This modernization era, animations become a common thing to the modern people. There is a lot

Illich s Contributions Of Education In Public Education
Illich has cited three ways to improve the education of the poor despite more costly treatment 1.
Three billion dollars are insufficient to improve the perform ance of six million children by a
measurable amount; or
2. The money was incompetently spent: different curricula, better administration, further
concentration of the funds on the poor child, and more research are needed and would do the trick;
or 3. Educational disadvantage cannot be cured by relying on education within the school.
Illich has questioned our assumptions about schooling and left us with a gateway to start thinking
about our question, Is public education necessary.? A critical thing to mention here is that he made
a distinction between education and schooling. Illich has made a distinction between the two ways
of distributing chances, one is based on certification of passage through a curriculum for a length of
time whereas another is based on demonstration of a particular skill i.e. acquisition of knowledge
and experience. I agree with the Illich s distinction between education and schooling. According to
Illich, education should be an intellectual endeavor to better oneself by obtaining a greater
knowledge base, while schooling, is institutionalized education which deters the mind from relying
on oneself for knowledge and being more dependent upon the system to go further in life. I totally
agree with Illich that schooling does institutionalize education. I think that schooling on the

Security Assertion Markup Language is an Extensible Markup Language (XML) standard that lets a
user to log on once for associated but different Web sites. SAML is intended for business to
business and business to consumer transactions (Rouse, 2008). SAML states three components:
assertions, protocol, and binding, and authentication, attribute, and authorization are the three
assertions. Authentication assertion verifies the user s identity. Attribute assertion has detailed data
about the user. And authorization assertion checks what the user is authorized to do.
Features
SAML has many good features that we all can take advantages of. One of its features is that it
supports single sign on with numerous identity benefactors. Another one is that it also supports
alternatives for identity assertion and mapping the assertion identity to the user registry of the
service provider. Also, according to IBM SAML Single Sign on Scenarios, Features, and
Limitations (2016), SAML service provider can map or assert SAML token attributes to the realm,
principal, unique Id, and group, and set them into the service provider security context. It gives a
plug point to allow for customized identity mapping.

Affordable Food Argument Essay
The United States prides itself on its freedoms and the many rights it guarantees to its citizens. A
person has the right to religious freedom, to a trial by jury, to free speech, to free expression but
what about the right to healthful food? At this point, no right in the United States explicitly
guarantees citizens access to nutritious, affordable food. A possible reason for this is that
guaranteeing equal access to food across the nation is a daunting task. How does one even begin to
accomplish such a goal? But despite its difficulty, this is an end to which the nation must work. It is
too important an opportunity to miss because of indolence. Access to healthful, affordable food
should be a right of citizenship in the United Statesbecause the nation recognizes such access as a
basic human right and because such access is arguably a more important right than many that we
currently enjoy. While practically, realizing this goal will be a challenge, the United States can do
so by simply protecting other human rights, such as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Native Americans and Their Intrinsic Relationship with...
Dances With Wolves, directed by Kevin Costner, and The Searchers, directed by John Ford, looks
into the fabric of this country s past. The media has created a false image of the relationship
between Native Americans and White men to suppress the cruel and unfortunate reality. Both
directors wanted to contradict these stereotypes, but due to the time period the films were created,
only one film was successful. Unlike The Searchers, Dancing With Wolves presents a truly realistic
representation of Native Americans.
Both Dances With Wolves and The Searchers protagonists, Dunbar and Ethan, embark on a
journey and evolve in different ways. The purpose of Dunbar s journey is to find who he is. For
Ethan, it is to rescue his nieces who he feels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this depiction, the Native Americans lure the men away from their homes, savagely kill their
families, and commit wrong. It is the white men who have to painstakingly hunt down the Indians
to reinstate justice, righting the wrongs that have been done. Native Americans are depicted as a
demonizing form of the other, a force to which fear and repression can be the only responses.
Costner s work almost inverts this.
Both films critique White racism and violence. Dunbar is guilty of the Whites and realizes that
they are involved in a system where the Native culture, habitats, and populations are being
destroyed. To purge his overwhelming sense of guilt, he switches sides and fights against his old
comrades. White society is the demon while the Native Americans are apotheosized. In The
Searchers, Ford presented Ethan not as the hero but almost as a subtle villain, a racist that embarks
on a fixated and zealous mission that is fuelled by his hatred of Native Americans. Ford uses Ethan
to depict the wrong actions of Whites.
Kevin Costner and John Ford both use the Natives language in their films. The big difference is the
effort of the directors. Costner uses sub titles and actual Native language unlike Ford. Ford does not
use the proper language for the Comanche. In beginning of Dances With Wolves, there is not as
much dialogue between Dunbar and Natives, but the body language is significant along with other
forms of symbolic communication used to make the story

Benjamin Franklin and His Contribution to the American...
Benjamin Franklin was one of the most influential men of the eighteenth century. He was the only
man to sign all of these four major documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of
Alliance with France, the Constitution of the United States, and the Treaty of Peace with Great
Britain. Franklin was an inventor, a philosopher, a writer, a musician, and he actively participated in
many congressional articles used by the government of the United Statesof America. His tombstone,
however, simply referred to him as printer , reflecting his great humility. One of the things he was
most influential in was the separation of the American colonies from British rule. In fact, Benjamin

However, Franklin realized that this was mostly a declaration of independence from England,
which hadn t gained enough support amongst the Americans for Benjamin to force a vote. So, it
can be concluded, Franklin was very much ahead of his time in writing the Articles as America
now uses the proportional representation system when electing officials and Congress
eventually wrote a declaration against British rule anyway. Franklin would often go on missions
for Congress. The first trip was to Cambridge in October 1775. His second mission was to
Canada in March 1776. Throughout the second trip, Franklin became severely ill and, upon his
return home, he was bedridden for months. While Franklin was still lying sick in his bed, he was
appointed as chairman of a committee whose purpose was to draft a declaration of America s
independence. The committee also included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston,
and Roger Sherman. Jefferson composed the core of the document. When he had finished his first
draft, he asked Franklin to make any alterations that he felt necessary. Franklin made a few
changes, such as We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable to We hold these truths to be
self evident . On July 2, the Continental Congress voted for independence. The declaration was
passed two days later on July 4. A month later on August 2, the official signing took place. John

There are many different types of accounting standards and principles in the business world. It

the current standards. Then, it will highlight the future implications of adopting the AASB 15 for

through 2050 is needed for Japan in order to maintain its workforce at the 1995 level (U. N.
Population Division 53). The news surprised many people in Japan, and they were forced to face
the immigration issue sincerely. This controversial issue has been discussed for last 150 years.
Facing today s low birth rate and ageing population, Japan should now accept more immigrants and
become a multi ethnic country in the future. On the other hand, there are strong oppositions against
accepting immigrants for economic and cultural reasons. To clarify the points, first the issue

skillful worker at last. Another program for encouraging skilled foreign workers to come to
Japan has just started few years ago under the Economic Partnership Agreement with the
Philippines and Indonesia. Foreign nurses and care workers are now accepted in hospitals and
nursing homes in Japan. Through these programs, Japan is trying to meet the demands of the
labor force in particular industries. However, there are many reasons from the opposite side to
restrict foreign workers coming to Japan from the economic point of view. The strongest
opposition is that there are enough women and retired workers who are ready to work. Mainly
because of the tax system and insufficient public supports for them, Japanese women are not likely
to return to their previous jobs after their first maternity leaves (Only 32.5% of them returned in
2008) (Jinkoukozou Kenkyubu). Most of them have job experience and can adjust new jobs
immediately with less financial support than foreign workers need. Regarding the programs for
foreigners that the government promotes, they totally failed. The policy of the Industrial Training
and Technical Internship Program is to train unskilled foreign workers to become skilled human
resources for the countries where they came from, but the reality is

differences of language ability in children at 36 months. From a critical assessment standpoint, this
study did a great job of assessing the relationship between birth weight and developmental delay
regarding language development and ability. Clearly, the information and research were accurate
but it was presented in an engaging way through research methods and the discussion section. My
only criticism of the study was the longitudinal design, which caused attrition and also measured
different things at different time points. By this, I mean that I personally think that it would have
been more beneficial to have consistent measures across all time points to more adequately and
accurately compare all facets being studied (i.e., maternal behavior and children s receptive
language using the PPVT). However, this limitation was noted by the researchers and suggested to
future longitudinal studies examining the impacts of low birth weight on language abilities. The
study sparked my interest in how parents can help to facilitate language development, as the article
mentioned that postnatal factors, such as responsive parenting, can help buffer risks for children
who were born with low birth weight. This involves a matter of resiliency and

The Role of Fate in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juiliet
Fate. Who would have guessed that this four letter, one syllable word would play such a big role
in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet? Many people believed that it was free choices that led to the
tragic ending of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, but it was really fate. When looking up fate
using dictionary.com, it says that fate s something that unavoidably befalls a person; fortune,
but in Romeo and Juliet, fate is reality. Perhaps the biggest and most overlooked example of fate
was in the Prologue. It tells of a death marked love which proposes the story s concept of the
people s abridgment of control in their own lives. Romeo and Juliet could not expect their death
resulting from their cherished love, just as people couldn t control their future, and when
Mercutio was dying he shouts a plague on both your houses (III. I. 104). This reminded us of
Romeo and Juliet s fate. This glimpse of this tragic scene, gives us an example of what fate has
in store for Romeo and Juliet. Mercutio blames his death on both families when he died trying
to stop a fight against Romeo, a Montague, and Tybalt, a Capulet. Fate is two sided, it could
bring happiness and joy, while bringing despair and sorrow, too. In the tale of Romeo and Juliet,
Romeo attempted to defy his own fate. However, due to his blindness and reckless love for Juliet,
his actions backfired and dragged him down to his inevitable fate; a fate that he tried so hard to
avoid. Eventually, he would meet his

Eliminating deductions, tax credits, and complex tax brackets also simplifies the tax code,
making compliance easier. (Tonya Moreno, CPA, no date) Some proponents of the flat tax
would like to see the Federal Form 1040 replaced by a simple post card on which you write your
wages and multiply it by one tax rate. I can agree with that! Why is it that our current tax plan has
to be so difficult to understand? Another part of the flat tax philosophy is to remove double taxation,
by only taxing earned income. Things like dividends, interest on savings, or capital gains that
result from investment or increases in asset value would not be taxed under a pure flat tax
system. (Tonya Moreno, CPA, no date) Investopedia.com defines Flat tax as a system that
applies the same tax rate to every taxpayer regardless of income bracket. A flat tax applies the
same tax rate to all taxpayers, with no deductions or exemptions allowed. Flat tax system
proposes that it would give taxpayers incentive to earn more because they would not be

Reflection Of Katrina And Federalism
Katrina and Federalism Reflection Essay
Before watching the video titled Federalism: Lessons of Katrina, I expected it to be about how the
government responded to hurricane Katrina. Not only was my assumption correct, I gained a better
understanding of federalism by observing how the local, state, and national levels of government
responded to one of the worst crises in American history. From my observation, it seemed that the
government on all levels failed to prepare, and then aid, the victims of the disaster. I think this
failure was caused by the lack of communication between the different levels of government and
could have been prevented had the governments worked together. In addition, I think the

During Katrina there were many times that the local, state, and federal governments did not
cooperate effectively. For example, the governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco, addressed the issue
her state faced and asked for everything the federal government had, as in disaster relief and aid,
but the ambiguity of the statement caused the federal government to withhold resources until the
governor addressed more specific needs. Issues such as these prevent the different levels of
government from cooperating in an effective manner and demonstrate one of the most significant
problems with federalism. Another example of how the different levels of government fail to
cooperate effectively is a statement by William Lokey from the federal government s disaster
relief agency, FEMA. During an interview with the press, Lokey tells the governor and the entire
nation that certain areas of Louisiana s coasts are safe and that flood waters are receding. The

Screwtape Letter Essay
In the Screwtape Letter, by C.S. Lewis, Srewtape insists that all pleasures are created by the
Enemy, meaning God, and that demons have not figured out how to create them. It s an idea
commonly seen in Christian theology. God brought all things into this world to be good, and those
things can and have been corrupted by demons and the lot. What Screwtape is saying is that, God
wants people to experience pleasure, and that it is a demon s job to corrupt a person s sense of
that pleasure. Screwtape brings up the idea multiple times throughout his letters. He mentions it
mainly with talking about love and corrupting Wormwood s human s idea of love. His focus on it
seems to show some kind of fascination. Possibly that of envy. Not in the sense... Show more

Surely if God created all pleasures, then all pleasures are good, and thus, sin cannot exist. However,
each person possess free will, and with that free will, must choose a path that brings them to God.
Therefore, without some temptations, free will would be rather pointless, as everyone would
forcibly be in the grace of God.
While that s a possibility, a much more likely reason is presented in the Screwtape Letters.
Which is, once again, that demons corrupt that which God has already establish. Screwtape is
constantly telling Wormwood how to use and abuse the free will which God has given humans,
and even mentions at one point how easy it would be for God to just draw everyone to him, but
how it would violate free will. So really, it is a combination of both free will and God punishing
those who fall from his path and allow themselves to be controlled by demons.
In conclusion, all pleasures were made by God. They were not intended to be sin, however,
demons corrupted them into sin, to draw people into their domain. Humans, having free will, are
freely influenced off the path to God into that sin, by demons. In Screwtape Letters, Screwtape
frequently talks about using pleasures and exploiting free will for Wormwood to ensure he captures
the soul of the human he s assigned

George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch leader, was driving to Target to run a errand on the
night of February 26, 2012 when he observed a suspicious person, leisurely walking in the rain,
looking at all the houses, wearing a grey hoodie as he would tell dispatch in his 911 call made at
7:09 p.m. Moments later an altercation occurred between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, which
left Trayvon dead from a single gunshot wound to his chest and Zimmerman with a bloody nose
and a cut to the back of his head. Zimmerman asserted that the shooting was done in self defense
because he thought Trayvon was reaching for his ( Zimmerman s ) concealed gun and he feared for
his life. Eye witness accounts of the event backed his claim that Trayvon was hitting him, but

testimony that the prosecution could not refute or cast any doubt on. They also offered

showed that Zimmerman had no way out of the fight other than lethal force. I think the only thing
that the defense did incorrectly was to not ask for immunity under the Stand Your Ground law. I

The prosecution s theory of the case as they outlined in their opening statement was the

struck Zimmerman s head against the ground. The defense contended that the evidence would show
that Zimmerman shot Trayvon from below, with Trayvon s shirt hanging down over his client s

I.Introduction
The key to knowing what is on a person mind are the conversations. I have always heard be an
active listen. An active listener is a person who response to what is being said and not a

The art of conversation is a key tool for management and upcoming leaders. In the book are

or catapult your team to next level. It is so easy to focus on the past and the results of the past. The
hardness job is changing the conversation from the past to spend majority of your conversion about
the present and the future. Past results are the rubrics used to make decisions; the present and future
has no manifested measurable results to make a conclusion. There are a few chapters will be
discussed: tapping your most precious asset, making things happen, changing organizational
culture, changing your image and conversation as a way of life.

Myths About Going Through Debate Essay
3 Myths About Going Through Probate After you pass away, your family will need to go
through probate to validate your will. Once everything is verified, your assets can be divided
according to your intentions. The benefit of probate is that it will clarify your will to your family,
making sure there are not any misunderstanding or arguments about what you desired.
Unfortunately, there are some myths about probate that you may have heard that simply are not
true. All Estates Go Through Probate If you have a will then probate will be necessary for
verification of the will and dividing assets. However, there are alternatives to having a will if you
do not want your family to go through probate. One way to do this is through living trusts, which...

certain there is no inheritance in the final outcome. Probate Will Take A Long Time To Go
Through The larger an estate is, the longer the probate process will take. Court fees, attorney s
fees, accounting fees, appraisal fees, and even bond fees will minimize your family s
inheritance. You can limit the length of the probate process by reducing the size of your estate

assets away through custodial accounts or gifts. Each year you are allowed to give up to
$14,000 to family members without worrying about the consequences of taxes. Make sure to plan

Antisocial Personality Disorder is a very rare disorder. The criteria to be diagnosed with
Antisocial Personality Disorder has been changed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders throughout many years. The rareness of this disorder can be considered
beneficial in the world because of the way people diagnosed with it become and what they do to
others. Many people diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder find their self in prison. A
variety of causes pertain to this disorder. Very few treatments of this disorder seem to work of this
that has been tested. Researchers are still working on a better way to treat this disorder. The defense
mechanisms associated with antisocial personality disorder are quite common and the same during
the course of diagnosis.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial personality disorder (APD or ASPD) is a mental disorder in which a person s approach
in any given situation as well as his style of thinking is neglecting towards others. People with this
disorder are commonly known as psychopaths or sociopaths. An individual with APD shows
empathy and disregards people s thoughts and feelings. Those with APD can be characterized as
morally reprehensible. They are the ones that seem to say all of the right things. Antisocial

Compare to patterns of criminal activity and violence in England during this period. Explain

because if they were injured by another group they had their own supporters. Their supports
could bail them out of trouble by paying compensation to the other member in which they killed

Free Market Economies
Introduction Europe s past wasn t always peaceful as it is today and with friendly relations
between countries. For instance the country this report is about had wars with their neighbors
the United Kingdom for more than a century. As usual the battles were for supremacy and for the
right to have colonies all over the globe, because when these wars were raging the whole world
was to be re discovered in some way. Back then navies where the main driving force of the
economy and even for the world. They were the only known to man method of transporting
goods, slaves and people. History of France France was a pure monarchy for a vast period of its
history as an established society of people. During this period people were divided into classes,
which was good for some people but for the rest of the country it was devastating. This was the
main reason for the French revolution which took 10 years for the people to remove the
monarchy regime, but a great man as Napoleon saw the opportunity and took the power, but he
wasn t like other dictators, he tried to spread all over Europe a liberal movement with main goal
equality for every person no matter what his family is doing for a living. (1) Why is the family
business mentioned? The reason for this is that before the revolution classes were divided by their

ANALYSIS OF A RECENT SERVICE EXPERIENCE
A recent service experience Recently, I had a very awful experience with Uber service which
makes me realize the difficulty of perfect service. I tried to call an Uber car, two month ago, to the
Miami international airport. It took about 30 minutes before the driver finally showed up and she
claimed that my apartment was very hard to locate. Meanwhile, I was aware that she barely
speaks English. She told me she just came from Cuba one month ago and only speaks Spanish
but I merely speak. According to recent study found that there are 66.37% of Miami Dade s
residents speak Spanish, while those who only speak English make up 28.07% (MLA, 2010).
Then, she set up navigation bring me to the destination. However, she missed the first exit of
highway without noticed and refused my help. I suggestion her exist next one and go back to the
first exist we just missed. Unfortunately, she kept following the navigator, eventually stopped at a
cargo warehouse and told me she got lost. I had no choice but to use my GPS got us arrived at the
airport finally. Moreover, I was charged for those extra miles due to Uber system calculation.

Analysis Of Star Wars
Star Wars: A Fantasy Not So Far From Reality
Star Wars, the single most recognizable science fiction experience to the date, hides a substantial
amount of real life issues, and borrows a great deal from real life history. While feasting these
senses, a lot can be gained by analyzing the saga, specifically A New Hope and The Phantom
Menace by George Lucas. Ironic themes exist in the saga in the likes of an oppressive government,
the horrid results of such governments, a strong presence of theology all which demonstrates
parallelism of real life; borrowing from some of history s most notable governments, events, and
theologies. From the first installment of Star Wars, it is overtly operant of George Lucas intentions

War, murder, and neglect all chief contributors to this astounding death toll backed by the
nefarious likes of Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, and vast number of omitted others
due to the length of the proverbial list. In Lucas first film, A New Hope, the empire destroys an
entire planet, annihilating countless lives, and shows a distasteful lack of morality. A simple
theme here genocide and utter disregard for human life, and the dangerous of such power in the
wrong hands. Lucas plays heavily on the audiences emotions with the destruction of the planet
Aldaaran. The decision to destroy the planet is made over a strategic demonstration of force and
to leverage to get the Rebel princess, Leigh, to divulge information (Episode I). The dramatic
screenplay displays a force with overwhelming power and how dangerous it could be in the hands
of force not checked, and likely has an inspired parallel event and a cautionary tale of what the
future may hold. August 6, 1945, Hiroshima, around 8:15 AM, nearly 80,000 people face the wrath
of United States, and pay with their lives to a bomb nicknamed little boy . Another is dropped, fat

Ctx And Osteoporosis
CTX and NTX are collagen degradation products from the C terminal and N terminal regions on
the cross links in type 1 collagen (Kujath 2011). The CTX consists of two isomeric forms, the

Impact Of Etfs Trading On Underlying Securities
Because price changes in ETFs directly reflect market information and alter investors behaviours
and asset allocation, the underlying security liquidity and volatility should be scrutinized. The third
main strand of academic literature has revealed that the potential impacts of ETFs trading on
underlying securities, and the markets as a whole, is of substantial interest to both investment
professionals and financial academics. There is an extensive amount of research that emphasises
the effects on liquidity, volatility and valuation. In fact, ETFs impact on the quality of underlying
securities is not an unexplored area to theoretical or empirical academics. Existing studies have
examined the effects of ETFs introduction on their underlying indices or composite securities.
Subrahmanyam (1991) and Gorton et al. (1993) established theoretical models to test basket
securities , including index linked securities or index futures contracts (Charupat and Miu, 2013).
The models predicted liquidity migration to component securities and indicated that the level of
diversification of a composite security is positively correlated with its appeal to liquidity traders.
The analysis was based on the idea that component stocks were diversified (with no firm risk), and
the liquidity traders, thus, expected lower losses to informed traders by trading in composite
securities rather than in underlying individual securities. Due to lower transaction costs, basket
securities were more

What We Learn From Kendrick Lemar s To Pimp A Butterfly
Life is a jungle, a beautiful, colorful landscape, often painted with harsh conflict and oppression.
Navigating forward requires keeping healthy relationships with the community and those close to
you, maintaining focus on your true identity, and not losing sight of larger than life goals. These
ideals are the message that Kendrick Lamar wishes to bestow upon whomever experiences his latest
album, To Pimp A Butterfly.
Kendrick s story originates in Compton, a jungle at its core, where he learned that survival depends
on working with others and keeping intact with your roots. Because of the harsh living environment
and unavoidable presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Tupac, Kendrick wanted to demonstrate characteristics of a great leader so he too could
be an example for his people.
Unfortunately, the excessive fame and separation from Compton came with harsh consequences:
Kendrick began to struggle with keeping in touch with his roots, and the ideals that hoisted him
to the throne. He expresses these emotions in the track Momma, where he states how he knows
everything about life, but goes on to realize that after reaching stardom, he may be out of touch
with his roots and all he knew. Throughout the rest of To Pimp A Butterfly, we find out he felt lost
in the cocoon a metaphor for the grasp media has on society, and desperately began to cling to his
true identity as a way to break free from the cocoon s bounds. Eventually, Kendrick emerges as a
butterfly, wanting to return home and teach all the caterpillars what he learned.
For Kendrick, African American oppression and Compton s black on black crime is at the
forefront of his frustration, and a prime inspiration for his need to teach the community about
working together. On the track simply called I , a live recording, Kendrick is heard calling out to a
crowd to join together. Unfortunately, his message seems to initially fall on deaf ears. Instead of
listening, the crowd continues to fight over how to fix the problems in their community, rather than
unite to fight them together. As he continues to speak, the crowd becomes quieter, and Kendrick
goes on to condemn

Through The Tunnel Symbolism
In Through the Tunnel, the author, Doris Lessing, writes about a vacation of a widow and her son
named Jerry. Lessing turns Jerry s and his mother s relaxing vacation into a serious one with the
tools of symbolism to unveil the hidden message of the rocky bay and the tunnel, vivid imagery of
the tunnel, as well as similes and personification regarding Jerry s attitude towards the adventure;
moreover, the author creates an overall tone of determination and wonder to help construct the well
known theme of never giving up.
It is safe to assume the rocky bay and the tunnel both symbolize very important aspects in this short
story. The rocky bay could be said to symbolize a turning point in Jerry s life. In the first paragraph,
Jerry looked down at a wild and rocky bay, and then over the crowded beach he knew ... Show more

After Jerry had watched the older boys go through the tunnel and leave the bay, he was left alone
again. He then dived back in among the fanged and angry boulders, (3). This personification
emphasizes a negative connotation that shows how frustrated Jerry is at this point in his
adventure. He felt like he boys were leaving to get away from him, (3), which only further
supports the notion that he feels alone and has no clue what to do. However, after he decides to
get goggles, he ran right back and dived into the bay once more. While he was negative towards
the whole ordeal before, the following simile reveals a different tone: Now, he could see. It was
as if he had eyes of a different kind, fish eyes that showed everything clear and delicate and
wavering in the bright water, (3). The fact that he is now describing things as clear and delicate
shows a more positive connotation which can suggest that Jerry was not as frustrated after that. He
felt as if he got some of his composure and control back and is ready to continue on his

While on base you can lead off but you have to wait until after the pitch has been released. The
bases are only spread 60 feet apart which is why the pitch has to be released before you can lead
off in softball. The ball is also different, the ball for softball is significantly larger and softer. The
bats in softball are usually thinner and made out of aluminum, while the gloves are larger. The
gloves are larger because the ball is larger. The last thing for softball is the pitching, the pitch itself
is underhand. The pitching mound is on a level surface with the batter and it is also closer to the
batter.
Baseball is a similar sport but there are a lot of significant differences. The games last nine
innings and can also go into overtime. On base in the game the runner can lead off at anytime,
the reason for that is the bases are 90 feet apart. The ball is very small and because of that the
gloves are smaller. The bats in baseball are usually made out of wood. The pitching in baseball is
odd, the mound is on a slight hill making the pitching throw downward to hit the strike zone. The
players pitch overhand almost as if to just be throwing the ball. The mound is farther away from the
batter in this

Theme Of Barbie Doll And The Death Of Marilyn Monroie
Poetry has a way of expressing its rage, grief, and irony at society and its social pressures.
Although each poem is different, they can carry a similar message that resonance with its
audience. Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy and The Death of Marilyn Monroe by Sharon Olds
express how beauty weighs women s lives and cause a tragic end from being the perfect specimen.
Both discuss a similar theme but carry the message out a difference way. In order to understand its
similarities and differences it is necessary to analyze the text to find its denotation and connotation.

things to influence how they should define beauty. Normally the dolls have skinny bodies and

Both icons influenced women on how to look and impress men, but the influence becomes
problematic and difficult to maintain because only dolls and superstars to can survive that life.
Even idols cannot survive that life, as proven by Monroe. Only Barbie, an object can be seen as the
perfect woman. Both poems use these names to highlight how impossible it is for women to seen
as normal or to be accepted as they are. Thus, an early death can happen when the pressure is too
much to handle and each poem has a tone of sadness at both women s death. However, the Death
of Marilyn Monroe encourages women to live and not be like the icons they admire, while Barbie

Dream interpretation is an old tradition that dates back at least as far as Biblical times. Perhaps
the most famous instance of dream interpretation is where the Pharaoh tells David his dreams

Dreams can be a means to tap into subconscious thought processes and tell us what we know that
we don t even consciously realize that we know. But we are also more psychically sensitive when
we sleep. So our dreams can contain extra sensory information that is unavailable to most people
when they are awake. Most premonitions of the future actually occur in dream form, not in waking
visions.

If you read your written notes out loud, you may find that the dreams are like pictures of
common expressions. This may be something you do not notice in the images or if you read the
words silently to yourself. It may only become apparent when you speak it out loud and hear the
homonyms and common phrases, such as the expression of something bugging me to express
something bothering you or being stabbed in the back to express a feeling of betrayal and so forth.
Especially at first, or when you are going through a particularly stressful time when the stakes are
high for you, it can help to run your dreams past someone else, preferably someone knowledgeable
about dream interpretation. They can help you sort out the most likely meaning. Sometimes, dream
meanings can be counterintuitive or people can read in either what they would like to hear or
perhaps what they most fear instead of what is really there. An objective listener can help you avoid

Photosynthesis Experiment With Spinach
Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use sunlight to create energy. Sunlight gets absorbed
into chlorophyll in the plant cells which then convert the light to energy. That energy helps with the
process of hydrolysis in breaking CO2 and water down. Through this breaking up, oxygen and
glucose are created. Photosynthesishas total of six stages, but those are broken up into two main
stages. The first stage is a light dependent reaction, which is when the energy from the sunlight is
taken and then converted by the chlorophyll molecules into stored energy. This reaction takes place
in the thylakoid membranes in the granum within the chloroplast ( Light Dependent ). In this
reaction, there is a transfer of electrons from water to CO2 which begins the creation of the
byproduct of oxygen. The sunlight gives a boost of energy to the chlorophyll which gets over the
activation barrier and makes the chlorophyll release an electron (Vidyasagar). Chlorophyll
molecules trap the light through pigments and absorb... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test was to see if spinach leaves could go through a short photosynthesis cycle without CO2,
light, or both. This was done by using sodium bicarbonate and water to create CO2 in two of the
beakers. With two beakers with CO2 and two without CO2, the effect of CO2 on photosynthesis
could be observed. Because sunlight is important to photosynthesis, the other part of the
experiment was to observe the difference between the spinach disks when exposed to sunlight and
the spinach disks when exposed to only darkness. Because of the photosynthetic equation: 6 CO2
+ 6 H2O + sunlight в†’ C6H12O6 + 6 O2, changing the light and the CO2 would impact the
outcome of the process. This would leave the leaves at the bottom of the beaker as they would not
be able to float up without the product of oxygen pushing them

Research Paper On Muscular Dystrophy
Muscular Dystrophy also known as MD, is known in many forms. Between those many
forms, the symptoms and signs change. All together there are a total of nine different types of
muscular dystrophies. These can either be born with or you can have the gene for it or not show

either be cured or slowed down and how doctors can and cannot tell which muscular dystrophy

Medtronic Health Insurance Case Study

Revisions Shelley Black OL620 Total Rewards August 4, 2017 Summary According to the case
study, Consumer Health Care: Medtronic s Health Insurance Options, by Herzlinger, Hurwich
and Bokser, I have come to the conclusion that Medtronic was trying to offer an array of services
to their employees but yet really didn t analyze what they were providing. Currently, Medtronic
offers three distinct health plans that are comparable with their employee s as well as industry
competitors. However, there were several areas that I found concerning that is in regards to cost
where the company is spending more money than they need to. Within this paper, I will be
addressing some factors in areas such as where money could be saved so that they may be able
to use this additional money in other areas for the company. Restrictions At the time, Medtronic
made decisions what they thought would be good for the company as well as their employees.
However, there are several areas of concern that could be redesigned to help accommodate cost
as well as the company. One area that I saw right away that needs attention immediately was the
redesign of the part time employee s hours. Currently, Medtronic considers part time as those
who work 32 or less hours per week. According to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), if an employee
works a minimum of 30 hours per week, they are considered full time and large

Obamacare Persuasive Essay
Several of us are watching the news right now waiting to see if Senate Majority Leader Mitch
McConnell and Congress get the 50 out of 52 votes to repeal legislation and to begin the
Obamacare debate. After the votes are counted the debate will start for Obamacare to be repealed
or to not be repealed. Obamacare, also known as Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was
signed in March 2010 by Obama to Include multiple provisions that would take effect over a matter
of years, including the expansion of Medicaid eligibility, the establishment of health insurance
exchanges and prohibiting health insurers from denying coverage due to pre existing conditions.
( Affordable ). Therefore, this debate will show what Obamacare does for the people of the U.S,
what will replace Obamacare if it is repealed, and if it is worth all the hassle of repealing and
replaces it with Trump Care or to not replace it. Obamacare should not be repealed because
several Americans are relying on Obamacare s cost assistance to afford health care. Many
citizens often ask each other, What is Obamacare? To be quite honest, not many people could
explain to each other what Obamacare is. The main goal of Obamacare is to give access to more
affordable health insurance and to reduce the growth of overall spending on health care in the
U.S (DeMichele, What is Obamacare? ). Obamacare may seem like every other bill that can be
repealed or replaced but it is not. Citizens lean on Obamacare to give them the

Evil In Christianity And Islam
The constant representation of evil is hard to come by, since good and evil is understood to be the
greatest opposition in human existence. Evil is everywhere, at all the times and all around us. Is it
a real thing with a sizeable influence or is an absolute truth, or nonexistence? The mystery of evil
has been appearing for centuries within all religions, where the meaning and magnitude of it has
been questioned and re exanimated through different considerations. A comprehensive collection of
visions has been taken on evilin scientific descriptions and written works. Should we consider the
better answer of evil that is provided by religion, such as Christianity, Islam, or that of science? If
not, than a real life may bring the recognition of evil. Once, John Paul II said, Science can purify
religion from error and superstition. Religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes.
How is this perception connected to the understanding of evil entirely?
When philosophers of religion and theologians address the issue of evil, they mostly look into the
relation between the existence of evil and God as a creator. ... Show more content on

In Islam, the evil spirit is called Iblis, or sometimes Shaytan. Islam is a major religion in world. It
s basic foundation came from Muhammad, PDUH who is the Prophet of this religion. According
to the Koran, Islam is the universal religion since it acts upon the laws of God, known as Allah. The
Koran distinctly indicates that God is the only authority in outlining good and evil; therefore, true
knowledge comes only from God. People are mostly predisposed to do well. However, the existence
of Shaytan and human basic needs that drive people to do evil. Based on the Koran, forgiveness

Piercing the Veil in Taxation Matters
Piercing the veil is one of the most discussed and litigated doctrines in all of corporate law. A
company has a corporate personality distinct from its members. From the juristic point of view, it
is a legal person distinct from its members. This is the principal laid down in Salomon v. Salomon
amp; co. ltd., (1897) A.C. 22].The courts did this to in relation to a one person member company.
The principal is commonly referred as veil of incorporation The courts were bound by these
principals but they realised exceptions to the rule. This happened due to human inventiveness
which started using the veil of corporate personality deliberately for fraud and improper conduct.
The courts started to lift the fictional veil between the company... Show more content on

These categories are probably not exhaustive. Under Indian Law,The Companies Act 1956 itself
provides provisions for the lifting of corporate veil. These generally are exceptions for the
companies to be regarded as a separate legal entity. The concept of limited liability ceases to
exist and the individual members/directors will be made liable for certain transactions. The
statutory provisions are as follows: 1. Reduction of membership below statutory minimum
(Section 45): This section provides that if the number of member of a company is reduced
below 7 in the case of public company or below 2 in the case of private company and the
company continues to carry on the business for more than 6 months, while the number is so
reduced, every person who knows this fact and is a member of the company is severally liable
for the debts of the company contracted during that time. 2. Improper use of name (Section 147):
Under sub section (4) of this section, an officer of a company who signs any bill of exchange,

prescribed manner, such officer can be held personally liable to the holder of the bill of exchange,

reaction rate that did not proceed too slow or too rapidly. As seen on page 13 of the Lab Handout,
varying amounts of tyrosinase and phosphate buffer were added to a cuvette while the amount of
the L DOPA was constant. After all reagents were added to the cuvette, the cuvette was inserted into
spectrophotometer and absorbance of productformation at 475 nm was recorded for two minutes at
fifteen seconds interval. After absorbance of product formation was measured and recorded for

After obtaining all of the absorbance values and unit conversions were calculated, as shown on
page 18, a rate of product formation versus time was graphed as well as a Michaelis Menten plot.
Based upon the Michealis Menten plot, estimated values of Vmax and Km were recorded.
Instead of generating a Lineweaver Burke plot to determine the calculated values of Vmax and
Km, our lab instructor provided a video for us to watch, which allowed us to determine the
calculated values of Vmax and Km right on the Excel program which were then recorded into
our lab notebook. We were then able to calculate out kcat value and our catalytic efficiency using
the equations provided on page 20 of the The same experiment was repeated for part C of the
lab, however, three different data sets were recorded. The first data set contained the addition of
DMSO, a second data set had the addition of the inhibitor quercetin, while the third data set
contained fruit extract. The concentration of tyrosinase, quercetin, DMSO, and fruit extract were
constant, while concentration of L DOPA and phosphate buffer differed from each cuvette as
recorded on pages 22 and 23 of the Lab Handout. One modification to part C compared to part A
and B is that the volumes of each reagent was cut down by a third due to supplies running low,
however, this did not affect the experiment in any ways. As seen on pages 22 25 on the lab manual,

Love Of Money In The Great Gatsby
In the Great Gatsby, the main character Nicks moves to New York to learn about the bond
business. He moves to a rich district in the state, where people tend to show off their wealth and
social status. Nick s neighbor Gatsby does this especially, because he throws major parties every
Saturday to display his riches. The real reason Gatsby does this is because he is attempting to gain
the attention of Daisy whom Gatsby is in lovewith. Daisy, who is married to Tom who is wealthy
himself, lives a comfortable life but in reality she is not happy. Gatsby, with the help of Nick, tries
to win Daisy with his money instead of his heart. Fitzgerald utilizes his characters through the text
the Great Gatsbyand using their perspective to demonstrate how the love of money brings people
to believe that they re happy. In the Great Gatsby, we see characters such as Gatsby show off
their riches to people, but the reason Gatsby does this is that he is trying to get Daisy s attention.
Gatsby is doing this because the basis of why he could not marry Daisy was because he did not
have much money. While talking with Nick about his previous encounters with Daisy, Gatsby
states that the only reason he believes Daisy fell in love with another man was because Gatsby
was poor. This man which Daisy married is Tom and from his perspective, we see how the love
of money causes Daisy to make herself believe she has fallen in love with him. He had deliberately
given Daisy a sense of security....that he

Within-Class Ability Grouping Essay
Within Class Ability Grouping
As a future educator ability grouping is more than likely going to be a part of my classroom. I
think it can and will be a valuable tool in effectively teaching all students of varying abilities.
Ability grouping is a greatly debated area in the field of education. Opponents to the practice
believe ability grouping is detrimental to learning and student self esteem, but ability grouping,
specifically within class ability grouping, can be very effective in teaching children. The students
are able to learn at a pace that is suitable to their individual abilities and teachers are able to
construct lessons that are specifically geared towards each level. Within class ability grouping

This involves assigning students within the classroom to small groups based on ability with
each group working on their own material according to their ability level. Within class grouping
appears to be a useful means to facilitate student learning (Lou, 451). The positive effects are
slightly greater for low achieving students than for average or high achievers (Hollifield). A
child may have lower abilities in one subject, but be more proficient in another; the child should
be placed accordingly. For example, an elementary child may be placed in a low ability group for
reading and a high ability group for mathematics, but for social studies, spelling, and science be
with the entire class. This enables the child to get needed help in the weaker area and extra
stimulation in the stronger area while allowing the child to interact with all of his peers in other
subject areas. Many elementary schools use within class grouping and it has been effective.
W. R. Borg, educational researcher and author, examined the consequences of grouping systems by
comparing two adjacent school systems, one using homogeneous (children of the same ability)
groups, the other using heterogeneous (children of varying ability) grouping. Borg s research
concluded that elementary level ability grouping provided the slower and average pupils with a
better chance for social recognition than did random grouping

Why I Apply To College
Academics have pushed me through life unlike I would have ever thought. Every day, I try to
impress myself and, although some days I fall just short, I usually end up making myself proud
in one way or another. A phrase I repeat to myself frequently is you learn something new every
day . This phrase means a lot to me, as learning something new every day makes me a better
individual. My goal in life is to use academics to the best of my ability and to never suffice for
anything less than greatness, and I hope to enhance this goal in college.
One of the biggest reasons I am applying to college, besides it being a conventional rite of
passage in life, is because I will be a first generation student. I consider it an absolute honor to
have the prestige of going to college first. In doing such, I aim not only to set the bar, but set it
high. I hope to do this by achieving nothing less than greatness in college as it not only makes me ...

While I do appreciate numbers and their role in society, I believe the world relies too much on
statistical inference in a fashion similar to linear regression: what is done now can be
interpolated, or analyzed on the basis of today, not extrapolated, or forecast for the future. If we
were all judged on our numbers now, there would be nothing else extemporaneous to think about
us for the future. Numbers can change. I might look ordinary on the facade, but I find that I might
offer something extraordinary. What I offer might not be evident now, but with further experience
and knowledge, my extraordinary qualities could be revealed. My numbers and criterion now may
have some pertinence to my future success, but they could also be entirely irrelevant. It is only a
matter of those who I am around and what I am potentially allowed to achieve to quite possibly
unravel my extraordinary facets underneath an ordinary facade. That is as contingent on me as it is

This device is the setting in which this whole story takes place in. The setting so important to
the theme because of the time period at which it, the narrative, takes place in. The 1800s women
were not taken seriously as men of the time. This also goes for treating women s ailments as
well. Though peopled did try their best to take care for them, there was always someone who
would say that they were over nervous or just too sensitive. An example of this is when Jane
tells John that she didn t feel much better, and to that John replied Bless her little heart! he said
with a big hug, she ll be as sick as she pleases (476). John obviously does not take what his own
wife and patient says to heart, and brushes off what she says. Another reason the setting of this is
important, is due to that times modern medical practices and prescriptions. Janes treatment for her
depression is Phosphates or phosphites whichever it is, and tonics, and journey, and air, and
exercise, and am absolutely forbidden to work until I am well again (470) and later on cod liver

patients do, they are now given actual modern medicines such as anti depressants as the main
treatment, along with therapy. Jane even thinks Personally, I disagree with their ideas

Understanding The Chinese Business Practices Essay
Conducting business in China necessitates a large amount of respect, patience, humility, timing,
cunning, knowledge, and a certain amount of aggression. The knowledge that these are needed and
that are to be used for success in negotiating is virtually worthless unless you are aware of when
and how to use them. The missing of cue to change from being patient to aggressive, or being
humble instead of cunning, can make or break a negotiation instantaneously. Americans that aspire
to obtain a sector of the Chinese market must invest the time in understanding the sources of
Chinese culture and not just the culture itself. Within the adoption of today s Chinese business
practices, is insight into the ancient history of a culture that has not just survived. This society has
flourished longer than any other civilization in the history mankind. The knowledge of only what
we want to achieve from an individual negotiation with a Chinese business person is very near
sided and will most certainly end in a poor relationship. Instead, there must be a firm understanding
of what the Chinese counterpart seeking from the partnership as well and be able to anticipate their
needs and wants. This is necessary because it is the very tactic that will be used by one s Chinese
counterpart. Chinais a massive nation that encompasses over 3000 miles from east to west and
2500 miles from north to south. It contains a wealth of different landscapes and an assortment of

  • 3. Illich s Contributions Of Education In Public Education Illich has cited three ways to improve the education of the poor despite more costly treatment 1. Three billion dollars are insufficient to improve the perform ance of six million children by a measurable amount; or 2. The money was incompetently spent: different curricula, better administration, further concentration of the funds on the poor child, and more research are needed and would do the trick; or 3. Educational disadvantage cannot be cured by relying on education within the school. Illich has questioned our assumptions about schooling and left us with a gateway to start thinking about our question, Is public education necessary.? A critical thing to mention here is that he made a distinction between education and schooling. Illich has made a distinction between the two ways of distributing chances, one is based on certification of passage through a curriculum for a length of time whereas another is based on demonstration of a particular skill i.e. acquisition of knowledge and experience. I agree with the Illich s distinction between education and schooling. According to Illich, education should be an intellectual endeavor to better oneself by obtaining a greater knowledge base, while schooling, is institutionalized education which deters the mind from relying on oneself for knowledge and being more dependent upon the system to go further in life. I totally agree with Illich that schooling does institutionalize education. I think that schooling on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Affordable Food Argument Essay The United States prides itself on its freedoms and the many rights it guarantees to its citizens. A person has the right to religious freedom, to a trial by jury, to free speech, to free expression but what about the right to healthful food? At this point, no right in the United States explicitly guarantees citizens access to nutritious, affordable food. A possible reason for this is that guaranteeing equal access to food across the nation is a daunting task. How does one even begin to accomplish such a goal? But despite its difficulty, this is an end to which the nation must work. It is too important an opportunity to miss because of indolence. Access to healthful, affordable food should be a right of citizenship in the United Statesbecause the nation recognizes such access as a basic human right and because such access is arguably a more important right than many that we currently enjoy. While practically, realizing this goal will be a challenge, the United States can do so by simply protecting other human rights, such as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Native Americans and Their Intrinsic Relationship with... Dances With Wolves, directed by Kevin Costner, and The Searchers, directed by John Ford, looks into the fabric of this country s past. The media has created a false image of the relationship between Native Americans and White men to suppress the cruel and unfortunate reality. Both directors wanted to contradict these stereotypes, but due to the time period the films were created, only one film was successful. Unlike The Searchers, Dancing With Wolves presents a truly realistic representation of Native Americans. Both Dances With Wolves and The Searchers protagonists, Dunbar and Ethan, embark on a journey and evolve in different ways. The purpose of Dunbar s journey is to find who he is. For Ethan, it is to rescue his nieces who he feels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this depiction, the Native Americans lure the men away from their homes, savagely kill their families, and commit wrong. It is the white men who have to painstakingly hunt down the Indians to reinstate justice, righting the wrongs that have been done. Native Americans are depicted as a demonizing form of the other, a force to which fear and repression can be the only responses. Costner s work almost inverts this. Both films critique White racism and violence. Dunbar is guilty of the Whites and realizes that they are involved in a system where the Native culture, habitats, and populations are being destroyed. To purge his overwhelming sense of guilt, he switches sides and fights against his old comrades. White society is the demon while the Native Americans are apotheosized. In The Searchers, Ford presented Ethan not as the hero but almost as a subtle villain, a racist that embarks on a fixated and zealous mission that is fuelled by his hatred of Native Americans. Ford uses Ethan to depict the wrong actions of Whites. Kevin Costner and John Ford both use the Natives language in their films. The big difference is the effort of the directors. Costner uses sub titles and actual Native language unlike Ford. Ford does not use the proper language for the Comanche. In beginning of Dances With Wolves, there is not as much dialogue between Dunbar and Natives, but the body language is significant along with other forms of symbolic communication used to make the story ... He was the only man to sign all of these four major documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Constitution of the United States, and the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain. Franklin was an inventor, a philosopher, a writer, a musician, and he actively participated in many congressional articles used by the government of the United Statesof America. However, Franklin realized that this was mostly a declaration of independence from England, which hadn t gained enough support amongst the Americans for Benjamin to force a vote. So, it can be concluded, Franklin was very much ahead of his time in writing the Articles as America now uses the proportional representation system when electing officials and Congress eventually wrote a declaration against British rule anyway. Franklin would often go on missions for Congress. The first trip was to Cambridge in October 1775. His second mission was to Canada in March 1776. Throughout the second trip, Franklin became severely ill and, upon his return home, he was bedridden for months. While Franklin was still lying sick in his bed, he was appointed as chairman of a committee whose purpose was to draft a declaration of America s independence. The committee also included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. Jefferson composed the core of the document. When he had finished his first draft, he asked Franklin to make any alterations that he felt necessary. Franklin made a few changes, such as We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable to We hold these truths to be self evident . On July 2, the Continental Congress voted for independence. N. Population Division 53). The news surprised many people in Japan, and they were forced to face the immigration issue sincerely. This controversial issue has been discussed for last 150 years. Facing today s low birth rate and ageing population, Japan should now accept more immigrants and become a multi ethnic country in the future. Another program for encouraging skilled foreign workers to come to Japan has just started few years ago under the Economic Partnership Agreement with the Philippines and Indonesia. Foreign nurses and care workers are now accepted in hospitals and nursing homes in Japan. Through these programs, Japan is trying to meet the demands of the labor force in particular industries. However, there are many reasons from the opposite side to restrict foreign workers coming to Japan from the economic point of view. The strongest opposition is that there are enough women and retired workers who are ready to work. Mainly because of the tax system and insufficient public supports for them, Japanese women are not likely to return to their previous jobs after their first maternity leaves (Only 32.5% of them returned in 2008) (Jinkoukozou Kenkyubu). Most of them have job experience and can adjust new jobs immediately with less financial support than foreign workers need. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More specifically, the study gave a great overview of how birth weight is positively associated with differences of language ability in children at 36 months. From a critical assessment standpoint, this study did a great job of assessing the relationship between birth weight and developmental delay regarding language development and ability. Clearly, the information and research were accurate but it was presented in an engaging way through research methods and the discussion section. My only criticism of the study was the longitudinal design, which caused attrition and also measured different things at different time points. By this, I mean that I personally think that it would have been more beneficial to have consistent measures across all time points to more adequately and accurately compare all facets being studied (i.e., maternal behavior and children s receptive language using the PPVT). However, this limitation was noted by the researchers and suggested to future longitudinal studies examining the impacts of low birth weight on language abilities. • 15. The Role of Fate in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juiliet Fate. Who would have guessed that this four letter, one syllable word would play such a big role in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet? Many people believed that it was free choices that led to the tragic ending of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, but it was really fate. When looking up fate using dictionary.com, it says that fate s something that unavoidably befalls a person; fortune, but in Romeo and Juliet, fate is reality. Perhaps the biggest and most overlooked example of fate was in the Prologue. It tells of a death marked love which proposes the story s concept of the people s abridgment of control in their own lives. Romeo and Juliet could not expect their death resulting from their cherished love, just as people couldn t control their future, and when Mercutio was dying he shouts a plague on both your houses (III. I. 104). This reminded us of Romeo and Juliet s fate. This glimpse of this tragic scene, gives us an example of what fate has in store for Romeo and Juliet. Mercutio blames his death on both families when he died trying to stop a fight against Romeo, a Montague, and Tybalt, a Capulet. Fate is two sided, it could bring happiness and joy, while bringing despair and sorrow, too. In the tale of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo attempted to defy his own fate. However, due to his blindness and reckless love for Juliet, his actions backfired and dragged him down to his inevitable fate; a fate that he tried so hard to avoid. Eventually, he would meet his ... Eliminating deductions, tax credits, and complex tax brackets also simplifies the tax code, making compliance easier. (Tonya Moreno, CPA, no date) Some proponents of the flat tax would like to see the Federal Form 1040 replaced by a simple post card on which you write your wages and multiply it by one tax rate. I can agree with that! Why is it that our current tax plan has to be so difficult to understand? Another part of the flat tax philosophy is to remove double taxation, by only taxing earned income. Things like dividends, interest on savings, or capital gains that result from investment or increases in asset value would not be taxed under a pure flat tax system. (Tonya Moreno, CPA, no date) Investopedia.com defines Flat tax as a system that applies the same tax rate to every taxpayer regardless of income bracket. A flat tax applies the same tax rate to all taxpayers, with no deductions or exemptions allowed. Flat tax system proposes that it would give taxpayers incentive to earn more because they would not be penalized with a higher tax bracket. • 18. Reflection Of Katrina And Federalism Katrina and Federalism Reflection Essay Before watching the video titled Federalism: Lessons of Katrina, I expected it to be about how the government responded to hurricane Katrina. Not only was my assumption correct, I gained a better understanding of federalism by observing how the local, state, and national levels of government responded to one of the worst crises in American history. From my observation, it seemed that the government on all levels failed to prepare, and then aid, the victims of the disaster. I think this failure was caused by the lack of communication between the different levels of government and could have been prevented had the governments worked together. In addition, I think the government s failure to respond effectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During Katrina there were many times that the local, state, and federal governments did not cooperate effectively. For example, the governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco, addressed the issue her state faced and asked for everything the federal government had, as in disaster relief and aid, but the ambiguity of the statement caused the federal government to withhold resources until the governor addressed more specific needs. Issues such as these prevent the different levels of government from cooperating in an effective manner and demonstrate one of the most significant problems with federalism. Another example of how the different levels of government fail to cooperate effectively is a statement by William Lokey from the federal government s disaster relief agency, FEMA. • 19. Screwtape Letter Essay In the Screwtape Letter, by C.S. Lewis, Srewtape insists that all pleasures are created by the Enemy, meaning God, and that demons have not figured out how to create them. It s an idea commonly seen in Christian theology. God brought all things into this world to be good, and those things can and have been corrupted by demons and the lot. What Screwtape is saying is that, God wants people to experience pleasure, and that it is a demon s job to corrupt a person s sense of that pleasure. Screwtape brings up the idea multiple times throughout his letters. He mentions it mainly with talking about love and corrupting Wormwood s human s idea of love. His focus on it seems to show some kind of fascination. Possibly that of envy. Not in the sense... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surely if God created all pleasures, then all pleasures are good, and thus, sin cannot exist. However, each person possess free will, and with that free will, must choose a path that brings them to God. Therefore, without some temptations, free will would be rather pointless, as everyone would forcibly be in the grace of God. While that s a possibility, a much more likely reason is presented in the Screwtape Letters. Which is, once again, that demons corrupt that which God has already establish. Screwtape is constantly telling Wormwood how to use and abuse the free will which God has given humans, and even mentions at one point how easy it would be for God to just draw everyone to him, but how it would violate free will. So really, it is a combination of both free will and God punishing those who fall from his path and allow themselves to be controlled by demons. In conclusion, all pleasures were made by God. They were not intended to be sin, however, demons corrupted them into sin, to draw people into their domain. Humans, having free will, are freely influenced off the path to God into that sin, by demons. Perhaps the most famous instance of dream interpretation is where the Pharaoh tells David his dreams about seven skinny sheep eating seven fat sheep and seven skinny ears of corn eating seven fat ears of corn. With proper planning, this allowed the Pharaoh to protect his people from potential famine during the coming lean years. • 42. Photosynthesis Experiment With Spinach Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use sunlight to create energy. Sunlight gets absorbed into chlorophyll in the plant cells which then convert the light to energy. That energy helps with the process of hydrolysis in breaking CO2 and water down. Through this breaking up, oxygen and glucose are created. Photosynthesishas total of six stages, but those are broken up into two main stages. The first stage is a light dependent reaction, which is when the energy from the sunlight is taken and then converted by the chlorophyll molecules into stored energy. This reaction takes place in the thylakoid membranes in the granum within the chloroplast ( Light Dependent ). In this reaction, there is a transfer of electrons from water to CO2 which begins the creation of the byproduct of oxygen.
