19. • TwinSpace is a free, shared and secure online platform for
you and your partner school(s) to communicate and carry out
project activities.
• 1 project = 1 TwinSpace (2 founders of the project can
add/invite partners/teachers, pupils, visitors to the
TwinSpace.)
• Access the TwinSpace via ‘Projects’.
• TwinSpace Tools: Project journal, Teacher bulletin, Pages,
Materials (images, videos and files), Forums, Live: chat and
live event, Members.

22. In the ‘Home’ page you can find:
 Teacher bulletin (for teachers only);
 Project journal (public).

24. Pages
It is the main part of the TwinSpace where the participants can see the
outline of the whole project, e.g. activities schedule, holiday calendar, class
presentations, logo, activities, feedback, evaluation, and dissemination.
 A page can be created by clicking on ‘create a page’ and choosing the title.
 Pages can contain text, materials (from images, videos, files) and
embedded content. The size and position of the images can be changed by
right-clicking on the picture.
 The order of the page can be changed by clicking ‘change order’.
 A page can be edited by clicking ‘edit the page’. When creating/editing the
page, always click ‘save’.
 Pages cannot be deleted, but can be archived to make them invisible and
visible again, if needed, by clicking ‘archived pages’.

25.  To upload images, videos, files, go to ‘Materials’. Create ‘image
albums’. The max size of the picture is 4Mb and the allowed formats
are: gif, jpg, jpeg, and png.
 To reduce the size of the PowerPoint presentation, uploaded it on
the www.slideshare.net and then post on the ‘Materials’.
 To integrate pictures/videos in a PAGE, FORUM or PROJECT
JOURNAL post, first they need to be uploaded in the ‘Materials’
section.

26. Materials (adding images, videos, files)

27.  Videos cannot be directly uploaded onto the TwinSpace. They
need to be uploaded first on YouTube, Vimeo or DailyMotion.
 For safety reasons, categorise videos on YouTube as ‘unlisted’
to hide them in the YouTube search engine and make visible
only to the ones who know URL.
 To transfer a video to the TwinSpace, first copy the URL of the
video and paste in the ‘Materials’ section.
 On Vimeo protect videos with a password and share the URL
on PAGES, FORUM or JOURNAL. (You can not embedded it in a
‘Page’ or upload in the ‘Materials’ then.)

28.  To upload files, in ‘Materials’ section go to ‘Files’.
 Create a ‘file folder’ or integrate a direct link to the FILES on a
PAGE, FORUM, or PROJECT JOURNAL.
 Allowed files are text files (.pdf, txt, doc., docx), presentations
(.ppt, .pptx), spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx) and compressed files
(.zip, .rar). The max file’s size is 20 Mb.

32. Task 1:
2.1 - Download a file (.ppt,.pdf,.docx), a picture and a video in
the TwinSpace using the ‘Materials’ section.
2.2 - Create a page/subpage in ‘Pages’. Insert any text, add a
video, and a picture.

To create a thread, click ‘Add forum’. The forum can be archived by
clicking ‘Archived forums’. Edit a forum by clicking ‘Edit’.

Create a thread and/or post a message in the Forum.

35. Live
The ‘Live’ section provides the opportunities for the participants to join the
chatroom or schedule a video session. To create an event click ‘create live
event’. Write the title, description, duration, date, and choose a time slot.

37. Roles within the TwinSpace
- Teacher Administrator: full project partners, usually 2
founders of the project who can edit, delete posts,
invite/delete members.
– Teacher Member: support teachers. They do not
have the rights to edit, delete posts, invite/delete
members
– Pupil Administrator: project coordinators
– Pupil Member: participants
– Visitors: Guests

38. Inviting members

39.  Teachers administrators have the power to invite new
members: teachers, pupils and visitors.
 Teachers have to be registered on etwinning.net before they
can be invited to participate. Teachers from other schools can
be invited and provided with a password.
 Teachers who add content on the TwinSpace (Pages, Forums,
Project journal) need to have Teacher Administrator status.

40.  Teachers can add pupils: names and passwords cannot be
changed by pupils. Teachers can export the data of pupils’
logins/passwords to Excel: EXPORT INVITED PUPILS. Pupils can
be given an administrator rights and can then create pages
and forums. It can be temporarily. Pupils do not have to be
registered on etwinning.net.
 Visitors (adults who are not registered on etwinning.net and
are not members of the TwinSpace, e.g. parents, head
teacher, teachers who are not members) can be also added.
They can only have a look at the TwinSpace.

41. Task 3:
Invite a pupil/visitor, e.g. parent, head teacher, etc., to view the
TwinSpace of the project.

43.  On the eTwinning ‘Portal’ section go to ‘Professional Development’-
‘eTwinning Self Teaching Material’. Explore the ‘Management of the
Twinspace’ and other sections. Also look for ‘Learning
Opportunities’ on the ‘Professional Development’ section.
 Join ‘Groups’ on eTwinning Live. Suggested eTwinnig featured
groups: ‘Bringing esafety into eTwinning projects’, ‘Virgilio- an
introduction to eTwinning’.
 Contact NSS (National Support Service- The British Council) or
British Council Schools ambassador.
