen who was able to achieve a heroic act that saved her people from being
destroyed. However as you examine the story it s more than a historic story of
triumph, but through the actions of the characters in the story it becomes a blueprint
for many aspects of leadership. By examining the different dimensions of the
leadership traits of King Ahasuerus, Haman, Mordecai and Esther will represent the
different facet of developing into a leader. King Ahasuerus Decisions The book of
Esther starts by saying King Ahasuerus ruled over one hundred and twenty seven
provinces, which gave him reign over many people. Throughout the book of Esther it
never mentions the type of leader... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To accomplish that you need to be center and supported by those that will
encourage your potential as Mordecai did for Esther. Conclusion There are many
lessons to be learned from King Ahasuerus, Haman, Mordecai and Queen Esther in
how leadership should be developing by their actions. King Ahasuerus approach
and convictions of his decisions showed that it requires complete commitment to
your decision. It was Haman s pride that leads to his demise when he could have
been a leader that embraces different people. Mordecai humbleness lead him to
greatness and Esther ablity to follow lead her against all the odds. What I can take
away from Esther is that leadership is more than giving orders for others to follow.
It is an individual who can look past themselves and help others become and do
more than they think they can. To be a good leader it means more than knowing
your field and reading reports but it is also very personal because what you do is
share what you know and guide others to success. Leaders with always be faced with
difficult decisions and time of uncertainty but they beat the odds by allowing God to
be the center and stabilize through all
Analysis Of The Movie Concussion
It is painful playing football. It is a somber remark made by a retired football star
who would soon abandon his family, become homeless, and eventually kill himself
at the age of 50. As Webster s mental stability rapidly deteriorates, a former Steelers
team doctor and good friend Dr. Julian Bailes (Alec Baldwin) is baffled by brain
scans that show complete normalcy. His despair over the situation worsens as
added ex NFL players meet similar, untimely demises brought about by suicidal

Nathaniel Hawthorn
Author Nathaniel Hawthorn, who is considered one of the Great American authors,
wrote during the Romanticism period. Particularly, in his work titles The Scarlet
Letter written in 1850 we can see evidence of the characteristics, themes and style
identified with the Romantic Movement which was extant in American letters
between 1800 and 1850. As a representative of such a movement, Nathanial then
remains one of the most identifiable and iconic writers of his time.
Nathaniel Hawthorn was born on July 4, 1804, in Salem, Massachusetts. His father

Ronald Reagan s President Of The United States
Who knew a small town boy turned actor would become our most impactful
president? Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, charmed voters
with his good looks, demeanor and effective storytelling qualities. He grew up in a
small town in western Illinois, and after college became a radio broadcaster who
was popular for his speaking abilities. He then went on to test for movies, and his
career took off when Warner Brothers began casting him in their films. Hollywood
shaped Reagan s life because it caused him to shift to the right politically, and to
eventually run as a Republican despite being raised as a Democrat. Reagan is the

As the infected number and death toll continued to rise, Reagan made the fight
against AIDS a priority and over the course of the 80 s spent $2.3 billion on it to
search for a cure. Although the national debt severely increased under Reagan, he
struggled to fix the failing American economy and there was economic growth
during his presidency. Reagan inherited a poor economy from past presidents, but
he did his best to fix it. Reagan s economic policy was dubbed Reaganomics, or
supply side economics, and it had the goal of lowering the taxes of wealthy
individuals and businesses in hopes that they would stimulate the rest of the
economy. Under Reagan, the Economic Recovery Tax Act lowered many different
types of taxes, and he believed that under a free market and a more laissez faire
approach, the economy would fix itself over time. Reagan also deregulated
industries, especially transportation and oil industries. Although manufacturing
declined, the service industries actually grew under Reagan. Reagan also had the
vision of shrinking the size of the federal government. He spent less on social
programs, but kept previous programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. While in
office, Reagan appointed many new positions in government. He is remembered for
appointing the first woman to the Supreme Court, Sandra Day O Connor. She was
more liberal than Reagan expected her to be, and he continued to appoint more
conservatives to the Supreme Court.
Similarities Between 1984 And Today
There are lots of similarities between the novel 1984 and our world today. Here are a
few main examples:
1. In 1984 , the citizens in Oceania had no control over their privacy and were
constantly being monitored by the government, ( Big Brother ). Today, many states
and governments still utilize vigilance and control on the public through the internet
/media. The government is constantly monitoring what people say and do online,
(on social media, search engines, etc.). Even if you re not doing anything bad
online, like doing some simple research for a school project, or even if you re just
playing an online game, the government can still easily see and watch exactly what
you re doing. I m sure that the government does this for good reasons,
Impact Of Photography Research Paper

the conditions of third world countries, photography allows people to express
themselves as a form of art, photography also influences our opinions on matters

Since the Vietnam War, photography has had an impact on what people think on
issues like war. During the Vietnam War, a war between North Vietnam, which
wanted communism, and South Vietnam, that wanted democracy, the war was the
first war to be broadcasted on television. American citizens knew what American
soldiers were going through, and what they were putting others through, Through
the power of imagery, we are pushed to question our core beliefs and our
responsibilities to each other as international citizens. In this sense, photography has
the power to shine an uncompromising light on critical issues... (Ferdous, Ismail
Photography as Activism Pg.4) Americans saw the iconic yet disturbing images of
Northern Vietnamese citizens being shot for disagreeing with the democratic
leaders (South Vietnamese police chief Gen. Nguyen Ngoc Loan killing Viet Cong
suspect photographed by Eddie Adams), and a monk burning himself alive, so
Americans stopped supporting the soldiers, because the photographs shocked
them, and that is not what Americans wanted. Photographs are real life events, and
to see something as disturbing as someone being shot in the head, or burning
themselves alive because it was wrong to disagree with someone else s beliefs, will
make people change their opinions on war. My Lai Massacre was a massacre by
American soldiers, in which between 347 and 504 Vietnamese were killed. Official
Army
Analysis Of Lone Survivor
Lone Survivor: Mission First Every soldier in the ARMY of the United States of
America knows the following phrase from the Soldier s Creed: I will always place
the mission first (ARMY.mil). The aforementioned is arguably the most powerful
line in the Soldier s Creed and exists in different variants across the branches of the
military. The life of a soldier is not an easy one, so it is to be expected that there
will be times that a soldier will have to make difficult decisions. Sometimes these
decisions will dictate between life and death. However, the Soldier s Creed and
other oaths alike, are promises not only to one s country and those serving beside
you, but also an agreement with oneself to carry the weight of what it takes to
fulfill his/her country. In the movie, Lone Survivor, four Navy Seals made the
decision to spare the lives of three men which ultimately resulted in the death of
three of the four Seals and 16 rescuers. I believe that the decision they made
contradicted the idea of mission first and a more aggressive decision should have
been elected. The elite squad of Seals neglected to place the mission first when the
two goat herders and a boy were released. The release of these three men was
outrageously dangerous and a complete sabotage to the mission at hand. They did
not want to kill the men because it was not the right thing to do , and also ruled
against tying the men to trees and gagging them as they were scared they would be
eaten by wolves. In
Rooster by Christopher Bruce Essay
Rooster
Review by Paris Day
Rooster is a dance piece choreographed by Christopher Bruce. It was originally
premiered by the Ballet du Grand Theatre de Geneve in 1991. It is a contemporary
ballet piece performed by ten dancers to eight of The Rolling Stones most memorable
hits.
Christopher Bruce based the production on the sexual war he witnessed growing up
in the 1960 s. His intention was to celebrate the music of The Rolling Stones and use
the qualities of the songs to reflect this. The production is set in the 1960 s when the
rights of males and females began to equalise.
The lighting during the performance of Rooster is mostly dark and dull. It is very
simple with slight colour changes at times, but for the majority of ... Show more

The women were able to take off their red scarves to represent them taking a stand
against the men. They are trying to become independent and unique. The male soloist
is wearing a red shirt to show that he is becoming different to the other males. Red is
the inferior colour which could symbolise him becoming more like the women and
less masculine than the other men.
Rooster is performed on an undecorated stage. It is supposed to be presented as a
Saturday night at a club or party. At one point the women have red scarves which
they remove from their neck to dance with. In Play with Fire the female soloist also
has a red feather bower.
The music throughout the performance is by The Rolling Stones. The first song,
Little Red Rooster is very laid back and lazy sounding. It has a slow but consistent
tempo throughout the song. The second song, Lady Jane has a very slow tempo.
This is possibly because it contains lots partner work. The third song, Not Fade
Away is significantly faster than the previous songs. There is also lots of clapping
in time with the music which gives it a kind of celebratory feel. The fourth song,
As Tears Go By once again has a slow tempo. It has a very relaxed feel at the same
time as being sad. This assists in developing the choreographers intent because in this
section the female dancer is being rejected. The fifth song, Paint it Black is where the
first costume change takes

Analysis Of William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
A Rose for Emily
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily tells a story about the life of a woman who
grows up in a small southern town shortly after the turn of the 20th century. He tells
the reader about the struggles that Ms. Emily and town of Jefferson face in trying to
move on from their past and adjusting to the inevitable changes that time brings.
Hans H Skei writes in his critical essay that A Rose for Emilyis the first story about
Faulkner s townspeople in any real sense, and it is the first story in which a
community point of view through a first person plural narrator (Skei). In reading
Faulkner s story, the reader can see that when the narrator uses we , that he is
referring to the people of the town. By doing this, the reader gets a sense that even
though the title of the story has the main character s name in it, Faulkner considers
the townspeople to be just as important as Emily in A Rose for Emily. In the story
Faulkner writes how both of these characters struggle with the changes that occur
throughout the passing years.
Managing change is difficult, but inevitable. Changes also affect people
differently. While some people thrive, others have a harder time in adjusting.
While describing Ms. Emily s house, the narrator tells the reader that cotton mills
and warehouses are encroaching on her house. Ms. Emily s house is described in
the story as a style from some years past. In fact, her house was built in the 1870 s.
What once had been a residential area of the town, is now turning into a thriving
industrial district. This suggests to the reader that the town is progressing while Ms.
Emily is stuck in the past. However, the reader can see from the first part of the
story that the people of the town have not been able to moved on from their past
either.
The story starts out at Ms. Emily s funeral. The narrator also tells the reader that for
Ms. Emily s funeral, everyone that lived in the town showed up. During the 1800 s
and earlier, weddings and funerals in southern towns were treated as events where
everyone was included. But during the time period of the story, weddings and
funerals were only for close friends and family. Faulkner also writes the men through
a sort of respectful
The Rocking Horse Winner
D. H. Lawrence was born in England on September 11, 1885. Lawrence grew up in
the small mining town of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire where his father, Arthur John
Lawrence, was a coal miner, and Lydia Lawrence, his mother, worked in the lace
making industry (D.H Lawrence Biography). The same town depended on the mining
industry to provide jobs for the family s. Growing up in Eastwood, Lawrence was
bullied at school for not playing sports like the other boys. Lawrence father, Arthur,
wanted him to follow his footsteps and become a miner but Lawrence did not want
to. Lawrence became the first boy in Eastwood to win a county council scholarship to
attend Nottinghamhigh school (D.H Lawrence Biography). In high school, the
scholarship boys where separated in a different class. In 1906, Lawrence left
Eastwood to attend the University of Nottingham were he got his teacher s
certificate. Lawrence is known for his interest in materialism and modern society.
These themes have been found in the The Rocking Horse Winner , which described
a young boy by the name of Paul who has no luck. Paul would ride his lucky horse
to find the winner of the horse s name. Paul and his uncle would gamble on the lucky
horse to get money so he can support the mothers money hunger needs, which she
needed desperately. He uses symbols, such as the house and the rocking horse to
create an allegory on how he uses greed, materialism, and modern society throughout
his story. Paul s home was a
The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Movies that feature characters adapted from novels often change personality traits in
order to suit the film s plot. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is no exception;
Mina Harker and the Invisible Man had drastic changes made to their personality in
order to better suit the storyline. Both of them were given traits that starkly contradict
their book personas to create more flawed and realistic characters.
The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells features Griffin, a scientist who has discovered how
to turn himself and other things invisible. The story follows the undoing of Griffin
and his fall into notoriety. Wilhelmina Mina Harker is the opposite of Griffin. In
Dracula by Bram Stoker she is the dutiful wife to Jonathan Harker, who has ... Show

This can be attributed to the fact that Rodney Skinner is not the original Invisible
Man. Skinner is a petty thief who stole the formula for invisibility and used it on
himself. The biggest difference between Griffin and Skinner is their response to
setbacks. In The Invisible Man Griffin has a terrible temper. When things don t go
his way he lashes out or injures those who try to stop him. Skinner, on the other
hand, has a very calm demeanor. After finding out that the League had been
betrayed he didn t lash out; in fact he took that as an opportunity to prove himself as
useful to the team. This difference is caused by Griffin and Skinner s motivations.
At first Skinner used his invisibility as a way to become a better thief. Despite his
primary intentions, Skinner began to use his invisibility for the greater good. Griffin
however, wanted to use invisibility to gain recognition. It was ironic how he turned
himself invisible so people would begin to notice him.
Griffin s selfish behavior is made clear throughout The Invisible Man, especially
towards the end. Griffin uses a man named Mr. Marvel as a pawn and puts the old
man in danger in order to protect himself. We also find out that his selfish behavior
started long before he became invisible. We see Griffin tell Kemp about how he stole
money from his father to further his scientific investigations. This is opposite to
Skinner s self sacrificing behavior in the
Dixon s Explanation For Democratic Peace
While it is well known that democratic states are just as likely to go to war as their
non democratic counterparts and that no two major democracies have been involved
in war, no one has been able to offer an explanation for why democracies are better
suited for peace. Dixon attempts to offer his own narrowed explanation due to
previous arguments being rendered invalid.
Literature Review Dixon realizes that in presenting an explanation for democratic
peace he must narrowly define the three core concepts that make up the argument:
democracy, norms, and peaceful settlement. He states that democracy cannot be
defined by the previous definitions provided by Dahl (1971), Lipset (1959), and
Powell (1982). His reasoning behind this is that democracies
Case Study Of Tata Motors Acquisition Jaguar
Background on Tata Motors Acquiring Jaguar
Tata Motors is India s largest passenger automobile and commercial vehicle

differences in approaches to acquisition process. TATA employed a method which is
directly opposite to Daimler. The essence of this method lay in respecting the existing
culture rather than imposing a foreign culture. The expansion continues with the
Acquisition of Jaguar Land Rover, the world s most respectable and iconic brands.
The concept of acquisition factor that leads to successful can be understood better
with the case of Tata acquiring Jaguar and Land Rover Land Deal. The deal
basically focuses on the prime sector of automobile and the reputation of companies
at their own segment. Globally, the number and size of deals is heading toward

United States. United States was no longer able to use the ports in New Orleans

Foreign Minister Charles Talleyrand offered to sell the whole territory at $15
million dollars. The reason behind the sale was because the finance minister did not
think the land was of any value to France, unlike other places they had acquired.
Also, the French army was attacked by yellow fever as they were going to attack
Saint Dominique making them weak. Another reason would be an inevitable war
arising between France and British. With these facts at hand, the finance minister
convinced Napoleon to the selling of the territory to the United States who were
desperate for it. Talleyrand did the negotiation with the Livingston and Monroe and
reached an agreement on April 30, 1803. However, the message was officially

Victor influenced himself to follow a path in life full of science and experiment. At
the beginning of the book, he wrote letters to his sister explaining his journey and

voluntarily endured cold, famine, thirst, and want of sleep:... and devoted my nights
to the study of mathematics, the theory of medicine, and those branches of physical

spent many hours searching and learning and then applying that knowledge.
Cornelius Agrippa also influenced victor yo follow a path in life full of science

Project Plan For A Project Management Plan
Introduction
This paper is aimed at developing an elaborated project plan for the project that we
have been discussing in the past weeks. The key idea of this comprehensive project
plan is to prepare a detailed formal document which charts out a plan for end to end
execution of the project. If a project is not supported by an adequate project
management plan then it will a big risk of losing out on track and may not achieve
its objectives. Hence, it is essential for every manager to bring out a project
management plan before moving onto the project execution phase. The key elements
of this plan are primary and secondary objectives, planning elaborations, important
decisions and assumptions and so on. Using this document, managers can create
communication mechanisms, project baselines and detailed strategies to achieve the
project objectives (Harris, 2011). Narrowing down the focus, I have documented a
detailed plan of transformation for the motorcycles maker into manufacturer of a
touring class motorcycles. Meanwhile, the company will continue to produce the
existing product range to hold onto its present consumer base. This will save the
company against any financial risk in case of any failure.
Project Scope
As defined earlier, this project is to develop larger, touring motor cycles used for
long distance, rough riding. These bikes will have powerful and robust engines to
support the positioning of a powerful bike. These engines will have a minimum
capacity of 1100 cc.

The desire to change one s body image is very prevalent in today s society; and in
most cases what people want to change is their weight. Companies who market diet
programs and miracle diet drugs are very much aware of this commonality among
consumers and take advantage of the susceptible nature of those who want to lose the
weight and lose it fast. Among the multitude of pills, programs and promises that are
offered as cures to the unhappiness of being fat, one new concept has emerged that
stretches the boundaries of logic: the catabolic diet.
WHAT IS THE CATABOLIC DIET?
The catabolic diet is based on the concept that a person can eat catabolic foods that
actually have a negative calorie effect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to digest food, your body must use several organs like muscles, intestines,
digestive juices, blood cells, liver, pancreas, etc. By using these organs during the
digestive process, your body burns calories. Eating a 300 calorie piece of cake
may only require fifty calories to be lost in the digestive process, therefore you
retain 250 calories. But, if you were to eat a twenty five calorie catabolic food, it
may take 100 calories to digest it, thus you have lost 75 calories from your fat
deposit. After this factual information the site gives the necessary testimonial.
Apparently while on the catabolic diet, . . .one lady went from 395 pounds to 156
pounds in a matter of months. The site also claims that this miraculous weight loss
of 239 pounds is documented in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
But wait, what about the list of catabolic foods? Well, to be privy to that
information, one must pay $23.70 for the diet program book. Looking for something
a little more informative on the catabolic diet, like the history of the diet and its
creator? If you go to http://www.rarebooks.net/beck.cataboli.htm, you will come
across a thirteen page detailed explanation of the diet from it s debut in 1935 to the
present. According to this website, the catabolic diet was created by Dr. Victor

Key Value Stores And Its Impact On The Organization
Essay
As there is a rise in data volumes, the manageability of data and storing these huge
volumes of data became a cause of concern to most of the organizations. It was
during this period when Number of SQL or more popularly NoSQL was
introduced, to process these large amounts of data efficiently and effectively. For
this purpose, various Data Store categories were developed, based on the different
data models. Some of the categories are: 1.Key Value Stores This is the simplest
data store. It uses a data model similar to memcached distributed, in memory cache,
with a single key value index for all of the data. Apart from providing persistence
mechanism, key value stores also provide additional functionalities such as
replication, versioning, locking, transactions, sorting and other features. The client
interface supports transactional operations such as inserts, delete, update and
index lookups. Scalability which is the most important feature of distributed data
stores, is provided through the distribution of keys over nodes. None of the key
value stores offer secondary indices or keys. Some commercial key value stores
available in the market are Voldemort, Riak, Redis, Scalaris and Tokyo Cabinet.
Most of the products have backward compatibility, which is a good thing. Example:
Key Value store is best suited for simple applications with only one kind of object
and the searches are performed based on one attribute only. Suppose you have a web

Advantages Of High Speed Railway
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in high speed trains. High
speed railway (HSR) has been making a great success all over the globe,
particularly in china, where the railway track will reach a total length of 30,000
Km by 2020 [1]. HSR now is one of the most popular transportation means, which
flourishes due to its unique features such as, safety, higher commuter seat capacity,
decreased fare rate, comfy journey experience, lower disruption probability due to
bad weather, as well as less fuel consumption resulting in a greener environment as
compared to the air transportation [2]. Nowadays, more and more efforts are made

Providing an internet access to passengers with high quality of service (QoS) is a
key role in attracting more travellers [3]. Wireless communication systems to provide
internet access for HSR are facing a lot of challenges such as, time varying and
frequency selective fading due to multipath propagation and Doppler shift effect
[4], a high penetration loss of 10 40 dB depending on the type of train and the angle
of incidence resulting in spotty coverage and dropped calls [5], frequent handover
due to the train high motion velocity will result in an increase in the drop off rates,
degrading the overall system throughput also group handover caused by the
simultaneous handover where hundreds of devices in the same train will request to
handoff at the same time, causing a huge burden at the base station (BS) in terms of
processing and resources. Moreover, an HSR propagation channel includes multiple
terrains and scenarios such as urban, suburban, rural, plains, viaduct, tunnels, cuttings
and stations [6], this variety found to cause a deep fade so we need to be familiar
with those propagation conditions and channel fading of HSR to achieve high data

independence, followed by Burma, Malaysia, and Ceylon. In Africa the
decolonization started a few years later, first in Libya and Egypt, and in the rest of
the continent afterwards. The main colonists were the Great Britain and France. The
history has shown that Great Britain succeeded to decolonize generally in peace
while France had much more problems to give up its colonies, which led to
numerous conflicts opposing the colonists and the colonized. It has been the case
especially in Algeria where a murderous war lasted almost eight years. The

in France and then in Algeria, where he moved in 1953. With the outbreak of the
Algerian Revolution in 1954 he started studying the Algerian situation and joined the

racism when he arrived in France. Thus it is not surprising that he identified to the
Algerian people who were colonized by the French, and more generally to all

How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant...
How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the
Eastern United States.
Introduction
Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for
affecting other organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in
forest habitats such as in the Eastern United States because they are capable of
destroying potential forest habitat of other organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992).
For example, deer have a negative impact on forest ecosystems by trampling and over
browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other native species.
Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer
(Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart
and Long, 2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat
fragmentation from land development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure.
Individual deer ranges varied during seasonal times, deer movements are usually
greatest during the peak breeding months from late fall through winter (Williams et.
al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have significant effects on
plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a large
amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the
growth, reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et.
al, 2016). The impacts of white tailed deer on forests along the Eastern United

Aquatic Refraction Lab
In scimatics we have been learning how light bends. In class we used a light
simulator called phet.It is very important to learn about light because we need light
to see and it s good to know how it works. My hypothesis is when you shine light
through objects the refraction will be low if the medium had a high density.
When light shines through objects with different densities, the light will react
differently. For example, if you shine light from air to water, the angle of incidence
is 30 degrees. Also When the beam of the light hits the surface of the water some of
the light reflects and the angle of it is 30 degrees too,but the angle of refraction is
only 22 degrees.when you shine light from water to air it reacts differently.... Show

When you shine light from water to air the intensity of the refraction is 95.33 and
intensity of the reflection is 4.67%. Finally, the intensity of the refraction when you
shine light through glass is 94.34,and the intensity of the reflection is 5.68%. The
reason that this is happening is because if the medium is more dense the intensity of
the refraction will be lower. This is why the refraction is lower when you shine light
through glass more than water because glass is more dense than water. In addition, if
the medium is more dense the intensity of the reflection will be higher and that is
why the intensity of the reflection when light was shine through glass is higher than
water.
The wavelength gets shorter when you shine it through glass more than water
because the more dense the medium is the wavelength becomes shorter. Also, when
you shine a beam of light through a prism it would reflect of one of the sides which
creates an angle and it also separate the light and forms into a

the fence and gate also prevents young children, without supervision, from entering

The Wavelength Of The Beam Separation

The graph produce a straight line that passes through the origin, with the distance

the slit separation increased, the distance between adjacent maxima decreased, and as
the slit separation decreased, the distance between adjacent maxima increases.

As a result, there appears to have been very little impact on the data due to random
errors. As the data was close enough for the line of best fit to go through the origin,
then it can be assumed that the impact of systematic errors was quite low.
Discussion Errors and Improvements
There were likely slight inconsistencies in the data which indicates that there was
some impact due to random and systematic errors.
A source of random error that likely occurred several times during this experiment,
there were several opportunities for an error of parallax to occur. The first would
have been when a pencil was used to mark the location of the fringes on the screen,
where the person using the pencil was to the left of the screen, allowing for
incorrectly marking the centre of the fringes. The second time when an error of
parallax could have occurred was during the measurement of the total distance
between of the four gaps, using a millimetre ruler. As the precision required for
measurements at this scale is quite small, for the person performing the
measurements, an error of parallax was likely to have occurred. The possible
impact of these errors was decreased by the repeated measurements and mean
averaging calculations, and as the data correlates strongly with the line of best fit, as
indicated by the R2 value, the impact due to random errors of parallax is likely small.
A source of systematic error is that the

1.INTRODUCTION 1.1 Objective of the project: With the vast development and
deployment of wireless mobile networks such as 3G UMTS, WiMAX and Wi Fi ,
mobile networking applications enabling customers to gain network access
anywhere and anytime have attracted more and more attention in our daily lives.
When the basic functionalities of a wireless network have been in place,
customers are now more interested in value added mobile applications over this
network. Most mobile applications come with the emergence of electronic trading
(mobile commerce or m commerce), hence good secure mobile trading model
must be designed to attract more mobile users for doing business wirelessly. Thus,
how to integrate the mobile applications with a secure trading model becomes an
important design issue, which will significantly affect the success of any value
added mobile application. This is the major topic of this project. 1.2 Existing
system: Mobile applications can be categorized into session based applications and
event based applications. In event based applications, user s payment is reflected by
one time events. Examples include sending a message, querying traffic information,
or purchasing a song. A session based application consists of three phases: the
session setup phase, the communication phase and the session release phase. A
customer is charged for a session based application based on either time spent or data

The Importance Of Conservation During The Progressive
Era
Conservation was the most important reform, from this time period, since it
worked towards protecting the United State s physical environment which leads to
obtaining the essential resources of nature, preserving the naturality of the planet,
and living a higher quality of life. During the Progressive Era the Second Industrial
Revolution was in action, sprouting new technological advancements and ground
breaking creations or processes. During this era, new inventions were being made
and big monopolies were increasing their use of natural resources to a point where
it was becoming harmful. One of the areas of resources that was becoming
alarmingly low was forests and lumber, leading to the Forest Reserve Act of 1891.
This act, which occurred during the conservation reform, allowed the president to
choose forests of interests and claim them as reserves, protecting them from being
harmed or negatively affected by big businesses. With the Forest Act many other
acts protecting the Earth s resources sprung up as well. All of the acts that were
passed restricted important resources from being wasted and blatantly used for
company production areas. These acts, enlisted in terms of the government, would
allow the president to choose areas in which resources could always exist and
couldn t be overused. The areas chosen would include places with plentiful natural
assets and a large range of land. This early protection against the act of
overharvesting, lead to people being able to

The Women s Winner Of The Wimbledon Championship
Success is sometimes a long and winding journey. Many times you need to overcome
the barriers that block you and naysayers who doubt you. Sometimes you need to
fight though your own self doubts to achieve success in your life.
Marion Bartoli, the women s winner of the Wimbledon Championship, had to take a
long and winding journey to overcome many barriers, naysayers and self doubts to
achieve to reach the pinnacle of the professional tennis world and become a
champion. Whether you follow or play tennis or not, the following are seven secrets
to achieving more success can be applied to your life:
1. Believe in Success Marion, from the age of six years old, believed that she would
win the Wimbledon championship. Because of this unwavering belief, she
developed the attitude that she would someday win the tournament. She developed
powerful goals, developed a detailed action plan to accomplish her goals, and stayed
focused on achieving those goals. Once your belief is in place, you will develop the
persistence to overcome many obstacles on your success journey.
What goals do you want to achieve? What steps will you take to achieve your goals?
When will you start?
2.Visualize Your Success Marion would visualize herself winning the Wimbledon
Championship. She would visualize every detail of the championship: what the
crowds would look like, the sounds of the crowd, and the smell of the foods. Marion
would visualize what it would look like for her to dominate her opponents.

he opened a school for the community to learn about his methods and how to become
a fantastic pastry chef. This school was of course open to the public which also
allowed his completion to come and learn new things. As his success grew he was

had grown to know is the chocolate covered almond cake. Another one of Lenotre
s genius work was mastering the science of being able to freeze pastry products.
Throughout his long journey freezing was one of many accomplishments, he also

This is regrettable.
The world needs great coaches now more than ever and when you are able to

When it comes to selling, clear systems are sidelined for more shall we say
organic methods.
Don t trust that feeling...
Many coaches communicate the value of their products and services by feeling
into it. They try to guess what the customer needs to know.
These coaches have no idea if they have connected with the customer, answered
the right questions or offered enough benefits to motivate a purchase.
When you have a system for selling that includes the questions your prospective
customer may have about your product or service, you will able to anticipate and
remove their doubts.
You will feel calm and confident when you talk to your customers because you
will have all the answers on hand.
Your self assuredness and your ability to answer any and all questions will
greatly boost your customers confidence in you, your product or service.
And this, in turn, will go a long way toward motivating your customer to make a
purchase.

What Is The Source Of Injustice In The Prince And The
Pauper
In The Prince and the Pauper the main source of injustice is from the monarchy
that was controlled by King Henry VIII during 15th century England. Tom Canty
and Edward Tudor( the prince) trade cloths and then released they looked very
similar. They decided to trade places because they thought that they each had what
the other wanted. They were separated while Tom Canty was posing as prince the
king died and this put Tom Canty in power. The king has ruled a monarch based on
the belief of divine right. Divine right is when a blood line considered godly by a
group of people therefore that blood line can do what ever they want because God
has given the there blessing. There are several characters that rise above the limits
of there society to change it for the better. Tom Canty is one of the best examples
of a character that rises above his society to better the people around him. The first
example of this is when he refuses to beg he is better for it by his father but
begging is agent the law. When he is posing as the king he pardons many people of
crimes that they were unjustly charged with. He is also very honest about knot being
the king even though know one believes him. When the real king shows up he gives
him his title back. Toms honest and resilience are his main characteristics that help

Burbank Drug Abuse Research Paper
I am writing to you today regarding the recent outbreaks of Hepatitis A Virus (HAV)
and the importance of hand washing. As you might know San Diego and Santa Cruz
Counties are now experiencing outbreak epidemics, and our own county of Los
Angeles declared a week ago, its own HAV outbreak.
The majority of infection cases are with homeless persons or illicit drug users, or
both, along with those who provide services to the homeless population. Having
worked the homeless count over the past few years, I can attest for the increase of
homeless individuals, not only in Burbank but in San Fernando Valley. Additionally,
due to the building expansion in downtown Los Angeles, surrounding suburbs such as
Glendale, North Hollywood, and Burbank are ... Show more content on

Sadly, I often (too often) see individuals leave the restroom without washing their
hands. You can imagine my concern, not only for the homeless population but for
others. I therefore, took it upon myself to make quality hand washing signs,
downloaded from the CDC (Centers of Disease Control and Prevention) for the
public restrooms in Burbank that are popular with the homeless population.
Currently, the Burbank Central Library has this signage as they wanted to align
themselves with BTAC and join in being proactive in preventing HAV in our city. I
have ordered more signs, for the other two Burbank libraries, and am requesting, per
your approval, that one sign be hung in each of the bathrooms in the police
department lobby.
I also constructed HAV flyers to be handed out to homeless individuals that frequent
the hill area and not BTAC, for preventative measures. In doing so, I am certain, that
by educating everyone in the importance of hand washing, administering vaccines,
and installing hand hygiene signs, that Burbank can and will stay ahead of the

Even nowadays they have a stable relationship (Li 6). Needless to say that after
growing up in a stable and big family, Toni Morrison started her own family. In
1958 she married Harold Morrison from Jamaica and in 1961 her first son, Harold
Ford, was born. In summer 1964 the family took a trip to Europe, but Chloe Morrison
returned alone with her three year2
old son and got divorced shortly after. Till today she does not want to tell detailed
reasons why the relationship did not last. Temporarily she returned to her family in
Lorain, where her second son, Slade Kevin, was born (Tewarson 37). She always
took her role as a mother very seriously and tried to raise her two sons to become
independent and sensitive human beings. She passed care and emotional support,
which she got from her own family, to their children. Writing, working and child
caring were not always easy, but she had to get used to the fact that she could only
write in small pieces. Consequently she developed a huge power to concentrate
(Tewarson 49). Surprisingly she found her role as a mother liberating, because her
children asked for other things than others . For example managing things and
showing a good sense of humor. The person that was in me that I liked best was the
one my children seemed to want. (Taylor Guthrie 270). After presenting the
background of her family I would like to go on with highlighting Toni Morrison s
educational development and career. When Chloe Wofford

  • 2. World War II And The Korean War Modern warfare is warfare using the concepts, methods, and military technology that have come into use during and after World War II and the Korean War.[citation needed] The concepts and methods have assumed more complex forms of the 19th and early 20th century antecedents, largely due to the widespread use of highly advanced information technology, and combatants must modernize constantly to preserve their battle worthiness.[1] Although total warwas thought to be the form of international conflicts from the experience of the French Revolutionary Wars to World War II, the term no longer describes warfare in which a belligerent use all of its resources to destroy the enemy s organized ability to engage in war. The practice of total war which had been in use for over a century, as a form of war policy, has been changed dramatically with greater awareness of tactical, operational, and strategic battle information. War in modern times has been the inclusion of civilians and civilian infrastructure as targets in destroying the enemy s ability to engage in war.[disputed discuss] The targeting of civilians developed from two distinct theories.[citation needed] The first theory was that if enough civilians were killed, factories could not function. The second theory was that if civilians were killed, the enemy would be so demoralized that it would have no ability to wage further war.[citation needed] However, UNICEF reports that civilian fatalities are down from 20 percent

The Berlin wall consisted of barbed wire and concrete, it was built to prevent East Germans from fleeing for their democratic freedom. Everyone on the East side of Germany could no longer flee without their life being seized. They were stranded. There was no more escaping the Communist Government and they . It was Haman s pride that leads to his demise when he could have been a leader that embraces different people. Mordecai humbleness lead him to greatness and Esther ablity to follow lead her against all the odds. What I can take away from Esther is that leadership is more than giving orders for others to follow. It is an individual who can look past themselves and help others become and do more than they think they can. To be a good leader it means more than knowing your field and reading reports but it is also very personal because what you do is share what you know and guide others to success. Reagan inherited a poor economy from past presidents, but he did his best to fix it. Reagan s economic policy was dubbed Reaganomics, or supply side economics, and it had the goal of lowering the taxes of wealthy individuals and businesses in hopes that they would stimulate the rest of the economy. Under Reagan, the Economic Recovery Tax Act lowered many different types of taxes, and he believed that under a free market and a more laissez faire approach, the economy would fix itself over time. Reagan also deregulated industries, especially transportation and oil industries. Although manufacturing declined, the service industries actually grew under Reagan. Reagan also had the vision of shrinking the size of the federal government. He spent less on social programs, but kept previous programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. She was more liberal than Reagan expected her to be, and he continued to appoint more conservatives to the Supreme Court.

The aforementioned is arguably the most powerful line in the Soldier s Creed and exists in different variants across the branches of the military. The life of a soldier is not an easy one, so it is to be expected that there will be times that a soldier will have to make difficult decisions. Sometimes these decisions will dictate between life and death. However, the Soldier s Creed and other oaths alike, are promises not only to one s country and those serving beside you, but also an agreement with oneself to carry the weight of what it takes to fulfill his/her country. In the movie, Lone Survivor, four Navy Seals made the decision to spare the lives of three men which ultimately resulted in the death of three of the four Seals and 16 rescuers. I believe that the decision they made contradicted the idea of mission first and a more aggressive decision should have been elected. The elite squad of Seals neglected to place the mission first when the two goat herders and a boy were released. The release of these three men was outrageously dangerous and a complete sabotage to the mission at hand. Analysis Of William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily A Rose for Emily William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily tells a story about the life of a woman who grows up in a small southern town shortly after the turn of the 20th century. He tells the reader about the struggles that Ms. Emily and town of Jefferson face in trying to move on from their past and adjusting to the inevitable changes that time brings. Hans H Skei writes in his critical essay that A Rose for Emilyis the first story about Faulkner s townspeople in any real sense, and it is the first story in which a community point of view through a first person plural narrator (Skei). In reading Faulkner s story, the reader can see that when the narrator uses we , that he is referring to the people of the town. By doing this, the reader gets a sense that even though the title of the story has the main character s name in it, Faulkner considers the townspeople to be just as important as Emily in A Rose for Emily. In the story Faulkner writes how both of these characters struggle with the changes that occur throughout the passing years. Managing change is difficult, but inevitable. Changes also affect people differently. While some people thrive, others have a harder time in adjusting. While describing Ms. Emily s house, the narrator tells the reader that cotton mills and warehouses are encroaching on her house. Ms. Emily s house is described in the story as a style from some years past. In fact, her house was built in the 1870 s. Scalability which is the most important feature of distributed data stores, is provided through the distribution of keys over nodes. None of the key value stores offer secondary indices or keys. Some commercial key value stores available in the market are Voldemort, Riak, Redis, Scalaris and Tokyo Cabinet. Most of the products have backward compatibility, which is a good thing. High speed railway (HSR) has been making a great success all over the globe, particularly in china, where the railway track will reach a total length of 30,000 Km by 2020 [1]. HSR now is one of the most popular transportation means, which flourishes due to its unique features such as, safety, higher commuter seat capacity, decreased fare rate, comfy journey experience, lower disruption probability due to bad weather, as well as less fuel consumption resulting in a greener environment as compared to the air transportation [2]. Providing an internet access to passengers with high quality of service (QoS) is a key role in attracting more travellers [3]. Wireless communication systems to provide internet access for HSR are facing a lot of challenges such as, time varying and frequency selective fading due to multipath propagation and Doppler shift effect [4], a high penetration loss of 10 40 dB depending on the type of train and the angle of incidence resulting in spotty coverage and dropped calls [5], frequent handover due to the train high motion velocity will result in an increase in the drop off rates, degrading the overall system throughput also group handover caused by the simultaneous handover where hundreds of devices in the same train will request to handoff at the same time, causing a huge burden at the base station (BS) in terms of processing and resources. Moreover, an HSR propagation channel includes multiple terrains and scenarios such as urban, suburban, rural, plains, viaduct, tunnels, cuttings and stations [6], this variety found to cause a deep fade so we need to be familiar with those propagation conditions and channel fading of HSR to achieve high data

In 1949, India was one of the first country to gain its independence, followed by Burma, Malaysia, and Ceylon. In Africa the decolonization started a few years later, first in Libya and Egypt, and in the rest of the continent afterwards. The main colonists were the Great Britain and France. The history has shown that Great Britain succeeded to decolonize generally in peace while France had much more problems to give up its colonies, which led to numerous conflicts opposing the colonists and the colonized. It has been the case especially in Algeria where a murderous war lasted almost eight years. The philosopher Frantz Fanon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1945 Fanon moved to France and settled in Lyon. Fanon studied medicine as well as philosophy, literature and psychology. He became a doctor in a psychiatric hospital in France and then in Algeria, where he moved in 1953. With the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution in 1954 he started studying the Algerian situation and joined the National Liberation Front, in favour for the Algerian Independence. In 1957, he was expelled by the colonial authorities and joined the provisional government of the Algerian Republic in Tunis. Fanon wrote about colonialism and he praised the use of violence against colonists in his book The Wretched of the Earth, which was published the same year he died of leukaemia, in 1961, and two years before the independence of Algeria (Alice Cherki, 2000). So Fanon s life has been quite short but rather rich in events. Although he was mixed race, Fanon has experienced racism when he arrived in France. Thus it is not surprising that he identified to the Algerian people who were colonized by the French, and more generally to all colonized and oppressed populations. But the paradox, as Henri Louis Gates underlines it, is that Algerian people themselves considered him as a European Interloper and did not recognised his
  • 27. How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant... How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United States. Introduction Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long, 2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth, reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). The impacts of white tailed deer on forests along the Eastern United

Aquatic Refraction Lab In scimatics we have been learning how light bends. In class we used a light simulator called phet.It is very important to learn about light because we need light to see and it s good to know how it works. My hypothesis is when you shine light through objects the refraction will be low if the medium had a high density. When light shines through objects with different densities, the light will react differently. For example, if you shine light from air to water, the angle of incidence is 30 degrees. Also When the beam of the light hits the surface of the water some of the light reflects and the angle of it is 30 degrees too,but the angle of refraction is only 22 degrees.when you shine light from water to air it reacts differently.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you shine light from water to air the intensity of the refraction is 95.33 and intensity of the reflection is 4.67%. Finally, the intensity of the refraction when you shine light through glass is 94.34,and the intensity of the reflection is 5.68%. The reason that this is happening is because if the medium is more dense the intensity of the refraction will be lower. This is why the refraction is lower when you shine light through glass more than water because glass is more dense than water. In addition, if the medium is more dense the intensity of the reflection will be higher and that is why the intensity of the reflection when light was shine through glass is higher than water. The wavelength gets shorter when you shine it through glass more than water because the more dense the medium is the wavelength becomes shorter. Also, when you shine a beam of light through a prism it would reflect of one of the sides which creates an angle and it also separate the light and forms into a

As the data was close enough for the line of best fit to go through the origin, then it can be assumed that the impact of systematic errors was quite low. Discussion Errors and Improvements There were likely slight inconsistencies in the data which indicates that there was some impact due to random and systematic errors. A source of random error that likely occurred several times during this experiment, there were several opportunities for an error of parallax to occur. The first would have been when a pencil was used to mark the location of the fringes on the screen, where the person using the pencil was to the left of the screen, allowing for incorrectly marking the centre of the fringes. The second time when an error of parallax could have occurred was during the measurement of the total distance between of the four gaps, using a millimetre ruler. As the precision required for measurements at this scale is quite small, for the person performing the measurements, an error of parallax was likely to have occurred. The possible impact of these errors was decreased by the repeated measurements and mean averaging calculations, and as the data correlates strongly with the line of best fit, as indicated by the R2 value, the impact due to random errors of parallax is likely small. A source of systematic error is that the

Gaining Access Anywhere and Anytime with Wireless Mobile... 1.INTRODUCTION 1.1 Objective of the project: With the vast development and deployment of wireless mobile networks such as 3G UMTS, WiMAX and Wi Fi , mobile networking applications enabling customers to gain network access anywhere and anytime have attracted more and more attention in our daily lives. When the basic functionalities of a wireless network have been in place, customers are now more interested in value added mobile applications over this network. Most mobile applications come with the emergence of electronic trading (mobile commerce or m commerce), hence good secure mobile trading model must be designed to attract more mobile users for doing business wirelessly. Thus, how to integrate the mobile applications with a secure trading model becomes an important design issue, which will significantly affect the success of any value added mobile application. This is the major topic of this project. 1.2 Existing system: Mobile applications can be categorized into session based applications and event based applications. In event based applications, user s payment is reflected by one time events. Examples include sending a message, querying traffic information, or purchasing a song. A session based application consists of three phases: the session setup phase, the communication phase and the session release phase. A customer is charged for a session based application based on either time spent or data volume

The Importance Of Conservation During The Progressive Era Conservation was the most important reform, from this time period, since it worked towards protecting the United State s physical environment which leads to obtaining the essential resources of nature, preserving the naturality of the planet, and living a higher quality of life. During the Progressive Era the Second Industrial Revolution was in action, sprouting new technological advancements and ground breaking creations or processes. During this era, new inventions were being made and big monopolies were increasing their use of natural resources to a point where it was becoming harmful. One of the areas of resources that was becoming alarmingly low was forests and lumber, leading to the Forest Reserve Act of 1891. This act, which occurred during the conservation reform, allowed the president to choose forests of interests and claim them as reserves, protecting them from being harmed or negatively affected by big businesses. With the Forest Act many other acts protecting the Earth s resources sprung up as well. All of the acts that were passed restricted important resources from being wasted and blatantly used for company production areas. These acts, enlisted in terms of the government, would allow the president to choose areas in which resources could always exist and couldn t be overused. The areas chosen would include places with plentiful natural assets and a large range of land. This early protection against the act of overharvesting, lead to people being able to
