19. ā¢ TwinSpace is a free, shared and secure online platform for
you and your partner school(s) to communicate and carry out
project activities.
ā¢ 1 project = 1 TwinSpace (2 founders of the project can
add/invite partners/teachers, pupils, visitors to the
TwinSpace.)
ā¢ Access the TwinSpace via āProjectsā.
ā¢ TwinSpace Tools: Project journal, Teacher bulletin, Pages,
Materials (images, videos and files), Forums, Live: chat and
live event, Members.
Introduction to the TwinSpace
24. Pages
It is the main part of the TwinSpace where the participants can see the
outline of the whole project, e.g. activities schedule, holiday calendar, class
presentations, logo, activities, feedback, evaluation, and dissemination.
ļ¼ A page can be created by clicking on ācreate a pageā and choosing the title.
ļ¼ Pages can contain text, materials (from images, videos, files) and
embedded content. The size and position of the images can be changed by
right-clicking on the picture.
ļ¼ The order of the page can be changed by clicking āchange orderā.
ļ¼ A page can be edited by clicking āedit the pageā. When creating/editing the
page, always click āsaveā.
ļ¼ Pages cannot be deleted, but can be archived to make them invisible and
visible again, if needed, by clicking āarchived pagesā.
25. ļ¼ To upload images, videos, files, go to āMaterialsā. Create āimage
albumsā. The max size of the picture is 4Mb and the allowed formats
are: gif, jpg, jpeg, and png.
ļ¼ To reduce the size of the PowerPoint presentation, uploaded it on
the www.slideshare.net and then post on the āMaterialsā.
ļ¼ To integrate pictures/videos in a PAGE, FORUM or PROJECT
JOURNAL post, first they need to be uploaded in the āMaterialsā
section.
Materials
27. ļ¼ Videos cannot be directly uploaded onto the TwinSpace. They
need to be uploaded first on YouTube, Vimeo or DailyMotion.
ļ¼ For safety reasons, categorise videos on YouTube as āunlistedā
to hide them in the YouTube search engine and make visible
only to the ones who know URL.
ļ¼ To transfer a video to the TwinSpace, first copy the URL of the
video and paste in the āMaterialsā section.
ļ¼ On Vimeo protect videos with a password and share the URL
on PAGES, FORUM or JOURNAL. (You can not embedded it in a
āPageā or upload in the āMaterialsā then.)
Uploading videos
28. ļ¼ To upload files, in āMaterialsā section go to āFilesā.
ļ¼ Create a āfile folderā or integrate a direct link to the FILES on a
PAGE, FORUM, or PROJECT JOURNAL.
ļ¼ Allowed files are text files (.pdf, txt, doc., docx), presentations
(.ppt, .pptx), spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx) and compressed files
(.zip, .rar). The max fileās size is 20 Mb.

Using other tools to create the content
32. Task 1:
2.1 - Download a file (.ppt,.pdf,.docx), a picture and a video in
the TwinSpace using the āMaterialsā section.
2.2 - Create a page/subpage in āPagesā. Insert any text, add a
video, and a picture.
33. Forums
To create a thread, click āAdd forumā. The forum can be archived by
clicking āArchived forumsā. Edit a forum by clicking āEditā.
35. Live
The āLiveā section provides the opportunities for the participants to join the
chatroom or schedule a video session. To create an event click ācreate live
eventā. Write the title, description, duration, date, and choose a time slot.
37. Roles within the TwinSpace
- Teacher Administrator: full project partners, usually 2
founders of the project who can edit, delete posts,
invite/delete members.
ā Teacher Member: support teachers. They do not
have the rights to edit, delete posts, invite/delete
members
ā Pupil Administrator: project coordinators
ā Pupil Member: participants
ā Visitors: Guests
39. ļ¼ Teachers administrators have the power to invite new
members: teachers, pupils and visitors.
ļ¼ Teachers have to be registered on etwinning.net before they
can be invited to participate. Teachers from other schools can
be invited and provided with a password.
ļ¼ Teachers who add content on the TwinSpace (Pages, Forums,
Project journal) need to have Teacher Administrator status.
Adding participants to the TwinSpace
40. ļ¼ Teachers can add pupils: names and passwords cannot be
changed by pupils. Teachers can export the data of pupilsā
logins/passwords to Excel: EXPORT INVITED PUPILS. Pupils can
be given an administrator rights and can then create pages
and forums. It can be temporarily. Pupils do not have to be
registered on etwinning.net.
ļ¼ Visitors (adults who are not registered on etwinning.net and
are not members of the TwinSpace, e.g. parents, head
teacher, teachers who are not members) can be also added.
They can only have a look at the TwinSpace.
Adding participants to the TwinSpace
41. Task 3:
Invite a pupil/visitor, e.g. parent, head teacher, etc., to view the
TwinSpace of the project.

ļ¼ Join āGroupsā on eTwinning Live. Suggested eTwinnig featured
groups: āBringing esafety into eTwinning projectsā, āVirgilio- an
introduction to eTwinningā.
