The National Water Quality Instrumentation Service (NWQIS) provides water quality monitoring equipment like handheld meters and sensor sondes to area teams, government partners, and external organizations to assist with investigations under the Water Framework Directive, general water quality monitoring, incident response, and research. The NWQIS uses equipment like the Pro Plus handheld meter and Environmental Sensor Network to measure various water quality parameters and can interface with devices like autosamplers and kiosks to display real-time data online. Working with partners like colleges and volunteers allows the NWQIS to cover larger areas and gain additional insights from monitoring programs.
