This document discusses testing done on cable ladder sections to examine the effect of adding an earthing conductor between sections. Theoretical analysis estimated adding a bonding wire would reduce resistance across splice joints by 11-17%, with greater improvement using larger wire. Actual testing was then done on cable ladder sections under various bolt tightness scenarios, both with and without bonding wires. Test results showed bonding wires reduced resistance across joints by 1-11%, with greater improvement when bolts were less tight or on only one side of the splice plate. The document examines whether bonding wires provide meaningful improvement to earthing continuity for cable ladders.
