Once we register a project, we will have access to our
own TwinSpace, a secured online platform with ICT
tools, where we can invite your pupils and other
teachers to work together.
Project virtual classroom
• Restricted access only for invited pupils and teachers
(login/password),
• Possibility to manage privacy settings (public/private pages),
• ICT tools (webpages, blog, forum, chat, videoconference),
Possibility to embed external apps (e.c. Padlet, Learning Apps etc.
(only iFrame code is compatible with the TwinSpace for
embedding)
• Multimedia archive (files, image gallery, video)
Make clear arrangements with all members of the
Twinspace:
• Discuss the structure and the order of the pages with all
the teachers of the project. If not the Twinspace might end
up in a mess.
• Students can also be given ownership by giving them
editing rights to particular pages so that they can add
content.

HOW TO EMBED A TOOL IN THE TWINSPACE?
I. Create or open an existing PAGE on the Twinspace. Click on the
SOURCE button.
II. PASTE the embed code. When you click again on the SOURCE
button, the content will show.
In an eTwinning project many teachers and pupils make use of
other tools to create content, than the ones provided in the
Twinspace: e.g. a poll, a slideshow, a quiz, a brainstorming tool
etc.
In his section we gather
pictures, filmes and other files
Drag or select images from your computer
to add them to your TwinSpace
The maximum size of a picture is 4 Mb. Only
these formats
are allowed: gif, jpg, jpeg, png.
If you want to integrate pictures in a PAGE, FORUM or PROJECT JOURNAL post,
you first of all need to upload your pictures in this section.
You can create stand-alone albums with
e.g. pictures of activities or you can
integrate pictures in PAGES, FORUM
posts or PROJECT JOURNAL posts.
Click “Add video”to add include
a video from YouTube or Vimeo
Create folders to
organize your videos
You cannot upload videos directly to the
Twinspace. You need to upload a video
first to Youtube, Vimeo or DailyMotion.
To transfer the video to the Twinspace,
you first COPY the URL of the previously
uploaded video at YouTube, Vimeo or
Dailymotion and then PASTE it in the
MATERIALS section of the Twinspace.
For safety reasons you
should categorize videos
at Youtube under
UNLISTED. In this way
the video will be hidden
for the Youtube search
engine. However the
video will be visible to
anyone who knows the
URL.
The Twinspace offers the opportunity to share various types of files. You can
create stand-alone folders or you can integrate a direct link to the FILES on a PAGE,
FORUM or PROJECT JOURNAL post.
Allowed files are text files (.pdf, .txt, .doc, .docx), presentations (.ppt, .pptx),
spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx) and compressed files (.zip, .rar). The maximum file’s size
is 20 Mb.
A forum is a tool to involve participants in an ongoing a-
synchronous discussion. Only members with administrators rights
can set up forums.
Setting up a forum goes in 2 steps. The first step is to define the
general topic or discussion theme and to give a description.
The second step is to create one or more discussion threads.
Threads are the actual discussion (sub)topics participants can
express their view on.
Create an event for your TwinSpace
Events can include:
• Video/Audio chats
• Screen sharing
• Collaborative work

The Twinspace
offers several tools for
synchronous communication:
• there is a chatroom where all
online members can join a live
discussion.
• members can also send 1:1
direct messages to other
participants who are online.
TIP: Teachers can download and export the chat history. It will
prevent possible bad behavior of students. Records are deleted
after 3 months.
The feature is also handy for pedagogical reasons: teachers can
assess the contribution of all members to a conversation.

Access the “Members” area. If
you have a teacher-
administrator role, you can add
teachers from this area.
If you have a teacher-
administrator role, you can
add students from this area.
If necessary also Visitors can be added to the Twinspace. Visitors are adults who
will not register at etwinning.net (e.g. parents). The procedure is similar to the
invitation of pupils.
Teachers add the pupils to the
Twinspace.
They add the names of the
students and provide them
with a password.
Students cannot change the
credentials. Teachers can
RESET the PASSWORD of
pupils.
Teachers can give Pupils the role of PUPIL ADMINISTRATOR. PUPIL ADMINISTRATORS can
create PAGES and FORUMS. Pupil Administrators can assist teachers. Pupils Administrators
have high level ownership and responsibility.
Teachers should provide guidelines for the students of how they must write the
profile description: what is the language, what type of information must (not) be
shared etc.

C1 How to work on Twinspace

  • 2. Once we register a project, we will have access to our own TwinSpace, a secured online platform with ICT tools, where we can invite your pupils and other teachers to work together. Project virtual classroom • Restricted access only for invited pupils and teachers (login/password), • Possibility to manage privacy settings (public/private pages), • ICT tools (webpages, blog, forum, chat, videoconference), Possibility to embed external apps (e.c. Padlet, Learning Apps etc. (only iFrame code is compatible with the TwinSpace for embedding) • Multimedia archive (files, image gallery, video)
  • 3. Make clear arrangements with all members of the Twinspace: • Discuss the structure and the order of the pages with all the teachers of the project. If not the Twinspace might end up in a mess. • Students can also be given ownership by giving them editing rights to particular pages so that they can add content.

  • 5. When you are on eTwinning Live, click to Projects or My Twinspaces
  • 7. Click on a link to the TwinSpace of the project
  • 9. Change Twinspace settings, change your profile, check your Twinmail View or create pages, pictures, films
  • 10. The Teacher Bulletin is a communication tool only visible to teachers. Blog/project journal Use the project journal to share project news on the public Twinspace site - it is always visible for all in the Internet

  • 13. Change title and description Change your TwinSpace logo Change the look of your TwinSpace The General Settings of the Twinspace as well as allow you to display a title, subtitle and logo for the to choose a colour scheme. Title, description and logo are always public to anyone on Internet.

  • 15. Click the title to edit Notice: if you make the page public make sure you have the copyright of all pictures, videos and files. If pictures or video include minors make sure that you have their parents permission to publish online. Control/decide who sees this page Control who can edit this page Do not forget to save changes every time you edit a page! Add link Format page content Embedding PASTE the embed code. When you click again on the SOURCE button, the content will show. Insert an image , video or file, these are taken from the resources uploaded in the materials section
  • 16. HOW TO EMBED A TOOL IN THE TWINSPACE? I. Create or open an existing PAGE on the Twinspace. Click on the SOURCE button. II. PASTE the embed code. When you click again on the SOURCE button, the content will show. In an eTwinning project many teachers and pupils make use of other tools to create content, than the ones provided in the Twinspace: e.g. a poll, a slideshow, a quiz, a brainstorming tool etc.
  • 17. In his section we gather pictures, filmes and other files Drag or select images from your computer to add them to your TwinSpace The maximum size of a picture is 4 Mb. Only these formats are allowed: gif, jpg, jpeg, png. If you want to integrate pictures in a PAGE, FORUM or PROJECT JOURNAL post, you first of all need to upload your pictures in this section.
  • 18. You can create stand-alone albums with e.g. pictures of activities or you can integrate pictures in PAGES, FORUM posts or PROJECT JOURNAL posts.
  • 19. Click “Add video”to add include a video from YouTube or Vimeo Create folders to organize your videos
  • 20. You cannot upload videos directly to the Twinspace. You need to upload a video first to Youtube, Vimeo or DailyMotion. To transfer the video to the Twinspace, you first COPY the URL of the previously uploaded video at YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion and then PASTE it in the MATERIALS section of the Twinspace. For safety reasons you should categorize videos at Youtube under UNLISTED. In this way the video will be hidden for the Youtube search engine. However the video will be visible to anyone who knows the URL.
  • 21. The Twinspace offers the opportunity to share various types of files. You can create stand-alone folders or you can integrate a direct link to the FILES on a PAGE, FORUM or PROJECT JOURNAL post. Allowed files are text files (.pdf, .txt, .doc, .docx), presentations (.ppt, .pptx), spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx) and compressed files (.zip, .rar). The maximum file’s size is 20 Mb.
  • 22. A forum is a tool to involve participants in an ongoing a- synchronous discussion. Only members with administrators rights can set up forums. Setting up a forum goes in 2 steps. The first step is to define the general topic or discussion theme and to give a description. The second step is to create one or more discussion threads. Threads are the actual discussion (sub)topics participants can express their view on.

Create an event for your TwinSpace Events can include: • Video/Audio chats • Screen sharing • Collaborative work See “Live” help files for more information on using the eTwinning Live event platform. The Twinspace offers several tools for synchronous communication: • there is a chatroom where all online members can join a live discussion. • members can also send 1:1 direct messages to other participants who are online.
  • 24. TIP: Teachers can download and export the chat history. It will prevent possible bad behavior of students. Records are deleted after 3 months. The feature is also handy for pedagogical reasons: teachers can assess the contribution of all members to a conversation. See a list of who’s in the chat room
  • 25. Access the “Members” area. If you have a teacher- administrator role, you can add teachers from this area. If you have a teacher- administrator role, you can add students from this area. If necessary also Visitors can be added to the Twinspace. Visitors are adults who will not register at etwinning.net (e.g. parents). The procedure is similar to the invitation of pupils.
  • 26. Teachers add the pupils to the Twinspace. They add the names of the students and provide them with a password. Students cannot change the credentials. Teachers can RESET the PASSWORD of pupils. Teachers can give Pupils the role of PUPIL ADMINISTRATOR. PUPIL ADMINISTRATORS can create PAGES and FORUMS. Pupil Administrators can assist teachers. Pupils Administrators have high level ownership and responsibility.
  • 27. Teachers should provide guidelines for the students of how they must write the profile description: what is the language, what type of information must (not) be shared etc.
