What is a work-based learning program?
A Work Based Learning Program is defined
by the content available for the learner. To be
college and career ready, an individual must
possess life skills as well as technical skills
that coincide with the academic performance
obtained throughout high school. Students
must acquire a passion, work hard, focus, and
persist reaching true potential for career
readiness.
How can you become involved?
Contact the local Work-based learning
Coordinators to become a participating
business or to participate on the program
advisory board.

program advisory board.
What is an advisory board?
A school/business advisory board
is a group of people dedicated to
providing advice and resources
related to curriculum and career
development of all students.
The Board is composed of repre-
sentatives from the business, gov-
ernment, parental and the educa-
tional community. The advisory
board should meet at least four to
six times a year for the following
purposes:
Provide verbal and written
support for educational
projects.
Provide advice concerning
labor market trends,
equipment, materials and
training methods.
Assist in creating new
instructional materials.
Assist professional staff in
updating
knowledge and methods.
Participate in activities that
directly impact students,
i.e.: Work-based learning,
School/Industry
Partnerships, mentors,
guest speakers, field trips,
etc.
