J.D. Salinger drops the reader into the middle of his stories. Without any sense of characters,
setting, or plot, the reader is thrown into the lives of others as they scramble to unearth the truth
behind the scenes. Salinger provides complex stories of relatable characters; some are stories of
happiness and others are of loss and dysfunction. Often times, the characters have difficulties
dealing with the harsh realities of their lives and have to look towards alternate means of coping.
Society fosters an overly structured environment with little room for atypical relationships, ideals,
and behaviors. Anything that is outside of the normal is immediately written off and labeled as
deviant behavior, something that is often frowned upon in this day and age. The characters in Nine
Stories by J.D. Salinger use various coping mechanisms to escape the reality that societal norms
and traditionalism present. Seymour Glass of A Perfect Day for Bananafish is a twisted character

This sculpture was given the title, Dionysus, and is dated at 50 150 A.D. During that period, the
Roman Empire went through a civil war, multiple rebellions, a couple disastrous fires, the building
of the Colosseum, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the peak of Roman military expansion and

Public relations is one of the most important tools marketers have to help them foster goodwill
about a company or product. Not only can public relations be used to promote goodwill, it can also
serve as the main defensive tool against a scandal or company issue. With consumers more
connected to news through social media channels than ever before, public relationshas taken on a
new importance for companies who want to isolate themselves from as much bad press as possible.

As a child the most important place to me was the block in my neighborhood I grew up on. It
was a particularly long and very wide street with several pairs of incredibly tall palm trees spread

It also made things great that our families were all close friends so our playtime was extended to

The term Poetry is a word derived from the Greek meaning to make or create. Much like the word
sugguests, Poetry is the art of creating literature, which deals with human experiences. To
understand bette what Poetry is, one can use the Pensieve in Harry Potter.
The Pensieve has the appearance of a hollow stone, with runes and symbols carved around it s
opening. Inside the Pensieve is a silver cloud like liqiud/gas which is the physical appearance of
the memories owned by the person who owns the Pensieve. When touching the surface of the
silver memories, the person who touches it gets transported into the memory they touch, therefore
giving that person the ability to view it from a third person point of view. Although the person can
view the memory as if they are there, they can neither change the order of events, nor participate or
influence the memory they are viewing. However, the person is capable of feeling the emotions,
desires or views of the person who owns the memory.
In this analogy, the person supplying the memory would be the Poet, and the person viewing it
would be the reader. In Poems, the Poet uses the four senses to transport the reader into a picture
