3. The Human Reproductive Cloning Debate
One of the most controversial areas in genetic engineering is human or reproductive cloning. The topic
has raised moral and ethical concerns among critics. According to the Gallup poll conducted in 2014,
only 13% of Americans believed cloning human beings is morally acceptable (May, 2016). This shows
a disapproval of such technology by the public.
Human reproductive cloning is the creation of an individual who has identical nuclear genetic material
(DNA) to an existing human being, and who is allowed to develop to term and beyond (Bio Centre,
n.d.). This science uses somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Dolly, the sheep, was the first mammal
cloned using this technology, and its possible utility for human cloning has been argued ever ... Show

When couples carry genetic risk, they might consider reproductive SCNT to avoid passing a serious
genetic disease on to their offspring (Daar et al., 2016). If the technology is abused, people might try
to create perfect human beings, as Hittler attempted.
Reproductive SCNT involves the production of a child through an asexual procedure, a fundamental
departure from natural or assisted conception (ex: IVFs) in which a child s genome is unique from
either parent (Daar et al., 2016). Some orthodox Christians believe that this method destroys the link
between a human relationship and the being of a child (Bio Centre, n.d.).
Reproductive cloning may harm children psychologically. Parents might harbor unfair expectations on
the child, and this can hinder the child s personal growth and undermine the child s interests in
forming a unique identity (Daar et al., 2016).
There are safety concerns regarding human cloning. Between 95 98% of mammalian cloning
experiments have resulted in miscarriages, still births, and life threatening abnormalities (Bio Centre,
n.d.). Similar abnormalities may occur in human reproductive

The Dean of Faculty is looking for a more traditional schedule. I did not attend the academy; however,
the cadets have a very robust schedule, military and fitness. Of these areas military and fitness is
important. Let us minimize core classes, cadet are not allowed to use the restroom during class, When

The computer they pay for should be issued and not paid for. We should model after other universities.
There should be separate living conditions by classes so that they can interact with their class year and
their developmental level. They all live together so there is no sense of accountability. A merit based
promotion should be implemented for promotion and rank. The Personal Interpersonal Team
Organizational Model refers to the class year, however, not because you have made the next level it
does not equate to responsibility. If a cadet wants to be a squadron commander then the name should
be thrown in the hat and the selection should be based on accomplishment. The Superintendent s
vision is ridiculous and it has taken two years to fix the Terrazzo. It should not be acceptable in any
state or institution. The living quarters should be changed. Why can t the living facilities be changed?
An airman has more responsibility than a cadet, i.e. alcohol in the dorms. Cadets should be able to
have sex in the dorm. They need to be taught about gender relations. A lot of firsties have their own

Is it possible to create a computer which can interact with us as we interact each other? For example
imagine in a fine morning you walk on to your computer room and switch on your computer, and then
it tells you Hey friend, good morning you seem to be a bad mood today. And then it opens your mail

7. Modeling Travel Demand For A Bus Transport System
MODELING TRAVEL DEMAND IN BANGLORE CITY
INTRODUCTION:
Now a days due to increase in traffic, decrease in open areas and low allocation of funds,
transportation planners are looking for other effective ways to overcome these problems. Introduction
of low cost fuel efficient cars and easy availability of car loans with interest free monthly payments
have encouraged people to buy private vehicles which has increased congestion. The need for an
efficient, accessible and feasible public transport system is needed more than ever.
To overcome the above mentioned problems, most of the metropolitan cities in India are trying to
streamline their transportation system so as to introduce a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) as an
alternative to bus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The city of Bangalore is the third most populous and ranked fifth for its urban assemblage in India.
Located in the Deccan plateau in the southern part of India, it has an urban population of about 8.52
million. According to World Bank report (2002), motor vehicle ownership has been increasing 10%
annually in cities with a population of 1 million or more. This has led to air, noise and environmental
pollution; increased congestion; reduced use of public transport system and consequently increase in
use of private vehicles.
From 1991 to 2014, private vehicle ownership has increased in Bangalore city and the limping public
transport system has been struggling to keep pace with the growing travel demand. To overcome this,
the city has to develop a new mass rapid transit system and expand its existing bus services.
It has been also observed that policies pertaining to land use and urban planning has caused major
urban sprawl which in turn has led to inadequate public transport (Pucher et al, 2005).
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Due to increase in economic growth, better living conditions and ease of loans, it is easier for people
now a days to acquire new vehicles. Since Bangalore as an IT hub has great risk of congestion due to
rapid urbanization and under developed infrastructure. So, a travel

8. According To A Violence Policy Center Analysis Of News
According to a Violence Policy Center analysis of news reports, concealed carry permit holders have
killed at least 11 law enforcement officers and 319 private citizens since May 2007, 19 of these were
mass shootings, and 27 murder suicides. I personally believe that individuals in America without a
criminal record should not be able to carry a concealed weapon in public settings. Carrying a
concealed weapon in public settings is automatically imposing a threat on those around you. It
increases the chances of an altercation escalating and turning lethal and is portrayed as self defense .
Giving individuals the right to carry a concealed weapon in public settings makes the ones without a

There are many rules and regulations that are made out to follow for those carrying these weapons. If
a person were not emotionally or mentally stable, they would not be allowed to get a permit to carry
the weapon with them. You cannot predict the future; an individual can be perfectly stable when
purchasing a weapon, but further in time can possibly become unstable due to unforeseen
circumstances. Due to these unforeseen circumstances it can make an individual do things that are out
of character, which is keeping a gun in an concealed place while in public can be problematic. One
person s personal problem can lead to taking the life of another, as described in the media, during
mass shootings, or parking lot confrontations. The public safety in general should never be
compromised under any circumstances. Public safety is the main concern to everybody, I want to feel
safe when I am gone out to the mall, not always have the fear of something tragic happening due to
someone else s silly mistake. According to an article on concealedguns.org, they believe public safety
should be left to professionally qualified police officers, not to private citizens, with less or no
training. Not everybody is capable of handling a life or death situation while using firearms in a
mature way, possibly allowing the situation to escalate more then what it was in the beginning. For

9. An Interconnection Of Distributed Generations ( Dgs )
A microgrid is an interconnection of distributed generations (DGs), either a set of dispatchable
generating sources such as, gas turbines and fuel cells or non dispatchable generators such as, wind
turbines and photovoltaic sources, integrated with electrical and thermal energy storage devices to
meet the customers local energy needs, operating as a single system and small scale, on low voltage
distribution systems providing both power and heat. To ensure that the microgrid is operated as a
single aggregated system and meets power quality, reliability and security standards, power electronic
interfaces and controls need to be applied [1 2]. A microgrid should be capable work in two modes,
grid connected or islanded. The DGs are usually power electronics interfaced and in the grid
connected mode of operation, a microgrid is supported by the main grid s voltage and frequency. In
the island mode, the DG control is responsible for frequency regulation. Moreover, the control is also
responsible for managing the active and reactive power contributions of the DG system, such that the
load power is properly shared amongst the DG systems of the microgrid. Centralized control
approaches, however, require remarkable data transfer capacities and reliable communication links
[3], [4] and [5]. As such, they may be suitable for small scale microgrid in which the DG systems are
close together. For DG systems that are scattered over a large geographic span, decentralized droop

Have you ever had a friend who was mean to you and argued with you? Vinny and Joe Boy are both
characters in a story called The Ravine . They are best friends who live in Hawaii and go to a ravine to
cliff jump and swim. There was a boy who died there two weeks and one day before they arrived. Joe
Boy and Vinny are different in many ways and they are similar in some ways.
Vinny is weak because he couldn t stand up to his friends and say no. One example from the text is,
Vinny smashed his lips. He was so weak. Couldn t even say no. But if he d said, I can t go, my mother
won t like it. they would ve laughed him right off the island. No, he had to go. No choice. Vinny is
weak and can t stand up to his friends. In the same way, Vinny is compassionate because he feels
scared for Starlene. On page 7, it says She has no fear, Vinny thought, no fear at all.
Pleasepleaseplease,Starlene. I don t want to see you die. He feels very nervous about Starlene jumping
off the 50 foot ledge. On the other hand, Vinny is worried about Starlene jumping and getting hurt.
The author wrote, Vinny s stomach tingled just watching her. He couldn t imagine what it must be like
to be up there, especially if you were afraid of heights, like he was. Vinny is scared of heights and can

Joe Boy is confident. He went to the ravine because he wanted to, not because his friends want him to.

12. The Experience Machine By Nozick
Have you ever wished you could have anything you wanted in life? I know I have. I ve always wanted
a world where everything would be to my liking and nothing would be to my dissatisfaction. Nozick
sets up a scenario where we can get a maximum amount of pleasure by plugging into an experience
machine that allows us to undergo anything we wanted while we are in a tank with electrodes attached
to our heads. One will be plugged in for two years at a time but while one is attached, the experiences
are going to seem like they are actually happening. He takes this machine to disprove the hedonism
view that says consciously experience pleasure is the most important thing to living a good life. In his
opinion he would not plug in because while one is in the machine, one cannot do certain things, be a
certain person or come in contact with reality. I had never really thought about the option of
experiencing anything I wanted versus living a normal life before, but after reading The Experience
Machine by Nozick, I would pick living in a normal life because even though experiencing anything I
wanted would cause as much pleasure as possible, it limits one to things that are important to human
life such as being able to physically perform or experience things and having an impact in society
The experience machine makes one feel like you are actually performing or experiencing the things
one is doing while plugged in but in reality, as Nozick described, you are floating in a tank with

2. Ionic compounds are soluble in water to a certain point depending on the compound. The level of
solubility changes among different compounds. Some ionic compounds can completely dissolve in
water and appear to be a homogeneous mixture. Although, some ionic compounds dissolve very little,
and could be considered insoluble, since it does not dissolve fully. Depending on the compound, the
level of solubility can be high or low. However, ionic compounds could dissolve to a certain degree. If
the solution appears to be a heterogeneous mixture, many may assume through visual representation
that it may be insoluble. As stated previously, the smallest amount of solubility should be considered.
To confirm whether or not the substance is soluble, observe the efficiency when conducting electricity.
Due to practical reasons, the slightest solubility could be considered insoluble by people.

Hydrogen chloride gas does not conduct electricity because it is a covalent bond which is formed from
two nonmetal atoms. These two nonmetals share electrons, therefore resulting in no freely moving
electrons. However, in a hydrochloric acid solution water is present resulting in the solution to
conduct electricity. This is because when hydrochloric acid is created, the molecules split into ions
creating an acidic solution. Since it contains freely moving ions in a liquid state. Electricity can be
transferred easily as well. HCl(g)+H2O(l)→HCl (aq) + O2 (g)

greater attraction. Then it will return to its previous state of the dispersion of

15. Being A Relationship With Someone Can Really Put One
Being a relationship with someone can really put one to the test. It takes two to be in a relationship
and it is usually two people who love one another. Within a relationship, there will be ups and downs
and agreements and disagreements, but that is when the two individuals have to come together as one
and fix the situation. During relationships, there will be arguing and quarrels, but it takes the two
lovers to know their limits. Physical and emotional abuse are the most common abuses known to take
place in a relationship, but emotional abuse can be worse than physical abuse; even though it may
result in psychical abuse from self harm or from the harm of the spouse. Emotional abuse commonly
cannot be seen within a person, because one tries to hide it from other people by keeping a smile on
their face daily, and using the phrase, I am fine, everything is okay. , when really one is broken inside.
Most people are afraid to leave the relationship they are in because of the fact that they have given
their all to that person, and to just let it all go at once has been an extremely challenging situation to
face. There is no perfect relationship and the sun is not always shining like some songs and movies
portray love to be. Being called names, avoiding communication with each other, yelling and
screaming at each other, are all aspects of emotional abuse. During relationships, true enough, times
will get hard. Being called names, yelling and screaming at each other, rolling

Consequently, I would not quit and I earned a GPA of a 4.0 and will try my best to maintain that
average. How I calculated the GPA, took two classes that were three credit hours each received an A in
both classes, multiplied the credited hours by my grades then divided with total hours.
Balanced against my health and the chance of losing the financial aid I will move forward. Just encase

17. The Year-Round School Debate
A common debate among educators and school board members is the idea of year round schooling.
While many think this is best for students education, there are factors that could make it so it doesn t
affect their education or it makes matters worse. Most students are great full for their summer break.
They schedule family vacations, which are very important, and they are able to keep jobs with little to
no conflict in the summer. If that time was to be taken away, that would negatively affect students.
There are solutions other than making school go all year round.
A fact on year round schooling is that all schools would still take extended breaks after a set amount of
dates. The US Department of Education requires 180 days of attending school a year. One idea that a
school using year round school might use is the 60 20 plan. This means that students attend school for
60 days and get 20 days off. This also applies for the 45 15 and 80 30 plans. (Vandewater) ... Show

Also, the workload required of the teachers will go up. In addition, the students will be busy with
school work when they are usually on summer break. This is when most students will get jobs so that
school doesn t interfere. An employer will not want an employee that has to leave every week or so (
The Year Round School Debate ).
On the opposing side, researchers say that the long three months in the summer that students are not
attending school is when they lose the most information. Another benefit to switching to year round
schooling is that students will not get bored over the summer. They will have shorter breaks. It is also
said that hiring a tutor over the summer is not as good as some may think (Kalil). According to
another study, teachers and students don t have to spend as much time reviewing material that the
students learned the previous year. Also some schools that have switched to year round, got extra

19. Life Can Bring Out The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
Life can bring out the good, the bad, and the ugly. Most people can identify one person who shares
these three traits. Heroes usually take the form of the good, while villains take the form of the bad or
even the ugly. However, one thing remains certain. Most people who are brought up to become heroes
are unsung heroes. They are not famous, nor recognized for their deeds. Instead, this breed of heroes
commits themselves to the greater good, not to the fame or extravagant lives some heroes eventually

Vietnam where he became a school teacher in 1909. After 2 years of teaching, he decided to work as a

21. Stereotypes Of Teenagers
The ages thirteen through nineteen have been influenced by many things through the media. TV
programs, movies, advertising, magazines, and the web. These medias are more used by teenagers
than any other group. Teenagers are very difficult to figure out what they watch, or read, or listen. It s
different, but all together it s mostly the same. The TV programs have a lot of stereotypes towards
teenagers. Girls think they can t do things that guys do. There are programs out there that show those
types of stereotypes and these stereotypes get into their head which makes them realize there s no way
for them to do it. The contradicted stereotypes are that there are some girls out there in this world that
CAN do what any guy can do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In school, there are clubs and after school activities. The people running those advertise by giving out
fliers or just straight up talking to you about their club or the activities. They can also ask a specific
person, like for example, they can go to a different race and talk about a certain subject that s referring
to that race. Anyone can be advertised in any way or anything. It doesn t matter if you re a girl or a
guy or a different race. You ll be advertised anyways. Sometimes when it s a specific type of
advertisement that s referring to someone specific, it can make you think oh it s not for me so I should
just ignore it. And it ll make you feel like that advertisement wasn t for you, but for someone else.
There are so many different kinds of magazines. There are fashion magazines, fitness magazines,
cooking magazines, and all other kinds. The ones that teens usually look at are fashion, fitness, and
sport magazines. For girls the fashion magazine is the one they would most likely look at. They want
to follow the trends and what s in and what s out of fashion and some want to fit in with a crew that
dresses differently. Same thing with the guys. Whatever s out of fashion for them, they don t wear
anymore, but for girls whatever was out can come back to trend. For the guys that usually doesn t
happen. People may think of you differently because of what you re wearing, but they really don t
know who you really are.

Both the stories shed light on the clients perspectives in relation to their traditions, belief, value

the clients. Both believed in traditions, family ties, gender roles and religious beliefs. They were self
reliant and independence. The role of religion in everyday life was strongly embedded in Sarah s
client. This exposure to the cultural diversity has helped me through the process of developing
culturally competent care. The various models described in chapter 4 are crucial to understand the

23. ‘The Metamorphosis’ and ‘A Hunger Artist’
There are many parallels and differences between Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis and A Hunger
Artist . Kafka portrays these differences and similarities very effectively through his utilization of
elements such as transformation, dehumanization, and dedication to work. Through his works, Kafka
communicates with the reader in such a way that almost provokes and challenges one s imagination
and creativity.
Kafka is known for his highly symbolic and oblique style of writing. It is no surprise that several of
his pieces contain the same major themes, just in different settings. The fact that he repeats his styles
only makes the message that he is trying to convey much stronger. In both The Metamorphosis and A
Hunger Artist , the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In A Hunger Artist, the main character s lack of fulfillment causes him despair. He reacts to this
disparity by starving himself, almost as if showing resistance to the outside world. He views himself
as separate from everyone else, thus confining himself in a cage (Bedford 636).
Another evident similarity between the two works is the treatment of the characters. Both Gregor and
the hunger artist are treated inhumanely. This is clear in The Metamorphosis when Greta begins to
think of Gregor as an it (Metamorphosis 51). Although Gregor has transformed physically, he is still
human inside. Everyone around him fails to see that though, and only regard him by what they see,
which is a bug. Likewise, the hunger artist is not treated as a human being either. The hunger artist is
infatuated with being the best faster in Europe. This obsession deprives him from forming any social
or long lasting relationships. His alienation eventually accounts for his demise, along with the fact that
he is constantly misunderstood. The people who come to see him, as well as the people who guard
him, do not understand that he is not fasting for amusement. Fasting beyond the forty day limit is
important to the hunger artist, but no one can comprehend why, which creates a barrier between the
hunger artist and the outside world. Because of this barrier, people treat him as if he is just another
animal in a cage. When he joins

24. Financial Ratios Analysis Of Pumpkin Patch Limited
Introduction
This is the report about financial ratios analysis of Pumpkin Patch Limited(PPL). This children s
clothing retail brand began with one store in 1991, now has about 600 employees across 43 stores in
New Zealand and 1000 staff in 117 stores in Australia. However, it tripped into receivership recently.
At the same time, Pumpkin Patch managing director Luke Bunt said however, despite considerable
efforts by the board and its management team, it has become evident that no solution is available to
the company, at this time, to address the current over leveraged and significantly capital constrained
position. (McNicol, 2016)

Moreover, comparing zero interest bearing liability in 2014 with 41 million in 2015, the current
liability was increased from 30 million to 72 million. It also explained why current ratio was declined
from 3.04 in 2014 to 0.88 and 0.73 in 2015 and 2016 separately.
The quick ratio is a more rigorous test for the company s ability to meet its short term debts than
current ratio because inventory was eliminated from current assets. The quick ratio for PPL indicates
serious issues as it has decreased from 0.31 in 2012 to 0.07 in 2016. The low quick ratio implies that a
considerable portion of the current assets of the company is tied up as part of its inventory (Bragg,
2007), which means that the lower level of quick liquidity ratio indicates a high level of financial risk.
The balance sheet for PPL (PPL, 2016) revealed that, particularly in 2016, the inventory accounted for
90% of the current assets. Therefore, the company must improve its working capital to meet its near
term current liabilities.
The cash conversion cycle is a result of time taken by the company for their collection from
receivables (average collection period) and time needed to convert material into goods (day inventory
held) after subtracting the time taken to pay its current obligation (day payable outstanding). The
average collection period of account receivable and the day inventory held ratio improved in 2016
after rose to the highest days in 2014, which

average American consumer today, your hair is 69% made of corn carbon. This is in contrast to the 5%

and the corn content of the American diet is partially responsible for our country s widespread obesity
and the prevalence of diabetes. America s over production of corn has serious consequences for our

The problem is, cows are not built to digest corn, and so we are actually poisoning them while we try
to get the most meat that we can for America. Due to the severity of the situation, cows are pumped

six months later, the cattle would die anyways.
The mid 70 s was also the beginning of the rise of high fructose corn syrup.
Now, I m not talking about the corn we eat on the cob. There are many types of corn. The surplus corn
needs to be chemically processed in order to be edible. Basically, the average American eats 200 more
calories a day than we did in the 1970s, a major factor being corn. This is why the levels of obesity

The young man does not know what is in store for him. He goes to the hotel ready to show his
dexterity, but is humiliated by having to participate in a battle royal, which is a boxing match between
multiple participants. Young men in the fight are blindfolded, I had no dignity. I stumbled about like a
baby or a drunken man (244). The boy shows great inner strength when he chooses to stay in the fight
for amusement of the white businessmen, which demonstrates his fulfillment to his grandfathers
words. If in fact he does get thrown out he many not have a chance to give his speech.
The second humiliating experience was after the battle royal match. Money is lying on an electrified

surprised shriek to join those rising around me. I tried frantically to remove my hand but could not let
go. A hot, violent force tore through my body, shaking me like a wet rat. The rug was electrified (246).
This quote demonstrates the amount of humiliation that the young man is put through, because of his
grandfathers dying words he counties to the end when he gives his speech.

The United States have been divided over the controversy of whether or not the death penalty is a
humane punishment to use against criminals. Eighteen states, as well as the District of Columbia, have
banned it, the remaining states have not. The government and law enforcements believe the death
penalty deters crime rates across America. This has yet to be proven right. In S. E. Cupp s article, The
Conservative Case Against the Death Penalty , she says: The country needs to have a clear eyed
conversation about the death penalty, one that puts both anecdotal and emotional arguments aside in
favor of some serious analysis. In addition, one thing to question is the motive behind capital
punishment. The desire for retribution on someone is one of the lowest human emotions. It can be
understandable, but not a very coherent response to a critical situation. Raymond A. Schroth says: To
kill the person who has killed someone close to you is simply to continue the cycle of violence which
ultimately destroys the avenger as well as the offender. This an eye for an eye deal seems to contribute
to this cycle of violence. The government and U.S. prosecutors seem to think that killing someone for
a criminal act that they have done will send a message to others and make them give a second thought
before murdering someone or attempting to do so.
But, statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have shown that the homicide rates in

Macbeth Comparative Essay In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare and the movie Throne of
Blood by Akira Kurosawa, there are two very different narratives. Both specify the same conflict of
Macbeth killing Duncan and him becoming king and having the same characters. The narratives do
have differences relating to the characters on how the stories both play out. In Shakespeare s play
Macbeth the setting takes place in Scotland speaking with their own language. In the movie Throne of
Blood the setting is in Japan were of course Japanese is spoken having a difference from both
narratives. There are many minor differences stories as they both play out yet the plot seems to be

As Shakespeare wrote his plays he always throws in a drama. As for the director of Throne of Blood
he put all the drama in the ending. The reason why he took away the scenes of Macduff s family.
Kurosawa s narrative became a dramatic irony until the violent ending. Kurosawa did not want
Washizu to die at the hands of a grieving father and husband. He decided to end it with Washizu s
soldiers killing him making the movie have a dramatic change. As for Shakespeare his play involved
of a killer being able to kill the father, Banquo, but not the son, Fleance. Both amazing narratives, yet
written differently to end the story of Macbeth s death. As always not everything can be similar from a
story to a movie. A movie will always be written or directed in any way the director writes the scripts
for the actors. Such as plays they are written the way the writers would want the actors to perform
because they would know how the audience will be captivated by the drama. Shakespeare and
Kurosawa had different ways to write both narratives yet both came out in their own unique way. As
for the audience they could enjoy either both. The same conflicts Macbeth had to show in both
narratives was the murder of the king. Later to him becoming a king that he started to kill anyone who

Charles Le Brun s Influence on the Palace of Versailles
Charles Le Brun, a renowned 17th century artist politician lived between 1619 and 1690. He gained
prominence through his impeccable paintings, coupled with his mastery of creation in the architecture
of gardens, buildings, and in sculptures. Le Brun drew his inspiration from Michelangelo, which
expanded his horizons by creating sculptures and architecture, alongside painting. As one of the
dominant artists in France, Le Brun put immense value on visual expression in an era of
expressionism. He is responsible for the decoration in the Palace of Versailles, Hesselin, and Vaux. In
fact, Le Brun designed almost every decorative detail in the Palace of Versailles, which included
decorations, artwork, and landscape. Built for King Louis XIV, the Palace of Versailles is an elaborate,
magnificent representation of French Baroque architecture, and it is one of the most famous royal
chateaus in France. The scale of its decoration comprises of the rhythmic repetition of large windows
expressing core values of Baroque art. According to Baroque architecture, buildings required a focal

Univariate analysis was done using the X2 or Fisher s exact test for categorical variables and the
Kruskal Wallis test for continuous variables. Detailed descriptions of the steps for detecting IGF 1 cut
off points were previously published. (REF) Kaplan Meier method was used to estimate the median
overall survival (OS) which is the time interval between the date of the blood draw for IGF 1
measurement and the death date or the last follow up date. The log rank test used to detect the
statistical significance between the subgroups in both CTP score and the new IGF CTP score. Cox
proportional hazard model used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence interval (95%
CI) to identify independent prognostic factors for overall survival. R Programing software used to
calculate the Harrell s C index and U statistics to compare the prognostic performance of both scores
among the three cohorts. A two sided P value as descriptive measures was considered statistically
significant if less than

44. Similarities Between Jazz And Rock N Roll
The future of jazz lies in the music s spontaneity and liveliness. Aspects of the music, that have been
there since its conception, such as improvisation, make it forever subject to change, which is what the
music needs. The jazz music that is being created today is far from what the public expects to hear in
music. It will not be popular, but it stands a very good chance of being excellent music. Change in jazz
is inevitable because, like language, communities change, provide new contexts that require new
expressions, or find new ways of doing things (Nicholson 71). There will always be people who
appreciate jazz s complexity more than the music being played on the radio or the artists selling the
most records. Jazz is dead only in regards to its mainstream popularity, but the music itself is very
much alive. People are incorporating aspects of jazz style into their own works every day by taking it
in new and original directions. Change occurs when someone wants the language or music to do
something it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other music genres, such as rock n roll, country, and hip hop have attempted to do the same by taking
current issues and addressing them through lyrics or sounds. In particular, jazz and rock n roll share
many similarities. Both relied heavily upon saxophones as lead instruments and both rose from the
outskirts of society to become an integral part of the American musical canon (Fitzgerald 1). Charlie
Watts of the Rolling Stones is one of the most respected musicians in the world for bringing the
sensibilities of a jazz drummer to rock music (www.therollingstones.com). Watts is just one example
of a rock n roll legend whose love and appreciation for music is rooted in/ started with jazz, listening
when he was around ten years old to artists like Miles Davis and John Coltrane
