2. Deployment of Assessment
Manager/Tracker across the
whole college
• Our journey in redeveloping Assessment
Manager as an E-portfolio and
assessment tracking system in Moodle
• Launching it across the college to be
inspection ready.
• The benefits for our students and staff
2
3. The Vision
• Learner/staff centred portal that
provides all data necessary to aid the
learning experience
• Improve the efficiency and effectiveness
of the information flow between
systems
• Ensure the learners and staff develop
the systems that work for them
3
4. The change
• A robust VLE was built with a vision on
how to integrate the e-systems
• Staff and students were consulted
• Moodle was unitized with one course
per qualification unit
• A staged roll-out plan was developed
• Staff could choose their assessment
criteria to suit assessment processes

7. Why it works
• Students and staff designed the system
• In house development means there is
instant response; student and staff
satisfaction is guaranteed and e-systems
are tailored to their needs
• Instant access to data is very motivational
for students and staff
• Senior Management supported the entire
process
• ICT, MIS, E-learning and curriculum work as
a team towards the same goal
7
8. Benefits to the Learner
• A modern digital system that provides 24/7 access to
all learning content, course progress and learner data
• They designed a system that suits all their learning
needs and they have taken ownership of it and can
personalise it
• Access to all their college data in detail, including:
E-portfolios, course learning content, progress in their
functional skills, online submission and feedback of
assignments, and plagiarism tools
8
9. Benefits to the Staff
• 24/7 access for flexible working, on reliable
infrastructure, to one portal that links all the systems
• More time to concentrate on classroom delivery and 1
to 1 support
• Transparent and instant data for all staff
• Instant access to: assessment tracking and online
marking of assignments, a plagiarism tool and class
over views of where all students are at in their
qualifications.
9
10. Benefits to the College
• Instant overview of the bigger picture, and
progress of students with their delivery and
course study
• A better quality and standardisation of
delivery online and in the classroom
• Enable timely intervention for at risk
learners and courses.
• Huge financial savings on systems and
support to reinvest in the learner
experience
10
11. Assessment Manager Compared
• The only system that you can mark the
assignments and check off the tracking
in the same place (Moodle based)
• The only system that is free
• The only system where activities in the
VLE are directly linked to the portfolio
• The only system that can be tailored to
suit your needs (open source)
11
12. What’s left to do
• Add csv exports for portfolio tracking
pages
• Create reporting features to provide
over views of learners progress against
their entry quals and initial grade
• Reintroduce the EV features that have
been turned off in the programming
