1. Careers Advisory
Service
Supporting schools, raising aspirations and engaging industry
Capita Education Resourcing’s Careers Advisory Service offers
a fresh approach to employability, careers education, information,
advice and guidance. The service offers links between industry,
employability and education creating opportunities backed by
progression routes into career sectors. We work with partners to
assist in improving aspirations and achievement of all students,
ensuring that positive outcomes are achieved.
Careers guidance and inspiration for young people in
schools
We support schools in ensuring pupils have full information on the
whole range of training and education options and career pathways to
help them make informed decisions as detailed in the ‘Careers guidance
and inspiration in schools’ Department for Education guidance
published April 2014.
Career Advisors / Employability Coaches
We have a network of dynamic and effective career coaches able to
relate to young people and assist in helping them navigate their
employment opportunities and career exploration. Young
people are given support to look at their skill sets,
strengths, weaknesses, achievements, progression rates
and how they can improve on their success.
Work Experience Placements
We secure placements for students via our network of
employers ensuring a high quality and challenging
experience for all students. We offer placements for a
short term interval 1-2 weeks or longer term
placements over a term or academic year. We
encourage schools and employers to allow students
to apply for a vacancy through an application letter,
CV and selection process to ensure students
understand the process involved with applying for
positions in the future.
A full Job Description with duties and responsibilities will
be set out for each student. We offer a tracker system to
ensure schools can keep up to date with the placements that
their students have chosen.
2. Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
Capita offers a suite of workshops which cover ‘business concepts and start-ups’. We bring entrepreneurs
into schools and offer visits to SMEs for students to understand the challenges and reality of new
start-ups, from preparation of a business plan, to financial forecasting, to pitching and presenting.
Employability Skills Workshops
Capita run apprenticeship and assessment days to help young people
prepare for applying for apprenticeships, College and University. The
courses are designed to walk students through the step by step process
of finding, applying, interviewing and assessment for opportunities post
compulsory education. It is an opportunity to bring in employers who
are looking for young people to go through their apprenticeship
selection process in order to offer students the possibility of
gaining an accelerated place.
Targeted Group Work for Students at Risk of
Becoming NEET
Specifically tailored group work designed for students that are
potentially NEET to support them in making decisions and the
opportunity of bringing in a guest speaker who can relate to the
students back ground and has an understanding of their needs and
supporting them in reaching their specific goals. These workshops work
best over a period of time to gain maximum affect and the ability to
build strong relationships.
Careers Convention
Capita Education can provide and facilitate a careers convention to meet
the needs of the school. With our strong links with employers,
educational establishments and training providers we can tailor our
services to meet the needs of the students and parents alike. It can be a
great opportunity to increase awareness for students and parents about
their options in the world of work and educational establishments.
Employer Projects and Programmes
Connecting schools with employers to develop pupils’ understanding of the world of work, through
placements in industry, workplace visits and creating the skill sets required to bridge the transition from
education to career focused employability.
Developing engaging, kinaesthetic project and employer led workshops focused on
curriculum units. This is an engaging way to develop group work and course work based
curriculum. We provide relevant company challenges to use within studies – these can
be developed on a bespoke basis with schools.
