We provide vocational education in a number of different areas including Business, Community Services (Aged

Development courses for those working within the Community Services industries including IndividualSupport

We have training facilities in Penrith and Sydney CBD. We also deliver training in other locations across
Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle. Our modern facilities are only a short walk from public
transport and have the technology required to meet your training needs.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
and Credit Transfer (CT)
RPL is a type of assessment that recognises a person’s skills and knowledge as a
result of previous work and/or life experience whilst CT is where you have
completed the exact same unit or its equivalent previously through a Registered
Training Organisation. All students are given the opportunity to apply for RPL
and CT. Whilst you can apply for RPL or CT at any time it is recommended that
you do this at enrolment or at program induction.

Applying and Enrolling
For all programs offered by Benchmark College, you are required to complete an application form and an
enrolment form. These forms are required to check eligibility, ascertain if students have a special need and
identify if an interview is required prior to enrolment.
Application forms can be sourced by contacting the College
or sending an enquiry from our website.
Once your application has been approved you will be
offered a position in your selected program. You will need
to accept this position by applying for a Unique Student
Identifier (USI), completing a language, literacy and numeracy
quiz and providing certification of identification. At course
induction, you will then be required to complete an
enrolment form.
Fees and Charges
Costs
Course fees are dependent on the type of program you are doing and the funding source, i.e.
Government funded programs - including traineeships and classroom training; fee for service;
recognition and self-directed training.
Benchmark College aims to be cost competitive with other Registered Training Organisations - fees for
Government funded programs are set by the relevant State and Federal Governments. Concessions, fee
exemptions andfee-free scholarships are available for NSW Government funded programs based on student
eligibility. Please note that some of the training courses listed are subsidised by the NSW Government. We
can advise you about eligibility on course application.

Delivery Methods
Traineeships
A traineeship is a training contract between an employer and
an employee. It is a way that training and employment can be
combined to deliver a Nationally Recognised qualification.
Australian Apprenticeships (often referred to as apprenticeships or traineeships) offer opportunities for anyone
working age to train, study and earn an income in a wide range of occupations and trades.
All training and assessment is conducted in the work place.
Benchmark College currently deliver traineeships in a variety
of different industries including Business, Early Childhood
(Child Care), Individual Support (Aged Care), Retail and
Warehousing.
Traineeships generally take between one to two years to complete, depending upon the qualification. Early
completions and extensions may be granted on request to Training Services NSW.

setting*
This course satisfies the requirements for First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Asthma and
Anaphylaxis for those working in an education and care service (child care centre). The course covers the skills
and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
HLTAID003 Provide first aid*
This course covers a wide range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations
and apply life-saving skills. The course covers the most common first aid injuries and illnesses that you might
be called upon to deal with. This course is appropriate for people who want these skills for workplace or the
home.
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation*
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line
with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. It is suitable as a CPR refresher course, provided
you hold a current first aid qualification.
CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk#
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to support and protect children and young people who
are at risk of harm. The following roles are required to hold the current unit:
Nominated Supervisors and Certified Supervisors who are placed in day to day charge of an education and
care service in NSW (Education and Care Services National Regulations 2016)
Supervisor’s minimum requirements (Children [Education and Care Services] Supplementary Provisions
2004).
